Many of you here didn’t really value the services of one Allen Hurns, and maybe I’m on the side of overrating him, but Hurns was on target to be the starter opposite DeVante Parker at least into training camp. If Preston Williams proved he was healthy and battle ready then it’s possible Hurns slipped down the depth chart as he was replaced by the younger, more explosive Williams. IN any case, Hurns was a veteran receiver with AFC experience and one that thrived playing opposite a very talented receiver in Allen Robinson in Jacksonville. Never as much of a big play threat as Robinson, Hurns was a steady, reliable , professional possession receiver. Albert Wilson looked like he was almost all the way back last season, especially towards the end of the season. The last 3 games he caught 17 passes which is nearly half of his season’s production of 41 receptions. He had the lowest YPC average of his career at 8.1 and only one TD but the hip injury that cut his 2019 season short really took its toll on the receiver as he finally worked his way back. I do recall seeing a couple of plays at the end of the year where his explosiveness resembled the player of 2019 where he was turning nothing into something big routinely.
Before the opt outs, I felt like we had a very strong WR room with serious depth and a nice mix of youth and veterans. Parker is 27, Wilson 28 and Allen Hurns 28, along with young up and comers like Preston Williams (23), Gary Jennings (23), Isaiah Ford (24), Malcolm Perry (23) and Jakeem Grant who is now 27. If Preston Williams is ready he takes Hurns spot on the outside opposite Parker. Which receiver or receivers get to thrive in the slot? Jakeem Grant will be in the running as will Gary Jennings and 7th RD draftee Malcolm Perry. Grant has the speed and explosiveness Wilson had but not the size, Grant (5’6 171) is about 25 lbs lighter and doesn’t have the run power to break tackles like Wilson did. Gary Jennings is a little less speedy and explosive but has good size at 6’1 216. Jennings ran a 4.42 at the combine and put up 20 reps so he has some upper body strength. Malcolm Perry is closest size wise and elusiveness to Wilson but doesn’t have the top speed that Wilson had. Perry ran 4.63 40 at the combine. If you watch Perry play though, he always looks fast enough and is a very slippery runner. The Dolphins signed Colts WR Chester Rogers to a 1YR deal which deepens the depth a little. Rogers caught 53 passes in 2018, just 16 last year playing behind WR Zach Pascal.
The biggest concern I have about our WR’s, or really any unit on our team is the depth. If we’ve learned anything by watching MLB, NBA or NHL in 2020 in the year of COVID-19 is that players drop like flies. One second they’re on the team and the next they’re on COVID-19 protocol. Add in the usual NFL injuries, especially considering this year with a huge lack of practices and no preseason games and you will likely see how important good depth will be. I’d even question whether the league will be able to play a full season. We’re going to have to count on a bunch of our deeper depth players this season and I hope we get them all ready for action. When Chan Gailey was with the Jets in 2015-2016, he utilized Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker mostly, with a decent amount of passing to the RB’s Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell. In 2016 Decker was gone after 3 games and replaced by Quincy Enunwa and the offense didn’t really feature a slot WR much. Robby Anderson provided the deep threat on the outside and again, the RB’s, now Matt Forte and Bilal Powell caught a bunch of passes. Jordan Howard isn’t much of a pass catcher but Matt Breida is a good receiver out of the backfield who was stifled by playing time in a 3 headed attack in SF with Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman and also CJ Beathard. Malcolm Perry may also get some use out of the backfield and Kalen Ballage was thought to be a good receiver although he didn’t get to show any of those skills here in MIA. Patrick Laird and Kenyan Drake caught the most passes at RB. In any case, one thing we’ll probably have to get used to in 2020 is NEXT MAN UP . . .

But I don’t think you should be naive about the support that organization receives from many different people with many different points of view

Im with Mike, i agree with the BLM movement and the issues surrounding where it started, but the group, even if they may have not started that way are solidly an anarchist hate group at this point and i cannot support them. They actually started as their own group but the New Black Panther movement which was starting up around the same time, merged with them, under the guise of the BLM group, and since then its a whole different group.
What i understand is these players still cannot be drafted or join an NFL team until NFL 2021 draft. So no this isnt a shortcut for them to get to the NFL its just a shortcut as far as getting a jump on preparations for the NFL, where they dont have to risk injury and they get to train with people who can help them test and perform well for prospective teams.

The only acenue for a guy to do that is to go through the supplemental draft, but they still would have to have completed at least three years of eleigibility anyways. Had BLM protests around where I live. The announced ones were pretty peaceful. They started at the park and had a bunch of speakers. What they said was pure first amendment. Then they marched a bit with a few stops and came back to the park. Then the “fun” began. But wasn’t the folks who organized the protests running it then. And they probably hated it. Probably knew it would happen. Same time guess figured the after was not on either them or BLM.

We’ve had dozens if not hundreds of events in Sacramento over the last year or two, and by far the majority of them are peaceful.
This is the other side of the coin to the ‘main stream media’ attacks that conservatives and trump supporters usually don’t acknowledge. The right wing media plays this stuff up to rile up their base and make it seem like the whole country is on fire when that just isn’t the truth.
Yes, there are some violent protests, and yes, there are factions which support and approve of these actions, but the vast majority of protests throughout the country are non-violent and non looting.
That being said, there is truth in the fact that BLM doesn’t strongly condemn the protests that are violent, which I firmly believe they should.
I think the point at which they fully lost me was after the George Floyd riots and everyone was talking how to move forward, there were police kneeling with the protesters, there were some that marched with the protesters, there we obvious signs of reaching out and BLM as a group made a statement. We dont want to hug the police, we dont want to kneel with the police, we dont want to talk with the police, we want to defund the police. Thats as blatant stating your opinion on something as you can get and this came from their leadership. So i dont think that all people who follow the BLM movement are bad, i think a lot of people who organize things in their name have good intentions, i think they are peaceful and i think they have good intention, but they are quietly being led by an organization that does not at the heart of them, want good thing, equality, or progress, they want destruction, anarchy and to spread hatred.

I work for the government in my city and we have BLM protests outside our building pretty regularly. On my lunch break sometimes I go out and talk with different people that show up about a range of the issues they are protesting.
I’ve never seen any violence or disrespectful behavior from these particular groups. They’ve neve3r had to be removed. I often disagree with some of the things they say or want and when we’re done, the discussions always end on a positive note.
As I said above, we’ve had a couple years of protests. Since the Stephon Clark incident, our city has been embroiled in protests, and again, the vast majority are peaceful.
So I don’t take my view from the news on either side (not saying you do). My experience with the group and what they stand for, not to mention what we’ve seen in my city, has not been what you see in the news. But if you look up Sacramento and protests I bet you’ll find news to make you think we’re Chicago west.
Now I also recognize that Sacramento isn’t exactly the center of anything.
We were named a ‘cowtown’ by Phil Jackson in the 90’s (and boy did he regret it. If you don’t know that story look it up, it’s hilarious. He actually had to petition the league to get Sacto fans to stop with the cowbells).
So maybe we just have a more civilized group of BLMers, lol. The centers of things are the places that will draw the extremist elements.
Cav — protests can be funny. My old place used to get protested. We held a free admission conference and a number of guys picketed outside the entrance. Talking signs, army jackets and chants.

The right to protest really shows the strength of this country. When I found out about the Westboro Baptist Church, I thought there is a perfect example of how great and sh*tty our country can be in one shot. If a group like that can do what they do, this country really is free.

I think Wyo said it well. We all pretty much know where each of us stand on most of the controversial issues, and no one is changing their minds.
For the most part, I’ve stopped trying to argue actual issues and positions, mostly because i find it boring and tiresome. Ramming your head into a wall can be moderately entertaining, but even that becomes monotonous with repetition, lol.
All jokes aside, what I have discovered in the last 4 years is that I know intelligent people that I very much respect on both sides and in the middle of pretty much everything.
What I take from that, is that as much as I may think something is obvious, when someone I really respect has an opposing view, it must mean that perspective means a lot, nay everything. With that in mind, it is so much easier for me to have these conversations and not get riled up because we all see things through our own paradigm of experience and bias.
I think y’all are still confusing the protesters with the leadership of the organization. The protesters are there to support the issue the organization itself isn’t those people it’s people who are making the comments I’m saying shows that those that lead it have other intentions. Everything I have said gets replied to as if I’m talking about the protesters and I’m not.
I don’t think you can talk about one without the other. Both the leaders and the people on the ground make up the organization. And there are many layers of leadership and many different ways this organization tries to spread their message. All the peaceful events I referenced earlier were organized by leaders of the organization at all different levels.
I get it that you think the leaders are corrupt and bad, therefore the organization is. I just don’t paint them with that broad a brush.
I think there are a lot of different people that can be categorized as ‘leadership’ in their organization, and like most organizations I definitely don’t agree with some of what they do and say. Canadians getting Healthcare in US :
Not 100% sure but , based on personal experiences, we do have very good medical coverage IF YOU CAN FIND a DR, and are willing to wait upwards of 2 years for surgeries that are not life threatening IE knee/shoulder repairs.. thus if we are in a hurry and have the $$ or if we can have it covered by our work benefit programs then yes , I can see the appeal and reasoning behind those #’s
After my Bells Palsey diagnosis I attempted to find a DR for after care and to get a physical on wife’s demand.. managed to see a Walk-in clinic dr who agreed to do physical, and write a RX for cholesterol meds, but refused to offer advise or even follow up on the BP. I was also told I could not identify him as MY DR… I was to do blood test every 3 months, I adhered to that but ran a bit late on 3rd appt, then COVID hit, so I put off going again for next three months.. went to fill cholesterol RX two weeks ago and pharmacy informed me this dr will no longer renew RX…
When we hear a DR is taking new patients, we are told to APPLY to become their patient… I don’t need a DR often , but would have liked to have had an option to see someone to assist with the treatment of it.. as it is I still have (18 months later) some issues with watering/droopy eyes and if ya ask my wife 🤔 mumbling/slurring on occasion… wife wants me to find a new dr to look into that and to get my cholesterol checked and reap RX.. she’s also not convinced that it’s BP.. she can be a drama queen worry wart, and thinks a) was misdiagnosed, could have been a stroke , or b) that since then I have had TIAs as my mother had a history of them in her last years … I of course disagree, but am more soured on DRs than before
Sorry for the long blown story , but in a nutshell: there is some serious deficiencies in our medical system as well.

Asking to be treated with respect, and then spouting this crap is just wrong … pick yer battle message .. I want to be treated equal or I want to be above reproach to do and say as I want because I may have been persecuted and or had my PC Feelings hurt….

Can’t rename the stadium like D said, but he’s right, they can call it Don Shula field at Hard Rock Stadium. They have an 18 year lease they signed in 2016 so they still have 14 more years. I like it, it’s a solid name and adds a cool vibe to the stadium.

The Lodi skydiving deaths are true though. They’ve had somewhere between 15-20 in the last 20 years, including the one who’s chute didn’t open and landed on a big rig on the highway. That happened a year or two ago.

Yeah, the town isn’t very big and is basically built around HW99 and sandwiched on the other side by I-5. Our two big North/South Highways in the valley.

$15 mil per year is huge, but still not top 10 WR money. Even if close….. won’t be in 2 or 3 years though.
Its huge for a TE, but we’ve seen this story before, it means nothing until we see the numbers broken down.
Not too much the contract structure could take from him if over half guaranteed. Maybe a blown up cut year at the end but that’s about it.
Still not getting why these teams continue to offer these massive contracts, when the cap will likely go down for the foreseeable future.
Good point, but the teams know more than we do about the future of the cap. Might be that the contracts would have been even more.
I don’t see how they could. The future cap will be based off of revenue from this year. They can’t see the future.
Every year when it budgets, AT&T projects it’s next sales earni9ngs and profits. Doesn’t mean the company gets it right but at assume in a better position to do that than me. In this case….. I don’t even know when the next TV contract is up. Assume the NFL GMs know a lot more about it than that.
And I don’t necessarily think someone knows more than someone else about a subject, because of their job title. For example how many times have we seen a guy that’s the designated clock management guy fuck it up?
Like I said steve, it was a good point to bring up. Would like to know what their thinking is. But also thinking they have more info than me. Though obviously if the salary cap crashes some team moves will end up right and some wrong in light of that.

Not sure which one of Bowe’s Holyfield fights it was, but he trained at Caesar’s Tahoe, where I was working in 93 or 94, they said he was going to continue to train there, if he won, but he lost.
So I’m working in room service, and Bowe had one of the suites. Every night during training he ordered several bowls of orange sherbert for his crew, and every night they were playing cards in their boxers.
I’m pretty sure t was the only fight Bowe lost as a professional, Holyfield/Bowe II
Not that Kittle isnt a good TE, but thats way too much for TE. I mean if you are trying to budget for a whole team, you have to have money spots reserved for guys that just arent easy to replace, for me thats a stud DL guy, DE, probably CB, maybe S, and your OL. Im not spending big money on WR (maybe one if they are execptional), TE, RB, or LB, im saving that money for the other spots. LB, maybe one of them, as the leader of the D, but im not going crazy with the money there either. In essence they have just set themselves up to have to get skimpy elsewhere and i dont think that Kittle brings enough to the table as a TE to justify hurting yourself in other spots.
He’s probably the most impactful player on that team. He’s great inline blocking and no one does more with the ball in his hands than him on that offense, it’s not even close. Who cares what position he plays? No one makes that offense go like he does.

I agree, and he lines up out wide a lot. Get rid of him and their O would pay dearly.
I’d spend big money on Kittle, Kelce too. Those guys change games.
