2025 Season – Game 6 – Chargers @ Dolphins

Let me preface this article by saying that I completely and fully understand how just how bad this team really is. I know 2 very important units, the offensive and defensive lines are inadequate. Our first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft was at #13, Michigan DT Kenneth Grant. He’s been ranked as one of the worst DT’s in the NFL for his play through 5 games. Our 2nd pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, one that required GM Chris Grier to trade picks #48, #98 and #135 for pick #37 and #143 from the Las Vegas Raiders. Guess what folk? If you guessed that OG Jonah Savaiinaea is rated as one of the worst OG’s in the NFL through 5 games, you’d be right. Stay with me for a second. Our #1 pick in RD1, #13, is either rated the worst, or darn close in the NFL. I can guarantee you that there are other rookie DT’s drafted and playing that aren’t as bad as our valuable 1st RD pick. I can also guarantee you that there are a bunch of OG’s taken after Jonah Savaiianea was drafted that are playing and are doing better than the player we needed to trade multiple picks for. A career isn’t determined by 5 games, but it looks bad on Chris Grier right now, because the way this team is assembled, we need both of these players right now, and have needed them since the season began because we don’t have anyone better to replace them with. Are you starting to realize that this needs to be the last time GM Chris Grier runs a draft for this team?

Now onto my favorite topic. I was thinking to myself about things that both Chris Grier and Mike McDaniel said about QB Tua Tagovailoa. We need him to stay healthy, we need him on the field so we don’t want him doing anything that puts himself in harms way. at 1-4, I say do we really need QB Tua Tagovailoa to be healthy and playing QB for us and playing to stay out of harms way? How’s that working Chris, Mike? What if you tell QB Tua Tagovailoa let it all hang out, play with reckless abandon and get us back into this season? Would he say no? Does it matter if he gets hurt? I watched NY Giants QB Jaxson Dart beat up on the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles. He played with reckless abandon, put his body on the line, and the team is energized by him and they respond by playing better. Turn on a Bucs game any week, and there’s QB Baker Mayfield putting his body in harms way and leading his team to victories. He’s a leader, and not only leads his team with words, he leads by example. Is Tua more important than Baker Mayfield? Do Tua’s teammates not deserve that type of effort from their QB? What exactly does Tua inspire? Nothing! He’s like a wet rag, and his response in his presser that win or lose it doesn’t matter because when he gets home he gets to see his wife and kids and that’s all that matters. While he’s not wrong as far as life is concerned, fans, and probably teammates don’t want to hear that shit. Time to either get this guy to do what needs to be done or sit his ass down and let Zach Wilson play for a few weeks until you can get rookie QB Quinn Ewers up to speed with the offense and get him plenty of reps so when he takes the field, he’s ready. Maybe it’s game 10 or 14, but that should be the plan.

Back to this dreadful season, we host the Los Angeles Chargers. Oooh, get excited, another matchup of 2020 Draft QB’s, #5 Tua Tagovailoa vs #6 Justin Herbert. Since Jim Harbaugh has taken over the Head Coach duties for the LA Chargers, QB Justin Herbert has been a different player. Last season Herbert was a much more careful QB, throwing only 3 INT’s the entire season. The Chargers went 11-6 and lost in ugly fashion to the Houston Texans 32-12 in their Wild Card matchup. This season, the Chargers are 3-2 and tied for 1st place with the Denver Broncos. The Dolphins are one step above the basement thanks to the NY Jets who are on track for the first pick in the NFL Draft. At this point, if Chris Grier is still with this organization it doesn’t matter if we pick #1 or #32, he will screw it up anyway.

Will we still be the De’Von Achane’s on offense, or will they allow a few others to participate? Anyone watch the NY Giants against the Philadelphia Eagles? You this guy Cam Skattebo kicking some ass? We drafted a RB in RD 6, RB Ollie Gordon who put up very similar stats to Cam Skattebo in the same conference, the Big 12. Ollie Gordon has 21 carries in 5 games, and most times, it’s just one carry and back out. He’s a physical runner and he needs reps, consecutive reps to get going, like maybe a good amount of a drive. Nope, they’ll run Achane into the ground. We saw Darren Waller have tons of success in the first half of last weeks game and then POOF! He disappeared! Waller had 5 catches for 78 yards and 1 TD. Now he’s questionable for this game as he’s logged only one limited practice so far this week with his recurring hip injury. This offense, team is so stale, it’s like the cheese doodle that fell under your couch 4 years ago and even the house insects don’t want to eat it anymore.

Our defense is allowing the 2nd highest average yards per carry at 5.6 in the NFL. We’re allowing the highest passer rating in the NFL at 117.6. On offense, we have scored the least amount of points in our division, yes, less than the Jets, scoring 107 points, which BTW, is better than the LA Chargers who have scored 98. The big difference is the Chargers have only allowed 97 points while our Dolphins defense has been generous enough to allow 145, good for 27th in the NFL. I blame mostly Grier, he assembled this roster, so this is his baby, but I don’t know if there’s a coach on this team I want to see back in 2026 in any capacity. Surely, none of them deserve to be HC. I can tell you I’d take former Dolphins LB Coach Anthony Campanile back, but on this staff right now, no thanks!

I don’t know what’s going to happen this week but I know I’d rather have the HC of the Chargers over our Capri Pants Wearing Mumbler. I wanted Jim Harbaugh for years. He’s crazy AF, but that guy is a hardass coach who knows how to win. On that note, if/when the curtain falls on Mike McDaniel and Chris Grier, who are our potential Head Coach candidates. I know many of you have already dismissed former HC Jon Gruden. I would be absolutely fine with hiring him. He knows how to do the entire job, not just one facet of it. He’s won a Superbowl, but that doesn’t disqualify him for me, knowing that no Head Coach has won a Super Bowl with 2 different teams in NFL history. Let’s back to being a good football team and I’ll worry about not winning a SB later!
