    tim,

i dont think name calling is a personal attack. and i said i hadnt seen it. if you did so be it. the only insults i see are about his coaching ability. but bottom line is i agree, there is no need for it to be personal, just about his ability as a professional

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

No about coaches and players not bloggers. Challenging a guy’s ability is one thing, name calling is not my thing. I can’t defend this coaching staff. I don’t think they’ve done a good job nor have a seen what looks like a really talented team. I see players being beaten mentally and physically and it’s early in the year before injuries start setting in. The entire team from top to bottom isn’t performing well.

    • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

maybe he doesn’t like us calling him blowbin. But he only blows at his job.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

That and other things are said. I think Joe is a good guy so calling him names because he doesn’t appear to have his team ready doesn’t do anyone any good. We’re not a good TEAM.

I still ask all of you to reevaluate the roster and tell me what have many of the young players on the roster ever accomplished? Some vets for that matter. This team has no one to look too because this team hasn’t accomplished anything. Really talented based on what? 5th round corners and UDFA LBs and other somewhat highly picked players doing what? Where are the plays?

  2. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

i see it like this about tanny. yeah he has his weaknesses. he cant hit the deep pass or the fade. but if he could. if he could hit the fade, then yesterday they would have gotten embarrassed by the bills to the tune of 41-21

    tim,
come on dude. None of us think philbin is a bad guy. We mostly think he’s bad at his job. And anything we say about him has to do with his job. Not him personally. And we’re not saying anything to his face.

Stop taking all of insults about the way philbin coaches so personally 😉

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

It’s not personal for me, I just find it disrespectful to others. It’s just not my thing man. Yeah I’ve engaged in some name calling to opponents in a fun trash talking manner, but to do it to your own in times of trouble doesn’t help in anyway. It just fuels the negative energy. So carry on. That’s pretty much how I found it…they nagged me enough. As a child who grew up in the height of the cold war/Narco trafficking era, Pablo Escobar and the Medellin Cartel always intrigued me. It doesn’t sugar coat anything, and based on the historical pictures/video of him, the actor they got to play him is an amazing actor and looks exactly like him. It’s “inspired by” type of historical drama, though they openly admit some of the facts have been changed for dramatic purposes. Still, mostly true to history as I recall it.

  27. Randy's avatar Randy says:

If it always comes back to the OL needing to do better and they’re the ones holding Tanny back, then why does the QB get the huge contract? Sounds like it’s really all about the OL! Maybe they should all be making $20M a year. If you’re getting paid like you’re the top dog….play like it….goes with the territory. There’s poor OL play all around the league. Be smart as a QB and be ready for it….don’t look like you’re clueless and just stand there. Deal with it.

This league has bent over backwards to make it a QB-centric and VERY favorable system for the QB/passing game. A one-eyed, wooden-legged pirate could put up numbers in this league now. It’s about doing it when it matters and winning the damn game. Maybe Lazor’s offense is the way it is BECAUSE he’s designed it around a limited QB who can only do certain things well. Do people actually believe Lazor would do anything BUT design a gameplay around Tannehill’s skills? Can he simply never expect him to throw a fade pass or a deep ball ever again? How ridiculous is that?

When was the last time we saw Tanny go out and win a game for us? Yeah…I’ll give you some time to think back…..

  28. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Randy, Bill Polian recently said the new CBA has made it very difficult to develop OL because of the lack of pads practices. It’s also the college game. They come from systems that get the ball out in 1-2 seconds and just rinse and repeat all day. In the NFL you have to hang in there a little longer and deliver the ball. When the pass pro isn’t there they will struggle.

All you needed to do was watch how INDY’s OL made Luck look pedestrian his first two weeks.

  29. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

BTW, I found the title of that movie about the kid with tourette’s syndrome.
    “The Road Within”

Lenny Kravitz daughter Zoe is a lead character, so is Robert Patrick, the guy that played in Terminator 2….lots of good acting, especially the kid playing the tourette character….that must be hard to do for a full 1hr 40min movie.
Was a good movie, one you and the wives will like together….lol

  30. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Randy

Our O-line is well paid, mostly because we gave Albert a big contract, and Pouncey. The rest are making pedestrian money. Branden Albert has a $10.7 cap hit this season, and Pouncey a $7M cap hit. That’s a lot of money in 2 players. If you’re being honest, you know the O-line has sucked, and if it was better, Tannehill would be playing better. We can’t run the football for shit, and it’s so bad, we just don’t even bother to try anymore.

    • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

I bet if we had the pats o line right now they would suck worse than ours. And I bet if the pats had our oline they’d be world beaters.

  31. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Tim,
I’ve been avoiding most things football for the season so far, so I missed Polian’s thoughts. I think it went downhill when they changed how they practice too and have said so. These guys can’t even come close to simulating game situations in practice anymore because they can’t touch one another. But, that’s how players wanted it.

Although I think the quick passing is more a product of the type of defensive linemen we have in the league now….very quick and fast…even at 310 pounds. This has made it very difficult on OL…especially interior guys because they haven’t kept up with the changes physically. It’s beginning to though. I think this is why we see pretty poor OL play all over the league.

Luck hasn’t looked good so far this year from what little I’ve heard, but he has made their OL much better since he got there. That OL has been bad for years.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

He got killed the first two weeks. It was tough to watch. It really makes the game shitty when a unit can’t even compete. We just saw that on many levels yesterday. 😦

  32. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Boulder, the Pats have also had a culture and system in place for 15 years. We’re on year 2 Lazor and year 4 RT. We haven’t put it together yet regardless of who’s at fault. I still don’t see enough take it and go plays this year. Where’s the great talent? I’m sure not seeing it.

  33. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

    randy,

you have been watching football for years right? how did montana win 4 sb’s when he didnt play one play on defense. yet you never hear about a single player from the 49ers who won a sb. it is total bullshit. just like the qb getting the big contract. but no one here made those rules. if you really believe the play of the oline is better then the play of tanny there isnt much left to say. all i have heard thru 3 games is how bad the online has been, but if you see i different then so be it.

as far as lazor, or course i dont think he should never try a fade pass. but i am pretty damn sure that if you know it is the weakness of your qb and you call for 3 in a row then yeah, you are a bad coach. and yes, a good coach would game plan around his players weakness.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

“and yes, a good coach would game plan around his players weakness.” Huh? LOL

Just BB/JK, RT would be better in a traditional WCO, IMO. Shotgun is not his strength. He throws well on the run and has good wheels. Use it!

  34. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

As a franchise we’ve paid plenty attention to the OL. It hasn’t been ignored.
    (3) former 1st round picks on the OL, with (2) 3rd rounders & a 4th rounder & John Benton as the guru OL coach…..yet they suck as an OL….so it points to the schemes/play calling they’re asked to play…IMO.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

For me it’s a little of both. The OL is not cohesive due to little playing time together as currently structured and relying on young players still developing. Albert being hampered is also huge. We’re not at our best in personnel or timing.

  35. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    MikeE,
I can evaluate Tanny’s performance without resorting to blaming his teammates. I see him miss open throws and not even see open guys, make bad decisions, hold the ball too long, take unnecessary sacks, not throw guys open which might lead to more YAC, stand like a statue in the pocket….and the things happen regardless of the protection. All of this stuff happens regardless of how the OL performs.

I’v said repeatedly that our OL has not played well, but very seldom(up until this year) do I see someone say that Tanny makes them look worse than they are with his ineptitude. The dude accounts for 10-12 sacks a year himself. I see it weekly.

    • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

I’ve also seen him also do all the things well at times, of the things you say he’s not doing well.
Hard to be consistent when the team around you is so inconsistent and bad plays are called before he even gets a chance to do the right thing.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

He was sacked twice yesterday on 49 attempts. He was pressured a ton. Also our routes seem to clog the field and I don’t get it.

  36. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

‘The dude accounts for 10-12 sacks a year himself. I see it weekly.’

lol, then i am sure every other qb in the league will beat a path down to miami to play behind an oline that gives up 36-38 sacks a year.

as mike said about the coaching the same goes for tanny. probably little more then half the league would take tanny in a heartbeat, not a single team would take the o line as a whole.

  37. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    ffr
So, I have to compare Tanny’s level of play to the OL’s? Can’t they both be responsible for this shit fest? The QB has the ball in his hands every play. He’s the only guy on the team who has a tangible affect on where that ball goes, when and how every single play. The OL don’t get to decide. So, yes, I do believe the QB has a bigger impact on the game than the OL does…and even more so now than when the 49ers were winning SBs. It’s a QB-driven league now more than ever.

And, AGAIN, I’ve said multiple times that I do no think the OL has played great, but that doesn’t mean I think everything that goes wrong in the passing game is their fault. I’m not sure why everyone keeps acting like I never rip the OL.

  38. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

    randy

and most of us get picking between tanny and the o line is like picking between a hot chick that smells horrible and a ugly chick that smells great. either way you arent gonna be happy

  39. Randy's avatar Randy says:

Sorry, just in case folks think so, I am not a fan of any players on this team right now. It’s not just Tanny. I’ve talked enough QB for now….Omar told me to stop like him. Lol

Agreed, I kept shaking my head all day as I watched the game too. Very baffling plays, sequence of plays, design of plays…eveyone seems lost and or other defenses seem to know how to defend us to a tee!

wwwooooaaaa, i didnt think any body was attacking. i am of the impression today has been more spent as to who is responsible for the shit fest the most. some think the oline more and some think tanny. i for one think the oline. i dont even think miller has 100yards thru 3 games, that has nothing to do with tanny.

and actually, if i am blaming any part of this team it is the defense and no one on offense for the shit fest so far

suh is not the problem. He was all over the field disrupting things and he wasdoubled and triple teamed most of the game. I saw one play where he was doubled teamed and he made a tackle near the strongside sideline. The guy beat the LB’s there.

GD, is that’s what’s happening, coaches not putting guys is the right position to do well? Is that it? When do the players become responsible, ever?

  73. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

    Jestssuck,
Suh was way more disruptive in Detroit and teams schemed to dbl & triple him there too. But obviously the Lions DC schemed as good or better than the opposing Offenses, and obviously better than what we do here in miami.

    • jetsssuck's avatar jetsssuck says:

look up his career tackles per season. Guy can’t get more disruptive than he’s been. Watch some replays of games and you will see him taking 2-3 steps before our other DL gets off 1st step.Guy is a monster

  74. jetsssuck's avatar jetsssuck says:

brady is getting the ball out of his hand quickest in nfl history at 2.09 seconds.

  75. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

    Tim,
I’m not totally absolving the players Tim, but c’mon….how can you do well on either side of the ball when you got CB’s playing 7 yards off the receivers, poor calls on blitzes, or constantly in shotgun on 1st down, no effort to run the ball and constantly and calling dump offs on 3rd and long all the time???
Are the players supposed to be so good that they can make anything work?

    • jetsssuck's avatar jetsssuck says:

lets not forget Tanny is working with new receivers. and OL isn’t providing a lot of time considering they haven’t worked together all training camp or season

      • herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

I don’t buy that. It’s not like they’ve never been a receiver before. THAT would be a new receiver. The whole team has had enough time to look better than this.

      • jetsssuck's avatar jetsssuck says:

Timing…Hitting a receiver in stride—-This takes time with practice and OL has to create time to allow tanny for long developing plays. The dink and dunk passes is because of OL isn’t able to give him enough time on longer developing plays. Even the cadence is affected without enough familiarity with group. I rewatched the receivers and they were off a count getting started on passing plays.Design or slow starting plays?

    • Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

Brice McCain should be benched this week and Taylor should start. McCain has been getting torched all season. I remember one play (I think he was on Harvin) and it was something like 3rd and 8 and he was playing 11 yards back.

      • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Yep, and I saw him playing way back waiting on the offense to come to him…WTF kinda soft coverages/zone crap is that.

  76. Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

Something that is bothering me is the play of Rishard Matthews. He is having a great season, slightly behind Juice. Why the fuck didn’t our coaches see this coming? Instead of shipping off a 3rd rounder for Stills, who is almost a ghost on this team, we could have penciled him into the lineup. Jennings has been a disappointment thusfar, and we could have used the money or pick on an OL or a LB. This reminds me of the DE situation a few years ago when we wasted a pick on Dion Fuckface Jordan, when we had someone more than competent in OV.
