If Connor Williams will be a fixture at center, then the alignment I have up top may well be what we see to start the season. Or, perhaps they flip Liam Eichenberg and Austin Jackson, so Eichenberg plays RT with Jackson inside at LG. Or maybe Michael Deiter moves to one of the guard spots. My thought though is if we’re looking for the most athletic players in the outside zone blocking scheme, then these are the 5 players. Everything is fluid though, they haven’t even strapped on pads yet, but there’s no harm in speculating away, since at this point, it’s all we can do.
Connor Williams appears to like playing center though, and he’s far more athletic and capable of getting into second level blocks than his predecessor, Michael Deiter. One thing I can say is this is a BIG O-line. Athletic, but BIG. If it stays as currently constituted, with every linemen at 6’5 or taller, and at the moment, Eichenberg the lone member under 320 pounds. I loved watching Solomon Kindley here, he’s a mauler, but I don’t think he fits the scheme we’re running with now. I suppose he could drop some weight and gain some quickness, but he’s a small area operator for best results, and this offensive line will be all about movement, angles and getting a body on a body just long enough to get him out of the play. That doesn’t mean this O-line won’t be physical, aggressive, but it’s based on lots of motion from most of the line, not just one on one beating the person immediately in front of you, there’s a lot of teamwork.
The good thing from my perspective is no matter who plays where, our depth will be much better. I can’t say it enough times, no reason to give up on the young talented players we drafted in ’20 and ’21 like Austin Jackson and Liam Eichenberg. These guys will be at the very least average NFL starters and with better coaching, more than that. If the line plays out like I put up on top then you have Deiter and Kindley as depth on the interior, and Coleman, Jones and Little on the outside with the possibility of still adding someone after June 1st cuts. I know there will always be some folks who think we didn’t do enough on the O-line, (you know who YOU are), but if you’re one of them, you’re simply discounting the aforementioned young players in Jackson and Eichenberg. These guys have to be given the opportunity to be good NFL players because they should be. Is it possible we pick up a veteran center like J.C. Tretter? Of course. We were extremely “comfortable” with Deiter not too long ago at C, and now it’s Williams. Adding Tretter just adds more talent and another starter and makes the line even better, but not sure if it’s in the cards, or the cap.

who is dragon queen and how has she already liked this post?
Wasn’t that a great ABBA song?
was there ever a “Great ABBA song”? is the real question.
YES, there was.
It is Friday after all
When I log in directly through wordpress to see the articles from that view. The search blogs box has a ‘suggestion’ list – **Love, poetry, and zombies**…LOL, wtf?
You mean the search tab underneath our archives list?
No, it’s when I’m on wordpress, not on this blog specifically.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen that
I just went back, and now it says *mathematics, food, and beach*, lol, it must just be random stuff.
Sooooooooo Dragon Queen likes to write erotic fiction and draw intimate scenes. (besides lurking on Dolphins blogs without posting)
Welcome Dragon Queen!
It’s interesting, I was just looking through some of the other posts. There are quite a few names we don’t see comment that ‘like’ the posts.
wow, just went down a rabbit hole, but I’m back now….
I was in the admin page yesterday to unspam some posts. There’s a list of searches there that had me cracking up. I don’t know if it’s searches on this site or what. But I definitely recognized some things that had been discussed here.

Gotta love ‘Obama-Care’. NOT saying it was right to kill(!!!), but the way I heard it, the Dr. pretty much screwed the patient up, BIG TIME. And GWB put a cap limit on the amount a lowly patient can sue a backyard doctor for, during his tenure as president.
For every action, there is a reaction… and some reaction is downright BAD. This has nothing to do with guns, this has to do with problematic healthcare or lack thereof.
‘Obama-Care’ MUST be repealed, ASAP. It’s pretty sad when you have video game players acting as ‘doctors’.
—————–
The last sentence phrase of this post was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek, ie, illustrating ridiculousness with more ridiculousness (a staple of the late Rush Limbaugh). I think most understood as much, but a few of you didn’t. My bad for not being clearer, CavKong and Ken, for example.
My point was that a killer is going to kill, PERIOD: I tire of the blame games when it comes to guns and our #2A. I hope it now makes sense to y’all.
I should have put the whole last sentence/phrase in quotes, as if the lunatic who killed was thinking or saying that thought.
Yeah, I still don’t get it. It looked to me like you were either denigrating the doctor who was 100% a victim and/ or you were piggybacking off the shooting to go on a rant about Obama care which had nothing to do with the shooting.
I would have stayed out of it, but I wasn’t going to let someone bad mouth the victim who by all accounts was a very good person. You’re saying you weren’t doing that, so that’s enough for me.
I would NEVER badmouth a victim of a tragedy, my friend. It’s not in my character to do so.
Cool, I know the written word sometimes comes off wrong. I may have just misinterpreted. I said my piece, no worries.
Thank you, Mike E. As long as the best 5 OL we have become an OL that allows the O to work, I’m happy. I really could care less as long as they can open lanes, push up front, and protect/give the QB time to throw…you know like an OL should be able to do.
Yeah, I can say it 1000 times that these guys will be good but until they are, they aren’t, because they haven’t been.

I’ve read many things similar to this, it doesn’t seem to be as cut and dry as you make it out to be
Typically, an employee is not held liable for ordinary carelessness or negligence in the performance of their duties. However, if an employee acts outside the scope of reasonableness, causing damage or injury to either property or persons, an employer may be able to sue an employee for negligence.
———
You are talking about apples and oranges. You are talking about scope of employment which is relevant if the employee causes injury to a 3rd person. The circumstance Rock described was the employee caused damage to his own property. He was the cause of his own damage. No one other than him is liable. The vicarious liability for the employer does not apply as the employee is the claimant and tortfeasor.
Mike E,
As of right now, I think you’ve got the right idea as to who would be our starting O-Line (and their positions) if the season started today. We shall see!
“if you’re one of them, you’re simply discounting the aforementioned young players in Jackson and Eichenberg.”
I’m not exactly discounting them, but sure did like the thought of taking whichever one of them beat out the other better. And yeah that meant Deiter (or Tretter) at C, but then at least PFF rated Deiter higher than either of them last season… and he was playing in the tough first half.
Still a great total write though.
I am discounting them
So “(you know who YOU are)” 🙂
No I don’t but that’s another issue
LOL — but least have to admit that course at the prestigious OD OL evaluation school is kicking in hard this offseason. 🙂
Wondering aloud… could it be that the public thought/threat of Conner Williams taking the starting Center job just be a way to light a fire under Micheal Deiter’s seat?
*Connor
*Michael
Deiter is entering his 4th season, I doubt he needs a fire lit under his seat. This is from early minicamp.
https://www.miamidolphins.com/video/michael-deiter-may-4-press-conference
Good write, Mike. Besides Tua and the deep ball lol, the OL is the biggest concern for most people.
Speaking of the O-Line, I’m very interested to know who will serve as Terron Armstead’s backup at the LT position in the event he goes down for a time.
I mean, if we want consistency on the O-Line, it would be best not to play musical chairs. Ideally, one guy would be the designated backup for Armstead. Let’s say, for example, it would be Connor Williams from the Center position. Then, all we would need to do is bring Michael Deiter in to play Center.
Worst case scenario would be having 4 other O-Linemen suddenly switch positions.
I’d say one of the other tackles on the team. 😉
Just wanted to come out as the dragon queen. bow down.
Tim Knight says:

—————
I’m rolling with ‘BEST 5’. Let’s say Eich is our starting LG, for example. Perhaps he’s a better LT than any of our listed backup Tackles? Better have a great backup Guard, in that example.
I just don’t want to see musical chairs going on in the event Armstead goes down, as per usual.
Every coach and player says versatility is key. Yet we still get all crazy here about guys moving around when needed. Every team has to deal with it because you can only keep so many OL. It’s not unique to us.
McDaniel said recently that working OL to play different positions gives them a better perspective on how the system works as a whole. It also helps when they need to step in and play a different position in a game. It’s not foreign to them.
I understand all of that. I’m just looking at worst-case scenarios, and trying to strike up a convo regarding our Phins, nothing more! 😉
Worst-case scenarios are just that, not good situations. But no team has the perfect replacement for their top players. It’s too difficult to be that deep. You have to grind through it. Look at what happened to the Ravens last year, their season was derailed because of so many injuries at multiple positions. All we can do is hope for the best.
There WILL be another wave of cuts (including vets) as teams get down to their final-53. What’s more, there are FAs out there who don’t want to go through the rigors of offseason training (JC Tretter is one of them).
We’re still at roughly $17.4M under the cap. I expect to see another move(s) as we get closer to TC.
Gotta run for a bit. Who will be the first to post music here on Friday?
Rock, he already posted his favorite band, think he’s mentioned he’s seen them every year for the last 40 years🤪
Stanger, comment for you on the last blog, not bringing it forward
Senator Ben Sasse is a classic conservative guy who was obviously making a statement about today’s politics. He didn’t leave the liberals out of his assessment either. Not surprised you took issue with what he said on the GOP side but then it isn’t coming from Nancy Pelosi either. He has a lot of info and perspective on what’s going on….. and obviously I agreed with it.
I know him too stangerx and agree he calls both sides out….I like him, too. Seems like he tries to play above the politics…that’s a hard job, for sure
Unlike Collins or Murkowski he doesn’t come from a swing state. And Romney can do what he wants long as the Mormon Church is behind him. Sasse is from highly red Nebraska but still speaks him mind. An art in that.
Tua is going to love the easy completions Tyreek will get him
Good stuff! Now you have Waddle doing the same stuff and between him and Hill they just flip flop who’s doing what one any given play. Like Warner said, it opens the field for other guys too – Gesicki and Wilson or a check down to our backs. McDaniel has said creating space for RAC/YAC is paramount. It should be fun.
Stanger – What do you think of Larry Hogan?
Big fan.
One of the reasons I think the OL will play better this season other than the upgrades we added, is the offense we’ll be running. The RPO staple we ran last year didn’t do them any favors. Like Piggy always complained about, we either ran the play-action draw or passed out of shotgun. There’s not much for the defense to think about with that system. All the OL have talked about this offseason is in McD’s system you get to move and play aggressive instead of allowing the defense to load up on the front and keep them more static and on their heels.
That should definitely help. Better balanced attack can only help
The formations and multiple plays you run out of them too. We’ve heard that the scheme in SF was to look similar a lot of the time but not do the same thing. They use motion and deception too. Having a solid running game that opponents have to respect is huge.
“Outside zone is a run play that takes advantage of the cut-off blocks and leverages the offensive line to get an aggressive running attack that will wear down the defense’s pursuit.”
Tried posting three times. Nuttin’
4th time is the charm?
You made it. LOL
Well take the nut out already!
I guess I should summon Twice to possibly investigate what’s going on with people having trouble logging in. I guess I should summon Twice to possibly investigate what’s going on with people having trouble logging in.
LOL
Think about the traditional pro-set which is 21 personnel. We’re going to use that formation in our offense. RB, FB, TE and 2 WRs. I could see us using Smythe at TE with Hill and Waddle on each side at WR a lot in that formation. It’s a run strong formation but you can pass equally well out of it. Teams aren’t stacking the box with Hill and Waddle outside. That formation will probably force defenses to play Cover 2. That basically ends up being 4-3-4. You can throw underneath all day with that outside speed. Better tackle them. 🙂

The bell doesn’t work properly for me either. Many times the bell shows there’s a new reply but there isn’t. Not sure which other stuff you’re referring to.
Dolphins 28-0 late 3rd over jets week 5 Madden 23😅
31-7 final
Madden thinks we have a dominant roster over the jets
I’m guessing you have Madden ’23 already?
Armstead had an interesting take on blocking in this playbook, and I don’t think he’s actually even been in action yet. Certainly no pads.
He says this scheme gives an OL the chance to become a playmaker, to think “hey, I did that, I threw the block that opened the lane that let that long run happen. He’ll be featured on TV.”
or something like that.
He said that gives the OL guys inspiration. In many playbooks, they just fire off at their blocking target, and the play happens remotely in a sense to their phone booth block.
Not every time, but 90% of the time.
In McDaniel’s playbook, there is a directly scripted vertical integration among the three or four primary players in the play. The OL knows his specific block is related to the QB’s ballhandling (deception) and the FB’s misdirection for trapping the LB, and the RB sticking his foot in the ground and cutting off the tail of that OL who knew if he chipped the first guy and stampeded the second level guy, the play would go for 6-14 yds before some DB or off-side LB could get there.
According to Armstead, once an OL has felt how good that feels, he can’t wait for them to call his number again, so he can throw the Big Block again and watch himself shine on the Big Screen.
Sure beats lining up like a dumb ox play after play and smashing into a wall while worrying on 3rd and long the DL is gonna run a game on you in pass pro and make you look stupid.
Yeah I watched him talk about that and no he’s not participating other than observing, sharing his vet wisdom and studying the playbook. His presence for this young OL is huge even if he’s not playing. He’s going to be the leader on the OL. Thanks for your contributions Jesse Davis but you’re no Terron Armstead.
Conner Williams is the 2nd most experienced player on the OL with 57 games played and 51 starts in 4 seasons. He’ll bring that vet experience to the young group too. We really lacked that the last 3 seasons.
lllllll
His balls probably dropped and his balance is all thrown off

I grew up loving the super hero comics, DC and Marvel. But I seriously don’t get it anymore. How many fucking Superman, Batman and Spiderman etc. movies do we need anymore? LOL
Okay the kids like it but adults still being into it is kind of weird to me. It reminds me of the middle-aged or older dudes still feeling the need to set off fireworks for months in spring, summer and fall instead of on that one day. Really… is it still getting you off regardless of how it affects animals/pets and families with little ones sleeping?
I love the MCU
I can’t get enough
Same, I enjoy just about everything the MCU has put out in movies and series.
Piggy, Kong – Just finished the first two episodes of The Boys: Season 3. Show is whack. Had to force myself not to watch the whole season tonight.
I’m gonna check it out but I can already tell it’s not the first season
Definitely not. Some sick fucks wrote this show. Even has some Colon Pokey-like moments.
Hell yeah
Crank this up
You’ve heard everybody do this song but you haven’t heard this chick do it. She bad ass
Tim, Dog
Check this girl out
She’s great at that. But I’ve heard this style of playing thousands of times. I got bored of that at 17-19 years old. Play the same patterns all the time and don’t push the envelope. It’s blues/rock.
Then there’s this.
They’re getting Tua fired up and it seems like he’s responding nicely. He’s a good dude I think most are gonna be surprised as the next season goes along. I won’t be surprised one bit but I’ll sure be smiling. 🐬💪🐧❌🐆☃️💥😁🌶2️⃣
I don’t mean to shit on what you guys enjoy. It flamed out for me a long time ago and I guess it’s me that just doesn’t get it anymore. Fantasy and fiction isn’t my cup of tea. I think reality is so fucked up today that fiction is real.
I’m the same as you. I don’t get it any of it. And that’s ok.
I don’t even know mud or whatever Piggs said even is 🤷♂️
No worries, bro.
LOL
Yep!
Btw, Mike nice job and obviously you agree with my posts from last week. Deiter just isn’t one of the five best linemen we have. There are 3-5 guys better players Han him although probably not at Center but overall.
I still don’t count out Mt Kindley and it’s now or never for him here so we’ll see but it’s hard to project him as in.
I’m counting Armstead and Williams as locks no matter where Williams plays.
Then you have Eich, Jackson and Hunt. There’s the first three that are better than Deiter.
So then among the remaining I think Kindley is better than Deiter personally
There’s 4
And then we have 3-4 other Tackles coming in that all look good especially the one we got as a UDFA from out west plus Coleman
Group all of those together and whoever comes out is the fifth better than Deiter who I project as our backup Center still on a rookie deal.
Van Ginkle will lose the most playing time to Ingram. I see it shaking out that Van Ginkle starts or plays early on but depending on how the game plays out we might see more Ingram in tight game end of second half. With a nice lead or getting our ass kicked then more Van Ginkle.
Don’t underrate the sleeper, lol. He plays in all phases of defense and some STs. He makes plays.
I think what DC Josh Boyer will do is play who is the best matchup at the moment because he’s been handed a loaded defense of versatile players. It’s okay to be high on the defensive personnel too. 🙂
No doubt. In a game marked for Ingram as the best matchup maybe we get on fire and jump on somebody like by three scores or more then maybe you get Ingram out.
I’m just saying that I don’t think Ingram will take many of Phillips snaps he’ll get his from Van Ginkle.
I’m pretty sure the Padres won’t be able to blow tonight’s 9th inning lead against the Brewers like they did last night, lol.
We miss you, Bookman.
That’s so sweet
No Bookman YOU write the songs that make the whole world sing
Mt Kindley best chance to make the team is to beat out Deiter.
If Kindley can play Center then he could beat out Deiter as the game Day seventh lineman sixth only if the center goes down.
Deiter is a way better C than Kindley obviously but not a better Guard and there’s two of them.
It should be fun to watch it play out.
I’m imagining a healthy and hungry Kindley in any scenario I may describe. He’s got a tough road the way it has shaken out credit to Grier for stacking up some talent and making it hard to choose in a properly coached system.
How good is Deiter really when Williams just walked in and never played Center and already took his job?
AITA
I had to look it up so this is for the old guys when you come across it. I’m talking to Krishna, Naples, OD

I told you I don’t get all that stuff lol
Go to 2:30 of this tune. 😉
BTW, that zombie looks like me the next morning after a bottle of tequila and a pack and a half of cigs the night before.
Deiter played mainly LG at Wisconsin. If I am not mistaken, we moved him to OC. What I am hearing is that he does not have the mental makeup for it in McD’s offense. I am sure he is working as backup OC and at LG.
I wouldn’t right off Deiter. He’s a 2019 3rd round versatile OL. He’s not a top player. He’s a guy who has made it to year 4 as a pro. We’ll see if he has that next level in him.
His latest release last week.
Piggy: find season 1 of the Boyz, don’t try to jump in now , need to start at beginning …
Phelon : I pushed play on episode one of season three and started reading todays postings … I hit the Colonpokey moment as you mentor .. I missed the sneeze first time and had to rewind to see WTF happened … yep WARPED
^^ as you mentioned it^^ not mentored
I feel very optimistic toward the OLine compared to years past …. Possibly have some people to Coach Em Up now As well as an attack style scheme to make ORob happy
Sorry…not sure why Orob’s happiness is pertinent….lmao….AITA for saying that?
I’m gonna reiterate the OL situation under Flores since 2019. A new OC and OL coach all three years. No vision. Mike McDaniel was hired to change that. He kept the defense in tact. ST’s goes through turnover but our LS and K are still in place. LOL
That’s all fixed now and we are able to let the talent we’ve acquired blossom. I think we have plenty of guys to have a formidable line.

That one brings back some memories for me. Phil Lynott wasted his life on Heroin like so many did in those days. Irish band btw. Always played in the discos, yes I’m that old. Black Irish rocker set a precedent he did.

Yeah, but I thought our losses were overstated
Parker really? he caused more overall damage to us, because they depended on him and he got hurt far too often, putting the WR room in a bad place
Hollins? He’s not a big loss either, sure he made some big catches from time to time, but with Parker gone we shouldn’t have to count on our 6th WR, as for his STs play Crossen is a better STer
AITA for mentioning it’s been raining for 2 days solid down here? The lake is rising up into my backyard.

No! You’re so much nicer than me…lol
Hmmmm….don’t know why I read some of tis:
https://dolphinstalk.com/2022/06/5-players-who-must-breakout-for-the-dolphins-in-2022/
1. Tua Tagovailoa
Starting with the obvious, Tua Tagovailoa must breakout if the Dolphins wish to make the playoffs. The additions of Tyreek Hill and Terron Armstead with incumbents Mike Gesicki and Jaylen Waddle should help Tua take that next step. Tua has the tools to succeed but has to put it all together. This is truly a sink or swim season for Tagovailoa.
Because of course there’s only 2 possible outcomes
1 Tua takes it to the next level in a big way
2 Tua regressed
From year 2 until Tannehill left we heard the same thing every year, then when he fell somewhere in between what happened he got another year, and another and another, then re-signed
I expect Tua to improve, but it won’t be a Josh Allen year 3 improvement, and a year from now the U75s will say the same thing all over again
Yea, too bad so sad. When I watched the Kurt Warner videos about Tyreek Hill and how his speed and talent made up for Mahomes’ mistakes, I also noticed Mahomes was sipping tea and waiting for TH to get downfield 10-15 yards before breaking into the open.
OL is so critical to QBs success! It really is football 101. That being said, the off-season O strategy is best I could hope for at this point….we shall see.
Just having a running game will alleviate some of the passrush
Having a couple of homerun hitters at RB and WR will also backoff that stacked box Buffalo killed us with
I loved that article about how much the Bills lost and the patriots too.
Losing a 8 sack guy and 2 primary WRs plus 2 main run stoppers is a big deal for Buffalo.
Losing a pick machine, a starting guard, and a ST ace is big for Billy B.
I think I got that all right.
I’ll make a bold prediction: The Jets will finish in 3rd place and the Patriots 4th in the division.
Back where things truly belong in the AFC East.
I get you’re just shitting on the cheats, but we pretty much know the cheats floor, it’s about 7 wins, I don’t want the jets winning more, if they do it’ll mean their QB Justin Beiber had a good year
Someone posted last Knight Wilson was having accuracy issues in mini camp, would like to see that continue
Steve… I really don’t think the Pets will be all that good this year. They’ve suffered some major losses on the D and Bellycheat still can’t draft WRs. Lets see how good Jones is this year.
Zach Wilson like Tua had crap WRs. They loaded up in the draft with some damn good college kids. Their WR corp is much improved. As for ZW inaccurate OTA passes, I place very little credence in them. Lets wait until TC. That’s the real story.
Zach Wilson = Mark Sanchez
Good assessment, but I don’t see him being that good
I do think he can be the pick6, butt fumbled Stinky was
Only gayer (if that’s even possible)
LOL
AITA if I think Tua’s critics are mindless assholes who really have no clue what they’re talking about.
It’s been 27 years according to one reporter I read, basically her entire life, since the Dolphins have had a top 10 O. No one QB is to blame for that….that pretty much speaks to poor performance of everything and everyone the Dolphins have done on that side of the ball.
It’s all on Tua now. Geez, loueez.
Lol
Go and check out the depth charts for the AFC East teams. It not looking good for the Pets. In the little I saw of ZW last year the WRs were doing him no favours, so many drops, and the OL was serviceable at best. If they get Becton back in time that will improve their OL a lot.
Krishna your’re definitely NOT the AH. These morons haven’t got a clue let along a Magnifying Glass to help them find one.
It’s amazing to me the lack of proper analysis/research and laziness by our own beat reporters on the state of our team….I think it starts there.
It’s a copy league both for teams and the beat reporters IMO. Most of the reporters are too busy trying to appear on radio shows, platforms, podcasts, anything to make a dollar because they no the papers are slowly dying. The teams simply don’t care about them, except to manipulate them for their own use. Look how many practices are closed now. Years ago both reporters and fans could turn up, not so much nowadays.
Hahaha know not no. Duh getting close to bedtime.
kkkkkk
If they get Becton back in time that will improve their OL a lot.

The storm passed over Naples about an hour ago. Heavier rain down there, storm is in Everglades now, headed for Stanger and Rock.
—————
You telling me all the rain we got yesterday wasn’t the actual storm? No wonder they were talking about flash floods.
“If you’re a Republican, you can’t even lie to Congress or lie to an FBI agent or they’re coming after you. They’re going to bury you. They’re going to put you in the D.C. jail and terrorize and torture you and not live up to the Constitution there.”
— Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), who apparently values the ability to lie and doesn’t know no torture is going down.
Lying to Congress is a crime regardless of party affiliation
Assume Gohmert knows that. He seems more worried about it getting in the way of him doing business as usghe. And he did speak at the Stop The Steal rally on Jan 6.
I wouldn’t assume anything about Gomert. He is close to brain dead
Here’s a thought Stanger
LOL — my area too. Amazing that you showed me what it’s like outside that haven’t seen with my own eyes. And my wife went out earlier….. so assume that’s just one spot.
That’s what I get for having lot’s of FinFans on my Twitter feed!
I grew up on an island separated from the “mainland” by a canal (there was a bridge). The road by the canal used to flood one-three feet just on big high tides. When a hurricane was coming TV news crews would come and wait. Most times the hurricane missed, the island just had rain, and we’d sit at home watching some reporter from ABC News with a normally flooded Canal Road behind him talking about how bad it is.
Guess I just made the point about you can’t trust MSM. 🙂
surfin’ las olas
(I think olas is waves in Spanish.)
… …
PS
I love the restaurants on that street.
I can walk to all of them. Nice not to have to worry about DUI.
Atlantic Avenue in Del Ray is even better.
Jaelan Phillips should watch this because he can do this, too.
We’ll see if Phillips can do the same, but thanks for the reminder of how awesome he was. Wish that tape had the game winning Halloween sack versus the Bengals…. my favorite moment ever at the Phin’s stadium.
I think that was a Cam Wake sack.
If you mean the one in OT that was a safety.
You are right — still my favorite moment, but I wasn’t even here yet when JT played. Similar stuff though.
They could have left out the puke green at the end!
I know, right Wyo? That almost ruined it for me.
in honor of 99 days until the season opener
I love Del Ray Beach, but I didn’t have quite the same tastiness there.
They do have a Rocco’s Tacos there in Del Ray now.
We go to the one in Naples like twice a month.
We usually get the Cadillac margarita followed by a
Two Tango margarita with that jalapeno salt on the rim.
Or we just dive into flights of Mezcal.
They have an irresistible Mezcal Mondays deal.
I try to keep my wife to her 2-marg limit, but I cave a lot.
lol — so how is the food? 🙂
A Rocco’s on Las Olas too. Eat their food pretty often, but never been there (we order in a lot). Gotta respect the place as trying to turn food you are familiar with better (even if on some dishes means didn’t like the direction they took it).
“I’ve never been around a coach like this, who’s just extremely positive. Growing up, my dad’s always been hard on me. My high school coach has been hard on me. Coach Saban has been hard on me.”
— Tua on McDaniel (and think can assume “never” includes Flores).
I watched the video and he never mentions Flores.
But he said “never been around a coach like this” and Flores was his coach.
I meant he mentioned everyone but Flores which was telling.
“Honestly, it’s the best way that I can keep in-tune to what the players are going through because I’m not sprinting around. At least I have an idea of how hot it is. Otherwise you’ll kind of lose sight of that and then you’ll be doing too many reps, causing soft tissue injuries and all that nonsense.”
— McDaniel on why he wears a sweatshirt in the heat at OTAs.
Smart coach.
Stanger … at Rocco’s
the Molcajetes is excellent. camarones, scallops, mahi mahi, poblanos, calabaza, etc. sizzling
in a volcano rock bowl … with mezcal, it is awesome.
Thanks Naples. Poblano is a favorite and have tried the seafood except the Mahi. Not sure they can ship over sizzling though, but if ever there….. will give it a shot.
They have a roccos in Brooklyn
It’s good
I guess that’s a chain
Rocco Mangel was born and raised in NYC and learned food from his grandfather who was a manager at the Copacabana.
He started Rocco’s Tacos and Tequila Bar in West Palm Beach in 2007, and it has spread slowly since then.
It’s not really a chain so much as he just puts them in places he likes. I think he still sorta owns them all, although of course there is a corporate thing now, I am sure.
It’s funny.
Doesn’t his name mangel mean something to do with eating in Italian?
Rocco’s Pizzeria opened in Brighton Beach Brooklyn about a block from my apartment, somewhere around 1965. Not sure if that’s the Rocco’s you guys are talking about
I mean how many guys could be named Rocco in New York and New Jersey?

Hey Stanger,
I haven’t been able to read the threads the last couple days (my daughter whom some of you met, graduated hs on Thursday!)
Is there a ticket for me? No pressure or worries. I know I can figure it out either way. Cheers!
Pretty sure he has tix for you. Not sure how many
I have two tix for you now Jahn. Do you need just one?

You know what he’s talking about Stanger, you like to spin stuff almost as much as the media
I get so tired of conservatism being trashed here. If I rebuke a poster for how I see it or feel it, then I’m seemingly trashing or hating on the poster (I’m NOT!). If I simply ignore it, I feel like fake news is prevailing and I was too cowardly to correct some clear and blatant lies.
All I want to do is talk some football here. And yes, I hear ya on your point, Steve… we concur.
Are you saying stangerx misquoted him?
I think it reveals a sick mindset of man who is a Republican? AITA because I think you’re twisted for supporting someone (conservatism-?) who bitches about being called out for lying….lmao. ok!
And if all you wanted to do was talk about football, then talk football…you crack me up!
“If you’re a Republican, you can’t even lie to Congress or lie to an FBI agent…” Gotta admit it is an interesting complaint.
With all the stuff that’s come out about Flonez, most recently Tua saying too many of the plays called with one read and not enough downfield passes, I wonder if he sabatoged Tua on purpose
The short passes, that were the result, are the main reason the media is all over Tua having a noodle arm
MM said Tua only puts enough heat on the ball as is necessary, unlike what Tannehill did early with no touch every pass a fastball
We’ll see the real Tua this year, he has an HC in is corner, an O designed to his strengths, and actual blocking for more than 2 seconds
Is there anything sadder than wanting a glass or maybe a bottle of wine and no corkscrew? I’ve been at my moms for a week, She had Covid and was hospitalized but was released last Friday. I’ve been here since Monday, working from here. She’s not a pleasant person to start with even in the best of times. I know that sounds horrible but it’s true. So I got a bottle of wine today, thought I’d sit and relax a bit this evening but noooo! Anyone know how to get the cork out? I’ve googled but no luck with the methods I tried. I’ve given up. I found two white claws in the small refrigerator on the back porch I know was left since last summer. Hopefully still good, or as good as they were to begin with. 🚫🍷😢
Sorry to read about your mom, Herd. Glad she’s out of the hospital.
I just looked up a method that seems like it really should work, but maybe it’s one of the ones you have tried already. Get a screw into the cork nearly all the way and use a fork to leverage it out.
I tried that. Succeeded in tearing up the top of the cork.
The screw needs to be long enough to all the way through the cork and probably best to use like a 3 inch deck screw…then I would use pliers to tug on it. If tear up the cork into pieces so what. Pour the wine through a strainer to sift the cork.
I’ll say this much… the more and more I hear about Coach McDaniel, the more I’m thinking that this is all too good to be true. DON’T TEASE US!!! LOL
I’m all for the optimism, for sure! But I’m not ready for yet another letdown… PLEASE BE TRUE!!!
GO PHINS!!!
HELL YEAH!!!
Before the season I’m starting to understand why so many players and coaches who’ve been around him think he’s a genius not just in football but in life.

Herd. Find a sharp metal edge outdoors. Line the bottle up and take a couple of practice but slow trials (like a golf waggle if you will. Confidently and quickly swing the bottle THROUGH the metal edge high up on the neck. Quickly upright the bottle to preserve wine. Pour through a strainer I to a caraf or your glass (to ensure no glass is in there).
Been there girl, where there’s a will there’s a way.
Option B destroy the cork with a drill, ice pick, tip of a steak knife or other narrow sharp object. Pour through the strainer to catch the cork bits
Well the breaking the bottle thing seems a little extreme.. lol…but my suggestion and your suggestion about tearing up the cork is probably a better option…lol
I think it might be difficult to strain some cards of glass…just a thought…lol
^chards
Obviously google woulda yielded less barbaric techniques. I just panicked for ya and gave ya the solutions I used in my younger/dumber days when equally desperate.
Touche Krishna. Cooler heads prevail.
Lol
Maybe just order from Drizly get a new bottle and end it! LOL
I’d just cut it out with a knife…and have my wife to drive me to the hospital when I slice my hand open.
Lol…you are not in charge of the wine!
Lol…so many options, Herd, don’t give up.
