Miami Dolphins 2025 Season Schedule

OK Dolphins fans, the schedule is out, so now we know who we’re playing, when we’re playing, and where we’re playing. Just looking over the schedule there’s nothing in particular that jumps out at you as unfair. We play the Buffalo Bills in September in Week 3 on Thursday Night Football. That game follows a home game against another division rival, the New England Patriots. There should be 3 potential cold weather games this season, Week 14 (Dec 7th) at the New York Jets. The very next game will definitely be a cold one, December 15th at The Pittsburgh Steelers. The season finale will have us square off against the New England Patriots and the time of that game has yet to be determined. We do “lose” a home game because we’re the “Home Team” in Madrid as we face off against the NFC East Washington Commanders.

If you want to call anything unfair it’s that we don’t have many home games where the heat can really fry the opponent. We do get the Patriots at 1PM Week 2 at home, and we also host the LA Chargers at 1PM, so those games the heat will be our friend. Remarkably, for a team that finished outside of the playoffs and with a losing record, we’re part of FIVE Prime Time games. Week 3 at Buffalo on Thursday Night Football. Week 4 on Monday Night Football at home for the NY Jets. Then once again on Thursday Night Football at home against the Baltimore Ravens. Number 5 will be a mid December matchup which surely should bring the cold at the Pittsburgh Steelers for a Monday Night game. It’s very odd to me that we’re featured in so many prime time games, I actually don’t get it. The Vegas money is strong on under 8 wins, and you have to really lay it down to make anything if you bet the under. If you’re confident, as many of you are here, plunk down some serious money on over 8.5 WINS and you’ll make some nice cash and you can say “I told you!” as you Count de Money.

I actually think the odds makers are right on target, I think we’ll win anywhere from 7-9 games and that’s if Tua stays healthy and the offense isn’t the same offense we saw last season, but a little closer to the 2023 offense where we can run the ball well and actually throw passes beyond 10 yards. The O-line has poor depth, the defensive line while seemingly brimming with some big young players, is just that. We have some young guys we hope can play well right out of the chute, but we’ll be relying not only on our 1st RD pick Kenneth Grant to ball, but our 5th RD pick DT Jordan Phillips, 7th RD pick DT Zeek Biggers, and bevy of UDFA DT’s as well. We’ll also be leaning heavily on 2nd RD pick Jonah Savaiinaea at RG and 2nd year LT Patrick Paul too. The depth behind these guys is not great, so not only do we need these guys to play well, we need them to stay healthy. I haven’t even mentioned the secondary which if the plan is to trade Jalen Ramsey for future draft picks, that secondary is going to be awful thin with 2 YR veteran CB Cam Smith along with last year’s UDFA Storm Duck, 3 year vet NB and slot CB Kader Kohou as well as 5th RD pick CB Jason Marshall as well as some other UDFA’s. At Safety, we have two journeyman who have started a very limited amount of games over their careers, SS Ifeatu Melifonwu and FS Ashtyn Davis. We drafted a S in RD 5 five spots after we drafted CB Jason Marshall, we took S Dante Trader. Last year’s 6th RD pick S Patrick McMorris will also be in the mix, as well as a few UDFA’s. Lot’s of battles, lot’s of bodies everywhere, and then we have to hope we choose the right ones that can help our team.

On offense, as I mentioned, we have to play more like we did in 2023 when we were one of the top offensive units. That means running the ball effectively, and throwing the ball downfield for explosive plays. Both were missing last year, but we did bring in TE Pharoah Brown who is a very physical player in the run game as a blocker and physical when he has the ball as well. Will Tyreek Hill be back to 2023 form or will he be a distraction and a malcontent as he was at the conclusion of the season when he pulled himself out of the season finale due to being frustrated? I have the guy’s jersey and to be honest, I couldn’t care less whether he’s on the roster or not. I’m sure he will be because he’s difficult to trade and if he’s in line with what’s happening, he’s better than anyone we else we have on this team. I like the add of WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, a bigger, better red zone threat at WR, especially compared to the more diminutive Hill and Waddle. I loved TE Jonnu Smith last season, hopefilly he picks where he left off last season.

It’s tough for me to be really optimistic, I felt like we partially filled 2 holes, and left some gaping holes in the secondary. I know some feel we’ll be OK, but in reality, when you’re relying on a couple of journeymen safeties, 2 outside CB’s who wouldn’t even be close to be considered as starting material for the other 31 teams, a bunch of safeties who would be competing just to make the roster and likely be depth pieces, it’s hard to feel like everything will fall into place just right in that secondary. Who knows, I’m a jaded SOB who just can’t give this front office a pass any longer, but maybe whatever they did this offseason will end up working out. Maybe Tua can stay healthy and not play in bubble wrap and help the team win games this season. Maybe RB’s Jaylen Wright and newly drafted 6th RDer Ollie Gordon bring a physical run game to Miami along with our new O-line guys, James Daniels, Jonah Savaiinaea and Patrick Paul, our massive LT. That wouldn’t bother me at all, I just wouldn’t bet on it.

NFL owners have now officially approved a resolution to allow their players to participate in flag football in the 2028 Summer Olympics — 32-0. No surprise, but significant. The NFL’s version of The Dream Team is coming.

According to Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald, the Dolphins have reached out to free agent cornerback Asante Samuel Jr. The 25-year-old is coming off neck surgery in April and will meet with teams in July.

However, Jackson reports that the Dolphins reached out to Samuel and have an interest in the four-year starter. Jackson wrote, “The Dolphins… have not made an offer to Samuel and have not brought him in for a visit, a source said.”

    From a Sports Illustrated article

    ARMSTEAD HIGH ON HUNT

Speaking of Armstead, he appeared on the podcast of former NFL quarterback Chris Simms and was asked for his number 1 “bad ass” offensive lineman at the moment.

He gave a shout-out to a former Dolphins teammate of two seasons.

“This will surprise you a little bit,” Armstead said, “but you go back and you watch this guy’s tape,
you will understand exactly what i’m saying. Robert Hunt.”

  13. Randy's avatar Randy says:

Hunt is the sort of guy who can bring an attitude and toughness to an OL. These guys don’t value that, so they were never going to keep him.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Grier is your MLM guy, that takes shortcuts, instead of building it right

when it came time for him to sign Hunt he’d already blown his wad

  14. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

why are we reaching out to ASJ, while he’s going thru neck surgery?

so the guy that can’t tackle is going to be some how good to start the season and even want to tackle

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Maybe because he can actually play? Covering the receiver counts too and I’m not sure we have a CB on the roster that can do that adequately. We paid our injury prone QB $212M why not do the same for an injury prone CB?

  15. Randy's avatar Randy says:

I’m not bringing in any older, injury history, high priced guys right now. I don’t care how many games we win this year. Frankly, less would be better in the long term, but I never root for losing. Win as many as you can but don’t start building a foundation with old, cracked bricks.

Unless those guys are going to be great locker room guys who you think can teach younger guys how to be pros, I’m not interested. And, I don’t trust their ability to identify real leaders.

  16. Wyoming85's avatar Wyoming85 says:

A ban of the Push Tush play that the Philadelphia Eagles popularized did not receive enough votes at today’s league meeting in Minneapolis. The play remains alive. There will be more tush pushes this season.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Good! No reason for it to be banned. Figure out a way to stop it and it will go away or at least diminish. Glad they didn’t ban it.

      • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Then it should not be illegal for a defensive player to push too! That gay ass play should ABSOLUTELY be banned

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

BOOOO! unbalanced officiating at it’s finest! That truely sucks ass.

  17. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    MikeE,

I was just talking in general. I’m just not convinced these guys know how to build a team.

  18. Randy's avatar Randy says:

Is the rule still that you can’t carry a ball carrier? That’s always how it was. If they do that in the tush push, that’s a foul. If they don’t, it’s not. You can push a pile until the whistle blows, but you can’t pick a guy off the ground and move him forward.

What amazes me in this is that usually the NFL is a copycat league, and no other team has been able to replicate this play.

You could also just move the XP attempt back a yard.

  19. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Rock – The teams voted, and as far as I know, Only 1 team (Philadelphia Eagles) have really been successful doing it. What are you crying about?

  20. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

The NFL just continues to prove themselves hypocrites and that the league is ONLY about the money. They say that they worry over player safety but that is bull shit. Putting players in that scrum and putting 1000s of pounds of pressure on their joints is not safe. It WILL lead to injuries. The NFL doesn’t care though. Years ago they decided that they want more points scored in games because it is more exciting, so they started tweaking the rules to favor the offense over the defense. This is just one more example. Make it legal for multiple people to line up over the center and PUSH BACK if you want to allow players to push!

  21. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Figure out a way to stop it and it will go away or at least diminish. Glad they didn’t ban it

Except the league ALREADY banned the way to stop it. Allow Defensive player to PUSH BACK! then it would be fair.

  22. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Doesn’t it seem like everything turns into drama these days?

  23. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I’m kind of surprised they didn’t ban it. The competition committee, the health and safety committee, and the commissioner all want the play banned.

  24. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I’m not sure how many of you have played Madden. I have been replaying the ’24 season in “Franchise mode” and the game often throws out little shit to deal with that is not “in game action” Well, the other day it generated a problem for the team with Hill not being happy because I was calling too many run plans and was not getting him the ball enough, so Hill insists on having a meeting with me and tells me that he is unhappy and that I BETTER get him at least 10 catches AND TWO rushing attempts before they game.

Then I played the game and it was raining, like POURING the entire game, so after the first pick I pretty much ran the rest of the game when ever I could.

So I didn’t “live up to my promise” to him in that game so I have to have another meeting with him and he tells me that I lied to him and that he better be the focus of the offense the rest of the year moving forward. I ask (as McDaniel) so what if that doesn’t happen and his response was “you don’t want to find out, Bet!”

So, I immediately opened the trade function and dumped his ass to the Browns for their #2 WR, a 2025 1st round pick, 2nd round pick and a 2026 3rd round pick. Bubye! LOL

It felt so good to do that, even in make believe Madden.

Of course now my offense doesn’t work, so there is that….. LOL

Among the 10 teams who voted against baning the “tush push” — or “Brotherly Love” — were the Dolphins, according to ESPN reporter Adam Schefter.

  29. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

PLAYOFF FORMAT ALSO MAINTAINS STATUS QUO

If the NFL playoff format is to change, it’s going to happen down the line and not in 2025.

The Detroit Lions have withdrawn their proposal to change the format, away from giving division winners and rewarding those with the best regards, so it will not be voted on at the spring meetings in Minnesota. It’s entirely possible the issue will be revisited, but logic suggests it might be part of a reshuffling of the scheduling format once the league inevitably moves to an 18-game regular season.

  30. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

The Dolphins were joined by the Eagles (obviously), Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints, New York Jets and Tennessee Titans to vote down the proposal to make the tush push illegal. The vote missed by 2 teams, needing 24 yes votes to pass and only receiving 22

NFL announces new league award ahead of 2025 season

As the NFL season kicks off in a bit over three months, Yahoo Sports announced that the NFL will add another yearly award called the “Protector of the Year.” The award will go to the league’s best offensive lineman when it goes into effect next season.

  33. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Rock mentions it and boom, what do I come across?

Another Tyreek post 6/1 trade scenario. This one sends Tyreek to the Raiders. Pete Carroll wants to win now with Geno Smith and has built a good defense on paper at least. They need WR help to team up with Jakobi Myers, rookie Jack Bech, Brock Bowers and new rookie RB Ashton Jeanty.

Said Raiders would probably give up a 2026 2nd.

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I wouldn’t call it “significant” and I still don’t think a team should have to declare when they are going to do it. I think that defeats some purpose.

    ————-

The neck surgery has already been done. His medical checkup comes in July, and the Saints are in hot pursuit of him.

If his medical clears post-surgery, he’s going to be in demand… and we’re going to need a CB. ASJ’s speciality is zone-coverage… and that’s what Anthony Weaver runs.

If his medical doesn’t clear post-surgery, we were only doing due diligence.

We have to do due diligence at this point, regarding our Secondary, Brother.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Via mistake, error, and gross negligence… Grier necessarily had to address our D-Line and O-Line this past Draft. And now, the imbalance is within our Secondary.

After Ramsey gets traded post-June 1st, our Secondary will be our Achilles heel.

So IF our DF7 is as good as it can be (no injuries!), we can become even better by adding starting caliber CBs via FA.

Ronnie Radke got in a beef about Ariana Grande’s song “God is a Woman” years ago. He wasn’t arguing against the lyrics just that he said because men obsess over women, it doesn’t make a woman “God”.

Anyway, he just released a video “God is a Weapon”. It’s not a religious song. In it he says “If God is a Woman, then God is a Weapon”. Meaning women have power over men through lust and obsession and can destroy the strongest of men as they have throughout time.

    Accentuate the positive

The Dolphins added former Titans punter Ryan Stonehouse, who appeared in 46 games over his three-year career. A 2022 undrafted rookie out of Colorado State, Stonehouse holds the top two single-season punting averages in NFL history (53.1 yards and 53.06 yards).

Aukerman was Stonehouse’s special teams coordinator for both of those seasons. Stonehouse was a Pro Bowl alternate last season after finishing third in yards per punt and recording a career-long 75-yarder, but became a free agent after Tennessee declined to extend a restricted free agent tender.

I hope he beats out Jake Bailey for the job this season.

If this team is punting a lot, we’re going to be losing a lot. The offense needs to carry this team

Yeah, but even the best teams have and use punters. I like the idea of having one with a big leg that can flip field position and pin the other team back behind the 20.

Even in our record offensive ’23 season we punted 53 times.

I am the only one in the office today. One boss is on vacation, the other is at a job site in Texas, the office manager has a medical procedure today, the receptionist doesn’t work on Fridays and the IT guy decided to “work” from home today while all the project managers NEVER come in on Fridays. I have stuff I can be doing obviously.

I just don’t want to. LOL

Someone come here and entertain me!

I just read an article that says Cameron Wolfe from ESPN is saying that the Dolphins may have to wait until July 1st to move Ramsey because of Salary cap issues.

    ———

Yeah, got to be a brainfart. Ramsey does have an option bonus due but that is not until week 1 of the season in September. That is what makes the trade difficult and why we will be lucky to get a 4th. Probably get a 5th.

I just read another article that referenced the Cameron Wolfe article. Says the Dolphins are in no rush to trade Ramsey and that they may to wait until as late as July.

Though, I don’t know where they get their #’s from but they say Ramsey’s cap hit pre 6/1 is 25m but actually pre 6/1 it’s 29.2m in dead cap.

Then they say a post 6/1 trade will clear 7m in cap but per Spotrac, it will only clear 5.9m in 2025 cap.

Rock, what I was saying is I don’t really have much to write about. Mike was suggesting me and others to write a more positive article. I’m hopeful we’ll be a good team this year but not convinced at this time.

The College Football Playoff will go to a more straightforward way of filling the bracket next season, placing teams strictly on where they are ranked instead of moving pieces around to reward conference champions.
