Wedge Scouting Report: Denzel Perryman

DPerryman3Wedge ID

When I was a young tadpole I knew nothing about Earth.  We didn’t really care much for this side of the Universe.  Until one day when I received a strange transmission.  It was a commercial for the NFL’s Greatest hits on BETA!  after I was finished laughing about the format of the video I began to watch the hitting.  These guys were killing each other – it was amazing.  I fell in love with Earth at that moment.  Where else can you drive your shoulder into another lifeform until he hits the ground to demonstrate great technique?NFlGreatest

You can imagine how disappointed I was when I came to this planet and learned that the game had changed to a Tom Brady-Friendly game, where defensive players were penalized if they did anything else but target another players knees on a hit.  So when I was assigned to research how to destroy the Earth – I was overcome with joy!  If there is no more violence in football, I’m going to make some violence of my own.  But you know what, lately I’m having a crisis of conscious.  You know why?  Because Denzel Perryman will knock your head off that’s why!  Now shut your bitchy human mouth and accept your pain!  This guy can hit!!!

D.Perryman1

Perryman is a 6’0, 235 lbs Linebacker out of Miami, the real Miami not the one in Ohio.  Undersized?  I don’t think so, he has a great stout frame and he uses it to hammer away at ball carriers.  Its something else to watch a guy with that U on his helmet wearing the number 52 and thumping people.  Reminds me of Ray Lewis.  Perryman has a long way to live up to Lewis’ career but if he stays healthy and physical he can be a pro bowl caliber Middle Linebacker.

DPerryman2

So is it all just thumping ball carriers?  In this day and age NFL scouts want their Inside Linebackers to cover.  Perryman can do that too.  He is a versatile Linebacker, not a 2 down guy.  He should be able to run with most backs and tight ends in the NFL.

DPerryman3

In four years in Miami, Perryman had 2 Interceptions and 4.5 sacks.  But the real impressive stats are his 7 forces fumbles and 343 tackles.  That’s a middle linebacker!!!

Dperryman5

Perryman is expected to be drafted anywhere between the late first round to the late 2nd round.  It will be interesting to see if his combine numbers cause him to fall.  He is not exactly a great athlete with jaw dropping combine numbers.

DPerryman4

But it’s not Perryman’s athleticism that is going to save the Earth.  Its his hitting.  If Perryman was an Alien Weapon of Destruction he would be the Great Hammer of the Alien Diety Haumea.

  1. Randy says:

    Dbolt,
He looks familiar, but I don’t really know who he is. Is he in that Cougar Town show?

  2. finfanrob says:

    randy

what you so miss, i so wish you got it. here say it like this

Yep, a mediocre team led by a mediocre qb. but with a smoking hot wife.

  3. Ken says:

People are worried about replacing Wallace’s productivity and it is a legitimate concern but ultimately quitting on the team outweighs that imo. There are great options in the draft and good ones in FA. I do think this is the kind of message that needs to be sent to the team. You quit out there and you are done. Maybe if we send that message then this team might not quit each and every December.

  4. Ken says:

I am guessing Randy secretly has a Tannehill jersey but won’t tell anyone that he does.

  5. Randy says:

    ffr,
I know this will be hard to believe, but I’ve dated a couple smoking hot women in my youth….and they’re nothing but trouble. As Dbolt will attest to, I prefer the thick, chocolate girls who look like men. Lol

  6. finfanrob says:

ok i am out, night all. time to head home.

  7. Randy says:

    Ken,
Actually, I’m not much for buying team crap. The only two jerseys I’ve ever owned were both Marino jerseys…and they were both gifts from my ex-wife….kinda gives you some insight as to why she’s my EX-wife seeing as how she had no clue I hate QBs. Lol

  8. finfanrob says:

lol @ randy that is so nice that you think only hot women are trouble.

  9. The Flying Pig says:

I do t worry so much about replacing productivity Ken

I think other wrs can do what he did

I worry about wasting money on a guy not on the roster to the extent it’s a disadvantage in bringing some one in

    • Ken says:

Way I look at it we can waste 12.5 million on a guy we can’t count on or we can waste 9.6 million on the same guy and give ourselves 2.7 million or so to bring in some one that we can count on.

      • The Flying Pig says:

        It’s 2.5

And that probably won’t bring you much

Maybe a Guy who plays hard but lacks talent

You can bring in guys through the draft irrespective of what is done with Wallace

But looking to replace Wallace with the money you saved by cutting him seems to be a high risk of failure to me

  10. Randy says:

    Later, ffr.

  11. Silly Tim says:

Ken, you were also a sign Wallace supporter. I was for Jennings then once we got days before FA started all the rumors said Wallace will be a Dolphin and I went from preference to reality and got on board. We all new the price range and the dreamy projections. Wallace has been good, not great.

Tanny still needs work on the deep ball with Wallace if that ever happens again. But I’ve seen Tanny hit other receivers in stride for big gains, maybe not all out bombs but nice 20+ yard strikes. So he’s not a mad bomber, we can win without that if we execute down low at a higher percentage. That also means the running game. We punt too much.

    • Silly Tim says:

      And settle for FGs.

    • Ken says:

I did want us to sign Wallace and I was a fan of his right up until the time I found out he took himself out of a game because he was pissed Clay scored the TD and not him. I have no respect for that diva shit. It’s one thing to want the ball, it’s one thing to complain about not getting the ball but it’s a totally different thing to quit on your team when you don’t get it one time and your team scores a TD on the play

  12. getterdone says:

Hi Randy, yeah it’s me. So is the OL taking plays off and sometimes whole games quitting?

    • Silly Tim says:

No just 3rd/4th quarter, still in the game, down by a score and the OL turns into a whore house. Hey guys, we’re wide open for business. LOL

We have to upgrade the OL. Make some of the projected starters already on the team backups, that’s how you know you’re getting better.

  13. Randy says:

    GDP
I’m surprised you didn’t suggest that our OL has taken the last several years off. Lol

    • getterdone says:

Thanks for stating the obvious, but yea they have….lol All these OL guru HC’s can’t seem to put Humpty Dumpties back together again 😦

  14. The Flying Pig says:

Mike Wallace didn’t walk off the field after another player scored a td

He lazily blocked during a td drive (on plays before a Td) and generally half assed it the entire first half of the game

    After the td
Tanny confronted WR coach or some one
    And Philbin confronted Wallace

It wasn’t about not getting a td
He was just half assing the game at the expense of Lamar miller on one play (and Landry and Tanny were playing very hard)

    Does it make it better?
    Probably not

He just obviously did not want to play hard and his teammates and coaches called him out in it

    He was benched

That is how I remember it anyway

It wasn’t about other guys getting tds
It was just being nonchalant about the game
Meanwhile Tanny was getting killed and miller and Landry were playing very hard

    • dbolt48 says:

I was told Wallace was bitching about not getting the ball and it was heard as clear as day Tannehill told him”Shut the fuck up.” Ryan snapped at him and Mike struggled with it.

      • Silly Tim says:

        Boo hoo!!!

      • The Flying Pig says:

I think that is probably accurate

But bitching about not getting the ball and getting upset bc another players scores a td is different

He was in the field when the td was scored
See the vid I posted below

  15. Randy says:

    Tim,
10 tds is pretty damn good. Look at WR stats. And, Tanny left a bunch more on the field for Wallace. He could’ve had a handful more. Putting aside the selfishness…..Wallace had a pretty good season.

    • dbolt48 says:

There were 3-4 left on the field by Tannehill and 3-4 left in the field by Wallace.

    • The Flying Pig says:

      I agree

But there is no question he failed the team in the final game

I think he half assed it in the final meaningless game (which I do not respect ) and then little things came up like stuff in the meetings and now is being represented as an ongoing problem

I think the real issue is we pay him too much and we can do better
      Possibly even with a rookie

The other stuff about Wallace appears to be pretext to me

    • Ken says:

It’s not about the production. It’s about attitude. You can win with a guy who quits on the team no matter how many TDs he scored. He has to play every down he is called and not just the ones he wants to.

  16. Ken says:

If there was any way to get Randall Cobb in FA I would be all in. I think he would be a much better fit in this offense than Wallace. He has the speed and ability to take the top off the defense but he is so good in the underneath routes and running in space. He can play in the slot or on the boundary.

  17. dbolt48 says:

The funny thing is we bust on Randy about the Oline, but it’s going to be a kid from his neck of the woods that flips our fortunes. Billy Turner not only will be a starter, he’ll be a legitimate pro bowl level player.

  18. Silly Tim says:

Randy, seriously. After the nonsense in 2013 and having to replace Martin, Incognito and Jerry in 2014, it was a tall task for any GM. Ireland traded a 6th to rent McKinnie in 2013. He was desperate. He tried the Colombo’s and Clabo’s of the world as well. Maybe it was the whole ‘bo’ thing. LOL

We need Albert back and ready to go, James looks like a good young player who can also improve, Pouncey is a good fit in this offense at center when he’s healthy. We kind of have to build around these guys. That’s the foundation of the OL. Go get some good guards who can keep a DT from stealing his lunch money and his clothes. It gets embarrassing.

  19. dbolt48 says:

Alright, you folks have a nice one👍

  20. Ken says:

    The Flying Pig says:
    February 26, 2015 at 9:42 pm (Edit)
    It’s 2.5

And that probably won’t bring you much

Maybe a Guy who plays hard but lacks talent

You can bring in guys through the draft irrespective of what is done with Wallace

But looking to replace Wallace with the money you saved by cutting him seems to be a high risk of failure to me
    _____________________________________________
2.5 is easily enough to pay a 1st or 2nd round WR. That is the direction I am leaning go WR in round 1 or 2 and F Wallace.

  21. Randy says:

    Piggy,
I agree. Wallace wasn’t mad because another player scored. He was mad(I’m guessing) because he was getting open repeatedly, and the ball wasn’t coming his way. Then, he walked off the field…I couldn’t tell if he said something to Tannehill…but Tannehill got in his face. Then, Wallace went and sat on the bench, and Philbin came over to talk to him. Whatever was said…Wallace was benched. Whether he said he wasn’t going back in, or Philbin said hit the bench…nobody here knows. Players say a lot of shit when they’re frustrated during the game. Maybe Wallace was just blowing off stem…maybe he truly said “I’m done.” I have no idea…and neither does anybody else here.

    • Silly Tim says:

Clay scored the TD for us to take the lead at halftime 17-14. Way to get pumped up Mike! SMH

Miller breaks a 97 yard TD to start the 3rd qtr to go up 24-14 and Wallace pulled his shit? Wow!!!

      • The Flying Pig says:

        Look at the video Tim
When clay scores a td who is the first eon to signal TD?

I think what you and ken just said is evidence that this was blown out of proportion

This thing with Wallace IMO is all about overpaying a guy who is not an elite talent

  22. getterdone says:

If Tanny & Wallace have a strained relationship that’s beyond repair, then Hickey should move Wallace.

  23. Ken says:

    Peace Dbolt.

  24. getterdone says:

Hopefully Wallace & Tanny both hash it out and become better for it. I’d like to see more nice plays between the two in 2015.

  25. Randy says:

    Tim,
I was just trying to be nice and throw getterdone a bone. Lol

I have said many times that I thought our OL did fairly well for all the shit they had to go through….but everyone still wants to just focus on how much they sucked! No patience for them….they blew it all on Tanny. Lol

    • Silly Tim says:

It was a concern of mine this time last year. They showed glimpses of what it could be, but we’re still not good enough.

  26. The Flying Pig says:

    Ken

    http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2014122805/2014/REG17/jets@dolphins#menu=gameinfo%7CcontentId%3A0ap3000000450002&tab=videos

This is the clay td before the half

    Wallace congrulates clay

The offense doesn’t take the field in the half again :50 secs left
And Wallace was benched in 2nd half

    Rumors took this story over

    • Ken says:

He still didn’t take the field after the Clay TD and he supposedly bitched to Tannehill about it.

      • The Flying Pig says:

I don’t think either him or Tanny are on the extra point unit are they?

I think Tanny bitched at him for half assing it on the drive (and rightfully so)
I believe (and don’t know) that Wallace may have demanded the ball ore (which is a sorry excuse for half assing) but this is not an ego/stats thing
It’s a half assed effort thing

A lot of guy wanted to prove winning still mattered and Wallace did not
I would be upset with him too if I was a teammate

But the scenario you are talking about is probably unlikely

He was on the field on the clay TD

And the offense did not take the field again in the half
And he was benched at halftime

I think shit went down at halftime and they benched him
        And he deserved that

        But that’s it

    • The Flying Pig says:

On a run play a few moments before that play, he walked off the field during the play
The play was near the sideline
And he acted like it was over while miller fought for more yards and Landry came up to block

      It’s not a stat thing
It was just half assing it and not blocking for miller

  27. Randy says:

Good game going on between MN wild and Nashville Predators.

  28. Randy says:

    Tim,
I never said Wallace isn’t a selfish punk, but this story has taken on a life of it’s own…and I’m not sure it has anything to do with what really happened. I’m not trying to defend the guy.

  29. Brian in NY says:

    dbolt48 says:

I was told Wallace was bitching about not getting the ball and it was heard as clear as day Tannehill told him”Shut the fuck up.” Ryan snapped at him and Mike struggled with it.
    *
If Tannehill did indeed say that then I have a hell of a lot of repsect for him for doing so.

  30. The Flying Pig says:

    Randy

He actually could not have pulled himself off the field if the offense scored with 50 secs in the first half and he was benched in the 2nd half

And those two are facts as far as I know

  31. Ken says:

    Piggy:
My understanding is that Wallace took himself out of the game. You say he was benched most of the reporting said he took himself out. Either way he quit on the team. You pull that stunt in New England or in Baltimore and you think you will ever see the field again in one of their uniforms?

    • The Flying Pig says:

      Philbin admitted benching him

There were conflicting reports immediately afterward
But the team said they took him out
I will see if I can find a link for that
He could not have taken himself out in first half
He was on the field on for the clay td

      Again
I reiterate this thing is blown way out of proportion
And the rumors have taken over
You should not base your opinion on that

      • Ken says:

Philbin admitted benching him but many players have said Wallace pulled himself out. Philbin may just be trying to protect his Diva.

  32. Randy says:

    Brian/Ken,
Sorry, but I totally disagree. If that is indeed what happened then Tanny did not handle it well at all and showed his inexperience and lack of leadership. Sure, it’s cool because it sounds tough, but it was anything but constructive. The whole situation was handled like shit, and it suggests to me that Tannehill may very well have actually been not throwing to Wallace on purpose. Everyone involved should’ve handled it more professionally and been thinking of the team first….not themselves. And, if it was that heated during the game, I’m guessing it most definitely had been festering for awhile.

    • Brian in NY says:

I disagree 100% Randy. If Wallace was being a bitch and complaining about not getting a ball thrown his way when the scored a a TD, then Tannehill should have told him to shut the fuck up because he’s showing that he’s a “me first” player and not a team player. You shouldn’t care who scores the TD, as long as it’s someone on your team. Marino used to blast his recivers all the time.

      • Ken says:

Totally agree with Brian. You think if a WR complained to Marino about not getting the ball he would said anything different.

      • The Flying Pig says:

        And I agree with this

I don’t have a problem with Tanny confronting him
        I like it

        Likewise for Philbin benching him

        But that is what happened
At this rape we may as well Wallace sodomized a donkey

He simply half assed it during the game
And he deserved to take shit for it which he did

  33. Brian in NY says:

I tend to agree that this story has taken on a life of it’s own, but there has to be some truth to it, otherwise the FO would not be shopping him. Maybe it’s just a cap thing, I don’t know. But they are shopping him for a reason.

  34. Silly Tim says:

Piggy, I’m not going by the video on the Clay TD, that’s not the play he quit on. That was on the Williams catch and run. There were reports Wallace said something about others getting the TD and not him. Everything is getting all muddled here. Wallace has character flaws I’m not a fan of. That’s all.

    • The Flying Pig says:

      That is correct
      It was Williams not miller
      Now I remember

And that is exactly the play I was referring to earlier

No question he half assed it on that play (and there were others)

And his teammates and coaches saw it

      But the coaches benched him

He didn’t pull himself out of the game

He didn’t get mad bc some one else scored a td

He just didn’t play hard in that game
      I don’t like the attitude
But it’s much different that the rumors which people have believed

      • Silly Tim says:

We actually don’t know what you perceive to be just rumors. I look at it like a pattern of frustration and immaturity. I don’t like high-maintenance WRs. I wish we never signed him. We’re 16-16 with him. It’s not a big deal. Whatever we do I’ll still root for the jersey #s.

  35. Randy says:

    Piggy,
My bad. When I said he walked off the field, I didn’t mean he walked off inappropriately…..I just meant when he left the field after the play.

  36. The Flying Pig says:

    See Philbin on this vid

    “I made a coaching decision”

FYI I like the way Philbin handled himself in this situation

  37. Brian in NY says:

Ok, gotta get to bed -have a great night guys.

  38. Ken says:

I have to turn in as well. Work has been busy and I am tired. Go get me Kevin White. Who needs Mike Wallace. Peace to you all.

  39. Randy says:

    Brian,
but, you have no idea what Wallace was “bitching” about. And, regardless, Tannehill could’ve handled it much more professionally. How can you complain about Wallace not being professional but laud Tannehill for it? Maybe some of the players saw it as ok, but I would bet my left nut many thought it wasn’t too. You and other fans may think it was good for team chemistry….some of Wallace’s teammates may have felt otherwise. There were more productive ways to handle it. On both sides. If that’s what Tannehill has to do to feel like he’s a leader, I question his leadership because no matter what…it didn’t help Wallace…land no way in hell does it help their chemistry.

Again, I am making a lot of assumptions, and I admit that. Honestly, I have no fricking idea what truly went down. Time for me to just shut up about it. Lol

  40. The Flying Pig says:

    Ken

Nobody publicly said Wallace took himself out

    Nobody said that

A couple media guys said there were reports that occurred

Sound familiar…they always do that shit

They could have said he blew a giraffe at halftime
    It doesn’t make it true

  41. Silly Tim says:

Randy doesn’t like Tannehill. Simple. LOL

GD is the biggest Tanny homer here and a lot of people think he’s a good young QB who can still get better. I’m one of those but I expected a growth period with his limited games in college as a QB. He’s what they call a 5 tool player in baseball. There is nothing you can’t ask him to do as a QB.

We bitched and moaned about not investing in a 1st round QB for years and when we finally do with a guy who doesn’t have a lot of games under his belt but has a good upside, we get impatient once again. I don’t know what you’re looking for. LOL

It’s funny, the Mets and their young pitching and the Dolphins with Tannehill might change some of our fortunes as fans in the next few years. I’d rather look forward to the potential than the doom and gloom predictions. But carry on. With or without Wallace I think we could be a good team in 2015.

  42. Randy says:

    Tim
And, regardless of how often I say it…it doesn’t matter. I don’t hate or dislike Tannehill. I just question whether or not he is truly the guy who can help this team win championships…and do not agree that he’s proven much of anything yet….just like I feel about the whole team. Frankly, it gets a little frustrating to see people put words in my mouth over and over again…but that’s how it works around here. it’s love or hate….great or horrible….never gray…never somewhere in the middle….never wait and see. But, that’s our society these days….everything is sensationalized and hyperbole rules! Lol

    • Silly Tim says:

Like I said, I think Tanny has made positive strides and still he room for improvement. I don’t think he’s reached his ceiling yet. He’s tough, durable, athletic and his production keeps going up. I’m just going by what’s happening, not hopeful projections.

If we make a few upgrades with starters and depth, and Tanny’s progress, I think we can be a 10-6/11-5 playoff team.

    • jahndoh says:

Not hating or disliking. There’s only one left. You like Tannehill? I love the “that’s how it is around here..society these days” rhetoric. LMAO..I don’t get Rob Cordry, I get a cross between Louis Black, and Archie Bunker, without political undertones of either. Both funny as hell btw.

  43. Silly Tim says:

I’ll say this, release overpaid players and make some cap space for Clay, a DT and G.

Then target the perimeters in the draft around Clay and Landry who work the middle most of the time. Don’t forget Miller who is emerging. That can be your bread & butter possession offense. Build on it and bring in the right players.

  44. Randy says:

Talent acquisition, Tim. We just need to acquire better talent.

    • Silly Tim says:

Agreed. I’ve also had enough of 2-3 year developmental players. That also keeps us wallowing in the mire. Target impact players and go for it. Nomsayin? 🙂

  45. jahndoh says:

The evidence says that Wallace pulled himself from the game in the first half and Philbin in turn benched him for the 2nd half. Darlington and the Palm Beach Post independently provided this evidence.

    From the post:
“A source told the Palm Beach Post that Wallace took himself out of the game on a play late in the first half. After that, Philbin benched him for the second half.”

    Later Gibson himself says:
“I understand his level of frustration but at the end of the day it’s team first. He may not have had the best team thoughts at one point.””

Is it accurate to say it was “coaches decision”? Well yes. That’s why he didn’t play the 2nd half. Is it truthful to deny that Wallace benched himself? Only if you want to deny the evidence. Or call Darlington and the PBP liars.

Many Dolphins teammates were very displeased with Wallace’s actions today. Several tell me they felt like he abandoned them when needed.

This is the part where someone says something stupid about “of course reporters are always 100% accurate” but calling both Abrhamson AND Darlington liars on this would be a desperate upstream swim.

  46. Randy says:

    Jahn,
I don’t think it’s about reporters lying…it’s more about how they present the information they may have. For instance, what does “many Dolphins teammates were displeased…” I seriously doubt they talked to every player…so was it 3, 4, 7? What is many, and did they purposely talk to players they knew would give them the quotes or information they were looking for? Was the word “many” truly reflective of how the “team” felt? Did guys who felt differently simply keep their mouths shut?

I don’t mean to question the information you provided…but I also think it’s fair for fans to question how things are reported. Many around here question reporters when they say something they disagree with. It’s just the way it is.

For me, the whole thing just sucks because it hurts the team. But, maybe ridding themselves of Wallace, if he is really a “cancer”, is a good thing for the team. I don’t know.

    • jahndoh says:

I don’t think it makes sense to get hung about whether he talked to 3, 4, 7 or 17 players. He had multiple sources and another outlet collaborated and expounded on the story. Darlington and Abrahmson for the most part are pretty well respected, and I don’t see either of them citing “multiple sources” if they didn’t mean it. If multiple players felt that way, his actions were problematic. Really I have reflected back on Tannehill many times saying “there’s lots of time for healing”. But along with the reports he met with Tannenbaum, then other reports he’s being shopped, I think the verdict is in, and he’s going to be done as a dolphin. One think I’ve never denied..he’s talented. But if he pulled himself from a game and was insubordinate on the sidelines, I can’t condone that type of behavior.

To be frank Randy, I’m surprised you don’t see this as a golden opportunity to blast a WR Diva! LOL….this one has teeth too!

  48. jahndoh says:

Hey Tim if you’re still here, I wanted to get this out on the blog:

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking lately, and I am ready to go out on a limb and say that when it’s all said and done Marriotta is going to be the better NFL QB between he and Winston. Winston has too many things going against him, namely his brain, and that’s Marriotta’s strong suit. Also, I think Marriotta’s passing ability is far better then many people realize. They think he’s a system QB, but I’ve seen all these Oregon, QBs, and he’s by FAR the best they’ve had in the last decade. The only reason we haven’t seen him play from the pocket is because that system doesn’t call for it. I think he’ll do, and do well, whatever his coaches ask at the next level. I listen to player after player interviewed on NFL sirius say he’s by far the best QB they faced this year, and every one of them says 100% convinced “He’s going to be a great pro QB”.

I don’t know, I could be wrong, but it’s been nagging me. I think whoever takes Winston ahead of him is going to be making the wrong choice ala Ryan Leaf/ Peyton Manning.

    • Silly Tim says:

I really don’t know. I’m also not spending any time caring about them. LOL

Let them prove it. My opinion means as much as that rotting apple off the tree that is lying there.

      Go Dolphins!!!

  49. The Flying Pig says:

    Jahn

Click on the video I posted at 9:52

Look at the time on the clock
Look at Wallace on the field

Now look at darlingtons tweet and tell me why his tweet just is not flat out wrong

You didn’t post one quote of a teammate saying Wallace took himself out
You quoted media saying sources told them that is what happened

I’m not finding fault with abramsin or darlington
I think the whole thing was a bit confusing

But how you take yourself out of a game when your offense doesn’t take the field again in the half
And then get benched at half is a mystery to me

The whole thing was spun out of control
I remember reading darlimgtons tweets that day as they occurred
He was trying to explain what happened
And doing the best he could

He went on joe rose and Orlando a show after and said the same stuff

The dolphins were being tight lipped publicly
I suspect he did not get straight answers
But I do not question the truthfulness that he spoke to dolphins players that were disappointed with Wallace

He is the only one reporting that Wallace took himself out
And everyone else is reporting his report

You may have different standards than me
But if I’m not hearing some one say I heard him say it, it’s much less credible whether it’s darlington or LaCanfora
And that fact that he got the time on the clock wrong and that there wasn’t time for the offense to take the field again throws the entire substance of that report in question

The only one knows what Philbin and Wallace spoke about is Philbin and Wallace
Philbin explicitly said it was a private conversation in the other video i posted
And that he made a decision at the half

Maybe he was covering for Wallace
Maybe not and darlington was just mislead by people who don’t know what was said

I doubt Philbin or Wallace told him Wallace took himself out
And they are the only 2 who knew
Unless some one was in earshot
But I don’t see Philbin yelling at Wallace or anyone around those two when Wallace is on the bench sulking

Btw Miko Grimes was very upset at darlington for that report
But she is a bit crazy sometimes
She attacked his credibility for alleging that stuff
    Fwiw

    • jahndoh says:

I posted multiple media sources who cited multiple players. Because I don’t have a name of an exact player doesn’t mean two different media sources are lying. I posted the direct quote from Abrahmason that said Sources (plural) said he pulled him self in the first half and Philbin made it permanent in the 2nd half. I posted a collaborating quote from Gibson, who is a dolphin. Saying he didn’t have the right team thoughts.

Darlington isn’t a liar, he never said that Wallace pulled himself exactly after Clay’s TD, but it seems like you’re trying to seize on something pedantic as though to prove doubt. It’s not a judicial case, it’s the court of public opinion, and i don’t believe both those guys are lying.

      Miko? Ok. Conversation over. LOL.

      • jahndoh says:

People yelling at each other on the sidelines and nobody else heard? Come on.

    Brian,
but, you have no idea what Wallace was “bitching” about.

Lol
    *

    Randy,
Wallace flapping his gums and complaining to Tannehill after a TD pass is inexcusable. I’m pretty positive after Ryan took 3 illegal head shots, 2 on consecutive plays, with no calls he wasn’t in the mood to hear anyone’s shit. Weren’t you one of the individuals who used to bitch about Henne not having the balls to get in Marshalls face when he was being a bitch? Well Ryan Told Wallace to shut the fuck up & that’s that. Ryan gets major props from me in this regard.

  51. Mike E. says:

Winston happens to be a smart young man. He had a 4.0 all through college, and if you saw him at the combine with Mariucci, he was very impressive. He did some questionable things which is likely immaturity, but he’s no dummy.

    • dbolt48 says:

There’s plenty of “smart” who have shit for brains in the common sense department. Winston’s issues might be an extension of getting away with everything as a kid because of his on field abilities. So he might just be mentally immature in the accountability department.
      *
On a side note I pray he gets lasik once he signs his contract. I get a headache watching him squint at the sideline. I don’t know how he doesn’t have a full blown migraine by the 3rd qtr.

      • Mike E. says:

He is immature, but good kids sometimes make bad decisions.

      • dbolt48 says:

Yep & sometimes good kids continue to be dip shits their entire lives. You never know how someone is going to turn out no matter their mental acumen. It’s a crap shoot.

  52. Mike E. says:

If we do get rid of Wallace, I hope all of you who want him gone are happy. I’m going to leave it at that. He’s a talented player that with a QB who had more time and was more proficient at throwing the ball deep, would really kick some ass. We’ll probably never see that. Carry on!

    • dbolt48 says:

      Mike,
I hated bringing Wallace in & you know that. With that being said I didn’t want them to fail. Sometimes the chemistry just isn’t right. Happened in Marinos time also….Eric Green goes from being a pro bowler with the Steelers to a flop in Miami. Some situations just don’t work.

  53. Try Pod says:

Did the internet die? Did the FCC kill it? Are we on here? Hello?

  54. Mike E. says:

Also – Just for some perspective, Devante Parker had 43 catches for 5 TD’s at Louisville. Now all of a sudden, as an NFL Rookie, he’s going to double his TD’s? Don’t bet on it.

    • dbolt48 says:

To be fair to Parker he only played 6 games so it was nearly a TD a game with a platoon of QBs. Not saying it indicates 10TDs next year for him as a pro.

      Parker averaged .83TDs per contest

      Wallace averaged .63TDs per contest

Once again different levels of competition etc.

      • dbolt48 says:

Wallace essentially had a TDS every 7 receptions while Parker had one every 8.

      • Mike E. says:

That’s at the college level D-Bolt. You know that means nothing.

      • dbolt48 says:

        Mike,
I mentioned that already…different levels, but you brought up the comparison. I just pointed out the averages. I agree it’s a different level, but you have so many variables team to team in this league.

    • dbolt48 says:

Phillip Dorsett blows both of them away with a TDS catch every 3.6 receptions.

  55. Silly Tim says:

I wish Wallace didn’t quit in the Jets game and it’s not like I wanted this situation to ever happen. We’ll see what happens.

  56. Silly Tim says:

Jahn, I didn’t mean to blow off the Winston/Mariota question lol. I just don’t have a good feel for either of them at the next level.

  57. dbolt48 says:

    Our college stat wise:

Mike Wallace a TD every 6.73 receptions

Devante Parker a TD every 4.73 receptions

Doesn’t mean this is how it will play out in the pros, but gives a college statistical trend.

  58. The Flying Pig says:

I’m drones with the Wallace issue
I think we milked it to the point of no return

  59. Mike E. says:

    D-Bolt

Wallace has DONE it on the NFL level. We don’t know what Devante Parker or Kevin White or DGB, or Perriman or Dorsett or Hardy or any of those prospects can and will do in the NFL. We do, however, know for a fact, that Wallace has, and can do it at the NFL level. End of story.

    • Silly Tim says:

Why is anyone debating this? We all know Wallace can play.

      • Mike E. says:

We’re debating it because everyone wants to subtract that production by getting rid of Wallace. I think that’s obvious.

    • dbolt48 says:

Dude, your going David mode right now. YOU started the day with the comparison & I gave you a quick statistical analysis.

      • Mike E. says:

Please don’t compare me to David. I didn’t start with that, just made one quick reference to Parker’s stats.

      • dbolt48 says:

And I gave you a better in depth look at his stats. Then I even said they played on different levels…so I gave you a statistical comparison with them coming out of college. Your response is Wallace has done it in the NGL. Ok, I agree, but that’s not where you started the conversation. You started it by listing Parkers stats almost as a knock on him. I just gave you more insight to his stats.

  60. D says:

Steven Jackson cut now, big money names be droppin yo………..

  61. herdfan says:

Not to interrupt day 2 of the Mike Wallace debate, but is the dress black and blue or gold and white?

  62. D says:

Mike, these guys show everything you loo for in an NFL level receiver, even more well defined than some of the rookie class last year that came in and dominated, and performed better than Wallace with his multiple years of experience in the NFL. I dont think its a stretch to believe they can do better than him. If it had just been one rookie from last year, instead of several, id say risky move but times they are a changing, and these WR are coming in NFL ready now by the truckloads.

  63. D says:

You do realize his stats from last year are essentially half a years worth right?

  64. Silly Tim says:

We all know Wallace has talent and if he’s released we know it’s not just for the hell of it because we don’t need talent.

    • Mike E. says:

It’s not nearly as simple as that. We have a history of jettisoning talent here because they’re difficlut personalities. Some coaches, teams, can work with that, and some can’t.

some local tv sports reporters have touched on the Wallace debate and some are saying we may be lucky to get a 5-6 rounder for him.

  67. dbolt48 says:

@ProFootballTalk: Dolphins release WR Brian Hartline, per his agent, Drew Rosenhaus.

    • Mike E. says:

Wow! Jahn’s gonna be pissed that Hartline was released before Wallace. lol

      • dbolt48 says:

LOL. This is the first story he’s waking up to today. Work is going to be LINGO for him😄. In all honesty I hope for the best for BH.

    • The Flying Pig says:

I wonder what the means for Wallace and Gibson

I guess if they cut all 3 they would save close to 9m in cap room

But that seems risky unless they really like Rishard Matthews and they are willing to address WR early in draft and more than once

  68. CavalierKong says:

    Hartline toast. I guess he wouldn’t restructure…

  69. Silly Tim says:

Mike E, what is this history of jettisoning talent here?

  70. Silly Tim says:

Whoa! The WR revamping has begun with Hartline. Not shocking but I’m a little surprised.

  71. CavalierKong says:

Actually this makes perfect sense coming from the flipping Dolphins. We’ll cut a guy who is the consummate team player (albeit overpaid) and we’ll probably keep the malcontent (also overpaid) who walks off the field while his teammate is getting abused by the opponent.

    • The Flying Pig says:

      Well we have Landry
Who I think is the kind of player we want
Now they need 2 more landrys

      • CavalierKong says:

Landry is a keeper fer sher. It flipping sucks we’re having to address the WR position again this offseason and are probably going to be looking at needing to fill two spots.

  72. dbolt48 says:

    @TomGarfinkel: The last seat… http://t.co/hy0272uq06

  73. dbolt48 says:

Supposedly yesterday Tannebaum said on a radio show that the roster was going to look really different 2-3weejs from now.

  74. dbolt48 says:

Cutting of Hartline probably ensures the funds for Clay’s contract. So essentially we chose Clay over Hartline.

    • D says:

I knew they would do what it took to keep Clay. Like i said, he fits our offense like a glove and would be difficult to replace. He does need a big receiving threat guy opposite him to complete and complement him in our offense. If they get a guy like that it amplifies Clay’s potential productivity.

  75. dbolt48 says:

Also I think they cut Hartline first out of respect for him. This allows him to hook onto a new team quicker.

  76. D says:

I have to believe if Hartline is gone, Gibson for sure is and Wallace is on a very very think line which he will have to walk expertly to stay.

  77. jetsssuck says:

maybe they bring him back once the dust settles and they see what’s available after draft and FA..

  78. dbolt48 says:

Willing to venture we were one of the teams talking to Mike Williams at the combine.

    • D says:

We did interview with Parker, cutting Hartline and interviewing potential first round WR’s makes me think if he’s there or one of the other top WR’s are, thats who we take. They did also interviewed McKinney and Perryman, so they may be going with ILB as fallback, probably DT as 3rd fallback.

  79. dbolt48 says:

@AbramsonPBP: #Dolphins have just one receiver (Jarvis Landry) guaranteed to be back this season. Offense could look a lot different. .

  80. Silly Tim says:

What we’re seeing is the beginning cleansing of the 2013 Ireland signing bonanza. Last year we had to fix the OL situation in a major way and still have work to do there. Now up is WR and LB.

  81. dbolt48 says:

With Tannenbaum on board I wouldn’t be shocked if Miami trades up for one of the top 2WRs.

  82. CavalierKong says:

Truth is Hartline wasn’t anything special in this offense last year and was eating up too much cap so the move makes sense. I like the idea that we cut him this early to give him ample opportunity to find another team. He represented our Fins very well, was a true professional and I wish him the best as long as he doesn’t end up on the Pets.

  83. Mike E. says:

I liked Hartline, but he really fell off a cliff last season, and was never a guy who gets into the endzone. Still, he’s the type of player you want on your team.

  84. The Flying Pig says:

    Apparently
They would have saved more cap room by cutting Hartline 6/1

They through him a bone which will help him find employment elsewhere

I’m sure he catches in somewhere else
    Don’t cry for Hartline

The organization obviously respected him enough to take a bigger salary cap hit now and gave him a better chance to succeed elsewhere by becoming a FA on 3/3

    Class move by the Dolphins

    • dbolt48 says:

Exactly. Some are mocking Hartline on Twitter, but the man handled himself as a professional. I see a team with young WRs trying to land him due to his high IQ.

      • The Flying Pig says:

Yesterday he tweeted that pick of him and Wallace

And that I guess was a goodbye

I have no problem with hartline
I just want to get better at WR

  85. Mike E. says:

    Kong

Hartline was a good #3 or #4 WR, but he’s not a slot guy, and always did his best work on the sidelines. Hard to have a #2 WR who doesn’t score TD’s though.

    • CavalierKong says:

Yeah, the move makes sense. I just hope we follow it up with getting rid of Wallace. I’ve been back and forth on whether or not to keep Wallace but I hate the idea of keeping a douchebag and getting rid of the professional. I know, I know…talent rules even if you’re a douche.

  86. Silly Tim says:

Mr. T won’t be running the draft so his history as GM with the Jets doesn’t mean much to me. His job is to oversee what’s in the best interest of the Miami Dolphins is happening and report to Ross.

    • dbolt48 says:

Tannenbaum will have plenty of say & if he thinks moving up in the draft is in the teams best interest, I’m pretty positive it’ll be a shared thought of Hickey also.

      • Silly Tim says:

Well that’s not how he described his job.

      • dbolt48 says:

  91. D says:

Piggy, post June 1 designation doesnt save more overall, it just save more this year by pushing it to next. We would take a hit at a bad time if we did that. Given we are trying to extend Tanny i dont think any of the guys we cut should be post june 1 cuts.

  92. Mike E. says:

    Kong

In the NFL, talent definitely rules. It’s not really a league comprised of good guys. There are some, but, those aren’t the guys that teams go out of their way to satisfy. It’s just like real life. You could own a car dealership, and the top salesman is a real scumbag who steals sales from others, and rips off customers, but if he’s putting up the big numbers, he’s not getting fired.

  93. D says:

I like Hartline, i really wish the first domino to fall was Wallace, in some ways i see it as a slap in the face to him that he was the first one to be cut, but who knows maybe they did it out of respect and he knows that.

  94. CaliGigi says:

Hartline got cut???? Yes!!!!! He was never a #2 WR and can’t score…Jarvis Landry is and a way better receiver.

  95. D says:

As far as the trade up for a WR, i dunno. Its possible, but we are a team with many holes and needs, i dont think its wise to lose picks when your in that spot. Id be more likely to believe a trade back unless we have a player we absolutely covet, just because it serves the overall needs of the team better that way.

    • D says:

Also i think the highest we would have to trade up to to get one of those guys would be 11, and its likely at least one of them White, Cooper, Parker, DGB would fall to us, without someone else also trading up to jump in front of us. SF is one pick behind us and they likely take a WR, i only see three potential WR selecting teams in front of us. Cleveland, Oakland, and the Jets.

    • The Flying Pig says:

I think we can sit back and take 1 of the top 3 or even move back and take a very good WR

But I do think Kevin white is head and shoulders better than the rest
And his name is such a hot commodity, I doubt he falls to 14

But it may be kind of a situation like last years draft
The bills traded up for Watkins when maybe they could have done better by just taking beckham

  96. jahndoh says:

    Piggy,

Fair enough, Drones it is. BTW, you’re always reasonable. My last post was off the mark on that front.

    Mike E,
I certainly didn’t mean to imply Winston was a poor student, but bad decisions are sometimes referred to as stupid decisions. Marriota is beyond reproach both in the classroom, on the field, and off. It’s the off part that seems to get so many of these newly established millionaires in trouble.

Saying I think Mariotta will be the better pro is taking a risk. Most of the world seems to see it the other way around. But I’ve been thinking a lot about it, and that’s what I think will happen. Would love to make a long term bet with someone (hint!). Could do a thing like me and Boulder have done in the past and make it a donation to a good cause, or just paypal for a nice beer.

I have seen Mariotta mocked to the Jets several times. As a Dolphin fan I’m rooting solidly against that!

  97. The Flying Pig says:

    Tim

I think you do have 2 qbs in the top 5
I think we might get 2 dts in Shelton and Williams
And it’s possible to have 5 edge rushers before 14

I don’t think we see any DBS though
    So that is unusual

    that’s only 9

So the OL is key here
And then the other issue is whether white is first among wrs (which he should be) but you never know

I think white at 14 is a long shot

I don’t pay that much attention to that stuff to really know

    • jahndoh says:

Who the fuck is Pablo? A douchebag himself is who. Brian’s interviews were dripping with disdain for the media coming off of “Bullygate” and the bullshit that same media propagated about his team.

      Pablo is a good guy
      I follow him on twitter

Hartline was not always nice on twitter or in local interviews

But for whatever reason, is so fla he is polarizing
      And really at slatterys too

      • dbolt48 says:

  99. jahndoh says:

I’m not pissed about Hartline. When you guys gonna learn my first reaction to Dolphins news isn’t a temper tantrum? LOL…

I have been realistic all along with Hartline, and I think Dbolt will vouch for this: He vastly underperformed his contract last year. He couldn’t stay without taking a paycut.

That said, I think he’ll see what the market has to offer for him and be back in Miami for less money when it’s all said and done. An early cut like this has “As a courtesy to the player” written all over it. The separation serves both sides, and if another team doesn’t decide to overpay for Brian, I have a feeling he’ll be back.

Now, if he signs with the pats, I’ll throw me a 1st class temper tantrum. 🙂

    • dbolt48 says:

Yep I’ll vouch for that, but he offered to take a pay cut & Miami said no. They must of deemed the fit horrible, but still did the right thing letting him go early.
