DeVante Parker looked good on his first day of rookie camp.  He will be wearing #11.  which is good because #1 would be awkward.  See all the rookie’s numbers (for now) here

    Tim,
Not sure if you saw the video I posted of Philips vs Clemson but I didn’t really see “lazy”. Lazy people don’t chase a RB down 40 yards downfield from behind LOS with team down 34-0. I think maybe the lazy label comes from his role as NT in a 3-4 scheme. Watching NT work in general is very boring as their primary job is to control their gap and not attack.

And they’ll work him into shape. Plus if wind is the problem he’s probably going to be mostly in the run package. Seems when they need to get to the QB Mitchell will be in there. So he should have a lot more left in the tank by end of game than in college.

All these assists who keep saying “what’s a 1 PSU difference” are in denial. The case was already made that the Patriots were fumbling at a rate much lower than other NFL teams. We all know the stat on how turnover differential affects win – losses and if these assholes played into that with deflate gate then this level of cheating is off the charts

  25. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Hall of Fame coach Don Shula has never hidden his contempt for Patriots coach Bill Belichick. So when Shula appeared today at a 50th anniversary celebration of the Dolphins franchise, it was no surprise that he took a shot at the Patriots.

Shula referenced Deflategate in his comments, contrasting the way the Dolphins won with class with the way Beli-cheat, as Shula calls him, wins with something less than class.

“Always done with a lot of class. A lot of dignity. Always done the right way. We didn’t deflate any balls,” Shula said, via Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.

The 85-year-old Shula has been retired for two decades, but he’s still fiercely protective of the legacy of his teams, and ornery about the teams who don’t — in Shula’s opinion — play the game the right way. This wasn’t the first time we’ve heard Shula rip the Patriots, and it likely won’t be the last.

  26. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

We do need one more RB. 5 is very thin. 90 players and only 5 RBs (no UDFAs, none from the practice squad) 5 means they must all make the team, which is fine, but we really need one more, just for competition and splitting up the workload. None of those 5 can go on the practice squad. Some say the UDFA LB Luc can play FB, but I am not counting on that.

Pretty sure the deflatriots thought about deflating the footballs after that week one @$$ whooping. Super Bowl should be stripped

He sounds like he’s trying to pin more on the cheats than just the AFC Championship game. Sounds a little naïve to me, it’s been going on since 2007.

So what happens to the cheats after the fumble to touch ratio goes way up to 32:1 this season, after it’s been 73:1 since 2007? Do they open another Wells investigation and go after belicheat?

    • New Age's avatar New Age says:

I hope so. I wish the NFL would force them to use the exact same group on O with a ball inflated to 14 PSI. Would be an awesome experiment. Brady had 3 ints during the 2 games he actually fielded a legal ball..

Wyoming that article is awesome with all the details on Collins. I really liked this part.

“Initially, Gilmore and his colleagues split the most appealing teams into two lists of eight. Collins was asked to rank them from a lifestyle standpoint, and the agents ranked them in the other areas that were important criteria…

The list of contenders was whittled to six…Gilmore asked Collins which of those six he would like to speak with via Skype. But Collins preferred visits and wanted to take only two: Miami and Dallas.”
    —————–
And that’s before our LSU boys jumped on that plane. We’re talking about a guy who had pretty much all 32 teams to choose from and wherever he lands he’s going to get the exact same money. And we weren’t even offering the chance to play tackle, which his agent says he wants.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Tannebaum’s relationship with Collins’ agent gave us a little pull, but not sure it had anything to do with being in the top 2. We lost out, because he went to Dallas first, and Jerry schmoozed him.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Tannebaum’s relationship with the agent might have got us a courtesy mention, but doubt like you it would get us included in such an in-depth description of what happened unless true. Collins knows exactly what happened. Highly doubt his agent wants his client to read that and think, “my agent is lying out his ass right there.”

And yeah……Jerry Jones obviously put on a good show. It was interesting how Collins changed his mind at the last hour.

There’s about 3 very good catches there by Parker. One thing that usually isn’t considered when a great catch is made is the velocity of the ball when caught, not that I’m saying that’s the case here, but people went ape shit when Landry’s LSU running mate now on the Gmen made the catch last yr. Was it a great catch sure, but degree of real difficulty really isn’t know.

Let me explain why three #Dolphins draftees will be rookie starters. http://fw.to/YqLZ1OB

Ced Thompson and Tony Lippett won’t be starting for us to open the season, but I don’t see why the other 5 won’t have a good chance to start. Ajayi most likely start or not will split carries with Miller and may get more in the 4th quarter when we’re trying to close out the game. Parker start or not is going to get plenty of action. Phillips’ play will be determined by his motor. McCain will get a chance to be our nickel, but it may take him a little time before he’s the starting NCB, there’s just too many bodies to overtake to think a rookie is going to be playing in our secondary with Coyle as the DC. The one exception may be if he starts ballhawking in the preseason. Douglas will get every opportunity in the world to be a starting guard.

  90. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I think Jerry Jones offered Collins that contract before the draft, all guaranteed, and that’s why Collins told teams not to bother drafting him after the 3rd RD, because he had that contract money in hand already. Sucks, but good gamble by Jones, one that will likely pay off handsomely.

Rookies who earn it have started and played a lot here since 2012. Just because some don’t start doesn’t mean it’s a Philbin and Coyle issue. Sometimes rookies aren’t ready to start.
