Someone posted about a Dolphin aftergame party hosted by those 2 hot chicks at a bar in Baltimore.

I think if I was Phelon, I would have had to go to that after that game. Fuck the danger! It would have been worth it.

  2. Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

Tua in the 4th qtr reminded me so much of his 2018 come from behind win over Georgia to win national championship … and started the “Tua Lore” that in turn started the ‘tank for Tua’ … AND, consequently, has set him up for the Love/Hate over analysis of every time he touches the ball.

Yesterday he showed that he is STILL that guy. McDaniels post game comments were an example of why his QBs have their best seasons under his coaching. McDaniels has created a locker room where they don’t give shit what the ‘talking heads’ on t.v. and social media say. Tua is being “allowed” to lead. Oh, and it doesn’t hurt to have Hill 10 yards past the last defender LOL.

Before starting work… one more comment:

The biggest development over the last two seasons (starting with Waddle and then the overhaul of the rest of WR core) is …

    SEPARATION

2020 I believe our WR/TE group had the lowest separation in the league. I don’t have access but would love to see where they rank now after these first two games….

      Hey Schad
Let me fix this for you:
Tua entered this season with the lowest separation rate for receivers in the league,
      the worst OL,
one of the worst run games,
and a defensive coach for HC
who was trying to use 3 offensive play callers at once.

And he still won 6 in a row and swept New England.

  9. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Not sure I want to give Flo any credit,
maybe the credit should go to Grier for putting this roster together,
    but
ever since the complete tear down,
they have populated this roster with guys who play with heart.

This is the team that turned it around from disaster last year and won 7 in a row.

This is a team that needs 4 TDs in the 4th Quarter against an MVP on the road to win,

    and they can do it.

  10. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

    The best part about yesterday?

The Miami Dolphins to win at M&T Bank Stadium for the first time ever.

    Flying Pig:
    To your point above …
Waddle is so fast that a guy 3 feet away can’t even touch him.

He put a tiny head twitch fake on the guy and the DB’s reaction was equally tiny,
like he froze for .000001 seconds but that was too long and
    boom, Waddle was by him.

    I know this seems preposterous,
and I know I said it also after week 1,
    but

Miami didn’t even play that well.

    !!!

Who thinks we’ll be giving up 103-yard Kickoff returns? like ever again this season?

Who thinks X drops another Pick 6, after he is the leader in INTs for his whole career?

Who thinks we get zero sacks in a whole game very often?

How many times will we be giving up 79-yard QB sneaks?
    (F’ you Josh Allen, don’t even … )

Christian Wilkins was our leading tackler. Where were the linebackers?
    55 and 52 went missing!!!

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

      LOL @ FU Josh Allen.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

The cheats used to win like that all the time SB against Atlanta is an example, play like shit for about 3 quarters, then wake up and everything is rosie

Other games they maybe wouldn’t come all the way back, but down 20+ pts, when they’d get in that comeback mode, the opponent would be terrified and make stupid mistakes

Dallas back in 70s and 80s did the same thing, as do other teams now

I want to be one of those teams capable of a big comeback anytime we get behind

  15. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

In all of this Hill’s greatest hits I’m so glad Waddle has been right there with him

Game 1 started out all Hill before Waddle finally made an impact before the half

Game 2 started out with Waddle…

1 WR can be stopped, trying to stop these 2 is an entirely other animal

  16. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

The Dolphins defense held Baltimore’s rushing attack to -1 yards in the fourth quarter and did not give up a single third down conversion as the Ravens went 0-for-4.

  17. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Regarding that article Krishna posted earlier. I am not worried about the production of a #3 WR in Wilson when you have Hill, Waddle, Gesicki and a slew of receiving RB’s.

Teams will start to game plan for all that and things will open up for Wilson. I expect #’s to be the same for our #3, 4 and 5 WR’s in the game.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

      Agree

We only have to worry about Wilson’s numbers, if Hill and Waddle are getting contained, then maybe our 4th and 5th WRs into that too, so that instead of worrying about Wilson just link them all together

If Hill/Waddle are contained, WRs 3-5 as a unit need to get it done and we have guys that can

  18. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Regardless, Josh Boyer and his crew will need to be much better when Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills come to town next Sunday if they hope to add another notch in the win column.

Nothing passes me off like this type of statement. These same pricks said the same thing after the cheats game

You play the game in front of you, sometimes you need 1 unit to step up at winning time, sometimes you need all 3

If you can make plays, when it counts most, then the rest of it us just stats

No team is playing like Buffalo did week 1 every week

  19. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    If our big 3 is Tua, 🐆 & 🐧

Then our role players are Gesicki, Mostert and Edmunds
And those guys came up big time yesterday when we needed them

Edmunds didn’t do much all game, then in the final drove he has that huge run to set up the go ahead TD

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

      2 + 🐆 + 🐧

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Was glad Mostert was our RB to open the game, he seems like the better runner, able to slip a tackle inside and get more precious yards on early downs

Nothing against Edmonds as he does other things well, just like Mostert to set the tone

As a unit I love what both bring, they compliment each other very nicely

it will be fun to have two undefeated teams next week in a game that means something

  22. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

  34. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

So you assume Tindall isn’t the answer?

MM seems to not want the rookies thrown into the fire yet unless he has to, my guess would be we start to see them week 5 jets, although Kohou has played out of necessity

      • naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Tindal was sick for this game.
I agree that we will see more of him as the season progresses,
but we need a clear upgrade to 52.
We need a blue chip guy.

We’ll forgive him for the whiff block on the sack, because in the end it didn’t matter

What matters most is we don’t have to play close to the perfect game to win

      • naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

hoo boy did he ever miss that block.

threw himself on the ground trying,
but if you’re arriving that late for the block,
at least fall down in front of the rusher to the inside,
so he has farther to run and a worse angle on the sack.

oh well, a cliche bang bang play against a premier pass rusher.

  38. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

Peter King – “Saturday night, Marriott Hotel, suburban Baltimore. Last Dolphins team meeting before facing the Ravens. “I want to see us respond when we don’t have the lead,” Miami coach Mike McDaniel said. “This is the National Football League. It happens. And believe me, fellas, there’s nothing as good as silencing a crowd on the road when the clock hits zero.”

Sunday afternoon, halftime, M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore. Ravens 28, Dolphins 7. A pall over the locker room. McDaniel told his players to forget the scoreboard and just play, and whatever happens, happens, and he had faith in them to play great in the second half. Afterward, he told me he was concerned with what he saw in his players as major adversity struck. “I thought our guys were defeated, and I understood why,” McDaniel told me. “They had high hopes for the game, and it wasn’t starting out that way.”

    Then the “F-it” play happened.

This is a family website, and so McDaniel will have to leave a small bit to the imagination here. But the big play of Miami’s ridiculous comeback, honestly, was called the “F— it” play.

Midway through the fourth quarter, Miami was still down 14, and sputtering, Tua Tagovailoa going incomplete-incomplete, with the clock under eight minutes now, with a third-and-10 at the Baltimore 48-yard line.

“So we had a play ready, in case things weren’t going right, or in case there were various frustrations,” McDaniel said, an hour after the game, just outside the team bus waiting to take the team to the airport. “We installed that play with the expletives, that the quarterbacks knew as the “F— it” play. Tua loved the play. If we really needed to make something happen, that was the play we’d call.”

Well, f—. What the quarterback wants, the quarterback gets…especially when the quarterback is in the midst of the biggest hot streak of his young NFL life.”

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

MM seems to have all the answers so far, but it’s not by accident

He knew the players needed a pick me up, so he gave them the speech of a lifetime at the half, he was also well prepared by having a break glass in case of an emergency play

  39. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

MM risked the game in the first half, with 4th down attempts, that could’ve deflated us, as Flores had done against Buffalo, which helped create the blowout

Not only did this win give Tua confidence it also gave MM some

With this new confidence, that MM has, if he had it before yesterday, would he still make those risky 4th down calls in our own end?

Risk vs Reward, without getting those 1st downs do we still win the game?

Does this new confidence make MM a little more conservative?

  40. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Hill said he wanted to get drunk on YAC before the game. Like Waddle did last week.

    Good job!

  41. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Jevon was also surprisingly quiet in this game,
which I think was a focus of the Harbaugh game plan,
although I think it was Holland
that did get that hit that concussed Duvernay

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

New Stars of the game each week is important, otherwise you have Lebron, Wade and Bosh kind of top heavy teams, where if the star has an off night you like by 20

We don’t need to have everyone at their best to win, that says something about the talent on this team

  42. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

The rest – “At halftime,” McDaniel said to me, “I was focused on guys finishing the game the right way and to our standard. I wasn’t thinking about anything but let’s score on our next possession.”

Finally, early in the fourth quarter, some luck: the Ravens went for it up 35-21 with nine minutes to go, fourth-and-one at the Miami 40-. Two former Patriots, Elandon Roberts and Trey Flowers, stoned Lamar Jackson on a run, and Miami got it back at its 41-yard line.

On third-and-10, McDaniel decided to go for it. F— it. What did they have to lose? The design: Three receivers left, Hill alone on the right, hoping Hill could get two steps on the corner. The cornerback, as it turned out, was an old pro, Marcus Peters. “We had talked the night before at the quarterback meeting,” McDaniel said. “Tua knew he liked the opportunity there. He goes, ‘Yeah, third-and-12, third-and-long, I really like the F-it play.’”

Why? Because who wouldn’t like Hill singled (with sort of passive safety help late, as it turned out) against any corner?

“In practice,” McDaniel said, “we didn’t really execute it well. But give credit to Tua: He didn’t blink.”

Interesting fourth quarter for the Dolphins — duh, of course it would be, scoring 28 on a good team on the road. But there was another reason: The football world wondered if Tagovailoa would be cool connecting with a speed receiver deep downfield. On that play, Tagovailoa threw it 46 yards beyond the line of scrimmage — “air yards,” in modern football lingo — and that would be a trend in this quarter. For the first three quarters, Tagovailoa averaged 5.6 air yards per attempt, per Next Gen Stats. Fourth quarter: 11.1 yards.

Tua wasn’t done. Hill wasn’t done. Next series: third-and-six at the Miami 40-yard line. Were the Ravens feeling the heat of being on the field so much, running so much? Could this be a case of load management catching up with Baltimore, while the Dolphins, after practicing in the oppressive south Florida heat, still had something left? Again, an interesting perspective from Next Gen Stats: Baltimore’s DBs ran a total of 6,131 yards in this game. That’s the most yards any secondary has run in a game since the start of the 2021 season.

And on this play, with Hill singled on the left side against rookie cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis, he blew past Armour-Davis, who looked like he thought he should have safety help. But no safety help was coming. “I knew there was a potential there that they’d go zero [zero coverage, or blitzing and leaving the receivers all singled], so I wasn’t totally surprised because the corner was playing flat-footed, thinking his rush was going to get home.”

Nope. The 60-yard TD to Hill tied it at 35. From there, Baltimore went ahead on a 51-yard field goal from Justin Tucker, and Miami took over at its 32- with 2:12 to go. Who would be surprised that the Dolphins would finish a 547-yard day with a Tua-to-Jaylen Waddle seven-yard TD with 14 seconds left?

“Typically in the NFL, you have to learn hard lessons the bad way,” McDaniel said. “I was proud they were able to learn a lesson of mental fortitude in a game where it got out of hand super quickly. Just play the four quarters and figure it out later.”

But this game was bigger than just that lesson. The outside noise in 2022 football is impossible to ignore, and Tagovailoa has been benched, booed, and questioned in his 29 months in Miami. He had to listen to the Deshaun Watson rumors last year, knowing his coach wanted to take a shot on Watson. Then he had to get used to a new coach who stressed with him over and over that he was the future. And now, after the first two weeks of this season, after going to 4-0 against New England and strafing Baltimore with a six-touchdown game, maybe the world (and Tua himself) will finally believe the quarterback of the future in Miami is the quarterback of the present.

“What’d you say to Tua after the game?” I said to McDaniel.

“I said, ‘The weight should be lifted off your shoulders, man. All you did was do exactly what we talked about. Hopefully at least for a week you can shut up all the people that you’re trying not to listen to.’ I’m hoping Sundays feel different to him now. You need kind of a shock and awe moment for that to happen.”

Throwing four touchdown passes against the Baltimore Ravens in 13 minutes…if that’s not shock and awe, what is? The Tua Era is here.

  43. twicethethe's avatar twicethethe says:

For that video above on the first Tyreek touchdown, I think that safety was suckered into the deep crossing route that Waddle was doing in front of him. Looks like Tua looked Waddle’s way at first and it froze that safety for a moment. Textbook looking the safety off. CB thought he had deep support from the safety. Whoops.

That’s all it takes with the kind of team speed we have. Just a second and it’s all over.

Take the jackoff Brown’s coach for example, when asked why he didn’t instruct his rb to get down after picking up the 1st down, since jets had no TOs left and clock under 2 minutes to go?

You could say Tua still needs to beat the Bills, but I don’t think so, he’s arrived

If we do beat the Bills Sunday the national media should start comparing Burrow and Herbert’s winning percentage with Tua’s, as if his is the high standard

Tight ends Cethan Carter (concussion protocol) and Hunter Long (illness) were inactive.

Running backs Raheem Mostert (39 snaps) and Chase Edmonds (36) were about equal in snaps while full back Alec Ingold had 25 snaps (35%).

Defensively, safety Jevon Holland and linebacker Jerome Baker were the only ones to play all 59 snaps. Cornerback Xavien Howard played 52 snaps (88%) while cornerbacks Nik Needham (26 snaps, 44%), Kader Kohou (25 snaps, 42%) and Keion Crossen (20, 34%) all got a good amount of playing time.”

and this coach will guard against it, too.

  75. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Another example of excellent coaching is how we are handling the practice squad elevations vs. the inactive list.

We brought up a guy off the PS who then makes a TD catch.

    SI.com says

The two players who were active but didn’t play were quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and tackle Larnel Coleman. Coleman was one of two players who were elevated from the practice squad Saturday, but he wasn’t needed because Terron Armstead was able to play all 71 offensive snaps after being listed as questionable on the final injury report of the week.

And how smart was it to stash Cracraft on the PS while protecting Ezukanma on the 53?

EZ would’ve gotten poached as a 4th round pick, especially after his preseason success.
