This is just the start, but hey, it’s the start of the 2019 Miami Dolphins season today. Once the pads come on, this is where it finally gets real. Long gone are 3-a-days and in 2011 the collective bargaining eliminated two-a-days as well, so the brutally hard practices of yesteryear are all gone. Still, this is the closest thing to action we got, so enjoy it!
The rookies have been here since Sunday, but tomorrow the entire team, both veterans and rookies will be together as one team. I think quite a few of the rookie class will make the team, which is already a pretty young roster. We lost DT Kendrick Norton in a terrible automobile accident which took his arm and his football career, but Kendrick seems to be doing well and is out of the hospital. The Miami Dolphins have decided to pay Kendrick Norton his entire salary, a nice gesture.
There are some big camp battles, including of course the QB battle between long time vet Ryan Fitzpatrick and newly acquired 2nd year QB Josh Rosen. To me that’s the headliner. Most fans think Fitz will start the season but I believe there is a fair chance if Rosen plays well enough he may earn the job. What happens at DE is big too, because it looks like a very deficient unit at the moment, unless some guys step up and do a LOT more than they have yet in their careers. The number of sacks from the current guys is truly woeful, Tank Carradine in 5 seasons has (5.5) sacks, Nate Orchard in 4 seasons has (5) sacks, Charles Harris in 2 seasons has (3) sacks and Jonathan Woodard in 1 season has (1) sack. That’s 13 sacks combined for 4 players. Obviously in our new hybrid defense we will be rushing the passer with LB’s as well as safeties and corners, and we will need guys like Jerome Baker, Kiko Alonso, Reshad Jones, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Bobby McCain and others to be effective occasionally when they blitz. In addition, I think we can get pressure on the inside with DE/DT’s Vincent Taylor, Davon Godchaux and Christian Wilkins. If not, it’s going to be a long hard season for this defense and we will struggle to get off the field.
We have a lot of DB’s on the roster but it’s imperative that we find an effective player on the opposite side of Xavien Howard. It may be former Patriot Eric Rowe, or maybe one of our own guys step up like Jalen Davis, Cornell Armstrong, Torry McTyer or hopefully Cordrea Tankersley who is currently on the PUP list. CB Jomal Wiltz showed some flash w/o pads, we’ll see how he fares with the pads on. At safety we’re in really good shape with Reshad Jones, Minkah Fitzpatrick, T.J. McDonald, Bobby McCain (who will share slot duties as well with Minkah), and Maurice Smith and ST’s ace Walt Aikens.
On offense, it’s going to be very interesting to see what our identity is on that side of the ball. I think a lot of that will depend on who the QB is. Ryan Fitzpatrick throughout his career has been a gunslinger for better or worse. He plays a wide open type of game and always looks to push the ball downfield, sometimes recklessly so. He’s a gambler. With our offensive line a huge question mark, nothing helps a beleaguered OL better than a consistent run game. It gives them more confidence and wears down the opposing defense. Will Fitz be a game manager? It’s possible, but I’d sooner see a power run game with a play action pass game although I can’t see Fitz reining himself in. Rosen would be the better candidate to operate that type of offense, and any QB would benefit from a strong run game.
Our WR’s corps really is another huge question mark. On paper it looks better than it really is because you never know what you’ll get from Devante Parker, and Albert Wilson is coming back from a season ending hip injury that robbed him of such a promising season. Wilson was nothing short of electric while he was healthy scoring 4 TD’s on only 26 receptions, that’s a TD every 7 catches. Kenny Stills is really the only given, you know he will make some big plays although he’s never been a volume receiver having more than 60 receptions only once, his 2nd year with the Saints and Drew Brees. Regardless, he averages routinely near 15 YPC and he scores TD’s. What about the rest of the WR corps? Jakeem Grant is exciting but so far has been used in small doses. I’m not sure he’ll ever be like a Tyreek Hill although I sure wouldn’t mind if they tried. Brice Butler brings another big bodied receiver and he showed some abilities last year but only had 6 receptions for us. In his 6 years in the NFL, he’s never had more than 20 receptions. We have a few other big receivers in house, Preston Williams, newly acquired WR Saeed Blacknall and Reece Horn. All of them are 6’2 or bigger.
Last season our LB unit really picked up, a lot of that due to the return of Raekwon McMillan’s run stopping prowess and the coverage and tackling ability of rookie OLB Jerome Baker. Baker had an excellent rookie season showing excellent pass coverage skills, and for all intents and purposes, McMillan had an excellent rookie season too (1st year I/R). Kiko thrived last year not being forced to cover quite as much and turned an underrated solid season. Kiko finished with 125 total tackles (79 solo), 3 INT’s3 FF’s, 1 FR and 6 passes defensed. This a strength on our defense, and if we can generate any pass rush at all, this defense will surprise a lot of teams.
The O-line, a perennial worry, once again is exactly that. Starting LT Laremy Tunsil is one of the leagues best, but after that if could potentially fall off a cliff. Will it be Wisconsin rookie Michael Deiter at LG or swing man Chris Reed from JAX? Can Dan Kilgore hold down the C spot and be effective? It seems like Jesse Davis is going to play one of the spots on the right side but it’s yet to be determined whether it’s RG or RT. We acquired RT Jordan Mills from Buffalo, a starter of every game for the last 3 years. He was underwhelming with shorts and t-shirts, but I have a feeling once the pads come on, he’ll look a lot better. While Mills isn’t an elite pass blocker, he’s got experience and shouldn’t be a turnstile. If he does falter, Jesse Davis just might play RT and maybe of Deiter looks adequate, Chris Reed could slide over to RG with Davis playing RT. In any case, a lot has to happen to give me any kind of confidence in this unit going forward.
At RB, Kenyan Drake is primed to have a big season. Whether he’s the big volume guy as far as carries isn’t important, he should be getting more touches. He’s a HR hitter and we simply need to score more points. Scoring less than 20 PPG won’t cut it, and Drake can help with more touches. What will be fun to watch is who, if anyone, is the volume back. Kalen Ballage is back for his 2nd season and he showed some promise last season. We drafted extremely high volume back Myles Gaskin from Washington. Gaskin had nearly 1000 carries there and over 5300 yards. Lots of miles for Myles, but he potentially could get the lion’s shares of the carries. We have a couple of bowling balls on the roster as well in Kenneth Farrow and Mark Walton (who may face disciplinary action from the NFL for an off the field incident). We’ll see if either guy makes the roster.
ST’s was a solid unit all around, from place kicking with Jason Sanders and punting with Matt Haack, (Rock’s beloved) LS John Denney, and the return team of Kenyan Drake, Jakeem Grant and Kalen Ballage. All were better than average last year and hopefully that will either continue or improve.
After taking a look at the entire team, there’s a few good things that stand out, and a few problems that are hopefully fixed. DE and the O-line are the potential weaknesses, while LB, S and DT a strength. RB and WR are wld cards, because you just don’t know what you can get from this group. If Devante Parker ever plays like we thought he could when we drafted him and catches 60-80 balls with a 12+ YPC average and 8-10 TD’s, along with Stills getting his usual 6-10 TD’s, and we have a consistent run game with the trio of Drake, Ballage and Gaskin, we can be a very competitive team. As usual, lot’s of ifs. No pass rush and no DB stepping up to average or better than average opposite X and we will be in trouble. O-line incapable of either generating a consistent run game or protecting the QB and again, trouble. Here’s hoping for the best!
GO DOLPHINS!!!
#staythecourse

Kong – I thought Training Camp started 7/24 (Today) as well. Apparently it’s tomorrow.
Damn! I was looking forward to some flipping Dolphins football news today. Oh well, tomorrow we begin, and the first Dolphins preseason game is just two weeks away!!
Wanna talk soccer?
LOL
OK
Before TC, if you had to predict, who on the roster right now has the best chance at
1) pro-bowl this year
2) a long and very successful year
3) HoF career
5) biggest surprise cut (not making the 53)
I will provide the correct answers at 3PM, so let’s see how many you can get right.
oops
#2 should say a long and very successful career
duh (I really should proofread before hitting send)
LOL @ “I will provide the correct answers at 3PM…”
Is that training camp I see? 🙂

MIke E — you’re getting better and better….. awesome pre-camp overview. And could not agree more that the strength of this team is gonna be the back 7 or 8 on D. And that fits with the mutli-scheming we all think Flores will do. Might be some real interesting alignments.
Thanks!
1. X
2. Rosen
3. Minkah
4. Carradine
4 is hard because he isn’t asking for a guy you know won’t make it he’s asking for someone you expect to make it but gets beat out.
4 is even harder because it’s 5. lol
LMFAO
I’m getting stuck on 4 as well. Especially since I can’t even tell you everyone on the team right now
To answer Naples . . .
1) X
2) Baker
3) Minkah, but he’s going to have to play a lot better than last year for the rest of his career
4) Dwayne Allen
1) Howard
2) Tunsil
3) Minkah
4) Parker
Tunsil is a much better answer than Baker. Not sure why I went with Baker, but I’ll stick with it. This is the new NFL where 2 hand touch is on the horizon.
It’s funny, I almost went Baker, but was trying to come up with something slightly different than you and Son.
Parker as my #4 is a terrible answer, but I just couldn’t come up with a name to fit that one.
Has Tim weighed in with more comments about tits yet?
OK
Before TC, if you had to predict, who on the roster right now has the best chance at
1) pro-bowl this year———Jones
2) a long and very successful year————-Tunsil
3) HoF career——–Howard
5) biggest surprise cut (not making the 53) ————Durham Smythe
Before TC, if you had to predict, who on the roster right now has the best chance at
1) pro-bowl this year———-Howard
2) a long and very successful year—————-Tunsil
3) HoF career—————Howard
5) biggest surprise cut (not making the 53)———Smythe
WTF???????????????
Was one not you?
NO
I posted the first one and it didn’t show-up.
Then I posted the second and it was there??????
Tech problems all the time….right with you on Howard in the Pro Bowl though.
Probably already been acknowledged, but RIP Rutger Hauer.
First in hearing of his passing. Classic bad guy.
Everyone thinks Fitz is a gunslinger, but his stats from last year shows he likes to throw more to the slot receivers and TEs.
I hope he plays the first 3 games, we go 3-0, then when the schedule eases up a little they put in Rosen, and the rest is history.
How do you figure? He threw a lot to Mike Evans, DeSean Jackson. Can you give me an example?
Mike, how would you rate the DL as a unit, assuming a 3-4?
In the 3-4 I think we have have a better chance getting to the passer. Like I said, I think all the DT’s or DE’s can can penetrate, like Wilkins, Taylor and Godchaux, and then we need to get pressure from the outside with either Harris or Baker or both, along with an occasional DB blitzer. In the 4-3, that’s where I think we’ll struggle getting a rush off the edges.
I think we’ll see a lot of mixed fronts, stunts and different blitzers. Not sure we’ll see many traditional fronts.
The little bit that I expect us to be in 3-4, we should have 2 of these 3 playing DE, Harris, Wilkins and Caradine. I expect that group to be fine, not great, but hold their own.
The only hole I see on D right now is CB opposite X.
On O, if Deiter mans a guard spot and plays well we may be Ok, but I’ve thought the same thing for years preseason (the OL is going to be Ok), so I’m not going to predict anything else on the OL.
Kong,
I have 342.00 into my new driver, Cobra f-9 9 degree stiff,
i have $$60 each in my 3 and 5 wood roger maltby, i built them, bought the heads new for $40 each, blue UST shafts for 20 each, grips $5 each,
about 300.00 in my sand wedge thru 4 iron, i bought the KZG blades online for $180 new. Bought the new Rifle shafts for about $100. + grips.
I built my irons, i frequency analyzed them so all the flexes are exactly the same, I have a machine that counts CPM’s (cycles per minute) each club is 10 CPMs difference, so i set them all exactly 10 cpms apart to get the exact same flex for each club, i do this by tip trimming.
I have a club bender
i bent them all about 1 degree upright, i figure out my lie angle with an impact board and tape. I bend the 7 iron to where i think i need to, when i hit the board the sole of my club hits it perfectly as it leaves a mark on the tape if i have it bent right, then i take the standard lie angle bend of the 7 iron calculate the difference to the new lie angle and make all the bends the same difference from standard with respect to the iron i’m bending.
i tweaked the lofts stronger.
I also swing weight them exactly the same to a D-6..
these irons are japanese made, they are blades and cut thru the rough like butter. they are very precise as each club has the exact same specifications.
you can’t buy clubs this way, even if you get fitted they will not be made this way, the only way to get clubs this way is to have a club builder do it for you.
$100 in my titleist 60 degree wedge
I swing 9 different irons with the same exact characteristics
putter taylor made copper spider $350
ORob — bought my set of used clubs for $185. Guess you have the super car set and me the Fiesta.
i have 4 sets of irons, i’m getting ready to put 3 of them on ebay as i will never use them
Wow, that is quite the set up.
Note to self – do not play golf for money with Rob.
yes son i’m a 24 handicapper, does that mean we play straight up?
Whoopst! There goes T.J.!
Well he didn’t last long.
What does the “the active/physically unable to perform list” actually mean? Is he gone?
It means he gets a discount on Viagra.
Stanger, this time of year “the active/physically unable to perform list” usually means a guy has some sort of injury and can’t practice so it allows the team to add another body in TC until he’s ready to return. Could be a hamstring or something like that.
Sounds like Mando thinks it more interesting than you and I at least suspected was.
Same thing here.
So the Q on TJ is why? Maybe he had surgery we haven’t heard about.
Like I said earlier, could be something minor but he didn’t pass his physical to practice. Could have been a training injury. Stills and a few other guys missed a lot of time during OTAs and minicamp due to minor injuries. But TC has different rules because now they’re in pads.
Stanger – At this point the PUP list doesn’t mean a whole lot, they can come off it any time they’re healthy, it just keeps them on the roster.
Sounds good. I like TJ. Thinking he will fit in with the new “who knows what they do” scheme as well.
Hey Mike, would be nice if Canó would spread them out a little bit but I guess we’ll take it. LOL
He’s probably back on the juice! lol
LOL
Nice job Mike. I too was hoping for news today…well better news than TJ on pup anyways … Go Phins
Anyone see that the packer cut Mike Daniels? That would be a solid DL pickup if the price is right
Oh and to pick up where I left off about equal pay. Tims response was in line with my thinking. Also it doesn’t matter what the men’s draw vs the women’s draw is because it’s in a completely different league from one another and not comparable. The competition level is higher in the men’s league. There is more money brought in by the men’s league. It’s a scale issue and the women’s team is in a different scale than the men’s.
I agree the women’s team should be paid at the top of the women’s league scale. They have dominated it since it’s existence. The argument though that is not fair that they aren’t paid like the men isn’t one that can be made though because they aren’t in the same league.
I would never be for inequality in pay, I don’t care if you are black women gay or whatever. You should be paid for the quality of your work and how well you meet or exceed the expectation of your title. This however isn’t that argument and they are trying to make it fit. They should simply demand better pay if they feel they should be paid more. The equality argument is counter productive in this case to getting what they want. I’d surely pay them more just not to lose a great player.
Oh shit rutger hauer died? That sucks I was just talking about him today. His 80s suspense movies were awesome.
1) Tunsil
2) Tunsil
3) Tunsil
4) I really don’t expect a surprise cut.
The respective leagues do not dictate team pay. Each country sets their own rules and agreements in that regard. The Netherlands now pays their teams equally. It’s still early days since they reached that agreement with their teams, but it doesn’t look like their economy has tanked, lol. I would bet you’ll see a few other countries addressing this issue soon as well.
Yes, the men’s soccer league brings in far more globally than the women’s ever will. I honestly don’t understand why that means the US Federation should get to take a higher percentage of the women’s earnings. The US Federation is entitled to more of the women’s earnings because the men’s team helps earn more for the rest of the world? What does the global payout to all the other countries have to do with the US teams’ actual earnings and what the US Federation pays them?
The US Soccer Federation brought in 49.9 million over the last 3 years from the Men’s team, they made 50.8 million over the last 3 years from the Women’s team. Does the men facing a ‘higher competition level’ make their 49.9 million spend more than the women’s 50.8? Is there a multiplier for strength of man schedule that turns that 49.9 into 100? lol
Which commodity brought in more money? Which commodity has been more valuable the last 3 years and has been trending step for step with the men?
If you think the men should be paid a higher percentage because they can potentially generate more, well maybe that is exactly what this fight is about. Maybe it should be based on what each team actually earns.
I don’t think the women should get ‘the same pay’ as the men. I think the ‘percentage’ of money each team gets paid that is based on revenue brought in should be in the same ballpark, not vastly disparate. The men, having a much bigger pot to draw from, will often make more since they have more opportunity. When that happens they bring in more money to the Federation, and earn more. When the women have some amazing runs coupled with the men having some down years, and they bring in more than the men, then they get paid their fair share too. What the rest of the world earns shouldn’t be a factor at all.
Honestly though, what we’re doing here is really debating base concepts rather than all the actual factors that will make up this discussion in the courts or wherever as it plays out in real life, lol. It’s not as simple as any of us are making it. There are numerous other elements that complicate the matter, such as CBAs, pay structure, benefits, bonuses, games played, relative marketing, etc.
To me the debate we’re really having on this board boils down to whether you believe the US Soccer Federation should have the right to take a higher percentage of the women’s earnings or you think the respective ratios should be more equal.
And this is indubitably, definitely, positively, absolutely, unequivocally, categorically, assuredly, emphatically my last post on the subject. Kong must ignore the bait. Training camp in less than 12 hours!
I think everyone on the US Women’s Soccer team should get paid more, except I think Rapinoe should get paid less because I don’t like her.
D – Mike Daniels would be expensive and he’s 29.. I like the way we’re building our D-line, and you know if Taylor, Godchaux and Wilkins play well, we’re going to have pay them at some point. Keep building with young guys, I like the way we’re doing it.
He’s actually 30, looking for at least $10M per, probably more
I used to really like Hurns. He and Allen Robinson were quite the duo.
per my hopelessly botched poll attempt far above,
#4 was supposed to be “who will be a surprise that is kept on the 53”
and then #5 was who will be a surprise cut.
Naples – 3PM came and went . . . . No answers! You’re a tease!
But never mind.
I think the answers you guys put were superior to the questionaire.
I got into this because I was reading how our roster is the worst of any in the league.
X, Tunsil, and maybe Grant as a returner are the only guys I see with a chance to be in this year’s pro-bowl.
And those first 2 and Minkah are the only ones with a chance at the HoF. A slim chance.
And Wilkins if he lives up to it.
And those same 4 guys plus Raekwon have a chance at a long and successful career. Maybe Stills.
Reshad should be in there as he has already done it, but how much does he have left in the tank?
Fitz doesn’t count. Journeymen don’t count.
So this would prove what the detractors say about us.
candidates for surprise to make it include Adolphuis Washington, Orchard, Eguavoen, LS Farnsworth, NT Mbu, WR Preston Williams, and OG Calhoun.
and surprise cuts include Aikens, Denny, Spence, Smythe, Stills, Kilgore, Gaskins, RT Prince, and Jakeem Grant.
Aikens is a ST ace, Denny would truly be a shocker, he’s a pro’s pro, Spence is possible but a reliable vet in the rotation. Stills just can’t happen, as sad it is, there’s no one more consistent in that WR corps. Kilgore is possible, but only if Reed is the starter and Kilgore his waived/injured. Prince most likely won’t make the roster but will be a PS guy and Grant isn’t happening either.
Aikens has been on the cusp for years. He has some bad tape at DB and no natural position. He’s a leftover from Philbin.
Denny is just one hamstring or achilles away from end of career. His downfield work was less last year for the first time. The new kid is the first realistic replacement we’ve had in here.
Spence got some kind words from Flores on work ethic, so i should take him off the list, but he is a bad combo of redundant, not a perfect scheme fit, and in the way of PT for Wilkins.
If Reed, Anderson, Dunn, Prince, and Calhoun all look as good as Kilgore, they’ll go with youth.
Grant is redundant to Wilson, he’s tiny, he’s thus prone to injury, and he’s leaky at PR.
Stills is in a batch with Reshad as being a bit jaded to buy into the rah rah culture change thing, and he’d be most hurt by a resurgence of DeVante or even a preference by Fitz for DeVante.
WooHoo!!! Training camp! Let the battles begin!
Kalen Ballage gets the first snap of TC and Armando is already saying “What does this mean for Kenyan Drake?” LOL
LOL, obviously Drake’s career is over.
Drake’s career is not over, but it is significant that Ballage got the nod. It could be Flores being motivational for both guys, or it could be to get better tape on Ballage, but it could very well be bad for Kenyan. Flores’s comments on Drake were complimentary, but he only said how athletic he is, not how he’s the starter.
Naples — guess “a chance at a long and successful career” depends on how you judge that. I’d say a big if not top news of the day 2nd contract qualifies as that in today’s NFL. Lots of guys have a chance at that.
Stanger thanks for playing along with me earlier on my hard to answer poll questions.
I am one who does not think we have that many sure fire guys on the team. Maybe I just think the NFL is not like that so much anymore.
Take Jerome Baker for instance. He is light and could be a 3-4 yr and out guy.
Naples – It’s not important whether Drake is the starter. I just want him to get about 20 touches a game, both rushing and receiving combined.
I agree,
even going back to Alabama he’s always been that “6th man” guy off the bench who comes in and makes immediate impact. He seems to not need much of a warm-up and does not need to be in the flow to still contribute, like say a Gore or Ajayi type runner who needs to wear down the defense as the game goes on.
Drake is dynamite waiting to explode, never thought he would be a feature back though. And that is not how the NFL works these days with a few exceptions anyhow. He’s perfect for a tandem system and we have two (maybe 3) good options to be the other part of that.
wow
I am really optimistic for this player.
btw on my list of surprise cuts above …
I don’t WANT any of those guys to get cut.
I like all those guys a lot.
And it would be a huge surprise if they did get cut.
That was the category of the question.
Wilkins intends to be a great player. That matters.
Glad to see Wilkins lives up to the hype. Wouldn’t be surprised if Minkah was there too. Both have some Zach in them.
lmao
but that is what you want from a FB
30 inch+ thighs
and that insane glint in the eyes
Naples – Exactly – He’s always been a complimentary player. No one makes little of Alvin Kamara who was behind Mark Ingram and now Jordan Howard. As soon Ingram went out and Kamara got a heavier workload, they really cut his workload significantly when Ingram got back. Drake is not a guy that wears down a defense, that’s for Ballage and Gaskin and maybe one of the other guys if they stick (Walton or Farrow). That doesn’t make Kamara or Drake any less valuable
well said
even the best “workhorses” wear out too fast.
Watch for ingram to fade out of the league in 2-3 years.
btw
whoever threw that ball to Gesicki above made a very nice touch pass in a place only the offensive guy could get to.
also
that was Bobby McCain on defense, and even though it’s not football yet, that is significant because he is a bona fide NFL starter, not some camp body DB who got pranked.
Did you catch Gesicki give the DB a bit of a push off a la Gronk? I don’t think that would’ve drawn a flag, but even so, it’s worth the risk if the reward is a certain TD.
LOL @ battle nowhere near decided yet. Ya think? Day 1 of TC, it’s funny the things people say . . .
Let’s go Rosen! It would be great if he can make it a tough choice for the coaches. If it’s a tough choice, it should be an easy choice, lol.
Kong I hope ya don’t think I’m baiting you with the argument I’m just stating my opinion on it. You do have a point in not debating that and maybe I’m just not knowledgeable about the details of how they are paid. I’d be ok and think it was fair if the women were paid more than the men if the basing of that difference were that the pay was determined off of an equivalent scale. Also my last point in this argument but I do want you to know I wasn’t trolling you I was just debating with you
No worries! I apologize my comment came across that way. I didn’t mean to imply I thought you were trolling or intentionally baiting me. I know you were just stating your own opinion on the matter.
I enjoy intelligent debate, which you always bring, and the baiting comment was more that you were willing to continue the discussion and I was compelled by my nature to respond even though I had said I was done. Basically a self-commentary on my own inability to just let something flipping go and not stubbornly need to get the last word in, lol.
Cheers, Bro!
And honestly, with as much baiting as I do at times, turn about is fair play anyway, LOL.
My wife is pretty f-ing cool. She knows that John Cusack was my serious mancrush in my youth… like Tiffany, Brittany or Insync for the girls. She just told me going to a special screening of Say Anything tmrw with him there and doing a Q&A before. Wish was Grosse Point Blank, but who am I to complain? Gonna try my best not to throw my panties at him. 🙂
WTF, is this a coming out party or did you do that years ago at the first feast 🤔
Nah — first Fest was Omar’s time to shine. This one all me. 🙂
Grosse Point Blank – highly underrated movie IMO.
It’s brilliant. Better Off Dead is one thing, but that was him…. his project.
You can never go home again…but I guess you can still shop there.
LOL
And what am I going to say? “I killed the president of Paraguay with a fork. How have you been?”
So many good quotes. I’m throwing that movie on this weekend. Thanks for bringing it up, Stang!
A certain moral flexibility.
i think it will be very apparent at the start of the first pre season game who will be the starter at QB barring injury, that will be the guy who starts the first pre season game.
Stanger – That sounds like fun man – Enjoy it!
I’m loving he will be there, but also worried why he is doing it. Guessing he did a Nicholas Cage with his money.
LOL @ the bubble screen comment.
Hallelujah! If I never see another effing bubble screen from a Dolphins offense, I’ll be completely ok with that.
Hey Cav
i just scrolled up and counted 4 straight times you had the last word.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that,
jus sayin
including one time you last-worded yourself.
(I thought I was the only one who does that.)
LMAO, well played.
Love Grosse Point Blank. Like Cusack the actor, can’t stand Cusack the person and activist.
He’s the classic Hollywood liberal, but not an unthinking one. Very smart.
Maybe, but he’s kind of dooshey about it.
If I started disliking people cause of their politics would run out of friends real fast.
Tru dat
Unless they are socialists. Then fuck’em.
I still get a kick out of the beat reporters talking about starters, 1st team and 2nd team etc. How many years have you guys been doing this? LOL
They better fix that shit, and FAST!
Least according to the QAM crew, Booby McCain was playing a lot of deep safety today. Like the thought of him or Minkah in centerfield. Never thought Jones or TJ suited to that, even if Minkah is good up close as well.
Versatility is key in the Pats defense (secondary) that came from Belichick to Flores.
I’m hoping Albert Wilson comes back strong. I have no idea whether he’ll be as fast or as explosive, but I hope he is. He was fun to watch last year.
You can find damn near anything on YouTube nowadays
Here is the Dolphins Redskins super bowl game of 1972, condensed version
Play every game , like it’s Your last game
Jake Scott
Put every AC in like it’s your last one…because it is!
I read this on some random site that said what position or on what string
guys played in today’s practice meant nothing.
“No,
nothing means nothing;
everything means something.
You just need to figure it out.
NFL teams don’t spend millions of dollars on
stuff that means nothing. Like Training Camp.
Players are vying for millions of dollars and/or
not falling into the half of the team that gets cut.
If they don’t show somebody something, they could end up with nothing.
Do you really think Flores is over there making wise cracks and
getting tips on his golf swing?
I think he is both delivering his message and
surveilling every minute of every player’s actions
to see who is buying in, who is loafing,
and who is in shape and studied their playbook.
And what he can’t see, his 25 position coaches see, and
his tape machines record for him to see tonight.
These things don’t mean nothing.”
just read that raekwon mcmillan was relegated to the 2nd team D due to his inability to cover. Kalen Ballage starts ahead of Drake…no surprise there….my sister would start ahead of him….and Minkah Fitz was 2nd team D as well!
https://sports.yahoo.com/day-one-practice-report-surprises-174924489.html
lol
1st team, 2nd team means nothing. Evaluation, analysis, mixing and matching, discovery, learning is on coaches’ agenda.
maybe they’re just trying to send a message however this is what i read.
“The Dolphins used Sam Eguavoen ahead of McMillan in the middle. Eguavoen was signed as a free agent out of the CFL, where he played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders the past three seasons. I cannot tell you this is going to be an ongoing thing for the remainder of camp, but I can say Eguavoen is clearly comfortable in the middle of the defense.
McMillan, who struggled in coverage last season, worked mostly with the second-team defense on Thursday.”
Slow down guys, please . . . McMillan was great last year, one of if not the best run stuffers in the NFL. He won’t be asked to cover much, that’s Baker and occasionally Kiko.
It seems we actually have signed Allen Hurns.
He has talent but he was a UDFA coming out of U Miami, right?
That gives us 11 WRs on the 90. plus Ricardo Louis on IR.
This pushes Reece Horn or Trenton Irwin off the team, maybe today.
Allen Hurns was part of a really dynamic passing tandem with Allen Robinson. If he can play like he did in JAX, we’ve got ourselves a nice bigger receiver.
In 2015 he had over 1000 yards, 10 TD’s and over 16 YPC. I’ll take anything close to that.
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/could-redskins-be-in-contention-for-the-no-1-pick-in-2020-heres-why-things-could-get-ugly/
WHAT???? A team worse than the Miami Dolphins???
wait
will the Fest game be billed “the Tua Bowl”?
not to rhyme with “Toilet Bowl” of course.
LOL – Could be!
I am surprised Hurns could pass a physical.
(Maybe he hasn’t.)
He had a really bad broken ankle, and it was in the playoffs,
so that is not as many months of recovery as if it was week 11 or something.
Maybe they sign him and immediately put him on the PUP or even IR,
just to lock him up with us.
He could come back in Week 8 or 10 for the playoff run.
Broken ankle? That should be 6-8 weeks. This article says he’s healthy . . .
https://www.profootballrumors.com/2019/07/dolphins-cowboys-allen-hurns
wow
I’ve never broken anything but a toe.
That was in high school wrestling, and it still f’n hurts.
So I will trust you that a broke leg will heal that fast for a WR.
He refused to take a pay cut to re sign with the Cowboys,
but he took about the same cut to play with us.
Naples – I suppose it depends on the severity of the break, and whether it was just one bone or multiple bones. I broke my ankle and I had my cast off in 6 weeks. It was quite atrophied and hurt like hell when I first started putting pressure on it, but i was running just a couple of weeks later. I was 38 at the time, and there were “adhesions” that hurt every time one of those tore.
“adhesions”?
ewww
Are those like fleshy cobwebs?
scar tissue?
Does tequila help with that?
Is tequila a PED in the NFL?
Great illustrative example Mike E.
I am hereby informed.
Whose snaps would Hurns take away from?
LOL – I’m not sure exactly what adhesions are, but that sounds pretty accurate. I had a radiologist on my team at the time and one time I when my foot hit home plate it kind of flexed laterally a bit and I felt all kinds of pain, thought maybe I broke it again, but he explained to me that I tore some adhesions which oddly made me feel better. 🙂
PS – I’m sure Tequila, Bourbon and the like help ALL those kinds of things.
Naples — didn’t know you wrestled. Randy and I did as well. How’d you break your toe…. someone step on it? Physical as it is, not many major injuries.
Sounds like we got Hurns for $3 mil if he hits incentives. He’s only 27 and it is just one year. Kind of player we should be bringing in.
Toba – If you’re reading, I just took care of a lovely young woman (for eyeglasses) from Toronto, she now lives here in NJ. As soon as she started talking to me I asked her if she was Canadian, and explained I was familiar with her accent because I have friends that live there.. She kinda reminded me of Darlene too, she was funny and bubbly. 🙂
I told her about caw-fee and chawk-lit LOL
Nice… yes scrolling through from NOLA Airport on way home… we consider Toronto part of Canada i guess..
HAHAHA!
Nice! I guess that clears that up for both Naples and I. He’s healthy!
looks like he’s favorin it to me, kinda steppin gingerly.
See the pain in his left arm placement?
plus extra tape wrapped under the shoe and enclosing the heel?
Stanger – Did T.J. come back fast enough fer ya? lol
Yeah I misunderstood…. and yeah you can be a pain in the ass at times. 🙂
I excel at that!
Wyo – Keep ’em coming brother!
^
For those wanting to talk about RB’s! 😉
I think they may be overlooking Gaskin
Then the Dolphins are screwed. It’s important to get at least 4 yds on first down, so 2nd and 3rd are manageable and the defense doesn’t know what’s coming. And those 4 yds have to be tough, up the middle yds, outside runs don’t count. And those runs can’t be over 9 yds otherwise you are penalized, put on bread and water for 2 days, and the stats are stricken from the record.
Anything less than that and it’s absolutely impossible to win, period, end of story, hallelujah, amen, where’s the Tylenol?
😉
And go ahead and throw a “Drake can’t get the tough yards” in there, lol.
Of course he can’t! Rob’s sister runs harder!
We need to get her signed and suited up!
LMAO NICE
Flores on the QB position battle. Longest version of “We’ll see” ever read.
———————————-
“I don’t have a concrete deadline. I would say that. I think we’re in an evaluation process, really from now and throughout. I think in this league, with the players that are in this league and how guys develop and the light bulb goes off for certain guys at certain points. Then, there’s always opportunities for changes to be made, and that’s a good thing for everyone on the team. There’s no spots that are slotted. There’s no sacred cows. I’ve said that before. People, our team, our organization need that competition, and the best players are going to play. The guys who practice who we feel like are going to give us the best opportunity to win, those are the guys that are going to be out there.”
Man, grants kids are almost the same height as he is
LOL
Mike is leaving it all on the dance floor
Shitbag and all…..
ROTFLMAO!!!!!
Wyo – Reading that the Astros are going to trade for Syndegaard? You down with that?
Hadn’t read that ?
I’ll have to look at it????
Stanger
I only wrestled one year. In the 157 class I think.
They changed the season so it coincided with basketball, so I quit wrestling.
I was doing a hand-rip stand up escape from bottom position and ended up with all my weight on my big toe tip with the guy pulling down on that same one arm with all his weight.
My toe tip slipped so I landed on the point of that toe knuckle, and it just cracked, stress fractured and chipped the tip off the knuckle before i could get my swing foot under my weight or even throw myself prone.
Still has a little protrusion on top of it.
You guys are the real deal though. I was just in it for the chicks.
Ow….no wonder it still hurts to this day….a and yes adhesions are painful to tear up. That’s why passive mobilization is so important during the healing process vs locking it down (immobilization).
Naples — 157 was me too in high school last year…. but never got the chicks thing. Sounds Dr not me that you have some ligament stuff going on. Bones heal. Ligaments rearrange around them after they do.
Mike E.
Those are the correct pronunciations,
the ones you mis labeled “Canadian.”
The joizih stal iss defernt.
as in when you say
“Tober” from “cane uh der”
or a drank o’ wooder…
I can’t do it, but then no one else can either.
Those weren’t Canadian style, those were Brooklyn style. Toba and Darlene think the way I say coffee and chocolate are funny. I mean some folks (‘muricans) say CHOCK-lit and coffee like toffee CAA-fee
Krishna
yeah, nice try with the science.
We didn’t mix science and sports much back in the day.
My coach was old school, so for modern science
he threw three yellow salt tablets on the mat
next to where i was writihing and said,
“After you take 2 laps, son,
you gotta wrestle up,
slap the wuss off yuh.”
meaning i had to fight a guy from a heavier weight class to toughen me up.
So I hobble-jogged 2 laps around the gym and
he made me wrestle Joe Wrobolewski
who had few teeth but weighed 190 something.
I managed to keep from getting pinned for almost 2 minutes,
but both ears got bloody from headlocks
and one elbow got twanked out 23 degrees from the norm.
(Those headpieces they wear now had not been invented.)
And now you’re paying for it….that was the point. Had hip dislocated, survived because NOT wearing seat belt, would limp the rest of my life and be in pain…rehab was passive, chiropractic orthopedic adjustment and the least of my concerns today.
When Fitz was talking about how the coaches are challenging them mentally, I wonder if the coaches are doing what they did with the Pats? I mean, instead of just asking a player what you do when you see “this” but also ask something like, OK Fitz, What is Kiko going to do when you see this or what is that guy going to do?
I think that was how the Pats defense was so affective against the Rams in the SB. Everyone knew exactly what everyone else was going to do when they got certain looks. I remember
hearing about this a lot from their players and how they are grilled like that in the meeting rooms. It was part of their daily homework.
Of course they are if you think they are good coaches. Are they? We shall see.
For any open border lovers out there, there is an illegal alien by the name of MOHAMMAD ALFATT ALQADI in jail here who was just arrested for homicide. Yes, he does have a hold for ICE who our local law enforcement works very closely with. You probably won’t see it in the news (other than our local news) because, as of now, they are calling it “not premeditated”.
Don’t know what the facts are but once his case is entered into the clerk of courts (probably not until Monday) I am going to request his police report. I’m nosey like that, LOL.
What a shame Mexico never sent a check for the solar powered concrete wall,
We will have to have our own security, and pay for it ourselves, expecting Mexico to pay our way is ridiculous.
Who was believing Mexico would pay for the wall and it would be completed soon?
SMH
Even if the wall was a valid answer, it won’t be finished in at least 10 years, and Mexico will not be helping us
So that murderer guy would do what he does , there was never a legit plan to have a wall to stop him
All we can say is The wall that didn’t get built or financed, didn’t stop him
We don’t know if a wall in the future could stop guys like him, maybe they have ladders , ropes, and shovels in Mexico
