Dolphins go to 0-5 – Look even uglier in person at Fest game

Well, thanks to the Dolphins generous defense, we managed to make RB Adrian Peterson look like AP circa 2014. Peterson ran over and around our defense to the tune of 118 yards on 23 carries for a healthy 5.1 YPC. That’s more than half his season output. Ah, it wasn’t just the defense that smelled bad, the offense was worse. Josh Rosen looked confounded by the Redskins pass rush and wasn’t up to the task on Sunday. I have no problem with Coach Flores naming Rosen the starter and then pulling him from the game. Just because he named him the starter doesn’t mean he’s not accountable for his play. He was awful and deserved to be pulled, and for what it was worth, Fitzpatrick handled the offense better than Rosen. We all knew this season was going to be ugly but many of us thought the Dolphins had a decent shot to beat the Redskins in our house.

Now the schedule becomes difficult again with a trip north to Buffalo. Buffalo’s defense is heads and shoulders better than the Redskins so that game in Orchard Park will be even more challenging for young Josh Rosen. Hopefully our game plan has him up to speed. This past week it was RB Mark Walton who got some action and he looked pretty good doing so. Drake and Ballage both took a back seat to Walton in production as Walton lead the team with 75 yards rushing and receiving combined. Drake got more action in the 2nd half with Fitzpatrick as the short passing game was used often. I saw us using 6 OL a few times to no avail, and I also multiple TE formations. Our O-line is bad folks, and it may look worse against an aggressive Bills defense.

Hey, whaddaya know, our defense got no sacks this past week! No Taco time? Charles Harris remains sackless! Read that as you like. 🙂 I realized the most painful thing about watching the game in the stadium is you can’t change the channel on the 4 big screens. Oh how I wished that I could!

GO DOLPHINS!

Our anniversary is two weeks to the day from yesterday, Friday. It was also 9 weeks to the day I pulled the plug. I struggled all day.

I am so very grateful for all of the efforts and dedications. I believed I have listened to all of it and last night’s this morning. Thanks again.

Hey Krishna – good to see you on, and glad the boys can keep you entertained here. My best to you pal, I hope you can find happiness in whatever you do

  9. mf13ss says:

Jalen Hurts… WOW, he’s certainly making a case to be taken early in the 2020 Draft. But as I stated nearly a month ago, I need to see him against greater competition. His stats look very, very sexy… but he’s got to do it against top-level teams. We shall see in the near future, but he’s undoubtedly one helluva talent. He can pass and he can run.

    • mf13ss says:

Geez, these guys on Fox are stating nearly everything I’m stating… even going so far as to use the word “sexy” regarding his stats! LOL

  10. stangerx says:

A writer from the New Yorker tried to turn the game against the Skins into an epic by Homer replete with “to tank or not”. Worth a read. Just a sample:
    ————–
“The discomfort of all this is not, I suspect, lost on the Dolphins’s first-year coach, Brian Flores. Standing on the sidelines with a desolate, faraway gaze, he has the look of a man attending a junk-ship regatta on the banks of the Styx. Flores has made it clear that he is not trying to lose, and there is no reason to doubt him. The essence of the tank lies not in throwing games, but in fielding a team that makes losing a foregone conclusion.”

Without even clicking on the link (just reading the quote ya posted), I can tell that the writer UNDERSTANDS what I’ve been stating over the last couple of weeks.

And really, it’s not that difficult to understand.

      • stangerx says:

If you think that worth clicking on the link. Really interestingly written. Like a college prof looking at the game we all saw last Sunday.

  11. pheloniusphish says:

I was on the Hurts train early, but I’ve stepped off onto the platform to consider. I can’t decide if this years success is a product of Lincoln’s system, which has put out two questionable (in my mind) QB. His numbers at Alabama were pedestrian. Even last year’s 72.9 completion rate is misleading because he only threw 70 passes in 13 games. Size-wise, he is a RGIII clone. We saw how well he held up in the NFL. Just not sold on Hurts yet. Clearly my third choice.

  12. The Flying Pig says:

I’m not sure how to say this to ya, my friend. How about this… after college, I began to realize that my college profs were living in a bubble… and that’s how it generally works, across America. They really and truly don’t have any relevance nor experience in life, PERIOD… except for brain-washing ya into a certain train of thought. And today? It’s worse than ever before, regarding liberal indoctrination, and the outrageous college debt accumulated by today’s college student (profs continue to want rai$es).

These same profs SCORN those who choose SERVICE (military) over college.

Alright, I’m getting windy now like an old man. $#!t, I was actually called out for being a “grandpa” last week on Twitter by a boatload of college students!

POINT: I don’t need a gat-dam ‘professor sound-alike’ to tell me or US how to think… ESPECIALLY when it comes to the game of football. Eloquent writing does NOT equal intelligence on that which someone speaks.

As it pertains to this game of football (which we ALL LOVE!!!), I’ll give more credence to someone who KNOWS the game… rather than someone who FAKES knowing the game, via elegant words.

EXAMPLE: I trust and respect our RANDY (how goes it, buddy!) over the likes of a Peter King.

I give you my apologies in advance, Stanger… I just don’t dig the narrative of ‘prof-talk’. Some of us have already beaten it to the punch. And if ya don’t dig my analogy from a few weeks ago: “sailing a bare-boned vessel into the seas of uncertainty”, I don’t know what else to tell ya, my buddy! 🙂

But seriously, I’m not trying to be a d!ck, here. This blog is OUTSTANDING. It should do your heart good to hear others echoing that which some of us have already stated.

Cool enough M13. I found the article interesting and was suggesting a read. And author agreed with stuff you have been saying over and over. Wasn’t actually written by a prof either. You didn’t want to hit on the link then you didn’t. No problem with that.

FIRST, congrats to Herd for her Marshall football team’s last minute score last night to beat FAU 36-31. Watched the game until the 2-minute warning. Then a big rain band from tropical storm Nestor knocked DIRECTV off the air, with FAU leading 31-30. Had to call a buddy in Ohio to find out who won the game!! Things got noisy and very windy here, but no tornadoes in our immediate area. However, at least a couple of twisters touched down not too far away. One in the Kathleen sector of Lakeland (where Ray Lewis was raised) did a ton of damage to several dozen homes.

JUST MADE a special trip to get Mrs. OD her favorite Pumpkin ice cream sundae. She enjoyed it immensely!!! Tomorrow we may go wheel chair shopping because she now has great difficulty using a walker. Hopefully her surgery on Wednesday will do away with this “wheelchair” talk. But the surgeon has told us there are no guarantees with this upcoming procedure. Seeing my beloved wife in a chair is very hard for me to take.
    —————
MY TAKE on tomorrow’s Miami @ Buffalo game is this. Fitzmagic is capable of making a competitive contest out of this game. But, in the end, the Bills’ defensive line will dominate Miami’s offensive line, especially in the second half. And the Bills should run wild on this day. Devan Singletary, who’s been out for a month with a hamstring issue, should get at least 6-10 carries against Miami. The man who scored 55 TOUCHDOWNS the last two years at Florida Atlantic may get another one at Ralph Wilson Stadium. I think Singletary will prove to be one of Buffalo’s most successful draft picks of 2019.
    PREDICTION: BUFFALO — 38
MIAMI — 13 Bills easily cover the 17-point spread. But I hope I’m wrong.

  20. Tim Knight says:

The comment about putting a roster on the field that can’t win games is how you tank is the biggest duh!!!! That’s the byproduct of stripping down a roster during a rebuild. You’re no longer a good team. That’s why the constant use of the tank word is silly.

    • stangerx says:

It’s a long article and a lot of it about tanking with details. But guess I’m the only one on the board who will ever read it. 🙂

One plus from there from the author is that he thinks we planned on being bad but the Skins stumbled into it. With some bad words for Snyder too, which always warms my heart.

      • Tim Knight says:

I just don’t feel like reading it at least not right now. I agree with the last paragraph and I’ve said that here. We had a plan to do this, other teams are having very disappointing seasons.

  31. manitobafinfan says:

    Astros win … congrats WYO

    Too bad Piggie…

    I hate the Yankees 🤫

  32. the first pick is Tua’s to lose, he is the top player in the nation, 2020 mock draft

Miami Dolphins: Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama
It’s quite obvious by now that the Dolphins are tanking. Miami acquired Josh Rosen, but that doesn’t matter. Teams have selected plenty of first-round quarterbacks after using a pick in the second frame on a signal-caller the year before. The Cardinals even established precedent for doing so with consecutive first-rounders!

The hero of the national championship against Georgia, Tua Tagovailoa has a big arm and scrambling ability, and will undoubtedly draw comparisons to Russell Wilson.

  33. Tua is at the top of EVERY Mock draft that i can find. he is the most dominant choice of mocks number one I have ever seen
and yet every week someone here is saying he didnt look good in the saturday game. lol
even Omar doesnt hate QB this much

some of the criticism should go to OTHER players besides the top guy, jus sayin

if they are so great, why isnt their names atop the leader boards in the mocks?

last year the mocks called for Kyler Murray to go first, but many here said no way, hes not that good, etc

but NFL GMs never listen to us,,,,,

  34. i get the sense some will be royally pissed off if Miami selects Tua. they would prefer the Fins reach down for a lessor talent

i wont be in that crowd, Id love to see him come in to town and shake things up, first pick needs to be BPA

  35. 1. Miami Dolphins: Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama

Josh Rosen isn’t the long-term answer in Miami and Tagovailoa is the best quarterback in this draft. So this is a no-brainer. Tua is an incredibly accurate passer, can hit receivers in stride all over the field, moves well in the pocket and has adequate arm strength. He’s a gamer who does what it takes to win and leads from the front. This would be a franchise-changing pick for Miami. Something the franchise desperately needs at this point.

    Go Dolphins

    • Mike E. says:

Game Day means about 1/1000 of what it should mean for me this season. It just means I need to check my FF rosters, which also suck this year. lol

  37. Mike E. says:

I have a bunch of good friends that are Yankees fans, yet still I fucking hate the Yankees. This started a long time ago with my then best friend Randy who was a Yankees fan and always gave me shit about how bad the Mets were and then of course how great the Yankees were in the late 70’s. Then sports radio became popular and it’s clear that far too many Yankees are assholes, at least the ones that called into the radio station.

Congrats to Wyo and the Astros, happy they won so I don’t have to listen to all those asshole Yankees fans on the radios much longer.

  38. Mike E. says:

Toba – Sorry man, didn’t mean to get you all embarrassed. lol

  39. Mike E. says:

I’m in a bad way this week because of BYE’s and injuries. Who would you play today between Preston Williams or Mark Walton?

  40. Mike E. says:

The best player isn’t necessarily at the top of all draft boards, just the player that fits the team that they think will be choosing #1. Kyler Murray and the Cards is a perfect example.

  41. olddolphan says:

EVEN I wasn’t around when the Washington Senators won their last World Series in 1924. The winning pitcher was none other than The Big Train, himself, Walter Johnson, who won a mind boggling 417 major league games!!! Johnson NEVER pitched batters inside, never “dusted them off,” for fear of hitting them with a fastball that old-timers claim may have exceeded 95 MPH. So while I like a lot of players on the Astros, I may be rooting for the franchise that hasn’t won a World Series in 95 YEARS!!!

For our first 10 years back in Florida, local station WTSP has always carried Dolphins’ games on Sundays. But,recently, the CBS affiliate announced they no longer would televise them because of extremely low TV ratings. Today, instead, they’ll show the Packers game at 1:00 PM. Guess Tampa Bay Dolfans aren’t interested in TANKING.

    • stangerx says:

Herd — sometimes Toba has been known to play mother hen on things like a bye week player being played. Think he did for me while was on vacation. Obviously you can set up exactly as you want.

      • herdfan says:

Well, no, I can’t. I was going to make changes but I’m not sure these are the changes I would have made or the players I would have gotten. I’ve been out of town this weekend, cut off from the internet and cell phones, but I knew I was getting home around noon, I was going to take care of it.

Despite the results, I have been managing my team, I’m not just letting it go so not sure why that was necessary with my team. I’ve seen it go for weeks with others and there’s IA players, bye week players…and no changes are made. I’ve just been away a few days and was going to be last minute making changes…..but I was going to be doing it.

      • stangerx says:

The one thing am sure of is that Toba was only trying to help. Have no idea what your line-up looked like before but do see all those bye week players on the bench and that seems he moved at 12:47. And have no doubt in the world you were going to change up. Like said, he’s done the same for me.
