Okay my friends it is time for us together around the aluminum pole. It is time for feats of strength and the airing of grievances.

    ** to gather not together

LMAO @ Shamiel “Schlemazel”, and Dion Fuckface never gets old! Perfect choice with the babe of the week this week!

I am probably going to be alone on this, but I never had the hots for Princess Leia(sp?).
    Well, I suppose it’s possible Herd didn’t, either…
Thanks for the post Mike E!

I don’t think I ever gave Carrie Fisher a look, until that scene. I thought she looked pretty hot in that slave outfit.

I like Ryan Tannehill. Good kid, hard worker. Smart! But he doesn’t have IT and I doubt he’ll ever get it. Find a plan B & stop excusing it

    Bill Bixby
    ‏@TheBillBixby
@OmarKelly he is the other side of the Tim Tebow coin. He got the physical attributes just not the “winner” attribute.

  7. New Age's avatar New Age says:

    Mike E,

Good stuff. I hope some of those GONEs you have stay but we are starting over.

  8. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

    Merry Christmas everyone!

I am sitting here BY MYSELF in my office. I just went through all my e-mails again and do not see where the bosses said the office is closed today……..WHERE THE FUCK IS EVERYONE? I am giving it until 10am and if I am still the only one here I am leaving! WTF???

  9. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Merry Christmas Rock, and to everyone else as well!

  10. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I’ll bet ya if Misi is retained he’ll be a starting LB again. He’s not going to be a backup at $4.8M per. I say add one really good LB to Misi and Jenkins and we’ll be pretty good at the position. If we go to a 3-4 then move both guys inside.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

If we do 3-4, I think Misi is a pretty good fit that way.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Misi would be a good fit as 3-4 ILB who takes on blocks freeing up Jenkins to flow to the ball. We would need OLBs though. McCain might be one of them but that’s still a question.

  11. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

New Age, we’ll make some additions and subtractions but personnel wise we’re not starting over. The main change is going to be the coaching staff.

  12. bat's avatar bat says:

I hate to agree with Twitterella, but he’s right about Tannehill. Something is missing, after four years, he still struggles with the mental aspects of the position and doesn’t ever display good QB instincts. Has all the tools to be a very good QB, but he just isn’t. He never will be…IMO … Ooops ..Almost forgot the disclaimer … The rest of the team, coaching staff, front office and ownership sucks too

  13. bat's avatar bat says:

Mike … You’re much too kind in your assessment of the roster. Other than Jones, Landry and Parker, and maybe Ajayi, they all should be gone. Preferably buried under a giant landfill somewhere with the other foul garbage.

  14. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Bat

I’m not willing to make that determination until we have a proper coaching staff. The devil knows you’ve killed every coach we’ve had here in the last 4 years, so just give him a chance with a good coach, and see what he does.

  15. bat's avatar bat says:

Tim ..Oh yes, poor Tanny ..The curse of being the only QB to ever operate behind a less than stellar o-line … The horror ….lol

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Less than stellar is being kind. How about awful.

Have we ever had Albert and James on the field for more than a handful of games and what guard played well in pass pro this year?

Ask Andrew Luck who supposedly has IT, what it’s like to play behind a bad OL. Just give him some time to answer as his lacerated kidney, broken ribs and fucked up shoulder might cause him some discomfort when talking. 😉

  16. bat's avatar bat says:

Mike .. No coach is going to give him instincts that are clearly not present. After four years, he still has limited field vision and the pocket awareness of someone encased in cement. I just don’t see anything so special about him that we can’t move on ..This team is three years away from being competitive anyway …IMO

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Bat, forgive the reply, or don’t whatever, If we are three years away from being competitive, that means we are 6 years from being competitive, which means we will never be competitive….After 3 years you blow it up again…

  17. bat's avatar bat says:

Rock … Exactly right .. Such is the burden of the Dolphin fan …

  18. bat's avatar bat says:

Tim … Why do the Tannehill supporters always bring up other QB’s in order to somehow absolve him of blame for his inadequacies? … Who gives a rats ass about Andrew Luck?

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

It shows you how a team matters. Forget Ryan Tannehill for a second and ask yourself do we have a good OL and defense along with a coaching staff committed to running the ball that is actually effective when we do it? I answered NO to all of the above. What say you?

  19. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

It’s NEVER just been the horrible O-line, which really is awful. It’s the coaching, the hideous and illogical play calling too. I don’t care what anyone says, I need to see for myself what he can do with some good coaches in place, and an appropriate game plan and good play calling.

Bad idea to align yourself with Twitterella in any case. lol

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

You mean the play calling that after an 8 yard run on 1st down under center immediately goes to shotgun on 2nd and 2?

We’ve all seen RT play well, we know he can do it. I can’t say that about our OL and currently our defense but that’s not important.

Fans have been ragging on the coaching, defense and OL the past few years but when it comes to RT it’s as if none of that matters. He must defy all odds and lead this band of misfits. LOL

  20. bat's avatar bat says:

Rock ..LOL… Thanks bro .. Merry Christmas to you!

  21. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I was so looking forward to Tannehill “breaking out” this year after three years of “improving stats” and this being his second year in Lazor’s offense that now I am 180 deg in my feelings about him. Get someone to replace him. He sucks. The whole team sucks from Ownership down to the guy who mows the lawn. Blow it all up. At this point I think OD and Gigi are too kind and generous about the team.

    The Owners suck
    the front office sucks
    The coaches suck
    The players suck
    The stadium sucks
    The uniforms suck
    The logo sucks
    The team colors suck
    The parking lot sucks
    The concession stands suck
there is nothing good about this team and no hope for the future.

  22. BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

Nice job mike. I think you should do the same for the FO and the coaches 🙂

  23. herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

I’m working half a day today as well. Seems weird, it’s so warm for December. I wore flip flops to work today.

  24. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Bat

No coach is going to give Ryan instincts as you say, but he’s still not above learning the game. I think the right coach can help him immeasurably.

  25. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

LOL Boulder – THAT goes without saying. I’ve said it here many times, When it comes to the FO and coaches . . . .

    FIRE

  26. bat's avatar bat says:

“We’ve all seen RT play well”

Tim …We’ve NEVER seen him play well with any consistency at all. We’ve NEVER seen him play well in crunch time in a game that matters. … Also, interesting to see you blaming the play calling. I believe I remember you insisting that it was all about execution when I used to criticize play calls in the past. I guess the same standards don’t apply to Tannehill …lol

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Bat, it’s hard to execute nonsense play calling in a system that makes no sense. I’ve never liked this offense and it’s become even more absurd than I could have ever imagined. You can use that for your argument, but you’re just trying to win the debate despite the obvious. 😉

  27. bat's avatar bat says:

Mike … It is with no pleasure that I stand with Twitterella on this subject, but I see what I see. Tannehill is what he is and no amount of misplaced hope will change that. I was never a Tanny basher before this season, but regression at this point in his career is unacceptable ..IMO

  28. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Sorry but this guy is not the problem.
    http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/14876/ryan-tannehill

However, this group is a problem. 30th overall, 27th against the pass, 29th against the run and 26th in PA. Nothing to see here.
    http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/team/_/stat/total/sort/netYardsPerGame/position/defense

But at least we have stellar coaching. 😉

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I especcially like his defensive stats. 10 total tackles…….(which means he tackled the DB 10 times out of the 53 ints he has thrown. that is near 20% of the time!

  29. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I say Dump Tannehill with the rest of the trash. Hell Lauren isn’t even that hot. She is too skinny and has a blade face.

  30. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Bat

Just curious if you feel the same way about Andrew Luck, who had a terrible year. I’ll await your answer.

  31. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Rock

It’s not about Andrew Luck. I couldn’t give a rats ass whether he plays, or plays well again. I just want to see the logic in his statement that Tannehill’s regression makes him hopeless.

  32. bat's avatar bat says:

Mike … As Rock kindly pointed out, I don’t care about any other QB’s. Tannehill is our problem …Not Luck or any other under performing QB that is constantly brought up to deflect Tanny criticism.

  33. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Bat

Please, can we carry on this conversation like an adult? You say Tannehill regressed and now he is hopeless. Does the same stand true for Andrew Luck? Don’t deflect the question, just answer it.

  34. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

    Tim Knight says:
    December 24, 2015 at 9:42 am

Lame! He’s not a high turnover QB but let’s make stuff up to make our case.

76 turnovers vs 85 TDs…no he is not a high turnover QB at all…..

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

But I understand, it’s the offensive line that causes him to throw 53 ints and fumble 23 times. Maybe it’s the defense’s fault. They just can’t keep our offense off the field……

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

23 fumbles does not equal turnovers. They weren’t all lost. Many of those fumbles were caused by him being assaulted in the pocket and many were recovered and some by him. You also forgot his 5 rushing TDs. By the way a guy who touches the ball thousands of times is bound to lose the ball here and there.

  35. bat's avatar bat says:

Mike … Luck has a history of success at a level that Tanny has never approached, and Luck has a legitimate injury excuse, so no I would not put him in the same category as Tannehill.

  36. bat's avatar bat says:

Rock … Tannehill is an elite QB only held back by the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. As Curly would say “He’s a victim of soicumstance”

  37. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Bat

Thank you. It’s definitely true that Luck has shown the ability to win big games, and to bring his team back late in games, no question. On the other hand, Tannehill has also played better than he has this season, although not much better, but in a year when so many things went wrong, (Fired the HC after 4 games, fired the OC a little later, the defense was awful, along with the O-line), I feel Tannehill deserves another chance. I think the fact that he hasn’t been seriously injured is testament to his toughness, because he’s been drilled a lot this year. I question Tannehill’s ability to play well during crunch time, he hasn’t done it. I do think he’s capable, with proper teaching. We’ll see.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

He has done it in crunch time only to have the defense give it right back on many occasions. That seems to be forgotten. The Giants game is the perfect example. The same in the Denver game last year.

Why can’t we all just admit this team doesn’t play complimentary football? Did I say TEAM? Oh good, yes I did.

  38. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I have historically been one of the biggest defenders of trash on this board. Hell I’m one of the founding members of the Patience Brigade. Well my patience is at an end. My eyes are open and I can see that this team sucks ass and has for more than a decade. All indications point to it continuing to suck for the next decade.

  39. son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

If you’re a construction worker you draw dicks in port o lets – it’s what you do

  40. bat's avatar bat says:

Mike … We’re stuck with him for next year, so I hope your analysis trumps mine. Until then, my opinions will be guided by my disappointment and frustration with him …lol

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Put him in a real offense with a decent OL and watch him flourish. If that happens and he still struggles I will concede.

  41. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I do have some hope for this team, well sort of, I HOPE that when they drop the A-bomb on the Davie facility that the radioactive fall out all gets blown east and out to sea…..

  42. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Why can’t we all just admit this team doesn’t play complimentary football? Did I say TEAM? Oh good, yes I did.

Tim, I think we can ALL admit that this team doesn’t play complimentary football. That is not even a question. Why can’t you admit that Tannehill is PART OF THE PROBLEM? He folds in the most critical of situations. How many drives have he ended with an inaccurate pass? How many sacks has he taken to end a drive when another QB would have scrambled to find throwing room and made the clutch play? He is a big part of the issues on Offense.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

He has had his bad moments but you’re leaving a lot out like those jail breaks with 2-3 defenders wrapping him up within 2 seconds of the snap. Don’t forget those, there are a lot of them.

  43. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

LOL Rock – You’ve drifted to the dark side. It’s not so bad there, you have Bat as company. He’s extremely entertaining.

  44. bat's avatar bat says:

‘He is a big part of the issues on Offense.”

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a winner!

  45. bat's avatar bat says:

Mike … LOL ..Thank you for the recommendation. You’ll be entitled to a commission should Rock fully commit to our cause …

  46. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

LOL Bat – So what are your plans for Christmas? Is Christmas dinner at your house, or the in-laws?

  47. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

RT has a total of 37 fumbles passing and rushing and has lost 14 – he recovered 12 of them himself. Just remember he’s touched the ball over 3,600 times. Another interesting stat is we’ve rushed the ball over 400 times in a season only once during his time as QB – 440 times his rookie year. We have averaged 23.8 rushing attempts during RT’s career and 173 were by him. That takes rushes by others down to 21 times per game. Great balance to go with his 35 pass attempts per game. SMH

  48. bat's avatar bat says:

Mike … Christmas Eve at my parents for a traditional Italian seafood and pasta feast … Christmas day we stay home so I can play with my new toys …lol

  49. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I will be spending Christmas alone…I plan on being shitty drunk by 10am and passed out by 1pm. I bought myself some Christmas presents (the only ones I will get this year), but decided against wrapping them.

  50. bat's avatar bat says:

Rock … That blows … If you can make it to FL, you’re welcome to join us . .. I think we have an extra black robe that will fit you …lol

  51. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Rock, I’m sorry about that brother. Merry Christmas! I wish you better times sooner than later. Life can be cruel at times.

  52. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

my parents are tooling around the US in their motor home. (i’m not even sure where they are this week) my sister has her family and lives out in Colorado. (I called last month fishing for an invite but didn’t get one) and my brother is on a job in Seattle this month.

Most of my “friends” were “our friends” after 15 years of marriage. “our friends” decided they like here better. (no surprise there, I like her better too. I’m a miserable prick)

  53. bat's avatar bat says:

OK … Mrs. Bat is encouraging me to go to the bakery before all the good stuff is gone … If I don’t get back here ..Merry Christmas to All!!

  54. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Rock

I wish you the best man. I hope the holidays bring you better times and happiness.

  55. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Later Bat – Enjoy!

  56. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The moral of my support for Tannehill is we’ve done him no favors during his career. Sub par OL play and no commitment to the running game. If you feel those are just excuses, so be it, I don’t view it that way. Take Ryan the person out of it and put it on any QB, I’d have the same view.

What’s all the hullabaloo about Marino never having a running game and defense? 😉

  57. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I the bright side, I got a $10,000.00 raise this week and my bosses are paying for me to go on an all expense paid vacation (not to count against my vacation time) for a week in January. I’m going on a Caribbean Cruise January 24th – 31st. (all expenses except my liquor bill, they had to qualify. LOL)

  58. Ken's avatar Ken says:

    Rock:
A long distance merry Christmas to you. You are welcome at my dinner table for any holiday. I know Connecticut is a long way from you but if you are ever up this way please let me know.

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Thanks Ken! I appreciate it! I’m in a very sad part of my life right now where my closest friends are people I have never met or only met once or twice in person in my life.

  59. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!

I saw Star Wars. Still not sure how I feel about it. I either loved it, thought it was pretty good, was ok with it, or hated it. I’m still digesting it and may have to see it again to understand how I feel about it. Needless to say, at this point I’m conflicted, lol.

I also watched Tarentino’s new film, The Hateful 8, last night. Surprisingly disappointing. I love Tarentino movies. This one just wasn’t great IMO.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

My son (20 YO) Loved Star Wars, and we’re going to see it tomorrow, and he’s really excited to see it again, FWIW. I’m bummed to hear about the Tarantino movie! I’m a huge fan, so much so that I doubt I’ll be disappointed. 🙂

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

He’s my favorite film maker, and I’ve loved every one of his movies…until this one. It’s not horrible, and it has the usual Tarentino stuff, but it just didn’t do it for me.

  60. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Most of my problem is I DON’T FUCKING LIKE PEOPLE! PEOPLE SUCK! LOL

It’s hard to make new friends as an adult. When we were back in school it was much easier. Now I see all the same people at work (who I don’t really like all that much.) and don’t really ever meet anyone new. It’s a tough spot, but life goes on.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Rock – It’s all about tolerance man. As I’ve gotten older I’ve learned that. Even the best people are annoying (myself included, not best, but annoying), so you have to overlook certain things to keep things cool.

  61. Ken's avatar Ken says:

I am tired of the Tannehill debate. I have seen enough from him and I consider myself a decent judge of QB talent. I think he is going to be fine. I think much of the criticism is frustration and the fact the position gets a heightened sense of attention and criticism. When you breakdown his play I think it is okay and the arrow still points up. Yes he has had some bad moments and bad games. Some of that is on the team and some that is on him but there has been nothing in his play that says to me we should give up on him at this point like so many want to do.

  62. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

“I either loved it, thought it was pretty good, was ok with it, or hated it”

ROFLMAO! Well that covers the gambit. I am going to go see it this weekend. I hated Jar Jar Binks and thought the character ruined the second set of movies. I don’t have high hopes for the new film. (but I don’t have high hopes for much now-adays.)

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I also didn’t care much for the Anikan (Sp?) Character.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Jar Jar was ridiculous but the casting of Anikin, both young, and teen destroyed the movies IMO. You could pretty much point at any other child actor EVER, and have a better actor than the kid in Phantom Menace. And Hayden Christensen was just as bad.

Loved Liam Neeson as Qui gon. He was the perfect Jedi IMO.

  63. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

OK Kong, duly noted. I guess everyone has a clunker now and again.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Just my opinion bro. It’s got great dialogue (of course), and all the things you expect from Tarentino. You might love it. I just thought it dragged and needed a change of scenery. (almost the whole movie takes place in one room)

FWIW, I wasn’t too keen on Inglorious Basterds the first time I watched it (crazy of me), and now it’s one of my favorites.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

He has not been bad. The issue most of you have is he didn’t carry us out of this mess of a season. It was a bad year for the team.

  64. Ken's avatar Ken says:

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Lol, nothing wrong with drinking those.
Heck, my wife can drink me under the table any day of the week, and I order fufu drinks all the time. Pina colada is one of my favorites.

Not to mention, one of the greatest characters of all time drinks white russians, Jeffrey Lebowski.

      • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Rob’s not here sooooooooo…. You wife can drink me under the table any day of the week too if that is ok with you…..

HA! Just kidding I’m not trying to offend you. LOL

None taken, bro. I subscribe to the theory, that everything can be joked about.

  66. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

As you guys can tell, I am having a VERY productive day at work today. (not alone anymore One of the folks from accounting showed up about an hour ago and came into my office asking “WTF?” My reply was soo good of you to be here on time. LOL

  69. D's avatar D says:

    Tanny – Worrisome, bounce back?
Moore – Expensive placeholder, cap savings.
Logan Thomas – New TE, or year 3 on a PS.
Miller – Only FA worth keeping, priority resign.
Jay Ajayi – Lots of potential, want to see a bunch of him last 2.
Damien Williams – Better options, replaceable.
Stills – Potential, held back by QB/Scheme.
    Landry – Superstar.
    Parker – Star potential.
    Jennings – Old man winter.
Matthews – Good, but not worth a FA resign.
Matt Hazel – Potential, needs to see the field last two games.
Cameron – Solid, held back by QB/Scheme.
Dion Sims – Knock on noggin may have ruined him.
    Jake Stoneburner – depth.
Albert – Need a healthier equivalent replacement.
Dallas Thomas – Need a position upgrade.
    Pouncey – Our best OLman.
Turner – as bad or worse than Thomas, need upgrade.
Fox – Horrible, could be replaced by any teams number 4 OT.
James – Potential anchor for our OL.
    John – Who?
Douglas – Potential starter with lots of off-season work.
    Shelby – Perfect backup.
    Coples – See potential.
    Williams – Who?
Suh – 19 Mil? Disruptive, better under new coaches?
    Coleman – Replaceable depth player.
Vernon – Solid, will lose him in FA.
Fede – Solid backup, expected a little more.
Moore – Backup potential, still upgradable.
    Philips – Starter potential.
Mitchell – Solid, but could be upgraded.
Vigil – Decent backup, with a lot of work, starter potential.
    Paysinger – Vet depth.
    Sheppard – Vet depth.
    Johnson – Who?
Jenkins – Our only solid LB.
Hewitt – Decent backup, with a lot of work, starter potential.
Grimes – Father Time caught up, he is slipping, still better than a lot.
Lippett – Potential, believe he is the future at one spot for us.
Brice McCain – Sometimes horrid, sometimes good, we can do better.
Bobby McCain – Future nickle CB.
Taylor – Poop sandwich, but possibly serviceable backup in a new system.
Michael Thomas – Solid backup, good ST contributions.
    Gary- Who?
Jones – Possibly top 5 at his position.
Aikens – Disappointment, we can do better.
Jordan – might can wring something out of his last year, huge fucking disappointment.
Wake – Father time caught up, still better than a lot, but we need better.
    Misi – Vet Depth.
Delmas – can have better vet depth at the position.
    Brandon Williams – Who?
    Robert Thomas –Who?
Thompson – Potential, though we didn’t get to see how much, maybe will see him in last 2.
Mike Hull – Probably deserves another look in camp next year.

I defended Still and Cameron in particular, because i felt those along with saying Turner would eventually get there was just as likely as Thomas getting there, were the more extreme signs of bias in the write-up. Cameron and Still both had several time i saw them open behind the defenses, and either Tanny couldn’t get it to them or he flat out didn’t see it going through his reads. The offensive scheme also held both back as it didn’t open as many of those opportunities for them as they could have had. Maybe with work together, Tanny and they can get on the same page and those start turning into completion and make opinions of all involved better.

Good points but still you’re putting too much on RT. No need to replace Albert. Get him and James healthy and add better depth.

For the most part what you said is we have some talent but need to add some more, cut the dead weight and bring in a coaching staff to get this group going.

This team has been gutted and patched together too often where there is no chemistry. The foundation has to start with the next coaching staff.

    Mike,

Being a big Tarantino fan, have you ever read the theory about all his movies being set in the same universe. It’s pretty cool. There are all sorts of interlocking and connective pieces that run through them all going back to Reservoir Dogs and True Romance. Things like Mr Blonde, Vic Vega in Reservoir Dogs is the brother of Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction.

If i put any less on RT then i am basically giving up on him. My expectations are not outside what should be expected of him by year 4. I have my expectations because i want him to be great not just another JAG, im fair with them, i dont expect light year jumps, but he was worse this year and im not going to overlook it until he shows me next year it can be put behind him.

    • D's avatar D says:

I dont think we need to try to replace Albert as much as be in the position to day 1, if it happens. We need a guy we can expect to start day 1, just in case. Our OL goes to shit every year when Albert goes down, and he goes down 1-2 times a year.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

We can start by putting him a real offense. The 21 Rush/35 Pass ratio he’s been in is not the way to do it. That’s for his career. This year it’s 20/36.

  72. Randy's avatar Randy says:

Luck threw what…40 TDs behind a bad OL last year…not to mention he’s played about 7 games this year. Russell Wilson has been much more productive behind a bad OL and no good receivers. Brady has had another rally good year playing behind an OL made up of anybody they can find.
    ***
So, if you’re gonna do the QB comparison thing, Tannehill doesn’t even come close to comparing favorably.
    ***
Now, cue every other excuse for his crappy performance.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

LOL, SEA and NE play good defense and Brady is a 15 year vet who’s headed to the HOF. Luck is out because of his OL. LOL

  73. Randy's avatar Randy says:

I don’t get the ripping of Cameron. How can we honestly evaluate his performance given he is playing with a QB who can’t throw down the seam and has never been productive with a classic, seam threat TE. Clay was not a classic TE. He caught a lot of short passes. Same for Stills. Bad signing when you have a QB who can’t throw the deep ball consistently.
    ***
Huh, so that’s what it’s like to blame another player for one player’s performance. I like it! Lol

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

How quickly you forget. Clay caught many passes down the seam. Stills is averaging 18.0 YPC and has 10 catches over 20 yards on 23 catches. Matthews was averaging 15.4 before he got hurt with 10 catches over 20 yards and Parker is at 17.4 with 5 over 20 on 17 catches. Keep trying to hide reality. LOL

  74. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Tim,
Again, you’re deflecting. You and mike wanted to do the QB comparison thing. Can’t have it both ways. There are a number of QBs playing better than Tannehill behind OLs that are just as bad or worse than ours. Unless people think our OL Is the worst in the league despite where they are in the standings.

  75. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    D,
Any OL gets worse when you lose your franchise LT. Not to mention we’re also missing uour starting RT. But, who cares, right? They’re still expected to do their job.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Nope, I have pointed that out. I knew the OL would be a work in progress this year then injuries hit and made it worse. But they’re still bad in pass pro regardless of what happened.

  76. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Tim,
So you’re saying Tannehill has had a good year then? Lol

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

No I think he’s been off and frustrated as much as the of team this year. If you looked at his numbers without knowing who he is you would not say bad year. I guess stats don’t count anymore but they sure did when he was a 12 TD/13 INT rookie. 24-17, 27-12 and 22-11 is simply horrid I guess now. LOL

It was a bad year for the entire org. They got it wrong. I was lured in for a chance of a good season too but I was still leery about the overall inexperience and hoped for the best. The worst happened. It surely has not been about one guy and Ryan Tannehill though.

When you’re the 30th ranked defense you’re probably not having a good season. I’ve been accused of being a defender and excuse maker for the defense in the past. But this year because I have been all over them and think they’ve been bad, I get a new designation as a Tanny-defender. Okay! I’ll take him over our defense any day and start anew.

  77. Randy's avatar Randy says:

I don’t even enjoy slamming Tannehill anymore. This sucks.

I don’t even think Cameron is used that way a lot

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Clay ran deep circle routes all the time. Those are 10+ yard routes in open space.

We didn’t utilize our TEs this year because our offensive system is a joke. It really is. We all see it but still want to focus on RT saving us from it. It’s the worst offense since Kippy Brown’s that I’ve seen. Please kill it. LOL

  80. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Cameron had one decent year, otherwise, this year pretty much looks like every other year. Maybe he just had one great season and this is what he is. He’s been targeted like 63 times, and only 30 receptions. I know, I know, Tannehill sucks, and every throw was off target. 🙂

  81. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    Generally
I think lazors offense used the boundaries more than the middle of the field
So I don’t think you have so many seam opportunities

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The boundaries less than 5 yards deep most of the time. SMH

The stats show you what we should have been doing this year but our OCs are numbed by this idiotic system. Run Miller, set up play-action down the field to Stills, Cameron and Parker when available, get the ball to Landry whenever you can and play some defense. Our STs were actually solid all around with a rookie kicker and punter – excellent cap moves. But we did the opposite on offense and defense.

I don’t blame Cameron as much as the system
I do t blame Tanny for Cameron either
I do think there have been bad throws to Cameron though
But they don’t use Cameron like clay catching short passes
And they don’t use the middle of the filed either

I think that is just by design
    It’s not a player issue

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Matthews was catching a lot passes inside when he was hot. We’ve targeted Parker on slants. Landry catches a lot of inside stuff. It’s not that we didn’t run any good routes, It was the approach on offense with formations and down and distance play calls that were baffling. We’d be running the ball down the opponents throat and feel the need to unleash a double reverse. Why? LOL

  84. Randy's avatar Randy says:

Our offense simply has to get better, and it starts up front. We need better players on the OL and for some who are already playing to play better or stay healthy.
    ***
Albert is definitely a concern. When he plays, he’s pretty good, but can they count on him? This is a huge offseason for him to prove he can rehab, get healthy and stay healthy. He probably came back too soon. He has top 5-7 talent. Gotta draft depth one way or another anyway because we have nothing.
    ***
Thomas has been disappointing. He has pretty good plays and then horrible plays…good games and bad games…very inconsistent. His footwork issues continue to hamper his development. Definitely need an upgrade at that position…either in his play or somebody else. It’s frustrating because he really is quite talented athletically and seems to play with effort. I tend to give OL at least 3 years to see what they really are, but he definitely needs to play much better.
    ***
Pouncey: As Tim always says, his ability to get to the second level is pretty good. He’s a center that gives you the ability to pull from edge to edge if you want to….that’s big. But, he just gets lost in close. It’s no coincidence we have struggled running on short downs since he’s been here. Yes, it’s great to have a center who can get to the second level, but it’s not so nice to have a center who loses the POA power game most of the time. His good lateral agility is a nice factor, but strong interior DL can disrupt him easier because he isn’t powerful. His snaps can be a concern. And, completely just my opinion, he seems like kind of a punk. Tough to be a leader of that unit if that’s the case…no matter how many drugs you sell them. Lol
    ***
Turner struggled all year….but pretty much in the way you figured he’d struggle. He held up physically…and that’s about it. I’m actually okay with that though given it was his first year playing. He has to get much better though. Disappointing, but I gotta see what another year brings.
    ***
    Fox just sucks. That’s all.
    ***
I think James is one of the better young OL in the league. If he can come back healthy and play like he can, I think he is potentially probowl type talent…if they ever voted RTs into the pro bowl and not just LTs. Lol
    ***
Douglas: just haven’t seen enough. Nobody else matters.
    ***
Damn, I guess it really isn’t Tannehill’s fault. Fuuuuuuuudge!

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

      I agree. LOL

Randy, with the players we have we should run the ball 30ish and pass 30ish. The 20/40 thing ain’t working. Also how about run 12-15 shotgun plays as opposed to 40+. 😉

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Tim you can’t just say run it this amount of times and pass this many, the situation dictates what you need to do. Like I said below we have to be able to convert on 3rd and 6 or less routinely or we can’t move the ball running that much.

  85. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Just want to say before I head south tomorrow, everyone have a safe, healthy and happy holidays. Enjoy life!

  86. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Tim,
I agree we need to run more…no doubt. But, there is just a lot more emphasis on the passing game with how the rules are. It’s amazing how running it on 3rd and 3 or 4 has become a thing of the past. You can hold a lot more in the running game now, but you can do pretty much anything you want in the passing game. You gotta be able to take advantage of that b/c if you can’t, you’re way behind the 8 ball….because every other team is trying to take advantage of it. We gotta find a way to turn this passing offense around too.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Agreed. The entire team needs to find itself look in the mirror and say hey WTF?!!!! LOL

That said, have you ever seen a season with more bad teams than this year? Even some of the playoff contenders are meh.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

What we need is to be able to get a first down on 3-6 or less, then we can run more, if not we can’t move the ball consistently when running on 1st and 2nd down. In other words this O sucks, until they can figure out how to throw a short pass and get a first down.

In the SD game we had too many 3rd down throws caught short of a first down, and there was no reason to run the route short of the first down, I think this is why RT was so frustrated after the game. About time he got frustrated, when the new coach comes in he needs to tell him how things are going to be.

RT sucks in our offense, but he doesn’t suck in general.

The third down conversion rate does need to go up, but more importantly we need to have to start picking up decent yardage on first down. That also means we need to have more success running on first down. They all kind of cascade of of one another

  91. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Steve

Agreed man. Is it me, or do we never go for the shortest route to the get the first down, we seem to try and run outside on third and short, which takes too much time to develop. We should just fire out straight up the middle

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Watch guys like Brady, Eli… they get rid of the ball quick, RT goes through all of his progressions every time he drops back to pass, in other words he takes too damn long. Someone has him so damn afraid to throw an int that his growth has been stunted.

    Late replies upcoming;

    Mike E,

Id really like to see Miller back, maybe Vernon, and Matthews at the right price. Tannehill has chemistry with Matthews so I’d like to see him stick around.

    Tim,

Our talent sucks if most of the guys Mike E says are one actually leave. We screwed the pooch in FA and in some ways the draft. Late draft pick for DB and guys off the street for LB didnt work. We keep depending on injury prone players who never make it even close to a full season.’

Albert, Misi, Parker, are always broken. We can’t find a single DB to start opposite old man Grimes. Our other starting DE might be gone after the all pro one broke down. That’s a lot of talent we have depended on that are either FAs, broken, or always breaking down.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Unless they’re planning on blowing it up, they have to keep either OV or Wake. Matthews needs to stay, and I doubt he does anywhere near as good some place else. We screwed the pooch trying to fix everything in one yr, that’s why we have salary cap issues (Suh big mistake).

We need to figure out how to run an offense that can move the ball, that’s why I want Josh McDaniels.

Lippett looked real good in SD, he played right on the WR mostly and stuck with him. He should be our #2 CB next yr behind Grimes, if he’s still a Fin. Bobby McCain is a keeper too, but I’d play him in the slot.

Miller is good, but he didn’t work out with this offense. I’d still like to keep him though, it shouldn’t be that hard to figure out how to use him properly.
