The Wedge Scouting Report: Mackensie Alexander, CB

Wedge here for Toots SuperGlue!

Ever had one of those days?

Nothing can withstand the gravitational forces you pass through.

Everything comes to pieces!

Well that’s when you need your Toots SuperGlue!

TOOTSGLUEAD

TOOTS is the Glue you can rely on like superstar cornerback Mackensie Alexander.

Just apply a little bit of Toots Superglue to you broken Photon Belt or your best Wide Receiver and like Magic you are back in space again or pitching a shutout on the football field.

Toots and Alexander are airtight and won’t let anything come between them and the receiver, including bombs!

MackensieAlexander5

Alexander was one of the most highly ranked high school prospects coming out of high school.  He was talented then, he is talented now.

Toots won Space Ship Saver of the year last millennium.  And it still saves Space Ships!

Some think Alexander will be the first cornerback taken in the draft!  Some also think Toots will glue a moon to a planet!

Before the combine Alexander declared to the NFL “I am the best cornerback in the draft”…cocky, you bet!  True….maybe!

Cornerbacks need to be confident, and Mackensie certainly is.

And I am confident Toots will permanently glue anything it touches!

NCAA FOOTBALL: SEP 12 Appalachian State at Clemson

Guess how many interceptions Alexander had at Clemson…

The answer is ZERO.  Guess why?

Yep, you guessed it, no one dared to throw the ball near him.

Like Toots Superglue which never breaks down.  Toots is permanent and not safe for your kids to play with.

Alexander is true shutdown defensive back.  And Toots will kill your pets if they eat it!

MackensieAlexander4

Alexander is yet another prospect with Florida roots, hailing from Immokalee Florida.

I don’t know where that is but its probably full of football fields.

Toots, on the other hands, is harnessed out of the semen of dead lifeforms!

At the combine Alexander didn’t run the 40 but or really any drills at all except the bench where he benched 225 pounds 11 times.

At the Saturn New Products Fair, Toots glued an alien’s tentacles to his own pancreas 11 times!

FBC: Russell Atheletic Bowl: Clemson vs. Oklahoma

Let’s face it, if you are an NFL Team you need a Mackenzie Alexander on your roster.

And if you are an intergalactic agent, you need Toots SuperGlue in your spaceship!

Get your Toots SuperGlue now…look for the sexy alien on the label.

StickTootsGlue

Oh…and one more thing now you can get new MAX Toots SuperGlue.

Speaking of which…if Mackensie Alexander was an Alien Weapon of Destruction, he would be a bottle of MAX Toots SuperGlue!

I stand by what i said earlier, OV is worth 10mil per. In this market for an ascending pass rusher at his young age, every drop of 10. 17 though…..fuck that.

  5. Ken says:

Alright. Time to get out of the office. Peace.

  6. getterdone says:

Restricted free agent C.J. Anderson is already drawing interest from the Bears, Dolphins, 49ers and Patriots, according to Profootballtalk on NBC Sports.
Three of those teams have immediate holes to fill at running back with San Francisco being the lone exception. Anderson got off to a rough start last season but finished the year strong by averaging 6.3 yards per carry over his last eight games. The Broncos won’t get any compensation for Anderson if they fail to match another team’s offer sheet.

  7. uwantwat says:

    Always OGs get released.

    • D says:

Its true, there is probably more to come, hell after draft a bunch of things will happen, but i was hoping we would get at least one bonafide starter, and you have to just hope thats how it turns out picking up cut players, in FA you can more guarantee it.

    • Ken says:

      Unfortunately ours don’t.

    Chiefs are getting Schwartz

  10. Randy says:

    D,
How is Vernon ascending? His sack numbers just dropped significantly last year, and he’s just an okay run defender. He’s not that good. Just because a team is willing to overpay for him has nothing to do with his value on the field. Nobody in New York is gonna be happy with that contract in 2 years.

    • D says:

Hits, hurries, etc all went up. He was a much better DE last year than previously. He was on the up, still its a market thing, for NFL players if you are the top guy at your position, you are going to get paid like it by someone. I personally felt we should draw the line at 10mil. You feel different i guess.

  11. D says:

More sad days for the Brownies lol………..
Matt Miller ‏@nfldraftscout 8m8 minutes ago

#Browns have lost Travis Benjamin, Alex Mack and Mitch Schwartz.

But they still have Johnny Manziel.

  12. uwantwat says:

I’m looking at much better play from Douglas and Turner. They just need time. Evans would be a good mentor if the price was right.

  13. Mike E. says:

    LMAO @ Ken’s “unfortunately ours don’t” That’s great!

  26. Randy says:

We swapped first round picks with somebody?

  27. D says:

From what im seeing you have Jahri Evans, Geoff Schwartz, Zane Beadles that are left, all previous starters.

  28. D says:

Its probable we get a 3rd rounder for OV, and we could get a 6th-7th for Moore.

    • steveccnv says:

Or we get nothing. We won’t get anything unless the guys we sign don’t match up to Miller/OV. I don’t think they will, but we’ll see.

Signing Super Mario goes on the ledger against OV. Obviously, OV got a lot more money and years, so that will help, but don’t bet on a 3rd RD comp pick

  34. uwantwat says:

Damn the Bucs, they got Sweezy. Any of those 3 that D will do.

  35. steveccnv says:

Mike, how’s that $7/$8M contract for OV looking?

  36. Randy says:

    D,
Is Mike Harris still available? H played fairly well for the Vikes last year when they moved him to guard. He was a tackle convert, so he could be a nice backup option at tackle too, if needed. I’d think he could be gotten fairly cheap, and he might be even better with a year at guard under his belt.

    ———————————-
Mike, Signing Mario doesnt count against us for the comp pick, he was a street signing, not a UFA signing.

  38. uwantwat says:

Mike…Turner’s main problem is he was playing next to Fox for much of the year. With James back and another TC, he will be much better. For a 4th round rookie, Douglas did a good job. Tossed to the wolves a bit IMO.

    • The Flying Pig says:

I think both Turner and Douglas deserve a chance to show they are coming along

      but Dallas Thomas….

      • D says:

Turner is on really thin ice, so many people here had a hard on for him the year we drafted him but he is really no better than Thomas.

We’re up to $24M in cap space.

    • The Flying Pig says:

we might sign a RB, OG and CB in the next few days
So you can see that being eaten up
      If we don’t use it
we should just give it to Suh and restructure again so his cap hit is 0 next year….lol

  47. Randy says:

So, we’ve signed a safety(kinda), a CB, a DT and a LB…and restructured our TE. What does that tell us?

  48. getterdone says:

Hey OV, can ya help a brother out man? I’m down on my luck!

  49. The Flying Pig says:

    we signed a DT?
    When did that happen?

  50. drg says:

Damn, OV. Good for you. That’s ridiculous money for a good player. Glad we stayed out of that. I would have been okay with Miller for 6 million, but agree with those saying RBs are easy to find these days for much less. Devante Booker, baby. Get him here, please.

The Lions safety could be a sneaky good signing and it’s low risk. I like those kind of moves for Miami right now.

    So far, so good….

    • getterdone says:

What has Booker done? Remember Miller was a highly sought after prospect in the draft too. Was a stud with the Canes, then took him a few years to develop in the NFL.
Everyone these days throws the ol ‘RB’s are easy to find, they’re a dime a dozen’…smh! No they’re not…IMO.
Average backs, yeah maybe in a suitable system with a good OL, but top flight RB’s are tough to find, and apparently tough to keep.

  51. Randy says:

    Piggy,
    Oops! I meant DE.

  52. Randy says:

Soliai is available? Hot damn! Let’s overpay for him….again! Lol

  53. uwantwat says:

Signed a CFL DT called Cleyton Leing. About 2 weeks ago.

  54. D says:

Last years comp picks, teams got 3rd round comp picks for A LOT less than Vernons 17 APY im pretty solid we should get a 3rd for him. Moore we will have to see what Dallas pays him if they do eventually sign him, but if its anything north of about 2.5 APY we probably get a 6th for him. Miller, could/should net us a 4th.

  55. steveccnv says:

D, I don’t think we need $6M for the draft class, when they say that I think it’s a gross amount. When we add the 8 guys from the draft they’ll replace 8 guys on the top 51/53, so you have to subtract out those min. salaries currently $525K.

    • D says:

Didnt think about that, good point, and a late round guy is almost a 1 for 1 replacment. I have always heard its about a 5-6mil allotment you have to consider.

  56. steveccnv says:

I’d sign Delmas again too, he’s cheap and if he actually does play he’s been very good.

  57. Mike E. says:

    Steve

I think it’s unfathomable how much OV got. Not sure if you were saying you knew that would happen or not, but if you did, props to you. It’s shocking that he got that kind of contract.

  58. uwantwat says:

DE…..I would let Wake walk as well, re-sign Shelby, Keep Dion FF provided his interview with brass works out.Damontre Moore could surprise a lot of people. He was highly rated in the draft and admits he screwed up with the Giants, he has talent. If Alexander the CB was there @ 13 he would probably be my pick. If not, Lawson, Dodd, or Conklin even. Spence I would stay away from.

Thanks for the Super Mario news bud! Good shit!

  61. D says:

Man the browns are holding on to that last freaking shred of hope that they can offload Manziel to some team. They think the Osweiler thing has shaken the QB market enough to get someone to take a shot. Just cut the fucker and move on.

  62. uwantwat says:

GDP…he is a DE/DT type. Lot like Odrick.

  63. D says:

Id cut Wake too, i would feel better about keeping Shelby and having him man the RDE spot with Mario at LDE, and then draft a guy to compete with Shelby for at least splitting snaps at RDE. Lawson is a natural RDE BTW and we probably staring right at him with pick 13.

  64. D says:

If we wind up with a 3rd, 4th, and 6th set of comp picks thats going to be a fucking awesome draft.

    • getterdone says:

That seems to be some sort of backroom strategy gamble by Tbomb & Co.
He’ll be praised from the mountain tops if that happens, or else they’ll all go to NE, to make up for them losing picks….lol

He forgot the part where Gase has been given full control over the 53. Its a bad year to cut him but if Gase doesnt want him, you can be sure we know next year by this time.

  66. Randy says:

    uwantwat
I think Wake still has value in a sub package to rush the passer. They’ll have to see how he comes back from his injury, but he might still be very effective with limited snaps if healthy.

  67. D says:

Id still really like to draft Hargreaves, but i just dont see it at 13, so at this point gimme Lawson, Ragland, or maybe Leonard Flloyd.

  68. steveccnv says:

Mike, don’t you remember the convo a couple weeks ago? I said don’t be surprised if OV gets $15M per yr.

  69. uwantwat says:

The way we have gone about the early days of F/A means we have plugged a lot of holes with true starters and the draft suddenly becomes the way to get real talent into the team. BPA instead of purely need-based. Makes a real change.

  70. steveccnv says:

To get comp picks you need to let guys walk, then don’t sign anyone big. The cheats do this like every other yr, and the guys they sign are off the street like Revis.

  71. son of a son of a shula says:

I don’t think I’m really ready to come back yet, I still just wanna rip Tannehill, lol.

  72. steveccnv says:

I don’t want us to sign any large FA contracts, get 5 guys that ave. about $2.5M instead of one guy for $12.5. We need depth right now more than FA stars. That paper thin team of Philbin’s needs to be fixed.

  73. son of a son of a shula says:

The Texans just signed their own Tannehill. Elway had no problem passing and they have big money to spend.

  74. uwantwat says:

Randy…. You maybe right but he comes at a huge price. I’m just not sure at his age he can overcome the injury.

  75. son of a son of a shula says:

Comp picks this year are based off of what happened last year right?

  76. getterdone says:

Eagles signed LB Nigel Bradham, formerly of the Bills, to a two-year contract.
He’ll be reunited with former Bills DC Jim Schwartz.

  77. Randy says:

    uwantwat
I agree. Wake is a question mark at this point. They’ll have to figure out what he can do after he recovers. Explosion off the ball was his greatest asset. If he doesn’t have that anymore, he’s probably not worth keeping.

Grimes was a big liability against the big WRs in our division, so Maxwell can’t be any worse there. Grimes did get lots of ints though.

    • D says:

You really have been away a long time Rhino. Smith has nerve damage, a lot of teams calling him undraftable.

      • Rhino says:

I haven’t been online… but my T.V. works! lol He won’t be undraftable any more than Gurley-man… just a later timetable because it was a bowl game injury.

    • son of a son of a shula says:

There’s a good Golden Domer in every round of this draft. Someone could have an all ND draft and it’d be a good one.

  90. Rhino says:

my Texan fans were asking if I knew anything about “this Miller they just signed”. LOL o.k., may 6.5 mil/per WAS too much. However, I think in that offense he’ll get the touches necessary for a 1,500 yard season.

    • D says:

TBH i dont think it was too much i think that was a pretty fair deal for both sides.

      • Rhino says:

I really wanted to keep Miller in Miami. He has shown that he deserves consistent carries, that our coaches wouldn’t commit to.

    • steveccnv says:

He could thrive, but won’t get them the important yards, with the game on the line. 6.5 is way too much.

Rhino its not a simple ACL, his knee damage is akin to what Marcus Lattimore had.

    • D says:

Trust me if he is on anyone’s radar, its as a mid round pick to a team who can afford to take a shot on him. Everyone at the combine was saying that the diagnosis that they got from medical peeps there was very bleak.

  92. steveccnv says:

    uwantwat, Prince who?

  93. New Age says:

Last weekend we became the first Title One anywhere in the nation to win a state title (and ended up with the 5th highest score in the nation… all school’s, all sizes). 🙂

I wasn’t saying I want to draft Ragland.

My choices would be a OT that dropped, the 2 CB’s, A DE or Darren Lee over Ragland

  99. D says:

Rhino, even your article say he would be there …in some capacity. The articles and reports from combine had multiple sources saying that the med report show nerve damage, significant enough a lot basically took him off the board. You might be ok with us getting a guy who …at best is a redshirt this next year and using our first to do it, but i do not like that at all. In fact i hope we are ones whop are counted in the group that took him off the board all around.

Literally if pick 13 comes and they say “Dolphins select Jaylon Smith”, i am going to take my tv out to my drive way, beat it to pieces with a sledge hammer, go get my Phins jersey, cover it, take a shit on both the jersey nd whats left of the TV, pour gas on it, light it on fire and then after its burned for a while, piss on it to put it out, grab a steaming hot shard of whats left of the TV, and murder the closest person to me.
