What will the 2021 Miami Dolphins Defense look like?

Two of our top 4 picks in the 2021 draft were spent on defense. The #18 pick to me was the pivotal pick because I think adding Jaelan Phillips to this defense will energize a pass rush that improved last year with the addition of Emmanuel Ogbah who led the team, and also the emergence of “AVG” Andrew Van Ginkel who really came on last season. Keep in mind Emmanuel Ogbah had 8 sacks through 9 games last season and finished with 9, so 1 sack in the last 7 games. There’s a reason, opposing teams focused on Ogbah because Shaq Lawson wasn’t getting it done. So now we have the young pass rusher we need and in exchange for Shaq Lawson, we received ILB Benardrick McKinney. Don’t underestimate this move. As much as I believe drafting Phillips was so important to our defense, I think trading for Benardrick McKinney was a big step too, though not as much as getting Phillips. Consider that Elandon Roberts is rehabbing from a knee injury very late in the season (Game 16), we needed this. In addition, McKinney will be the perfect inside backer that will continue to allow #55 to be all over the field and we’ll now have a guy who can be productive against the run and can also chase down plays to the sidelines. In round 2 pick #36, the Dolphins took who they believe to be the starting FS opposite SS Eric Rowe, Jevon Holland. Holland will be given every opportunity to win that job as good ole Bobby McCain was let go.

I think our defense already had a very promising trajectory, even before the Lawson/McKinney trade and before the draft. I like our young, strong defensive line with DE’s Christian Wilkins and Emmanuel Ogbah and NT Raekwon Davis. Ogbah is the elder statesman at nearly 28 while Wilkins is nearly 26 and Davis is only 24. AVG will be 26 at season’s start and Jaelan Phillips is 22. These guys are just going to get better, and make no mistake, Jaelan Phillips is going to make this defense better. He will be a guy that must be accounted for and when there are multiple guys on your defense that fit in that category, that’s when defenses feast. I think Phillips is going to have that impact on our defense. If AVG can improve on the good work he did last year, our defense can be a real force. He played in only 46% of the defensive snaps and managed 5.5 sacks and 10 QB hits in addition to nearly 50 tackles. If he can earn more playing time and increase his production accordingly, watch out!

The secondary was already the premier unit of the defense and hopefully Jevon Holland can elevate it even further. Last season Bobby McCain played SS and played the majority of snaps there. This year Rowe will be playing SS and it’s expected that rookie Jevon Holland will play FS. Holland may also play some slot corner and nickel corner, a job Nik Needham handled most of the time last season. With two excellent cover corners in Xavien Howard and Byron Jones, this may be the best CB tandem in the NFL. Howard is the ballhawk and playmaker while Jones is your typical shutdown corner. Howard started and played in all 16 games finishing with an incredible 10 INT’s. Jones started and played 14 games last season and totaled just 2 INT’s, but as I said earlier, he does a great job of shutting down the receiver he is responsible for.

I honestly can’t wait to see this defense on the field. If Phillips lives up to the hype I’m bestowing on him this defense can be something to see. We so desperately need that player that opposing teams must pay extra special attention to and I can’t remember the last time we’ve had that. For some perspective, last season was the first season in which we accumulated more sacks on defense than we allowed in quite some time. We had 41 sacks and allowed only 34. In 2019 we allowed 58 and got only 23 of our own on defense. Still think the O-line didn’t improve??? I had to go all the way back to 2009 to find a comparison even close to last season. In 2009 we had 44 sacks and allowed 34. Our +7 from last season was impressive, imagine if we make that even better this season . . .

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

ā€œThe Department of Justice is adding more people onto its roles in order to fight against efforts to limit voting and, I assume, other illegal voting acts,.

Based on that it would seem the DOJ has no choice but to look at the massive voter fraud which took place in certain Swing States, and I assume elsewhere, during the 2020 Presidential Election Scam, whether it be voting machines, underaged people, dead people, illegal aliens, ballot drops, ballot cheating, absentee ballots, post office delivery (or lack thereof!), lock boxes, people being paid to vote, or other things, the 2020 Presidential Election is, in my mind, the Crime of the Century.ā€

    — Donald J Trump, who apparently thinks the 2020 election was rigged in so many ways that a Swiss Army knife would be jealous.

  2. manitobafinfan says:

So lots of historical stuff,, thatā€™s what we enjoy.. nawlins we liked the history much more than Bourbon Street

  3. i went to new orleans a few years ago, and couldnt find a hotel room that didnt reek horribly from katrina mold, ended up driving to biloxi and stayed at the hard rock

they just painted over the mold and hoped it would go away, lol SMH

  4. Tim Knight says:

David, I asked what group of people from the page turn?

    • the descendents of the victims that were murdered, and forced to leave thier homes and lost their homes, businesses, orange groves, and livestock

this isnt without precedent, the Rosewood Florida Massacre victims received compensation, or what is commonly called reparations from the same thing

genocidal murder, government complicity, and stolen property

unfortunately these atrocities happened all over the state of Florida, and the nation
the KKK were one of the nations worst terrorists ever IMO< and unfortunately they infiltrated positions of governmental power to commit these massacres and get away with it with a tidy profit

ill gotten gains on blood property is what it is

      • Tim Knight says:

Okay gotcha. So you’re referring to the Rosewood Florida Massacre in the 20’s?

      • yes, Rosewood was in 1923

        Ocoee was election day 1920

      • Tim Knight says:

It would be difficult to uproot people from basically 100 years ago. But in cases like this, it would have to more about how the government gave reparations to Native Americans. Land to build a community. I’m not against righting a wrong and it being paid by government subsidizing. But it can’t be funded forever, just get it started.

  5. Tim Knight says:

All I’ll say is voting should not be difficult in this country. I mean come on, it’s 2021. Does Florida still use fucking chads? LOL

    • stangerx says:

Think it depends on whether Trump is running or not. Said the 2016 primary was rigged (he won), that 3-5 million illegal votes were cast against him in the 2016 general election (he’d won), and that he won the 2020 election by a landslide (still insisting).

      • Tim Knight says:

No… citizens should be able to vote without difficulty. It has nothing to do with who the candidates are. Nothing to do with Trump.

      • stangerx says:

The chads thing got me thinking contested elections. And of course all citizens should be able to easily vote. Does that mean you are against the wave of voting restriction laws in the red states?

    • bailbondmike says:

Voting was VERY EASY for me in FL. Got ID went to the community center and voted. The whole deal from time I left the house to voting to getting home took me 20 minutes.

      • Tim Knight says:

It’s always been easy for me but I constantly hear that it’s difficult for lots of people specifically minorities. If that’s the case, correct it.

  6. this is a video of Sheriff Grady Judd, who is known for being a pro gun conservative in polk county, one of the most conservative counties in central Florida

He is calling for common sense gun control, many of HIS deputies have been killed in the line of duty

in Polk county, the last 3 months had 16 drive by shootings or shootouts in the streets, most of the time the shooters are between the ages of 16-19

there are gangs in haines city that are fighting it out with winter haven every week

this used to be small towns , with mostly retirees , snowbirds, and tourists, its close to Legoland and Disney

    now its wild wild west

    • Tim Knight says:

There is lots of gun control laws in this country. What’s not working?

      • watch the video, the conservative sherriff trump supporter spells out his case

there are too many deputies and citizens getting murdered

      • Tim Knight says:

I get that. Why? It’s not a gun issue it’s a human issue. What makes humans decide to shoot each other? What makes someone decide to bludgeon, stab, bomb, run people over etc. because they’re distressed?

  7. Tim Knight says:

Stanger, why would anyone be for voting restriction laws for citizens anywhere? What are the restrictions?

    • stangerx says:

You can find the news on it, but includes restricting voting hours and days, stricter requirements on absentee ballots, making it easier for state legislatures to challenge official elections results, etc. Key reason is Republicans think less people voting is good for them.

  8. whats tragic is, 100 years later racists are still trying to stop the minorities from voting, or make it much harder for them, knowing many will drop out, and they can get their white person, preferably male in office

    • Tim Knight says:

This is what I don’t get. Your statement makes it seem like minorities aren’t smart enough to vote. What is the issue?

In the big scheme of things and in the future, people should be able to vote from their phone. In the next decade or so there will be very few people who are computer and phone illiterate. Voting should not be a hassle. The same with motor vehicle etc. Standing on lines for simple things should be eliminated.

      • whats not to get? in the 1700s, only white male landowners were allowed to vote, and minorities have fought every since against racists trying to deny their votes

remember the 60’s? many southern states made them pay exorbitant poll taxes, and other things to restrict their votes

racists would prefer that no black ever votes, they want to deny their constitutiona l rights

their weak sauce arguments about current restrictions not harming minorities in 2021, rings hollow, because we see thats been the MO for over 230 years, they dont want them to vote, and this is just the current flavor of the century

government officials trying to hold them back for their pigmentation forever, is the unconstitutional farce called American democracy, and freedom for all

  9. bailbondmike says:

This is getting to overboard stupid. See y’all tomorrow.

  10. New Age says:

    David,

I can’t comment about the Florida history until I look at it. You seem to know it and I want justice for anyone murdered or robbed of their land. Like Tim said, it’s been a long time and just taking the land back would be an injustice the other way. Giving them some limited duration help would probably be the best option. We don’t want to make them dependent on others but to help them be viable citizens and taxpayers.

For Tulsa specifically, there is a narrative pushed today that is not factual. The 2003 study gives the most facts but there’s no evidence that late in the story and a lot of opinions. They can’t find a huge graveyard and the most likely answer is that the deaths were grossly exaggerated by certain sources.

  11. New Age says:

    Stanger,

Stronger background checks would be fine but the FBI just needs to do a better job looking through them. They usually just rubber stamp which is the main problem.

    Tim,

Voter ID is what we need. They use it in Europe with no problems. There’s no reason we can’t have voter ID outside of people wanting illegal activities.

    • stangerx says:

I’m for both the database being built up as envisioned and the FBI getting more strict. That wasn’t hard. šŸ™‚

      • New Age says:

A lot of the solutions we can use aren’t hard and are common sense. Why doesn’t our government use them then?

  12. in 2021, government and corporations have access to ALL of our metadata.

they can actually put together a profile on us, and track us everywhere we carry our cell phones

they can use this information to market us, track us, and control some of our activities and movement.

the more technology improves to help them, for example, they are already taking our fingerprints in various ways, face recognition, etc

we will ALL, have less rights, and governmental privacy, as they see fit

    • New Age says:

      Scary isn’t it?

    • Tim Knight says:

That’s the evolution of technology. It’s no secret. If you shop for something you will get advertised on those products and services. It’s already happening. We’re all living in a new era. It’s life and we’re not stopping it.

  13. Tim Knight says:

David, it’s 2021, not the 1700’s or 1960. I don’t know what you see on a daily basis down south, but up here in the north people of all ethnicities have the same opportunity. Is there some racism and bigotry? Of course!!! Lots of humans are assholes. But it’s not a dominant force.

    • agreed its not 1700 anymore, and glad YOU dont see it

unfortunately many have seen it, every election of their lives, and their descendents will see it too

the deep south is NOT the same as the northeast, not even close

most of them hate what they call yankee carpetbaggers, lol thats You

  14. New Age says:

    Stanger,

What are your thoughts on early release from prison then? Specifically for violent offenders?

    • stangerx says:

Parole has been around since the country started…… so not like it is new. Seems would depend on whether the original sentence was a logical one.

      • New Age says:

Recidivism is really high and we have more data than ever before. Logic would dictate that you don’t want repeat violence.

  15. Tim, here is one thing You have seen,
    \
trump, is telling non stop lies, trying to change state rules to make it harder for minorities to vote

they know they cant stop all minorities to vote, but because democrats control everything right now, republicans are trying to knock some of the numbers of minority votes down , and have ready made excuses as to why thats not really the case, to get back into control

the excuses change every election, but have always been there for every single election

    • Tim Knight says:

Trump is done. His loyal followers, whatever! It’s over. This country is about more than Trump. The accusations of election fraud didn’t start with Trump. Stop smoking the TDS. šŸ˜‰

    • steveccnv says:

I asked what was something biden told the truth about, because 99% of everything out of a dem politicians mouth is a lie, and all I got was a prediction about 100m vaccines in his first 100 days in office.

All politicians lie, get over yourself already, but what matters is what they tell you when they’re campaigning vs what they do after they get elected

  16. Tim Knight says:

New Age, I need 6 points of ID to renew my license. Why can some just say “I’m so and so” and vote? I have to use my SS# for lots of stuff, but if someone doesn’t have one all good. It’s bizarre.

    • New Age says:

You need ID to work and you need ID to get welfare. Is there anyone legal we are missing then? As David and you stated, the government has all kinds of data on all of us. Voter ID would be easy to implement if they really wanted fair voting.

      • Tim Knight says:

Bingo! It’s not that complicated. Not just the government, but industry. We’re becoming synchronized as a people. It’s just the early stages.

      • New Age, we are beating a dead horse, for 3 centuries , various tactics, intimidation, murder, and other excuses have been used to deny minorities from voting

its telling the ones that LOST elections, are trying to change the rules and make excuses as to why its ok?

losers are not interested in election security, they ONLY want to get back into power, by making it harder for minorities to vote

whats the harm if an elderly voter in FL< standing in 90 degree heat wants some water? its now illegal

this means that some people will have to drop out of line or die

the excuses on the surface seem a little bit reasonable, but they arent, they are biased, and drawn up by the ones that lost the election

trump said he wanted to get david perdue back into office, but that is not what the GA voters wanted at all

trump is guilty of the worst election cheating we have ever seen, and he should be permanently disqualified from running from dog catcher or anything else

  17. New Age says:

    Tim,

We completely agree on that but whatā€™s your thoughts on electronic voting? Iā€™m not a fan unless voters have access to the entire vote afterwards

    • Tim Knight says:

      Not sure what you mean?

      • New Age says:

Dominion, etc. Avenues that can easily be hacked.

      • Tim Knight says:

Person to person handling mail/documents seems to be the issue. If you eliminate that you’re on record electronically. You can go to jail for fraud.

    • steveccnv says:

We had a lot of cheating in both mail in ballots and electronic voting, but electronic voting, when it’s online is easier to cheat, because it can be done off location by just a few, as we recently saw

      • the state elections were secure, but guys like trump were calling state officials in Georgia and other states, and begging to fudge the numbers to get more votes illegally to steal the election

a candidate that is caught cheating should be permanently disqualified IMO, that would make elections more secure, without alienating any voters

  18. Tim Knight says:

Getting back to football. I really like a 2nd year Raekwon Davis along with Christian Wilkins in his 3rd season, and the depth on the DL. Now we add a rook in Phillips with Ogbah and Van Ginkel on the edges with maybe Biegel who played really well in 2019. Then Baker and McKinney as seek and destroy LBs. Our secondary is talented and deep. Our defense has the potential to be really good.

    • New Age says:

I think we had a really good defense that should be even better. I’m really liking McKinney and Phillips.

      • Tim Knight says:

The focus is on Tua, Fuller and Waddle, and is Gaskin a legit RB? Behind the scenes we’re building a very good defense. šŸ™‚

      • steveccnv says:

Our run D was actually better, than our pass D, based on ranking, but both should be improved and nasty overall

  19. Randy says:

I really like the Adam Butler signing. I think he may be a really nice addition to the DL. He gives you a penetrator on the interior and versatility. He just looks like heā€™s a great fit for this defense.

  20. bailbondmike says:

Randy, I saw someone’s pre-OTA and TC final 53 breakdown which was close to what many of us are thinking but he had Butler not making the team. I thought that was such BS.

I was excited about the signing and thought he gives us another Sieler type penetrator on the DL.

I see either Jenkins being the odd man out or, more preferably, Jones and/or Strowbridge getting another year on the PS.

  21. bailbondmike says:

Not posting the article but this is the title:

“Packers president Mark Murphy: Aaron Rodgers is a ‘complicated fella’ ”

I take that as a nice way of saying Rodgers is being a little bitch. lol

  22. bailbondmike says:

Went back and looked up 2 players I wanted last draft in my mocks and both had great rookie seasons.

Antonio Gibson was the big back I wanted last year at 6’2 220 with sub 4.4 speed. Rookie season he averaged 4.7 per carry, 11 TD’s and that was playing more than half the season with turf toe.

    and Justin Jefferson

  23. is it like nit picking to say the cheerleaders have ugly uniforms? lol
    they should go au naturel.

nothing says Miami like the beaches, palm trees, and nude women do, and the beaches

and palm trees, are topless and clothing optional

who wants to see bras and shorts on palm trees?

  24. the best way to make elections more secure, is convict and ban the candidates that are guilty of cheating, or denying legal voters to vote

its not the voters committing wide spread fraud, its the authoritarians and control freaks that want to decide who gets to vote and who doesnt

  25. the ID question is simple

trump says ID is required to buy groceries, hes got it all figured out?, SMH

obviously the ID excuses are just that, excuses that dont add up to truth and reality

i showed my id and reg card when i voted, like everyone in line did before me,

there was no need to change anything, except the AC could have been set lower, it was hot in there, lol

  26. state issued ID and registration card are mandatory to vote in FL

there isnt any new id laws needed, the ones on the book already require it

  27. In Statehouses, Stolen-Election Myth Fuels G.O.P. Drivea to Rewrite Rule

this is the real problem, GOP wants to deny constitutional rights, because they lost the elections,

does anyone think Trump would have called raffensperger begging for votes if he won?

  28. bailbondmike says:

    and 3, 2, 1, I’m out…

  29. bailbondmike says:

My God David, you bring up talking points and things that are wrong with this country but fill your POV with some biased false rhetoric, some unresearched knee jerk reaction, some agenda driven, some exaggerations and/or some inflated inaccuracies. Note I say “some”. You do this, IMO, to trigger people on purpose. The way you come across, TBH, you are just like Trump. The man you hate.

You are a one way conversation and make discussions pointless. You ignore and are blind to other POV’s.

You could get a job as a field reporter for CNN or MSNBC in a nanosecond.

So, again, I’m out. Maybe BBL.

    • i never do that shit, SMH
just ignore me like you ignore reality, and we are good

i respect other viewpoints, SAID I DID SO< and debate back and forth respectfully, and ask questions i have not made up lies about other bloggers and attack them, like You did

You SHOULD be out if you are only going to lie about Me, goodbye , have a great day

    • you can NEVER prove ANYTHING i said was false rhetoric, so stop lying about it

there isnt any need for false rhetoric, i didnt lose GA< didnt even run, lol

  30. New Age says:

This is what I’m talking about with the FBI and their background checks. I remember how well they did Nik Cruz’s background check or Dylann Roof’s in SC. I could probably garner a huge list.

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/fbi-database-for-gun-buyers-missing-millions-of-records/ar-BBEPuJB
    https://www.rollcall.com/2019/12/03/fbi-never-completes-hundreds-of-thousands-of-gun-checks/

Fix the system before you move to the next one. Before you add changes, see if you can actually do the job right. Once again, 12 agents went to see Bubba about a fake noose but the FBI doesn’t even do background checks properly. Which is the bigger issue?

    • bailbondmike says:

      Hmm, Democrat priorities.

“Congressional Democrats were in negotiations with the White House over possible gun check legislation for months after a series of recent high-profile mass shootings, but those talks stalled after House Democrats launched their impeachment inquiry.”

    • i read the first link, its very interesting, and brings up a question as to why states are not always reporting to the FBI?

the paragraph in the link that gave some clue to it, it said

Experts who study the data say government agencies responsible for maintaining such records have long failed to forward them into federal databases used for gun background checks ā€” systemic breakdowns that have lingered for decades as officials decided they were too costly and time-consuming to fix.

      • New Age says:

We have the money though don’t we? Why couldn’t some of that 23 trillion dollar deficit go towards this?

  31. Phindog says:

    Holy Fuck šŸ˜³

  32. if the republicans would join the democrats and sign the john Lewis bill, then that would solve alot of the problems from states creating rules to cheat

it would also give US voters a chance to federally challenge the new rules, before the rules come into effect, saving litigation costs and possible cheating or stolen elections

  33. BBM< If You really mistakenly think i do false rhetoric, then be specific, and provide a source to debate it and ill consider it

but i know Me better than You do, and know i dont do false rhetoric, so You will have to PROVE your misguided point for me to even address it fairly, and NOT think of You as a drama queen for doing that

balls in your court, BECAUSE u made a false claim about me, you deserve no trust, so back it up with proof or screw off

  34. Rockphin says:

I only wish that both sides, the Libtards and the Contards would take a break from rhetoric and specious arguments long enough to examine issues, whatever they are, without the tribal fucking filters that make you all seem so ignorant!

  35. Rockphin says:

    Watch out for “Them”
“They” have a nefarious plot against “us”

  36. Mike E. says:

David – You voted in the Republican run state of Florida. In New Jersey, only paper mail in ballots or drop off ballots, no voting in person with ID at all. To top it off, and this is 100% true, I dropped off all 4 ballots from my family with my son, and about 3 weeks or so later, I get a letter from the election board that my signature on my ballot doesn’t match the signature they have on file so I had to fill out a form, which I did and mail it back, which I did. I was the only vote for Trump. Go figure. I never received any confirmation that my vote counted. It was either pretty fishy or a coincidence, or maybe both.

    • Ken says:

Or an alternative explanation is the system works and was doing what it was supposed to do. It noted a discrepancy and gave you enough notice to make sure your vote would be cast in time. I do agree with you that there should be some official confirmation that your vote was received

    • stangerx says:

But what would the motive be to mess with your vote. The Winner in NJ was set before the polls ever opened. Nobody in that state had to rig anything anymore than in Alabama.

    • thanks for Your story of experience, the states handle things differently from state to state,
but there wasnt any evidence presented in court of widespread fraud,

trump told so many lies, got caught pressuring raffensperger, is a also sore loser, that lost, and incited an insurrection where people died and were chanting hang mike pence

so IMO< hes not a reliable source of information that more restrictive laws are needed to keep elections secure, he was unable to convince the courts with evidence, and he got caught trying to cheat

  38. D says:

Just curious am I getting blocked? I have posted a couple things recently with videos attached and they haven’t showed up.

    • Ken says:

      Certainly not on this end

    • D says:

Not that I was blocked by admins but are my posts “waiting for approval” or something?

    • stangerx says:

Think that post being here along with “with videos attached” answers your own question. Not sure exactly how it works but URLs can get you put in the holding pen. Have learned that putting more than one in a message is a sure way to get there.

    • D says:

It was just the ones with videos so maybe there is something about them? It was different YouTube videos, but they were all YouTube, 2 music video and just now one šŸ•œ f those officer Tatum ones

    • D says:

Again not pointing a finger at admins I just felt y’all might be able to see if I got blocked by the website

    • Ken says:

Not sure about the technical stuff. Twice usually figures that out for us

    • D says:

Well it worked this time. Lol. Figures.

Anyways, I don’t understand why they aren’t more selective on who they rally behind and whine they call victims. This guy was a punk, a bad kid doing bad stuff. I’m not going to comment on the justified shooting because frankly I haven’t dug I to the details deep enough but the little I have already doesn’t seem this was a victim. More like a bad kid who put himself in a dangerous place and that shit caught up to him.

The dude in Minnesota shot while going for his paperwork in his car truly got me pissed. I watched the video and the cop completely freaked out, he shouldn’t have been a cop unable to handle that low of a level of stress and danger. That guy deserved to be a focus of this type of protesting. Not a lot of these others

You start cramming in every black person killed by police with them being true travesties and your muddying the waters. The dude in Ferguson, this guy, several others just don’t have a place in the argument. I do disagree with him that there aren’t white people also doing bad shit and putting themselves in the sane position and also being killed but they also aren’t supported by athletes and entertainers and having millions of monies funneled to their support like these guys have been.

Seems this is truly a subject to be selective of the support given and I can’t understand why they are all lumped in together. Do they even understand what kind of person the are standing up for?

      • D says:

        Who not whine

      • D says:

Oh and a lot of it is fear. Maybe the fear us racist, but like I was saying to Stanger the other day a lot is fear and self preservation and they judge the danger of the neighborhood, color, dress, attitude of the person into determining if they are fearful. Then it just escalates from there and poor training or poor person selected to be the cop combined with no compliance = someone dying. Sometimes it’s the cop ya know, that’s also not discussed much.

  39. Mike E. says:

David – It’s not about Trump, or Biden. We’re just discussing the election process. Honestly, it really bugged me that we were able to go to the supermarket, Home Depot etc. but couldn’t vote in person here in NJ. They could have easily figured out a place to do it safely, just as they have done with the vaccine centers they set up. If they could do that safely, they could have voted safely too. They didn’t even try.
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Ken – My signature has been the same forever, and my wife signed my son’s ballot because he wasn’t here, so your accuracy and fairness theory goes out the window there. I’m not saying there was a conspiracy but it was funny how the only Trump vote in my family got tripped up. In any case, you need 6 points of ID to get your drivers license, you should need the same to vote. Is the DMV racist? I don’t recall hearing any issues with that. Do the same for voting if you want fair elections.

    • stangerx says:

If you need “6 points of ID to get your drivers license”…. why shouldn’t your driver’s license be good enough to vote?

      • D says:

Why not DNA. Could get Mikey to create the helping hand crew and everyone could be nice and relaxed after voting in stead of all stressed out like they went in.

      • Mike E. says:

Because you can take someone else’s drivers license that may look enough like you, it’s a small picture, and vote illegally. It’s much harder to provide that much false ID and get away with it. If it was clear before hand that you needed the 6 points of ID, it would work. Nothing wrong with a little scrutiny so you get a fair and honest election.

    • D says:

Mine is different every time I sign and it’s purposeful because if it looks normal, I didn’t sign that lol

  40. i do think that if the states were engaging in widespread fraud, it wouldnt have just shown up out of the blue in 2020, it would have also shown up in 2016, and likely before that as well.

we do know that hillary won the popular vote, but lost the election, was there fraud for trump then? we might not ever know

because trump and some on the GOP wanted to only question and accuse the swing states that went for Biden, showed they werent really concerned so much with election integrity , and they were more about remaining in power

its not proof of fraud if a swing state goes one way or the other, thats why they are called swing states

election integrity needs to be valued across all 50 states imo, because the total of all the states, decide federal election results

  41. Mike E. says:

D – There are 2 of your comments caught up in spam. I have no idea what the filter settings are for this website. Not sure what was in those posts but it certainly wasn’t any of the admins that stopped them.

  42. D says:

There aren’t any admins here that are that kind and what I post generally wouldn’t fall in a category of needed to be blocked. I never felt like it was that scenario.

  43. agree with D, admin is good here, and thanks for them for providing a platform, and all the work it requires to maintain it

  44. D says:

Apparently the guy who was killed by the cops in Baton Rouge after they busted him selling stolen merch, just got a settlement of 4mil for his family. The cops families for the ones killed when another dude pissed about that shooting, called them out and ambushed them got the standard pension and life insurance policy. Seems to be something wrong there.

  45. in FL, DL is not needed if You have a state issued ID< or military ID

if You show up to vote and have NO id, then you can cast a provisional ballot, and you have to prove thats really who you are later, in ways the state spells out that usually revert back to DL, state ID< or military ID proof at a later date

after ID is established, the provisional ballot turns into a real one

  46. New Age says:

    Stanger,

Because each state has different licensing requirements. For instance, in California, undocumented immigrants can get a drivers and vote in their state elections. Why is it easy and necessary to have ID to get your welfare or to get your job but not to have a special ID to vote? How is that difficult?

    • stangerx says:

You also have to be registered to vote and have the driver’s license (or other ID) match that on the rolls. Just don’t see the big issue. Voter Fraud is a felony. Who commits a felony to cast one vote? And even if they do and get away with it — is just one vote.

Large scale voter fraud is a different subject. All for our systems stringently being kept safe from hacking and such.

      • New Age says:

If it’s not an issue though, then why all the pushback? I agree that just one vote won’t capsize the Titanic so what’s the harm. For me, it’s all about making people feel their votes count. Voter ID does that for a lot of people.

      • stangerx says:

Didn’t everyone around you always feel the elections were legitimate and fraud rare until 6 years ago? Feel no desire to support the tantrums of a guy who cheats at golf and is now trying to cheat an election. And back to why a voter ID would be better than a passport or a driver’s license. If more secure then seems overkill.

    • its impossible for undocumented immigrants to vote in federal elections, or receive federal benefits

they Can get some benefits in some states, like a AB60 DL in California, but they have to provide passports, and other proof along with it

this was done because 1 in 5 fatal crashes undocumented immigrants were involved, and US citizens were getting killed and financially screwed, they didnt have auto insurance

so the program has helped with auto insurance, and improved driving skills, so it has benefited US citizens with their lives and their investments

  47. FL, like all of the states, has members of the military that are stationed overseas for years, and cant come to the states to renew their Drivers liscenses and vote in their local precincts without going AWOL

they still get to vote, but they use Military ID and mail in votes

ā€œIā€™ll never play for Andy Reid again,. Iā€™d retire first.ā€

    — Le’Veon Bell, who did not like playing for the Chiefs but loved his time with the Jets and the Steelers…….OOPS

    • New Age says:

I’m glad his career is at this point. The guy never appreciated what he had.

      • stangerx says:

But man was he a great back with the Steelers. His hesitation then pick a hole style certainly made him one of the most memorable. Part of that was his incredible acceleration in the first few yards. Wonder if he still has that.

      • i feel hes not a great fit for the Dolphins, and the risks outweigh the rewards

i wont get excited if Miami brings him in, lol

      • stangerx says:

Whatever we think David….. no way does Flores let him into our locker room.

  50. the term undocumented immigrant, doesnt mean illegal immigrants, although many of them can be

but it also has to include thousands of immigrants that were previously legally documented, but didnt file their paperwork and pay their fees on time, or because its a process that takes many years to legally immigrate and become a US citizen, sometimes as much as 20 years or more.

the feds are extremely slow to process paperwork, so slow that many times expiration dates pass, and still no word back from them, even though paperwork and fees were presented in a timely manner

  51. my wife took 10 years to legally immigrate and become a US citizen, and there was steps to it all along the way with more paperwork, fees , etc that had expiration dates

if anyone of those expiration dates passed waiting for the government to process things, then exemptions can be made while waiting on Uncle Sam to continue the process, but the legal status is in a big gray area that lawyers need to answer the specifics on it,
they basically can resort back to undocumented immigrants, depending on their previous legal status and a ton of other factors
its extremely complicated and expensive, lol that is why many choose to NOT legally immigrate

maybe if the process wasnt so slow and expensive, more would be legally documented and wouldnt try to sneak in

  52. I have been to a US citizen swearin, where everyone gets their US citizenship,
many break down in tears, because it is SO special to them, and was hard earned over a very long time

it was very inspiring, and made me thankful that i never had to do it. at the same time i thought if it means so much to them, what does it mean to Me ? Ill never take it for granted, thats for sure

Linebacker Jerome Baker and the Miami Dolphins have agreed on a three-year contract extension worth $39 million, including $28.4 million guaranteed, his agent
    @DrewJRosenhaus
    tells ESPN.

    • OMG, maybe the Fins will do the same to Howard soon, hes an ALL PRO with 10 interceptions last year

    • stangerx says:

And just a few days ago when asked about net year he basically said, “not really worried, will all work itself out.” Did he ever make clear he wanted to stay with the Phins and in Miami though. Maybe “YEAH TEAM ” is the right negotiating stance.

Dude makes some loud hits. You hear them on the tube and know it was him even if didn’t see.

  54. one thing i like about Boyer is the way he moves our defenders around

he really did a good job having Baker and others in great positions to make some plays.

on many of the Dolphins defensive highlights, watching the positional placement of the defenders looks beautiful

they always seem to have one or more defenders breaking free to the quarterback, and the receivers are covered. we need to work on consistency, and the plays that DIDNT make the highlight films

Miami has the potential to be one of the top defenses this year, and bringing in Phillips and Mckinney will help us make even more big plays

  55. Mike E. says:

Awesome #55 is here on an extension! Well earned and well done by Miami

  56. one of my favorite plays from Baker. is when he chased Mahomes backwards for a huge loss, lol

  57. stangerx says:

Some random snippets from stories on the Baker signing.
    ———————————–
“Baker has played in all 48 games through three seasons, starting 37. He has 317 tackles (14 for loss), 11.5 sacks, 20 QB hits and 10 pass breakups in his career.”

“Over the past two years, he’s combined for 238 tackles, which has led the team in consecutive seasons.”

“Baker is one of the Dolphins’ defensive leaders and brings energy on and off the field. He specializes in pass coverage.”

“At only 24 years old, Baker’s best days could still be ahead of him. Coach Brian Flores is a big fan of Baker, and now he’ll be trusted with developing into a veteran leader.”

“Among stack linebackers in the NFL, the $13M annual average salary on Bakerā€™s new extension ranks 7th-highest in the NFL.” “The annual average ranks sixth among off-ball linebackers in the NFL.” (guess depends on how you count those)

His agent — Drew Rosenhaus, who sure wasn’t talking to the press before this deal was done.

  58. New Age says:

Glad to see Baker for at least 3 more years. Definitely one of the reasons it was so good last year.

  59. Tim Knight says:

Awesome signing Baker to an extension. He earned it.

  60. stangerx says:

Almost makes you think more about which team than what makes sense. Exact same question.
    ————————————————–
A poll of 1,000 voters asked if they approved of Biden’s American Jobs Plan that would use $2.3 trillion to upgrade the country’s infrastructure over the next 10 years, including improving roads and bridges, electric grids, drinking water and access to broadband internet. Only 29% of Republicans approved while 96% of Democrats approved.

But when the question was posed without naming the plan as of President Biden, Republican approval for infrastructure doubled ā€” to 59%, while the same 96% of Democrats approved.

    • Tim Knight says:

Thought I’m not a proponent of big government, infrastructure is for everyone. That said, I’ll believe it when I see it. Will all that money go to what it’s supposed to be for? Something tells me it won’t.

      • stangerx says:

Infrastructure just makes sense. It’s an investment in our lives and our future. The money spent is not like sending people a check. The results are for decades. Was for it when Trump said would do it (have no idea why never did) and for it now that Biden is trying.

And if you want gov money to be efficiently spent on exactly what intended…. time to move to Switzerland. This would be about the best program we have.

      • Tim Knight says:

Stanger, why can’t government officials/politicians control themselves and focus on the objective and what the spending is for without all the pork BS? Are they wired to lie and be deceitful?

      • stangerx says:

Tim — some of that, but not mainly my experience having worked both for government and with elected leaders and their staffs. In no way is government perfect and no doubt a private enterprise works more efficiently but not sure what other choice there is. As Winston Churchill said:

“Indeed it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.ā€¦”

    • Mike E. says:

If Biden wants to create more jobs, cut the fat unemployment benefits that has everyone getting paid and lazy and get people back to work! We don’t need to “spend” to get people back to work, we have to cut spending. That being said, like Tim said, I’d like to see the other bullshit stuffed into that plan, because there’s probably tons of it.

      • stangerx says:

If you want to see what was in the original plan you just have to hit Google. And yeah the Dems put a lot in it that you and I would not consider infrastructure. But what’s great about it is the Republicans are dealing. Have offered their own plan. Their amounts on it have gone up and Biden’s down. So they want it….. or at least know saying no F–ing way will not be popular.

We’ll see what happens, but this one has a chance. Particularly since one thing think the Dems will do via reconciliation even if can’t agree with the other side.

      • there is more to it than that, there are studies showing people are quitting their jobs at a high rate, and going for better jobs

minimum wage is not the draw it once was, people want and NEED more than minimum wage to live on

    • trump lied about the infrastructure, so when Bidens name is mentioned as improving the infrastructure, it reminds them of trumps failed promises

      • Tim Knight says:

You got to let Trump go, dude. It’s like a sickness with people who are still focused on him. Focus on the now.

      • hes gone, just talking about why the above study that republican voters wanted infrastructure, and when Bidens name is mentioned they dont want it

      • Tim Knight says:

Democrats do the same thing. People who are all about party always push back when it’s not their representative. It’s all about tribalism. We’re at the point where people on one side or the other would rather see their opponent fail than to do the good work of the people. That’s about as immature as it gets.

  61. Restaurant workers are quitting at record-high rates, and it could force their employers to raise wages, experts say
    https://www.businessinsider.com/restaurant-workers-are-quitting-at-record-rates-2021-6

    • Mike E. says:

People are quitting jobs in lots of sectors, because they’d rather collect unemployment. It’s a countrywide issue right now. If you don’t want a minimum wage, learn a skill so you can get paid more. Go to college and get a career, even if it’s community college. Instead people are taking advantage of the system.

      • Mike E. says:

Better yet, learn a technical skill like a mechanical trade and you’ll get a job in a millisecond

      • thats part of it, but there are also thousands, like myself, that never collected unemployment, they started small businesses, or slammed the coins and stock market and lived on that

doge coin bitcoin, and others had their biggest jump in years, during the pandemic, and the MOST volume

      • if you have a 4 year engineering degree you could become a property surveyor and have more work than your wildest dreams

the wait list for surveyors is running 4-8 months in my area

  62. American workers stayed at home for so long, many found better alternatives,

and now some find it difficult to go back to minimum wage jobs that treat them like shit

minimum wage doesnt cover child care, let alone pay many bills

  63. olddolphan says:

CONGRATS to any and all Islander fans in the audience. They clearly outplayed the home standing Lightning team and won game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals 2-1. Tampa Bay looked lethargic at times. And the usually reliable Vasilevsky let in two goals through the 5 hole–an embarrassing mistake for a Vezina winning goaltender!!
    ———
THAT SAID, even really good teams lose games (except, of course, the ’72 Dolphins). The VGK came back from losing the first two games against the Avalanche and won 4 straight. However, no one wants to fall behind 2 games to none to Barry Trotz’s Islanders. SO, I EXPECT the Lightning to come out breathing FIRE for Game 2 at AMALIE ARENA in Tampa a couple of days from now.

  64. the coins have shot up all week, and for the last year and change, with up to 100 margins, you can make thousands of dollars a day on just a small portfolio

its alot better than mopping floors at publix, or making tacos at taco bell, or cleaning the bathrooms at walmart, or telling tourists to watch their step a thousand times a day on plastic kiddie rides, cleaning up shamus shit, . or picking oranges, for less than $100 per day

    • Mike E. says:

You know what, someone has to mop the floors, make tacos at Taco Bell or clean bathrooms. These are usually people w/o formal education or trade skills. Take away their extra fat unemployment benefits and all of a sudden those jobs start looking pretty damn good!

      • Mike E. says:

In other words, stop giving people government handouts.

      • those jobs have always sucked, and yea someone has to do it, but not many want to do it

there is another option, the rich billionaires cough up a tiny bit more, and pay the ones that made those billions for THEM

do u think Bezos can deliver a million packages a day, or does he need employees? he sits on his ass, gets tax breaks, and even gets the landfills to modify their equipment to handle more amazon garbage

we need to stop taxpayer subsiding the rich billionaires and huge corporations like amazon, make them pay their fair share like the rest of us, and pay the employees more

  65. Mike E. says:

David – It’s not about billionaires paying a little more, it’s about certain jobs with low skill levels are on the low end of the pay scale. Should people who flip burgers at McDonalds or clean bathrooms get paid $30 an hour? No, unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way. While these rich billionaires may be douchebags personally, they still provide a shit ton of jobs so there’s something to be said for that.

    • $30? no. but $9 wont cut it

      mcdonalds pays $9, not $30

and who decided all of this, the corporations of course,

but now the people are sick of their shit, and dont want to work for $9 an hour at such a shitty dead end job

    • Tim Knight says:

Not only does Amazon provide tons of jobs, they provide a service that people want. Not everyone likes to shop and go to malls. So they bring it to you. It was a brilliant business idea by Bezos and he reaps the rewards of his hard work starting a business from the ground up.

David, didn’t you recently argue in favor of people starting their own businesses. So because Bezos was incredibly successful with his, now he’s a bad person?

The attack on people who are wealthy because they took chances, worked hard and became successful needs to stop. It’s fucking stupid!!!

  66. unemployment in FL is running out soon, and its not very much money anyway

if the employers paid decent wages, some do, they can get the quality help they need, You get what u pay for in this case

you cant expect anyone to want to work for $8-9 an hour, SMH thats chump change in 2021

workers will quit and go to the higher paying employers, or the ones running out of unemployment, will also go to the higher playing employers eventually

people have more power than they did before the pandemic, they get to call the shots now, instead of being corporate slaves, they can choose a better way

  67. Krishna says:

Corporate welfare, poor people welfare, defense industry welfare, child care and family welfare, COVID welfare, health care welfare, tax system welfare, etc, etc…..who judges which welfare is better for the greater good. It’s all fucking welfare.

In most states unemployment taxes are paid by employers before COVID. Now they are welfare benefits.

    When does it stop?

    • stangerx says:

Agreed that government money is government money. But that’s no real secret. Question is who the gov supports, who it does not, and how much does it support the people and entities it does. And that is a math beyond calculus.

In other words, stop giving people government handouts.

I agree, but what about corporation getting handouts, and even worse, not paying their fair share of taxes, should they continue getting government handouts also?

i think the corporate subsidies should go first, and their taxes get raised to the same level as everyone else

trumps a billionaire and paid $750 in taxes one year, the same year i paid over 10 times that much as he did, and im not even close to a millionaire, let alone billionaire

why should billionaires get huge breaks and handouts, and the people get very little, and take flak for that very little while the huge amounts are ignored?

we should stop sucking corporate cock and encourage more mom and pop businesses IMO

    • if i pay 10 times more a year than trump, and other billionaires, why cant i collect unemployment?

i dont collect it because i dont need it and dont like hassling with all the paperwork, but i deserve to claim it if i qualify for it and want it

      • stangerx says:

If you are eligible and don’t want to go through the paperwork…. your choice. When’s the last time you had an on the books job?…. normally that employer would pay like half your benefits.

      • i was self employed for most of my life, I would be the employer in this case

there are several bloggers in this room, that have successful businesses with employees, i used to be one of them

but they treat their employees good, and pay them well, and they pay their fair share of taxes, and dont buy off the politicians and destroy the environment mass scale

reigning in the out of control corporations and monopolies , that are crushing the life out of many mom and pops, is the best answer IMO

      • stangerx says:

If you were self-employed how are you eligible for unemployment? That’s the part don’t get.

  69. stangerx says:

Workers will take jobs when the pay makes them want too. Really as simple as that.

And if Americans see the pay of some jobs beneath them…. there is a simple answer. Plenty of people at the border willing to do it.

You think any US citizen actually picks grapes or melons? Legal or not way it has always been.

  70. Krishna says:

Everyone takes or is given a piece. 1%’ers not paying taxes ANY year or limited to a 15 % tax rate is welfare….oops it’s part of our legal tax system. Technically, not welfare, just advantaged.

    Unemployment benefits are legal, too.

    • stangerx says:

Top one percent paid 40% of all income taxes in 2018. Whatever the rate is now they at least pay some.

  71. manitobafinfan says:

Start paying everyone 30.00 an hour then wait for bitching when costs of goods Triple

    • yet another reason to reign in the corporations, mom and pops dont usually exploit communities, they serve them to the best of their personal abilities

      • manitobafinfan says:

Mom and pop would still be out of business as fruit pickers, canners, warehouse workers wages would all cause the Mom and Pop to charge 3X what they are now , nevermind also having to pay staff 30.00 an hour

      • steveccnv says:

And how many mom and pops went out of business, because of the lockdowns?

You bitch about the billionaires, but it’s the establishment politicians, that do their dirty work, that people like you keep putting in office.

Min wage jobs aren’t intended to be for a head of household, their for people just starting out in the job market, if that’s all you can get, do something else and work your way up

    • stangerx says:

That’s the argument about raising the minimum wage. Would increase costs on a lot of thing. Be like a tax. Same time, I’m OK with it. Feel bad for folks who have to live off minimum wage. Willing to pay more to make their lives better. But understand both that just me and that am fortunate.

      • manitobafinfan says:

Exactly, and despite them getting 30.00 an hour they would still be not making it because everything they need to buy is inflated by extra labor costs. Now instead of 35000 (just pulling this # outta my ass) being a poverty line , be a lot higher.

      • stangerx says:

You double the minimum wage and the folks making it wouldn’t be able to buy twice as much. They’d still be able to buy more though.

  72. bailbondmike says:

Man, y’all living in shitty areas? $8-$9 an hour. Walmart is hiring shelf stockers starting at $15 an hour and McDonald’s is hiring also starting at $15 an hour here in Pensacola.

    BBL, nap time!

  73. Krishna says:

Who on this blog lives on a minimum wage? Facts.

  74. Mike E. says:

So just for example. Take my business. I work in the Optical field, so there are places that have MD’s, like Ophthalmologists, OD’s which are Optometrists, Opticians who make and dispense eyeglasses like myself, and then there are sales people, lab technicians, technicians who do pre testing for the doctors. Say the salespeople make anywhere from $10-15 per hour, if you raise minimum wage to $15 per hour, you force the small business to now pay people who have no experience $15 per hour and then they likely are forced to give raises to their current staff who were making either less than $15 or about $15. That puts a huge strain on the business owner who is then forced to downsize his staff, or make less money, one or the other. So while it’s all wonderful to want everyone to make more money, there are ramifications, and they aren’t pretty!

  75. Mike E. says:

Corporations get tax cuts because they employ so many people. It’s a fact of life, and honestly, nothing wrong with it. Without big corporations there would be so many less jobs available. If you want to complain about corporate CEO’s making hundreds of millions dollars annually, that’s a different story but big corporations aren’t inherently evil.

    • steveccnv says:

Many of which keep prices low for the consumer

    • so its fine for billionaires to get huge tax breaks because they hire alot of people,? the corporations love it when the masses do their promo for them

the moms and pops also hire alot of people , but do not get corporate payouts, and they pay their fair share of taxes, it sucks i have to pay 10 times more than trump, there is NO logical reason on earth i have to pay 10 times than trump, and i cant change my opinion, because it sucks paying it out, and rich people are deadbeats and freeloaders

the difference between self employment, or mom and pop and working for a corporation
is satisfaction, control of Your life and Your future, ability to make decisions and help people, and have a chance to make all of your dreams come true, or maybe some of them, lol

  76. manitobafinfan says:

Our minimum wage I believe is 11.50 . But a Big Mac here is about 5.00 .. I order from McDs my meal is 14-20 for me alone .. not that eat there more than once a year

  77. Krishna says:

At $25/hr, annual is 52K. Family of 4. Good luck.

$15/hr is $32K. Good luck. And, I could actually do that if I made some changes. Lol.

Why is the disparity so huge? Walk away is an answer.

I have never been able to figure it out why we should be the richest nation on the planet (American exceptionalism is not rivaled on this planet), and yet the economic divide is so great.

There is so much poverty here and it’s baffling to me.

    • stangerx says:

Is there really that much poverty here? In most countries out there a person on US welfare benefits would be well off. Never saw being on them stop people from having the latest I-phone.

The exception to that is homelessness, but that’s a different story. Cause mainly by drugs and mental illness with some “in transition” for various reasons who don’t tend to stay on the streets long.

    • its called wealth inequality,
the rich exploit the workers, and the government, and try to brainwash the working class into working for them for chump change wages and pay full percentage of tax for the rich deadbeats

  78. steveccnv says:

Never understood the pandering to those who were fuckups in school, and make min wage as adults.

My co-worker had her 40th reunion this year, they had some type of fund raiser to raise money for the class to make it to the reunion.

This socialist mentality for adults is unbelievable, when you’re a kid a do a fund raiser, that’s 1 thing, but as an adult it’s charity.

Imagine someone making over 60k asking for this handout. No different from the guy panhandling on the corner, then walking a block down the street to get in his caddy.

They put scam shit like this on the local news

    • are you ok with billionaire handouts, congress passing laws for them to pollute, and letting the richest 1 percent skip paying federal taxes?

the nation has a HUGE debt, it could use the extra revenues it would get if EVERYONE paid the same percentage of their incomes, even the gates, buffets, musks, bezos and trumps

      • steveccnv says:

You can’t just say billionaire handouts and expect me to answer that, be more specific, but in general…

In Reno NV they gave Amazon tax breaks to build a large dist. center, in turn Amazon employed thousands of Nevadians.

I don’t see that as a problem, as for other favors for big business in a corrupt manner I’m against

  79. Krishna says:

Maybe so Stanger…I would never compare US poverty to the rest of the world. And, if living in US, why would you make a global comparison. Goes to my American exceptionalism point.

    • stangerx says:

An American exceptionalism point? I was going to Americans are fat and lazy. What saw in Africa and Brazil proved that to be the case for me.

      • Krishna says:

Yes they are, NO doubt. Where else would you live? And if know of a better please share.

  80. steveccnv says:

In PA and MI, they found unapproved SQL Server software, that can change election results, without a trace

  81. Krishna says:

Steve the scams are everywhere…Top, Down.

It can be better without blaming one side….I will bite my tongue now.

  82. Mike E. says:

Not everyone who owns or works high up for a big corporation is a billionaire. If they become a billionaire over time, good on them, that’s capitalism, a huge part of what makes this country so great. Corporations hire so may more people than any individual mom and pop business. I already explained to you how raising the minimum wage could potentially cripple a mom and pop business because they would likely have to trim down their staff which then causes more unemployment. Mom and pop stores get certain tax breaks too. No reason to just blindly hate big corporations or billionaires for that matter. Some billionaires are extremely charitable and do many philanthropic good things.

    • capitalism makes wealth inequality great,

if they pay no taxes, they get no credit for making the nation great IMO

people like YOU and ME make the nation great, not the musks, bezos, etc

    • Krishna says:

Great….pay your taxes. Simple as that. Raise prices, whatever.

Doesn’t have to be a dissertation on why you don’t. I must be clueless.

  83. In 2007, Jeff Bezos, then a multibillionaire and now the worldā€™s richest man, did not pay a penny in federal income taxes.
. He achieved the feat again in 2011. In 2018, Tesla founder Elon Musk, the second-richest person in the world, also paid no federal income taxes.

wealth inequality is harming the nation IMO
is this the best answer we have to paying off the debt, or the nations daily bills?, no wonder the nation falls further in debt every year

The secret IRS files: Trove of never-before-seen records reveals how the wealthiest avoid income tax

    • steveccnv says:

How can you worry about paying down the debt, then put people in office, that want a 3 trillion dollar infrastructure budget, that uses 50+% of the money on their kickback projects?

  84. it really boils down to who made who

the corporations getting their huge tax breaks, AND subsidies from WHO?

the taxpayers, US< You and ME, we paid OUR money, to help THEM become the richest in the world

would amazon and bezos be that rich without subsidies, and tax breaks? of course not, the nations taxpayers were crucial to their success

thats socialistic handouts, making capitalism work out for the rich only

    • steveccnv says:

Why are you so jealous of the rich? Someone did a lot of hard work and sacrifice

      • mom and pops ALSO do alot of hard work and sacrifice, and find it hard to survive when they DONT get tax breaks, and subsidies

do you like paying taxes and giving handouts to billionaires? thats where we have to respectfully disagree, in all respect to You

      • i dont want to support rich deadbeats, they arent my responsibility

      • steveccnv says:

All business owners do, some luckier than others and have better business models and dream bigger, again it ain’t fair, but it’s how it works.

It’s not a handout to a billionaire it’s a win win business deal

    • Tim Knight says:

David, who are the rich getting tax breaks from?

  85. steveccnv says:

Fuck wealth inequality, anyone in the US can be wealthy, sure some people were born into a rich family, but if not it just means it’s harder for you.

If you don’t have the money need it’s your own damn fault for making poor decision, quit asking for others to bail you out, man up

    • anyone can avoid taxes and get subsidies? thats interesting, i cant
or just the richest in the world?

but yea , they DO need to quit expecting handouts, and pay the same percent of taxes that You and I do

      • steveccnv says:

I wish they would too, but you act like they just get charity and do nothing for the tax breaks

    • Krishna says:

      Another urban legend or bullshit.

Not everyone, and those are facts. To a pro sports analogy, not everyone will be a great pitcher, golfer, goalie, etc.

Some people have talents, some people struggle to get buy, some do ok, and some game the system because they are lazy. Is t not at everyone? Lol.

      • steveccnv says:

Everyone can find their niche to be wealthy, but no everyone can’t be a great pitcher or golfer, they can find what works for them.

Name someone or a kind of legal US citizen that can’t

      • but if the government gave tax breaks and subsidies to tom brady, and the top 1 precent of the NFL, and no one else, would that be fair?

      • Krishna says:

Just not true, steve. Not everyone can be wealthy in this country just because you believe it.

Imo, that’s fucked up brainwashing white wing bullshit. No fucking way we all created equal.

Uh oh, stepping into religious territory. Oh fuck.

  86. Tim Knight says:

The market decides the wage, not bullying. People still have a hard time understanding how raising minimum wage from a compassionate standpoint vs. a market standpoint creates unemployment or the increase in cost of products and services. The free market doesn’t discriminate. It’s set by what people are willing to pay or trade. It’s organic. Then the overthinking intellectuals get involved and fuck it all up. We humans have proven time and time again that when we try to overthink nature, we fuck it up! It’s a fuckin merry-go-round. It never ends. LOL

  87. steveccnv says:

If you care about the debt, we could start by getting rid of corruption, but too many could careless about it

    • much agreed, and guess who finances the most corruption? corporations that dont pay taxes, and get subsidies, lol

its maddening to think how corporations get away with raping all of us, and laughing all the way to their offshore accounts while the nations burns

      • steveccnv says:

We can put competent people in office who won’t allow it and don’t take bribes.

When you vote for Biden, then say you care about corruption…

      • ALL politicians, presidents, congress, ALL of them accept bribes and payouts from corporatiions that get taxbreaks and subsidies

there are NOT any candidates to vote for that will say NO to corporations, except AOC and Sanders. and a few others,

and corporations KNOW THEIR names, and rich people, GOP, and the democrats, do everything they can to disparage and destroy them

twice bernie got cheated out of running for president, both times it was corporations running the dems that said lets go with superdelegates for hillary, biden, because hillary and biden are on the corporate take

democrats screw over democrats, republicans screw over republicans WHY?

        corporate MONEY

  88. Krishna says:

There is truth in people that take all the risks deserve the rewards.

You still need to pay your way as your risks are rewarded. That’s my point.

    • steveccnv says:

Some do give back and they should, but many give to charities as a way of reducing taxes, but its not a perfect world.

Govts make deals with these corps, to give them tax breaks. What’s wrong with that, if it’s win win?

  89. wyoming85 says:

    Your white collars are showing!

If you want to make money learn a trade!

If you want to smash your nuts go on SS!

If you’d let MF’s starve to death we wouldn’t have this problem!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Krishna says:

If you are addressing me, Wyo, what’s the point of your white collar remark? I must not get it or you have blue collar issues.

I’m pretty sure I have presented a more wholistic perspective

Not seeing that ever from you.

      • Krishna says:

I have no issues being considered white collar, you?

      • wyoming85 says:

        Was addressing the group!
        Not any specifics!

I am Blue collar so sometimes I do have issues with some statements. But don’t feel you are special! it’s from a lot on this board!

  90. wyoming85 says:

  93. Tim Knight says:

It seems to me a lot of people have an issue with innovation and evolution. Most people become a creature of habit. They don’t like change in their lives. When that changes there is an uproar. But it’s not going back to the way it was. Understand that and we all have less stress and anger towards people you don’t even know.

  94. Tim Knight says:

Almost makes you think more about which team than what makes sense. Exact same question

A poll of 1,000 voters asked if they approved of Bidenā€™s American Jobs Plan that would use $2.3 trillion to upgrade the countryā€™s infrastructure over the next 10 years, including improving roads and bridges, electric grids, drinking water and access to broadband internet. Only 29% of Republicans approved while 96% of Democrats approved.

But when the question was posed without naming the plan as of President Biden, Republican approval for infrastructure doubled ā€” to 59%, while the same 96% of Democrats approved.
    ————————-
Stanger, approximately 10% of the proposed “Infrastructure Bill” under Biden goes toward actual infrastructure. Moreover, another $2.3T in dept will be the final nail in the coffin of America… I don’t think anybody could argue with that. In fact, many feel we’re already past the point of no return in terms of ever being able to repay our debt.

This is more irresponsible spending by a rogue regime, hellbent on bankrupting this country.

The fog of war is upon us… it’s only a matter of time before WWIII is officially declared. “The Great Reset” is at the crux of it all, and the fight will be for national sovereignty. The NWO is real, and not conspiratorial.

Research ‘Agenda ’21’ or even ‘Agenda 2030’… they are very public and world-wide agendas, not conspiracy theories.

    • i can argue that the 2.3 trillion will NOT be the final nail in the coffin , there is no evidence to suggest that, nor has the bill passed either

and the 10 percent is only going to infrastructure sounds weird,i have only seen the bills that congress is currently looking at and debating,
i have never seen that number before and curious where it came from?

    • Krishna says:

      Another bullshit comment.

Our infrastructure isn’t even close to what American exceptionalism should protray, imo.

      Fucking ridiculous.

    • stangerx says:

So you are against the infrastructure proposals, even if apparently not with how they would be funded.

Getting a little scary with all the war is coming talk.

  96. wyoming85 says:

    David
    My name is Lee Harvey!
So I am my own source!

Imagine the uproar when people find out you can form your own thoughts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • lol i didnt k now that
thoughts and opinions are fine, and nice to Meet You, You already know my name, and you know i have lots of thoughts and opinions also, lol

but somewhere between all of our opinions lies the cold reality and facts, and sometimes facts suck, lol but they are still facts

  97. what nobody has discussed in the infrastructure bills, and other bills

IS CORRUPTION from corporations, and i swear i wont say that again tonite, lol

but we can find evidence for at least a hundred years or more that most bills have corporate pork in them, taxpayer subsidies, etc etc etc

im not sure if the nation has ever had a CLEAN bill passed, all of them stink of corruption , commonly called PORK
