Dolphins finally do what needed to happen

Yep! Today, the Shitshow finally happened. No more pretending that Head Coach Mike McDaniel is an NFL Head Coach. No more deceit that Chris Grier can shop for the groceries to build an NFL roster. No more lies and stat throwing tantrums that QB Tua Tagovailoa is a Top 10, or even Top 20 QB at this juncture of his career. The Tua Tagovailoa Era, or Error as I like to say is over. It doesn’t matter if he starts the rest of the season, or he sits on the bench. If it were me, I’d have QB Quinn Ewers get all the starters reps in practice, let Tua take the leftover reps, start Tua, and maybe continue to allow Quinn to get 2nd half playing time. Wins and losses no longer matter right now. Let Quinn Ewers get playing time until he’s ready to start and he’s fully prepared to do that, as many weeks as it that takes.

There is not a single, solitary reason for Miami Dolphins owner not to fire the two people most responsible for the Shitshow that is the 2025 Miami Dolphins. GM Chris Grier and Head Coach Mike McDaniel. If one is fired, the other must go as well, these two are joined at the hip, neither is blameless. You can argue over who deserves it more, and I don’t care who you think that is, as long as both heads are on pikes come Monday afternoon. The Dolphins lost today 31-6 and looked as if they didn’t belong on the same field as a team with identical 1-5 records coming into this week.

De’Von Achane is lightyears better than any player on this team, that much is clear. He is truly the untouchable player on this roster as the trade deadline approaches, exactly 2 weeks and 2 days away. Part of the problem is none of our players are increasing in value as the play of this team has just bottomed out. The defense has been absurdly bad all season long, and DC Anthony Weaver might find himself out of a job as well, which I think is slightly unfair because Grier didn’t assemble the roster properly in the least. We have 1 DL you can say belongs as a starter, and then 2 rookies in LDE Kenny Grant and NT Jordan Phillips. They’re playing out of necessity, not because they’ve earned anything. Teams are running wild on us, and despite having a solid corps of interior linebackers of Jordyn Brooks, Tyrel Dodson, Willie Gay and K.J. Britt, our outside linebackers Jaelan Phillips, Bradley Chubb, and Chop Robinson haven’t pulled their weight. Both Phillips and Chub. are coming back from injuries. Chubb missed the entire season last year after an ACL injury late in 2023 sidelined him. Phillips was hurt in game 4, also an ACL injury, this after missing the last 9 games of 2023 with an achilles injury.

The O-line has been a maligned unit for so many years, and a favorite scapegoat of Tuaneers everywhere. It’s clear that Grier has been unable to find the correct players on the offensive line, despite many picks, two big trade ups and a big free agent signing just about every season. Liam Eichenberg was the first OL that got Grier to overspend draft capital with a tradeup in 2021, sending the 50th pick in RD 2 as well as 2022 3rd RD pick to take Eichenberg at #42. The next O-line tradeup was this year, with Grier trading their #48 pick in RD 2 and the #98 pick in RD 3 as well as a 4th RD pick #135 to get pick #37 and a 5th RD pick #143 to draft Arizona OG Jonah Savaiinaea. The fact that Savaiinaea is rated as one of if not the worst OG in the league at the moment should be enough grounds to fire Grier if you include that DT Kenny Grant is also rated among the worst DT. Then you look at our record at 1-6, and even worse, turning on the TV or spending hard cash to go to the game at Hard Rock to watch this shitshow!

Will Miami Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross be able to do what must be done? That’s the big question, because some of us here have felt for quite some time both deserved to be fired, but today’s dumpster fire of a performance from the entire team today has to have cinched it, right? Stay tuned!

I watched Tua’s presser yesterday. Well the first half of it. He blamed his lack of height for not being able to see over the OL and DL to hit Waddle for more than 1 reception the last game.

  2. Randy's avatar Randy says:

I had a coach once who was former military who actually had lost a nut. He was a big muscle bound dude so no opportunity for joking about it. Lol

  3. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    BBM,

Tua is constantly looking for excuses now. You just can’t have that. It gives everybody an out to do the same thing.

  4. rich0322's avatar rich0322 says:

I agree with BBM on the height minimum with our next QB.

  5. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I don’t really want to see any minimums with whoever our next QB is. I feel inclined to remind everyone about Chad Henne checking off all of Bill Parcels checklist before we passed on Matt Ryan in the first to draft Chad Henne in the 2nd

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Matt Ryan was 6’4, Chad Henne 6’3.

What minimums are you referring to?

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

        it wasn’t so much height

although I think Parcelss had that

but he also had things like 3 year starter, be a senior, etc

I don’t want to rule out drafting the next Russell Wilson or Drew Brees bc they don’t meet a standard

  6. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Tua’s always been limited. Now it’s just kind of sad. He should go to a great team with a legit O-line and they can mask some of his *short*comings

  7. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Field Yates@FieldYatesThe Dolphins restructured the contract of starting LB Jordyn Brooks by converting base salary into a signing bonus, creating $3M in 2025 salary cap space.

  8. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Trading Brooks? Reducing his cap hit for another team while pushing 5.3m in dead money to 2027 and 2028.

I hope they are not clearing cap to trade for someone, like a WR.

If they trade away a 2026 pick for any player at this point, I will be so pissed.

If they think they can salvage this season by trading for someone, there needs to be a complete boycott of this team.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

If they trade FOR anyone, I’m flying out to Florida immediately to fire Grier myself.

(strictly a joke- for any censors that may be scouring the internet)

  9. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I’ll scream if we try to trade for a player to improve this team, or in Grier’s case, fuck it up even worse!

  10. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Former NBA players arrested for fixing games and illegal gambling

the horror of somebody, other than the leagues themselves, fixing games

  11. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

we knew Tua was too short, damaged goods and had a weenie arm (after I pointed it out, contrary to public opinion)

so why again did Grier draft him to be a franchise QB?

when you had prototypical Herbert, with the same grade, sitting there

  12. bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

……..time to scour the injured/retired list of other teams to see whom it might be that they are trying to get….

  13. Randy's avatar Randy says:

Tua doesn’t have a weenie arm. He just doesn’t have a strong one. As many of us have said, it looks like he’s lost something off his arm too. Probably injury history related, but his arm is fine…or was…for the sort of offense he was asked to run. His arm ain’t the problem. Far from it.

  14. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Listening to Kyle Crabbs on next years salary cap and his #’s are usually close to spot on. It’s not looking good for the next regime, if there is one.

The Dolphins already have over 34m in 2026 dead cap. To even have cap space to fill out a roster, they, of course, have to cut Tyreek prior to the new league year. They will also have to move on from Bradley Chubb.

Those 2 moves alone will put the Dolphins around 90m in dead cap to start out the 2026 offseason.

By the time next season kicks off, the Dolphins will most likely set the NFL record for a team with the most dead cap which right now is 101m in dead cap.

    Crabbs expects this to happen.

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

It’s not looking good for the next regime

      ———

Just for 2026 that is. Depending what is done, we could have nearly 100m in 2027 cap space and that would even be after giving Achane an extension next year.

  15. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Breaking: Dolphins sign John Mackey out of retirement to be the new tight end. Will spend the next few weeks on IR getting back into shape following his death in 2011. Then he will be on a limited snap count…

  16. son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

I like the idea of Chris Shula also.
I also want us to draft Adon Shuler.

  17. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Adon Shuler is a stud! I didn’t realize he was going to be draft eligible. I looked it up and he is a redshirt sophomore, so, yes he will be draft eligible.

Thanks for the heads up, Sonny!

  18. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Hey Sonny! What up??

  19. Randy's avatar Randy says:

One positive that might be in a new coach’s favor is that he will probably be given a fair amount of leeway in regards to being tougher on guys without having to worry they’ll get in trouble for it. Maybe this all turn into a positive.

  20. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Tua’s weenie arm may be fine to run the O, but that’s not what Im talking about

when the play breaks down Tua can’t just flick the ball to a receiver, like so many QBs can, due to his weenie arm

his size and injury history doesn’t allow him to stand in the pocket and take a big hit as he releases the ball

we bitch about MM, and rightfully so, but his playcalling is very limited with the 2025 version of Tua

Wentz just completed a pass, while being hit in the pocket, Tua could never complete that

  21. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Bobbled INT, IMO. Play shouldn’t stand.

  22. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Vidal is such a STUD when it comes to blocking. It’s a shame we didn’t draft him last season.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

That was one of his BIG attributes coming out of college: STUD blocking back.

And now he just ran it in for a TD.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

He was drafted in the 6th round in ’24. Good thing we traded a ’25 3rd rounder to trade up for Jaylen Wright in the 4th in ’24. SMH

  23. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    @schadjoe

Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill, out for the season with a major knee injury, is weighing whether to retire.

  24. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Know who wanted to draft Jonathan Greenard badly in 2020? He went #90 to the Texans…

    UPDATE: MY 2020 #NFLmockDraft for my #MiamiDolphins

    @MiamiDolphins

    [Stay home version (no trades)] 5: T Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama 18: A Jackson, OT, USC 26: C Ruiz, IOL, Michigan 39: C Edwards-Helaire, RB, LSU 56: J Greenard, DE, Florida 70: K Dugger, DW, Lenoir-Rhyne #FinsUp

  25. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Herbert sure plays with a different demeanor now than his 1st and 2nd years. Yeah, he ran with the ball back then. I can see the experience and confidence in him.

  26. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

It really takes some time to make true assessments of players drafted.

Some flame out fast after incredible rookie seasons. Some show the glow early for a few years… only to flame out later. Some don’t bite as pups… but with the proper coaching/environment they come on strong in time. And some flounder for years until the right fit comes around.

What am I getting at here? Herbert has become greater than Tua, even if Tua started out much better than Herbert over their first several NFL years in comparison.

  27. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I am stuck between Mendoza and Simpson.

Mendoza is a pure pocket passer with limited escape skills, but he can run a little. Reminds me of a Brady or Goff type QB. Not saying he is or will be as good. Just giving examples of QB type.

Simpson can escape better and is a better runner but not fast, neither are fast nor great runners. Not sure if I have a comparison for Simpson. One thing I can tell about Simpson being a new starter is sometimes under pressure he gets “happy feet”. That will go away with more experience.

Both have really good arm talent.

I think I am leaning Simpson. He is playing this well in only 7 starts. His last 4 games were against mid to top ranked teams (including Georgia). In those 4 games he’s passed for 1069 yards, 9 TD’s, 1 INT and ran for another TD.

  28. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Dolphins are going to be on TV in my viewing area this Sunday, actually the entire SE viewing area. I don’t think it will be worth sacrificing my sleep to watch though.

  29. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

No good college games to watch tonight. I guess, if you are bored, you could check out North Texas at Charlotte, 6pm (central) on ESPN2.

Only reason is to check out the next decent QB who BBM predicts to hit the transfer portal to a bigger school next year in North Texas QB Drew Mestemaker, 6’4, 211 pounds.

I have not watched him much yet but he’s a redshirt freshman walk on who never started a high school game on the varsity level. Walked on to North Texas and won the starting job after he redshirted last year. He’s led North Texas to a 6-1 record so far throwing for 1860 yards, 17 TD’s, 3 INT’s and also ran for 4 TD’s in those 7 games. His 3 INT’s came in all 1 game vs #18 ranked USF. Despite that loss to USF, he still went 30 of 46 for 336 yards, 2 TD’s with the 3 INT’s and ran for another TD.
