I was noticing him looking off safeties as well…THAT is something we have not had around here in I don’t know how long

You’re so silly, Rock. How can Tua look off players if he’s too short and he can’t see over the line? And, how can DBs see Tua looking at them? You’re a silly man, Rock….lol.

    Dolphins
For the past two weeks, the Dolphins (7-3) have been forced to win shootouts because the defense has been struggling, but that wasn’t the case this week. The defense absolutely shut down Nick Chubb while sacking Jacoby Brissett three times. The unit also came up with three big fourth-down stops while also forcing a huge turnover in the first quarter after the Browns had driven inside Miami’s 35-yard line. If the defense catches up to the offense, the Dolphins could become the team to beat in a suddenly wide-open AFC East. Speaking of the offense, it continues to be on fire. The Dolphins have now scored 30 points or more in three straight games for the first time since 2009.

    Cleveland Browns • Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins took care of the Cleveland Browns with relative ease to emerge victorious by a score of 39-17 in Week 10.

Offensive spotlight: Tua Tagovailoa was once again almost flawless for Miami, and the team is still undefeated in games he has both started and finished. Today, he completed 25-of-32 attempts for 285 yards and three scores at 8.9 yards per attempt.

Defensive spotlight: Melvin Ingram III remains an incredibly consistent pass-rusher for Miami, even as they add players to try and upgrade the pass rush. Ingram had a pair of sacks and an absurd pass-rush win rate of 45.8%

Rookie spotlight: Six different rookies played at least 10 snaps on offense or defense for the Browns. Martin Emerson gave up two catches for 29 yards, including a touchdown at cornerback.

Offensive line spotlight: Cleveland’s offensive line — one of the best in the league — was overwhelmed by Miami’s pass rush and blitz. Quarterback Jacoby Brissett was under pressure on 40.5% of his dropbacks.

Dolphins Lose Ogbah for the Season
Defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah was injured during the Miami Dolphins’ 39-17 victory against the Cleveland Browns
    ALAIN POUPART9 HOURS AGO
A great day for the Miami Dolphins that featured a fourth consecutive victory and taking over first place in the AFC East also included some disappointing news.

Defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah will miss the rest of the season because of an elbow injury he sustained in the second quarter of the 39-17 victory against the Cleveland Browns at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday, according to a league source.

The Dolphins announced at the time of the injury that Ogbah was questionable to return, then ruled him out as the second half began.

ANOTHER BLOW TO THE DOLPHINS DEFENSE
Ogbah becomes the third significant player the Dolphins defense has lost to a season-ending injury in 2022.

The first was cornerback Nik Needham, who sustained an Achilles injury in the Week 6 loss against the Minnesota Vikings. He was followed by safety Brandon Jones, who sustained a torn ACL the following week in the Sunday night game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Linebacker Trey Flowers also landed on IR after being injured in the Minnesota game, though his foot injury was not described as necessarily season-ending at the time.

And, of course, the Dolphins have played all season without starting cornerback Byron Jones, who is still recovering from offseason leg surgery.

    • ukfinfan's avatar ukfinfan says:

I wonder if Arch considered that we may just have been a move ahead of the Browns in chess terms and thought that’s what they’d try to do, or maybe were good at, so we attacked a perceived weakness? The result certainly suggests we didn’t go strength-strength. They were out-coached and out-played.

Ken – Joe Rose interviewed Bradley Chubb this morning on WQAM. He asked Chubb “Are you a linebacker, or defensive end?” Chubb said “I’m an edge rusher”. If you take that literally, he’s not playing on the inside on the DL like Ogbah or Wilkins do. He wants to be out there on the edge, which means either 3-4 OLB or 4-3 DE

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

He is used as DE. He is hand on the ground to rush the passer. He is not out in space like Phillips. As I said we are not a true 3-4 or 4-3. But Chubb is not going to be asked to cover a back. He is attacking the LOS every down

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

Also Ogbah really didn’t play inside. He was usually on the end. Ogbah is a DE

  56. Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

Jeff Wilson is #12 in rushing yards with SF/Miami combined. This could very well end up being a more impactful move than the one for Chubb.

  57. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Great win, best takeaway was the late sack, when Chubb, Phillips and Wilkins met at the Brisket

Seemed like the D is finally generating some passrush without blitzing

Tua was Tua again, nice to see him hit someone other than Waddle and Hill

Running game has gone from all Mostert, to making Mostert look pedestrian, when he gets a 21 yard td, 65 yards at 8.1 per carry, because of Wilson

  62. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

One thing we have in common with Eagles is we don’t beat ourselves

Was pissed at the playcall of Minnesota on 4th down with 50 seconds left, and everyone was moving at the snap except Cousins, they made up for it in the most improbable way, why did they have to though

  63. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

    On Piss and Cherios

Seems every time we get in a good position in the standings or playoff race, we take a step back, thus year after beating Buffalo, last 2 years last couple of games we were in the playoffs, if they ended then

This team feels different though, we can score with anyone and seem to be able to make big stops

  64. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Buffalo is at their lowest point since the playoff choke last year, they’ll be back though, hopefully not better than ever

Going to be a dogfight for the division, all 4 teams likely control their own destiny

  65. Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

  68. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Stats and wins are great, although it’s the feel of what to expect, that’s been really pleasant, not since Marino

What I have loved so far this year…

  69. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

I wouldn’t put Hurts in the top 4 for MVP, he’s got good not great numbers, it’s the overall team play though, that has them undefeated

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

  70. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

For the Dolphins to take over the #1 seed during their bye, we only need two things to happen.

  76. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

    These 3 things happened yesterday:

1 — the rushing attack exploded.
2 — Hill and Waddle had relatively modest days.
3 — Tua hit a lot of recievers not named Hill and Waddle.

Was that McDaniel changing the scheme cause the Browns were in full defense mode against the Blurr Bros?

  77. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Wilson almost completes the O, we need a TE, all of them are disposable, the way Edmonds was, please take them all

Apparently, the official statistician (less evil twin of the official spotter)
awarded a half a sack each to the DB and LB who corralled Ced Wilson on that crummy trick play.

Yes and he’s already bought into WRs blocking, then when asked why he’s getting more snaps than Wilson, MM smiles and pulls out the blocking tape

We’re better off with Sherfield as our #3, Than we are with Wilson (blocking), even if they’re the same as a receiver

  80. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I LOVED the fullback love shown yesterday! #30 was killing it! (highest rated player by PFF)

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

When things are working it’s easier for everyone to do their job, Ingold was the beneficiary yesterday, sure he played a great game, but his rating was team aided

Because of the emergence of Tua, the OL looks better, than they are too

  81. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Mostert is pure speed, so it is great to have his breakaway threat
to balance the somewhat slower Wilson,
but, as such, he’s more inclined to be hurt.

I love it that we now have a hard-nosed durable RB
to take the load off Mostert because we want to
still have Raheem’s speed available in January.

    and February.

  82. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Likewise, it is great to be able to win (easily?) without requiring Hill to get 150 yards, because the law of averages will dictate that that won’t always happen.

And Waddle (and Hill) not taking 12 tackles every week is also good,
because we want them to be there to hoist the Lombardi.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Did you notice Hill on the catch he made across the middle?

I’ve never seen him run that quick and fast

As if he had some extra energy to burn off, hungry to make a play

X against NE, the game he save with a fumble recovery also fits that mold somewhat

  83. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

All snarky insults aside, I honestly do think they need to get a mental health professional in to work with Sanders. I have said that before about other place kickers on other teams. His leg did not suddenly go weak. (There was no injury.)

Some of our past PKs got the yips for us, and we let them go, and they went to other teams and had good careers. They just needed the proverbial “change of scenery.”

I think Sanders has excellent leg strength. His kickoffs are mostly unreturnable.

It would be a shame to trash that just to get every single PAT, as missed PATs are much less likely to hurt a team than repeatedly giving opponents short fields off the KO, even though missed PATs are infuriating. They are soooo obvious, but they are just one point.

Sanders has also kicked successfully from 50+ on numerous occasions.

  84. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Now ST Coach Crossman is an entirely different matter.
I have really lost faith in him.

And it’s not just one facet. Our coverage units are shaky, our punt returns are lousy, we have had blocked kicks, messed up fake punts, worthless onsides, but the worst part to me is the blocking that allows so much penetration on every kick.

PATs ought to be close to automatic, but I see guys crashing in on the holder on nearly every kick, even PATs. This can destroy rhythm and confidence in the kicker, and what if Mostert gets hurt while holding? That would be a huge loss, as his punts are awesome (when needed).

  85. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I think our kickoff coverage team falls asleep because Sanders almost always kicks it out of the EZ, so they just stroll down and fail to fill their lanes.

Didn’t we give up an opening KO TD against the Ravens?

A sleep-walking coverage team is the fault of the ST Coach.

  86. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    Stanger

I think those checkdowns to the running backs are part of our regular scheme that we just haven’t utilized yet

Prior to yesterday we were able to rely on 🐆, 🐧 and Gesicki and when we checked down edmunds was dropping easy catches

I don’t think we adjusted or even gameplanned for it. The browns just overcompensated for waddle and hill and left it wide open.

Tua just took what the defense gave him

It started happening early in the game, so I don’t really think that’s an adjustment

Maybe it was discussed this week knowing the browns don’t cover RBs well? 🤷🏽‍♂️

But I think it’s there for us in most games

The browns definitely were doing something to take away the deep middle area we usually utilize – those are just check down passes IMO

“The browns just overcompensated for waddle and hill and left it wide open.” — was my first thought as well. And even if want Hill to break 2k…. I’m happy it happened. Proved we have more than Hill and Waddle to go with.

While I do love Coach McDaniel and think he is a genius, I do think we should’ve kicked the FG instead of going for it on 4th and 1. Again.

I know maybe he has lost a little trust in Sanders, but still …

I also question his putting in Skylar. I know that giving the kid some reps is a smart thing to do, but Tua only needed about 15 yards passing or so to set a record.

And that type of record is a hard one to set in that it bridges multiple games.

Oh well, maybe it is wise to keep Tua hungry to set more records. Maybe McDaniel is using his master psychologist hat on Tua to start a fresh string of 300+ yard, 3 TD, 0 INT games.

I disagree on this one as well. I was glad we went for it. Was not glad that they didn’t execute the play properly, but was not upset by the going for it of trying to run it either.

        I like getting points.
Once that 3 is on the scoreboard,
        they cannot take it away.
And the other team must match it or LOSE.

A first down does not score a single point.
If we had gotten that 4th and 1,
there was no guarantee we would’ve gotten any points.

A team can have 10 more first downs or a hundred more first downs than the opponent.
        No one cares.
The only thing that matters is the W-L record.
And you only get the W by scoring more points.

    Ken
It looks like you might’ve been right to want to bench Eich,
as Jones has come in and mauled and opened meaningful holes.

I am not an OL guru,
so I defer to you guys to know whether Jones gets the credit or what,
but wow if we can get our OL to give up few or no sacks
    and
get our RBs to average 6-7 YPC,
we literally cannot be stopped from marching right down the field every drive.

  89. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Naples, one point is all you need to win a game sometimes. I would rather our kicker only kick to the 5 yard line every kick off than miss two extra points in a season.

    CUT BAIT.

We need a new kicker. They should never have given him the big contract.

I was calling for his replacement last season and this offseason.

I WILL be drafting kickers again in my mock drafts this offseason.

    • naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

See now, IMHO, this is inconsistent with what you are saying above.
If 1 point matters so much to you,
then why not kick the “easy” FG and collect 3x a PAT.

While it’s true that games are lost by a single point,
games are very rarely lost by a missed PAT.

The Browns have a very highly rated defensive backfield
with ball skills and real speed.
Emerson and Ward are the real deal.

And yet, we got small but juicy chunks nearly every catch.
    Waddle averaged 16.5
    Gesicki 15.5
    Sherfield 15.8
    even the FB 11.2
    RB Wilson 12
Hill only 8.8, but that is almost funny,
since everyone knows he can take any catch to the house.
And indeed, one of his short yardage catches went for 6.

    just a total beat down

The opening kickoff was similar to the the one against the Ravens, right down the middle and about at the goal line, when I saw the kick go to that spot on Sunday, I was already saying oh shit before he started running

    • naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

      yep me too,
and that’s why I like having Sanders,
because he rarely gives them that chance.

When Sanders F’s up and kicks it a few yards short,
Crossman needs to have his guys cover th ehell out of those, not fall asleep.

ORRRR, do it like NE does,
and the Ravens I think also,
where they pop the ball up with hang time to land on the 3 on purpose,
so the returner is seduced into a bad decision to run it back
and only gets short of the 20.
Thus the KO team nets “hidden yardage”
and forces the opponent to travel a long field.

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

Just about every kicker gets touchbacks routinely since they advanced the spot of the ball. That is not a talent unique to Sanders and it easily replaced
