Ok folks, this is the final preseason contest, and this one means an awful lot for guys fighting for roster spots. We’ll see a smattering of starters, but this game is mostly about seeing which guys step up and make their case to be included in the 53 man roster. Last week I discussed the offensive roster breakdown, today I’m going to focus more on the defense. In particular, there are quite a few young defensive backs who have really impressed in both training camp and preseason games, and we can only carry so many, especially since we have so many talented veteran safeties and corners already on the roster, such as Jevon Holland, Jordan Poyer, Marcus Maye, Jalen Ramsey and Kendall Fuller, there are but a few depth spots that remain. Is it possible any of the guys that have been here are in danger, like Kader Kohou, Nik Needham, Elijah Campbell?
I think Kader Kohou is safe. I think Nik Needham, who has stepped up in the past could be in danger, because the NFL is the most “What have you done for me lately?” league around. There are some impressive guys, guys that have worked hard all camp and preseason like CB Storm Duck, CB Jason Maitre, S Patrick McMorris and CB Isaiah Johnson. FYI, only S Patrick McMorris was drafted (Rd 6 pick #198), while Duck, Maitre and Isaiah Johnson were all undrafted free agents. It may be unfair, but this game may truly have a big impact as to whether some of these guys make the roster. Of course, it’s all cumulative, so the good work they’ve done during camp and preseason games all count, but this is the last chance to make a good impression.
Last season we carried 7 cornerbacks, and 5 safeties to begin the season. Knowing how much DC Anthony Weaver likes to use his safeties, I’d imagine we carry at least 5 again. As I mentioned earlier, Jevon Holland, Jordan Poyer and Marcus Maye who was signed earlier this year are probably locks. That leaves two more spots, so Patrick McMorris, Jordan Colbert and Mark Perry will be fighting for potentially one or two spots, At CB, it’s going to be tougher. Jalen Ramsey (who may get plenty of use as a safety in certain formations), Kendall Fuller and Kader Kohou are locked. I’d say ST’s ace, and yet another player who has played very well is CB Siran Neal. Also, Cam Smith, who the Dolphins drafted in RD 2 has played well, but also has been nicked up again. He needs to play, and play well. So with 4 locks, and maybe 3-5 spots to fight for, it should be an intense battle with Cam Smith, Storm Duck, Jason Maitre, Isaiah Johnson and Ethan Bonner, who has also flashed quite a bit. Some of these guys will end up on the practice squad, but I could see a couple of these guys poached by a CB needy team.
The defensive line and linebackers is also a little muddy. The trio of Zach Sieler (LDE), Benito Jones (NT) and Calais Campbell (RDE) are the starters. This will be the starkest contrast from last season, We carried only 5 defensive linemen, but this season in Anthony Weaver’s defense, we will have a heavy rotation of players, so we’ll need to carry at least 2-3 more DL than we did last season. This is where it’s muddy, at least for me. A few guys have flashed, but we have 10 DL, and as I’ve always maintained, I like DE/LB Emmanuel Ogbah better on the D-line despite the fact he’s listed as a LB on the depth chart., so his flexibility there could cost someone a roster spot. DL Da’Shawn Hand, Neville Gallimore, Brandon Pili, Jonathan Harris, Isaiah Mack and Robert Cooper will be competing for those final spots. That means 5 guys will be competing for potentially 2-3 spots, although I have no idea exactly how many DL Weaver will actually carry, this is just guesswork.
At linebacker, with Bradley Chubb beginning the season on the PUP list, that’s one spot that someone might have for a while longer out of necessity. The starters at inside are set, David Long Jr. along with newly signed Jordyn Brooks who signed an free agent from the Seattle Seahawks are the inside tandem. On the outside, we’ll have to see what Weaver decides to do. Will we start with Jaelan Phillips who was recently removed from the PUP list, or will he just get minimal playing time and be used in obvious passing downs? Emmanuel Ogbah and Jaelan Phillips are first on the depth chart, but you’d have to think rookie Chop Robinson will see a lot of reps as well as Quinton Bell and Mo Kamara. As far as who makes the roster, it will depend on how many spots are allocated. Phillips, Ogbah, Bell and Kamara seem like locks, especially with the uncertainty of if/when Chubb returns. Duke Riley and Anthony Walker will be the two depth guys on the inside and should be on the roster. Last season, we started with only 6 LB’s, I think we have to carry at least 7, Phillips, Ogbah, Long, Brooks, Robinson, Bell and Kamara, and possibly one more.
It’s possible the depth we carry on defense affects the offense, like maybe we carry only 3 TE’s instead of 4, or 5 WR’s instead of 6. OBJ is making things difficult being unavailable, and WR Erik Ezukanma limped off the field last game. He’s a guy that needs to suit up and play well, he looked great in the last game, so impressive, but the injuries are a real issue. He flashed early last season before going on IR after just 2 games. WR River Cracraft left the game banged up after catching a beautiful touchdown pass from Tua, so his availability is up in the air, but I think unless it’s more serious, Cracraft has earned a roster spot. I think rookie Malik Washington should have a roster spot as well due to his return ability which could put veteran Braxton Berrios in danger. I hope Ezukanma is healthy enough to go and his injury doesn’t keep him out long, because he brings something no other wide receiver we have on the roster brings, tough run after catch ability and size. Yes, TE Jonnu Smith gives you that too, but more options please!
GO DOLPHINS!!!

They have to report to the league by 4pm. The fans can all go fuck ourselves…

Yes… Chris Grier has failed us in terms of a pass-protecting O-Line.
So, between now and opening day, not including the practice squad how many players do you see changing on the 53?
I’ll put the over / under at 6
under at 1 or 2
I’ll take the under at 3 to 4 players.

Miami Dolphins Make Roster Moves
Aug 27, 2024 at 05:18 PM
The Miami Dolphins announced they have waived linebacker David Anenih, wide receiver Je’Quan Burton, safety Jordan Colbert, defensive tackle Robert Cooper, wider receiver Erik Ezukanma, wide receiver Mike Harley Jr., offensive lineman Chasen Hines, running back Zander Horvath, linebacker Dequan Jackson, wide receiver Jadon Janke, cornerback Isaiah Johnson, offensive lineman Matthew Jones, cornerback Jason Maitre, tackle Bayron Matos, wide receiver Kyric McGowan, defensive tackle Leonard Payne, safety Mark Perry and tight end Hayden Rucci.
The team also waived/injured running back Chris Brooks, tackle Ryan Hayes and wide receiver Braylon Sanders, and released linebacker Curtis Bolton, long snapper Blake Ferguson, defensive tackle Neville Gallimore, defensive tackle Jonathan Harris, defensive tackle Isaiah Mack, running back Anthony McFarland Jr. and cornerback Nik Needham.
Additionally, the Dolphins moved wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., linebacker Bradley Chubb, linebacker Cameron Goode and offensive lineman Isaiah Wynn to the reserve/physically unable to perform list, and placed wide receiver River Cracraft, linebacker Wyatt Ray and cornerback Cam Smith on injured reserve. The team listed Cracraft and Smith as designated for return.
Some repeat news, but clarifies….
Dolphins place CB Cam Smith, WR River Cracraft on short-term IR
Adam Stites
August 27, 2024 5:22 pm ET
The Miami Dolphins placed cornerback Cam Smith and wide receiver River Cracraft on the injured reserve with a designation to return Tuesday.
The ability to place up to two players on injured reserve at the cuts deadline is a new rule added by the NFL in 2024. Previously, players had to occupy one of the final 53 roster spots for at least a day before being moved to the short-term IR. Players added to the IR prior to the cut deadline were ruled out for the remainder of the year.
Thanks to the change, the Dolphins were able to save two additional places on the roster and will be able to bring Smith and Cracraft back after they miss at least four games.
Both players were injured in the Dolphins’ second preseason game earlier this month. It was a hamstring injury for Smith and an undisclosed “upper body” issue for Cracraft.
Miami also kept Odell Beckham Jr., Bradley Chubb, Cam Goode, and Isaiah Wynn on the PUP list, ruling those four players out for at least four games, as well.
EZ released?? WTF
We now have 4 active WR’s on the 53; Hill, Waddle, Berrios and Washington.
not sure we need more than 4 WRs to start the season Achane can play out wide, as can Jonnu
Also, WTF did they cut the long snapper before?
just saw that in the post above, we have no other LS on the team, either a mistake or Grier has some kind of wink wink agreement with him

Two undrafted rookies made the Dolphins’ initial 53-man roster: Storm Duck and Andrew Meyer. It’s the fourth straight year at least one UDFA has made the 53.
awaiting moderation?
Ezukanma can’t stay healthy. That’s a big issue for him.
Achane and Jonnu are going to open up our receiving options, along with some other guys creeping in here and there. I expect our offense to be a juggernaut.
The defense is still kind of unknown until we see it but we do have a lot of talent on that side of the ball as well.
STs has been 50/50 the last few years. Let’s see if there is some special there this year.
I expect our O to start slow, unless the new wrinkles blow everyone away or Jonnu is a 3rd down machine or Achane opens things up from the wide receiver position
Otherwise we’ll have to wait for OBJ
I have seen nothing about Blake Ferguson being cut.
Here it is

I expect Wilson to be cut before week 1, they must be looking for a trade
Tanner Conner is a 4.3 guy, that played WR in college, so he may play some slot or out wide, if needed
Conner is still injured. He might be ready in 12 days who knows.
Something tells me they released Ferguson to resign him to the PS and will elevate him each week until they can’t anymore in order to keep someone else on the 53 they fear might get swooped up right now if released.
I just don’t know who that would be.
I don’t feel good at all about the WR room. Hill or Waddle goes down, it will change everything. Berrios can’t fill in a full game. He couldn’t get it done last year. Then all we have is a rookie still learning the playbook. Tanner Conner has been on the team several years. He’s not suddenly going to be some stud.
I know there is some churning to do, but still.

@flasportsbuzz
Per source, Dolphins have expressed interest in potentially re-signing Erik Ezukanma to practice squad if he goes unclaimed on waivers. His injury is not considered longterm. To me, he’s worth investing more time in.
There it is:
@flasportsbuzz
Per source, expectation is that Blake Ferguson will re-sign with Dolphins. This was done to facilitate roster machinations.
One thing that disappoints me is 5 guys on the D-Line. Doesn’t sound like a lot of rotating to me? What do you all think?
I don’t know, is Ogbah a tweener? Edge/DE?
It was one thing many of you defended letting Wilkins go being the fact that we’d be rotating more guys in and out. Now as it turns out, we have 5 guys just like we did last year. Hmmm
Grief failed to make this team better in the trenches.
all flash and sparkle
I am confident we will not make the playoffs this year.
Center Andrew Meyer and CB Storm Duck are 2 UDFA’s who made the initial 53.
WE HAVE NO LONG SNAPPER
I am kind of hoping we have another player who can snap the ball. I have always hated “wasting” a roster spot on a long snapper. Why can’t the center snap the ball that far? LOL
I think we are light on CB’s too.
We have 11 DB’s
Only position I see really undermanned is WR. Hope Tyreek and Waddle are in good shape with all that motion they run. Are y’all really confident with Berrios and a rookie as only backups?
They may be trying to trade someone they are hanging on to.
Mike – I think he’s not only a tweener, I think he’s better at DE
Agree
Miami Dolphins linebacker Jaelan Phillips (15) do drills during team practice at the Baptist Health Training Complex on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024, in Miami Gardens, Fla. dsantiago@miamiherald.com
Hopefully Chris Grier kept all his receipts from this spring’s shopping because plenty of the decisions made by the team’s general manager on cut day weakened areas the Miami Dolphins knew they needed to fortify this offseason.
Miami’s injury-decimated receiving corps will begin the year with two healthy receivers in Braxton Berrios and Malik Washington.
The defensive line, which was ravaged by free agency, still needs reinforcements because of the early release of Teair Tart, and Tuesday’s surprising cut of Neville Gallimore and Jonathan Harris, whose contracts were virtually guaranteed when the defensive tackle signed with Miami.
And the Dolphins are seemingly beginning 2024 with the exact same interior offensive linemen — Robert Jones, Liam Eichenberg and Lester Cotton — whose struggles rushed Tua Tagovailoa’s operating time because of their shaky pass protection in Miami’s critical December and January losses.
Unless Grier gets active with waiver wire claims, and/or signs a few veterans who were released by the 31 other NFL teams, this is the best the Dolphins can do heading into Sept. 8 season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
WHEN (as like right now) Hill and Waddle get hurt we are fucked. Good thing the “Soft part” of our schedule is the beginning of the year. Well, except game 2 and game 3…
Every team is fucked when they lose their best players.
I agree with TK…I might not use the word juggernaut but I do think this O will be multidimensional using ALL of its “weapons,” not just Hill and Waddle. Different RB skill sets, but all fast and receivers, FB, TEs that block and receive, slot with speed…if only our OL can just do enough. And, then Waddle and Hill to take the top off with speed…wow…lol.
Trade Jeff Wilson to the Texans for Case Keenum and a future day 3 pick.
We NEED a real QB behind Tua, God forbid Tua misses any kind of time. Skylar isn’t that guy, IMO.
M – what do you think of 5 guys on the DL? Do you feel duped?
Not that we care , but Bills signing Mike White to ps
Pick his brain and release him ala pats ??
Not worried, the Bills kick our ass just fine without inside info from Mike White
Lol
can’t sign em until Wednesday
When in nickel and dime which is most of the time, there will only be one or two interior DL on the field. Edge will always have two.
I’m pretty surprised we kept 4 TE’s
I’m not, 2 of them are just like WRs
if we have WR injuries against Jags we’ll just use more TE sets, also Achane can play outside WR
can he do it well though? People speculate just because he lined up outside a bit last year that he automatically can play WR.
I’m not, I was talking earlier that I think we’re going to use more big formation personnel groupings.
Well, we may need to because I think our offensive line is going to suck
Have we even seen the starting OL yet?

More WR Snaps Coming For De’Von Achane? The Dolphins kept just four WRs on their initial 53-man roster (Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Malik Washington, and Braxton Berrios). NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe speculates that it might mean more WR snaps for RB De’Von Achane.
This obvious thought is all over X, pretty sure we all knew he got reps at WR last year
MM may see what happens week 1, before deciding to add a 5th WR
How important was drafting Wright?
Could also be why Wilson wasn’t cut
It’s not always about numbers but talent.
I’m talking about talent in numbers
I think Achane can be a dangerous WR
Especially as a 3rd WR, he’s really good, ask Tyreek
I agree, wasn’t questioning you just making a statement supporting your point.

Have we even seen the starting OL ?
That’s what I said “I think they are going to suck”, and not “they are guaranteed to suck”.
We lost 40% or starting offensive line, and Wynn is on the PUP. Losing hunt was a huge loss as was losing Williams, as evidenced by last year, I just don’t see how our interior offensive line is better than last year, and they dropped off precipitously when Williams and Wynn went down.
But didn’t a lot of folks think our OL sucked last year? Maybe losing 40% of them isn’t so bad. 😉😂🤷🏼♀️
yes, the injured version, not the one that played against the Chargers and Broncos
Our OL last year of Armstead, Wynn, Williams, Hunt and Jackson was great, but how often were they on the field together?
It’s not about 2024 OL being better, it’s not going to happen, we’re just trying to put out a pretty good OL, can’t have all units great
in 2024 with Armstead, Wynn, Brewer, whoever and Jackson we’ll be pretty good
we can easily pick up a good 5th WR before week 1, to be our #3, if they feel they need to do that they may
The O keeps saying there’s some new wrinkles, so we may have an X factor

I’m not, I was talking earlier that I think we’re going to use more big formation personnel groupings.
I agree, and we did just that in PS
I think we might even sign Rucci to the PS and call him up week 1 and use him as an H back
I can see on 3rd downs using Hill, Waddle, Jonnu, Achane, and Mostert/Wright, with no one or 1 back in backfield
I’m pretty sure that grouping can move the chains at good %
Other 3rd downs putting Smythe or Hill in
You really only need 5 WRs for a season, for injury reasons, but not every game
If Malik plays more than 10 plays on O I’ll be surprised
we had a shell of a team against Buffalo last year week 18, we should’ve won, if not for the punt return
It was worse in KC.
We have yet to see this and I do not expect to see this starting 5 every week. We know it doesn’t work that way.

These guys aren’t pups, they’ve all played lots of games. We heard when McDaniel became HC from many pundits that it takes a few years to establish the OL for the system he runs. The Shannahan tree. It’s year 3 and you have your QB with lots of weapons.
For Rock…lol
Many of Chris Grier’s Free Agent Signings Didn’t Make the Roster
Posted by Mike Oliva | Aug 27, 2024 | Dolphins News |
Before we start, I know some Dolphins fans get emotional when they hear critical things about their favorite team, so let me be clear: This isn’t a “sky is falling” article. I predict Miami will go 10-7 this season and be in the mix for a playoff spot.
I am not saying the team is awful or that everything is bad.
But…..
What the hell did Chris Grier do this offseason?
With Miami cutting its roster to 53 men on Tuesday, most of his free-agent signings, especially those in March/April, didn’t make the initial roster.
Remember when Miami let Christian Wilkins and Raekwon Davis walk and went out and signed Neville Gallimore, Jonathan Harris, Teair Tart, Benito Jones, and Isaiah Mack?
It was going to be this “glorious rotation” where it was better to have “many” good players instead of paying big money to just one great player.
Well, after Tuesday afternoon, we still have Benito Jones.
Gallimore cut.
Harris cut.
Mack cut.
Tart was cut weeks ago.
This plan for the defensive line worked out well.
I know Miami may bring some of these players back on the “practice squad.” That’s great, but that wasn’t the plan, and practice squad players don’t dress on Sundays.
Yes, I know they signed Calais Campbell in the summer, but he will be 38 on September 1st and said last week he can only play 35-40 snaps a game, and if you move him to defensive tackle, it won’t even be that many.
Now, let’s look at the Wide Receiver position. Behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, Miami had Braxton Berrios, who was terrible in 2023. Chase Claypool and Robbie Chosen were flat-out awful, and that is why Miami drafted two wide receivers in April.
Then they brought in Odell Beckham Jr. (check that begged him because he turned down their initial offer), and Miami sent him a second and third offer, essentially bidding against themselves for him.
The frustrating part there is they knew OBJ had some health issues, but the media and fans didn’t.
And OBJ will start the season on the PUP list, missing at least 4 (probably more because he has never taken a practice rep with Tua or anyone else on this offense) games to start the season.
Oh, and the kicker: With Miami carrying only four WRs on their active roster as of this writing, they are now (from what I am being told) kicking the tires to bring back Robbie Chosen, the guy they wanted to move on from and replace in the first place.
Let’s go to the offensive line. Miami let Robert Hunt and Connor Williams go. OK, fine. Hunt, we know why, Money, and Connor didn’t want to be here and are returning from a major injury.
Miami signed Isaiah Wynn, much like OBJ, who was still injured from last year, who will start this season on PUP and miss at least a month, if not more.
Aaron Brewer, who was healthy until about three weeks ago, will likely miss Weeks 1 and 2 with a hand injury. It’s not his fault; guys get injured. At least he isn’t on IR or PUP, but he is another Grier offseason signing who won’t be ready to play to start the season.
But we do have Jack Driscoll, who, if Brewer were starting, would be a backup RG behind Liam Eichenberg.
SOMEONE TELL ME WHEN I AM TELLING LIES
Grier’s free agency period was a disaster, and I’m only on the offensive side of the ball.
Let’s go to linebacker.
Anthony Walker Jr. hasn’t practiced since the first week of training camp but made the initial 53-man roster. By the time some of you read this, if Miami gets a roster claim, he may be the first guy out the door.
If he does stay, his status for the start of the regular season is iffy, to say the least.
Oh yeah, Shaq Barrett, who Grier signed in March, RETIRED out of the blue.
I mean, look, this isn’t a bad roster. It’s flawed and not better than last year’s, but it’s not bad.
This isn’t a bad team.
This team will have roughly the same record as last season and still have a high-powered offense.
But it feels like every move Chris Grier made this offseason, especially in March/April in free agency outside of Jordyn Brooks and Jordan Poyer, was a failure. And we don’t need to “see them play” to call it a failure because all of those guys he brought in are, for the most part, gone! They literally didn’t make the team, or the few that did, are starting the season injured, or on the PUP list or IR.
I think I see Rock’s thought bubble….’nuff said.’
… lol
I did not know two rookies made the team on OL….PP was expected, but Andrew Meyer? Wow…
AM….UDFA….just wow!
I didn’t make the team. I was a last minute cut. Still hoping for the PS.
Maybe, the youth movement has begun…rookies close in talent v vets, with greater upside….higher risk, higher reward…I read that somewhere…lol
’23 Cam Smith (IR/return) Devon Achane (active) Elijah Higgins (Cardinals) Ryan Hayes (waived/injured)
’22 Channing Tindall (active) Erik Ezukanma (waived) Cameron Goode (PUP) Skylar Thompson (active)
yes, we didn’t have a lot of early picks, but really the only one who’s worth anything on that list is Achane. I feel like we are going to add a vet QB at some point that drops Skylar down to QB 3 or cut.
I’ll leave this here . . .
(When you’ve coached defensive line, you’ve used a heavy rotation. That’s what you’re known for. Is that just your approach that you believe they’re best in waves?) – “Yeah, it’s kind of like the tsunami approach. I’m half-Samoan, I lived in Hawaii for a little while. They always say the first wave of the tsunami does damage, but the second wave does the most damage. So for me, sometimes people get overly concerned about who is starting the football games – that means nothing to me. I want to know who is finishing the football games. I think you’ve got your best chance at finishing football games when guys are fresh. You can’t do that at every position – particularly when there are bigs out there running around in this heat, you’re going to want to rotate them a little bit.”
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Maybe we’ve changed to the sun shower approach instead of a tsunami
5 fucking defensive linemen, 6 if you count Ogbah too. How fresh are these guys actually going to be? Stay tuned!
Lol…sun shower
🙂
I count Ogbah as a left DT, sometimes he’ll play the Edge, but primarily inside is my guess and mostly passing downs
Krishna’s article above the guy is bitching about the FAs signed early that are gone, WTF?
In March/April everyone was bitching about signing these nobody DTs to replace Wilkins…we thru a bunch of guys at it and the best survived, not sure why that’s a problem, especially after getting Calais
Unlike other years we’ll actually rotate the DL, so they’ll be fresher to close out the game, and late in the season
Mike,
Many of Chris Grier’s Free Agent Signings Didn’t Make the Roster (dolphinstalk.com)
I agree. This article I linked sums up my thoughts, and I rarely agree with these guys because most of them are suns and rainbows no matter what’s done. This free agency was a disaster outside of paying our dudes and that took a while, so it wasn’t optimal either. Like the author said, this roster isn’t bad. It just doesn’t feel great. We need waiver wire pickups right before the season starts when none of the players has even seen real action yet. The extreme jogging has already seen injuries. Not where you want to be after the easiest part of the season.
Yeah, the Dolphins said they were going to do one thing, and then went ahead and did another. If Sieler or Campbell miss some time, this D-line will be shite
lol…beer please
Who cares which FAs made the roster?
Now, if he’d brought in high priced guys and they didn’t make the 53, that would be a problem
Grier brought in lots of competition, and the cream rose, would you rather Grier had less competition and most of his FAs, even those stinkin it up during camp make 53?
Grier’s job isn’t only the first wave of FA, he also got UDFAs, draftees, and late FAs
Things finally look better for a late season run a d people are bitchin
Ah…the smell of despair in the morning…must be near the start of the season in Dolfan land!

But 17-0…
Let it play out a little sheesh…let’s see what the plan is for game 1
If things were that bad we can always bring in Hunter Renfrow
Tuesday moves: Released LS Blake Ferguson
Analysis: Remember when we talked about the likelihood of Walker going on IR on Wednesday? Well, the Dolphins needed a roster spot to be able to carry him because they used their two IR/return allotments of cutdown day on Cracraft and Smith and this is where we suspect it’s going to happen. The Dolphins obviously need to have a long-snapper on the roster and likely told Ferguson he’d be re-signed. Interestingly enough, the Buffalo Bills did that in 2021 and 2023 with none other than Blake’s brother Reid, who also is a long-snapper.
I thought we had 1 too many ILBs
the D looked great in PS, if that continues into the season we’ll be fine, if not the O will need to convert on critical 3rd downs at a higher rate, than last year
You can’t go by what the D did in PS, especially since they really were playing 9 guys on the DL. We’ll see how it works out
just like the games don’t count, but they matter, so goes the overall look of the D
Individually we had guys balling, secondary made lots of plays with tight coverage, unlike PS games of past years, it may not have mattered to you, but it sure did for Bonner and Duck
We just need to wait and see who clears waivers by 4pm.
Steve – I have no idea how it turns out. I’m disappointed they sold us on the rotation, and now we basically have 5 or 6 guys. One of them is 38, and another, NT Benito Jones is banged up.
it still is a rotation, did you want 10 guys rotating in?
The assumption was a rotation Fins never said that it was
We know Calais isn’t playing more than about 55% of the snaps, Sieler who knows, the rest will rotate in based on situation and how they’re playing
We signed so many DTs it was obvious they all weren’t going to make the 53, if we’d signed only 2 every would’ve been like WTF and been right
If they don’t bring Brooks back on the PS, I would get this kid. Small school but with blazing speed. He was a late cut by the Panthers.
Jeremy Fowler
Source: Veteran DL Neville Gallimore is on a plane to L.A. to sign with the #Rams’ 53-man roster.
I didn’t think he would clear waivers. It was rumored the Titans wanted him also.
Wow, the Rams release Jason Taylor (II) and Zach Thomas. lol
I missed this one. Chiefs cut ILB Curtis Jacobs from Penn State.
@AaronWilson_NFL
#Dolphins signing Dequan Jackson back to the practice squad today per a league source @KPRC2
Kind of odd. He’s only been with the team 9 days. We signed him on the 19th right before last preseason game. He was on Jags PS last year and with the Jags this year until May when they waived him. He didn’t get picked up by any other team until the Dolphins did 9 days ago.
@brgridiron
Dalvin Cook is signing with the Cowboys, per @TomPelissero
Browns are making a deal with someone to trade one of their QB’s. They say it’s not Winston. That leaves Huntley and Thompson-Robinson. Hope it is not us. Browns have a need at LB and we seem to be hoarding them right now.
Steve – It wasn’t an assumption, I just put it up. Weaver said it was going to be a heavy rotation. Da’Shawn Hand and Brandon Pili are the tsunami? You’re too easy on them sometimes bro, but maybe you just have more confidence in them than I do
I’m not even talking about the DL even though that’s part of it. Grier’s job is to give us a better roster year after year. It’s a hard task but did he accomplish it? I don’t think so. Who are the pieces that make us so much better than last year? What has been done to prevent the same of injury related collapse that happened last year? Let’s see look at the WR room…wait, let’s back out of that one!!! Let’s instead look at the 10 LBs we have….wait those guys are injured too….let’s look at how Cam Smith is doing…damn, nevermind!! This roster is stacked with non-injured studs just waiting for the 17-0!
Center Meyer was a really good find.
Meant to add this to last post:
Nik Needham signing to practice squad
Myles Gaskin and Bobby McCain signed to Vikes PS. Good for them
QB Bailey Zappe signing to Chiefs PS
Chiefs also bringing back WR Justyn Ross
Bills signing Frank Gore Jr to their PS
Pats claim ILB Curtis Jacobs off waivers
I didn’t see any others of significance who got claimed before clearing waivers.
@NFL_DovKleiman
Odell Beckham Jr. has been voted the most overrated NFL player of all time.
QB Jack Plummer signed to Panthers PS.
QB is going to thin out quick
@MikeGarafolo
The #Jets are signing former #Vikings S Lewis Cine to their practice squad, source says. The former first-round pick gets a fresh start.
@RapSheet
A surprise: The #Raiders are cutting DT Byron Young, their third-round pick from last year, source said. The Bama product was on the initial 53-man roster. Now, out.
@flasportsbuzz
NEW: Dolphins claim WR DuBose, bring back more veterans
Grant Dubose
@AdamHBeasley
Also … Dolphins neither trade for nor claim an offensive lineman. They truly like the group they have.
Dolphins had to have cleared a roster spot if they claimed this Dubose guy off waivers.
He’s 6’2 201 and ran a 4.57 forty at the combine
Drafted in 7th round last year by GB, was on their PS the whole season but never played an NFL snap yet.
Crabbs loves this guy says, he does what EZ does and plays really hard and blocks
Are they getting ready for the regular season or are they putting together for another training camp?

M – what do you think of 5 guys on the DL? Do you feel duped?
————–
I think the D-Line is the Achilles heel of our Defense at the moment. That may change in the coming days/weeks (especially after week 2 of the regular season).
Duped? Nah, I wouldn’t say duped. Underwhelmed would be more appropriate as to how I feel. Wish we could have somehow came away with DT Johnny Newton this past Draft… I’d feel much more confident about our D-Line.
@flasportsbuzz
I asked Grier if any attempts were made to trade for starting interior lineman or nose tackle. He said they’re open to anything if right opportunity arises but believes they’re good enough at both spots. He said he knows media has joked about how he says media worries more about OL than he does. Still the case.

@AdamHBeasley
Dolphins cut Jack Driscoll
———-
Wha?!! SMH
WTF! They had to make room for the WR they claimed off waivers. Now we know they cut for it to happen.
At least we still have 10 LB’s on the 53 and another on PS.
I went and looked at this WR Grant Dubose and came away impressed. He looks like what they had hoped Braylon Sanders would become. He’s got great hands, body control, runs good routes and can be tough to bring down.
Hope they bring back EZ to the PS also.
Confimed…
@MikeGarafolo
The #Dolphins have released OL Jack Driscoll, source says. Former #Eagles lineman was on Miami’s 53-man roster yesterday but let go today.
I bet Driscoll doesn’t clear waivers. I thought he was better than Cotton at least. He will probably get picked up by another AFCE team.
Probably so, knowing our luck.
@houtz
if you wanted a QB, tim boyle is your guy. added to the practice squad per chris grier
@CameronWolfe
Dolphins GM Chris Grier said they are signing QB Tim Boyle to their practice squad. He will be QB3. Mike McDaniel likes him, per Grier.
