Mikey Says . . .

OK, so this week will be the first, and hopefully the last article called “Mikey Says” Unfortunately, I only got one question this week (Thanks Wyo!). What I then decided to do, was just give my impression of our first effort against the Redskins, and a little preview and some advice of what we need to improve on in that game.

First off though, let’s answer the question that was asked, he certainly deserves that much!

from Wyo

Q – Now that Lynch got STUFFED for a loss to seal the LOSS for the water chickens!
Can we finally quit hearing about “If they would have run Lynch they would have won the SB”?

For the Fins There seems to be a lot of Folks that must have drank the Kool-Aid?
But it’s not the usual Kool-Aid Swillers! It’s the negative Nellie’s!

Did everyone not realize our LB’s were the weak spot of the team?
That our line hadn’t had time to work together and there would be growing pains?

Nah, I still think the Seahawks should have run the ball, you go with what brung ya, and that’s what got the Seahawks to the big game game. It’s not like we were asking them to run from the 5 yard line, they were at the 1, so let Marshawn finish the tired, underinflated Patriots defense off and give Pete the Weasel the trophy.

As for the Dolphins, yes the LB’s aren’t great, but I did expect a lot more from them. Sheppard was non-existent, and although Misi and Jenkins were better, still nary an impact play from that group.

As for the O-line, I don’t want any damn excuses that they haven’t worked together. How did Washington’s O-line with RT Morgan Moses who is a new starter, RG rookie Brandon Scherff, newly acquired C from SF Kory Lichtensteiger, newly acquired LG from CLE Shawn Lauvao and pro bowl LT Trent Williams keep our vaunted D-line off of Kirk Cousins? Look at the Redskins D-line of LE Stephen Paea, NT Terrance Knighton, RE Jason Hatcher, and tell me which D-line would you rather block? We managed one paltry sack against the Redskins newly put together O-line, and it was rookie Jordan Phillips, not “Everything is different, Suh is here”, or Earl Mitchell, Vernon or the great EarthWake. Honestly, there are no excuses. This is what we chose to go with, and we will either be good or bad with it.

Thanks for participating as per usghe Wyo!

OK, now for some scathing commentary on our 2015 Miami Dolphins . . .

So a bunch of cut blocking no name Washington Redskins O-linemen neutralized the best D-line in football? WTF! Seriously? We’re OK with this? I’m not OK with it at all. That unit better show a helluva lot more than what they showed Week 1 against the Redskins. No run stopping, blowing up running plays in the backfield. No sacks, nothing! If it weren’t for rookie Jordan Phillips busting through, we wouldn’t have had a sack against WAS, and don’t tell me one was brought back due to penalty! WahWah!

I’m shocked how bad Sheppard was. This is last chance at ever being s starting MLB in the NFL, and he goes out there and makes 3 tackles and 2 assists, while the Redskins have 37 rush attempts, for 151 yards. That’s embarrassing. Was he spectating? Is he a big fan of Zach Vigil, and he’s trying to give him a leg up? Misi and Jenkins were better with 9 tackles, 2 assists and 7 tackles 4 assists respectively.

Ndamukong Suh? How many snaps did he play? I saw him in there an awful lot, but I don’t have an official snap count, but 1 tackle, 1 assist. He’s not Tim Bowens trying to eat up 2 blockers, he’s a penetrating beast that eats RB’s in the backfield, and drags down QB’s by their locks, but not Sunday. I think Suh was spectating along Sheppard, or maybe he’s a big fan of Jordan Phillips, and wants to see more of him.

OK, enough of the bad, let’s take a look at some of the good!

Jarvis Landry is the man, and I couldn’t have been more wrong with my criticism of selecting him in the 2nd RD. He’s my favorite player on the Dolphins, and if I were to buy a jersey (I’m NOT!!!), it would be his. He is a pleasure to watch every week, and I’m more impressed each time I see him play.

Reshad Jones was everywhere, and although he didn’t get an INT or a sack, he was making tackles all over the field, and yes they were tackles the LB’s SHOULD have made.

Brice McCain got his first INT in Miami, and although I had hoped Jamar Taylor would start, and maybe he will down the line, McCain played well enough. Grimes also got us an INT, and that’s what we expect from him, and he came through. We didn’t killed through the air, especially considering the lack of pass rush.

Jordan Cameron can make catches down the field. The last time we had a guy like him (NO, it wasn’t Charles Clay), was probably David Martin. If he can stay healthy, and he did take a couple of hard shots last week, he can be a good guy for Tanny to have. What a great diving catch he made!
Millertime looked good when we finally decided to actually give him the ball. 13 carries, 53 yards, but why we continue to not give him carries, i’ll never understand it. We could have 20 different OC’s, and MillerTime will STILL get 15 max carries a game. Baffling!

Did I mention that Landry is the man? Great job receiving, and his PR won us the game last week. When all else fails, look to Juice to get it done!

Really surprised to so much of Rishard Matthews. Not that it’s a bad thing, I was just surprised how much we saw Rishard, and how little we featured Greg Jennings and even more so, Kenny Stills.

Go Hot Dog! Franks didn’t miss, nailing his only FG attempt!

Darr averaged 43.5 yards per kick, and left one inside the 20, with a long of 63. Good job!

LaMike is NOT LaBron. Good Luck LaMike!

Fede looked good in the D-line rotation, playing more than expected with Vernon injured.

The O-line, I’m not going to kill them, but they weren’t great. They’re going to need to be a whole lot better when we face better defensive fronts than the Washington Redskins, that’s for sure. Face them we will too, because we have 2 games against the Bills, 2 against the Jets, 2 against the Patriots (Not that the Pats front 7 is so great, but they usually give us fits), 1 against the Texans, and 1 against the Ravens (losing Suggs hurts them, we’ll see how Za’Darius Smith fares). 3 sacks from the Deadskins = a lot more from most of the other teams I just named.

I really want to see our defense look scary to their opponents. They looked scary to me, and in not in a good way, but I want the Jaguars to be talking on the sidelines like “How can we stop those guys, they’re relentless?” I want them shaking their heads in disbelief as the sacks pile up, as well as the turnovers. I want our defense to be imposing!

I want our QB to look like an ALL-Pro, not an also ran. He can be better, he has to climb to that level. Not that he was bad last week, he wasn’t, he just wasn’t great either. Do it!

I want the real Ndamukong Suh led defense to take the field, and I want to see Cam Wake and Vernon reap the benefits of having Suh on the line.

I want us to be DEVASTATING! Do it!

GO DOLPHINS!!!

    Wow bad time out

  9. Rockphin says:

Wow, Kubiak getting fancy on 4th & 1 after calling a time out that erased the first down. That is not going to go over well in Co if they lose this game.

  10. Ken says:

Speaking of shit storms this game is something of a shitfest. Turnovers, penalties, bad offense and dumb 4th down decisions.

  11. Rockphin says:

  32. Ken says:

This reminds me of Dan’s final year when Jimmy Johnson decided to change the offense and take Dan’s audibles. You are trying to make these QBs run a system that is not designed for their talents. It’s stupid.

MIKE E (IF you’re still up); I DID a little research and found that Super Bowl X in January of ’77 was the last game played in the historic Orange Bowl with polyturf. The turf was replaced by natural grass in time for the 1977 regular season.

  39. olddolphan says:

YES, Peyton looks washed up tonight. But don’t forget he’s gotten Denver to the playoffs every season in Denver, including once to the Super Bowl. He’s truly one of the all time greats, both ON and OFF the field.

  40. manitobafinfan says:

Payton doing his own Hulk impersonation. Me angry me throw ball hard.

  41. ocalahowie says:

Peyton Manning under Kubiack reminds me of Marino in the Jimmy Johnson era
Elway must be saying WTF did I do

  42. son of a son of a shula says:

It’s too early in the year to make any judgements despite how rough it looks. That goes for Peyton and a lot of other players and teams. Except the Bucs and Browns, they’re already done, lol.

  55. ocalahowie says:

I missed all that as I dont have the TV on in here
Peyton must have sad hell with this I’m doing it my way. Whats he going to do, fire me

What’s the matter with my new dental floss?

  63. manitobafinfan says:

    Thats my kicker woot woot

  64. steveccnv says:

Can we get that kicker from Den, the MFer is on fire from over 50, last week his 52+ yrd FGs were as high as the old extra pts. going through the uprights.

    • manitobafinfan says:

Tonight more impressive. He aint kicking at Mile High

      • steveccnv says:

I used to live in Tahoe where the base elevation was 6200, and I never felt like the golf ball traveled any further, so I’m not so sure playing at mile high is that much of an advantage. In Reno at the Univ. of NV Reno games I didn’t notice a big diff., but that was only 4500.

    • son of a son of a shula says:

I like Franks deep kickoffs we were like the only team in the league last year that actually had to cover kicks

      • steveccnv says:

That’s why he’s on the team for sure, and why I wanted him, I even said, if his FG% wasn’t as good as Sturgis’ I didn’t care (until of course he misses one).

  65. manitobafinfan says:

Son i have to use converters as well. I work mostly in miles and pounds but half the info i am given is in metric

    • son of a son of a shula says:

Btw is Canuck a derogatory term nowadays?

      • manitobafinfan says:

Lol. I have never really understood it and have always hated the hockey team So derogatory? Dunno sounds really stupid ?? Yup

      • son of a son of a shula says:

Alright I’ll continue saying it behind your back so I won’t offend you, lol

      • steveccnv says:

Yes of course it is Son:
in American English is a pejorative meaning one who is stupid or foolish; or an obnoxious, contemptible or detestable person. The word entered English from Yiddish (שמאָק, shmok), where it has similar pejorative meanings, but its original meaning in Yiddish is penis.

    • manitobafinfan says:

Lmao. I am not very easily offended. I just think the word itself sounds dumb.

  66. manitobafinfan says:

This so much more user friendly than the live chat i could not get into sunday 😐

  67. manitobafinfan says:

I do like the ifea of auto refresh though

  68. son of a son of a shula says:

Hey Steve is that your Canuck or do you have a banana in you’re pocket?

  69. steveccnv says:

    Come on Donkies!

  70. manitobafinfan says:

So Son likes a deep Frank. Weird

  71. manitobafinfan says:

    Shoulda been picked

  72. steveccnv says:

Looking for a Denver sweep, don’t want 2 11-5 teams in the AFC West, would rather have a 12-4 and 10-6.

  73. steveccnv says:

Hopkins on Matthew Berry’s Week 2 ‘hate’ list

DeAndre Hopkins had the second-most fantasy points in Week 1, but he’s outside Matthew Berry’s top-10 WRs this week because the Panthers “have held their opponents’ top overall pass-catcher to fewer than 60 yards in eight straight games.”

    ————————
Carolina sucks, but I hope they beat SD, it may help us later.

  74. manitobafinfan says:

    Thought goota was a cheese

  75. manitobafinfan says:

We do always seem to end up on wrong side of tie break with SD for some reason

  76. steveccnv says:

Peyton is done, they’ll only go as far as their D takes them. They may not even make the playoffs.

  77. manitobafinfan says:

    Kelce is a beast

  78. steveccnv says:

    A peyton pick-six coming soon.

  79. manitobafinfan says:

That was close to one there

  80. steveccnv says:

Come on gimpy throw the chicken parm to the endzone.

  81. manitobafinfan says:

    Phantom flag

  82. manitobafinfan says:

    Losing feeling in my neck

  83. steveccnv says:

I see KC called a Philbin, err a timeout, on D

  84. manitobafinfan says:

Wow. Turned into a good game. 50 yder by McManus or a Charles TD.

  85. manitobafinfan says:

    Lol on To

  86. manitobafinfan says:

    Omg.

  87. manitobafinfan says:

kelse taking way too long to get to LOS

  88. manitobafinfan says:

    Bring on Sunday. Night

  89. steveccnv says:

The game totally changed after the D T.O. by KC, are you watching this Philbin?

  90. son of a son of a shula says:

So based on what we learned tonight it would be VERY offensive to call Charles a retard for fumbling.
