Secondary to none

Xavien Howard at Left Cornerback, Byron Jones at Right Cornerback. Bobby McCain at Free Safety and Eric Rowe at Strong Safety. I believe this is our best secondary in a long time. Both Howard and Jones can be lockdown corners. Howard has the INT’s but Jones is regarded as one of the top cover corners in the NFL and shuts down the receivers he’s on. A healthy Bobby McCain this season will be better than he was last year struggling with a shoulder injury. Eric Rowe who has played a lot of different positions much like McCain, really seemed to find himself at Strong Safety. I thought he played his best ball there and his elite athleticism is a big plus at safety.

We drafted another CB who will likely be our slot and nickel corner in RD1 pick #30, Noah Igbinoghene (Iggy Mahogany). Those 5 guys in addition to up and comers like Nik Needham, Stevie Parker, Ken Webster and Ryan Lewis makes our depth legitimate. At safety we have 3 young vets who provide nice depth in Clay Fejedelem, Adrian Colbert and Kavon Frazier and a very promising rookie who may end up rising to the top of the depth chart before long in Brandon Jones. Add in a CB who at one time seemed like a potential starter in Cordrea Tankersley. Tank started 11 games in 2017 replacing Byron Maxwell who we picked up from Philly. Tank definitely showed promise in 2017 but suffered a season ending ACL injury in 2018. He was placed on the PUP in 2019 while recovering but couldn’t make it back last year. This is Tank’s final year on his contract so I expect he will be looking to crack the lineup to get himself another contract next year either here or elsewhere.

Having two shutdown corners should make a huge difference for our defense. We all know we’ve struggled to get to the QB the last few years but the additions we made this offseason in both free agency (Kyle Van Noy, ShaqLawson, Emmanuel Ogbah) as well as in the draft (Raekwon Davis, Curtis Weaver, Jason Strowbridge) will give us a lot more juice in the pass rush department. Pairing that potentially dominant secondary with an upgraded pass rush could yield excellent results from our defense. I don’t about all of you people here, I’m really looking forward to seeing this defense grow this year!

GO DOLPHINS!!

The issue as I see it is, pro United States vs. tear it down and start over in some new way. What is that?

  2. Rockphin says:

Did anyone else think it was ironic that one of the disqualifying activities for players to get paid if the get Covid was if they attended professional sports!?!?

  3. Rockphin says:

-Those rules ban going to the following locations or attending the following events if more than 15
people are present: indoor nightclubs, indoor bars (except to take out food), indoor house parties,
    indoor concerts, professional sporting events

if you vote for Biden you are voting for a corrupt Govt. these hard left politicians have done illegal activities that can be proven, some will be prosecuted.
They spied on Trump during the election, they spent your tax dollar impeaching him. they used false FISA warrants to destroy people asoc with Trump, the list goes on and on. your tax dollar is being spent for the purpose of the left to gain power.
if you watch congress you can see that all they are doing is politically posturing with any and every mechanism they can use, they could care less about the problems they spew, they keep repeating the same nonsense.
Trump may have a big mouth but what has he done that’s corrupt?
he’s not spying on Biden, he’s not destroying people with false FISA warrants.
he’s being attacked at every turn, it’s human nature to defend yourself.
you shoud be able to see the hard left politicians as corrupt as hell, all they want is power and are willing to drag your tax dollar thru the mud to achieve that!
do you actually want a corrupt Biden as your president? a man who got rich off of china! or Trump who demands China plays fair?

Wikipedia: Fox News has been described as practicing biased reporting in favor of the Republican Party, the George W. Bush and Donald Trump administrations, and conservative causes while portraying the Democratic Party in a negative light.[15][16][17][18] Critics have cited the channel as detrimental to the integrity of news overall.[19][20] Fox News employees have said that news reporting operates independently of its opinion and commentary programming, and have denied bias in news reporting, while former employees have said that Fox ordered them to “slant the news in favor of conservatives”.[21] During Trump’s presidency, observers have noted a pronounced tendency of the Fox News Channel to serve as a “mouthpiece” for the administration, providing “propaganda” and a “feedback loop” for Trump, with one presidential scholar stating, “It’s the closest we’ve come to having state TV.

      • steveccnv says:

Wikipedia is open source, anyone can put anything in there. So your argument source is from some biased person on the left saying Fox News is biased, brilliant.

      • ocalarob says:

Funny you should point out FOX as being biased and all the other news outlets are unbiased, is this what you’re trying to say?
If i want a good laugh i watch CNN.

i steer away from hard left and also hard right news organizations, i don’t Watch OAN i also don’t watch CNN or any other leftwing biased news organizations because they are all the same.
Fox is “Biased Light” just give me the Walter Cronkite version

    • steveccnv says:

Biden and the left will say anything for power. He has flip flopped back and forth on so many issues, no wonder his brain is mush.

Not only is the left spending your money foolishly, their local govt like Seattle will be charging its citizens monthly to rebuild the destruction CHAZ created and they let happen.

  5. steveccnv says:

I mean this was Trump yesterday on Fauci:

“And he’s got this high approval rating. So why don’t I have a high approval rating with respect — and the administration — with respect to the virus? We should have it very high.”

Give me a break Fucci has high approval, because Trump clashes with him. In other words he says things that are in line with the left.

Trump is just pointing out the MSM bias.

    • CavalierKong says:

That is just making excuses for his weak, narcissistic, egocentric behavior.

He was talking about the fact people that are polled generally have a favorable view of Fauci and not him because it eats at him, and it, along with reelection are the only two things that really matter to him. It reminds me of the kinds of remarks a child that can’t understand why everything isn’t always about him/her makes.

It’s pretty unbelievable that he tries to tie his approval rating to Fauci’s when, as I said before, he has contradicted him and hindered the message he puts out every step of the way. They have been on opposite side of the issue nearly the whole time (until Trump realized his reelection chances hinged on changing his stance).

      • steveccnv says:

I watched a video of Trump, back in 2016. The title had something to do with how he wins debates. They mentioned that public perception is all that matters, reality means nothing to people, so when he’s tweeting that’s what he’s doing, setting up public perception.

Most of the time, when he’s just talking or tweeting, you have to read between the lines you can’t take it literally. He’s also changing the MSM narrative that the left has dominated for 50 years, and that drives them crazy, like joyless behar saying, why does he lie so much? This explains why, to change public perception, it’s not about facts. He takes facts and manipulates them to favor himself, like all politicians do.

What do you think the MSM is doing when the reporter is standing in front of a burning building saying, the protestors are peaceful? Or Biden saying no quid pro quo, when there’s a video with him bragging about it?

  6. wyoming85 says:

    canamdolphin
I watched the whole Barr “inquisition” live on CSPAN on Tuesday.

ALL the “news” channels should be ashamed of the crap they put out yesterday!

It’s a shame you have to assume every news report is a lie! 😦

  7. Mike E. says:

Philip – I think Fox News is necessary to at a minimum offer different viewpoints than every other liberal news media outlet. It’s not just how the other news networks say things and their viewpoints it’s also the content, the things they choose to show over and over again and even more importantly, the things they choose to omit. There is such a bias in what all these networks display, so while Fox News is definitely skewed, it’s really no more skewed than any of the other networks.

  8. CavalierKong says:

Yesterday I saw a clip of Trump and Barbara Walters from I think the late 80’s. And Trump was using the EXACT same playbook he uses today. He blames every single negative thing that is ever said about him on fake news and unfair coverage. The man has been playing victim his whole life and his fans eat it up.

He creates a combative atmosphere around himself, treats people horribly if they don’t agree with him, then whines and complains about unfair treatment.

People talk about how the liberals have created all this unrest in America, and I agree they are using it for political gain. But Trump supporters can’t see how Trump has created an atmosphere that allows this to happen and allows the left to stoke these fires. Obama did something very similar (in a different way) and gets reamed for it, but Trump supporters don’t see it in him. Instead they excuse his reprehensible behavior any way possible. And it’s easy when any negative thing said about you can be written off as fake news.

    • steveccnv says:

Well maybe fake news should try reporting some real news. They dug that grave.

What you don’t understand about Trump supporters is talk is just that, they care about what he’s doing for the country, the economy, jobs…and don’t care about the daily chatter. They’d also like to see a little justice once in a while for those in the left. They also don’t want the anarchist group BLM to destroy the country, that the left condones.

The left has littered our kids minds with their propaganda for years, but all anyone cares about is Trump’s tweets.

  9. steveccnv says:

It’s pretty unbelievable that he tries to tie his approval rating to Fauci’s

Again it’s just public perception, once you understand that, it’s really not that unbelievable.

  10. steveccnv says:

What do you think all this BLM BS around the world is? It’s the globalists uniting to spread their propaganda. They’ve really dupped black athletes into thinking it’s about them.

  11. Mike E. says:

C’mon, it would be nice if our President didn’t behave like a 10 year old bully that everyone hates. It really would. He’s embarrassing.

  12. CavalierKong says:

Yes, it’s public perception. Trump plays his people like a fiddle. I understand the point about not caring what he says, but instead what he does. I actually agree with some some of his policies. Not his foreign policy of isolation, nor his use of rhetoric to stoke fear, but his stance on China, his affect on the economy, I’m good with those. But I refuse to let a politicians policies be his only measure, because, especially with the president, the face he presents and the things he says are often just as important.

What his supporters miss by dismissing his nature and his hate speech, and what they don’t understand is, if you are a demagogue and you use rhetoric and create an atmosphere of hate and distrust, then you create a society that thrives on fomenting and sowing discord which is great for extremist elements on both sides.

Lo and behold, what has happened to our country? We’re a shitstorm of extremist voices acting out. But go on believing it’s all the democrats and leftist behavior and that Trump has nothing to do with our current situation.

    • steveccnv says:

Sure Trump has something to do wit it, but it’s mostly the left fighting the drain the swamp.

Funny to see you refer to hate speech, the great talking point of the left, made up by them to further their narrative.

      • CavalierKong says:

Spin. Do you really need to see a bunch of Trump quotes that can easily be categorized as hate speech?

  13. CavalierKong says:

It’s hilarious to attribute some highly intelligent scheme to Trump’s midnight tweet storms. They are stream of consciousness, nothing more. That is why his handlers are constantly trying to put out fires.

Are you telling me the video he tweeted of a guy yelling white power was some clever tactic by Trump?

We believe what we want to believe. And even though that statement can be thrown right back at me, lol I get that 😉 I don’t have to come up with any spin to point out time and again and again and again Trump’s reprehensible behavior or the horrible things he says. It’s all in black and white.

    • steveccnv says:

You for sure have heard he didn’t know the guy yelled out white power and retracted, but why is it that every time he’s associated to far right he must denounce or face backlash and the left never has to denounce the far left, the anarchists, BLM…?

      • CavalierKong says:

I know that he hadn’t heard it. I’m not using this as an example of him being racist, and to be honest I don’t think he’s racist, just a bigot.

I’m using it as an example that he isn’t using some clever tactic and super intelligent scheme when he does this stuff, but instead is throwing out things he likes that stoke his ego. If it was clever he wouldn’t miss the guy yelling white power in the video he retweets, lol.

  14. CavalierKong says:

In all honestly, the group I feel the worst for in all this mess is the GOP. The party was hijacked, and most of them are just riding it out and hoping with the rest of us non-Trump supporters that he doesn’t get 4 more years.

I was hoping he would keep pissing against the wind with his stance on COVID for a couple more months, but he got smart and realized he had zero chance to win if he didn’t fliflop.

    • Mike E. says:

I think there is going to be a huge backlash this election. If there’s a big voting turnout, Trump is history. Only way he win is if people are complacent.

      • CavalierKong says:

I thought the same until he changed his stance on COVID. It was a good move for him.

He has 3 months now to try and rewrite the narrative and pull some of that independent vote. People have very short memories.

Now I’m just expecting another four years of Trump, and if he loses it’ll be a nice treat. Then we can all start practicing our Chinese and investing in the yuan, lol.

      • pheloniusphish says:

“Now I’m just excited another four years of Trump!”

There Ape…I fixed it for you.

      • CavalierKong says:

Cheers! I don’t know what I’d do without my handlers. Probably just go rampaging around the city looking for blondes, lol.

    • Mike E. says:

That was such a neglectful and horrible take on Godchaux. This guy probably never watched a Dolphins game. Godchaux was all over the place, he made 75 fucking tackles! That is a real horseshit job there. Besides, while I hope raekwon does well there are probably 3 other rookies on the Fins I’d pick before Davis

    • CavalierKong says:

LOL, I agree, that guy has never watched a Dolphins game. Yes, let’s get rid of the young veteran who has always overachieved. out of all the players on the team, THAT is the guy he came up with to replace? Not Mccain, not um hello Fitzpatrick? LOL, he had a gimme with Fitz. Doh!

    • canamdolphin says:

If Brian Flores channels his inner Belichick, he’ll trade Godchaux (UFA 2021) and get that $2.1M cap savings with $50,000 dead money. Didn’t Flores do the same with Tunsil and Fits-patrick?
      DEAD MONEY
      Reshad Jones $10,100,000
      Minkah Fitzpatrick $5,021,006
      Kiko Alonso $2,262,500
      T.J. McDonald $1,904,000
      Kenny Stills $1,750,000
      Charles Harris $1,506,632
      Taco Charlton $458,000
      Michael Roberts $200,000
      Isaiah Prince $112,740
      TOTAL $23,473,85

    • steveccnv says:

When you follow one team, you can be granular about what’s really going on. These guys that put out articles like this don’t really know the ins and outs of each team, they mostly just lookup beat writer articles and form their opinion off of it, so don’t put too much stock into there validity.

  15. CavalierKong says:

    Steve,
You know what I hate most about this argument we’re having over Trump. By it’s nature it puts me in line with liberals and democrats when i am far more conservative than that. Give me ANY other nominee on the right, and I’ll take him all day long over Biden.

    • steveccnv says:

      Lol

    • D says:

      CommieKong 🙂

    • stangerx says:

I at least like Biden better than Hillary, not that is saying much. Talked to two secret service guys about her when back in DC. One had been on her personal detail and hated her. The other told a story about her that even if 2nd hand was real bad. Included hitting her driver in the back of the head with her shoe. She’s got quite a temper on her.

      • steveccnv says:

It’s kind of the better of 2 evils situation, and although I’m with your choice, I’m not sure which one is better for the staff.

Hilllary has been known to be very ruthless, but Biden is a pedophile and a sexual predator, so…

      • stangerx says:

steve — that’s a huge bash on Biden. Pedophile and a sexual predator? You think Trump is a choir boy? We get going tit for tat and could fill up the board all day long.

      • steveccnv says:

I’m not saying Trump is a choir boy. He’s surely had some extra-marital affairs, but nothing illegal like Biden. I’m sure you’ve seen Biden on stage, with no shame, stroking these little girls in front of their parents, and there’s lots of stories about him putting the moves on women, without their consent, some of it pretty bad, but that’s just Joe being Joe, so…

      • stangerx says:

steve — Trump at least has been accused of conduct that would constitute illegal sexual assault. What’s he have like 16 accusers in the last election? Then he trotted out the Bill Clinton accusers before one of the debates…. and some of them might have been right. Doesn’t make the ones about Trump wrong though.

  16. CavalierKong says:

So have the Fins announced any kind of practice schedule? Do we know what a ‘normal’ week is going to look like or are we still in the testing and making sure everyone can make it to work phase?

  17. stangerx says:

RIP Herman Cain — “He attended a rally for President Donald Trump in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in June, less than two weeks before he was diagnosed” with the Covid that killed him.

  18. CavalierKong says:

    Stang,

My biggest problem with Hilary (other than everything), is you aren’t allowed to be president more than twice.

    • stangerx says:

LOL Cav — it is funny though….. the stories I heard about hit Hillary locked me down the most. Which is strange since I bash the new anecdote driven decision-making these days. The one guy talked too who was on white house detail loved Bill Clinton and GW, but hated Hillary. I go no politics involved. Maybe he just had a problem with strong women.

  19. steveccnv says:

I’d say Biden is somewhere in between hilllary and Bill. He’s got the Hilllary corruption, but not as bad, and the Bill horndog, but not as bad. I don’t think he would have anyone whacked like the Clinton’s have allegedly.

I’ll call him a clinton lite, and before that wise guy says not that there’s anything wrong with that, not that kind of lite😉

  20. bailbondmike says:

Don’t know why Fauci has such a high approval rating. He has flip flopped over the course of fighting this virus, especially with wearing masks. I don’t care if you don’t like conspiracy theory’s or not. To me this IS a conspiracy, not a theory. He predicted (50 seconds in) “THERE WILL BE A SUPRISE OUTBREAK” during Trump’s presidency. Not might, possibly or could be. He said there will be. He tries to put it on history but it is one hell of a coincidence that he was so right and it just happens to happen in an election year. At the 2:10 mark he talks about failure to look beyond our borders and “not only things that are there that will come here but SURPRISES”
Also, back in 2014, the Obama administration prohibited the U.S. from giving money to any laboratory, including U.S. laboratories, that were fooling around with these viruses. It was prohibited. Despite that, Dr. Fauci gave $3.7 million to the Wuhan laboratory. And then even after the State Department issued reports about how unsafe that laboratory was, and how suspicious they were in the way they were DEVELOPING A VIRUS that could be transmitted to humans, they still got their money.

Dr. Fauci is nothing but a rabid wolf in sheep’s clothing and people are blind to it. The people (sheeple) who approve of him only do so cause he contradicts Trump half the time.

    • CavalierKong says:

I can’t see the video so forgive me if some of this is answered in there.

So the guy who has been the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984 predicted there would be an outbreak? Wow, that’s insanity! lol

I just want to make sure I understand your stance. Do you believe Fauci and China created COVID on purpose to what? get rid of Trump? or was it for global control?

How exactly does Fauci get ahead by this other than a continual beat down? And if it’s so obvious, why why is he still leading Trump’s task force? Is Trump blind to it?

    • steveccnv says:

He says what the left wants to hear, anything that goes against Trump, and since they control the media, the media makes him look good.

Don’t know why people aren’t up in arms about how a political party controls the MSM, that’s what a communist country does. The only difference is, they don’t put you in jail for going against them yet, but they’re working on it. Hate speech, political correctness, transgender pronouns…

Why are people ok with this?

  21. CavalierKong says:

    CanamDoplhin,

What does the ‘canam’ stand for? For some reason i read it as an abbreviation of Canada, and I know that isn’t right since I’m pretty sure there aren’t any M’s in ‘Canada’, lol.

  22. steveccnv says:

Joe gets very little backlash for all the things he’s done, imagine, if Trump had called the girl the dog faced pony soldier, or called the guy look here fats, or said he was going to take someone behind the gym, or had the sexual assault charges against him, or said on tape he committed quid pro quo, or spied on an incoming president…

  23. wyoming85 says:

    Next?

    • steveccnv says:

He just wants to be in the spot light. I take anything he says with a grain of salt, just like I do with WHO.

However, this actually makes sense. If you can get it through eyes, nose, mouth, and probably ears, why would goggles be any different than wearing a mask, except with goggles they actually might be preventative.

  24. bailbondmike says:

I wonder how many who have had it and recovered or no longer test positive. I guess they wouldn’t be able to opt out for the season or could they?

    https://www.nfl.com/news/recovered-dolphins-players-donating-plasma-for-covid-19-relief

    • CavalierKong says:

They could still opt out, but I think they would fall into the category of no accrued season and only $150g.

      LOL @ only $150g

  25. CavalierKong says:

“He just wants to be in the spot light. I take anything he says with a grain of salt, just like I do with WHO.”

This kind of statement I can agree with. That isn’t wild conspiracy theory, it’s human nature, and probably true.

    • stangerx says:

I think it is more about Fauci doesn’t say inject bleach or that Covid will just go “poof.” So not much how great Fauci is but what he is compared too….. that plus Fauci will correct.

  26. CavalierKong says:

I also want to make sure nobody spins my statements into anything other than they were. My statements were entirely about the Prez. I have never professed to being a Fauci fan.

So if it bothers you that people in the country generally approve of Fauci, then bash away if it makes you feel better, just don’t append it to my stances. And I’m not saying it’s been done, I’m just being preemptive.

    • stangerx says:

It’s not just that is Fauci…… just that Fauci is the guy putting out the science.

      • steveccnv says:

Fauci has his own agenda, I wouldn’t put too much into him putting out science.

      • CavalierKong says:

i honestly haven’t paid enough attention to Fauci to form an opinion.

      • stangerx says:

So if you aren’t going to count on the scientists who are you going to count on? We already know the US has blown Covid badly.

    • pheloniusphish says:

Does preemptive mean you are a preemie? A very small giant ape? BTW – running around town looking for blondes is a perfectly legit activity. Swatting helicopters is a different story.

      • CavalierKong says:

LOL, that would make me quite the oxymoron. And although rampaging for blondes may be legal, Mrs. Kong has a different viewpoint on that activity.

  27. CavalierKong says:

Damn it, Steve, why did you have to start the day off by engaging me? I honestly was just going to relax, take a break from the board, read and not post today. Now I’m embroiled in a morning long political debate. 🙂

I am going to try to be done with politics for today, gentlemen.

  28. pheloniusphish says:

Fauci is mostly reacting to the science. Of course the thing about science is that it all about proving the null hypothesis. which means being wrong a lot of times until you get it right. No one should put much stock in science as it is happening.

    • stangerx says:

There is no doubt about that. Doesn’t mean that science isn’t more right at a given time though. Look how Europe has handled the pandemic.

      • pheloniusphish says:

You can only compare to Europe if you aggregate all European countries. They don’t look anywhere near as good then.

      • stangerx says:

Perhaps Europe doesn’t look as good then, but they are mostly past it. Sorta of like NY now. Isn’t the key point where it is now? They won’t let you or me fly there for a reason.

  29. wyoming85 says:

Fauci and the CDC sound like all the Safety-persons I have ever worked with.

Well this is the Minimum requirements – Blah Blah Blah
This is the recommended requirements – Blah Blah Blah
This is what can really keep you safe!

  30. steveccnv says:

This political debate is like Forex, you have to look at the indicators, then slant your head side ways, then squint and whatever appears is how you should react.

  31. CavalierKong says:

    Stang,

Remember that Dolphins mask you posted about. I got it, and it is pretty awesome. I get compliments from other football fans everywhere I go. I’ve got a few different Fins masks, but that is the only one that gets comments.

    • steveccnv says:

I have a VGK mask, but the NFL are sold here locally in the Walmart parking lot, pretty good quality too.

    • stangerx says:

You are making a statement for sure. Fashion statement. I’m running plain black like I’m a guy protecting our Pres…. or one of his advisors.

  32. bailbondmike says:

Cav, I wouldn’t think of spinning your comments and appreciate your response. You have to know by now I love a good conspiracy theory. I am not half as bad as home.

I should have left the conspiracy part out. I just question his approval rating when he was all over the place with wearing masks. First, he said they wouldn’t be affective now it’s a must. Someone who has been in his position for as long as he has should have know right off the bat.

    • stangerx says:

Old enough to remember the don’t wear masks days. Then all of a sudden they said have to wear them. Didn’t have any… but a buddy of mine hooked me up with a couple.

But it’s all the government right? Trump can fire Fauci any time he wants. Our Pres has also told a whopper or four himself. I just can’t figure out why other countries have handled this thing and the USA has not.

      • steveccnv says:

Because they cheat their stats to look good, we cheat ours to get paid, so the other direction. Size matters too, see NY.

      • stangerx says:

You really think that Europe hasn’t taken care of the pandemic better than the US? Actions speak louder than words….. they are opened up. They are the ones who won’t let us in.

    • Mike E. says:

I’m hoping as time progresses things will keep improving and maybe they even all agree on a vaccine. I’m also hopeful the new Oakley face masks will help. I’m just trying to be optimistic pal.

I hope you’re kidding about slowly going out of business. I would hate for that to be the case. I hope things turn around for you quick ER, I hope for that more than I hope for an NFL season.

To start you have to consider the spin put on the title, and who wrote it.

“Those of us who are 70 plus, we’ll take care of ourselves. But don’t sacrifice the country,” Patrick said on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

Those aren’t exactly sacrificial words. He understands the economic issue the country is facing and would put the country before himself. Spoken like a true American.

461,379 COVID cases, 6,586 COVID related deaths in Florida. 2019 population 21.48 million. So a 2% infection rate and a 1.4% death rate. I would say Florida is doing pretty well. Or, yes the sky is indeed falling.

    • pheloniusphish says:

315 hospitals with 70,047 beds. 26,017 total hospitalizations throughout the pandemic. Panic in the disco.

      • D says:

I dont think this last one helps your case though, because your basically saying that the number of beds needed previously would have been 26,017 less than it was with the virus, and even if you average out the months of march through July, that comes out to 6500 or so beds per month taken by Covid patients, and considering roughly a month of recover for those who were sick enough to be hospitalized that means there was an increase in 9-10% increase in hospitalizations. That’s significant in that industry, especially when some need specialized equipment in a limited supply for treatment/recovery. Compound that with fewer staff due to some of them also being in the numbers of those infected or at high risk and unable to perform their duties, then you have an increase in workload higher than the 10% of increased numbers.

Simply said, i think the impact is greater than can be trivialized as nothing to panic about, though i tend to agree with you its extremism on either side of the point, both skewing numbers for the effect of panic or not enough concern. Still I know if i was an organization tracking changes in healthcare to spot early warning signs of something significant, that increase would justify a investigation.

    • D says:

I guess a few of us could flex between the two, because at this point i could give a shit about either side, im just going with my gut these days. Same for the fucking media which is just the cesspool mouthpiece of that other group.

  63. stangerx says:

Herd asked who get the vaccine right away and who would would wait…… I’d be first in line. Only reason I might wait is cause looks like there are going to be several types. So might wait for one that looks better if not the first one out.

    • D says:

Vaccines not tested, ie rush like Kong was saying, very dangerous stuff man. If they take their time and come up with it, and release it through the normal methods of testing (which means it wont be anytime soon) then id be in on it, but otherwise fuck no im not taking it.

      • D says:

Id rather live in the hole i have been living in for the past few months than take the risk on a rushed to market vaccine.

      • stangerx says:

They are doing the normal testing. All 3 phases of the FDA requirements. Even if yeah they are rushing through them. A majority of the time savings are that they are making the stuff before approved. Gonna be a huge financial hit if not approved, but there is a value in first to market on Covid.

  64. Mike E. says:

It’s looking unlikely for a Fest right now. Things can change though, but I don’t see it at the moment.

    • stangerx says:

The no tailgate killed the stadium for me, but we still might get tickets. If came to that would rather do what you said before…..Bokamper’s or wherever. Still an option for you? Places are half open here now. Who knows what it would be in Oct.

      • Mike E. says:

Gotta see what state FLA is in at that point, and of course to see if anyone else feels like making the trip. Who even knows if the NFL season will actually happen and stay afloat. Lots of moving parts man. I’m not going to say there’s no shot the Fest happens for us, but I do think it’s unlikely. I mean we both have/had COVID already but they don’t know if you can get it again and if you do get it again, if it’s worse the 2nd time.

      • stangerx says:

We’ll see what happens, but am absolutely fine deferring the Fest until 2021 like an out of shape LB. Covid makes things complicated….. right now is when folks would be reserving flights, getting hotels, asking for time off work, etc.

    • stangerx says:

        Its shifted 90 degrees😉

      • steveccnv says:

Why would you say they’re radical right?

      • stangerx says:

Cause that is what the Tea Party has been considered in times past. But your comments have gotten me thinking. My idea before was that the political spectrum was actually a circle with the radical ends meeting at some point. Might be where we are heading is to an axis with radical at each of the ends. Thanks for helping on that.

      • steveccnv says:

I see those guys as true conservatives willing to fight for the Constitution and the law. Because it may be the opposite of the radical left, doesn’t make it radical right.

Radical right would be something more in line with what happened in Germany 80 years ago. There’s nothing too radical happening on the right. There may be a few small groups, but that shouldn’t be mistaken for any significant portion of the right.

      • stangerx says:

Truthfully — all those guys are way too wired agenda for me. They attack and attack. Any valid point they deny and then attack some more. Do you think Ronald Reagan was a “true conservative”? Cause my first vote for him and my model for conservative. He never acted like that. I’ll agree that radical or not is all relative though. I just don’t like how they go about things. Offends GOP me.

      • steveccnv says:

This isn’t Reagan’s America, things have radically changed. Someone on the right has to fight back against the left.

Should they do nothing when they’ve been illegally spied on, had a special counsel created with Carte Blanche to go after them, had IRS used as a political tool and social media companies doing the same, had a media created to set the narrative against them?

You can’t expect everyone on the right to be as lame as Mittens Romney.

      • stangerx says:

I’m sorry that is the way you see it. I don’t. You do get that Trump is Pres and the GOP controls the Senate right? Anyhow your vote is your vote and my in my whole life is mine as well. Which guess makes me a switch voter.

      • steveccnv says:

A handful of former Dolphins made the NFL Top-100 list including Laremy Tunsil, Landry, Minkah Fitzpatrick and Ryan Tannehill.

Just goes to show you it’s how you use players and what team they’re on that matter most.

    • steveccnv says:

Why isn’t Byron Jones on the top 100 list? Traitor former teammates? Parker of course too, but that’s been mentioned.

No one else comes to mind. We may need to no name it this year.

      • steveccnv says:

Once Tua establishes himself, we should have more from the O. Howard left off, because of injured plagued year and being a Dolphin.

    • D says:

In the case of Tunsil, i do think he is a really talented young player and he plays a premium position, but were he still with us, playing at the same level and protecting the blind side of a guy who wasn’t even on the list, instead of the blind side of number, what like 10 or something, he wouldn’t be on the list, or if he was, way down it.

Minkah as much as he is hated for what he did, is talented, probably deserves to be on the list, and probably would have made it, though i think he gets a few points for being on a relevant team. We weren’t relevant, and unfortunately haven’t been for a while.

Lastly, Tanny, QB rating got him on this list, not what normally counts, which is receptions, yards, carrying the team to victories. He still didn’t do any of that, he just was on a team that won, that made it to the playoffs and deep into it as a Cinderella team.

Now, dont get me wrong, they did benefit from better coaching they had previously (well at least Tanny), they did benefit from better supporting casts (especially Tanny), but i think otherwise, none of the players really did better than they would have with us last year. What they did benefit most about is not being drug down by the dumping ground we have been in sports media, especially when they have a hand in the voting.

  72. pheloniusphish says:

D – Regarding hospital beds…That’s the thing about statistics. Your analysis is correct, but you could also say that there is 1 hospital bed per 3 people and the virus would have to hospitalize more than 30% of the population to impact availability. Of course none of this takes into account local factors.

Speaking of him, i heard that the Bucs had intentions on trading him at some point, but dont know if that was rumor or they are just asking for too much. If we could land him for a mid round pick, we could roll with He, Geisicki and Smythe and maybe a 4th guy like Shaheen. That would be a incredibly talented TE group.

  77. steveccnv says:

Per Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, 2020 seventh-round draft pick Malcolm Perry is one of a few Dolphins players who’ve tested positive for COVID-19
Ferguson was placed on the Miami Dolphins reserve/COVID-19 list. Perry was not, meaning the latter seems to be full-go for training camp and completely recovered. Though it’s unclear which other Dolphins players may have tested positive over the summer and are fully recovered, we do know that cornerback Cordrea Tankersley and defensive tackle Benito Jones were also placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list as camp commenced.

  84. steveccnv says:

Fauci won’t commit to the obvious, when asked, if protesting helps spread the virus. What does that say about him?

    • Mike E. says:

It says he’s afraid to say that protests can spread the virus because he doesn’t want the backlash. It’s crazy shit!

    • Krishna says:

What I heard was JJ badgering a national publc health professional to take a political stance. Fauci refused to do that.

I don’t even get the point. Glad code speak works for you. LOL.

    • stangerx says:

He says crowds spread Covid…. protests are crowds. Not sure what the big deal is. You do get Fauci works for Trump? Is Trump wrong?

  85. Krishna says:

Beaches open, no masks. Protesters protesting with masks. Hmmmmm.

    This is fucked up.

    • Krishna says:

      Sssppppiiiiinnnnn!

      • Mike E. says:

Krishna – They only let a certain amount of people on the beaches here in NJ. They don’t allow overcrowding. Now protests, you have to admit that’s an entirely different situation. Those folks are right on top of each other.

    • stangerx says:

Both are bad moves. We have to get this thing under control.

  86. Krishna says:

I was in Destin at the end of June, a beach.

No one wore a mask and we talk to our neighbors and did.

    Spare me.

    • Krishna says:

Let’s put all our (your) kids in school and see what happens. I know I’m curious.

Hope all the kids will be fine.

However, in 50 plus years I never knew of a school where only ONE kid was sick. You?

  87. stangerx says:

“Crowding together, particularly when you’re not wearing a mask, contributes to the spread of the virus,” — Dr. Anthony Fauci before Congress today. Is this a problem?

    • Krishna says:

I don’t believe so. So why is steveccnv trying to berate Fauci? I don’t get it.

      • stangerx says:

Trump trade advisor Peter Navarro (the China Trade War guy) put out a scathing op-ed about Fauci a number of days ago (without getting Trump spanked) and parts of the alt right have been trying to crush Fauci like he is the devil. Can only guess that steve is in that faction of Team Trump.

      • Krishna says:

Another conspiracy. The guy’s been around for 40 years! He’s good….I mean sneaky.

Wasn’t he out there when AIDs (shhh) hit?

  88. Mike E. says:

Krishna – I can explain it you if you like. Fauci has pontificated plenty about who should be doing what. He didn’t think it was safe for any of the major sports to start their seasons and he said so. So if he feels so strongly about that, why can’t he just come out and say that protests aren’t safe?
I’m sure there are many other things he’s been happy to offer opinions on too.

    • stangerx says:

He did say protests weren’t safe. I just don’t get it.

      • Mike E. says:

No, actually he didn’t. He repeated the same answer that it’s not it’s not safe to be in a crowd of people but he wouldn’t use the word “protest”. He also never went on TV warning people that protesting in large groups is dangerous and that he doesn’t recommend it. Find me anything where said that. I don’t believe it exists.

      • stangerx says:

Maybe I’m just smarter than everyone else…. but when asked about protests he said crowds create a risk and a protest is a crowd. Jordan then tried to force him into saying protests should be outlawed. Fauci was “not my department.” Cause that is a political move…. which is not his department. Exactly how I would want him to respond…. even if was about a Trump rally.

    • steveccnv says:

The point is Fauci is a hypocrite. He can say anything to oppose Trump, but his asshole shrivels up, when it comes time to oppose any left and BLM. In other words he’s a coward.

    • Krishna says:

He did….in both cases. I don’t get what we are trying to parse in any of this. It seems consistent from my world….not right or left.

Same message, same warning, same precautions. WTF?

      • Krishna says:

Mike E, if you’re looking for The word to tie all together, I gave up on that a long time ago.

        It’s the message.

  89. CavalierKong says:

    LOL @ Assholiness

    Mike,
Now that AB has a set suspension, my opinion is he’ll be on a team by the time that suspension ends, assuming we get that far into the season. It’s wrong, but it is what it is and what it always has been. Talent will win out.

No way it’s the Pets though, Stang. Probably Seattle.

    • Mike E. says:

He wouldn’t quite bring Kaepernick madness to a team but would a team that’s competing for a playoff spot really take that jackass into the mix? I think he’s done. I know Pete Carroll could probably handle it but I don’t think he’s worth the effort.

      • CavalierKong says:

Time will tell, but I think this is money in the bank for me (if we had money on it, lol). I think a few teams will be lining up to sign him, assuming circumstances don’t change.

  90. Mike E. says:

Never mind – Fauci actually did say it’s not safe to protest. My mistake.

    https://abcnews.go.com/US/dr-fauci-voices-concerns-coronavirus-spreading-amid-nationwide/story?id=71171103

  91. bailbondmike says:

“Now protests, you have to admit that’s an entirely different situation. Those folks are right on top of each other.”
    ———————————-
Many of those protesters are just covering their noses and mouths with bandana’s. I guess that is more affective than not wearing a mask but not as affective as a mask that was designed for it’s obvious purpose. Most bandana’s are made of thin cotton. Not to mention they are constantly yelling. Plus, coughing and snotting up a bunch of shit because of pepper spay or tear gas.

    • D says:

I can say from the videos i saw of the major protests it was at best 50/50 on wearing a mask or not, probably closer to 60/40 not. The protests affected the spread, no questions, so did the rally trump had in Oklahoma, so did anything that avoided the dont be in crowds or dont social distance, etc. Im sure you can find bunches of cases where gatherings didnt cause an outbreak but im gonna bet more than not, it did and that goes for gathers side A or side B want to say were ok.

      • stangerx says:

Yep — Of course the protests helped spread, as did many other gatherings. But so many that did…. have a feeling JIm Jordan was fixated on the protests for a reason though. Even the GOP governors who had surges talked about bars re-opening. And think about how many more people that means. Bars in every town and city.

Yup, and he made billions off of aids. Now his is going to make even more off of this hoax / conspiracy to undermine the greatest president of all time. YUP

  93. Rockphin says:

My opinion is that the Jets should sign AB. It makes perfect sense. Gase would be a perfect match with him……

    Muuuuhhhaaaahaaaahaaaaa!

  94. Rockphin says:

Jordan grilled Fauci trying to get a political sound bite. Fauci has never stated that it is ok to protest and not to go to church. His answer is constant that ALL large gatherings are bad when it comes to the transmission of the virus. Indoor gatherings worse than outdoor.

You can go back months ago and find footage of him saying that masks MAY NOT benefit, but he ALWAYS followed that up with “we are just learning about this virus, it is a NOVEL virus.

He hasn’t flip flopped as much as he has altered is guidance as the science has been followed.

  95. Rockphin says:

I fail to see what the political victory would have been for Jordan to get a “confession” out of Fauci that protests are bad anyway. Was this a special hearing on the protests or on the inequity of race relations? NO! It was about the fucking pandemic. Move on asshole.

  96. Mike E. says:

D – Caught your cigar post the other day. I thought I had mentioned it here, I kinda stopped smoking cigars. The last couple of times I smoked (always accompanied by some bourbon) I felt like my blood pressure was going the through the roof. Part of that is probably because I was dehydrating and I can remedy that by drinking more water. I do want to smoke again, I have so many damn cigars! I have like the MyFather line for a while.I still have one or two of those left. I know I have at least one La Gran Oferta and I have smoked a bunch of the Don Pepin Garcia originals and Flor De Las Antillas Maduro. What was the name of the cigar you really liked?

    • Rockphin says:

Part of that could be that Nicotine is a stimulant and raises your blood pressure. But who knows? (winky eye) I have been nicotine free for 2.5 years now (after smoking and dipping for 35 years) It was the hardest of all my addictions to kick.

      • Mike E. says:

Glad you winky eyed. I do know know that nicotine raises your blood pressure but I never used to feel it. The last 2 times I smoked I really felt it, made me nervous. Have to be more hydrated because I have to have my bourbon to complete the experience

  97. Rockphin says:

Fauci has been a highly respected expert for most of my life and I am getting pretty old. He has held his post since Ronald Reagan, through Bush 1, Clinton, Bush 2, Obama and Trump. Who else can say that they have held the same very high level position for 36 years through conservative and liberal administrations?

Now all of the sudden he is a fraud?

Book burning? Now there’s a progressive stance!

  109. wyoming85 says:

  110. Krishna says:

Book burning is old school AND unnecessary.

POSTPONING the election to suit conspiracy theory BS, spouting lies about mail-in voting, and passing voter suppression laws is more the issue.

  111. Mike E. says:

Krishna – Answer me this: Why have the democrats been pushing so hard for mail in voting?

  112. Krishna says:

Mike E, why does it matter how we vote as long as we get to vote?

It’s also my understanding than mail-in voting has favored Republicans for years. Again, why should it matter.

Electronic voting, is susceptible to cyber interference. Please don’t tell me you disagree with this. Every nation on the planet has/will/did.

    • Krishna says:

And more directly, so every vote will count.

If anything, the Democrats have done a poor job of educating their followers on filling out the vote with no mistakes while the Republicans are much more savvy on doing it right.

      • Krishna says:

This leads to democratic votes being thrown out. Sounds like a FL issue on a national level.

    • Mike E. says:

I can give you my opinion for whatever that’s worth. I believe they’re doing it because they believe they will get more young people to vote who normally wouldn’t bother going out to vote and we know what young people either still in school or just out of school are going to vote for, democrats. Democrats because they’re brainwashed in school to think that way. I mean it’s as clear as day that one party wants it and the other doesn’t. Can we at least agree on that much?

      • Krishna says:

Ok…and I would submit the 65+ would like to have a say, but standing in line for 8, 4, 2, 1 hour is troublesome for them.

      • Mike E. says:

Krishna – That’s true about the 65+ but they aren’t going to want to fill out paper work and they certainly aren’t going to get on a computer or try to vote from their cell phone if they even have one. The truth is I’m not overly concerned if Trump loses, it might actually be better for our country just to end this vitriol. At least that would be my hope if Trump lost, that things would calm down.

      • Krishna says:

Oh, they are most likely to vote, the ones who are expendable according to dan Patrick in TX.

  113. Krishna says:

Mike E, I completely agree. I am holding out hope that once he’s gone, we can re-unite.

The morning I woke up after election night my only thought, you get what you pay for.

He is an evil man, imo, always has been, lied, cheated, and paid off all his transgressions with hush money. These are all facts.

I keep trying to understand what he has done for our country. I really don’t get any of the merits he has “brought” to the table as a president.

  114. Mike E. says:

Krishna – I don’t know about that. Or maybe let me clarify. I think there’s probably an age span of maybe 5-10 years, meaning 65-70 would probably be active in this but the 70 and above crowd less so. Of course there are exceptions, but the over 70 crowd is either going to vote at the polls or not at all IMO.

  115. Krishna says:

If your comment is dedicated to voting, again, why suppress certain forms and not others? Why make it harder?

You are aware that 50-70MM votes were mailed in the election Trump won. Please check that.

  116. bookman11 says:

There is no way in hell if Biden is elected that this country is united, unless united is defined as the radical left allowed to do whatever they want. Smh.

    • Krishna says:

I don’t see Biden as nearly as radical as Trump. Lifelong Republicans are fleeing the party. He is destroying the party that at one time I had respect for.

      • bookman11 says:

I see Biden as a puppet to be guided along by AOC and all of those other idiots, that’s what scares me.

  117. Krishna says:

    I don’t see that happening.

I can envision what another 4 years of Trump will do to this country. Let’s postpone the election to make it safer while sending kids back to school? I’m clueless about this logic. Who can rationalize this?

Again, what have been the merits of his presidency? If you say the economy we will have another debate about business cycles and riding coat tails.

    Please…Help me understand.

  118. Mike E. says:

Bookman – I don’t think the country will be united, no shot. At the very least, the whiners will finally STFU! That’s worth something to me.

  119. bailbondmike says:

Biden sucked a bunch Chinese dick during the Obama presidency. Even tossed their salad. Trump put an end to it and I don’t want to see things return to the US getting butt fucked by the Chinese any more.

    • stangerx says:

Were you in favor of a trade war with China? Went against everything they taught me in my economics class. The The Trans-Pacific Partnership did make sense to me. Was bonding a bunch of countries together in a trade zone against China.

  120. bailbondmike says:

Yeah, lets vote for Biden (actually his puppeteers) and increase our taxes by 7 trillion like they are proposing. Hell, at least Warren only wanted to increase taxes by 2 trillion.

  121. ocalarob says:

    I’m reclaiming my time!

  122. stangerx says:

Bookman — if Biden is a puppet of the left why didn’t the left just make Bernie win the primary instead? Dems are shifting left to appease the progressive faction though…. no doubt on that one. Same time the centrists moved together to keep control. Got Mayor Pete, Amy etc to bow out before South Carolina. They took one for the team.

    • wyoming85 says:

      Bernies not a puppet.
Bidden will pull in the middle ground Dems, like you that don’t think he’s a puppet. 😉

      • stangerx says:

Gotta think Biden more likely to win the election a major selling point in getting the others to call it a day. And just fact after all…. including with me. Q is do the progressives still turn out.

    • bailbondmike says:

My guess is they want someone other than Sanders and Biden as president. Best option was Biden so he can be deemed incompetent and their VP becomes president. Oops, sorry. That was another conspiracy theory. lol

      • stangerx says:

Seems the logical puppet master to look to on Biden would be the DNC and the big money donors instead of the left. The left lost when Bernie did. But maybe that doesn’t play as well on Hannity. 🙂

      • bailbondmike says:

Haven’t watched Hannity in a long time. Too repetitive.

  123. wyoming85 says:

First the election will not be delayed!
He just said it to dig in the left’s side!

The left is the ones saying that we can’t vote in person!
Even if you can go to the grocery store?

This must be the smartest fucking virus on the market for the things it attacks and the things it doesn’t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does everyone understand the difference between absentee voting and the mail in vote proposed?

And I can stand up and tell you that in my industry, if Biden gets voted in I’ll be looking at a new profession! He will kill the oil & Gas / construction!!!!
Maybe I’ll try me some of them food stamps? Never done it before but it seems to be a good way to live??????

  124. Krishna says:

Trump the Destroyer. Perfect the next commissioned destroyer.

Again, what are the merits of this presidency. I’ve asked at least 3 times.

All I’ve seen him do is tear down relationships since WWII without building a new except with dictators, tear up treaties and agreements without replacing them,, replace boarder fences, assault women, and everyone of color, attack US citizens for photo ops with a bible (please?), and fuck up an economy he was handed that he juiced with tax cuts for the 1%,’ers. That’s just for starters.

And probably the biggest one, promoted and all flames of divisiveness beginning with his inaugural speech.

    Just my take.

What are his merits? And, what is his vision for the next 4 years? More of the same, yikes.

    • wyoming85 says:

      I’ll give it a shot

tear up treaties – Iran? they were making nukes anyway! Even after all the money Obama paid them not to! You can’t bargain with people that hate you! They’ve never kept their word since I’ve been alive!

without replacing them – 2 new trade deals that will have evened the playing field (If China doesn’t back out)

replace boarder fence – That’s build a border fence ( For the life of me I don’t understand how the word Illegal is so hard to understand)

assault women – I haven’t heard of a case being turned in to the police? Although I do believe Biden does have an active suit against him!!!

assault everyone of color – ??????????? Opportunity Zones, School of choice, Prison reform.

attack US citizens for photo ops with a bible – See DOJ Barr’s testimony from Tuesday

fuck up an economy he was handed that he juiced with tax cuts for the 1% – I’ll just speak for myself, But Obama nearly killed my Industry with stupid regulations! Trump cleared some up and we became Oil and gas independent for the first time in my lifetime!

      • Krishna says:

        Thanks….

Iran deal needed to be enforced. Was it?

China deal is a trade war. We should put a stop to the stealing of intellectual property and unfair trade practices. Has that happened?

Please, a self admitted pushy grabber. You are correct, no assaults while at the WH, as far as we know. He’s paid millions in hush money or what are they called, non-disclosure agreements.

Enforce existing laws. I wonder how many illegal aliens work in your industry and for sure many others. A wall won’t prevent that.

Travel bans, false equivalence of neo-Nazi protesters as “good people” on both sides, the list is endless.

I don’t believe anything Barr has to say and the thousands of attorneys past and present completely disagree with you.

Self-interest group in oil and gas. I have never heard any of these companies scratching for profit. Are you serious man? Next to pharmaceuticals, no one else comes close.
