WHAT WOULD MAKE HULK ANGRY? THE BILLS DEBACLE

incredible-hulk

By Dr. Bruce Banner

Hulk back. Hulk angry once again. I mean Hulk always angry especially at new job that makes it hard for Hulk to write as much as he would like. But really for the most part Hulk had been pretty optimistic this off season and Hulk looking forward to start of season and then first week ugly win make Hulk sweat but Hulk felt road win on week 1 always good thing and the team will shape up. Then road loss week 2 to lowly Jags and Hulk start getting angry. But Hulk says no way team come out flat against the toe suckers but then Hulk watch team fall flat on its face in one of worst games Hulk watch since the Titans debacle a couple of years back and you know what happens when Hulk gets angry. So here is what makes Hulk angry:

Hulk angry that coach Philbin still have job. Year in and year out coach Philbin manage to have team under perform in key games, especially against division foes. But owner loyal to a fault. He no fire the queasy coach, why? Hulk don’t know! It’s not like we have a track record of success with coach Joe. We are now into year 4 of Philbin and we really see nothing different about Phins.

Hulk angry that front office do nothing to fix offensive line in off season. Once again our offense line is truly offensive. We can’t pass block and we can’t run block. Our big off season acquisition was to wait to the 4th round to draft somebody and bring in a couple of journeymen linemen who really were no different than the journeymen we had on the roster. So guess what the result is. Our best OT is still hurt, we have back up OT that is not good and got hurt himself as well. Our 2 starting guards are among the lowest rated guards by PFF and offense looks like it stepped in quicksand as a result.

Hulk angry at Walt Aikens. Here is kid who has all the raw talent to be a monster in his own right. But kid don’t know how to cover receiver going deep down field. Aikens make Hulk long for Louis Delmas and Hulk no like Louis Delmas but he better than Mistaikens.

Hulk angry at Mike Tannenbaum. He was man who almost ruined Jets by making dumb contracts to players who underperform. He come to Miami and now doing same thing. Hulk angry that we have talent shortage at key positions along OL and at linebacker but we will have no cap space to do anything about that because we tied up too much money to too few players. Hulk fear this team will now be in cap hell with no way out.

All those things make Hulk angry but you know what make Hulk angrier than anything else? Himself. Hulk angry at Hulk because Hulk got fooled or suckered in by this supposed optimism coming from Davie. Hulk believed that things would be different this year because we got Suh. He would make us tougher, this team won’t be so soft anymore. This team will have a mean streak to it and play like that. Hulk really believed all that and that is what makes Hulk mad because Hulk was sold a lie. This team is just as soft as Jonathan’s Martin’s fragile ego ready to crumble at the first sign of adversity, throw it’s lunch tray down in the middle of the field and stomp off to go call mommy. No one on team has intestinal fortitude. No one on team make big play when it matters. No one play with urgency. All the things that were supposed to be different this year. Hulk angry at himself for believing that it actually would be. Now Hulk just angry that he has to start looking forward to next year and it is still September.

Yeah so we should keep putting no speed Shelby there and leave McCain in Philbin’s no way out dog house.
Did you see all the rookie players McCarthy and the Packers played last night.

You’d have an easier time getting out of Bat’s Labyrinth than you would Philbin’s House of Young and Unwanted.

      • ukfinfan's avatar ukfinfan says:

Fins redshirt all rookies for at least 5 seasons 😉 Don’t want to break any of our new toys. Hell – I think I may have taken up residence in Bat’s labyrinth ….. I need to get out of here before Sunday!!! Where’s the spare key Bat?

      • ukfinfan's avatar ukfinfan says:

PS Yep I did see the Pack last night. What a way to run a franchise. Drafted 35 of the 53. Only 3 players played for another franchise. Everyone knows their job and does it (even undrafted players and rookies). Consistently get YACs. Big bruising running backs that bowl you over. Couple of behemoth DTs who eat up OL and an OL which keeps a pocket intact against an awesome pass rush. Oh and one of the best QBs to play the game. Mobile, cool under pressure, great touch, always finds the open received and rarely makes mistakes. Oh and a coach with balls who doesn’t panic and has the team eating out of his hand.
The irony of the fact that Philbin wanted to create a GB south with the same model. So let’s see, how’d he do.
Aside: I actually now feel sorry for the coaching staff – the realisation has only just dawned on me that they are all completely out of their depth and in over their heads. Some of the comments made in the pressers that we just need to go back to work and it will all be ok beggar belief. I had assumed that they were experiencing growing pains but would come out stronger will all the lessons and experience they had picked up. Now I know that it will probably never come good. Sobering.

truly amazing you know this from overseas and our fans in states don’t know this. Bravo to you, sir.

I’m aware of his 2 year hammy problem, but he plays every game and has ZERO production to show for it. But he sure has “elite” locker room status doesn’t he. On a defense that can’t stop the run or the pass.

    • jetsssuck's avatar jetsssuck says:

actually they stopped the run except for a 48 yarder in the last quarter they would have held the bills to less than 100.

  8. jetsssuck's avatar jetsssuck says:

OL is pretty hard to build a good OL considering we have lost Grove,Smiley and Jake Long in a 2 year period then we get hit again in 2 yrs with loses of Dark Richie and J. Martin in addition we have a hobbled B.Albert who should be playing Guard like he did in college and why KC was so willingly let him walk. I guess this leaves us with some flexibility for the draft if they can convince him to switch back.

  9. son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

Parker is our second best Wide Receiver but he’s a rookie so he only gets 2 snaps a game or 6 if we’re getting blown out.

Tbf, he sat out most of pre-season after his op. Not trying to wind you up son, I know you are venting and with good reason. My anger has turned to sadness now. I do think we’ll see more of Parker as the season progresses and I’m really not sure why we have Jennings.

      • son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

I think I’m more sad too, I was fired up for this year and did not expect this crap.

      • jetsssuck's avatar jetsssuck says:

hey we played 1 bad half. We competed in second half which I believe we scored 14 as they did. Its a long season and everything is correctable as they did in the second half.If not for a few mistakes that went their way its a totally different ball game.

Imagine the coach who has to encourage the players and DC’s and OC’s and position coaches who work long hours 80 hours a week after such a loss. In the NFL their is no time to dwell on a loss because it takes away from preparation for next oppt.

    ————————–
YOUR POINT about Tannenbaum is extremely well taken. ONLY ROSS would hire a PROVEN FAILURE LIKE T-BAUM!! Hell, for all we know, Metamucil Carl Peterson is STILL calling the shots from his bed in the retirement center!!!!!!!!–And don’t forget, when Sparano started 0-7, ROSS GAVE TONY A PUBLIC ENDORSEMENT AS “THE RIGHT MAN TO LEAD THIS FRANCHISE!!” – – Clearly, of all Miami’s problems, the BIGGEST PROBLEM IS THE OWNER–STEVE ROSS–who continues to make one horrible decision after the another horrible decision!!
UNTIL ROSS SELLS THE TEAM, we are always going to be the fan victims of his total inablity to make the right choices. What Ross SHOULD DO is a total house cleaning, from T-Baum and Peterson down to the scouting department and the water boy! But, it won’t happen. Driving to work this morning, NFL radio gets a call from a Dolphins fan, which then in turn opens the gates for a deluge of abuse (deservedly!) from Solomon Wilcots and Bob Papa. “Most disappointing loss of the week” “Dolphins look like they gave up after the 1st quarter” “Unprepared” “No life” “No heart” “Offensive line can’t protect or run block”

Time to fucking do something, and I say axe Philbin now, and find someone who can motivate this fucking team! Philbin sucks anyway, so don’t feel so bad. He’s not the guy, fire him, now, let the new coach choose his coordinators, which will undoubtedly NOT be the current ones, and let’s hope we can salvage this season.

    • son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

I would agree with that about most players but Ray is different imo. I think he could thrive as a head coach providing he had the desire to do so. He’s a very astute x’s and o’s man already and he obviously knows the game and the league.

  26. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

As UK mentioned above….the graphic & stat on players on GB’s roster that were rafted by them 35 out of 53 was amazing….talk about building a franchise for the longterm.
It does help that they went from longterm Favre then to Rodgers @ QB.
Miami went from Marino to 17 QB’s before finally getting the goods in Tannehill.

McCarthy is a very solid HC that has went from play calling to now helping the defense side of the ball with Dom Capers & it shows.

I like how McCarthy & Rodgers stick to the run. GB also has 2 FB’s that can play ST’s….so when they need an extra lead blocker or a short yardage guy, or decoy, they have it.
They also have runs plays that if the defense shows a certain look, like an extra man down in the box, then Rodgers can audible to a hot pass.

Also love the way the practice & employ the hard count that worked on getting offsides call against KC at most opportune times….that will slow a pass rush down too.

IT’S A COPY CAT LEAGUE RIGHT?
DIDN’T PHILBIN LEARN ANYTHING @ GB??? SMH!!!

He’s matured some too now. Still young, but he was real young in Denver, which fired his GM & another FO guy the year after got there….so he was kinda hamstrung with the switch over before he could gain much traction.

By my reckoning, we were utterly overrun in the first half and demolished. I have no doubt the Bills took their foot off the gas, played to protect their lead and changed their game plan. I also have no doubt that if they’d want to go back into dominant mode and toss us round like a rag doll, they would have. If we keep playing like that, you’ll see ample evidence from the Fins v Pats match-ups. Patsies don’t take their foot off the gas. They’ll run the score up like they did against Jax – just watch.

    • jetsssuck's avatar jetsssuck says:

rewatch the game. Bills didn’t take their foot off the pedal they actually tried what worked in first half. I believe we had 3 interceptions in the first half, four dropped passes and 2 sacks. We were over come with exotic blitz packages where our OL was confused numerous times. Our OL did do better in second half with these blitzes. 1 bad half is hard to overcome if the score gets out of hand which it did.

The “Ol Alligator Gar”… there’s a name from the past. I don’t remember too much about him, though I think he used to log in with different names.. was he also “Frank Kearse”?

  60. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I can’t believe that no one remembers RayRay and the fish. That’s disappointing. I thought that was one of the funnier episodes to happen on the SS blog. It was one of deceit and discovery, and it was very funny to watch unravel. 🙂

  61. BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

    jetsucks,
I guess we must have been watching a different game. IMO we were out coached in every phase of the game on Sunday.

That was many beers ago my friend….smh

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I don’t know, I remember it like it was yestrday, except for the fact that I can’t remember what type of fish it was. A chinook maybe???

  64. Ken's avatar Ken says:

I am not sure I like Son’s idea of Ray Lewis as a HC for us. I was never a fan of his and I think he literally got away with murder. He was a great player. He did inspire his team mates but he did kill somebody or his boys did with his knowledge.

  65. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I would love to have Harbaugh here, but he wouldn’t leave now. Maybe next season though.

Mike E, I had to step out but I remember Ray Ray (samesong).

I’m serious about Ray Lewis as coach too, I think he’d be awesome.

  69. BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

    Mike and Ken,
Never underestimate the power of a truck load of Money. IF Ross really wanted harbaugh here he could get him. I think the bigger issue is that Ross is also a Michigan alum and wouldn’t want to do that to his alma mater.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

Ross really wanted Harbaugh and would have paid him whatever and he chose to go elsewhere. Harbaugh has no interest in our job other than to use it for leverage.

C’mon Dohmar….Bostic played inside, and both outside spots….he’s very versatile and quick when healthy. Sucks NE got him for a 6th….SMH

  71. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Remember what Marrone did to Buffalo? Not sure any owners would want that guy after what he did.
Jim Schwartz….meh….I thought he sucked, was clueless like Philbin, but was a damn hot head too. Not sure he relates to players well.

Chud would be great to bring back to Miami. He was the primary innovator of the 2 TE system.
He also coached Cam Newton to have a stellar rookie QB campaign.

  72. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Look at what Greg Roman did to our D last week….look how he almost brought his offense back against NE in a high scoring affair.

  73. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Do you specifically remember when NJ busted him? RayRay was saying he was not a poster under a different name, and NJ with the help of someone else, maybe Tim, produced a post from the archives with that other name and the fish in his arms. That was so frigging funny. Do you remember what type of fish it was? 🙂

  77. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

GD, from yesterday. I know most fans don’t like the schemes the coaches are running but we knew what we ran going into the season and most didn’t have an issue with it then other than most of us don’t like the constant shotgun and lack of running the ball. But I’m seeing players not playing well either. It sucks but top to bottom the entire org is in this together and the team is not good right now.

    • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

I had a carryover problem with the constant shotgun & lack of a desire to run the ball coming into this year.
I also had a carryover problem with the Defensive soft zone coverages and lack of good blitz schemes.

      • TryPod's avatar Try Pod says:

Never heard of that brand. was it a over-under or side-by-side? What kinda carryover problems where you having? Do you mean recoil?

    • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

which means its best to get rid of all of them. I wish Ross would put the team up for sale.

A SPECIAL SHOUT-OUT TO MISS GIGI who was perhaps the first to call for Philbin’s head during year #2 of his regime!!

i would have to say nope to that one. after the first year i am positive i said he didnt have it, but what do i know and i would wait. during year two i made up my mind he didnt have it. pretty sure bat was on that same rant too. and i think a few others also. but what does it matter, not like it does any of us any good to say ‘i told you so’

  81. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

As I said yesterday, there are only 4 Dolphins players playing GOOD. The rest are below expectation. But Ryan Tannehill isn’t Miami’s issue.

    Omar Kelly ✔ @OmarKelly
If the Dolphins EVER learn how to protect Ryan Tannehill, and give him a decent running game, the Dolphins MIGHT start winning some games.

  91. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Last season after the death of his father, Philbin missed a week of practice and it was thought he might miss the San Diego game.

Coyle was the coach who was designated as the fill in HC. The Dolphins that week posted a 37-0 win at home over the Chargers. Was this due to Coyle changing the game plan up or an emotional rise in solidarity of the team to show support for Philbin? The Dolphins haven’t looked that prepared or driven since.
