The Miami Dolphins now at 7-3 come into the unfriendly confines of Met Life Stadium in New Jersey, on the very first NFL game to be played on Black Friday, otherwise known as the day after Thanksgiving Day. Defensively, the Dolphins are about the healthiest they have been all season, especially with the triumphant return of CB Jalen Ramsey who missed the first 9 games. The defense is intact, but unfortunately that is not the case on offense. The unit that carried the team for most of the season, the high flying 33 + points per game unit is suddenly awash with injuries. RG Robert Hunt who hadn’t missed a game since he was drafted in 2020 missed the last 2 games against the Chiefs and Raiders and will most likely miss this contest against the Jets. Rookie sensation RB De’Von Achane returned last week only to get hit on the same troubled knee and he is QUESTIONABLE to play as well. RB Raheem Mostert will play, but he is banged up with ankle and knee issues, although that shouldn’t derail him from getting the majority of the touches on Friday.
RG Robert Hunt hadn’t missed a game in his career until the overseas game in Germany against the Chiefs. He missed last week’s game against the Raiders after our BYE week and it appears as if he will be sitting this Friday’s game out as well. WE have struggled this season against strong defenses and the Jets have one of the better units in the NFL, especially the D-line. We’ll be sending out LT Terron Armstead, LG Liam Eichenberg, C Connor Williams, RG Lester Cotton and RT Austin Jackson. They will be facing a talented group led by DT Quinnen Williams. In addition, the Jets have Quinton Jefferson, John Franklin-Myers, Bryce Huff and Solomon Thomas, who in total have 17 sacks. They also have a solid LB crew led by former Ravens LB C.J. Mosley. Mosley leads the Jets in tackles with 101 (55 solo). In the secondary, the Jets feature one of the best young DB’s in the game, CB Sauce Gardner. If we’re going to score points on the Jets, we’re going to have to earn them.
The Jets defense is allowing 20.4 points per game to opposing offenses, good for #11 in the NFL. The Dolphins defense is more liberal allowing points, although with Ramsey back in the fold, and a healthy Jaelan Phillips, and I’d be foolish not to mention the resurgence of LB Bradley Chubb as well, the defense has been more stingy as of late. The last 3 games we’ve allowed only 17 points per game, but I think we’re trending to do even better. The Jets offense has been scoring an even 15 points per game. The Jets have scrapped the Zach Wilson offense and have handed the keys to journeyman QB Tim Boyle, Aaron Rodgers understudy in Green Bay. He’s also played for the Chicago Bears, and the Detroit Lions as he made his way through the NFC North. In all, Boyle has completed 60.8% of his passes for 607 yards, 3 TD’s and 9 INT’s. Not a sparkling resume by any means.
What the Jets offense does bring to the table that can give the Dolphins trouble are 2 young stars, WR Garrett Wilson, and more so RB Breece Hall. Both early draft picks in 2022, The Jets definitely hit on 2 stars with Wilson (RD1 pick #10) and Breece Hall (RD2 pick #36). Breece Hall however, is the one that concerns me more than Wilson in this matchup. I feel like with a healthy Xavien Howard, a healthy Jalen Ramsey, and Kader Kohou or Nik Needham in the slot, along with safeties DeShon Elliott and Jevon Holland, we can contain Wilson. RB Breece Hall started out last season on fire before getting injured in game #7. He is no doubt fully recovered and right back to being a punishing, shifty, elusive back. Hall has 544 yards rushing for a nice 4.6 yards per carry. Consider the fact he’s doing this with no complementary passing game and it’s more impressive. Dalvin Cook who the Jets traded for early on never really became a part of the offense. RB Israel Abanikanda who a lot of you guys liked around has been all but forgotten so far.
What it really comes down to, as always is what version of each team shows up. The Jets have had some excellent efforts this season, upsetting the Buffalo Bills 22-16 in the season opener, and then taking down the then undefeated Philadelphia Eagles 20-14. In both cases, it the defense that made it happen, and I feel like that’s the way they will need to win at Met Life tomorrow. Which Dolphins offense shows up tomorrow, the offense in the first 6 games that scored an unbelievable 37 points per game, or the offense that has scored a very humble 20.5 points per game over the last 4 games? That’s quite a disparity and a huge concern. We have struggled against strong defensive teams and the Jets are exactly that. Mike McDaniel is going to have to come up with a way to get more players involved and more importantly, successful against the Jets. Sauce Gardner will probably be on Tyreek Hill as much as possible, so Jaylen Waddle, Cedrick Wilson Jr., River Cracraft and if possible, even Braxton Berrios need to step up and make plays. RB Jeff Wilson Jr., who was a healthy scratch last week will be active tomorrow and be 2nd string to Raheem Mostert as De’Von Achane will probably rest after being injured Sunday and not play in the short week. Unfortunately, RB Salvon Ahmed was lost for the rest of the season with a foot injury.
Division games are always difficult, and the Jets will be fired up playing at home on the first Black Friday NFL game. The Jets window to remain in contention could close with a loss to put them at 4-7 on the season. On the other hand, a big division win against the first place Dolphins could energize the team and the fanbase. A Jets win would have every team in the division at 2-2 and bring them one game closer, especially considering how the Buffalo Bills are struggling. My first thought is that will be a very low scoring game, I’ll be pretty surprised if both teams combined score 30 points. I feel like the Jets are going to throw everything they can at us, including fakes, on side kicks, trick plays etc. This is damn near a must win for the Jets. If we want to be close to a top seed in our conference, it’s a must win for us to keep up with the Ravens who at 8-3 are the #1 seed, then the Chiefs and Jaguars. I took a look at the injury report, EVERY Dolphins player injured logged in a LIMITED practice with the exception of WR Braxton Berrios. Some are precautionary and conservative due to the short week like Raheem Mostert, Alec Ingold, Tyreek Hill, Terron Armstead, Austin Jackson, and Lester Cotton. TE Durham Smythe will surely be QUESTIONABLE, and one of the less likely QUESTIONABLE players to play. We could certainly use his blocking, but TE’s Julian Hill and Tyler Kroft got the job done last week. Let’s all hope our offense returns to early season form and the defense continues it’s trend of being stingy to opposing offenses scoring.

GO DOLPHINS!!!

We’re running to the outside much better than I expected
Waddle grabbing his side. Hope it’s not that oblique.
another drop by Hill, who leads the league. Hand is an issue today
Nice hands, Wilson!
Like how we’re sticking with the run 2nite
We’re moving the ball. Just need to get points on this drive
lol, that throw
you don’t need a gun when you can place the ball like that
Exactly
Great pass. Vintage Tua
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Nice
K quit fucking around and get a damn TD
Good job
Woohooooo
Fuck yeah Dolphins. This is exactly what you needed to do. All 3 units getting it done the way they should. Get another stop here D and finish this half out strong, team.
Now let’s demoralize them and knock their dicks in the turf
Love the defenses energy today. They came to play!
We are beating up a wounded sloth
I don’t know if the Jets’ punt coverage sucks or if we are blocking better, but this is the best I’ve seen them all year by far
Phillips have a monster game
Christian Wilkins!!!
He looked unstoppable on that sack
Indeed!!!
Wilkins and Phillips playing hard
Nice!! Now, no TOs, get at least a couple 1st downs, flip the field and get out of this half with a shutout. Score a TD here and you put the game away, but just flipping the field is enough.
BALL SECURITY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING. WE CAN NOT LOSE IF WE DON’T TURN IT OVER.
Running game opening up the passing game
Yep
Nice, now end the half after you eat up the clock with a TD and this will be a very nice half.
We are doing what good teams do to bad teams. Can’t ask for more so far. Didn’t like going for it on 4th in Q1 but otherwise, promising
Commentators curse
So much for that! Lol
We can’t add that to the end of the kick?>
No cheap points here
^
I would have kicked again
Started out wearing my #10 Hill throwback, then I started eating Buffalo wings and that baby came right off!
😂
Kohou!!!!
Ok, one more try.
I’m ok with conservative here. Don’t do anything crazy. We’ve got a shutout and 2 score lead going into the half.
Get the ball to start the 2nd half.🙂
Yep, we’re set up nice!
I doubt they would call a timeout if they were going to be real conservative
oops
Bit louder so coach can hear it please Kong
I knew the jests were goi g to grow it to a rb in the flat.
What a joke. No wonder they can’t convert 3rd downs
un fucking real
The one thing you can’t do
Fucking awful throw
I knew it
I knew they would do something dumb
I said it last week, more bad things happen in this situation than good things. I put that partially on McDaniel
He is a genius. There is a very fine line between there and insanity
I was hoping we would just run out the clock
Casual pick-6 toss
Ugh
Svucks
This is going to be an ugly game. Why even throw there.
Now go score!
Why defer of you are goi g to call a time out to get the ball back with 1 minute in the half with a 10 point lead
You are just taking risks you don’t need to and you set yourself up not to take
Agreed
Again. We just continually shoot ourselves in the foot.
Berrios has no vision on his returns.
And now a penalty on special teams, go 3 and out here, they can get the ball back. I love McD, but against this D we should have fucking ran the goddamned ball
Amazing we are only
Up
By 4 points
Another pick
Stupid
When is our head coach going to learn? Now they get a hail mary
Fuck’n A
Tua with 5 minutes of WTF
HOLLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Holy shit!
Take that !!!!!!!!!!!!
Brilliant decision by McDaniel!!!! The ‘ol let them throw a hail mary so we can run it back play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
😂
😂😂
We’ll take it. Right, brother? lol
Ahahhhhhahhhhahhhahhha
Well there is something you don’t see every day
Lmao at Boyles tackle attempt
Yeah that was unfortunate
Let’s goooooooooo! Holland!!!!!!!
🤪
Let’s just run every play the second half. We can just go into victory formation
McDaniel playing chess to my checkers.
We’ll throw a pick 6 so they can miss an extra point, then give it back to them for hail mary turned Dolphins TD—–net result, Dolphins lead by 11 instead of 10.
Nice job, coach, lol.
Didn’t see that coming
It’s Jets/Dolphins nothing is ever normal.🤣
This offense needs to get its shit together. They keep stopping themselves more often than not.
It may be because of the type of offense we run, that is so much about precision, but Tua seems to have one of these god awful passes every game, and yeah, when teams force us to drive without the big play, we stop ourselves as often as not.
Most of the season Randy. Two games with gaudy numbers, the rest so so
Tua just tied his season career record of 10 INTs… within under minutes. Sloppy, sloppy on Offense.
If you’re going to lob the ball in the flat, you better damn well make sure no defender is within 5 yards
Tua is no longer a front-runner for NFL MVP… and it took under one NFL minute. SMH
Those 2 picks by Tua were very bad. He has been doing that a lot more lately. Those were just bonehead plays on his part. Should have just thrown both of them away.
He should feel lucky the D is saving his ass this game.
Yeah, Reek dropped it but should have gotten the points with a FG early on. You take the points every time when you are playing against a good defense.
Tua gave their D a lot of confidence the last half of that second quarter. They will be bringing it to start the 3rd.
I’ll say it again, loud and clear (as we all know it to be true)- THE ONLY WAY WE LOSE THIS GAME IS BY TURNING THE BALL OVER. PROTECT THE BALL. PUNTING IS OK TODAY.
Kong,
Yeah, I said the same thing a month ago. This offense can be potent, but it’s gotta be precise. If you’re gonna be a finesse offense, you gotta have a high level of execution. Still time for a big half tho!
I’ll take it against this Jets team
The little things
https://twitter.com/Dbolt48/status/1728164742940782617
Don’t forget we are playing a really good defense
Why were we even throwing those out routes against a team that has good aggressive corners? I like when we stick with the basics over getting too cute.
Another perfect pass. Credit where it’s due
All you have to do is not take a sack there. Now it’s a long fg. Come on Sanders
Better than a sloppy pic
true that
Sanders over 50 🤔
Two games in a row!
I know. If he can do that it could be huge in the playoffs
Good opening drive. Hopefully Sanders getting his mojo back!
big time kick
thank you, sanders
just get points where you can
Jest can’t come back from a 2 TD deficit unless we turn it over
I’m beating a dead horse with the turnover thing, but it really is all that matters at this point
Agreed . Start feeding the RBs the rock more.
It could’ve been 23-6 now. Won’t affect tge outcome of this game but it might one day. Learn from your mistakes MM
I think Wilkins swallowed Boyle
Where are all the Wilkins na-sayers today?
With the Phillips na sayers
Putting the ball on the ground again, good heavens, you guys are killing me, lol.
Flag for no yards on the return??
STs very spotty too
A couple of 1st downs on this drive is a win, and a punt isn’t a bad thing
I agree grind the clock. The Jets aren’t the 85 Bears against the run.
Well done.
Offense grinding nicely
Furious that the pick 6 ruined the shutout
Oh oh 3rd and short….
FINALLY a run up the middle on short yardage…and it worked. This is a fantastic drive
🍻
Finally a conservative run on 3rd and short
Gee, Armstead injured again. Anyone surprised, smh
Thank you Jets
bone head
