Here we go, the season is finally upon us! The final injury repot will be out later today and I’m sure someone here will give us that update. The good news is it appears as if starting RT Austin Jackson will be starting, giving us our absolute best O-line possible. LT Patrick Paul – LG Jonah Savaiinaea – C Aaron Brewer – RG James Daniels – RT Austin Jackson. The one thing I can say is I feel at the very least, if everyone on this line can stay healthy, is that the O-line won’t be the biggest problem on the team, and that means a lot. I think Patrick Paul is ready to be a better than average left tackle. I think rookie LG Jonah Savaiinaea will be competent enough, making mistakes at times, but should be average. C Aaron Brewer is a good move center and while he might struggle some against much larger powerful interior defensive linemen, he’s a good player. James Daniels is a solid run blocker throughout his career but I do worry about him coming back from a torn achilles. Being in the trenches is a bad place for that kind of injury. RT Austin Jackson has become a competent right tackle, but he has had trouble staying healthy and the depth, as we all know is less than stellar. Bears FA RT Larry Borom would be next up there, or possibly Kendall Lamm or Kion Smith if Borom struggled. We need Jackson healthy.
The defense is what could be extremely interesting. That front seven and the different iterations could be exciting. It looks like they’re going to try to get as many of our pass rushers on the field as possible in certain formations, so instead of the usual 3-4 alignment, we might see some more 4-3, featuring a defensive line of the following,
LDE Chop Robinson
LDT Zach Sieler
RDT Benito Jones
RDE Bradley Chubb
and then have a linebacker unit of this,
WLB Jordyn Brooks
MLB Tyrel Dodson
SLB Jaelan Phillips
That’s a lot of pass rush talent on the field in that base defense featuring Chop and Chubb on the D-line, and then Jaelan Phillips at strong linebacker. Of course there’s Zach Sieler too, who has been a double digit sack man the last 2 seasons. This doesn’t mean we won’t be playing the 3-4 alignment as well, we will for sure, because the glaring omission here is our #1 draft pick DT Kenneth Grant, who will be playing 3-4 END opposite Sieler and next to NT Benito Jones. Grant wasn’t forgotten or skipped by any means, but the allure of having Chop, Chubb and Phillips all on the field is understandable.
The secondary is one place I honestly have no idea what to expect at all, I mean literally zero expectations for better or for worse. Will FS Minkah Fitzpatrick resemble the Pittsburgh Steelers safety from the last 2 seasons which was underwhelming and no resemblance to his former All Pro career, or will the change back to FS bring him back to where he was in 2023? It appears as if Ify Melfinonwu has taken a seat and now former Jet safety Ashtyn Davis will be given the nod at SS. Davis hasn’t been healthy and not sure how he could be ready at this point, but it’s happening regardless. At CB, Jack Jones will play LCB with Storm Duck at RCB and rookie Jason Marshall will be the nickel back. Rasul Douglas will be available if either of these guys struggle. To be fair though, Rasul Douglas had admitted that he doesn’t quite understand where and what he’s supposed to be doing yet, so Jones gets the nod for now.
On offense, we have to hope De’Von Achane is truly healthy and able to stay that way. He’s going to get a lot of touches if we go by last season, but rookie RB Ollie Gordon is just rearing to go and I like what I’ve seen him from him. I like the physicality of his game and welcome it. He’s more suited to getting a lot of carries. Then there’s RB Jaylen Wright who will not play this week due to injury. I won’t be surprised if Jaylen Wright takes a back seat on the depth chart behind Ollie Gordon, and stays there. If Ollie runs like I expect, there’s no reason for Wright who showed little last season to jump ahead. WR’s Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle seem healthy and slot WR Malik Washington looks great, so looking forward to his game this season. At TE, who the hell knows, and it’s the one thing that still has me wondering if these guys actually know what they’re doing. Apparently, TE Darren Waller will be starting, despite logging 3 minutes of practice, followed by Julian Hill and Tanner Conner. There’s also the wild card at wide receiver, WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine who really failed to turn heads so far, but he’s a bigger bodied receiver coming off a nice season last year, so hopefully we can work him in for some big plays.
Special Teams has looked better than ever, with the exception of the K Jason Sanders injury which will keep him OUT for weeks. That sucks, because Sanders can bang them in from the high 50’s, and that aspect of our game went out the window. Mike McDaniel loves to gamble though, so I would imagine he’ll be doing just that and more often than you would expect. I love the return game which will be handled by WR Malik Washington. He looks as good or better in the return game as he does running routes, and that’s great. Our defensive special teams seems significantly better on kick return and punt return coverage, and that’s also a huge improvement from last season.
I expect QB Tua to feast on Sunday, he loves Game 1, the season opener. We look like Super Bowl contenders in Week 1, and I expect that trend to continue. WR Jaylen Waddle failed to reach 1000 yards for the first time last season and I hope the Dolphins look to remedy this. Waddle is the team’s heir apparent to #1 WR after this season, so they better find a way to get him more involved and keep him happy. I think the offense will be very good this week, with contributions of course from De’Von Achane and WR’s Hill, Waddle and Washington, and I think RB Ollie Gordon may get a decent workload, although MM and his trust issues with rookies concerns me. I’d love to see up a couple of TD’s and feeding Ollie Gordon in a RB Lamar Smith type game to close it out and maybe break off a big run here and there. We can only hope, right?
GO DOLPHINS!!!

P U T R I D
fitting page turn
There’s really nothing else to say.
Wow, punched in the mouth starting off!
I might have to lower my expectations
they snapped it with 1 second on the clock and you wonder why defenses can tee off
these are all the same problems this team has had for years
Yep. No excuse
I see the culture change! Lol…..omfg
Ha!
only thing I see is a coach change
I can smell the panic sweat on Tua from here
^
Exactly Piggy: same shit, different year. This offense may even look worse than last year.
They take forever to get lined up
then they wait until the last second to snap the ball
it’s really ridiculous
then you pair it with losing yards outside runs on 1st downs
and a good offense turns into a bad offense really quick
wounded duck
Duck down – something all Dolphins fans who thought this team was going to be great should do
And to think I was worried they would lull me into some feelings of hopefulness before they completely collapsed. 🤦🏼♀️
hi guys so far it’s my fault.
I wasn’t doing laundry.
I have corrected that mistake. We should have it come from behind victory now
I’m not. Didn’t even think about it. 😂
This game looks like one of those college tune up games where you have a top 10 power house playing a small school.
They got a stop!!!
spoke too soon
Unbelievable! That’s an unforgivable penalty there
we’ve been sloppy ever since MM arrive Mike.
they talk, we can’t even do the basics
Never mind
UK – you need to change more than just the Head Coach. Grier must be gone! He put this shitty roster together
Agreed. It all needs burning down. Get a new GM and let him find a coach and QB
These preseason power rankings were off. They had the Dolphins ranked higher than the Colts.
Absolutely nothing has changed with this team
STs might be better. Not convinced yet though
I think I could count how many plays we’ve run on both hands
masterful clock management by McDaniel
🙁
Miami Dolphons …… making shit teams look like supercool contenders for decades
Superbowl
Who ever is calling the plays for the Colts is doing a great job.
Something we are not used to.
Minkah tackled Jonathan Taylor by getting ruined over and getting tripped on
Defense been on the field 21+ minutes of the first half
We have 3 first downs
we have 43 total yards
we are losing the time of possession by nearly 3-1
we have 15 plays on offense
I don’t even know what to say other than we are lucky to only be down 20-0
well we have a half to turn it around
needs to be a great 2nd half
pretty much everything went wrong
yds. 255 to 41 unbelievable
Piggy,
the problem is nearly everything didn’t go wrong. We actually just played like complete and total shit
That performance against the Jags backups in preseason was not an anomaly.
We stink! 😂
Awful 1st half.
McDaniel is probably going to say it’s great we get to experience adversity so early in the season. Then he’ll kiss all the players on the forehead and tell them how great they are.
^
Lol…
Funny stat:
Jonny Smith scored
Noah Fant scored
HUNTER LONG scored
*Jonnu
This is intolerable, unacceptable, and beyond embarrassing. The hot seat just got turned up 2 more notches for Chris Grier and Mike McDaniel with one half of football.
If the Dolphins continue to play like this, and how they played last season, McDaniel will lose the locker room , and be gone mid season.
I can’t believe I am going to stay up a little longer to see what happens.
I’m so stupid. lol
How could an owner be ok with this shit show.
he hitched the wagon to Grier, and McDaniel. no other choice, but to go with them now
I’d sack MM and put Weaver in charge and say prove you’re our man. Cos MM isn’t
I like this plan👍
Nothing left to lose now Toba. We aren’t winning anything this year except maybe a very high draft pick
Let’s see what this new culture is made of 2nd half.
Yup hit reset 190076 times
Why do we do this to ourselves?
^^^
Penguin down
Fuck!
Bring in Wilson
^^^!!!!
Really showing the soft everytime we get hit
Wow
This team is horrible
Where the fuck was he going with that ball??
He had a crosser wide open underneath for the first down.
Yep. Easy 1st down wide open!
That’s what they’re made of. Lol
Waddle gets hurt every time he touches the ball and scared Too-ugh.
I’ve already seen enough… we are going to have a very losing season.
worst half ever!
I haven’t seen a second of the game. Are ya telling me my 17-0 prediction is in jeopardy?!?! 😱
Where’s this great pass rush we thought we had
midway through the 3rd quarter, Warren has more yards than the whole Dolphins offense.
Taylor has more yards rushing than the Dolphins have in total yards
Down 23-0, 17 points off of Tua turnovers
Can we add to our turnover stat here?
down 23
no urgency shown at all
every snap is the last few seconds
Hill’s helmet got slammed off the turf
I think he’s concussed
what a stupid call on 3rd down
I don’t hate it if you were going for it on fourth down. But you have to execute. To a missed Washington on that second down throw he led him too far to the outside.
Tua
yeah – really bad throw
had 1 on 1 and choked
Tua’s pocket presence is awful today
Tua’s awful. TIFI!
if I was the owner I would fire McDaniels and Grier as soon as the game was over.
same
We all know that’s not gonna happen, but if this continues then I think even Ross who’s shown absurd amounts of patience will finally do what he needs to do
This team is just awful. We’re not 25th or 28th, these guys just hate the Dolphins. You’re right, we might just be #31 or #32
Dolphins offense moving like a Mile McDaniel interview
The good thing is that I can’t see how anyone, including Ross, could defend this level of incompetence by Year 3. It’s embarrassing or should be at least. I’ve felt like McD has been hoping that no one would notice he was in way over his head after they took away his pre snap cheat code.
Its just one game everyone. Relax. This team is gonna be great!
Maybe Tua gets hurt putting him in down 30-0 and Wilson plays next week
Looking at the Chiefs game, it’s pretty obvious who should have been picked at 5. Grier should also be fired today.
That slide was perfect!!!!!
Tua’s best play today.
Exactly
Lmfao
Kion Smith is not an OG. I have seen him get blown up a lot today
WTG MM! 12 men on the field
Achane had no business scoring on that. Great effort.
Trade Tyreek. Fire MM and Grief and start the rebuild again. Dump Tua and let new regime get their guy with this next draft.
I agree! 😂
Nothing to say 🤦🏼♀️
Must be nice to have a good healthy OL

All of the above.
MM has proven:
He isn’t a HC
He isn’t an offensive genius with an innovative run game up his sleeve
He cannot put a disciplined team on the field
He cannot challenge effectively
He has 0 adaptability to switch to a plan B or C if A isn’t working
Has no idea what clock management is
I’m sure I’ve forgotten half a dozen things – anyone can add to this if they wish
the Chiefs are desperate for a wide receiver. See how this plays out over the next six weeks maybe eight and if it is really going south trade Hill back to the Chiefs
Even discounting the injury list we have accrued tonight, do you see this getting better under MM? Sorry, I no longer do now. He’s toast.
ER – maybe if we trade Hill we can get back the 6th RD we had to use in the Waller trade with the Giants.
And a new GM won’t package that with 3 other picks to move up and grab a guy that won’t play!
Chiefs will be getting WR Rasheen Wallace back by then. Maybe even Worthy will be back by then.
Kinda bugs me that we’re pulling Tua not because he sucks, but because they’re protecting him.
I’m ok with keeping Tua intact now. He may have trade value further down the line. We don’t need a soft reset we need a makeover via hard reset top to bottom. As Randy and many others have observed, the team is built wrong
Isn’t pre-season meant for preparation?
(Asking for a friend)
Jets/Steelers in a shoot out. Jets just took the lead back with 7 minutes left.
Zach Wilson looks like his feet are in cement
As Madden would say “I don’t think this QB could hit the water if he fell out of a boat”
well, we scored so maybe we’re being a little impatient guys.
Still ill-prepared, still lack of situational awareness, still piss-poor clock management, Tua shat the bed, more very significant injuries today, and a whole lot of questions moving forward.
Yeah, it’s only one game… but we’ve seen this movie all too many times before. On paper, we should have destroyed the Colts today.
This all falls on Coach McD… and I don’t believe he survives the entire season, especially when we could make Anthony Weaver interim HC to see if he’s got what it takes to be the next HC.
And BELIEVE ME, Chris Grier shouldn’t be left off the hook, either.
And BELIEVE ME EVER FURTHER, Steve Ross needs to sell before he hires a brand new circus.
Steelers take the lead 34-32 with a 60 yard FG. Jets have 1 min
Did reality set in?
This showing was 2006 bad.
^
Jalen Ramsey seals the win for the Steelers with 2 good plays
I just want to know, did anyone here see any positives from the 2 great drafts the last 2 seasons? If you did, please chime in and point them out
Well, Jets and Pats lost also. So, there’s that.
AFC East likely winless after week one
UK,
No, I do not see this getting much better, but I also don’t think they are going to pull the plug and trade Hill in week two or three
I agree – way too early for a trade, but making stupid documentaries about the team and idiotic slogans doesn’t win games.
We’re soft and totally unbalanced, whilst being coached badly.
This is going to be a(nother) long painful season
agreed
The “strength” of this team didn’t show up today. They are now going to lose the next 3 and be 0-4. They are in no way going to stop the run and 3 run heavy teams up next. No pass rush either…..
If that is what it takes for wholesale changes, so be it.
I’m 100% with ya, but so long as Steve Ross is in charge, he’ll just hire another circus.
the strength of this team is the defensive line and really the front seven however you need a good secondary to complement that. They are going to be days where the past rush just isn’t there for whatever reason. You can’t count on them to win and be dominant every single game.
I used “strength ” lightly. Lol. No pressure, big lanes all day.
If that is the dominant unit this season is over regardless.
I saw nothing today to suggest that this offense is any different from last years. If Daniels is out with a torn pack, it’s pretty much curtains for the season. We do not have anyone on this roster that can step up confidently at guard for 16 games. That’s also assuming the rest of the four stay healthy. I think we’re fucked this season honestly
^
Steve Ross’ record
Hired Joe Philbin… FAILED
Hired Adam Gase… FAILED
Hired Mike McDaniel… FAILED
Stuck with GM Jeff Ireland too long… FAILED
Hired GM Mike Tannenbaum… FAILED
Promoted Chris Grier to GM… FAILED
Courted countless players and HCs… FAILED
You forgot to mention that some of these courtships cost us draft picks
YUP!!!
GREAT point, Brian.
To be sure, it’s not about a lack of effort on Ross’ part. He just can’t land the right people for whatever reason.
He has the golden touch reversed.
correct. He has tried. It just hasn’t worked out. He should not went to pull the plug on Grier though. Also he’s never selling the team. He makes billions of dollars a year, he’s not going to sell the team because the fans want him to. We can only hope that his daughters make better decision Then he has When he passes the team down to them
He’s got more $$$ than brains.
If losing one G derails the season, what does that say? We don’t have to address the secondary. Lol
Not sure how there is any defense for this front office.
We’re already a train wreck, 1 game into the season.
I still believe Steve Ross takes advice from his close friend and biz partner ‘King Carl’.
I’m absolutely shocked….
Who could’ve possibly seen this coming?….
Nostradamus for 1 😉
Defense had 0 stops today.
They had no chance today with all the emotion around Jim Irsay dying. 🙄
Historically bad.
No team since 1977 has scored on all of their possessions.
NEW BLOG UP!!!
