2025 Season – Game 11 – Comandantes en Delfines en Madrid

A home game in Madrid! Awesome! We may actually have a home team advantage with more Dolphins fans than Commanders fans in Madrid than we would at home at Hard Rock, although it’s possible there are delusional fans who think because we beat the Bills that we’re on our way to the Super Bowl. Dolphins fans are some of the flip-floppiest people I’ve ever seen. If you’re insulted by this, then stop fucking flip-flopping! We hit rock bottom losing to the Browns and everyone, even the most absurd Tua stans jump of his wood. Now they’re beating their chest on top of the Panorama Tower in Miami like Tua is Tom Brady in his prime. Besides just gushing about Tua, they’re on the crazy train that this team is ready to make their move and defeat all comers and vanquish the AFC all the way to the Superbowl.

OK, let’s just gather ourselves for a minute. This is not a good roster, and yes, we’re probably going to beat the Comandantes en Madrid porque Los Comandantes suck way worse than our team currently does. The Commanders have lost 5 in a row, the last 4 by more than 20 points in each game. Without QB Jayden Daniels, the Commanders are lost. Marcus Mariota actually has a BETTER passer rating than Tua Tagovailoa, 91.9 vs 87.6. Put that in your Tua cigar and smoke it! There are just so many Tua fans on X that are beyond delusional. Tua is irrelevant, and the only reason at all he may return as the starting QB next season is because of his ungodly salary and cap hit. No one is trading for him, although I wish like hell someone would. Tua’s salary is also the main reason why the Dolphins may waste yet another season by retaining HC Mike McDaniel. That’s a big slap in the face to all Dolphins, even you Tua stans.

There’s a “Report Card” circulating around X that has the Dolphins as A+ according to NFL players. #1 in the NFL to the players in every single category.

Coach A+

Owner A+

Food A+

Travel A+

Weight Room A+

Treatment of family (Players families) A+

You know what? That’s great to see, it really. You know what else though? It’s time to get A+ rating from the fans by becoming a legit contender!

STEP 1 – At the end of the season, FIRE MIKE McDANIEL!!!

STEP 2 – Before the season ends, give QB Quinn Ewers playing time, preferably at least 3 games or more so you can see if this kid translates to a decent backup with starter potential or just a 3rd string QB that doesn’t need to make the 53 man next season

STEP 3 – While all this is happening, Tom Garfinkle and everyone who is qualified in the Dolphins Front Office should be researching, scouring the NFL to find our next GM. Once that list is finalized, they should begin interviewing these candidates so we have our new GM in place as quickly as possible to handle all the necessary steps to be ready for off season activities such as roster management and assessment, preparation for the 2026 Draft and anything else that needs to be done to be ready for next season

STEP 4 – Thank Champ Kelly for taking over mid season but let him know at the end of this season, his job is done and if he’d like to return here to Miami, it will be in a different capacity.

So, back to Madrid, where our Dolphins most likely will be 4-7 at around 1PM EST, or 10AM on the West Coast. I know some people are going to get excited that we’re BACK, and ready to be a Wild Card spoiler in the AFC. We might just see RT Austin Jackson and RG James Daniels on the field, and is it possible that with those 2, the offensive line will be better and complete? Sure, it’s possible, but it’s also possible those 2 are rusty, especially Daniels who missed tons of time after going out for the season with an achilles injury for Pittsburgh Week 4 of 2024. He played a couple of snaps for us before going out on IR (Imagine that??) in Week 1, so that makes for a lot of missed playing time and a lot of rust to shake off. We’ll have to wait and see. Austin Jackson was limited in practice so don’t expect him to play and James Daniels has yet to practice.

Los Comandantes feature a defense worse than ours, allowing 28 PPG good for 29th out of 32. Our Dolphins have a defensive surge lately and have moved up to #24. Hard to believe that the Commanders with the combo of Jayden Daniels/Marcus Mariota are actually ranked better than our Tua led Dolphins, Los Comandantes are #22 at 22.3 PPG while our Achane’s are at 25 at 21.0 PPG. Can you just imagine this offense w/o De’Von Achane? He’s the most impactful RB in the NFL right now outside of the Colts Jonathan Taylor. Achane has 785 rushing yards with a ridiculous 6.6 YPC and 5 rushing TD’s, and has an additional 325 yards receiving and 4 TD’s. He’s unbelievable, and he will an UFA at the end of next season unless we take of our 25 year old superstar next season. Thankfully, Grier isn’t here to tell Achane he’s “Earned the right to become a Free Agent”. Ugh!

I’m not going to discuss the 2 anchors, Former GM Chris Grier and current Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa. They are the culprits for the Cap Hell this team will be in for the ’26 season and beyond until all that DEAD CAP MONEY is gone from Grier restructuring deals and pushing money owed to the future when he’s smoking cuban cigars watching the games from his comfortable couch. If he gets another NFL executive job it will NEVER be as a GM, not by any NFL Owner with half a brain or more anyway. Tua will almost certainly be here in 2026, but once again, that doesn’t mean he has to be the starting QB if we have someone else worthy of replacing him. Tua is getting paid whether he starts or sits, and if you’re like me, you probably can’t wait for that show to end. No matter how far we get this season, I’d bet that when the chips are down as to whether we make the playoffs or not, good ole Tua will be there to let us all down, you watch!

  1. markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

kyler murray really? You are not serious are you?

  2. markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

Some of you are so clueless! Tua is our QB through 2026!

  3. markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

Kyler Murray has a career win-loss record of 38-48-1 as of late 2025. This is his record in the regular season, with a 0-1 record in the playoffs.

  4. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Well wan’t that a fugly loss for us today in Spain! A loss in the sense that we aren’t running the table to get into the playoffs (we’d be one and done anyway), and the more we win (which we actually did today), the further away we get from R1P1.

I call it LOSS, the way I see it.

If we keep it up, we may end up selecting @ R1P21, no playoffs, and a retention of Capri McD and the now weakened Tua. That’s how we stay mired in mediocrity… as we have over the last 25 years (1/4 of a CENTURY!).

  5. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I’m seriously so VERY proud of De’Von Achane and Jordyn Brooks… these guys are absolute STUD MUFFINS for us.

And congrats to my guy Jack Jones for his 1st INT as a Phin. I’d seriously consider bringing him back being his run-defense (which was questionable in years past) has gotten much better.

  6. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

And speaking of Jordyn Brooks… on that Marcus Mariota 40-yard run, just WATCH Brooks run him down from behind.

Brooks actually got into the backfield, didn’t give up, and he just accelerated 40 yards down the field past everybody to track him down. That was EFFORT on display!

Absolutely a team leader and worthy of 1st-team All-Pro, IMO.

  7. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Gabriel left the game in concussion protocol and Sanders finally got his shot to play.

    He went 4/16 for 47 yds, 1 INT, 2 sacks and a 13.5 QBR.

  8. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Tua is a shell of what he was, he got paid, then shut it down like a bitch, he’s the reason this team has 7 losses more than any other factor

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

his record in 2022, 2023 and 2024 mean nothing for 2026

If he plays wide open he’s pretty good, but can’t finish a season playing that way

In hindsight the contract he was given was retarded, many of us wanted to wait another year

  9. Randy's avatar Randy says:

I sure hope we don’t damage Achane or Waddle over the rest of the season. They’re fragile enough the way it is. I’m not liking the damage they may take if MM is playing for his job and overusing them with nothing to play for. Frankly, I’d be very happy if they were used less.

  10. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

One positive thing about the season so far, is that coming into the season we all thought our secondary would be a disaster

and right now our CBs are looking pretty good. Between Jones, Douglas and Brent’s, it’s been a pretty good group

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

the DL has come on the last several weeks, and for that matter the entire D

My thoughts before today’s game was D plays good we win, if not we’ll lose

Thats how I’ll feel the rest of the season

  11. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

    whoop whoop, screw the Chiefs.

  12. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    piggy,

I think the defensive backfield has played better than I thought they would, but they still have some pretty bad metrics. Still, better than hoped.

  13. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

2025 was actually a rebuild for us, we got younger and that youth starting to come alive

Jack Jones was remade into a complete player, the D remade

    Achane and Waddle are studs

Dulcich isn’t Jonnu, but as a #2 with Waller, he could be worthy. Love the idea of Brunskill playing a blocking TE

Get the OL healthy and we could have something next year

Just need to fix QB, Tua is serviceable for a year or he’ll have to be

  14. Randy's avatar Randy says:

This organization has been terrible at self scouting and realistically evaluating their competitive stature for a long time. It’s caused many bad decisions to be made. Ultimately it’s stunted the development of this team. Hopefully, smarter people will be in charge. You can’t fix a problem you’re too stupid to see.

  15. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

We need a new QB… a rookie who can ball. Maybe we don’t get him in ’26 Draft, but if we’re to become a perennial playoff team, we need that QB. ’27 looks good.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I mean, even ‘game manager’ Tua throws too many INTs. He’s damaged goods and it kills me to say as much. Don’t know if it’s from the neck up or the hip down (perhaps both), but Tua can’t sling the ball like he had in ’22 and ’23.

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

he tries to do too much, maybe our game 1 2025 starting OL will be ready to go in 2026

If we had only taken Tyler Warren, like I wanted…

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Note that he relied BIG TIME on Jonnu Smith so much last season and was doing great with Darren Waller before Waller went out.

Deep throws are all but gone from Tua. He needs a seam-threat to max his arm nowadays… think MR. Pennington (noodle-arm) when he was with us.

Who was MR. Pennington’s go-to guy? Anthony Fasano.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

OK, which team is going to suck in 2026, we need to trade our 2026 2nd for that team’s 2027 1st😜

  16. markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

i’m more inclined to look at things realistically, and when injuries to key players happen, it affects every team the Dolphins have been, unfortunately overly injured the last couple of years, and that has had an effect on their understanding when they are healthy they are one of the top teams when tour is healthy and his often of line is healthy. He’s one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL

  17. markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

    B

DolphinsIt took almost half the season, but the Dolphins seem to have found their secret to success: Give the ball to De’Von Achane. The Dolphins running back ran for 120 yards with 40 of that coming in the fourth quarter to help set up Miami’s game-tying touchdown. The defense got gashed up at times by a Commanders rushing attack that totaled 179 yards, but the unit also made two of the biggest plays of the game: Not only was their a goal line stand in the fourth quarter that kept the Commanders from taking a 20-13 lead, but there was also an interception from Jack Jones in overtime that helped send Miami to the win. At 4-7, the Dolphins’ season is hanging on by a thread, but it’s still hanging there as they head into their Week 12 bye.

  18. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Tua has 6 more games to go to make it through only his 2nd NFL season without missing any games and I wish him the very best of health. Just remember… one more concussion and his career may come to a close.

And should that come to fruition (I certainly hope NOT!), Tua and Capri McD are likely out the door… and I do NOT want it to end in that fashion: I actually care about the health of others, even when it happens to a divisional rival (minus Tom Brady in ’08).

Just sayin’… none of us have any idea who our GM, HC, or even our QB may be next season due to this fact.

  19. markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

The dolphins are missing the entire right side of the line, Tyreek, 3 rookies on the defensive line, rookie left guard, rookie safety. I don’t to hear about other teams injuries. 5 draft picks in the top 100 it’s crazy to say this team won’t be good next year. Rookies are developing pretty well so there is talent here

    • markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

This post was by someone else I agree….

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

While I absolutely agree with ya that there’s something to work with here in Miami, I disagree with ya that there’s anything to salvage for the rest of the season… AKA playoffs.

      • markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

The playoffs are a long shot that is getting shorter with each win……still out of reach IMHO, but they are keeping the hopes alive and they are playing some of their best football of the season, winning 3 of their last 4 games.

  21. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

One of the reasons a team should never play to lose is the fact that FAs may want to come play for ya: FAs don’t want to go to a ‘loser’ team.

Problem with that for us? We’re already so screwed financially for ’26. It’s not as though we can sign a couple of high-priced FAs to immediately turn things around for us. Thanks, General Grief!

  22. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    Markeyh,

I must admit… your positivity is impressive to me! All I can do is call it the way I see it, and it’s NEVER personal… not to you, and not to anyone.

Your positivity reminds me of Tim in many ways, and that’s a GOOD thing. 🙂

  23. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

They have to build through the draft, they have no money to spend on free agents.

  24. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

Capri McD snuck into the presser and asked Ollie Gordon to talk about how well hes been coached.

Between last weeks troll job at the Jills bar and now this, at least hes enjoying himself if this is the final ride for him.

I think Tua is damaged goods too

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

he always had strengths and weaknesses but now it seems like all he has is weaknesses – and I think McDaniel sees it

If it weren’t for Achane I think we have real problems this year

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Absolutely, my flying porcine pal. One can truly see his physical falloff post ’22 and ’23… and I’m not talking about his stats.

Personally, I feel that hip of his doesn’t allow him to put his body (drive) into his throws any longer. He’s certainly a shadow of what he once was, physically and mechanically as a QB.

I see lots of ‘arm throws’, not putting his body into his throws as he once had.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Oh yeah… and when I do see Tua put his body (drive) into his throws, it looks awkward to me… as in it doesn’t look like the Tua of ’22 or ’23.

He’s laboring out there with his deeper throws… which is why he’s now turned into a dink-n-dunker, IMO.

Remember that the hip injury he sustained at Alabama was almost the end of him… as in ‘Bo Jackson hip’.

  26. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

MikeE said “and a QB who is now Ryan Tannehill Part II”

    ——-

At least RT had some “game” to him.

  27. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Looks like all our 2026 draft picks will take a hit today. Texans won again and looking like the Eagles will also.

  28. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I enjoyed the Chiefs losing more than I did our win. lol

  29. New Age's avatar New Age says:

    MF13,

Just another thing to lay at our scouting dept and Grier. Taking an injury prone and small QB at 5 with the hip injury you mentioned. If a QB can’t plant, twist and throw, what good is he? Allen was picked at 7. Mike M is just asking Tua not to lose games at this point. With that said, we should win our next two games.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Right there with ya, New Age. HORRIBLE idea to take a brutally injured (‘Bo Jackson hip’), ‘small’ QB in Tua @ R1P5. That’s our Dolphins for us, ugh.

And yeah… we probably WILL win our next two games, knowing our luck! LOL

And with every win from here on out, we get farther and farther away from a top-10 pick in the ’26 Draft.

  30. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I do have to say, despite Cole Strange and Larry Borum lacking in pass pro, they were run blocking their ass off today.

I saw some great blocking today from everyone except Ingold. Ingold whiffed at least 4 times I saw. Just pathetic attempts and that is his job. Ingold was our worst player on offense today. I mean, right now due to restructures and players on IR, Ingold is the 6th highest paid player on the 2025 active roster. In 2026, he currently will be the 10th highest paid player until they release Tyreek. I would cut him next year and clear 3m in cap.

Julian Hill, Strange, Borum, Brewer all had a good day run blocking.

I can’t remember the play. It was either a run or pass play. The Dolphins player with the ball was getting wrapped up about 20 yards down field and Brewer came flying out of nowhere and just pulverized one of the tacklers. He looked like he was shot out of a cannon.

  31. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I like Dan Campbell, but I have to question some of his coaching decisions also.

  32. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Tankathon now has us at pick #11. It should stay there unless the Cowboys lose to the Raiders on Monday night, then it will be #12.

I like thier new 4 round mock for us except QB Carson Beck in the 4th at #111. Give me Cade Klubnik, Sawyer Robertson or Haynes King instead.

    #11 Mansoor Delane CB LSU

    #43 Anthony Hill ILB Texas

    #75 Caleb Tiernan OT Northwestern

    #78 Michael Trigg TE Baylor

    #93 Damon Wilson Edge Missouri

No worries…Miami will be picking middle of the pack anyway. Maybe they can make some trades and build 2027 draft capital. Get a new QB then.

  38. Randy's avatar Randy says:

Maybe those folks who want to draft a QB in the middle rounds will get their wish if some of these QBs fall. I still think by April several of them will be seen as first round picks. It happens every year. It always amazes me how much better these players get between January and April after they’re done playing.

  41. markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

Premature expectations are what many of you who think Tua is done in Miami or that Miami is done with Tua. He will be our starter next year, 100% guaranteed, and Miami would be wise to just continue to add talent to this young team in the 2026 NFL draft and look to the 2027 draft class for a QB. JMHO!

  42. pbfinfan's avatar pbfinfan says:

You are correct, Tina will be here next year, along with MM, unfortunately. The sooner we get rid of both, the better we will be.

  43. markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

Tua is not perfect, but no QB is. When they protect him like they should, he plays at a high level when they suffer injuries to 2 key starters like we have this year, losing Jackson and Daniels since week one, then we have what we’ve had for the season so far.

I find it odd that many of you here have given up on him without at least factoring in how the o-line has been affected, losing two of our starters since week 1.

Add to that losing veteran players this offseason, and depending on Rookies to get acclimated to the NFL has been challenging, but the last month, this team seems to have finally hit its stride.

The remainder of the season will determine their fate.

  44. markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

As of November 17, 2025, Tua Tagovailoa’s career win-loss record as the Miami Dolphins starting quarterback is 43-31.

    CB, Jack Jones – 90.7

    RT, Larry Borom – 87.3

    TE, Julian Hill – 86.0

    RB, De’Von Achane – 84.6

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I’m beginning to believe we may have struck gold in Jack Jones. His overall game has drastically improved under Anthony Weaver, especially his run-defense.

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

That’s not a surprise on Borom and Hill. I said as much last night they were run blocking their ass off. Hill cleared the way for the one and only run TD.

  46. Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

    Markeyh,

You can throw all the stats out there that you want, but a QB isn’t judged on just wins anymore. With all of the analytics that have come out, more goes into evaluating the QB position. Tua has had some success, there is no denying that. But right now he has turned into a game manager. Give me two games in the last two seasons , make it three, where he has put his team on his back to pull out a victory .

  47. markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

Also, what about losing Tyreek Hill, his best WR? That has also had an effect on this team.

Losing Tyreek Hill, their best wide receiver, has significantly impacted the Miami Dolphins by removing their top deep threat and playmaker, a loss that has forced Jaylen Waddle into the primary WR1 role and potentially hurt the overall offense, although Waddle has performed well in the increased capacity. The team has also had to add depth to the wide receiver position and deal with the uncertainty of Hill’s potential future in the NFL.

  48. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Rock, regarding that article you posted.

“While Dart has played well with the Giants, he is currently sidelined with a concussion and has been evaluated for head injuries four times since the preseason.”

    ——–

    Yikes!

Anyway, a few games into the college season, I was down to 3 QB’s I like to take in the first round. Now, 7 weeks later, I am down to only Mendoza. That said, I am still taking one next year and another in 2027. The 2026 draft, I am thinking Cade Klubnik, Sawyer Robertson, Haynes King or in the 4th or 5th. I would throw Trinidad Chambliss in there as a 5th also if he is in the draft. There is a question about whether he has another year of eligibility or not.

Keep drafting one until we find one.

  49. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Markey – As long as we agree on the parameters now, Tua is a game manager who can’t put the team on his back, and knowing we haven’t won a playoff game in over 25 years, why would you want to go forward with him when you know everything is never going to be perfect here?

    • markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

Because until we find someone better he gives us the best chance at winning. He has won more than he has lost for Miami.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

OK, but knowing he’s not the one, doesn’t that make you want to FIND that QB? I’d draft, and keep drafting until I find that player, and would give that player every opportunity to take the field as well

      • markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

I have already posted earlier how since he was drafted he has the 11th most wins in the league

“Tua is 11th just behind Joe Burrow!” November 17, 2025 at 2:26 pm

      • markeyh's avatar markeyh says:

I just don’t see QB as our main priority more than O-Line and more weapons on offense to complement the ones we have.

  50. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

The only thing I don’t like about Chambliss’s game is his size at 6’1, 205. For him to come from Zach Sieler’s school Div II Ferris State and play this well at Ole Miss in the SEC is impressive. With wins over ranked Oklahoma and LSU then a 43-35 loss to #4 Georgia.

  51. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

it looks like we will have Austin Jackson back by our next game

what do we do about Borom?

he’s playing well from what I gather

  54. Randy's avatar Randy says:

Stop blaming the OL. It’s not why Tua hasn’t performed. I think the last I looked we were in the middle of the pack in sacks allowed. Maybe, if Tua could actually move better than a drunken slug, he wouldn’t get hit or sacked as often.

  55. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Study these numbers/stats. Yes, stats do tell a story if ya know what you’re looking at.

For instance, Tua played 11 games last season and 11 games this season… and Capri McD has taken the ball out of Tua’s passing attempts by nearly 90 times this season. There’s a rhyme and reason for that.

And look at Tua’s yards gained per pass attempt… it keeps going down over his peak in ’22… he’s turned into a dink-n-dunker. There’s a rhyme and reason for that.

Tua isn’t the same QB we had in ’22 and ’23. He’s injured/damaged… whether it be from the neck up or the hip down.

Tua can never get a good pre-snap read on the D to call an audible because there is no time, ever. At this point in Tua’s career, he should be calling audibles when he sees something he doesn’t like. He can’t because he has barely enough time to read the D. He has to go with what is called. It also hampers the OL calling out protections.

Regarding the CONSTANT injuries in Miami over the years, I’ve offered that perhaps there’s something in the water down there.

This season at the moment are 4-7, if we run the table we can go 10-7, but if we stumble once or twice, it’s 9-8 or 8-9, and in reality, even if we make the playoffs, we’re going to be one and done, because Tua’s not good enough if anything else isn’t perfect. To me, that’s NOT winning, that’s running on a treadmill, you’re getting nowhere.

but very few coaches go for it there. I think he said 2 in 25 years which is wild if yiu think about it

i guess part of the benefit is even if you don’t make it, they have to go more than 90 yards with little time left

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

They needed to go about 60 yards to kick a game winner, not 90, and they had more than a minute and a half left and I think 2 TOs (I can’t recall on the TOs)- but they had plenty of time. The way kickers make 55+ yard kicks nowadays we were just lucky he missed it.

If they had needed a TD I would have been all for going for it in that scenario but I wouldn’t have gone for it when a FG beats you.

I actually thought running Achane on 3rd down instead of Gordon was the bigger mistake since the plan was to go for it on 4th anyway. If you know your going on 4th, then give Ollie 2 chances.

It all worked out in the end though.

  74. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I can help clear up some of the 4th down going for it odds. Obviously it’s just a general thing, not taking the current situation into account. We were facing a backup QB without his best WR and the Commanders struggled to move the valley all day, with the exception of the run game which they didn’t really have enough time to use

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

      Struggled to move the ball?

They had 379 yards total, 22 first downs, 6 for 13 on 3rd down, Mariotta outpaced Tua passing the ball.

Their problem was they kept shooting themselves in the foot to kill drives they missed 2 FGs, and we turned them over twice.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I actually kind of look at it the other way. If we were facing Mahomes or Allen, then absolutely you go for the TD. Giving one of them the ball back with over 1:30 is just asking for them to drive and win the game with a TD.

But against a 2nd or 3rd tier QB that has moved the ball well between the 20s, but only gotten in the end zone once, take the points, you figure the worst case scenario is they kick to tie it and you go OT.

I guess these kinds of decisions can be second guessed until the cows come home. We won the game. If they’d done it the other way, maybe we don’t and I’d be saying “we should have got the live chicken”, lol.

Kong – Hard not to outpace Tua, he didn’t throw a pass the entire 4th quarter!

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Mariota was 20-30 213 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT. The Commanders ran the ball as I said, 172 yards rushing, which I mentioned was negated mostly due to the time constraint of having about a 1:30 on the clock remaining. To be fair, your post makes it look like they were a juggernaut, but nearly half their yards were on the ground.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

But they had no trouble moving the ball, especially between the 20s. They were effective passing and running.

They only punted once the entire game. And they moved into FG range pretty quickly. Thankfully, they are the only team in the league that can’t hit a long FG.

Kong, is the The Hierarchy series by James Islington written in first person? I did this, I saw that, I was doing this and I did that?

I cannot stand first person writing. “I” being printed on a page 20-30 times is off putting to me.

I think I told you guys already, but I re-read the Belgariad and Malloreon by Eddings earlier this year and I picked up “Belgarath the Sorcerer” and “Polgara the Sorceress” which I had never read when they came out.

Belgarath wasn’t that great. I have been stuck on Polgara for close to a month now. It sucks, Eddings in actually turning my opinion of the original series with how bad it is. I never really liked the character Polgara all that much in the original series, but I can’t stand the “rewriting of history” and the arrogance in the tone in the prequel.

The whole “everyone thinks this, but for 1000’s of years I never corrected them until now” BS bothers me. Also, the asides to characters in the later (earlier) novels I find gross. Stuff like “I got you there didn’t I Silk”

Anyway, I NEED a new series, but If the Hierarchy series is written first person, I will have to pass because the style is annoying to me.

Yes, it’s first person. You didn’t like the Amber series by Zelazny? Great classic series written first person. But yeah, if it bothers you that much, then Hierarchy is obviously not for you.

The Licanius trilogy is simply wirtten but has one of the best ending payoffs in any series I have ever read. You can tell it’s a first time writer with a lot of talent, but that ending was great.

I’ve never read the companion pieces to the Belgariad and Mallorean. I nostalgically tried to start those series the other day and I just can’t get into them. They are too juvenile. Loved them when I was younger and just starting in the world of fantasy, but ‘let’s take turns smashing the bad guys and making quips on this travelogue’ over and over is not as compelling as it used to be, lol.

MikeE, It’s going t be much worse than that. Once they cut Tyreek, we will have $62,389,385 in 2026 dead cap.

Then, just between Tua, Chubb, MFF and our dead cap (with Tyreek added) is going to take up $168,841,124 of our 2026 cap.

Only good thing is a pre 6/1 release of Tyreek will also clear 23.65m in cap which will put us at about 23.3m in cap to start free agency. Add in another 3-4m that we carry over will put us at around 27m. Again, like every year, barely enough money to sign draftees and fill out the roster with bargain basement players.

I don’t see it increasing that much. OTC is much more reserved projecting about a 17m increase putting us starting out at $-11,640,240.

If OTC is right and after cutting Tyreek, we will have only about 12m in cap plus maybe a 4m carryover leaving us at around 16m in cap to sign rookies and free agents.

Piggy, we could but, based on Spotrac’s #’s, our only cap space available would be what we carry over. Starting out at $-368,678 plus our carryover would leave us with only about 3-4m in cap to spend until June 2nd.

Then, if OTC is closer to the projected cap than Spotrac, we are looking at being -7m in cap still and having to restructure and push a bunch of dead money down the road.

That is likely to happen anyway (restructures), but Chubb, MFF, Jackson and Sieler have been restructured and already have future dead money. That really only leaves restructuring Tua and Waddle, mainly.

We could have around 100m in 2027 cap space. I just would hate to see them screw that up.

Long story short, our momentum that we’ve built up until this point in the season has been built on our work week. I’m not as nervous about the momentum altering. I think we kind of learned the hard way — or were forced to learn the hard way on a way to get our team to play the way we feel like we’re capable of playing. The rest is necessary when you really empty the tank, but I think our formula is the guys didn’t blink going overseas. They really found a way to remanufacture that practice energy and that focus and that strain. I think it’s a good time to get rest, that’s the next thing we have to win.”

That’s all contingent on a plethora of matters. For a rook to have immediate success depends on his skills, to be drafted into the right system, to have support (both on and off the field), and the right coaching.

To date, I AM feeling encouraged about our day 3 rooks.

As for Kenneth Grant and Big Jonah? I’m NOT feeling very encouraged to date… but it’s alright, they could eventually turn into studs if everything goes right.

For Weaver to get the most out of day 3 picks (as rookies) is MOST impressive!

  94. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

It’s my most sincere of hopes that IF Steve Ross brings back Capri McD, that we’re able to retain Anthony Weaver as our DC.

All of that goes out the window if Weaver accepts a HC job elsewhere, and he’s sure to be interviewed again for that role this offseason… especially when taking the Rooney Rule into consideration.

If I had it MY way, we’d fire Capri McD after the season ends and hire Weaver as our new HC. And yes… that means Tua riding the pines (if warranted) for $50M+ next season, just as the Falcons have done with Kirk Cousins this season.

My only question regarding Weaver as a HC: is his (coaching) net wide enough to find us a legit OC? Perhaps he’d go to the college ranks if not.

  95. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

M – I wouldn’t do what you’re saying with Weaver. That’s still putting the cart before the horse. Why can’t we ever do it right? Hire a good GM and let them build the team how they want to build it. Otherwise it’s always the blame game, is it the GM, is it the HC? I hate the ambiguity. I want the GM to find the HC he wants and then you know they will be working together in unison and harmony. I think hiring a HC before you have a GM is a real bad way to do things. Before you say keep Kelly, then you do realize Kelly is then handling Free Agency and then the Draft so a lot of important stuff. If all of that is wrong, it sets us back years

I understand where you’re coming from.

Okay, so IF Steve Ross brings back Capri McD (and by extension, Tua), and IF Champ Kelly remains GM for ’26… you GOTTA bring back Anthony Weaver as DC, being he’s the best coach on our team, IMO.

As Markeyh stated above, if Ross wants Weaver, he will make it worth hi$ while to remain our DC next $eason… instead of allowing him to become a head coach elsewhere.

I’m extraordinarily high on Anthony Weaver. And I repeat, he reminds me very much of Dan Campbell-type of coach.
