There are opinions all over the place as to what the Dolphins need to accomplish in the 2024 NFL Draft. There are some that are hyper focused on improving the team for the 2024 season, and basically at the cost of the future of the team. Just win this year! While I understand there is an artificial timetable in place, some due to salary cap issues, others due to how long WR Tyreek Hill will be in a Dolphins uniform, and of course the elephant in the room, the looming contract extension for QB Tua Tagaovailoa which could potentially free up some cap space this season, yet hamper us in the future. Looking at the current roster, it’s easy for this author to see the gaping hole left by RDE Christian Wilkins, and also the potential holes on the OL, despite LT Terron Armstead not retiring, the signing of OC Aaron Brewer from the Titans, and swing OT Jack Driscoll, and the one year deal for OG Isaiah Wynn. As to which is line is more desperate for help, the O-line or the D-line, that depends on your viewpoint.
To make the case for the O-line is easy. LT Terron Armstead has played more than 10 games 5 times in his 11 year career, and has never played an entire season. He almost retired, I could imagine there was some begging done by GM Chris Grier and HC Mike McDaniel, so Armstead remains an active NFL player. In 5 years, Isaiah Wynn has gone over 10 games once, and has also never played an entire season. He was the starting RT in 2022 for the Patriots and managed just 9 games. Last season with the Dolphins, Wynn played in 7 games before being out for the season. OC Aaron Brewer actually started every game for the last seasons for the Tennessee Titans. Durability is not his issue, it’s pass blocking. He’s not the worst rated OC, he’s just been less than average. RG Robert Jones played well in a backup role for the Dolphins over 3 seasons and he has been a starter for 13 games in 3 seasons. RT Austin Jackson missed one game last season, and his play has been the best in his 4 year career as a Dolphins player. We also have a few guys capable of stepping in for spot start duty such as the aforementioned swing tackle Jack Driscoll, swing tackle Kion Smith, OG/C Liam Eichenberg who played both last season, and OG Lester Cotton. Depth is not the issue, quality along the interior line is questionable and every interior OL is a decent injury risk. Another issue is you have to bank on this being Terron Armstead’s farewell season.
For the D-line, in my eyes, the case is even easier. We brought in a bunch of players for the D-line to join incumbent LDE Zach Sieler. The problem is, with the exception of NT Benito Jones (6’1 335), who may possibly be an upgrade over NT Raekwon Davis, Da’Shawn Hand is not an adequate replacement for RDE Christian Wilkins. It’s funny how departed players get completely under appreciated now that they’re gone. Christian Wilkins who played every single game and over 80% of the snaps and had the most tackles in the history of the NFL for a DT in his first 5 seasons. “He made no impact, no pro bowls!” they scream. I’m going to be shocked if a D-lineman isn’t our first pick at #21. It could be Byron Murphy II, or “Johnny” Newton, or possibly even T’Vondre Sweat, although he currently projects more as a NT.
How the draft actually plays out though could definitely impact which direction we go. In other words if a bunch of interior O-lineman come off the board before we pick at #21, or we trade back, and there’s only one IOL we have an early grade on, we may draft the IOL. On the other hand, the same could happen at DT. We may like only one or 2 guys early and if the other is gone, we may want to pull the trigger to get the one we want, full well knowing he won’t make it to #55. Despite priority, sometimes you have to get the best player at a position of need, and both lines are very needy!
Now, back to your favorite topic. Look away Tua defenders, if you must! All I want is to have a winning team, and by winning, let me reiterate by saying to me, winning is a team that can compete in the post season, in big games at the end of the season, especially those games that decide whether we play at home or travel to another stadium where the weather will negatively affect the entire team. I’m a Dolphins fan through and through, and a football fan for who follows the game pretty closely. I fully understand it’s a team effort to win a game, but when your QB, the most player on the roster can’t elevate his team, and more importantly elevate his own play to help the team, then you’re not going to be a winning team. I’m not putting up stats, because certain people, and you know who you are just ignore them anyway. QB Brock Purdy isn’t a particularly athletic QB. He had 144 yards rushing during the 2023 season for the Niners. In the playoff game against the Detroit Lions, Brock Purdy did what he had to do. He rushed for a super important 48 yards on 5 carries. The first big run was a 21 yard scramble to the Lions 4 yard line with the Niners trailing 24-17. That set up the game tying TD late in the 3rd QTR. The next big play was another scramble by Purdy in the 4th QTR with the Niners leading 27-24, from the DET 49 yard line, a 21 yard run to the DET 28 yard line. That set up yet another TD for the Niners as they held on for a 34-31 victory. The Niner defense wasn’t great, you can’t always count on that, but Purdy made some huge plays to help his team win. If we gave up 31 points and lost 31-14, you guys would finger point at the defense, despite the QB and the offense only scoring 14 points.
So that’s pretty much it in a nutshell. You need the QB to do more in big games, if you want to win in the NFL. In the last 2 seasons, that has not been the case. 2 seasons ago Tua was injured and couldn’t get us a win in games 12 through 15, so four games with the season on the line, in which we scored 18.10, 17 and 16 points against the Niners, Chargers, Bills and Packers. Then of course his season was over and that left 1st year QB, 7th RD pick, Skylar Thompson to battle the Patriots and the Jets, and then ultimately, the Bills in a wild playoff loss. This past season, with 5 games to go and a 3 game lead in the division. Against the Titans, zero TD’s, zero INT’s. We lose in a heartbreaker 28-27. We play the hapless Jets and we dispense with them easily 30-0. Then we eke out a 22-20 win against the visiting Cowboys, the NFL version of the Miami Dolphins, who can’t beat winning teams either (It’s a narrative!) Then the wheels come off against the mighty Ravens, who by the way, managed to keep their star DT and paid him! We manage to allow the Ravens 56 points, while only scoring 19 ourselves. Then the coup de grace, the season finale against our division rival Buffalo Bills. Our QB can only manage 1 TD and 2 INT’s, and while the Bills QB wasn’t much better, he had 2 TD’s and 2 INT’s and 1 fumble, but that guy is relentless! He had 15 rushes for 67 and carried and ran over Dolphins defenders all game and helped them win.
In summation, some people here scoff at Josh Allen because he’s not an accurate passer. He’s not. He can probably throw it 70-80 yards, but who knows where it’s going to land. On the other hand, he’s a winner! He’ll do whatever it takes to win, put his body on the line, damn the future, damn his life, he’s going to get it done. Yes, I understand he’s as big or bigger than a LB, so what? He may not always be pretty, but he will take the hits, and he will deliver the hits, and he will help his team win games. I love his spirit, I wish our QB had the same indomitable spirit. I wish he could help us win some big games, not in Week 3, but in Week 15, 16, 17 and 18 and then if we qualify, in the post season. If Tua isn’t the guy that can deliver that, then it’s time to move on and find the QB that can, and you keep trying until you find him, even if it takes another 20 years!

First?
Mike, Austin Jackson has already been signed to a “long term” extension. He got a 36M 3 year extension this past off season.
Thanks, I was fired up writing this article. lol
Thanks Mike E.
I’ve come to the conclusion this entire NFL thing is about luck. The players you draft, the injuries, etc. You mention Purdy. Prime example. How lucky was SF? What if Garrapolo and that other guy didn’t get injured? He would have been on the bench and probably cut after a year or two. Instead, he’s turned out to be a really good player. Makes you wonder how many like him never saw the field?
On the other hand, how many early round busts are there? Players that are supposed to be great and end up gone in a few years.
Luck. It’s that or these scouts have no idea what they’re doing.
You’re welcome! So are we lucky we have Tua, or unlucky? 😂
I’m middle of the road with him. He’s not the greatest. On the other hand, he’s not the worst out there. I’ve said before he hasn’t played well enough to get a record breaking deal. But he’s not bad either. 🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
He’s done exactly what they asked him to do. So this year, they need to tell him to dial back that ‘play cautious’ or whatever it was a smidge or two.
And maybe we get lucky ! 😁
That’s fair. He’s far from the worst. I want to see more from him this year, I hope he can deliver

@AdamSchefter
Trade: Eagles are sending edge-rusher Haason Reddick to the New York Jets for a conditional 2026 third-round pick that could be a second, sources tell ESPN. The 2026 pick becomes a 2nd if Reddick has 67.5% playtime this season and has 10 or more sacks. If not, it’s a 2023 third
This really sucks! He has been a sack master and been a fan of him for a while now. Wanted us to sign him years ago before we signed the now 30 million a year Chubb.
Interesting on Mostert. So we have him though 2025 now. I wonder if they pushed any money past 2025 to hit as dead money when he is a FA? It is becoming the norm now on a lot of these contracts they are doing.
he signed a 2 year deal
he was set to be a free agent after 2024
so he added an extra year to his contract
that’s not typically the kind of thing that should lead to pushing back money from 24 to 25
his cap hit goes down in 24, but it might just be bc he added a year
technically his cap hit for 2025 was zero….now it’s not….lol
Piggy, they have done it on about 11 players now. Been posting about all the dead money in 2026 and beyond on players getting extended or just reworked to clear cap. We have 26 million in 2026 dead cap on players who will be FA.
We have 23 million in dead money on 11 players who will be FA in 2027.
Will just have to wait and see when his new contract hits if they did the same with Mostert’s contract.
It would not surprise me.
yeah but isn’t that when they have 2-3 years left
I wouldn’t be surprised either based on the pattern
basically my guess is adding a year to a contract that was going to expire doesn’t really call for it
No, zero years left. They are free agents and we still have money counting against our cap on them.
The contract on Shaq Barrett is an example. He is a FA in 2025 but we have a dead cap hit on him for another 4.4 million in 2025.
there is some talk about OG Dalton Risner being a d the Dolphins
basically he fired his agent and hired Drew Rosenbus who makes his home in So. Fla (is probably a Dolphins fan) and has a good relationship with Grier
Risner had a promising start to his career making the all rookie team and then only missing 4 games in his first 4 seasons
but he’s had a couple of big injuries in the last 2 seasons
he obviously still wants to play – not sure if he’s a fit here or but it’s an interesting option
I posted yesterday that the Dolphins were in contact with a vet FA guard and were going to revisit talks after the draft if the dolphins miss their guy in the draft. My 2 guesses were Cody Whitehair and Risner. Maybe it is Risner. I don’t know.
@LylesFrede53962
Qwan Tez Stiggers, CB – Toronto Argos will be visiting NFL Miami Dolphins on April 1 (Top 30)
————-
@flasportsbuzz
Agent Fred Lyles mentioned to me this week that his client, who had 5 INTs in first year in CFL last year, will visit Dolphins Monday. Didn’t play college football. Attended high school in Atlanta.
Mike, it’s not that Wilkins isn’t appreciated it’s the contract he got was elite money and he’s not elite. Elite players make pro bowls and all pro. The same with Hunt. Nobody on this blog thought those two guys were getting the contracts they got.
I’ve said it before, the money some players are getting is out of whack with the salary cap. It’s getting ridiculous.
But it’s not though Tim. This is what is has always been. Now we have no money and sit in the bleachers and say this is ridiculous! We used to sign everyone and their mother in FA, and no one blinked. Once again, you get them to sign before they hit free agency.
We tried to sign both of them before they were FAs but their agents turned it down. To me when players who aren’t elite are getting paid like they’re elite the system is out of whack.
In hindsight, if they gave Wilkins agent what they were asking, he would be getting paid as a top 10 and not a top 5. Right about where he should be getting paid.
Tim – Last season . . .
Mike McGlinchey, who is a RT signed a 5YR/$87M deal
DT Javon Hargrave signed a 4 YR/$84M deal
This happens every year, but the prices just keep going up. It’s not a matter of whether the player is good enough or elite and deserves it, that fucking drives me crazy, because it’s what the market bears. If you’re a top player available at your position, then to that team, you’re worth it!
Wilkins was better than Hargrave in his first 5 seasons and is probably better than him now, and is 3 years younger. You sure he’s not worth that money? You want him on that line. You need him on that line. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. lol
That’s why it’s hard to keep good players. We’re paying Ramsey and Hill big money because they are elite. Armstead is a great player but he’s always hurt and Chubb is becoming the same way so those two guys are probably taking up too much cap for us but Chubb was very productive for us this year until the last game. 😔
nfl economics are wild
not just bc of the amount of money but bc basically you have lesser players getting paid more just bc of the timing of their contract
I think maybe the CBA is to blame
This The cba requires the rookie contact to be 4-5 years for every player drafted. Imagine if the rookie contracts were 2 year (if cba permitted it)
I think that would open up the market
more player would be available
contracts would be shorter
and probably players get closer to their worth
right now guys are under contract for half a decade right out of college and they have one shot to really get a big contract – after their rookie context ends
so what happens – every wants their big payday bc of hey only get one shot
that’s my 🐖 💨 on it anyway
That’s what I’m saying, it’s out of whack.
Disappointed no one caught my “A Few Good Men” reference. You guys are slippin’!
the Jets traded for Hassan Reddick- that sucks
odd he tears his Achilles on their concrete passing for turf in the next 2 years are 50/50
Mike, on another note the Mets had one hit today, a Marte HR and a 3-1 loss. 🙄
it’s better to get those false hopes over as early as possible Tim!
😂
Yeah, I watched it. Yuck! Lots of parallels with the Dolphins and Mets. Mets usually come out of the chute hot, and then fade away, like the Dolphins the last couple of years.
That’s why we love sports. 🤣
Yep! lol
Tim
I agree its our of whack
imo it flows from CBA negotiations
I don’t think the new CBA expires until 2030 – so get used to it
but I think the idea of rookie contracts being basically half a productive guys players career has us here
I don’t bake the players or the GMs
my goes is aoe
how 4-5 years was accepted to make sure teams
let like they were getting the value of their draft picks
but I think it comes back to hurt teams and their owners
bc owners get hooked to rookie contracts that are busts
and every year rookies that have been productive enter the market expecting that one big contract to their carer
it would help if I nfl owners and the CBS showd
some long term vision
they don’t. The players union is going to be measured by results in the calendar year. Same thing with nfl team success – owners are measured by profit this year
🐖💨
don’t forget for this CBA they limited the salaries of draft picks , so they have made progress
that’s probably the motivation
avoiding a Jamarcus Russell style of contract
but I think it backfires – you end up paying the price for the 8th best DT in the nfl once they hit free agency
not you got to pay him like he’s the best DT in the nfl just bc his contract is up
I hear ya. It is what it is. Sports is a love hate relationship. 🤣
What language is that pig Latin or pig fartin?
Hey, the Reds are undefeated!
It looks like we’re sticking with the same backfield as last year.
Which is nice. Could see them try to add one on day 3 if they see one they like as a possible upgrade over Wilson or Ahmed. Ahmed has zero dead cap if he doesn’t make the 53. Wilson has 782K in dead cap but would actually clear more cap.
I think they like what they have though.
Yeah I think McDaniel trusts them. He knows what he’s getting from them all. I could see a day 3 or UDFA back added to challenge the depth chart of Wilson, Ahmed and Brooks but it looks like Mostert and Achane will be the main dogs.
yes, and they extended Mostert for another year
Is anybody getting a really bad feeling about the stej like I am? Seems as though they’re outdoing us in going ‘all-in’. They could be a very dangerous team this season.
I’m worried. That’s one less team that will be a pushover in the division, which could mean at least 1 more loss
Yes, they have built a very solid team and still have the draft to go.
Our division and the AFC overall is going to be tough. The Pats will probably be a pain in the ass too but they’re clearly revamping their entire program.
Jets are going harder at all in. They have already accumulated 57 million in dead cap for 2026 (most of it A-Rod) with another 26-27 million dead cap in 2027.
Dayum!
I think the Jets will remain a dysfunctional mess. They have emasculated the head coach and are letting a lunatic…I mean Aaron Rodgers run the organization
They are a volatile group. 🤪
Robert Saleh is the walking dead
Jets go as Rodgers goes
Too bad A-Rod didn’t go to RFK Jr… just sayin’. 😉
That’s my mere football take. My political take is that I’m happy RFK Jr didn’t tab A-Rod.
Come on watching Jets fans lose their minds would have been awesome! 😂
@AdamSchefter
Over the past five seasons, Haason Reddick is tied for fifth most sacks in the NFL. The Jets lose Bryce Huff to the Eagles … and replace him with Reddick.
Those easy wins against the stej wouldn’t have been if ARod was playing. Thats something to contend with now…if he stays healthy. Say what you want about the guy, but he’s not a back to back MVP for nothing. I hope he comes back old and having lost it. Otherwise Fins could very well finish 3rd in the division. Which I guess is not a crazy scenario.
I’m not sure this is anything more than wishful thinking or using stats to cover up weaknesses, like 3rd or 4th down and short yards to-go. Last year we called every play in the book to be successful on these down situations because we had shit up front, in the middle on the OL.
https://www.si.com/nfl/dolphins/news/miami-dolphins-offensive-depth-chart-after-free-agency
Dolphins go as Tua does
You might be right about this. There’s certainly enough history to show that.
I’d say that’s the case with most teams. If the QB doesn’t play well you’re not going anywhere
I know, but the best teams can win in the other phases.
When our D took care of business, our O couldn’t step up nor STs.
We are NOT nor have we been a complete team for a very, very long time…lol
Mike,
Good article again. I’m not quite as down on Tua ATM but I don’t think he’ll ever be more than a Cousins or Stafford. That’s good enough if you get lucky with injuries.
Wilkins is a top 5 DT based off production and age. He’ll probably end up a top 3 one this year. Both him and Hunt will be worth every penny paid as long as they aren’t injured. We really could have used a DT who gets game planned against as our DEs recover from injury. I just don’t see our first pick doing that as well.
I watched the Mets game yesterday. I thought the slide was close to being illegal, but he stayed on or around the base the entire time. I can see why McNeil was angry, but Hoskins rubbing his eyes and going “waaaah waaaah” was funny as hell.
By the way, thank you for your efforts again.
Also, I say this every year and get scoffed at, but I AGREE:
“Despite priority, sometimes you have to get the best player at a position of need, and both lines are very needy!”
Yes they are.
Thanks Krishna
I know we need safety help, especially since we have none under contract after this season. But can’t help wanting to pull the trigger on RB Isaac Guerendo if he is there at #158 to upgrade over Wilson or Ahmed.
He’s 6’0 221 and ran a 4.33 forty (fastest of RB’s) with a 1.55 split and 41.5 vertical at the combine.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ajYbEQqsV0
Thanks New Age
RB Jaylen Wright might be another one I would take at #158. He has a little more wiggle. He’s 5’10 210 and ran a 4.38 forty at the combine.
Weird how sometimes it posts the video and other times just the link.
I have no idea what’s up with that. I still can’t figure out how to post something from twitter

1 Trade Each NFL Contender Should Consider to Fill Biggest Weakness
Miami Dolphins Acquire OLB Lorenzo Carter
https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10114757-1-trade-each-nfl-contender-should-consider-to-fill-biggest-weakness
At a cap hit of 3.75 million, it would affect the top 51 cap by about 2.76 million. They would probably have to do an extension and reduce his cap hit this year. Carter would be a FA after 2024.
He averages about 4 sacks a year.
Maybe we could trade Tindall and #241 for Carter. lol
Draft Picks
21.
Tyler GuytonOT Oklahoma
55.
Braden FiskeDT Florida State
158.
Zak ZinterOG Michigan
184.
Cornelius JohnsonWR Michigan
198.
Jarvis BrownleeCB Louisville
241.
Drake NugentOC Michigan
I would hope Guyton could make the switch from RT to LT.
Fiske seems to be the go to when going OL at #21. Hope he is there if that is the route Grier goes. On the flip side, if we go DL at #21, Cooper Beebe seems to be the go to at #55 for me.
Either way works for me.
I haven’t looked at WR Jonhson.
I was just thinking yesterday I should take a closer look at some Michigan OL after hearing Harbaugh talk about it. They may have some underrated guys in the draft.
yeah we can go DL in the first and look at a player like Beebe in the 2nd
but seems like the odds at getting a good DL in the 2nd are better than OL
not sure if you guys have been checking out mock drafts lately
but it seems like the new expectation is that JJ McCarthy goes to the Commanders at 2
which means we will probably see 4 QBs in the top 5-6 picks
there is also a lot of speculation that the next QB off the board will be Penix and that will be the first round
there’s a strong possibility a team wil trade up into the top 20 to go get penix
if that happens , here a shot a very good OT falls to us at 21 – or a pass rusher like Latu
I really think we can spend our 2nd return to replace Wilkins, preferably with a player like Friske, who’s a freak athlete that can bring pressure
so I’ve become focused on OT (preferably a versatile guy we can play inside) and pass rushers in the first round
Latu is probably my favorite player in the draft and I guy I think makes an immediate impact for us
Hearing the same. The talk is 5 QB’s going before we pick. WR is very deep. CB is real solid. There are 2 other very good edge players in Dallaas Turner and Jared Verse. There will some great players there at #21 to include OL, DT, CB and possibly Latu or one of the other Edge players.
the Yale OT is another 2nd round OL that might work for us
I predict the jest beat the Bills once this year. If Ridgers ….
They split with them last year so anything is possible. Beat them in the season opener when Rodgers went down 3 plays in.
You can say the Jets sucked last year but they did beat Buffalo, Philly, Houston and only lost to KC 23-20.
They started the season 4-3 before going on the big losing streak.
All without Rodgers.
Been a while since I met any football players through my work. First it was Trent Richardson bonding out a friend then it was the TE Leggit when I bonded his dad.
This time it was draft prospect OLB Javon Solomon from Troy University. He wanted to bond a former Troy teammate out for Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Officer Without Violence (both BS charges, city cops here suck). They were here for spring break. I ended up doing the bond with the kids dad though. This Solomon dude is a beast. He’s a 6’1 246 Edge/OLB. Really nice kid.
I asked him how difficult it was to get recognized coming from a small school. He said it was not hard at all, “These team’s do their homework on everyone”. Thinks he might get drafted as early as the 4th or 5th round.
Had to look him up. He had 33 sacks (16 last year) and 5 FF in his college career.
The kid I bonded out didn’t play last year and was in the transfer portal trying to get a scholarship elsewhere. He’s stressing that he fugged it all up. I gave him the names of 3 really good attorney’s who I am confident will get both charges dropped.
BTW, I hate spring breakers. It really makes surf fishing for spring pompano a pain in the ass.
I was just searching articles for draft sleepers and came across this one for today. I was like holy crap when I saw #7. LOL
Piggy, look who was #3. Good call!
I think you forgot to post the link
Keep fighting the good fight BBMike.
maybe we
can replaced Wilkins from the same source – Clemson
hi early I am just excited to see everyone’s dogs freak out when they say his name after a play

Sorry, I had to run out the door.
https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10114574-ranking-the-10-biggest-potential-steals-of-the-2024-nfl-draft
did a lot of moving around In this draft
Shit, you killed it though!!
Barton and Beebe would be tough.
Don’t know who Ellis is though. I have not looked much into Edge.
There is a nice group of safeties there between #55 to about #75.
Ah, there I go. lol
He’s got some quickness about him. Gives OL fits trying to block him. There is a lot to like about his game.
Elliss’ dad was a DT for the Lions, a first round pick in 1995. Elliss said in an interview he studies tape on pro’s with a similar body type. He said Haasan Reddick was one of the main ones he studies.
He had 12 sacks in 10 games last year before missing the rest of the season with a shoulder injury. Had to have surgery. Said he will be 100% by TC.
his who,e family plays football
I’m finally looking into some Safeties today for the 5th round. A really good and solid pick? Kitan Oladapo, SS, Oregon State.
Tyler Owens is the ATHLETE of the projected 5-6 rounders, though his production in college is, well… not so good.
He doesn’t believe in ‘space’ (as in, the cosmos), he’s coming off a groin injury suffered at the Combine, but he’s that FREAK athlete.
If he goes undrafted, he’d be a prime UDFA to call right after the Draft ends.
Athletes who can’t play football and don’t believe in the cosmos is just what we need. I wonder what his IQ is? 🤣
Malik Mustapha would be another nice SS choice in the 5th round. BB Mike has already spoken of him.
Sorry, that was meant to be reply to Tim regarding Tyler Owens!
Yes, I was laughing WITH ya!
M, yes. Oladapo is another I have mocked a few times. It seems I either select Mustapha or Oladapo at #158. Depending on what site you look at, I think Oladapa is rated a little higher.
I believe Oladapo is the in-box Safety we could use, plus his coverage grades are incredible playing there. He would allow Jevon Holland to roam free as a FS in certain sits. Plus, I feel Oladapo would allow Ramsey to roam free as a ‘chess piece’.
Yes… I’m taking Oladapo in the 5th if he’s still available.
We should all remember… Reshad Jones was also taken in the 5th round. There IS talent to be had there in the 5th round.
Poyer was 7th round.
M, While you’re at it, check out Washington safety Dominique Hampton. Not sure why his stock is so low. He is a 5th year senior. He’s 6’2 215 and runs a 4.51. He was a stud for Washington last year with 108 tackles, 2 INT’s and 7 PD’s.
Many draft boards have him as a late day 3 pick, 7th round. Not quit sure why.
Maybe I should watch more than highlights. LOL
Hampton’s name came up for me several times in doing my homework, so he’s very noticeable to me. I’ll check him out further, my man.
But in the meantime, I’m audi! Gotta get some things done around the house and studio!
YOU ROCK, BB Mike!
Enough already with these articles where former players and coaches kiss someone’s ass and some writer is compelled to write an articles about it

What should I write about today? I’ll talk to Weaver’s buddies and see if…
They did it with Gase, MM…
Tim
Poyer had quite inexplicable drop on his draft day. We thought he was going to go in the 2nd round
I’ve talked this many times already. Poyer dropped because he couldn’t put the alcohol down.
Poyer is a SUCCESS story, proving that he could conquer alcoholism and become an ALL-PRO Safety in the NFL.
Like you, I was HUGE on Poyer on Draft Day.
If memory serves, I was the one driving the Poyer train!
I did not know that or I forgot.
Either way, with play or leadership, Poyer should be an upgrade
Like Randy said the other day, Poyer’s experience in the game getting guys lined up right could be a big deal. Vets who know what they’re doing can play a big role in being a good team. It’s not always about off the charts athleticism.
Yes, think of what Ray Lewis did in Baltimore toward the end of his career, after he lost a step
Here’s another bs article
“Benito is an unbelievable guy, and I would say he came in and he really did improve from the time that we got him. He started for us. He grew so much from last year to even this year. And really, he earned it. I think there were a lot of people who didn’t think he would be the starter and he did start for us. He was the better player. He was steady. He was part of the reason why we had as good a run defense as we had. I’m excited for him. I wish him the best of luck and you got a good one.” Dan Campbell
31.5 Benito’s PFF run grade last year
https://dolphinswire.usatoday.com/lists/dolphins-benito-jones-things-to-know/
I do think Benito will be better in our D, because he fits the mold Weaver seems to like, with better players around him and another years experience at DT can’t hurt
2019 during the rebuild I didn’t think we’d miss some of the top guys we let go too much, in the beginning I couldn’t have been more wrong, as that team started as the worst team I’ve ever seen in the NFL
Difference this time is we still have some stars, hope it doesn’t take half a season to get going thus year
I bet we re-sign Ogbah in June
https://www.si.com/nfl/dolphins/news/miami-dolphins-defensive-depth-chart-after-free-agency
Yes, please move Tindall too Edge
Really hoping Cam or someone else can play the boundary CB, so we can move Ramsey at times to the 3rd S, so he can roam the field
Fuller, Cam Smith, Kohou and Needham along with Ramsey. The secondary looks pretty good.
Y’all going to be celebrating Easter or Biden’s proclaimed Transgender Visibility Day tomorrow? Just wondering.
Mental Illness Visibility Day
Ahh
And uh, not celebrating that!
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/39844882/report-police-searching-rashee-rice-due-major-accident
Happy Easter everyone!
BBMike – There’s a show on TV, regular network TV that is, it’s on ABC, called “The Good Doctor”. Not sure if it was the last episode we watched, but the main character is a surgeon, and he is autistic, and he and his wife had a baby that is a couple of months old. The wife, Leah, is looking down lovingly at the baby (a boy), and says “Mommy and daddy love you, whatever you want to be when you grow up, a boy or a girl”. I was so disappointed they threw that bullshit in there, this really needs to stop.
I never watched that show but OMG, very disappointing.
Piggy, Zach Zinter is a stud! I didn’t know this though, “Zinter, a unanimous All-America selection last season, broke his tibia and fibula in Michigan’s win over archrival Ohio State in November.” He said he is 100% football ready now though after participating in a limited capacity at the combine.
I like him a lot but something tells me Harbaugh is going to draft him higher than any other team will.
Late round pick?
probably somewhere between 3-5th rounds
he’s probably gonna be a steal for some one
but I wonder if he’s as mobile as we need for our scheme
seems like they want mobile type of IOL
He looked mobile enough in that video. Going to look at that center next if I can find anything on him. I know he is small but so is the center we just signed.
Drake Nugent is stout and strong but looks like he would struggle with the everyday DT in the NFL. Looks like he is able to maintain JUST long enough. He might struggle a lot vs teams with a 3-4 and a big NT in his face instead of an even front where he can double more. Then again, I don’t know a whole lot about OL play.
He actually is coming in to the draft a little bigger than Aaron Brewer did. But everyone is different.
I also looked at the other 2 Michigan starting OL in the draft, LG Trevor Keegan and LT LaDarius Henderson. Keegan looked decent, Henderson not so much. I watched the Michigan OL vs PSU tape. ONLY one who stood out was Zinter.
The one thing that stood out to me was they are not that physically gifted (except Zinter) but they all seemed very well coached and executed their assignments well (except LT Henderson).
I looked at small school LG Mason McCormick from South Dakota State. He is listed as a PFF small school sleeper but I came away unimpressed. Their LT Garrett Greenfield looked like a much better day 3 prospect.
Tim, we mention adding a late day 3 or UDFA RB. Though small at 5’8 187, Jaden Shirden from Monmouth would be a fit in our offense. He has quick acceleration and runs in the mid to low 4.4’s. He would be a decent KR with the new rules also so we would have to use our top players.
wouldn’t have to use our top players on KR
I keep mocking LT Nathan Thomas from Louisiana to us in the 7th round. He’s 6’5 332. I am starting to hear more about him. Some think he will be a solid backup LT and others are saying he could develop into a really good starting LG in the NFL. They say he has a real solid anchor and can’t be bull rushed. A scout said he just loves football, was very impressed with his knowledge of schemes and is a film geek.
He was on the CBS sports draft sleeper list.
Nathan Thomas
I was just thinking. Yeah, I do that from time to time. lol
Our top needs to me are OL, DT and safety. The Dolphins seem to have a vet OG on standby if they don’t get their guy in the draft. I feel that they may be leaning OL at #21. Then, thinking about the defense and what they plan to run, it kind of puts safety higher on the list when we only have Holland, Poyer and former CB Campbell at safety on the roster.
Maybe they like what they did at DT in FA with adding Jones at NT and Gallimore to play opposite Seiler. They gave them both 100% guaranteed contracts. Maybe they plan to address DL later in the draft??
I was also thinking of how the Ravens liked having some hard to move beef on the DL.
One guy who comes to mind on day 3 is Northern Iowa’s NT Kristian Boyd at 6’4 317. A guy who can give goo push up the middle
Howdy BBM, passing thru Pensacola
I see ya, what’s up man! LOL
Not sure which way you are heading but if west, watch for them troopers after you pass the I-110 exit.

This would work, IMO. No trade downs. Vidal is another interesting late day 3 RB. He’s a bowling ball at 5’8 213 pounds and runs a 4.46 forty. Not as much wiggle/acceleration as Jaden Shirden, but at the same height, Vidal adds 26 pounds on Shirden.
21. Graham Barton OG Duke
55. Kamren Kinchens S Miami (FL) (or Cole Bishop S Utah) I could have taken either
158. Khristian Boyd DT Nothern Iowa
184. Myles Murphy DT North Carolina
198. Nathan Thomas OT Louisiana
241. Kimani Vidal RB Troy
Happy Easter to everyone
****
I find it sometimes hard to tell
He’s a big guy so people miggb be projecting lack of speed on him – but some of the scouting reports say he’s not a great fit for zone blocking schemes and doesn’t move well
Sometimes it’s hard to trust those scouting reports though – they usually underestimate prospects unless the prospect is all world top 10
😂
32.
Graham Barton
OGDuke
55.
Ruke Orhorhoro
DTClemson
76.
Kiran Amegadjie
OTYale
100.
Javon Solomon

Braden Fiske

158.
Luke McCaffrey
moved around a lot
they had odd rankings – got Fiske pretty late
Happy Easter folks!
Happy Easter, everyone!
Wait what? Transgender Visibility Day. WTF?
It’s true. WTF is right.
Ain’t that some shit? Also, let’s put that ridiculous made up bullshit holiday on a holy Christian Holiday while we’re at it.
Yeah it’s disrespectful. It seems to be purposely done and that’s another example of trying to piss people off and divide.
All part of the plan. Distraction.
Elephant Rider,
Yessir! Distraction and Destruction.
IF there could be SIX QBs go before we select @ R1P21 (Michael Penix and Bo Nix being the outsiders), my goodness will there ever be talent for us when we’re on the clock.
Should that be the case (perfect storm) — and unless we are overly fixated on one given player — we should be able to trade down a few spots and still get one of our BPA/need players.
I don’t get the distraction angle. They’re clearly shoving some social agenda down America’s throat whether they like it or not. What does that distract from? Sanity?
You all know I’ve been harsh about religion in the past. I’ve tempered my thoughts on such things in recent times because I felt it was also disrespectful. I just don’t want religion in government. It’s not supposed to be in America because not everyone is religious or of one faith. But I do believe people have a right to practice their faith.
This day of Transgender Visibility on Easter is just wrong. I believe in individual freedom but transgender is biological confusion. You were biologically born male or female. Don’t tell everyone what to think about it. Do your thing and don’t force it on people. That said they have a right to not be persecuted or assaulted because of who they feel they are. The same with gay people.
Tim – I don’t know to say this without seeming mean, so I’ll just say it. America needs to stop making gender a choice, it’s not. They make it seem as if you may just wake up one day and think “Hmm, I think I want to be a woman”, therefore you should act on it. It’s not a fucking hairstyle, a tattoo, or a new outfit, it’s a mental illness that is spreading like wildfire through the world.
I understand that viewpoint and share it as well. That’s why I said just be who you are and don’t force it on anyone. Every “group” not individual has this desire to be heard and recognized. Get over yourselves.
^
I was with this guy until the 6th round. No way we do that.

BBMike – Who did McCrystal have the Dolphins taking in RD1, 2, 5, 6 and 7?
He didn’t. He was just predicting where he thinks the QB’s will go this draft. He didn’t provide anything else.

Distraction to keep the division and focus away from what is actually happening. Both sides are on the same team, just nobody wants to open their eyes to it. Cue the famous George Carlin “Big club” rant. Scary how it’s been accelerated.

Democratic Party hates America. Wants to turn it into a 3rd world shithole. All about power. And anyone that thinks Biden is in charge (unless they think Jill) is a fool.
LOL
l try to be open-minded,
but I’m definitely opposed to adults giving “puberty-blockers”
to pre-adolescents to keep them from ever sexually maturing.
That should be a crime with a 20-year prison term.
A 8-10 year-old kid doesn’t need to be thinking about sex to that degree period.
Let alone being coached into “deciding” whether they are m or f.
Just look down. Then you’ll know which you are.
Now if you’re a male and want to wear lipstick, ok,
but you are still a male.
If you’re a girl and want to drive a truck, fine,
but you’re still a girl.
I actually question whether doctors should be implanting tits on males.
But to encourage a child to choose to never grow up and then furnish the child with the budget and opportunity for that child to have life altering pharmaceutical and / or surgical alterations so as to be some “third” gender is criminal psychological manipulation.
I don’t know many people who disagree with what you said. I have many “progressive” liberal friends who are not on board with any of this either. It goes against the natural order of things but some people won’t admit it even when they know it’s true.
Don’t take this the wrong way.
But in all fairness the Tranny day has been on the 31st for a few years.
It just coincides with Easter this year.
Next year it won’t be on Easter!
Brother, if Tranny Day has BEEN on the 31st of every March, then why did Joe Biden make his decree? That doesn’t make sense, though I fully understand that Easter isn’t a fixed calender holiday.
I was never aware yet everyday seems to be a something day. I don’t really follow that stuff.
I’m with you on this Wyoming
IMO there’s a something day every day, whatever some corporation got setup to market something is in place
Bet you didn’t know “breakfast is the most important meal of the day” is just a BS slogan by a breakfast company that stuck
Hmmm, that is something I would have known. LOL
The highlight of my sporting day was watching North Carolina State beat the “Preppy Boys” of Duke rather soundly. to make it to the Final Four. Watchine the “DOOKIES” whine and complain about most fouls that were called against them made me want to throw up! (That’s “Watching”)
Guess the group of Duke fans will be headed back to Durham in their BMW and Mercedes automobiles, having convinced themselves that they were “done in” by a
bunch of commoners who stole this game from them!!
OH THE WHINING!!
I’ve NEVER liked Duke, and NC State has always had a warm spot in my heart regarding Jimmy V!
NICE WIN!!!
My father’s brother went to Duke,
and my wife’s brother went to NC State,
so when it comes to those two teams, I say …
“Go Tigers.”
Kion Smith came on last year, maybe he can be the Armstead replacement
Would be nice, if we didn’t feel the need to draft 2 OL
Brewer replaced Conner
Driscoll, Jonnu and Fortson instead of Hunt, not better on OL, but might be overall
I agree on Kion Smith. I thought he almost looked better than Lamm when he was in there. Maybe that is why they did not bring Lamm back.
I think it will be a wait and see on Brewer when it comes to pass pro.
Armstead, Wynn, Brewer, Driscoll, Jackson is a starting point. Will have to see if they get that plug and play IOL in the draft or do they go get OG Whitehair or Risner.
Who is this idiot writing this article, that thinks a KO returner was ever circled by defenders before he catches a KO? Doesn’t he know the difference between a KO and a punt?
https://phinphanatic.com/posts/dolphins-could-use-tyreek-hill-or-de-von-achane-on-kickoffs-and-add-new-dimension-01ht92qfqggy
Dolphins traded Tua to Washington for pick #2 and QB Sam Howell.
Tyreek Hill was just arrested for domestic battery.
Xavien Howard just signed with the Bills.
Terron Armstead announces retirement.
Javon Holland wants his extension now or he won’t report to TC.
Stephen Ross is selling the Dolphins. New owners are moving the team to Orlando.

Just trying to get a few of these out of the way being today is 4/1.
Thanks, but some people on here live for being able to run fake stories today, you just ruined their day😜
Like those that love to write first on new articles
I have a friend whose birthday was yesterday, we were busting his balls telling him he should’ve been born on April 1st, and couldn’t even get that right
Anyways, yes I did forget this morning was April 1st, won’t be reading any Fins articles today
June 1st we get 18m for X added back to the cap, if (yes we did this) you move cap money for signings before June 1st to later years and roll the June 1st savings forward, it doesn’t really matter that this 18m is post June 1st, as long as you’re always under the cap
We’ve done this before, and the results haven’t always been pretty, meaning the money from the June 1st cuts haven’t always been rolled to future years to pay for the pre June 1st signings, and I don’t expect it will this year either
Either way we made space to go for it again this year
@NFL_DovKleiman
𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: Chiefs WR Rashee Rice has retained legal counsel and a statement on the accident is expected to come out tomorrow, per @JosinaAnderson
Failure to stop or remain at a crash involving even minor injury is a felony in Texas. Someone had to go to the hospital. So, we’ll see what happens. Maybe Chiefs will need to draft Xavier Worthy after all.
Of course someone went to the hospital, they knew who was involved
Gotta maximize that lawsuit
Yes sir!
Why didn’t any of you sports bet people think of this?
A guy claims he has made almost 1 million dollars betting on transgender athletes like Lia Thomas among others.
Good work Mike! as far as non elite players getting elite money, to me free agency is just any other market. The products worth is what someone is willing to pay for it. If wilkins is getting elite money is because that’s what his worth is.
