I’m sure some of you will be glad to hear that I’m actually a little excited to watch this upcoming matchup with the Dolphins traveling to Pittsburgh to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers. It’s not because I think we’re on our way to the Superbowl or even heading towards making the playoffs. The Dolphins have won 4 in a row, and 5 of 6. Head Coach Mike McDaniel has decided to make some changes on offense, namely taking the ball out of his mistake prone QB’s hands and delivering it to a now potent rushing attack. It’s precisely the type of offense that can play well in cold weather, and while the offense is humming without Tua, the defense has also kicked it up a notch. Over the last 6 games, only 1 team has scored more than 20 points our defense, and that was the Baltimore Ravens back on October 30th. That’s winning football right there, although the opponents do have something to do with that.
Here’s the thing, it’s not that I think the Steelers are a great team, they’re not. Their defense is not the Steel Curtain Defense of the 70’s, but they do have a fearsome pass rush, but that might be hindered if star LB T.J. Watt can’t play. He was admitted to the hospital after having discomfort in practice and has a lung issue. Bad news for the Dolphins is that was yesterday (Thursday) and the game is Monday Night, so Watt still has time to get right. The Steelers defense even with T.J. Watt have been allowing more points than the Dolphins D at a sliver under 24.0 PPG, good for 19th in the NFL. The Dolphins are currently at 15th allowing a shade under 23 PPG. Steelers are #21 in rushing yards allowed, and #28 in passing yards allowed. The Steelers are 6th in sacks though with 36. The Dolphins are #10 in passing yards allowed and #24 in rushing yards allowed.
I’m really curious to see what this Miami Dolphins team can do. Again, the Steelers are not a top NFL team, but they’re not a bad team either, and we’ve been playing some bad competition lately with the Jayden Daniels-less Commanders, the Tyler Shough led Saints and then the Brady Cook led Jets (After the early departure of QB Tyrod Taylor). So you can see we caught a break in some of those games, although somehow Saints QB Tyler Shough managed to easily out play our QB Tua Tagovailoa, but we still got the dub. It’s going to be a cold game for sure, a night game in Pittsburgh in mid December is a guarantee for low temps, and Monday night is expected to be around 15 degrees and cloudy, but no precipitation is expected at the moment. Historically this team would wither like a flower in the winter would, but this iteration of Mike McDaniels offense can play in this type of weather.
The story for the Dolphins is how much abuse can RB De’Von Achane take with an rib injury (not a broken rib, just sore)? Jaylen Wright had a breakout game last week against the Jets, but the Steelers are atop the AFC North division and would very much like to stay there, so they won’t roll over like the Jets did last week. There has been talk about potentially letting long term HC Mike Tomlin go, or maybe Tomlin wants a change of scenery, but either way, he doesn’t want to lose a game like this in his house. Will they sell out to stop the run and make QB Tua Tagovailoa beat them? You’d have to think that’s in the cards, and then the question will be can Qb Tua Tagovailoa turn the switch back on? It’s been on OFF the last 4 games, throwing no more than 23 passes in all 4, while also not topping 175 yards in ANY of the 4 games.
RB De’Von Achane has been one of the best RB’s in the NFL. He leads the NFL with 12 rushes of 20+ yards, and is 4th overall. If you watch the games, he’s the most important player on our offense, he makes it go. Jaylen Wright is not the same type of player. Achane has amazing quickness and vision and zero hesitation. He sees the hole and is through it in a blink. While he’s not a physical runner, he’s very elusive with excellent body control and rarely takes dead on hits. He has an uncanny ability to not get leveled. Any time he touches the ball in the pass game, even if it’s behind the LOS as it is many times, and even if defenders see it, he still manages to get positive yardage, and he’s a dangerous receiver a few yards past the LOS as well. No other RB on our team can duplicate what he does, in fact not may RB’s across the NFL can. He’s in Bijan Robinson, Jahmyr Gibbs, James Cook, even Jonathan Taylor territory. We’re going to need a healthy Achane to win this one.
Back to my curiosity for this game. Let’s assume the Steelers sell out against the run, and let’s also assume that Steelers LB T.J. Watt is playing. Can the Dolphins rely on QB Tua Tagovailoa to win this game when both big games and cold games have been his ruination? It’s fascinating to me, it really is. If Achane is anywhere near 100%, I don’t think the Steelers can shut him down entirely and force us to pass more, I think Mike McDaniel can find a way to get Achane some room, whether it’s a 6th OL, or motion or fakes, Mike knows who gets the offense going. On the other hand, I’m interested to see if Jaylen Wright can put together another successful day. I doubt he gets 24 carries like he did against the Jets, but hopefully it’s not one carry and then off the field. Will RB Ollie Gordon be able to play his physical style and get some action. All questions that will be answered in 3 days time, so buckle up!
GO DOLPHINS!!!

SMMFH… just get Tua out of there.
Or leave him in and hope for the career ending hit 🤔
Do you think with all of his concussions, Tua has forgotten that he’s allowed to throw the ball away when he’s outside of the tackles?
Tua is burnt toast.
OK, so we’re mathematically eliminated. There is no reason Tua should ever be behind center for us ever again. Start Wilson or Ewers next week. Bring in a guy off the street if you have to to start next year.
Yes please! Make it Ewers, Wilson is horrible and he’s gone next season
I agree. Wilson sucks. Let’s see Ewers now.
He looks sooo lost out there. Any rookie could be better than him.
if grier was in congress, they’d be looking at him now for corruption with tues contract.Wonder how much kickback grier got
Tua’s
No team in Theo right mind would trade for Tua , even if we paid 3/4 of his salary
Two Offensive plays ago, Tua could have been intercepted not once, twice, but thrice on the same play!!!
HOLY SVUCKS!
Nice job Brooks. Way to use your head you fucking moron.
Saw that coming
Now this is what we needed. Show Ross nothing has changed. Clean house!
^
That was a bullshit call at this point in the game

I didn’t see his actions as penalty-worthy… nor did Troy Aikman. That was a very ticky-tack call from the zebras, IMO. Oh… and we’re in infamous Pittsburgh, were the zebras ALWAYS side with the Stealers*.
given Aaron Rogers was taunting the entire sideline immediately the very next play with no call at all , it looks even worse
Right ?!
In our eyes NO , in the rules YES .. dumb over enforced rule
6-11 is still a good crappy record. Play Ewers! Tua sucks!
Have you guys seen Grant playing much tonight? Honestly, I haven’t seen him once
NOPE!
Should have drafted Walter Nolen instead.
Jakeem still plays for us ?
DE Kenny Grant – Silly Toba!
🙂
Come in. We are missing our best OL. You know they guy that has played a whole 3 snaps for this team……..
Right ? He never played for us ..how can we be missing him .. dumb narrative
I’m not sure who I want to see less. The guy with the green hair in the Zepbound commercial or Tua. Ok, that’s fucking bullshit. I’d rather see the green hair guy!
Fuck this team!
Minkah gets injured, and the next play Jonnu runs it in? Yeah… that was a serious “fuck you” to our Phins.
Grant has been playing tonight. I dont know the number of snaps but I feel like I’ve seen him a lot
He has one tackle
there’s 5 guys with more than 3 on the entire roster and I know we haven’t been playing a 5 man defense
was Achane not on the field on that two point play?
they never run a no huddle offense and it drives me crazy
2 hospital balls delivered by Tua this drive.
He’s been sailing them all night. Even the TD to Waller
Wow Troy , can you call Ross and tell him all this ??
it’s funny bc it’s not new to any of us who have been watching this team every week and the announcers are in awe of how bad it is
Exactly
the announcers are criticizing MM times management skill – they are seeing what we’ve been seeing for 4 years now
1/2 the time I think Aikman is drunk , but tonight he is on the ball with his shots at Tua and McD .. hopefully Ross is paying attention
yep
most of the time I hate the announcers and these two in particular annoy me
but they didn’t sugarcoat their criticism and it was directed in the right place
Couldn’t have outrun him for a yard 😱
I would like to see Dulcich stick around
Same here, bud.
I’m not predicting as much, but I will say… I will NOT be surprised if Capri McD is fired tomorrow. If he’s to be fired in-season, tomorrow will be the day.
Two seasons in a row, not qualifying for the playoffs.
Well, McD is really bad at game management, but he seems like a fairly smart dude. A smart dude would push for Ewers now that we’re out and try to show that the problem is Tua…not the coaches.
The game wasn’t really competitive and a lot of that is a terrible offense. The only problem for McD is that no QBs have looked good playing for him. Has anyone in management noticed that yet? He better hope not.
Y’all haven’t heard from me in awhile. In short, Tua is not an NFL QB any longer.
I LOVE McD and want to defend him bc he’s creative and eccentric and interesting, and genuinely does have loyalty in the locker room for the most part (I honestly dgaf about former players who made minor comments), but the game management thing has just gone on for too long. It’s barely even noticed, but the time it takes to call in a play ends up costing us a timeout at some point during most games.
Achane, hell yeah
Waddle, hell yeah
I think we have a fair amount of other good players (also that penalty of Brooks for giving a guy a dirty look when Rodgers got to stand on our sideline and talk shit on the next play…can we please NFL, enough with the “point of emphasis” and changing games for “taunting” that really isn’t that.
But this is so screwed. We have talent rotting on the vine here. I want McD to play Evers. Tua is clearly going to get him fired (cake probably already baked)….but Ross has to let him, or better yet, order him to, sit Tua. Our best scenario is that he’s the highest paid emergency QB in NFL history.
While I’m ranting. Why is illegal man downfield a penalty? If they’re not even eligible receivers, they pose exactly zero threat to a defense, yet the NFL has an illegal man downfield threshold that’s 1/3 of what college lineman get.
It’s just one of those penalties that literally only holds the game up. Nobody has an advantage when it’s committed, yet, big plays get overturned. This one is common sense.
craziest thing of them all, this is one of the best O Lines we’ve had in a very long time. But our fins always find a new way to trip over their, uh….Richards.
Great posts Jahndoh and good to “see” you!
I was actually thinking tonight I’ve seen better HS QBs than what a saw inTua tonight. Maybe it’s a bit hyperbolic, but not by much.
My question would be to the team. Can’t they see Tua in all his glory? The king with no clothes?
Did I see or hear Tua’s stat line about his league-leading number of interceptions that they’ve all been in the red zone?
Yikes!
Telling clutch performance…lol
Should be enough rope now…lol
