Colorado Avalanche still in “CHOKE MODE” tonight in St. Louis. Avs have a big lead in shots but trail on the scoreboard 2-1 after two periods. Would be 3-1 but an Avs defenseman actually had to make a save when their goalie was about 2 feet out of the crease after losing his balance. Blues can really smell the blood now!!

I don’t know who Kohn is but I didn’t really think he did anything out of line in that video and Kinlaw was way out of line

He asked Kinlaw what he said and Kinlaw wouldn’t tell him and then just said a bunch of stuff about his balls, his family and his name (in no particular order)

That clip was seriously one sided and Kinlaw looked like the problem to me
    —————-
    Hey, Pigster,

I don’t think you clicked on the video I provided that preceded the one video ya watched. Kohn has been hounding Kinlaw for some time and in a most unprofessional, inappropriate way… he started the fire.

Kinlaw is a punk, nevertheless… I’m not disagreeing with you on that, man. I suddenly and very much dislike Kinlaw now.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

      I didn’t

I don’t know though, if some one asks you an open ended question to explain what they said – I think you have to explain it

Didn’t look like Kinlaw had any interest in telling him why he was upset

Cheers, Toba. It was rough to lose that way, but I knew once the Cards went up 4-0 against the Brewers that the Blues were done for.

(Every Blues loss coincided with a Cards win if you missed that earlier, lol.)

After Binner went down I expected to be done in 5; we fought hard and made the Avs earn it. Would have been nice to force game 7, but honestly I thought they were going to beat up on us tonight anyway. Husso kept us in the game. I’m proud of my guys.

SPEAKING OF “EXTRA REST,” the Lightning will have had about an EXTRA WEEK’S REST when they finally play either the Rangers or the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference Finals!! — The big question in Tampa is “Will Brayden Point be able to play at any point in that series??” Head Coach Jon Cooper is being very tight lipped on that topic.

    about oysters Steve
That was our rule of thumb. But then, back then, we were out in the sawgrass raking oysters off the mudflats as they were right at water level. Very wild.
Oysters eat by filtering water through to extract microbiotic nutrients.
I grew up in Charleston which is somewhat of a line sometimes with what can grow there, meaning there are plants which are an indicator of chill factor.
Traditional Peaches and pecans can grow there, coconuts can’t, even though it is the palmetto state. (not saying hybridizers haven’t been trying to get apples to grow there and roses to grow in Naples, so maybe there’s hope for that)
But in the wild, it’s different. Again with modern “farms,” such as salmon farms, shrimp farms, etc. (are there oyster farms yet? not sure), maybe that’s different, because they might be able to control water temp and use chemicals to kill the bacteria in the farm water.
So when marsh waters (oysters grow in the marshes) exceed a certain chill (no idea what degree that is) then the waters are subject to a bacteria over-growth until the cold Atlantic kills it back.
There was always some high school after-prom party where all the kids got sick because they tried to have an oyster roast on the beach as usual, but it was already too late (May has no R).
So we were very cautious of that.
Again, that was the sixties, so maybe now they know more, but there are articles on google that say that New England shore waters are warmer and they are concerned about their oyster industry (and their lobsters).

oops on my first oyster post
“down here” was me referring to pig living “up there” (in the North).
I sometimes still think of myself as living in Charleston,
since I was born and raised and married and lived there for over 30 years.
I do not know if Gulf of Mexico oysters are even the same breed.
Gulf lobsters certainly are not the same thing as New England lobsters.

  21. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

The bacteria Vibrio vulnificus is commonly present in oysters, but warm water can lead the bacteria to grow rapidly, so the riskiest oysters come from the Gulf of Mexico during the summer months. Nov 12, 2009

    • naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I literally have been to over a thousand oyster roasts.
We’d soak a burlap sack in sea water (and sometimes beer)
so as to steam the oysters over a “campfire” till they popped open.
We all had old ratty canvas oyster gloves with the fingers worn out from the oyster shells that’re so sharp they’ll slice you right open.
      Plus they’d be steaming hot.
And we all had our own oyster knife which was blunt so you could slip it in between the shells and snap off the top shell with a twist of the wrist.
Chicks’d love it when you opened them up and shared them.
They were so delicious. We’d eat them by the bushel.
      Richmond, Virginia?
      Chesapeake Bay oysters then?
Much farther north than Charleston, but still southern.
I think it’s so cool that you played rugby.
I have a nephew in law who plays rugby in the NC mountains now.
Only real men can play rugby it’s so brutal.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

I wasn’t involved in the cooking, but my impression was they’d get say three bushels of oysters on ice (assume the local variety for Richmond, VA) and just pop on a couple normal grills. They’d throw a half cup of beer on every so often, but otherwise was au natural.

One of my friends has a weekend place in Norther Neck, VA and buys bags of little oysters on the cheap and hangs them off his dock. Never seen them but according to him some grow to as big as his hand. Want to see those oysters?

And yeah Rugby is fun as hell. Played for 15 years. My only regret now is the injuries. They heal then but come back to haunt you.

  23. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Some people are leery of warm-water oysters. “It comes from the myth that you should eat oysters only in months with an R, when the water temperature is so cold bacteria doesn’t grow,” Daffin says. “Nowadays they clean them carefully so they’re safe year-round.” And consistently meaty.

Sorry to hear that, Pigster… especially over a holiday weekend. I once got food poisoning from eating bad calamari… and as much as I absolutely loved it prior to the episode, I’m not sure I’ll ever eat it again. That’s how bad a taste it left in my palate, olfactory, and stomach from vomiting.

    Get well soon, pal.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

That happened to me one time after eating hot pastrami. Couldn’t eat it for years after that. It might not have even been the pastrami, I could have caught a bug, but I attributed it to that.

I’ll tell ya this, Tim… any and every time there was calamari mixed in any stir-fry foods I’ve cooked (post my original episode), I puked afterward. And it’s not even that the calamari was so strong (it went down nice!), but it was in there: my stomach automatically rejected it afterward as though it was a foreign invader to my body.

Crickets!!!! I think Channing Tindall is a huge addition. I see Baker, Roberts and Tindall manning the inside while Ogbah, Phillips, Van Ginkel and Ingram man the outside. Not counting the pure DL. Then you have our secondary. We’re a good and talented defense in all three phases. Let’s enjoy it!

The new offense is what will get us over the hump. We’re not going to fail because of defense. We’re loaded even if some media and fans won’t admit it. We should be a top 5 defense. We have everything you want.

Actually we’ve got 4 guys to contain them. We saw both safeties last year bottle up Jackson.

Any of the 4 on any given play could have containment or 2 at a time

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

True because our DBs can get after people and play physical. But adding a LB like Tindall changes the game. You don’t have to rely on him to be the guy, just another part of the cog to keep it coming. Speed kills! Coach McD believes in it in all phases.

  31. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

While everyone is focused on the Tyreek Hill trade and the the transformation of the offense, I think the pundits are forgetting about our defense and upside. STs too. We’re becoming crazy fast as a team. It never stops. McDaniel wants all positions to play fast. It sounds easy but he helped create the roster to do it. If you play slow you’ll be cut.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Coach McD will have to cut 37 players like every other HC. Then decide who can land on the PS. Sorry if I’m typical positive Tim Knight but this year does feel different. The depth of this team if pretty damn good. The OL is still what has to improve for me. Looking forward to the new scheme and makeup.

LOL @ Naples – Never have I thought as I’m enjoying calamari that it’s not supposed to be a food animal. I used to be one of the pickiest eaters, really limited myself. I try just about anything, and have really expanded my food eating world. I’m really happy I have, there’s so much good stuff out there that I would have missed out on. Never thought I would eat as much seafood as I do, raw clams, oysters, fish (sushi), squid, octopus etc. Never could have imagined eating those things as an 18 YO, but eat them all now.

  33. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Naples – Just caught some posts up above, I thought that seafood rule with the R months applied to clams too. I guess all seafood is better in the R months, but at a few points in my life, I forgot whether the food was better in the R months or worse. lol

    • naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

yeah I suppose oysters are like clams (and mussels and conch too) — all mollusks.
As are octopuses, squids, snails, slugs, etc.
Everybody must decide what they will eat.
I don’t eat any that don’t have shells or that live on dry land.
I nowadays mostly avoid oysters and clams.
I do love scallops though. That’s the one of these I still eat. It’s dryer meat or something.

  34. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Now arthropods, that’s a more difficult decision, because I really love shrimp.
However, I rarely eat crab or lobster.
Yikes, this group includes flies, roaches, centipedes, and scorpions.
I don’t eat any of those.

  35. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Teddy Bridgewater has a career 62-41 TD to INT ratio with a career 89.8 passer rating.
Ideally you want your QB to have at least a 2-1 ratio,
and in 2020 the league average passer rating was 93.6.
Tua has a career 27-15 ratio with a 88.8 rating, although it was 90.1 last year.

  36. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

At the NFL’s Annual League Meeting on Monday, coach Mike McDaniel made it clear that Bridgewater was signed as the backup, not to compete with Tua for the starting gig.

“Around the Combine, I was describing specifically what I thought Tua really needed in support with a backup quarterback,” McDaniel said. “Unbeknownst to you guys, I was quite literally describing Teddy Bridgewater at the time, just not using his name. So, both players have (been) explicitly explained their roles and expectations. For that room to be their best, they need to know that.”

  37. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

At the NFL Scouting Combine, McDaniel’s exact quote on what the team was looking for to support Tua was: “When you’re looking for a No. 2 quarterback, there’s two things: You want him to benefit the starting quarterback while the starting quarterback is the starting quarterback and empower him with how they approach their daily game plan responsibilities, how they develop when they’re training in the offseason. But you also want a guy that can win games should the starter go down. So, a veteran backup is definitely in our discussions, but it’s the best player that we can find in whatever avenue and move forward from there.”

That pretty well defines Bridgewater, who is 33-30 in his career as a starter and has shown the ability to run a functional offense. The upside with Teddy isn’t there, but he’s a solid distributor who can get the ball to the playmakers’ hands, even if he doesn’t operate an explosive show.

      Trent Scherfield
      Preston Williams
      Erik Ezukanma

and a few players that are long shots to make the roster.
      So given those names

Scherfield was signed mostly for ST and played for MM

Cracraft seems to be a Longshot

Bowden, injured last year, but I don’t hold that against him, because I think he could’ve played, was stashed on IR. He fits this O pretty good

Preston might have the most upside, but with him not really playing ST and often injured he seems like a longshot

I pulled up this article this morning and on the side is a bunch of ad’s. The top ad you can see a younger Elizabeth Shue’s titties through a see through bra. Have you seen that one? Not big but nice. I think it is one of those ad’s that show what celebrities look like now vs back then. I didn’t open it though. It’s probably one of those where you have go through 25 other pages of celebrities until you get to her picture only for it to be a different one.

Though I haven’t clicked on the add, I still haven’t closed the tab for the article either incase I want to, you know, look at her boobies again. 😉

JUST SAW ON ESPN that the Avalanche are 6-5 favorites to win the Stanley Cup. NO THANK YOU after their less than inspiring performance against a banged-up St. Louis team!!
    ————————————
OF THE 5 TEAMS STILL ALIVE in the battle for the Cup, give me the NYR at 11-1 and Tampa Bay at 6-1!! The home team has won all 6 games in the Carolina-NYR series. Game 7 is tomorrow night in Raleigh. I’m breaking with the trend and taking the visiting RANGERS to upset the Hurricanes in game 7 after they dismantled the Canes in game 6. IF I’m right, the NYR will play the Lightning in the Eastern Conference Finals!! The winner of THAT series will play the Western Conference Finals winner, either Colorado or Edmonton, in the Stanley Cup Finals.
    ———————————–
MY OPINION IS that either the upstart Rangers OR the highly favored LIGHTNING will win the FINALS over the winner of the Western Conference Title. Tampa’s 6-1 payout and the NYR’s 11-1 payout is MUCH more attractive to me than are Colorado’s 6-5 odds or Edmonton’s odds.

OD – This isn’t the era of get whatever players you want. There’s a salary cap that is in place to at least in theory create parity. Every team has holes, but I think the Dolphins have a pretty damn good roster. I think those young, talented guys we have on our roster like Austin Jackson and Liam Eichenberg will be good NFL players, they need to be coached. We knew that when we drafted Austin Jackson, he was a 20 YO raw prospect with athletic talent and power at a young age. We didn’t coach him well. Eichenberg came in more ready but struggled. I think he’ll bounce back. We did bring in two quality NFL starters on the O-line in Armstead and Williams. We have to hope that’s enough.

The Mona Lisa was left shaken but unharmed on Sunday when a visitor to the Louvre tried to smash the glass protecting the world’s most famous painting before smearing cream across its surface in an apparent climate-related publicity stunt.

The perpetrator was a man disguised as an old lady who jumped out of a wheelchair before attacking the glass.

“Maybe this is just nuts to me…,” posted the author of a video of the incident’s aftermath that shows a Louvre staffer cleaning the glass. “(He) then proceeds to smear cake on the glass, and throws roses everywhere before being tackled by security.”
