2025 Season – Game 3 – Dolphins @ Bills

This is the time for this team to make it’s stand, to turn the season around. These teams couldn’t be further apart, both in how they’ve played so far, the way the Bills have been scoring points in bunches and how the Dolphins offense barely scores at all. The Dolphins have put 11 guys on the field at any given time during each game but those 11 guys haven’t really played defense. It hasn’t appeared that those 11 guys have been much of a deterrent for opposing offenses. I’m not going to work harder than this team has so I’m not going to give you the exact number, but they had a great streak of 10 consecutive drives in which opposing offenses scored on which took them through to the 3rd quarter of game 2 against the Patriots.

This defense has allowed an embarrassing 33.0 points per game. Some folks think Anthony Weaver deserves to be the guy that replaces current HC Mike McDaniel if he were to get fired, but shouldn’t his unit have to keep it under 25 points per game before being considered as the interim Head Coach? Sure, a lot of this falls on GM Chris Grier. Some of you here behave as if Grier had his best draft ever in 2025. OMG, DT Kenneth Grant, OG Jonah Savaiinaea, DT Jordan Phillips, CB Jason Marshall, S Dante Trader, RB Ollie Gordon, QB Quinn Ewers, and DT Zeek Biggers. It may just turn out to be that way, but so far, after only 2 games it doesn’t look so good. DT Kenneth Grant hasn’t showed up, he’s played, but hasn’t really done anything. OG Jonah Savaiinaea has started both games but hasn’t fared well, despite the trade up which ruined 31 other franchises who wanted him. DT Jordan Phillips is playing too, he’s in the rotation but also hasn’t done anything yet either. S Dante Trader and DT Zeek Biggers have gotten playing time as well and some folks are optimistic about S Dante Trader, but this defense has been awful and they couldn’t pick a more difficult opponent in the Buffalo Bills who are averaging 35.5 points per game.

There’s been a lot of talk about the pressers before the game, especially the one featuring our QB Tua Tagovailoa. He was effusive with praise, and very humble, and while I don’t give a rats ass what he says, I wholeheartedly agree with everything he said. As to whether he should have said it or not, again, IDGAF. Tua needs to be loud on the field, and lead this team to an improbable win. The Bills on defense have been soft, allowing 25 points per game. Our putrid offense led by the humble one has managed only17.5 points per game, good for last in the NFL. Damn, so close a competition, but the offense just edges out the defense as the worst in the NFL, as the Defense is 31st, allowing 33.0 points per game.

If I were an optimistic fella (I’m not), and if I thought there was a gameplan that might topple the Bills (There might be), I would feed both running backs and I would take some deep shots against this Bills secondary. The Bills haven’t been good defensively, Achane has been amazing, I think he’s clearly the centerpiece of this offense. Ollie Gordan has had 3 rushing attempts. Sound familiar? Well, yes, it does! We did the same thing when we featured our newly drafted RB last season Jaylen Wright, who required 2 picks, one a 2025 3rd RD pick. Hey, how’s that trade up looking right now? Anyway, it would be nice to see the RB Ollie Gordon get some carries and do some damage and keep the Bills offense off the field.

If you’re a betting man, the Bills are -900 and the Dolphins are +600. I don’t bet and I don’t even know what it means, but the betting has been heavy on Buffalo. I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but if the NFL was gonna fix a game, this would be it. The betting has been extremely heavy on the Bills favored by 11 points against the Dolphins. Over the last 5 seasons, the Bills are 9-1 against the Dolphins. Starting from 2021, these are the scores, all in favor of the Buffalo Bills except one. 56-26, 35-0, 26-11, 19-21, 32-29, 34-31, 48-20, 21-14, 31-10 and 30-27. Some have been close, but the Bills have been dominant in the win column. Bills have been our daddy, and at the current time, this might just be the biggest mismatch. If I didn’t have my doubts about the NFL being fixed, I would say the Bills would win this game 41-3. I do, however, have legit doubts about whether games could be fixed and this one is ripe for that.

If we do somehow upset the Big Bad Bills, just wait until next week when we unveil our Rivalry Uniforms against the Jets at Hard Rock, so we can’t possibly lose that game, right? We’d be right back at 2-2 and ready to blister all the way to 14-3 as our own dear Piggy predicted. It could happen, right? Probably not. The Bills are in their new stadium, Highmark Stadium, and that would be a horrible loss for the Bills, not only a division loss but also a conference loss as the Bills try to keep pace with the LA Chargers, the Cincinnati Bengals, and the Indianapolis Colts as well as staying ahead of the Chiefs and Ravens and I think one of the dark horses this year, the Denver Broncos.

OMG, I’m first!!!! Do I win something? Is this even a thing? Why do so many people care about being “first”. With that said here is my segue to us being losers. I’m hoping we lose by a record breaking deficit which might just actually put the wheels in motion of Ross moving on from Grier & McDaniel. I mean I’m talking 80-3 or something like that. The absolutely worst thing this team can do is win this game. It would derail everything us true fans have been longing for….new leadership: Grier, McDaniel, and Tua Turntheballova. Please let the football gods be kind to me for once and cause us to lose by epic proportions!!!!

Anyone else here smell something foul, I mean besides the stench of our team? Seriously, anyone think the fix might be in on this one?

    • New Age's avatar New Age says:

I don’t think so. We’re not good enough for anyone to put that much effort in and it would really make a lot of people wonder. This team on paper and in games is worse than the team who went 8-9 and got blown out by Buffalo in one of our two losses. I just don’t see how they could sell it. How would a team that can’t get plays off on time in critical situations beat the best team in football?

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

No. We might put up a bit of a fight, the refs may give us a little help, the sun might get in the Bills’ eyes, someone may cough really loudly right as Allen throws the ball…and we’re still losing by 2-3 scores minimum.

  6. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    MikeE,

It’s a divisional game so you never know. Maybe they’re taking us too lightly after our coach said we suck and our QB licked Josh Allen’s balls.

  9. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    Mike E,

Nice write as usual. As for a fix in tonight’s game? I suppose anything is possible. What I do think could happen is we win tonight because we had this date circled on the calendar when the schedules came out.

It’s possible we totally overlooked the Colts and Patsies* in preparation for this game. That, and I think Grier assembled our roster to beat the Bills to win the division. Do I realistically think we win tonight? NO. But, it wouldn’t surprise me.

All I can say with any kind of certainty is that if Darren Waller was starting tonight for us, we’d be very heavy favorites to win tonight… LOL

college side judges spot the ball so goofy sometimes. Check the olay at the 50 second mark, he catches it right at the 1st down marker (debatable 1st down) and its spotted a full yard back. At no point after touching the ball was he back a yard

its really common when someone catches a long pass, ball is typically spotted 1 or 2 yards back

  16. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    BBM,

I really like Nussmeier’s passing proficiency: he’s REALLY good! On the other hand, he’s smallish at 6’1″, and he’s no threat to run the ball… which the NFL seems to be trending toward: dual-threat QBs.

It’s far too early for me to ascertain what our next HC (and possibly next GM) may be looking for, but the current TREND would point me in the direction of LaNorris Sellers.

Again, too early for me to call it. If Sellers shits the bed this season for South Carolina, all bets are off.

I’ll be watching Nussmeier, Sellers, and most obviously Drew Allar (GO PSU!!!) a lot this college football season.

he’s smallish at 6’1″, and he’s no threat to run the ball.. sounds like ya drafting Tuas clone…

    ———

And that’s exactly why I’m not as high on Nussmeier as others are, Brother Manitoba. I think our next regime is going to want a dual-threat QB, being that it’s the trend and those QBs seem to experience the greatest success in today’s NFL.

LaNorris Sellers is my guy as of *right now*.

    • rich0322's avatar rich0322 says:

Sellers has the measurements and is very talented, but I haven’t seen that translate to the field yet. Well, only glimpses. Also, he left the game last week against Vanderbilt with a concussion.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Agreed, Rich. I want to see more of Sellers, and my expectations for him are high. If he sucks this year, then he’s off my radar for the ’26 Draft.

    ———–

I think Mateer has a good build at 6’1, 224. But again, he’s ‘smallish’ at 6’1″. He IS a threat to run the ball as a dual-threat QB.

Yes… Mateer will be the other QBs (along with Nussmeier, Sellers, and Allar) who I’ll keep a close eye upon.

  22. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

and he’s no threat to run the ball (Nussmeier)

    ———–

That is why I traded down.

I am not a fan of Sellers. He has not looked all that great in the 1st two games this year against lesser opponents. He was 11-19 for 128, 1 TD and 8 rush for 23 yards vs South Carolina State. He threw an INT last week before getting knocked out of the game with a concussion in the 1st half in a blow out loss vs Vanderbilt.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

So are you a buyer or seller regarding Sellers?! LOL 😉

Yes… Sellers still has much to prove this season, and so far, not so good. I’m REALLY hoping he shows and proves from here on out. If not, he’s not for us in the ’26 Draft.

  23. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Until I hear he’s staying in school, I’m sticking with Mateer as my favorite prospect.

    ——–

    That’s my guy! For now.

I’m not sold on Mendoza. Let’s see what he does this weekend vs #8 Illinois who has a good secondary.

  24. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    BBM and Rich,

Very seriously, if Sellers sucks this season, he’s out for me.

  25. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I have mentioned Georgia Tech QB Haynes King 6’3, 215, for 2 years now. I think he is an underrated dual threat QB. He’s got a decent arm and a good runner. In just 2 games this year he has 259 yards and 4 TD’s rushing, to include 103 yards and 1 TD rushing in an upset win over top 10 ranked Clemson. No passing TD’s in either game but GT is a run first team.

  26. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Rock, that highlight didn’t reflect how good a passer King is. One of the most exciting games I have watched over the years was Haynes King and GT at #7 Georgia last year. Georgia ended up winning 44-42 in 8 overtimes. King was 26-36 for 303 yards, 2 TD’s with 0 INT’s and rushed for 110 yards and 3 TD’s.

  27. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Yeah, perhaps the game has passed me by. I HATE running QB’s. They should be passers first. IMO.

  28. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Again, I’m talking about possibly drafting King on day 3.

100 per cent understand … I don’t order anything on line either . I like to touch what I am shopping for … wife and kid have packages arriving almost daily , prime tv in Canada has a lot of good shows on it , but it is not needed for football games ..

TSN in Canada has broadcast rights to ALL NFL games .. so they show the Prime/Peacock and ESPN games weekly , so all I need is TSN , which also shows all Winnipeg Jets games , and Sunday ticket , basically to get Sunday Fins games weekly..

I DO hear ya, man. Then enter somebody named Steve Young…

Um yeah..,the Achane swing pass is getting predictable

    Gonna get Achane killed

      shitty pass, everything is high

If Tua gets that out a half second quicker (and not a lollipop throw), that’s actually a big play. There was nothing in front of him for 20 yards after that first guy. Execution always not quite crisp enough across the board (except Achane).

    great play by Tua there

Herbstreit keeps saying our identity is the running game what a moron. He’s from OSU, so it’s expected.

SO…what I’m reading here is the D sucks and Weaver is not HC in waiting, O sucks lead by Tuaturndaballova, a HC as dead man waliking, and CG who has put this cluster fuck together…lmao!

    Oh my.

  93. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Tua throws WAY too many hospital balls. Jaylen Waddle and Achane have already suffered over the last two seasons.

  94. Randy's avatar Randy says:

Tua running out of a perfectly fine pocket and throwing the ball away.

  95. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

watching this O hurts my stomach, like riding in a car with someone learning to drive

  96. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

That was actually an athletic play by Tua

  97. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

    so incompetent MM is
