2025 Season – Game 9 – Ravens @ Dolphins

Thursday Night Football!! The 2-5 Baltimore Ravens vs The 2-6 Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins are hot, they are rolling after an extensive 1 game win streak. OK, they actually played a good game, and QB Tua Tagovailoa had a great game. The Ravens defense is terrible, worse than our own terrible defense. The Ravens are allowing 30 points per game good for 30th in the NFL. The Ravens can score though, even without QB Lamar Jackson, but tonight, the Ravens will have the services of Jackson as he returns from injury. Derrick Henry, even at age 31 going on 32 is still dangerous.

We’ll see if the Dolphins can continue the good play that was on display against the Atlanta Falcons. The O-line looked so much better, we ran the ball effectively not just on the outside but in the middle too with RB Ollie Gordon. The Dolphins rushed 37 times for 141 yards. I can’t really recall the last time the Dolphins ran that much. Atlanta looked all out of sorts and couldn’t stop us on defense, and their impressive RB tandem of Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier were shut down, and Atlanta had no answer with veteran QB Kirk Cousins making his first start in over a year due to the bone bruise injury to starting QB Michael Penix.

You know where I stand, if you tell me Stephen Ross will fire Chris Grier and Mike McDaniel even if we win 7 games, I’ll root for us to win every game until we reach 7, and then that’s the end of that. I can’t bear to see either of these guys return and I won’t waste my time next year with this nonsense if they do, so if losses make it happen more certainly, then I’ll root for losses. This team has no Super Bowl aspirations, we’re not a championship caliber team. This team at 2-6 isn’t going anywhere, we’re not running off 8 of 9 to win the division.

    IT’S GAME DAY BITCHES!

Go Chris Grier! No! I mean it! GTFO!

  2. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

    Lol…drip, drip, drip….

    Thank you, Mike E.!

  3. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

So Tua says he is going to continue wearing the visor that he wore “because of the eye infection” he woke up with last week. Anyone think he thinks he had some advantage with the visor, like maybe the D couldn’t read his eyes when he is staring down the one WR he is definitely going to throw it to?

  4. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I think Tua feels safer now with his visor

  5. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Steve, I don’t know why I keep doing that. You corrected me before on it. lol

I keep forgetting top 51 is an offseason thing only. BBM getting old. Everyone counts against the cap when the season starts including players on IR and, I think, even Practice Squad players.

That said, I think you just answered the question for M13 and I. They just needed some operating cap for the rest of the season being we were down to 1m plus or minus.

  6. herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

What are the odds the Dolphins and The Herd are playing a game on Thursday night? WTF?!?!

    ❤️🐬🦬🏈🤷🏼‍♀️

  7. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I was thinking out you Herdfan the other day. I thought how unfortunate it was for you to get sucked into being a fan of this trash team, just because one of your former college players got picked up by them for 3 seasons 17 years ago. Not that I want you to leave or anything, but you know, it’s ok if you want to move on now. Pennington isn’t coming back. LOL

  8. Randy's avatar Randy says:

It’s like the sports talking heads are going out of their way not to talk about us. We’re one of 2 games on, and we don’t exist. 🤬

  9. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Anyone catch the interaction I had with Omar last night about Bill Parcells? I think Omar has lost his mind.

    • bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

For some reason, I couldn’t see Omar’s side of the conversation, only your comments.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

So basically Omar made a comment about Parcells, and that was not important what was said in that comment. I replied to him that I hated Parcells more than I hate Grier, because he was very lazy in doing his job as Miami Dolphins Footbal Czar. He just called his old cronies like Tony Sparano, Paul Pasqualone, Dan Henning and Jeff Ireland as GM, and then as soon as he was able to leave because of the clause in Huizenga’s contract that if he sold the team, Parcells was allowed to leave.

Omar said that was untrue, Parcells built the whole thing very precisely and stayed on 2 years after he could have walked. He was only here for 2 years

  10. Realist's avatar Realist says:

The past few days, all the sports talking heads can talk about is how the Raveonettes are going to crush the Fins with Lamar back, and Henry is going to run wild, and Flowers is going to own the middle of the field, and Tua will struggle. But, tonight we’ll show ’em! Yeah! We’ll show em! We’ll show ’em…that they’re right! 🤣

a dolphin win tonight would get me back on board for this season

  12. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    Mike E,

I just viewed the entire convo between you and Omar, and what led up to your convo. I happen to agree with ya 100%, man, but there’s a lot more to it than either of you realize.

I don’t really want to bring up ill feelings or politics, but that’s exactly why what happened, happened. It was 100% POLITICAL… as in the presidential election in November of ’08, but I digress.

Like you, I can’t stand how The Tuna left under the cover of night, exiting through the back door, and sticking us with a 1st time HC in Tony Sparano (RIP) who had only ever been an O-Line coach before, that jackass Jeff Ireland, Mr. Magoo, and a bunch of other ‘has-beens’.

IMO, Omar is not remembering how it really went down. You, on the other hand, clearly DO remember how it went down. You get bonus points from me, Mike E! Good job with your recollection… even though you’re older than Methuselah (JK/JBB) 😉 !!!

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

      I’m Methy’s older brother!

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Nonsense! Even though we’ve never met in person (we’ll have to change that one day 🙂 ), you have much youthful enthusiasm, drive, and come across to me as full of life.

You aren’t that old in the larger scheme of things. There are 2 women who go to my church who are in their 90s. You’re still just a spring chicken, my guy!

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

LOL – Thanks M – Also, thanks for confirming how it actually went down, not Omar’s version of it.

  13. rich0322's avatar rich0322 says:

I agree 1000% with that last paragraph, Mike E. I won’t put up with Grier being the GM anymore. I’ll come on here to talk about college players and the draft, but I’ll be done with the Dolphins until major changes are made starting with Grier.

  14. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

In his four career starts against Miami, Lamar Jackson completed 81% of his passes for 757 yards and 10 touchdowns with zero interceptions in his eight first-half quarters….

Boy does he shred the D in the first half historically!

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

We MUST have a spy on Lamar at all times, IMO. Camouflage the spy, but we can’t allow him to run free on any given play.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

We’ve had our best success against Lamar when running the Cover-0 Defense. However, Lamar has grown since then… I don’t think we’ll be able to overwhelm him so easily now.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Yes, it was the Boyer Cover-0 Defense.

  15. rich0322's avatar rich0322 says:

ok, here’s my Halloween mock draft. It’s just the first 3 rounds plus a BBM player at #105.

    1(10) Spencer Fano-OT, Utah*

    2(35) A’Mauri Washington-DT/NT, Oregon

    2(42) AJ Haulcy-SAF, LSU*

    3(67) Chase Bisontis-OG, Texas A&M

    3(72) Cashius Howell-Edge, Texas A&M

    4(105) D’Angelo Ponds-CB, Indiana

*trade down in 1st for additional 2nd round pick

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I like it, and I’m familiar with all these names… I just don’t know what we should do at QB.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I love Fano as a prospect, but he’s going to be our future RT, no? Can’t see him supplanting Darth Paul as our new LT.

And once we move on from Tua, I don’t think we necessarily need to use a 1st rounder on a RT… the chances of drafting another southpaw QB is minimal.

      • rich0322's avatar rich0322 says:

Fano plays RT, I would put him at RT. Very good run blocker. Bisontis plays LG, I would put him at LG. Very good run blocker. Jonah “2picks” would be moved to RG, if he can’t handle it, he would be a back up OG or moved to another team.

Haulcy would team with Fitzpatrick, making that a very good safety tandem. Haulcy has some ballhawk in him.

Washington is an athletic stud. Just wait until the combine. Washington plays NT or DT and can get consistent pressure up the middle.

Howell is another athletic stud with great speed around the corner. He would make a good tandem with Chop.

Ponds is small put still makes play after play in that defense. He would be a future slot, while also playing some on the outside.

At QB, I don’t know at the moment. Just depends how it all plays out with players declaring and where we sit in the draft order. I’m with BBM on possibly looking at Haynes King on day 3 or undrafted FA, if Simpson and Dante Moore go back to school. I just don’t want the Jest to get any of them. LOL. Misery loves company.

That’s how I would do it today. I’m sure my thinking will change in the coming months. It’s never a final mock until draft day.

  16. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

So I bet this guy I know from Starbucks $100 that the Dolphins will not win more than 6 games this season. I haven’t seen him since week 2 until yesterday. I saw him and asked him how he felt about the bet and he says, well, they only need to win 3 more games so I feel good. I was like “your math is wrong dude, they need to win 5 more games for you to win the bet and he started arguing that no, I bet him that they would not win 6 games. (not MORE than 6 games was the bet) but even so, your math is still wrong, they have won 2. They need FOUR more to get to 6 and FIVE more for you to win the bet. He started sulking and saying I was a cheat and was moving the goal post on him. That got to me, because I have very strong feelings about lying and liars and people who welsh on bets. Do NOT question my honor! It almost came to blows because he came right out an called me a liar.

The $100 doesn’t mean that much to me. But I will kick his ass now if he doesn’t pay up.

  18. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Herd, I wanted to watch watch the Marshall game tonight also. BBM got his eye on Marshall QB Carlos Del Rio-Wilson for the 2027 draft. He’s playing really well since coming back from injury. He’s got good size, strong arm and can run.

I just hate that it is too hard to switch back and forth between Prime and ESPN2.

    ———

100%, that is why I mock him to us to replace Austin Jackson in 2027 or next time Jackson gets injured next year.

I watched him against Texas Tech who has two top 10 edge rushers. He gave up 2 pressures and 0 sacks. He’s a better run blocker though.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I’m with it, I like it, and I dig it… to have BOOKEND TACKLES! But again… what are we trying to do at the QB position in ’26?

If we run it back with Tua again (due to the financials), we may as well bring Capri McD back, IMO. Why? Because Capri McD knows how to design an Offense that caters to Tua’s strengths… when he’s not overthinking everything, that is.

I haven’t the answers, nor do I portend or pretend to.

It’s going to be very interesting to see how this all pans out! My money (and I’m saying that symbolically, I don’t gamble) is that Ross Boss fires both Capri McD and General Grief once the season is over.

And should that happen, the new HC/GM will want to hitch their trailers to a NEW QB… likely via the ’26 NFL Draft.

  20. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Rich, thanks for drafting my guy D’Angelo Ponds. LOL

Again, I see him as a very good slot corner in the NFL. He does have great speed to play the boundary but his height would worry me.

Another CB I like in that 4th round spot if you want to go bigger is Chris Johnson from San Diego State. I do wish Johnson were a bit faster.

  21. bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

    Mike E,

Got it. You are correct of course, Parcells bailed as soon as he could and left unfinished business behind. I believe he knew he was failing and took the cowards way out.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Agreed that The Tuna essentially took the coward’s way out. However, we were doing relatively alright (including a playoff berth!) so long as he was here.

      BIG respect to MR. Pennington!

HWH and The Tuna bailed for political reasons (see CGTs).

Don’t know if Omar has a foggy memory or if he doesn’t want to revisit WHY it went down the way it did, being he was wearing a cheerleader skirt for BHO.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

We went 11-5 Year 1 with Parcells/Ireland/Sparano mostly due to Penny falling into our laps because the Jets got Brett Favre that year. Penny, Ronnie Brown and the Wildcat which somewhat reminds me of the success we had here in 2023 with the “Cheat Motion”. A one and done for them. 7-9, 7-9, 6-10. Tuna ran outta town like Art Modell and the Cleveland Browns to become the Ravens.

  22. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Mike, so what you’re saying is 7 is the magic number 😂

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Somehow I think if we win 7, everyone stays, which definitely spells doom. Do you all want to see me ragging on Grier and McDaniel all year long in 2026? I just don’t think I can come back and do this again next season without those changes made

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

On the other hand, if I knew for sure 7 wins would be the number to axe everyone, I’d root like I used to for wins every week until we reached 7! 😛

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I hear ya, I just can’t root against my team.

  23. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

I can’t root against the Dolphins either, but if they lose I’m OK with it at this point of the season.

  24. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I can do it for the greater good. I mean they got 2-6 without my help, I just want whatever it takes record wise for the axe to fall. I don’t really root against them, but I certainly won’t be crying if we lose. I just think of it as part of the necessary process to invoke the change that needs to happen, that MUST happen

  25. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    Mike E,

Tuna was loyal to HWH… that’s who signed him to be our football ‘czar’. Once HWH sold to Steve Ross, Tuna wanted out as quickly as possible.

Again, it was ALL political and about CGTs. That’s why HWH sold when he sold to begin with.

Nevertheless, that does NOT excuse Tuna from doing what he did to us. Again, I agree with ya 100%.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

      What are CGT’s?

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

        Capital Gains Taxes.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

OK gotcha! I never paid attention to the business side of the transaction, but I really don’t think Parcells spent any time scouring the landscape to find the best candidates for any particular position, he just grabbed a bunch of guys he knew. That’s lazy as fuck, as I previously mentioned. I don’t think he poured his heart into this job for a second.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

        Agreed, Mike E.

  26. bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

I find the dynamic fascinating. I still hope they do well and win, but if they get blown out, or lose a close game, the feeling isn’t as devastating as in the past. Kind of like a hopeful silver lining in the end. Not apathetic, but similar. lol.

I watched Jonah run out to get a second level block. He couldn’t get to the first guy because he ran too far and then he turned around looking for somebody else to block and couldn’t touch him either. Wiff followed by another wiff. Jesus. He looked like a 5 year old.

    steve,

like I said, I’d have to see the play again, but you can’t basically lay down sideways and roll into a guy’s ankles. Even if you don’t touch him, it’s illegal. I think. Lol

    Pigster and Manitoba,

TOTALLY agreed with the high tackles.
