I hope everyone had a great Christmas and had lots of good times with friends and family. Or at least had some good liquor to get through it. If the latter is the case I hope you’ve still got some at hand. It’s game day and usually that calls for some heavy drinking to numb the senses to watch as the Dolphins play their brand of football.
Let’s Go Dolphins.

Notre quart-arrière est un outil
Don’t say that too loud- you’ll wake “them” up
The shills are alive…
Gee Cousins is horrible isn’t he how dare he throw for 365 yds and 4 td’s with the playoffs on the line in late December.
I get why you say this but I don’t see how you can make any kind of comparison since you’ve got to consider coaching and the other players on the team. Also the opponent and the division they are in. I’m not a Tanny defender or a proponent, I just think comparisons like this don’t really mean anything.
I have to agree with Herd. While Cousins is riding into form, their coaching staff does so much more to help him succeed it’s ridiculous. The main differences seem to be a horrible division, and better coaching so far.
While I agree that their division sucks (we got slaughtered in ours), you can only play who’s on your schedule. With that said, every NFL win, no matter the team, is a good one. I used to play that card (the teams they’ve played suck) at the beginning of seasons, but it never seems to materialize.
Herd, The Redskins as projected by EVERYONE were supposed to be one of the worst teams in the league this year. But a strange thing happened on the way to the playoffs, they got good QB play which propelled them to where they are.
Regardless of divisions and who played who they still have 3 more (and counting) wins than us.
“While Cousins is riding into form,”
In his first year as a starter not 4th, when the hell does Tannehill ride into form?
RT would be a better QB on that O, with a running game and receivers that get open and have good RAC, but I’m with you, when does he ride into form?
I miss Sundays with football. I guess we start cheering to draft a CB because LB will be fine once Dion Jordan returns… LOL
Funny, but our LB issues are in the middle.
Jaylon Smith, ND can play inside and outside AND all three downs. We may need to be top five to get him though.
That’s kind of high for an inside LB no?
A brisk 27 degrees here in sunny Las Vegas this morning, that after snow flurries on Christmas day.
My aunt in Henderson posted pics of the flurries.
Would have never guessed you guys would have a colder Christmas than the entire NE of the country.
Back in ’99, my wife lived here in LV, and on the day after Thanksgiving my dad drove me to LV to move her to Burbank with me. Well he stayed in LV overnight and woke up to 6″ of snow at his LV Strip hotel. It gets cold here and snows a little, but it doesn’t last long, we’ll be back to nice weather in a week, and by mid to late Feb. it’ll regularly be in the 70’s.
That’s what El Nino does to this country.
Wasington has had 393 rushing plays this year even though their RBs only average around 3.5-3.7 per rush. We, on the other hand, have rushed less than 260 times all year. Until the last two games, Cousins had 16 TDs and 11 ints.
Watching that game, I saw multiple instances of good play calling and solid coaching.
Talking about players, their stud OT, T. Williams, has missed one game in 4 years. Scherff has improved and hasn’t missed a game. Moses- 15 games. Long- 12. Ribeus-10 started, played 15. OL looks like it’s been a lot more stable.
Defensively, their entire DL has played without injuries. Kerrigan, no injuries. They have a decently stable backfield.
I just don’t see where we can compare with any real expectations.
Like I’ve been saying, when you can convert on 3rd and 6 or less on a regular basis, you can run the ball more. We can’t, so we don’t.
Going into the year they were a joke and you can’t deny that. It just goes to show how close each team is if a few things, QB, lack of injuries fall into place. We’re not as bad of a team as everyone thinks but we had no clutch plays at all this year, injuries and oh yeah a failed scheme.
You can do some of those things when you have a tough team, we on the other hand have a wimpy team, all started with a zone blocking scheme.
Word of the year:
Scheme
(never heard the word thrown around as much in my entire life)
(used to be teams just sucked)
(Sometimes, and especially in today’s game, you just don’t have the qb to compete)
(when has anyone ever heard “scheme” mentioned so much regarding a football season?)
Never, but what else can it be when the QB can make all the throws fairly accurately, and the receivers are better than average, and have an RB that averages about 5 yrds per carry, and the Oline blocks fairly well (when we don’t throw it 18 of 20 straight plays)?
Can make all the throws until you really need it, can’t lead a second half and especially a fourth qtr scoring drive all year long when the lead is within reach. Doink

Steve,
Washington has consistently run the ball. Five times this year, they ran more than they passed. It has nothing to do with consistently getting a first down. Your coaching staff has a system they run . Our coaches were going to pass no matter what. Washington maintained balance throughout the year and unsurprisingly, look a lot better for it. If you can’t get first downs, then look at why and fix it. Our coaches never looked at why but just kept doing the same stupid stuff, game after game after game.
Doink
Son,
I agree that Tannehill has to improve. I think coaches are a big part of that though. I can’t agree more that all teams are fairly close and certain things can change a season really fast. Both Eli and Flacco got hot at the right time in a system that allowed them to make mistakes. We have to get a real coaching staff. Better drafting(already better). Better leadership from our players including Tanny. We need to quit getting injury prone(or injured) players and hoping they miraculously stay healthy.
And I get that. But I can’t no satisfaction with that.
I need the boy to become a man and it ain’t happenin.
Lauren, do your job!!
Steveccnv,
where do you think Jaylon Smith should go? There’s no risk with this guy. He’s one of those LB’s who’s gonna be as much a ‘lock’ as it gets. He might return to ND for senior year…
Also, what’s the highest we’d take a CB? We’re sitting at 7 right now, which is not a bad spot. As I type this, I’m realizing that this draft class doesn’t excite me too much. 😦
I haven’t really watched much college football this yr, I’ve seen ND a little, but didn’t know anything about Jaylon, when I watched them. CB isn’t our biggest need, but if a lockdown guy is there when we draft we must take him.
I watched the first half of the Indiana game yesterday vs Duke. They look like a mirror image of us on D sans Jones, they’re good upfront but the LBs and secondary sucks.
New Age, I agree that our drafting has improved the last two drafts. If we can get two more like that (three starters per draft), we’d certainly be looking a lot better. A real “rebuild” must be done with great drafting, which is not how our owner wants to do it. lol (sorry, I didn’t mean to start ‘bashing’)
Everyone wants to do it that way, Ross wants to win now though, which stunts the growth of the rookies.
Rhino,
Mando has an article about how much the 2012 draft screwed us. It is bad and we had tons of picks. I’d like to get a few more picks this year but if we keep our picks, we need the big school guys like Piggy has mentioned(and others im sure)
While drafting is important, I look at the Rams and know that coaching is even more important. That team is stacked with talent and Fisher is just horrible.
I would love Jaylon Smith. Talk about another blue chip. Or Ramsey if he’s available. Either one is a step towards a viable 2016.
Oops, 2013 draft.
found the article you mentioned. ‘mando painted the picture with a darker palette than I even imagined. not just the draft, but the FA moves … what a clusterfuck. But of course, it REEKS with desperation as Ireland was using all resources to save his job. If it failed, he wouldn’t have to be around to deal with it anyway.
here’s the link: http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/armando-salguero/article51725765.html
We screwed the pooch with the 2013 draft, and with the acquisition of Suh and resigning RT to an extension, is why we’ll be in salary cap hell next yr. Suh was a good signing, but you need the guys around him or they’ll double team him to death making him somewhat irrelevant.
I’m hearing ‘buzz’ about Mike Shula for HC. We’d need to be careful here… Is it Mike or Cam? ya’ know!
It’s Cam and they’re able to run that type of offense, not only, because of Cam, but because the D is so good.
“It’s game day and usually that calls for some heavy drinking to numb the senses to watch as the Dolphins play their brand of football.”
LMAO Herd…..no wonder this site is a magnet for all Dolphin haters everywhere. 🙂
But today you can’t lose. You win you win. You lose you starting thinking about how the loss improved our draft position.
So if today is no lose, why the heavy drinking?
LOL — you presume that drinking can’t be a worthy self-sufficient activity in of itself,
Unfortunately in my case, my wife is making me go out to dinner tonight in a situation where I can’t just go “Yo Phins Dude.” Puts a damper on the game-time enjoyment.
When we drafted Pouncey, RT, and J.James everyone said we took them too high, then they do a re-draft yrs later and those guys get slotted better or about where they were taken, so forget about where someone is slotted pre-draft, just take your guy, if you can move down and still get him, even better.
Can someone tell me why Fox is showing the AFC game- Dolphins Colts today?
Go look at the stats of our team leaders, and if someone said to you before the season started, these will be our team leaders with these stats, everyone would’ve been happy. so why are we 5-9?
Just put in my last FF line-up changes for the year. Hate that……first sign that football is going away.
GO PHINS!!!
Wooo whooo, it’s the Son moaning how Tannehill sucks show….LOL
if cousins is sooooooooo much better then tanny, then how did tanny beat him.
(and yeah it goes both ways, if you want to have the idiotic philosophy that the qb loses then he gets all the credit when they win)

yep, i started reading the comments and almost said fuck it and left. it gets so lame and boring when with all the flaws this team has some can only point at one them
that idiot just said ‘great start for hasselback’ they ran two fucking plays so far
Just goes to show you they talk a lot without thinking, but it really doesn’t mean anything, except maybe he’s a colts fan.
Maybe they should have said….for his age. lol
Or nothing
Looks like a big U reunion today.
Our first play will be a pass for 1 or 2 yrds.
Well the result was the same.
indy sure did screw that drive up. what were they thinking getting into 3 and short
LOL!!!
2-0
Tanne’s great
He’s got the pocket presence of a Philbin.
another fucking safety. good god
Cousins would have thrown a TD pass on that safety. Instead we have Tannehill who takes the safety. Wah wah wah
ok, got the safety out of the way early…….

Or taken a knee…..
mike,
if tanny could play against cousins every game he would be undefeated. ha ha ha ha ha
8-9 play drive for Indy to start the game. Way to come out of the tunnel Defense.
Hats off the the Skins. I watched the game at a sports bar last nite with a guy who played the game years ago and who is a Skins fan.
We talked about how Jay Gruden is slowly getting somewhere with that team. I like the play calling from their young OC, he’s in his 20’s. We talked about how their offense seems set, lots of weapons, OMG Jordan Reed!!!!
But they need to work on the defensive side of the ball come 2016 draft.
Wooo whoooo, as I’m typing this Tanny gets ran over by a run away truck, SAFETY Colts.
The Phins have packed it in. These guys are already thinking about their offseason vaca plans….SMH!
I feel bad for Campbell. 😦
WTF????? HOW MANY SAFETIES HAVE THEY SPOTTED THE OTHER TEAM TO START A GAME THIS YEAR??
Let’s all defend Tanny after a safety
If we stop them without giving up any points on this drive, then the safety was likely a good thing, but big if.
LMAO, Grimes with a INT, Oops, nope a penalty for defensive holding….SMH
Let’s all defend the O-line for allowing a 6’2 320 lb guy get through untouched. The split here is comical. It’s either kill Tannehill for everything, or you’re defending him. I’m tired of this
Tannehill sucks
Just let him be criticized
The OL sucks too
Let them be criticized
But don’t tell me Tannehill is good
The divide is not wether the OL is good or not
It’s whether Tannehill should be subject to criticism
At least the Dolphins lead the league in safeties. Good to be a leader at something.
Since we’re already out I don’t expect us to get any calls in this game.

Let’s all defend Tanny after a safety
where you reading some other blog? pretty sure no one here defended him. but go ahead and make stuff up
Okay
If you say so
Tannehill is still the second best QB this team has had behind Earl Morrall.
Lippet makes the stop but terrible form. Throwing his back blindly into the guy
This should help Miami, going headless, err headsetless. 😉
40 yo banged up QB outruns our pass rush….friggin Tanny.
mike
you dont even have to say anything to defend tanny. just say how bad the defense is or how poor the drafting has been and then you are a tanny defender
Or get unreasonably made bc some one is praising Kirk cousins or saying cousins is better than Tanny
Then try to pretend its not defending Tanny to do that
Make sure no one covers Dorsett.
That’s what I saw last week in SD, on every play someone was wide open for SD, our scheme on D sucks. It can’t be a blown coverage on every play.
Have a nice day guys….
see that is smart play calling get in 3rd and long.
this is the worse 3rd and long defense ever, but i am sure that is just me defending tanny
just read an article about how Indy’s “old FA’s” got their coach fired. Too bad Fins weren’t on the schedule earlier in the season. 😦
WOOO, I got Gore in my fantasy….WOOO. I knew he’d have a big day against the 35th ranked run defense.
Yep, OL and defense in the draft.
Two weeks in a row an opposition extra pt is missed, too bad we didn’t score enough to have that problem.

oh come on. that was lame, you can do better then that. i mean i like tim and all but i dont plan on stalking him. now try again, but work on it this time
Ok Mr Cut N. Paste
And it’s “than” not “then”
A lot of players watching on the Dolphins D on those last few plays resulting in the score instead of swarming.
steve, you can’t say scheme on here….lol
Right
No one here was upset about the discussions that cousins was playing better than Tanny
No one was defensive about that at all
If yiu guys want to be full of shit
Just remember anyone can just scroll up and read what you said
We should be blitzing on every play, just pound the old man, he’ll start feeling it sooner than later.
The Flying Pig says:
December 27, 2015 at 1:26 pm
Or get unreasonably made bc some one is praising Kirk cousins or saying cousins is better than Tanny
so now even pointing out when some one is being hypocritical even that is now defending tanny. i cant help if if you cant read, i am tired of saying that tanny is part of the problem.
Also, Kelvin Sheppard is not very good (I know, I know – not exactly a news flash). No vision, bad instincts. Suckered in towards Fleener on the Dorsett pass play even though Dorsett ran right across him in what looked like zone coverage, then hitting the wrong hole on the TD run by Gore. Ugly.
SB7 mentioned Earl Morrall, isn’t that who the QB is for the Colts today?
That was all Parker
Just throw it up, just throw it to him more.
Try Pod says:

Ok Mr Cut N. Paste
And it’s “than” not “then”
YOUR right. lmfao
does that make you feel superior now, you corrected my gremmer
No- already knew I was superior
Now I just feel sad
That was all Tanne
maybe it is in year 5 qb’s learn how to throw the ball away
Try Pod says:
December 27, 2015 at 1:32 pm
No- already knew I was superior
i agree you are. you are my idol. i want to be you some day
No chance
hey cameron caught something
That was all Cameron
I’m afraid to say anything. I think I’ll just drink.
Good strategy
hey he finally threw a pass away
Bored
Later
That was all Tanne
Maybe I’ll drink more.
I am right with you
Just an awful throw.
Cousins threw it
I knew that bastard was holding us back!
Vontae Davis….woooo
At least the 1st quarter is almost over.
Was a bad throw by Tanny. I don’t think him & Parker are on the same page. But that did suck regardless.
New Age says:
December 27, 2015 at 1:38 pm
Just an awful throw.
i couldnt tell but it looked like his arm was hit, was it? if not it doesnt qualify as awful, more like pathetic.
Looks like it was.
so far, our defense has outscored our offense 6-2
Way to out a positive spin on it
Phins need to have all 3 dressed RB’s behind the OL to slow the missed blocks every play….lol
colts keep getting in 3rd and short and screwing up
Team is a wreck. Next coach has a lot of work to do. I still think Hue is the best option. He’s done a lot of work with Dalton and Tannehill is close to completely broken. He needs someone to fix him bad.
Tannehill has already been fixed bad.
LOL! They did a good job too. Gave those guys the upgraded job somewhere else they did so good.
Well good afternoon all hows it going 😎
We’ve gotten the safety out of the way already
new age
the new coach has one player, and that is landry, after that he has his work cut out for him
i think that is the most open cameron has been all year long
now that’s what running the football “sounds like”
1 yard line in the shot gun..really?
Don’t say scheme….ssssh
Run it 2 more times
Herd: i will take responsibility for the safety. As soon as i saw them diwn it inside the 5 i said woohoo safety coming. Not Tanny’s fault 😎
I knew it!
Damn, Miller is wasted here.
bookman11 says:

Good for Miller our ex RB as of 2016.
Woohoo
We are not running the ball well
But stick with it
