Meanwhile, in San Diego, and the last I’ve heard, Justin Herbert is still playing through torn rib cartilage… and they lost again yesterday.

According to ESPN, if the season ended today, we’d be the 6th seed in the AFC playoffs. We’re ahead of the Bengals, Chargers, and Colts.

Breece Hall was looking like the ROY candidate for the stej. But now that he’s gone with a torn ACL, I think the stej fall back to Earth.

  5. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

We’re sitting pretty right now at 4-3, believe it or not. 3 more games to go until we get a much-needed bye week to recuperate from some injuries… and all 3 games (Lions, Bears, and Browns) are very winnable.

Hoping that Brandon Jones doesn’t miss much (if any) time, but Eric Rowe is no slouch at Safety.

looking at the standings today, our loss to Cincy doesn’t effect the outcome because of the current three way tie. It COULD come back into play later.

Absolutely correct. That loss to the Bengals could come back to haunt us.

  7. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Look away FB gods look away!

IF we are able to win the next three “winnable’ games we will be sitting at 7-3 going into our buy. That is pretty F’n good. However the Bills are already at 5 wins soo…

  8. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

So McDaniel has proved he is Coach Gunslinger. Not sure I like that, but should make things interesting. And I ain’t buying “the analytics tell me to do it.” How the man rolls.

    • Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

Agreed Stanger. I would have liked to see a short pass there vs. a run, especially with Edmonds running it. Seems like the dude am has lost the ability to catch the ball since he came to us.

  9. Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

The goal line hit on Mostert was clean- Minkah led whit his shoulder perfectly on that play. There was a play on the 3 or 4 where he DID lead with the crown of his helmet on Tyreek I believe. I agree on that Waddle – how was that not unnecessary roughness?

  10. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I see many are down on Coach McDaniel for similar reasons, especially going for it on 4th down last night.

See, I don’t care that he went for it… it’s that he put his faith in Jordan Howard Chase Edmonds, two plays in a row.

JMO, we could have done FAR better than signing Chase Edmonds as a FA. What’s more, Myles Gaskin is exponentially better than Edmonds (again, JMO). Unfortunately, Gaskin wasn’t made active last evening. SMH

This morning I was watching my youtube fishing video’s and I kind of freaked out. You know how they list other video’s off to the side. I caught this title off to the side and was like, shit, I know her or at least sat with her and talked with her and a few other pilots at chow one night after her close call. We were based at the Ahmed Al-Jaber Air Force Base in Kuwait.

I was with Marine Wing Support Squadron 272 supporting the Marine F/A-18 and AV-8B Harrier squadrons during the beginning of the war in 2003.

I remember the flight line going on alert as they didn’t know if she was going to be able to land her A-10. She lost all control after taking the hits and almost had to eject over hostile Baghdad. She switched to manual and was able to get her jet out of a dive and gain control.

I took my own pictures of the aircraft when it was in the hanger. It had hundreds (not an exaggeration) of shrapnel holes. She flew it back a couple hundred miles from Iraq with a damaged engine, no flight controls, no stabilizer. The hydraulics were gone. The landing gear and brakes were out. She had to manually crank the landing gear.

    She is a badass pilot.

  12. Ken's avatar Ken says:

Replace Edmonds with Gaskin. Edmonds blows

    • Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

Yes, but I’m not sure how much salary factors
into that. At least keep the guy active. Edmonds’ okay has significantly decreased in the last 2-3 games.

      • Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

        Play

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

Play the best players screw the salary. If that is the consideration then replace the fools in the organization who believe it. Edmonds has dropped too many passes. He is not as fast as Mostert or Gaskin and has failed miserably in short yardage. Why they are using him in short yardage is also befuddling

Coach says there were 5-6 examples where they just missed on some timing/anticpation. Says that’s the difference between scoring what they did and what they expect, attributes it to fundamentals being just off. The nice part is they know it’s correctable and it comes in a win.

Regarding my last post, I forgot to mention the part that freaked me out.

When you are on youtube and watch certain video’s the algorithm goes to work and puts similar videos off to the side you may be interested in. I never looked for or ever played video’s regarding the Iraq war. Never.

Yesterday, (keep in mind I had my phone in my pocket) I bonded a USAF member out of jail for DUI. In most cases, the military member has to be released to a member of his command or their base military police.

His Senior Master Sergeant came as the command rep. We got to talking while waiting for his Airman to get released. He was there in Iraq same time as me and was an aircrewman on a C-130 and at a different air base in Kuwait.

I told him that story about the A-10 pilot and what the aircraft looked like after she landed. Of course, he remembered it happening.

Next morning (today), I am checking out my fishing videos and boom that video pops up on the side. That’s what freaked me out!

There were Stealers* fans all around us and many many more in attendance.

The thing I found odd was that the Pittsburgh fans were louder than our fans at the times when the other team was on offense, especially 3rd downs.

The Miami fans did cause one botched play when Pittsburgh couldn’t get their guys lined up and had to snap it anyway and messed up a 3rd down. It was down in the end zone where we were sitting.

It would be nice to see a game or two where we don’t lose a secondary player for the year. Injuries have kicked our defense’s butt so far, but the next man up keeps responding.

Our run defense is top 10 this year. The front 7 has been stout, we just need more pass rush. I think all things considered, our D has been pretty decent.

YES, it IS the government. What is it that you don’t seem to understand? The government is free and clear to access any and all domestic phone records under the Patriot Act… and that extends to internet providers, most of which are phone carriers.

Did you really believe that Barack Hussein Obama gave out ‘Obama phones’ for free and out of the kindness in his heart? NO, it came at taxpayer expense and it was used to track EVERYBODY… even the poor.

I understand the ‘data farming’ (which is suspect enough), but don’t try to make it sound as though the government is NOT spying on WE THE PEOPLE: that’s just ignoramus on your part.

My problem with the call wasn’t that we went for it or we ran the ball. My main issue was that we handed to ball to edmunds.

How does a RB NOT see that huge of a running lane?
Armstead is demolishing his man, and the RB ignores his good work.
It would be a sensible policy at RB to ALWAYS run past Terron’s tail.

That’s on McDaniel as well, you don’t go on 4th and take the ball out of the hands of your best players and put it on the hands of one that’s just not playing well. Every single decision in that series in the red zone was dubious.

Or is MM, just smarter, than the rest of us, because he was trying to build the confidence of his back, while expecting to win anyways?

Some of these grades make no sense and why I hate PFF

Sure I didn’t analyze each player like they do, but pretty sure Armstead run blocking and X in coverage were better

The middle-of-the-pack sack numbers (14, 19th in the NFL) could be forgiven if the pressures were there, but it appears opponents have figured out the Dolphins’ tactics. Opposing quarterbacks are getting the ball out at the ninth-fastest rate in the league (2.7 seconds), and in turn, Miami allows the fourth-highest completion percentage in the league.

Anyone know, if Boyer has made the adjustment to the quick passes we’re seeing?

Seems like when your opponent has to change the way they play, based on something you’re good at you’ve already won or have a big advantage

Why is someone always overwhelmed or underwhelmed? Why can’t they be just the right amount of whelmed?

    • herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

      Definition of whelm
      transitive verb
1 : to turn (something, such as a dish or vessel) upside down usually to cover something : cover or engulf completely with usually disastrous effect.

I think you should start using it in your everyday speech without the obligatory over or under. Report back on how it goes.

The Jets are trading for JAX RB James Robinson.
    ————–
This post seemed to go under the radar to most… it’s BIG for the stej, who just lost Breece Hall for the season due to an ACL tear.

Needless to say, this is bad news for us Phins.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Well Hall was playing at a really high level. Robinson has been banged up but yes it was a good pickup for the Jets.

The loss of OL Vera-Tucker was also a big loss for them and it’s more difficult to replace a good young OL in-season.

I am going to ask what so many people are thinking. Why is Eich still the starter? He is rated the worst OG in the league. Dieter has to be better doesn’t he?
    ————–
I’m beginning to feel the same way about Eich. But for whatever it may be worth, I think PFF’s ratings have sucked over the last several years… that establishment has gone downhill over time. Thus, I don’t think Eich should be rated the worst OG in the league.

But he sure as hell has been a disappointment for us to date.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Notre Dame has traditionally produced some of the great O-Linemen over the last decade or so. If memory serves, Eich didn’t allow a single sack in his senior year at Notre Dame… and they ran an outside zone, just as we Phins do.

I don’t understand why he hasn’t blossomed as a Phin… it’s truly befuddling to me.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

If Eich has been that bad I would think the coaches would have replaced him. Maybe they don’t agree with the ratings.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Perhaps Eich practices well but then crashes when the lights are on him? I dunno, but clearly, the coaches see enough good in him to continue playing him. I haven’t a problem with that either, so long as he becomes what he was drafted to become.

But quite honestly, he’s not yet lived up to expectations. I’m pulling for him!!!

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I have to say I don’t know if he’s been that bad or not. Watching on TV I’m not focused on him or any OL. Usually the only time we notice them is if it was a bad play or a great block.

*** Iggy on Sunday allowed six of eight targets to be caught for 68 yards, one touchdown and the interception (a 98.4 passer rating).

*** Bethel permitted seven of nine targets to be caught for 54 yards and an interception (a 52.1 passer rating against).

*** Howard permitted four of five passes to be caught for just 35 yards.

And that’s all the CBs we had.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The reason we’re not getting a lot of sacks is because we’re forcing QBs to get rid of the ball quickly. The reason we’re allowing a high pass completion is because a lot of the throws are short. That’s what we want because we believe the mistakes by the offense will come. That’s our philosophy.

  100. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

“Mostert played 44 snaps and ran 16 times for 79 yards (4.9 per carry). Edmonds played 18 snaps, ran 7 times for 17 yards (2.4 per carry) and dropped a pass for the fourth time this season.”
