Vincent Taylor #53 – RD 6, Pick 194

0201+DOLPHINS+MINICAMP+050517

The Dolphins doubled up on defensive tackles in RD 6, and overall to that point, spent 5 of 6 picks on the defensive side of the ball.  While Davon Godchaux is more of a slippery, elusive DT, Taylor is more of a power penetrator with a good strong burst.  Taylor had some good production at Oklahoma State.  He started 34 games over his 3 years at Okl. St., and his last season, his Junior season, Taylor racked up 51 tackles (31 solo), 13 TFL, 7.5 sacks, 1 PD, 2 FF’s and 1 FR.  Pretty solid season.

Taylor is not ideally built for a DT, he is big in his upper body, but too thin and narrow in his lower body.  He was projected by Lance Zierlein to go RD 6-7, and that’s exactly where he landed.  He’s not going to be expected at this point to be anything more than a guy in the rotation, providing he makes the team.  He does have some good upper body strength, but a lack of general flexibility and lower body girth and power may hinder his chances.  He has a shot to make the team, but he has some competition, and can also land on the PS, if he doesn’t make the 53.

GO DOLPHINS!  Zero in!

Damn D, Your mental image of Mike E is SPOT FREAKIN ON! 😉 It is amazing how well you nailed it. LOL !

I’ve only met Walker and David when I took my family to Disney a few years back. Sonofson stood me up. I sat across from D at the Senior Bowl two years ago, and Mike E blocked me on facebook. It’s been a fun ride.

      That’s because David was going…

      • bookman11 says:

LMAO…that explains a lot. Like sb7, I too met David and Walker while on vacation at Disney, and they said you might be coming…now I know why you didn’t!

Oh, and my eyebrows are not totally white, they are only going white.

You missed the vote for the fest game I hope you can make it this year vs the stej.

    • Rockphin says:

I SHOULD HAVE VOTED FOR THE TITANS GAME 4 TIMES INSTEAD OF THE JET’S GAME! Now I have a conflict and cant go. Can we recast the vote? Anyone?

Too many have locked in with reservations

You should make your brother come to the game is what you should do

From the “oh my god I am getting old category”

Jason Taylor was drafted 20 years ago. Damn, I remember it like it was yesterday. Oh my God I am getting old.

  7. Rockphin says:

I was only kidding about changing the fest game SON. I am still pissed off that I never realized that it was the same day as my brother’s 40th. We’ve been talking about going on a trip for his birthday since his 39th! I should have realized a lot earlier.

  12. son of a son of a shula says:

Oh man I thought for sure it would have been Zach but JT has announced that Jimmy Johnson will present him for HOF enshrinement.

  13. D says:

Just noticed that Wake has a pattern with his sack totals, double digits, followed by single digits, followed by double…etc etc. Unfortunately this is a year he is supposed to be a single digit. If it happens that way, hopefully Harris is starting his pattern with double lol.

    • son of a son of a shula says:

I think Wake should be thinking DPOY and let it fly

    • Tim Knight says:

Yeah except Wake had 7 sacks before he went down with the Achilles injury in game 7 in 2015. Also his first season he was a backup to Porter and JT.

      • D says:

I feel like wake probably has 2-3 more years left, im not sure if we hold on to him much longer, however, just depending on how things go for us with draft, etc. Still i would rally like to see him crack 100 sacks with us. That for sure earns him a ring of honor induction, and potentially a hall invite. I think he would be worth it, because 100 with as few other weapons that were on some of the teams he was on, i think shows that 100 is even more impressive than it would be otherwise.

Also im not saying there weren’t reasons he had lower numbers when he had them, im just saying it is what it is and that’s the pattern. Im definitely not saying he takes every other year off. I mean hell you could say this upcoming year he might be single digits because he might not have as many snaps due to sharing time with Harris, so it could happen again, and there would be reasons for it. Trust me i hope he sets records, i hope the pattern breaks, and i was more joking about the pattern, though it is undeniably there.

  14. D says:

If wake can get another 20-25 sacks, and another 5-10 FF’s, id probably consider him equivalent to Taylor all things considered. Also to be fair to Wake, he has this year and 6 more before his stats should be equally compared to Taylors, so if Wake kept to his average of 10.2 a year, he’s end a 15 year career with 152.8, easily smashing Taylors numbers. He’s also end up with about 41 FF’s, which would be almost even with Taylor.

    • Tim Knight says:

I think Wake is on a 2 year goal with this team right now. If we can’t win it all by the 2018 season I would not be surprised to see him hang it up. Then again he is a freak athlete so who knows? LOL

      • D says:

If he gets a ring, i dunno that might be enough for him, but i hope he pushes himself for the Hall and i hope he gets it with us being his only team. That would be a pretty special thing.

  15. Tim Knight says:

D, I get the Wake pattern thing, Miami reporters use it to creative the negative vibe like we discussed a few days ago. LOL

I think Wake will retire before we ever release him. He’s very well respected within the org and has always been fair in contract negotiations. Just my gut feeling.

    • D says:

I hope so, i mean i had years i thought he was done, and i was one of the people that might have said, we might as well walk away because right now he’s pretty much not reliable (after a couple years of injuries, some of which i didn’t really think he’d bounce back from). Time and time again, the guy proved how wrong i was for thinking that so at this point i hope we keep riding with him until the tires fall off and he makes the decision to retire as a Phin without him having to bounce around to any other teams before he finally hangs it up.

      • Tim Knight says:

Yep! His work ethic and the way he takes care of his body as he ages impresses everyone in the org and around the league. I think he even said at one time this is where he wants to be and win.

If we go with 9-10 DL like last year even bringing that many to the game, he could be real productive monitoring his snap count. That’s where Hayes comes into the picture. Fede is still trying to hold onto a spot as well with Branch and Harris on the right side.

  16. D says:

Sad that Taylor left us for those two sasons, because those were two of his worst and his average when he was with us was good enough that had he been in a dolphins uni he would have been at a number around 151 sacks, applying the average number he has as a phin.

  17. D says:

There is zero way that Achilles injury shouldn’t have significantly affected his pass rushing. Freak of nature is absolutely right.

  18. D says:

Man the FA’s in the available list is just ridiculous some of the names that are there.

  19. D says:

There is definitely a storm brewing deep down in Okoye’s soul. Really impressed after listening to his interview, he has the right spirit, and there is some fire burning deep down in there, so its just a matter of whether or not he has the refined skills to play the position. He might have a good chance to make the team, also with his physique and athletic traits, im not sure if it might not be as a DE for us. Id be concerned being Warmsley, Fede, or either of the rookies Taylor of Godchaux.

    • Tim Knight says:

That’s a good thing. Okoye is an intriguing prospect. He has other opportunities in life but seems to want prove he can do this NFL thing.

  20. Tim Knight says:

10 man DL making the team with 25 defensive players.

DT Suh, Phillips, Okoye, Godchaux, Taylor
DE Wake, Branch, Hayes, Harris, Fede

Of course performance in TC and the PS along with injuries could change this. But I think this is the plan at this time. Sleepers are welcome. 🙂

    • D says:

If we keep 10 im going to bet Okoye is on the list, in fact i think even if we keep 9 he is likely to be one of them. Im thinking Wake, Harris, Suh, Phillips, Branch, Hayes, Godchaux, Okoye. The last spot is a head scratched, I just dont think Fede, last year of his rookie contract and not pushing to be a starter really screams holding on to him. I also feel like Taylor might need time to get better technique and better strength in his base, o complete his skill set, so he could be a good PS candidate. A few of the UDFA’s are as likely as those guys to get that last spot too, as there is a lot of talent from those UDFA DE/DT’s that were brought in.

    • D says:

You list looks fine to me, but i think Fede and Taylor are stilla good way from me feeling certain about them to pencil them in. Id say thats the way im leaning currently, but im just not there with them yet.

  21. D says:

Also, suspended, TJ doesnt count against the 53 right? Someone will just have to be dropped after he comes back?

He’s also end up with about 41 FF’s, which would be almost even with Taylor.
    **************************

WOW!!! I don’t put Wake anywhere near Taylor, unless we’re strictly comparing pass rush ability and results. Taylor was a much more rounded player, and did so many more things than Wake, and keep in mind, wasn’t always playing DE and rushing the passer. 77 passes defensed, 46 FF, 29 FR, 8 INT’s (3 for a TD), 6 TD’s after FR’s. Hard for me to let that go that Wake and Taylor are “equal”. Taylor did a helluva lot more on the field than Wake does, did, or ever will do.

    • Mike E. says:

Taylor also has more than double the amount of tackles Wake has. Hard to compare the two in my mind.

      • D says:

I do agree with you that its hard to completely compare the two, but overall, i think they are pretty equivalent for what they did in their time at the position and assignments of their specific position. In other words as far as being worthy of hall of fame consideration, i consider them pretty equivalent.

    • D says:

I dont think its hard to compare them, i do agree Taylor has the edge, and part of it is due to his height advantage, for example the 77 PD’s, is going to be next to impossible for Wake to compare, and ints for that matter. Wake has 15, and 1, which isnt bad imo, and Taylor did have a 4 inch advantage in height. The FF’s and Sacks, if Wake makes it to year 15, he would be pretty close to if not more sacks than Taylor and probably right around the same number of FF’s. Tackles, also, im not comparing those at all as Taylor wasnt a true DE, he was a hybrid DE/LB so i would expect him to be schemed to make more tackles, than Wake who has been more of a true pass rush DE.

I do think Taylor has the advantage, but i am also not as far apart on them as you are. Wake given his situation, his position, and lack of competitive players around him for most his career, i just think he is pretty worthy of Hall consideration and pretty close to calling him equivalent to Taylor. I also dotn think i ever saw Taylor molested like they seem to let happen to Wake. I cant count on one hand how many likely sacks were taken from him just last year (and its been a pretty strong pattern throughout his career) by people pretty much taking him down by his head because he was around them so fast that’s all they could get hold of.

So i get your love for Taylor, and i dont think its misplaced, but Wake is a much more comparable player than i think you are giving him credit for.

  24. stangerx says:

Interesting from Jarvis’ agent to Barry Jackson. Not sure why they insist on no in-season deal but then am sure at swap meets many a time “final offer” is not exactly that.
    ————————————-

“The Dolphins surprisingly haven’t yet made an offer to receiver Jarvis Landry on a contract extension, but he will not hold out of training camp or hold out during the regular season if a deal isn’t struck before then, his agent Damarius Bilbo told me this week.

Bilbo also revealed that he and Landry will not negotiate a new deal once the regular season starts. They’re open to any discussions with the Dolphins before then.”

    • D says:

Bilbo also stole a magic ring, escaping certain death, stabbed a giant spider in the eye and stole the heart of the mountain from a seemingly indestructible dragon…. I wouldn’t challenge him even if he does look like a hairy chain smoking child.

      • stangerx says:

LOL – I didn’t even make the connection of his agent to the Middle Earth. Same time further confirmation that Landry has zero intent on holding out. The Hobbit was probably saying…..”but we need some kind of leverage.” And that is what Landry agreed too. Same time — enough money is there in-season and deal is done.

  25. Mike E. says:

    D

For the same reasons you’re discounting Taylor’s tackles, and penalizing him for his height, are some of the reasons why they shouldn’t be compared. I think Taylor made much more of an impact than Cam has.. He was much more of a game changer. Just how I see it. fair or not, I don’t remember Cam coming up big at all in games that had playoff implications. I kind of remember the opposite in fact, of him being completely neutralized.

    • Mike E. says:

Some of that has to do with him being the only big threat, so he was a target, but sometimes, great players overcome that.

    • stangerx says:

JT is getting his gold jacket, and for good reason. We’ll see about Wake, but ain’t it great the convo about him and Taylor came up?

  26. Tim Knight says:

I think JT was more dynamic where Wake mainly settled in as pure edge rusher on the left side. But Wake’s explosion off the edge is one of the best that I have ever seen.

    • stangerx says:

Wake is absolutely fabulous off the outside edge…..better than JT, who could control a game from a bunch of spots. Jason is the better overall player, but then what did Dan Fouts do other than throw passes?

      • Mike E. says:

Taylor did so many things, his versatility was fantastic, and his size and athleticism hard to match. Wake is an excellent pass rushing DE, but even measuring him as just a DE, he’s not especially stout against the run, he’s more of a pass rusher.

      • stangerx says:

You are right…..JT did so many things well. 🙂

    • D says:

His technique is almost flawless, i agree with the explosiveness, but i think its his technique and motor that are unequaled. I have seen others with a similar or equivalent get off, Derrick Thomas’ i believe was probably the best i ever saw, but Wakes is pretty close and the way he gets under the OT’s shoulders taking away any counter except choke slam, is remarkable. Combine that with no apparent fatigue, and that means he eventually is gonna get him man or 10 yard holding penalties, except of course they arent calling them.

  27. D says:

JT had great see ball get ball instincts. He was a great player and the discussion from my side isnt that JT wasnt as good, its that Wake is better that is being given credit. I am saying that if you look at his numbers, specifically in the pass rushing department (in my opinion the only way to compare them), and you see a dude thats on the same level. Do the math, and if you look at the per year stats, they are pretty equivalent, look at the average per game and Wake’s are better, and do it off the per snap number and Wake’s are even better still. When he is on the field, Wake is a difference maker on par with HOF’ers. Thats not taking away anything from Taylor, its just saying Wake deserves a jacket one day too.

    • Mike E. says:

Not trying to be difficult here, but you can’t compare them in the pass rush department only, because Taylor wasn’t exclusively rushing the passer. That’s why to me they shouldn’t be compared

    • D says:

I think its just come to an impass, i am trying to show that Wake’s worth to the team, his contributions, etc are on par. You dont feel like they are, and thats fine. Im not tearing down Taylor by expressing what i think of Wake, even though it seems very much like you are taking it that way.

      • D says:

Also, maybe i should have just let it go earlier, and not tried to show what i was thinking when i made that statement, but why the hell did you take offense in the first place Mike. It wasnt an offensive statement.

  28. Mike E. says:

    D

Why do you think I’m taking offense? I’m not. I just don’t agree with the comparison, but that’s where it starts and ends.

  29. steveccnv says:

I agree with Mike, you can’t compare Wake to the once in a lifetime talent of JT, if you want to make a case for Wake as an HOFer, thats fine, just dont base it off of JT.

    • D says:

I wasnt using JT as a “he’s better than JT” i was using JT as a litmus test. JT was a first ballot HOF’er, and a comparison to him, showing that each person (as different as may be argued) were equally as dominant, was used only to support the assertion that Wake too should be considered HOF worthy. There was no argument on my part outside of that, scroll back if you want the full context. I felt i had to defend an argument after Mike seemingly got sideways at my assertion the two were comparable, which they most certainly are in the context of how they played their individual position to HOF levels.

      • steveccnv says:

        Stop already, there’s no comparison.

      • D says:

There must be because i just drew one. Steve, you don’t feel there is one but i do, doesn’t mean you or i are in the “right or wrong”, there doesn’t have to be a right or wrong because the way you are evaluating it isn’t the same as i am.

      • steveccnv says:

So you’re comparing them based on them being equally dominant? I don’t even know what that means. When you have to write 200 words to prove a simple point, you have no argument.

  30. steveccnv says:

I think Wake should get in, and we’re going to see how dominant he can be this year with help from his new buddy Harris.

  31. D says:

Media peeps are making the Landry situation more than it needs to be, Landry is letting the business stuff be between the business people, the team is doing the same. FO vs the agent are working out the details that is fair for team fair for the player and i think both have the perspective of doing whats best to keep Landry here. The agent isn’t going to come out and say “Landry wants to test the open market, because its not true, Landry has said as much, but he also isnt going to say yeah he wants to be here so bad we arent going to get what we feel is fair, because that wouldn’t be doing what he is paid to do. Media types like to make it out as the team is disrespecting Landry and Landry might play elsewhere, when i am sure its no where near that.

  32. pheloniusphish says:

Anybody think Wake and JT are very much alike?

  33. D says:

Look Steve, you wanna jab that’s fine, keep it above the belt, i wasn’t having an argument, again, you need to read the whole exchange. The reason this went on this long and i typed “200” words to prove a simple point is because other spent a whole bunch of there telling me i didnt have one. All i did to “start this” is state that Wake’s pass rush numbers if extrapolated over 15 year career would be in excess of JT’s just as a statement of Wake actually having really good numbers, HOF worthy if people keep in perspective that he’s only got starts for 8 years in the league. That all there was to it, but then it became a JT’s better than Wake, and followed by me foolishly i guess trying to defend my original point and not doing a great job at it. Ten pile on by you at the end, and now your flinging what i consider to be insults at me. This is why people stop posting here.

    • steveccnv says:

You’re missing the point both Mike and I were trying to make to you, but if you’re offended I’ll stop right there.

  34. Tim Knight says:

Well we know JT is a first ballot HOF, let’s hope Wake can get there too. Then lets hope Harris has a HOF career. 🙂

    • stangerx says:

If Wake is a first ballot HOF guy…..we will all be real happy. Should be some great seasons coming up.

  35. stangerx says:

“If you take this cart outside the Publix parking area it will stop working.”

No criminal prosecution thing, just that it won’t work. True or a fake out to stop them from being taken?

  36. The Flying Pig says:

I actually enjoy watching Wake more than I ever enjoyed watching JT

I don’t know why that is. Great as JT was, he was never one of my favorite Dolphins

    • Mike E. says:

I liked Zach Thomas more, but Zach was an underdog who did amazing things. I always liked JT, but Zach was my favorite player. Taylor was great player though, a very special player. He accomplished some crazy impressive things over his career.

      • The Flying Pig says:

He just was never one of my favorites

But I defiantely think he deserves HOF. He was amazing.

      • Tim Knight says:

Zach’s numbers are pretty damn impressive too. He could be a HOF guy down the road.

Although Mike isn’t old enough to remember Nick Buoniconti was better than Zack Thomas and guess what round he was taken in.

    • jetsssuck says:

If only our draft pick in that round could have a HOF career like Nick’s we would be on our way to a great SB challenging decade.

      • Mike E. says:

I said he was one of the best I ever saw. Since I didn’t live in FLA, and I really didn’t watch that much football at that young age, I didn’t see Nick Buoniconti play, other than old film footage.

  41. stangerx says:

Here’s an article that points out how valuable Suh is to us…….worth the full read and vid watch. He is a difference-maker, even if not so much a scheme guy at times…but heck the most bands only have one lead singer.
    ————————————–
“This is a player who has given as much as he can to his team as any interior defensive lineman in the league. Suh has played 985 and 973 snaps for the Dolphins over the past two seasons, and thos numbers average out to 85 percent of the defense’s snaps. The likes of Gerald McCoy, Fletcher Cox, Aaron Donald, Geno Atkins and Marcell Dareus haven’t logged a season to rival that percent of snaps in the past two seasons.

Suh’s contributions to the Miami defense are nearly unparalleled in the league, from his presence in defensive game-planning, his raw physical power and complementary attributes, his availability to remain on the field to make plays and his leadership on his unit. ”

    https://www.fanragsports.com/nfl/dolphins/suh-dominates-competition-like-few-can/

    • steveccnv says:

I think he’s underrated by the media, and fans alike. Even Mike thinks he’s overpaid😉

      • stangerx says:

I thought the trade made little sense for us as a team at the time…..but we got what we paid for. Suh being there must make DC’s game plan whole lot, both in terms or worry and how to compensate for the wildcard part of him.

  42. steveccnv says:

Some hack on SBNATION writes an article on, if the NFL were having an expansion draft like the NHL, which 12 players would the Fins keep. When the NFL does this each team gets to save about 40 or so players, not 12.

    • stangerx says:

Mental gymnastics I guess……but man could they charge a lot for an expansion team if only they only protected 12. Instant SB contender.

  43. stangerx says:

    From PBP’s Habib.

“Take whatever you like from Pro Football Focus determining that only three regulars at guard were worse than Bushrod last season……Coach Adam Gase said Bushrod ranked second behind Mike Pouncey in grades compiled by his coaches.”

“Count him out if you’re big on PFF. Just be prepared to be very wrong.”

  44. mf13ss says:

Provided the so-called ‘injury bug’ doesn’t cripple us this year, our O-Line has a very good chance to be a top-5 unit in the NFL. Problem is, we’re likely to fall victim to the ‘injury bug’ this year… especially regarding Pouncey.

    • stangerx says:

Top-5?…..I’d be happy with above average. Even if Pouncey is healthy we have one stud and one we are hoping will be.

      • mf13ss says:

I suppose it’s contingent on one’s point of view. YES… I said “top-5”, provided our starters stay healthy. But we all know that Pouncey will go down again, thus compromising my predictive “top-5” billing.

      • stangerx says:

And my POV is the Gs are suspect (even if starters) and James is average to maybe a bit above. Still hoping we sign in an inside guy vet…..we do have the cap room.

    • steveccnv says:

Don’t see why not, other than injury.

  45. Tim Knight says:

Look at the way Suh is built. He doesn’t look like everyone else. I remember watching him play in college and saying geez look at this dude. He throws people around like they don’t belong.

He does core strength training, so he’s strong in the middle. Now with Phillips training with him, let’s hope he can get some of that Suh motor.

    • stangerx says:

Built is the key thing…and not so much about how he hits the weight room. He is a man among boys. Just like Mean Joe Green was back in the day, even if not as much now with the other guys having personal trainers and such.

  46. steveccnv says:

I expect this year to be something in between the Raiders and Cowboys 2016 seasons. With a close playoff loss in the division round, after winning in the WC round, then in 2018 being true contenders.

  47. steveccnv says:

I expect Parker to be like Chris Chambers in his breakout year.

  48. steveccnv says:

I expect Todd Bowles to get canned by the jets mid-season in their suck for…season.

  49. Randy says:

Hate to break it to you guys, but our OL was above average last year…way above average statistically. It’s just too easy to blame them for all the problems on the offense and not blame the QB. Lol
    ***
We were ranked 10th in sacks allowed and 9th in rushing average. But yeah….the OL had absolutely nothing to do with those rankings. Everything is their fault. Blah blah blah.

    • steveccnv says:

The OL was great when healthy and decent when only a little banged up. I don’t think this is breaking news, and why above we wrote how good we thought they could be this year.

    • Tim Knight says:

I thought when we were healthy the OL was good. Why are we blaming anyone? We made the playoffs for the first time in 8 years and we were playing 2nd and 3rd string players at multiple positions down the stretch. Last year was a good season for this team. The future looks bright. 🙂

    • stangerx says:

I agree we were above average last year. Same time Albert is no longer there. You think we are set up better going in this year or do you just want to say Tanny is the one to worry about? 🙂

  50. Randy says:

I think it’s hard to say how our OL will perform this year…too many unknowns right now. Pouncey’s health? Who plays and how do they play if Pouncey goes down? Who plays guard, and how good do they play? Can Tunsil step in and not struggle? I know folks want to assume he’ll be ok, but until he does it….it’s still a question mark. Will James return to a higher level of play? And, of course, injuries. We basically have question marks…to a certain extent…at every position on the OL. They need to keep getting better.

    • Tim Knight says:

A lot of teams have OL issues. A lot of these guys coming out of college are not really ready and every team is trying to find a place for young OL as they develop. It’s not easy to put together a quality OL and maintain it. We see it all across the league. There are like a half a dozen teams who have what you would call really good O-lines.

  51. Randy says:

And with that lunch is over. Go Tanny!!!

  52. Rockphin says:

I want to be in Key Largo!

    +100000000000

Just don’t expect the same statistical output, being we’ll be spreading the ball around (that’s what the Gase Offense does).

I DO think we’re going to see DeVante ‘breakout’ like Chambers did! VERY much with ya, Bro!

    • steveccnv says:

I dont really care about stats, theyre actually counter productive, because when you get someone with blown up stats you have to pay them. I want guys to get open and make a play when called on.

      • Tim Knight says:

Agreed, I want to see us spread opposing defenses thin with skill in every phase that they never know what’s coming and there is nothing they can do about it. As opposed to just relying on one or two guys to carry us like we had to do in the past. This is the deepest we’ve been at the skill positions that I can remember.

  54. Rockphin says:

Man, as hard as I try I cannot remember Thomas leaving us and playing for Dallas! WTF?

    • Tim Knight says:

I think we let him him walk. He was breaking down and dealing with concussion issues. He retired after that one Dallas season.

  55. Rockphin says:

I also cannot stop replaying the slow motion silhouette strut video above.

  56. Rockphin says:

Although Mike isn’t old enough to remember Nick Buoniconti was better than Zack Thomas and guess what round he was taken in.

You lost all credibility with the first 5 words in this sentence! LOL

  57. Rockphin says:

    Overrated and over paid…..

  58. son of a son of a shula says:

Everything I’ve been saying about Suh since well even before he got here and as I said at the time – Suh is here everything is different now. And it is.

    • Rockphin says:

Yes, we have been worse at stopping the run and have averaged less sacks per year since he got here. Everything is different now.

  59. son of a son of a shula says:

    Ju’wan James possibly has Hypotrichosis

  60. son of a son of a shula says:

Timmons is going to feast this year it should be a lot of fun to watch

    • Tim Knight says:

I think he and Alonso are a good pair and then we have some other LBs who can chip in when needed. But they are the core guys. You’ll see them both in the box quite a bit in base and in nickel.

      • son of a son of a shula says:

And McMillan is going into a real good situation. He has the opportunity to be starter while still learning from a good vet group. I think he’s going to be a good one.

    • stangerx says:

Have no idea how much Timmons has left…..but also darn sure what he does have left is exactly what this D needs.

You mean make a spectacular circus catch and then drop and easy one right in his hands on the next play?

SHHHHHHHH!! Don’t tell Son.. I’m talking about Suh

Then you don’t know what the F you’re talking about. Pay attention.

    • Rockphin says:

Less sacks per year since he got here.
one of the worst run defenses in the league since he got here.
11% of the team salary. Yeah he’s worth it and I don’t know what the fuck I’m talking about.

      • son of a son of a shula says:

Want you to know I said that to you as if we were outside Dave and Buster smokin and bullshittin

      • Tim Knight says:

It’s not about sacks with Suh. Build a defense around his dominant force, something we haven’t done well since he’s been here. I like what we have now better than what we had when we signed him so we’ll see.

Suh is a guy who draws a lot of attention and he beats players up physically the way he throws them around. He intimidates. We need other players to feast off the opponents fear of him, not be the option/target to stay away from him. I’m liking our defensive depth more than in past years. We’ll see.

        http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/SuhxNd99.htm

  64. Tim Knight says:

Son, agreed on McMillan. But we don’t have to rely on him just yet. He along with Misi, Hewitt and Hull or someone else can contribute when needed. What I love about McMillan besides his physical attributes is his approach to the game. He’s a student who studies and doesn’t act like he’s all that. He works on his game and he’s only 20 years old. That’s why we drafted him, he fits the same criteria as Harris. 🙂

  65. Tim Knight says:

Stanger, Timmons had 14 tackles and 2 sacks against us in the playoffs last year in January. I don’t think he’s a guy with little left in the tank. He’s 31, not 36. 🙂

    • stangerx says:

Was I complaining about having him? Think he is one tough-ass MLB run stuffer. Could not like the signing more. Love that we have him. But the Steelers did not re-sign him cause they thought he was on the downside of his potential……you thinking he has Wake in him?

      • Tim Knight says:

I’m going by the last I saw of them. I’m not seeing decline yet. You’ll know it when you see it like with Mario Williams last year. I saw it happen to LT, it was tough watching him be a shell of his former self.

      • Tim Knight says:

Stanger, not challenging you being for signing Timmons. I think we tend to look at 31-32 as old and it simply isn’t the case for a lot of players. Some guys are more durable for whatever reason. Timmons has missed 2 games in his entire career and has had some of his best seasons the last 2 years. I’m hoping we got a guy who still has another two good seasons in him and not tapped out as we get him.

    • stangerx says:

I am right with you one all that TIm. Really like having TImmons. And heck yeah he is one durable guy….not injury resume at all. My favorite signing this year. Hoping the Steelers front office looks stupid not for keeping him.

      • Tim Knight says:

They can do that because they retool prior to it being a necessity. That’s been their formula for years. They let Joey Porter walk and he had 5.5, 17.5 and 9.0 sacks for us in 3 seasons as a 3-4 OLB.

      • stangerx says:

Joey Porter is not going to win points with me as a Phins example……but I get your point. Again…..hoping the Steelers after say they made a bad move. Sure would be nice to be them though.

  66. son of a son of a shula says:

Adam Gase went home to decide what he would do. He said to himself, should I coach the Dolphins who are a shit storm?”
or should I look for a team a little further along?
As he ponders this the only thing he can see is a small little Mike Tannenbaum sitting on his shoulder saying the only thing he said the entire day. The only thing Tannenbaum said all day while Gase toured the facility, met the guys, saw the film room, what could be his new office, the Saban Bubble as he looked at all of it Tannenbaum simply replied after each nod of approval from Gase…

    …And we have Suh

and you know the rest so far

    • stangerx says:

Poetic Son…….even if thing not went though Gase’s mind. He was just looking for a team to mold like he wanted, but yeah Tanny not being an obstacle to that might have played in as well. Young Shula.

  67. Mike E. says:

I read Son’s post maybe a little too quickly, I thought he said Timmons was coming to the Fest this year, and at first I thought that was the coolest thing, but then i realized he probably has to play the game.

Think Rock is done and that is too bad, but least him not being there meant my wife’s Jet fan friend from NY could come…..was worrying if that would be a puke green jersey good mix with him.

good one… LOL but you didn’t answer the question about what round Nick Bounacatti was drafted in. If we could get the production from this years same draft pick in that round in today’s nfl we might be competing for the SB for the next decade.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_Buoniconti
that 102 pick is a 4th round pick in 2017

  71. Mike E. says:

    jetssuck

I do think they were both great players in their day. Zach was #154 in the 5th RD, so the Dolphins got great value out of both Nick and Zach. Hard to compare players from different eras, but no need, both were great players.

  72. Mike E. says:

    Stanger,

Is that your wife’s friend? lol

    • jetsssuck says:

too bad we didn’t have a fourth rounder we may have hit on a Nick Bounaciiti but don’t worry we have Car roooooooooooooo!

    • jetsssuck says:

I get it now why they gave the boat load of picks to get car roooooo-they save money from draft, several rounds traded less money they doll out to draftee’s not being drafted so they can pay Suh….I understand the logic behind the trading of all the draft picks now.

  73. son of a son of a shula says:

just sayin so you understand I’m just sayin but that’s not a BIG brother that’s a “little” brother you make the decisions, just sayin

So I’m on a last minute trip to VA beach with my sister and one of our friends. We get an uber to go to dinner. The driver says to me, you look familiar, and I say I get that a lot. And he says I bet you do. Wtf does that mean???

I cannot stand Deion Sanders. Actually I despise him there’s nothing I like about him at all nothing.

On this video from NFL Total Access used to morons should not even be on television. The one guy while comparing Edelman to Landry says that he would rather have Edelman because he’s the guy that will get you horizontally wow Landry is the guy that coaches and players worry about vertically……
And then Dieon Sanders start saying I don’t know another wide receiver on the Dolphins but I know Landry I don’t know any other wide receivers I don’t know who the quarterback is for the Dolphins but I know Landry. and then he proceeds to take a slurp on the collective Patriots cock by agreeing that Edelman Brady and Belichick are the greatest

  79. Rockphin says:

    When I saw the photo that Stanger posted above I threw up in my mouth a little. You are right Son it is a no-brainer I definitely should go to Mexico. I just cannot see past the puke green. Doesn’t matter how attractive she might really be, if it has a Jets Jersey on it looks like this to me;
