So the 2018 NFL season will be coming to and end next week, and as per usghe, Dolphins will watch other teams in the playoffs. Also as per usghe, we will not be picking top 10. We’re not even good at that! Sometimes if you’re bad, it’s better to be baaaad. Get that top 5 pick, or even #1 pick, and then parlay that into more picks, and really change the roster. No, we’ll pick somewhere in the middle, maybe 15 or 16, or maybe even 18 or so when we beat Buffalo when it doesn’t count next week.
Let’s take a step back. I’m not mad that we lost yesterday, our playoff chances were slim going in, but for a while there, the Colts were losing, so our opportunity was there, but we couldn’t take care of business. It seems like whenever the stakes are high, and the playoffs are on the line, we manage to show our worst. Ryan Tannehill is a big part of that. He’s not, I repeat, NOT the guy that will lift your team. I watch a lot of games around the NFL, and the best QB’s take chances. They don’t always work out, but guys like Brees, Roethlisberger, Wilson etc. when the game is on the line, throw a 30 yard pass on 2nd and 8. They throw a 30 yard pass on 3rd and 10, in fact, they always look to get the ball downfield for a big play. That’s the last place Tannehill looks. He’s a warrior, but he’s gutless in his decision making. He’s not a guy that wants to get the kill, he’s a workaday bee. He’s more than happy to just do his job, but he’s not wired to kill.
There are rumblings for a big front office shakeup in Miami. If so, that would probably signal the end for Mike Tannenbaum ( Executive VP of Football Operations) and Chris Grier (GM). Which direction we would go from this I don’t know, but I’d hope we find a guy with experience that can build the team from the ground up. No quick fix plan, but build the team in the image of what he feels is successful, and sustainable in the current and future state of the NFL. Identify a HC, and mutually agree with that HC on the coordinators, and then build the team. If it takes 2 or 3 years, fine. Don’t cut corners to try and win now, no foolish FA spending. If we take our lumps for a year or two, so be it. Just build it right. The best teams do, and repeatedly are contenders.
If we don’t fire any executives and and don’t bring a new FO, I’d hope that Adam Gase is truly on the hot seat. I can’t be sure he’s not the one, but it’s becoming clearer to me that he might not be. For all of his offensive knowledge and potential, our offense is in the bottom 5. It’s understood we lost players to injury, yet there are players on the roster that are here that I feel are underused. Kenyan Drake had 10 total touches Sunday. He’s you’re home run hitter, the big playmaker. C’mon, it’s not like he’s Tavon Austin and we’re afraid he can’t touch the ball too many times, Drake is 6’1 212. Frank Gore is out for the season, and Drake gets 10 total touches. What’s the problem? Where’s the disconnect?
Forget about the defense, Gase has no part of that, and it’s obvious, because Matt Burke still has a job. Oh BTW, our defense is also in the bottom 5. Yeah, we lost some personnel there too, but it’s more than that, a lot more than that. We don’t make adjustments on either side of the ball, just keep going with what we’ve got. What we got ain’t working all too often, so . . . At the very least, if Gase is still here next season, he has to do 2 things. Fire both coordinators, find a legit OC who can call the plays so Gase doesn’t have to sit on the bench during the damn game doodling by himself. Find a legit DC who has been proven elsewhere, and will straighten out and identify our issues, and fix them. That might even be enough to save his job for the future.
I think we MUST draft a QB next season, and not just pick one in RD 5-7 to say we took a QB. It’s possible the best QB for us might be in RD 5, but then I want that guy competing to start from the get-go, and not sitting on the bench because Gase loves Ryan Tannehill. If Tannehill is still here next season, his reign is over. He is on notice, and any real competitors should have a fair shot to unseat him. If somehow he comes out on top, as soon as he falters, the next man up if ready should be given his shot. We’ve seen this show far too many times, It always ends the same. Ryan Tannehill has never played in a playoff game, and he probably never will. Nuff said!
I wish I had a brighter outlook for all of you, I think we all could use a little Dolphins cheer, but we’re going to have to wait and see how things shake out.
Happy Holidays to all of you!
Enjoy!

If we’re blowing it up just do it and forget the high priced vet contracts. Go young and add when the time is right.
I can agree with that. That just means we have to draft A RT somewhere relatively early.
I agree. None of those offensive linemen look like they’re worth it.
Going backwards, we selected at #13
2016 – OT Laremy Tunsil
1981 – RB David Overstreet
1977 – LB A.J. Duhe
Not that I know anything about the draft, or evaluating players or any of that, this is just what I see. I think we have as much a shot at getting a good QB in round 2 or 3 as we would in round 1 or whatever. Pretty much seems it’s luck of the draw on how these guys are going to do professionally. That or you need to be able to evaluate them better. If you look back on QBs taken in the first round and how they’ve done…it’s a roll of the dice. Even the sure things aren’t a guarantee for success or the Colts would have won a few Super Bowls with Luck by now.
I dunno there are definitely higher percentages when drafting a QB in the first. Went is a first round guy. Goff is. Brees pretty much was being the first pick in the second and what pushed him down was his size. Russell Wilson like would have been if it hadn’t been for his size. I think early second can still yiekd a long term starter but it really starts to fall off fast after that and the elite QBs start to be the exception not the rule after early second. There are a lot less failures out of the first rounders too but when they do fair it makes a lot of headlines. You go big or you sit back and watch year after year of missing pass you by and just delay the need to go big by another year. I would rather us go big or just fucking quit trying and take whatever we get from that position and accept mediocrity. If we want to be 8-8 every year just keep doing what we ate doing., But don’t you want more…. I do
Do you type with chopsticks? LOL
I think there needs to be a mentality that he’s your guy no matter what. When the Seahawks took Wilson they knew he was their guy. Didn’t matter the round. They were committed to him. If you do that I think a guy taken in the 2nd or 3rd can be a starter for your team. As long as you treat him like the starter and you have the conviction you need.
But, if you take a guy in the 3rd and you have doubts those doubts will show and his confidence isn’t going to be the same.
Lou, and by him being their guy, it’s they evaluated him based on what they thought he could do. They didn’t reach for him to take him in the first round or dismiss him because there were these other players who were theoretically better based on all the expert draft charts. And there might have been some luck involved.
Barry Jackson @flashsportsbuzz 2m
Adam Gase has been fired. Owner Stephen Ross is courting assistant linebackers coach Corny McGoo from Hasenpfeffer State to be the Miami Dolphins next Head Coach.
Yes!!! He was on my list
I thought Corny McGoo was one of David’s alias’?
LMAO!!!!
Lou,
Seattle picked 4 guys before they picked Wilson. That lends more to the theory of piling on picks so that you hope some work out instead of, “Hes our dude!” So does them paying Matt Flynn $20 million and already having Tavaris Jackson as their starter the year before. In reality, Seattle was just throwing shit at the wall and hoping something would stick.
^
On a bright note the last time we found ourselves in this QB boat Herds hero fell to us
That was a fun season !
Tom Brady drafted in the 6th round in 2000 wasn’t “the guy” yet. He became that. UDFA Kurt Warner wasn’t “the guy” either in STL in 1999 but Trent Green going down in the preseason opened that door. You never know.
As a so-called Tanny Lover lol, I will say this… todays game was more of that same inconsistency that everyone is talking about. He doesn’t elevate his team. He’s part of what this team is, mediocre. Is that okay? LOL
we have to pay tannehill 13 million to NOT play for us next year, SMH, he really screwed this team royally,
hope the grossly overpaid loser hits the road and no one wants him
he never learned how to play QB, his pocket presence and ability to read defense never improved in 7 years. watching him today, he looks like a pitiful WR too, he just cant play any position here effectively
watching ravens browns highlights wow Lamar Jackson looks great too bad we never,,, , well never mind, lmao, we know the rest
but many in here thought Jackson wouldnt be good in the NFL,
i wonder why when he won heismann and looks spectacular at nfl level too, guess not everyone can be a armchair GM
👌 what the fuck are you talking about ?
btw Mayfield tied the rookie td record with a long bomb td to Landry, many said he couldnt go deep, when he clearly has done so this year many times,
i always argued correctly he could indeed go deep, we just chose not to ask him to do it. i hope herd enjoys my landry comments, lol
just for her
for those playing the market, asian futures up now,
Monday should be good for wall street too
long term holds are Disney, Nike, Intel, and GM.
radioactive pennystocks include AKER, AWSM, ABIL, MARA , ANY, QTM and VTVT
the pennystocks should rise somewhere between 50 and 400 percent next week
USA futures went up Sunday too
SMH….I don’t know where to begin so I won’t bother.
futures werent up? or did Landry drop the Mayfield pass lol
both are easily googled facts brah
im correct, there isnt really anything to debate except why the hell you cant enjoy new years without attacking the messenger for factual and easily checked comments’
thats kinda trollish dont ya think? i wouldnt do that to You, but i will enjoy nye anyway, you dont get to piss on that parade
WTF are you talking about? World doesn’t revolve around you “brah”. My comment unaddressed to you on a Dolphins site was about the team. If I have a comment to you specifically it will have your name or be in a reply. Come on…..I was catching up and thinking about the direction of the team. But it can now be about you if you wish.
well excuse Me for misinterpreting that,
i may be a little sensitive sense today becayse there were many other unprovoked , childish, stupid, and control freak attacks on Me today. but
I always trust Your word tho,You are a good man, and I apologize for thinking, geez, i didnt want any more ball bustings today because i liked Landry
i do wish the crying like a damn baby attacks against posters with irrelevant troll comments would stop, so i dont misinterpret Your comments among the others
but i can only call bullshit when i see it, i cant make people say or not say shit, and have control freaks who tell me what to say, but dont want to hear that back
some people need to grow up, and accept the fact we suck from past mistakes, recognize and learn from them, and find ways to improve
good night !
i dont let personal and baseless attacks bother me for long, the ones attacking should bothered,
im just talking football, and slipped iN a little stocks report, lol BUT i do think its possible some people might have discounted Jackson and obviously blew it.
happy new years to the miserable curmudgeons, may they find peace in their hearts like others have, im out and happy NY to everyone
Happy New York to you too!!
I’m not going to poo poo the idea of Rex Ryan in Miami. Sorry, but he’s an experienced head coach and, unlike the one we have now, his players love to play for him.
He solves the issue on the defensive side. You know there will be a significant difference in the way the D plays and he’ll get the best out of our young LB’s and guys like Jones and Minkah.
If he can find himself a good OC the team will definitely improve over what we’ve seen to this point.
So, I’m not against seeing him in Miami. There’s plenty of talent at the skill positions on the offensive side to work with. Need some o-line help and a qb. He’ll need to re-work the d-line as well but I think he can work with what he’s got to a certain extent.
It’s worth a shot IMO.
Dolphins 2019 schedule opponents:
Home: Patriots, Jets, Bills, Bengals, Ravens, Eagles, Washington, Chargers
Road: Patriots, Jets, Bills, Steelers, Browns, Cowboys, Giants, Colts
i believe there’s a very private rift between Gase and Tannenbaum. it’s been reported that “Those who make up the power triumvirate do not all see eye-to-eye”,
that would be Gase Grier & Tannenbaum…so it’s not hard to see where that rift may lie.
Gase has the last word on the 53 but Tbaum has the last word on draft picks and FA’s.
or so i’ve read.
if that’s the case i can see where that may lead to an issue.
mediocrity breeds mediocrity
rex ryans reg season record is 61-66,
more of the same mediocrity?
it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Marino took over this team, he sits next to ross in the booth watching the games. you can see Ross bowing down holding his head in disgust at the jags game, marino on one side and tannenbaum on the other, tbaum has the expression of a kid in the principles office
Marino says he is happy with his adviser role, and he is Miamis biggest fan.
who knows the future, but hes content for the moment, or so it appears on the surface
If Ryan is a possible candidate, does that mean T-baum is staying?
And he’s out
Bye Gase
Where’ did you see that?
NFL network
Never mind, went to twitter, it’s all over there. Thanks
I would take Rex as a DC, but his act gets old fast as a HC. Hi style does not lend itself to longevity. It’s also possible he’s learned from what happened, and has changed, so there’s that. I agree with Lou that his players played hard for him, but then there was a tipping point, and he lost them.
Marvin Lewis out
Gase fired
Gase definitely wore out his welcome here. He wasn’t getting it done, and it seemed like there was a disconnect with the players, which usually means it’s over.
Rex and Tannenbaum reunited?
Poor us…
I thought Tannenbaum was out too, or at least moved to a different capacity.
Gase before Tbomb ? What’s going on ?
Maybe Jim Harbaugh really is leaving Michigan. I wonder . . .
Well here we go with a new coach again
When does Tannehill get fired?
As soon as the new HC gets here?
I hope so
Me too, I don’t know if I can stomach anymore
8 coaching vacancies at the moment
We’re probably somewhere around the 5-8 best opportunity at the moment. Jets, Cards, Packers, Bucs are all better opportunities than the Dolphins. We have little cap space, no QB, no defense. Nice weather and no state income tax is what we have to sell
Oh, Browns may be #1
Okay so word is Harbaugh did not sign his extension
If Ross went all in for him what would it cost vs what’s too much cost ?
It’s going to cost valuable time especially if they go on a run. Better be sure because 8 teams are looking.
Can’t trade for a HC. I know we did it with Shula, but trading picks makes no sense to me.
Mike Mayock to be GM in Oakland
Who’s going to commentate on the draft on NFLN? OMG!
Gase, he’s available
dcoral – The other question is, if it took say 2 first RD picks to bring John Harbaugh here, why would Harbaugh want to come here and leave the Ravens?
You know it’s bad when Dolphins fans start thinking “hmm, maybe Rex Ryan isn’t such a bad idea”. Have we really sunk so low?
I would love to get Harbaugh, but giving up picks sets you back right away. Of course with a full rebuild we’re looking at a couple of years anyway. Mcarthy is still out there…
pleeeeeese not Rex Ryan … he begged in futility
How is Tannenbaum not fired already?
I saw something where they move him to a different position, one where he has no say in personnel.
Cav Kong, I’m guilty of that. I really don’t like him at all, then I started thinking, but if we were winning….. it’s like making a deal with the devil.
* Hanging my head in shame *
Et tu, Brute? 😉

dcoral – The other question is, if it took say 2 first RD picks to bring John Harbaugh here, why would Harbaugh want to come here and leave the Ravens
Why would anybody want Harbaugh to come here what has he done lately?
Grier to be full GM
Tbomb reassigned no control over football ops
New coach reports to grier
I’m down with that
If it was me, I would’ve fired Andy Cohen.
It’s his wishy washy post game in the AM columns that doomed the Dolphins.
It was the long snapper !!
Well, be careful what you wish for they say. Dear God do not let them hire fat ass foot fetish fuck
I agree.
I actually thothink got Gase was the worst problem with the Dolphins
Worse than The QB play
Worse than the pErsonnel
Worse than the FO too
I’m so glad he’s gone
Nothing was worse than the QB play but I get what you’re saying
Based on my extremely limited knowledge of the situation, I would not have minded them keeping him if he gave up control of play calling. But I’m not shedding any tears that he’s gone, either.
Why the heck is GB asking to interview Josh McDaniels. First the guy was a disaster in Denver. Ok, maybe he learned something. But after the way he screwed Indy last year, he should never get another shot at being a HC. smh
If you achieve anything in nfl coaching before you are 40 you get about a dozen 2nd chances to prove yourself
totally agree,
I doubt he has the brains to be a HC.
I think I agree Pig with your post above.
For one thing, it’s like Gase never even glanced at the defensive side of the ball.
After Josh Allen ran all over us in Miami, what plan did they come up with?
zip
For another, Gase never had a viable offensive game plan either. His solution to under-utilizing Stills was him throwing to Tannehill? Jeez that is so high school.
under utilized Drake, trusted a rookie Ballage to be trigger man on gadget wildcat plays,
never tried to give Tannehill some hot reads to negate the all-out pass rush, failed miserably on 3rd downs with play calls that made fans groan pre-snap, and had no plays that worked in the red zone.
How many rushing TDs did Hall of Famer Gore get?
Gase never developed Gesicki … Look at what shitty SF did with Kittle.
Rock, quit beating around the bush and just tell us how you feel. LOL
Andy Cohen writes puff pieces. He never criticizes, it’s not usually worth reading when things are bad.
official announcement:
https://www.miamidolphins.com/news/miami-dolphins-announce-general-manager-chris-grier-to-oversee-football-operatio
now we can get excited about 2019
Stop talking about Rex Ryan guys.
I want to eat today
It looks like both harbaugh bros are in play
I would take either
One comes w/o any draft pick compensation, so it’s an easy choice for me

Would be cool to steal another coach from Baltimore
also this improvement:
https://www.miamidolphins.com/news/kimberly-rometo-named-vice-president-chief-information-officer
So, not quite a complete blow up. Grier will be VP and be a “true” GM. I like that part at least. Grier has been at it a good amount of time even though he is young. Tannenbaum gets shuffled to somewhere under Grier, hopefully with duck tape somewhere handy. Gase is gone. Burke is gone. MAYBE Grier give Rizzi a shot? He was the only coach I still respected at the end.
WHOMEVER they pick that coach better be able to identify and obtain good teachers as his position coaches. How many O-line coaches have failed here? Some will say well, it was the players or injuries. I say it was bad coaching, inconsistent coaching. how may “gurus” have we hired and failed besides the coke head?
I hate pointing to NE and saying “look” but they won the superbowl a few years ago with two guards that were late round guys if they were drafted at all.
Let’s hope they make the right decisions this time…..
Depending on the schemes the new coaches run we may need to dump some of our young “upcoming” guys along with the under-performing guys.
But maybe not. It will be up to Grier now what type of coaches and what type of schemes we run. Does he stay with zone blocking schemes on the O line and a 4-3 or does he hire guys that run other systems?
What ever he chooses I hope he chooses right..
So, I kind of got what I wanted….I DIDN’T WANT THIS….wahhhhhhhhh. I WANTED it to work this past time. Sigh.
I just don’t want to hear you guys on here talking about bringing old guys back out of retirement. That is the worst thing that could happen. They are RETIRED. Bring in a young (ish) guy, even if they have failed as HC in he past, if it is your opinion that they failed because of other reasons (no players, bad GM, what ever) Belicheat was a 36-44 coach at Cleveland.
I was tempted to make that point yesterday about coaches who’ve been fired in the past going on to another team but he cheats too so it wasn’t a good comparison.
LOL There have been others, but for the most part retreads have been that. Retreads. Andy Reid has won a shit load of games in the AFC (65-31) but Lost to Indy, Lost to NE, lost to Pittsburgh, lost to Tenn in the wild card or divisional rounds. He is more than 2-1 but has nothing to show for it.
I want Jim Harbaugh. I want a HC that froths from the mouth more than I do during a game.
Rizzi froths at the mouth a lot and has a relationship with the new GM who is home brewed and doesn’t have many professional relationships outside of Miami.
https://twitter.com/ckparrot/status/1079762763625328641
Can’t blame Drake – Gase really screwed the pooch with Drake. Good thing for us going forward, Drake will have very fresh legs for us. lol
So, Grier becomes the VP of all things Dolphins and is pretty much an internally groomed guy. He worked for NE for a while in a scouting capacity before coming to Miami and moving up through the ranks here until he got the top job…He has been here his whole career. Some would say a big part of the problem for his whole career.
How will it turn out?
Gase seemed to be a smart-ass with the players … not a true players’ coach … more like a prankster … and he never addressed scheme fails … should have fired Burke that week that Burke was focused on World Series while we lost a football game because of no defensive game plan.
NOBODY BETTER SUGGEST COWHER!
Now I want to just to see what you’d do. 😂
Ha! what can I really do but write all in caps? Uh Oh Rock is writing all in caps again! we better keep our heads down. I don’t even stoop to name calling. Well except for the douche who deserves it.
I agree Rock.
Let’s look at rock solid OC or DC guys.
Who is the Rams OC?
Who is the Chiefs OC?
Who is the Ravens DC?
the Bears DC?
They are the top ranked in the NFL.
seen people put out a couple of lists of potential HC’s already this week and I do not see Rizzi on there. I think that is a mistake.
Geez if you are an HC who can’t make Gore and Wake happy, you should give it up.
They are two of the most highly intrinsically motivated vets in the NFL.
^
Is this enough of a blow up for everyone?
meh, I wanted more splatter
What I wanted was a GM that could build a team. Maybe Grier is that guy. Question is, do they let him? I want a GM to pick a HC, and then both the GM and HC choose the coaching staff. Both guys are on the same page, or very close to it, nothing wrong with slightly different opinions for balance, but both guys basically have the same vision of what they want. Is Ross going to let Grier choose the HC, or is he going to do that himself?
I read a quote from Ross saying he is going to allow Grier full control. Everyone will report to him. No one will report to Ross except Grier
Naples, don’t overlook ST coaches. They have to deal with the entire roster. Offense and Defense. I think Harbaugh was a ST coach before he was a HC.
Naples, also, you gotta be careful about the coordinators that “lead the league”. Cam Cameron’s offense was one of the most prolific before they brought him here as HC…..
Whoever interviewed Cam Cameron and missed out on the wuss factor should take the blame for that one.
He has had great x’s and o’s since us and failed there too. He just can’t lead grown men into battle.
What about a Chargers or Seahawks co-ordinator? They know how to do incremental rebuilds. We have some talent on both sides of the ball. We don’t need to lose Howard and Drake.
Anybody look ready from the Steelers or Saints?
Is it time to bring back Dan Campbell? Is he readier now?
Naples – I think McVay was handling the offense for the Rams.
John Harbaugh is my favorite choice he brings experience and proven leadership the likes of which this team hasn’t seen since Shula and Johnson.
It’s a tricky waiting game but worth it if you get him.
Pete Carmichael is a name I through out years ago that I might still consider.
threw SMH
In Brooklyn it’s trew
OK, got my wish, I guess I should change my Avi again.
good … hell with that layers of bureaucracy crap
Yes! This is what I wanted all along. I didn’t think it would be Grier, but I’m more than fine with that choice. This is the proper way to build a team. Find the GM, he finds the HC and they both find the coaching staff. GM has final say on everything. Hard to get stuff done when there are too many equals making decisions.
I like the fact Ross came put and said basically full rebuild…..no high price vets. I think Grier will get it done.
Rizzi would be a guy I’d definitely interview for HC. Hes consistently had the best unit and nobody dealt with players coming and going more than him. Hes a football guy. But then again i’m a Homer…..
Sonny – Is John Harbaugh under contract for next year, or is he gone if he doesn’t sign the extension? If it’s the latter, it just leaves us without a choice after everyone else is gobbled up, but if he wants to come here, that would be an excellent get.
Good Call Mike e.
“The Los Angeles Rams won’t have an offensive coordinator in 2018 after losing Matt LaFleur to the Titans on Tuesday. Instead, they’ll have two coordinators – one to handle the run game and the other to control the passing attack.
After it was announced LaFleur was leaving for Tennessee, the Rams shared their plan to replace him. Sean McVay has promoted offensive line coach Aaron Kromer to run game coordinator and tight ends coach Shane Waldron to pass game coordinator, effectively making it a two-man job in L.A.”
Unlike the past three seasons, Ross revealed he will have a football executive, not a coach, who will control all football decisions, with general manager Chris Grier promoted to that vice president/football operations position, replacing Mike Tannenbaum, who was demoted to an unspecified role and will have nothing to do with football operations.
That is worth repeating;
“will have nothing to do with football operations.”
HALLAFUCKINGLUYAH!
What about George Stewart for our new HC?
He’s been a successful WR coach and ST coordinator.

In Brooklyn it’s trew
In some parts of the south it’s Frew he frew de ball
LOL
First question I ask prospective HC candidates if i’m Grier is “what’s most important position group?”
If he doesn’t say OL/DL, then I say move on, bro.
QB???
You did say group, so I suppose after QB, those 2.
Let’s not get crazy now. Mr. coach prospect, are you saying it’s OK if I go out and grab Mark Sanchez as our franchise QB as long as I give you a pro-bowl offensive line?
hey if we can’t stop a jail break pass rush and have the last place rush D,
then Aaron Rodgers couldn’t get us to the playoffs.
I’d give Eric Biennemy a look for HC.
Bieniemy
He was a tough ass RB in the league and I do think KC HC is the best O coach out there right now, so his OC had to have learned some good stuff.
Philly wins the SB with a back-up QB but great line play both sides the ball.
Foles is also playing out of his mind. Wentz was not doing what Foles is accomplishing right now. To me, the first thing you have to identify is the QB, then work your way down from the trenches to the skill positions.
Any QB has a chance to play out of his mind with 4-6 seconds to throw the ball.
Besides, we might could get Foles himself into the bargain!!!
Chris Berman was corny, but I always liked when he said Eric “sleeping with” Bieniemy. Thought it was funny
https://www.chargers.com/team/coaches-roster/george-stewart
coached under Holtz, Noll, Walsh, and Seifert. Coached Terrell Owens to 3 pro bowls.
played OL in college
The spit flying GIF of harbaugh is great
Love it
Mike E
I agree with this structure as well
Biggest thing I took from Ross in the presser was him basically saying that he is backing off, all will report to Grier
Believe part of the problem has been to many heads
Hopefully, we finally got this right
So Tbaum is now washing jockstraps?
Gase struck me as a guy who acted like he’d won 5 SBs when he really had done nothing. Instead of figuring out how to work with players….your best players, he just cut them. I said it at the time, no way that goes over good in the locker room.
Agree – He was all smug, without earning smugness
I appreciate guys who are willing to win or lose “his way”
But seems like he just really didn’t understand that part of his job was to work with our talent
I’m sure Gase learned a lot in these years, but for his sake, I hope he learned some humility
Does that mean he doesn’t have to be humble? If he does what he did here somewhere else, he’ll be out on his ass again in a few years.
My top choices for HC are
1. Harbaugh
2. Harbaugh
I don’t care which one
Well there you have it. Gase out, Tannenbaum not involved in personnel and Grier the top personnel and football operations guy. I was just watching on NFLN a discussion about minority coaches and GMs and how it’s been thinning out not growing. So with Grier he kind of sets the example of reaching a high level as someone like Ozzie Newsome steps down. I like Grier, I’m glad he was given this position.
Gase and tannebaum both out is the right move
Ross said he wanted to streamline the Football Operations. Grier is the head honcho of the football team. He’ll choose the head coach and be in charge of all personnel.
There is also this which I’m totally on board with and said it last night.
There will be plenty to talk about this offseason. LOL
I will say. I think folks are overestimating the talent level on this team. It’s not just about poor coaching. Grier has some work to do. Lunch is over. Back to the salt mine.
He did a good job with the bears D this season
Tim – What Ross said he wants is exactly what I outlined in this article. Again, I didn’t expect it would be Grier, but I’m very happy with the approach. Definitely on the right track, just hire the right guys and keep the good stuff coming
Yes and my comment last night at the top of this page turn is right in line with you.
I do get the sense that the team will move on from Tannehill as well.
Yessir
Vic Fangio was DC in SF when Harbaugh was HC. He’s considered one of the best defensive minds in the game. He’s 60 years old but he’s definitely a good candidate.
Just saw a tweet that Pat Mahomes finished with 417 FF points. Easily a record. Crazy!
Here’s a bunch of stuff.

I’ve exceeded my limit on Herald articles, can’t read it. Hate that!
Clear your data – history, cookies etc. That’s what it goes by.
Didn’t the Dolphins just hire Gase’s replacement…..Manny Diaz?
Hurricanes
Then, I’m a dumb ass…..sorry.
LOL, it’s okay man.
Like the changes….but I’ve said that every 3 or 4 years for the last 20 years. LOL.
Fire, rinse, repeat…….oh….and it’s all Ross’s fault.
For an owner, I have to say Ross has tried and is very willing to keep trying to bring back Dolphin greatness. He makes mistakes and then tries to make better decisions. I hope he succeeds this time!
Tim: I glanced through the link. One thing I didn’t know before was this:
‘While Ross and Grier sat at the podium during the Dolphins’ news conference, three people sat in the front row: president Tom Garkinkel, Ross friend and businessman Bruce Beal (who has first right to buy the team if Ross sells or dies) and Dolphins executive Dan Marino.’
Who is Bruce Beal?
He’s in the same business as Ross as a developer in realty etc.
I hope Grier can put this together and the Dolphins make a 5-7 year commitment with the decisions. This roller coaster of a front office has to be a contributor to the mediocrity. Changing philosophies every 3 or 4 years will NEVER move a franchise to greatness. NEVER.
Here’s the Ross and Grier press conference.

Ross and Grier said all the right things. Now let’s see if they can get the job done.
Every regime, every 3-4 years says all the right things…..it’s the getting the job done that’s the issue.
Yep!
