Miami Dolphins need to ace NFL 2025 Free Agency!

Chris Grier, Mike McDaniel, the scouting department, and the rest of the analysts and consultants absolutely have to nail both their Free Agency signings, which by the way, begin Monday March 10th, and then also hit on several picks in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft, which begins April 24th. You can probably say that every year, but this season may very well be the last for Grier and McDaniel if this team doesn’t make the playoffs, or potentially even if they do make the playoffs and get wiped off the field in embarrassing fashion in their playoff appearance. Aside from that, we haven’t built a roster, we have so many roster spots that need to be filled, much more than usual, and that’s partly due to Grier signing a whole lot of 1 year contracts last season which have expired. I estimate we will be turning over nearly 30 roster spots, that’s an awful lot.

If you look at the photo for this article, it shows the Top 10 players available in 2025 NFL Free Agency. Yes, that’s our very own S Jevon Holland. Jevon Holland was our 2nd RD pick (#36) in 2021. He had a great rookie season, showed all the promise in the world. 2 INT’s, 2.5 sacks, 7 QB hits, really showing his ability as a blitzer. He had another very good season in year two, 2 more INT’s to add to his 2 INT’s in his rookie season, but made 96 tackles (77 solo). He suffered injuries to both knees in 2023, and that really limited his production as he missed 5 games, but played through the injury late in thew season after missing 4 games in a row. His play ineffectual though due to the injuries. Last season started with a bang with his play in Game 1 against Jacksonville with a game saving forced fumble strip near the at the 2 yard line after a 10 yard run which was either likely going to result in a TD for JAX late in the 3rd QTR with the Jaguars already leading in the game 17-7. That was a game changing play, and the Dolphins did manage to win this one as K Jason Sanders finished the comeback win as time expired with a thrilling 20-17 victory in a game the Dolphins did not play well in at all. Later in the season Holland broke his hand and although he played through pain in 15 games, his production just wasn’t there. Still, Holland just turned 25, and the young talented Free Agent Safety is going to net himself a huge contract. Incidentally, it won’t be us, because we just don’t have the money, and we need at least 3 safeties with only S Patrick McMorris on the roster.

OK, so on to Free Agency we go, so let’s look at some players the Dolphins can use, but also fit into their restricted cap space. I say restricted because currently we have only $12.1M available. It’s certainly possible another restructure or two happen before Monday, namely QB Tua Tagovailoa or WR Tyreek Hill or DB Jalen Ramsey, but I pray they don’t for it will tie them to the Dolphins beyond this season when we need to be responsible and have these players earn the right to be here in 2026. That being said, here are the players I think we need to look at and their positions . . .

OG Brandon Scherff – 6’5 315 – 34 YO – Estimated Market Value Annually $6.7M

Scherff is a 2015 1st RD Pick (#5), but an important fact is that he has played all 17 games throughout his entire 3 year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He might not be an All Pro OG at the moment, but he’s lightyears better than what we’ve had, and is an excellent pass protector.

OT/OG Mekhi Becton 6’7 363 – 26YO – Estimated Market Value Annually $10.2M

Becton resurrected his career last season playing RG for the Philadelphia Eagles. He obviously played for the rival NYJ at OT with mixed results, mostly unimpressive ones though. He did, however, play very well inside on that massive O-line in Philly. He would be a more expensive option because of his age, and there could be concern with a shorter QB (Tua Tagovailoa) seeing over him, but last I looked, Eagles QB Jalen Hurts is the same height, so . . .

OG Patrick Mekari 6’4 305 – 27 YO – Estimated Market Value Annually $10.3M

Mekari played in a lot of games for the Baltimore Ravens, but last season was the guard’s first full season of starting every game, all 17. He also has played both tackle spots giving him l;ots of versatility for the Dolphins. While his market value is on the high side, keep in mind this is a must hit for the Dolphins who simply can’t whiff on whomever they bring in at either OG spot.

S Jeremy Chinn 6’3 220 – 27 YO – Estimated Market Value Annually $6.1M

I have Chinn here because we need 2 starting safeties, and we can’t spend $10M + on both, or maybe even either of them. Chinn would clearly be the SS as he’s almost LB sized for a safety. He’s a very good tackler, not much of a ballhawk. He only has 3 career INT’s and averaged about 5 pass breakups a season. We had former Bills Safety Jordan Poyer in that role and he proved he was clearly on the wrong side of 30 and was abysmal for our defense last season. Having a sure tackling safety in the mix could only help us.

S Justin Reid 6’1 207 – 28 YO – Estimated Market Value Annually $15.5M

One expensive option is former KC Chiefs S Justin Reid. He fits in nicely as the FS for us. Very productive S with 10 career INT’s and a reliable, durable player who has played a lot of games for KC, and might I add, games in cold weather. While Jevon Holland may have more upside potentially, Reid is much more of a safer bet, and if we’re going to spend money, I’d rather invest in the safe bet than get burned giving the big money to Holland.

CB Kristian Fulton 5’11 197 – 26 YO – Estimated Market Value Annually $3.4M

Fulton would be a less expensive CB option, but one who started more games in ’24 than his more expensive teammate Asante Samuel. Fulton was drafted in the 2nd RD (#61) of the 2020 NFL Draft. He’s a 4 year starter who has missed a handful of games here and there. Nothing screams out we need this guy except that he’s a 4 year starter, he’s young, and we need corners!

CB Darius Slay 6’0 190 – 34 YO – Estimated Market Value Annually $13M

Darius Slay is coming off one of his best seasons at CB, at the ripe age of 33. After signing an older CB last season in Kendall Fuller, I have my reservations about signing one 5 years older than Fuller, especially at such a physically demanding position like CB, where after 30, your speed and acceleration tend to really slow down. He did as I said have a great season last year, so he apparently had enough left last season to play well, but at his potential asking price, we absolutely cannot afford to be wrong on this one!

CB Charvarius Ward 6’1 196 – 29 YO – Estimated Market Value $15.3M

Ward is a very productive starting CB who has a lot of starting game action under his belt. His best NFL season was in 2023 where he has 23 pass breakups (That’s a ton!), 5 INT’s with one TD return, 1 forced fumble and 72 tackles (56 solo). I’m not quite sure we can afford him, and while I’m on the topic of affordability, D.J. Reed, former NYJ CB will priced similarly. If we wanted younger talent, Byron Murphy is only 27, but he will be way out of our price range so out of the question.

__________________________________________________________________________________

Assuming Grier and Company are responsible and don’t squander any future cap space by restructuring bad contracts like Tua’s or Hill’s, to recoup some much needed cap space, it’s going to be a tough slog watching all these players snapped up who have much more available cap space, but that’s where we’re at. There are other positions of need as well, such as DT, and inside LB. I would hope we will be drafting those positions, but more than likely, regardless of whether we draft at those positions, we’ll be active in RD 2 of Free Agency which follows the draft, when the lesser expensive veteran talent is expelled after new talent is acquired in the draft. That’s how we handled it last season and I have o reason not to expect a repeat. Still unsure of whether DT/DE Calais Campbell will return and of course at what cost. He was a very inexpensive solution last season that we just can’t count on. As I’ve said in the past, we got extremely lucky with Campbell, that he was still around, that he accepted a low salary, and that his production was off the charts for a 38 year old defensive lineman.

While I’m pretty confident we won’t be heavily involved in the Jevon Holland sweepstakes, and I think it might be best for the team that we aren’t, I’m very curious as to what happens with him, and how he performs elsewhere after likely getting a tremendous pay raise in a huge free agency contract. Will he be healthy and play more like the rookie sensation, or will he always be dealing with injuries or just not really live up to the potential he showed early on? If this team is going to have success this season, it’s going to take a monumental job by Grier and staff. I just can’t stress that enough. The “Bully Bills” are still at the top, and the Patriots have a ton of cap room and a full complement of draft picks too. They have 9 picks, #4, #38, two third round picks, #69 and #77, #105 in RD 4, # in RD 5, and then two 7th RD picks, #22 and #240. The Patriots currently have the most cap space in the NFL. If the Jets can lock down a good starting QB, one that’s not 42 years old, they can be a tough get as well next season. I know oddsmakers probably have us ahead of both of those teams, but I’m not so sure about that. Grier is going to have a be a sniper and hit the greater majority of his targets in 2025.

  11. Randy's avatar Randy says:

I understand that we don’t have much money to throw around, but this off-season is feeling a whole lot like every other off-season so far. We have one possible starter from free agency so far and he’s coming off a major injury. Maybe we found a new starting safety, but I’m not ready to say he’s an answer.

again, I know we didn’t have much money to make moves, but I’m kind of tired of signing guys with injuries or injury histories and hoping they turn around and come back. That seems to be a theme for Grier.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

FAs coming off of injuries is more prominent than you may think. It’s not just us. A lot of players get hurt in this league.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Tim- but we’re going to be relying on Daniels to not only start right away but to be a good starter. Hopefully he can, but we’re not signing depth guys, we need to hit everything. The roster is empty

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

He cleared medical so he should be good to go.

I don’t view the roster as empty.

  12. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Bringing back Dodson was a good signing. He was our next best LB other than Brooks. Those our starting off ball LBs.

  13. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I understand that we don’t have much money to throw around, but this off-season is feeling a whole lot like every other off-season so far.

    ———-

Randy, agree 100%. As Tim said, we have our 2 starting ILB for the next 2 years and Edge/OLB is set. We got a really good RG prior to his injury, who knows if he will be ready for TC though and not have any setbacks. We need 2 starting DT’s a boundary CB, LG and depth everywhere except maybe WR.

I feel my mock draft needs have not changed much at all.

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Other teams in cap hell including ones worse off than the Dolphins have been signing higher priced FA’s. The big difference is the Dolphins have a ton more holes to fill than those other teams and have to spread it around.

  14. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Well, Mariota was too expensive for the Dolphins so there’s that.

QB Marcus Mariota is re-signing with Washington on a one-year, $8 million contract, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported.

  15. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Start of new league year today, that means cap roll over number are added to each teams cap. Dolphins roll over looks like around 6.6 million putting their season cap at 285.8 million instead of the initial 297.2 million.

This puts our top 51 cap available back up to 14.5 million, BUT still waiting on contracts on Tyrel Dodson, Nick Westbrook, Elijah Campbell, Quentin Bell, Ashtyn Davis and Larry Borom to hit.

Four of those six are 1yr contracts so they will all count against the 2025 cap. Again, subtract 840K from each of those to get the actual hit on the top 51 cap. We will have to see how Dodson’s 2yr 8.2 million and Westbrook’s 2yr 6.2 million contracts break down.

To get a ball park, if you just split Dodson and Westbrook down the middle along with the 4 1yr deals, that is around a 14.3 million cap hit. Subtract the 840K on each for bumping the 6 bottom feeders out of the top 51. That puts us right around 5.2 in available cap right now.

  16. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I don’t think we see any restructure of Tyreek. I think he is gone in a trade next year and will clear 36 million in a pre 6/1 release. He is not tradable as he will cost a team trading for him 36 million. He won’t be a Dolphin with a 51.9 million cap hit in 2026.

He is post 6/1 tradable this year though.

  17. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

After reading about prospects and looking at our needs, I did my own mock based on value = need. I was trying to round out the roster with positions that need new blood and talent. I used several sources to get an idea of common ratings.

    1. 13 DT/NT Kenneth Grant, MI
    2. 48 OG Tyler Booker, AL
    3. 98 LB Jeffrey Bassa, OR
    4. 116 CB Cobee Bryant, KS
    4. 135 TE Mitchell Evans, ND

I stopped after the 4th round because I’m not going to go that deep into it. 😂

  18. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Good blocker who can catch some passes to help keep the chains moving. He’s a 4th round pick. Jonnu is our playmaker.

    —————-

Tim, he’s a good pick. I think he will be better than Smythe who was drafted earlier in the 4th. He’s big and faster than Smythe. Maybe even a better blocker and about same as a receiver. Smythe dropped off last year. Evans would be a good replacement, I just have my favs. lol

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

He grades better in blocking than 5 of the 7 TE’s ranked ahead of him. The 2 who rank ahead of him in blocking of the top 7 do so just barely.

Later in the draft, you find your better blocking TE’s anyway.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

All good. When you have a TE like him on the field, it doesn’t say anything about what you’re going to run because Hill, Waddle, another WR and Achane could be on the field. Are we definitely running? Nope! But he will help block the play.

  19. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

I like the resigning of Dodson and Bell! I thought they improved our LB play at the end of year from where it was at the beginning.

  20. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The way I look at a roster is do you have a starting offense and defense

On offense I think we do. We’re still working on the OL but we have plenty of skill players.

On defense we need to add to each level of the defense but we do have talent at each level as well. Depth will be the key.

We have a good draft with 11 picks which might end up as 7-9.

I have confidence we can rebound and be in the playoff mix again. We need a little more good fortune. 🙂

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I think we need to add an OG, DE, NT, CB and then TE and LB are a little more “luxury” additions

Would be nice to address 2 of those first 4 before the draft if possible

  21. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Anyone hear anything about Mekhi Becton, Brandon Scherff or Will Hernandez

seems like there are still starting OGs available

do we cap room for any of them?

I read the bengals were getting ready to make a run at Scherff

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Let’s not forget getting Austin Jackson back, second year Patrick Paul, Brewer is our center, added Daniels, a versatile depth guy in Borom, and some other guys in our organization are part of the plan. It’s not the same OL of the past few years.

  22. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

little surprised we haven’t heard more about Luke Lachey

  23. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

As a result of the adjustments, the Dolphins ended up with more than $6 million more cap space, per figures from the NFLPA with a final cap number of $285.9 million.

While the extra space isn’t going to change the Dolphins’ offseason strategy, any additional space obviously helps.

The Dolphins rank 19th in adjusted cap space.

  24. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

Dolphins have Chris Grier to blame for the frustrating start to free agency

It always comes back to bite you at some point.

    ByBrian Miller|51 minutes ago

    _______

    ooph…lol

  25. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

It’s all fun when you have the money to spend, but eventually, it comes back to haunt you when you are not careful. Miami Dolphins GM Chris Grier is finding that out.

The Dolphins entered free agency with a lot of needs, but not a lot of money to fix them. Stephen Ross is an open checkbook, but the “fake” salary cap can only go so far before it actually becomes a cap. Grier is finding that out this year.

  26. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

Grier is finding that out this year.

Grier was in a perfect position to rebuild the Dolphins’ roster in 2019 but failed. The Dolphins are just better than they used to be, maybe more exciting, but definitely just as disappointing in the end. This year, the bill is coming due, and Grier doesn’t have a lot of options.

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins have tried to sign “quality” free agents but have been handcuffed by their salary situation.

  27. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

Why is this important? Imagine your boss telling you every year that you have no restrictions on your job, but you still don’t do enough to make him the kind of money he wants or needs. Then, when your job might actually be on the line, your past spending stands in the way of another season.

Grier could have avoided everything he is dealing with this year. He chose not to keep Christian Wilkins, Andrew Van Ginkel, and Robert Hunt. He chose to go with much cheaper options at guard and overpay for a historically injured left tackle. He traded draft assets for a speedy wide receiver and has had to pay him twice to keep him happy. He gave new money to a cornerback under contract and a massive deal to a linebacker who hasn’t made the impact he needs to.

  28. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

Have we talked about the quarterback yet?

Chris Grier’s poor cap management is hurting Dolphins in free agency

Ross is standing in the doorway with a checkbook in his hand, but the Dolphins can’t do much without the risk of running into cap problems. For all those who say the cap isn’t real, it is when you have holes on the roster and few options to increase what you can spend.

So far, the free-agent signings haven’t been horrible, but guards James Daniels and Larry Borom are not going to single-handedly fix the offense. Safety and cornerback remain glaring issues, and the Dolphins have two defensive tackles on the roster.

  29. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

    Are the Dolphins getting better?

The full picture isn’t clear yet, so we can’t answer it. Despite quality additions, the Dolphins are still bargain shopping because they have no choice, and ultimately, the core players returning from last season will be responsible for this team’s success.

Grier must take the blame. His spending habits of overpaying players have not worked in his favor, and he doesn’t have an out until after the 2025 season.

  30. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Right now, it looks like Grier is trying to do it my not mortgaging more of the future. He did with Chubb but only a 5 mill dead cap increase. He could have done it with Tua, Jackson and Seiler, but hasn’t.

  31. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

  39. Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

I’m happy with what we’ve done thus far we couldn’t do much with what we had to work with, and if Daniels is healthy he should be a good value signing. We need solid OL play, not all pros at every spot. Dodson played really well for the D after we picked him up, si it’s goi that he’s back. Hoping for a G in the draft, but even if we don’t get one there there is always post June 1 cuts. Ideally, we get Warren at 13 and a G at 48.

  40. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

The draft is still 6 weeks away. Many mocks to go!

  41. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I can’t see us NOT trading down from R1P13 as it currently stands, but for one circumstance: we don’t get a legit vet CB opposite Ramsey and Will Johnson is still on the board @ R1P13. We need another day 2 pick, IMO. Trading down will give us another pick(s) to fill more needs, or to move up and down the board to get the players who are scheme-fits for us.

Sure, Grier could borrow from the ’26 Draft cupboard like he did last year (spend our 3rd rounder this year to get Jalen Wright in the 4th last year), but I’m pretty sure that’s going to be very much frowned upon being he’s on the hot seat.

That’s just the way I see it, at the moment. Things could change, so we’ll see.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

We have a lot of options with our draft.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Not when it comes to scheme-fit players, IMO. Yeah, we can get some guys who are fairly good players… but will they excel in our scheme?

That’s so very, very important. I’m not trying to nitpick your mock draft above, but Tyler Booker ain’t gonna cut the mustard in the ZBS we employ. He’s built for a standard blocking scheme being he’s got very limited mobility.

He might be great for another team, to be sure! But he’s not a system-fit for us.

  42. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I saw a mock draft today that had Armand Membou going R1P2 to the Browns. WTF!!!

The honeymoon after the Combine will soon be over, and I believe he may fall to us @ R1P13 once everybody regains their sanity.

Membou would be the PERFECT system-fit for us.

  43. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

M13, football players are just that. I’m tired of he’s too stiff to do this or that. Do your job on that play. Prospects aren’t perfect in every way. But they can play football.

You have to find players who can compete at the NFL level. Scheme fit doesn’t mean good enough. He’s really athletic but doesn’t have the strength to compete at the next level. He’s huge and really strong but he’s not athletic enough. Football players like where!

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I meant to say at the end is football players are better than combine warriors because it froze on me.

QB Mac Jones and the 49ers have agreed to a two-year, $7M deal that includes $5M guaranteed, per source. It’s worth up to $11.5M in incentives. Intriguing fit for Jones, who was frequently linked to the Niners prior to the 2021 NFL Draft.

  49. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Keep upgrading the OL as much as need be, I think we have plenty of draft picks to supplement that and the defense which has already started.

The DL needs an influx from the draft. We have edge and safety competition. We need some LB and corner help.

We appear to be solid at K and P.

  50. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I’ll get more into this stuff in my article but we got a lot of bodies so far, and with the exception of James Daniels who is a legit starter, albeit one coming off an achilles tear, nothing that has made me feel like we upgraded our team in any way. Looks like we’re going to be heading into the draft looking for starters at a bunch of positions, ones which Grier and Company have been fucking up on an annual basis. On the other hand, thankfully they haven’t touched Tua’s salary or Tyreek’s salary for a restructure. That will be the last straw for me.

Steelers have been loading up their OL through the draft the last couple of years. Their OL is solid. LT Broderick Jones, LG Issac Seumalo, C Zach Frazier, RG Mason McCormick, RT Troy Fantanu.

Steelers roster is solid. They just need to add a QB, OL depth and CB depth. They have all their starters in place minus a QB.

I would not be surprised to see Steelers go OL, CB and DT in the draft. I think they may target CB Jahdea Barron, LT Grey Zabel or OG Tyler Booker at pick #21.

    • Key additions: QB Zach Wilson, DB Ifeatu Melifonwu, OG James Daniels
    • Key re-signings: CB Kader Kohou
    • Key departures: S Jevon Holland (Giants), G Robert Jones (Cowboys)

The Dolphins lost their star safety in free agency, which wasn’t a big surprise, but Melifonwu is an intriguing replacement — if he can remain healthy. James Daniels is a solid addition, as he’s a legitimate starting offensive guard. Zach Wilson is decent Tua Tagovailoa injury insurance since he’s started 33 games.

I honestly think it’s just that simple on addressing the DL

    just re-sign those two guys

It’s a deep draft for DL

we dna draft some one and not rush them to start between those vets

I’d prefer to stay where we are and take the BPA or even trade up a bit for a guy we’re really high on. Same in the 2nd round. We have the draft capital to do it and still add a decent amount of prospects at multiple positions.

I’m taking a good look at Wyatt Milum, T, West Virginia. He’s got alligator arms for a Tackle (32 1/8″), yet his wingspan is 79.5″, at 6’6″ and 313 pounds.

He’s one of the very best zone-blocking O-Linemen in this Draft class, yet he’s a name not often mentioned. Yes, he’d be another prime candidate to move inside to Guard what with his T-Rex-sized arms.

He held his own against PSU’s Abdul Carter, though he took more losses than wins, IMO.

I wish he was built more solidly with a lower center of gravity (that’s me), but I was wondering if any of you had an opinion on Milum. Yes, I’m pretty sure SOMEBODY here has mocked him to us (probably many times over the THOUSANDS of mock drafts all of us do! LOL), but I’m wondering if anybody here thinks he could be a legit starting LG for us.

If so, he could be a surprise 2nd round pick for us. I just wish he was more like 6’4″ and 320 pounds.

  85. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The more I think about the Mattison signing the more I like it. I’ve watched him play a bunch of times. I always thought he looked just like Dalvin Cook when he backed him up. Sometimes I wasn’t sure which one it was.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

JMO, but I think we can/could find a younger, fresher version of Mattison via day 3 of the Draft or even via UDFA. THAT is a certain benefit when your O-Line is constructed the correct way with a ZBS/OZB.

That being stated, YES… Mattison was incredible in relief of Calvin Cook back in the day.

  86. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Many of you who are doing mock drafts have us taking 3 DL and at least 2-3 OL. I do think that’s realistic. We have 11 picks but if we turn that into 7-9 which I think is possible, maybe we have a broader positional draft.

  87. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The re-signing of Eichenberg isn’t surprising to me. He’s versatile, knows the system and he’s a team oriented guy. Every team has guys like this. He’s our new Jesse Davis. 😂

  88. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I would rather have seen Wynn resigned than Eich.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I don’t think either was stellar

but Eichenberg has versatile that Wynn doesn’t – and that’s really the difference when it comes to depth on the OL imo

I think via free agency or the draft we are still eyeing our starting guard on the other side of Daniels

if that’s correct, having a guy like Eich who can play every position on the bench has a lot of value

  89. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Dolphins roster is at 64 players right now with 11 contracts waiting to hit the books. That will probably put our available top 51 cap at around 2 million.

The Eich and Mattison signings should be around 1.5 each is my guess. Not much cap hit as we are up to subtracting 960K on players signed now from those dropping out of the top 51.

  90. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Now is the perfect time to extend Phillips. We need more cap space. He’s coming off his second major injury. Should be able to get him on a 3yr extension on a good discounted price and clear more cap for some more bottom tier FA and rookie signings.

  91. Randy's avatar Randy says:

We resigned Eich? Super Bowl here we come! F’ing aye!

We also have a Hawkeye on the OL in Daniels, so we’re good now. Daniels actually played center at Iowa, so he’s got some versatility too.
