I hope everyone had a great Christmas and had lots of good times with friends and family. Or at least had some good liquor to get through it. If the latter is the case I hope you’ve still got some at hand. It’s game day and usually that calls for some heavy drinking to numb the senses to watch as the Dolphins play their brand of football.
Let’s Go Dolphins.

Never doubted your football knowledge or acumen, just your ability to digest what a QB was seeing on any given play, and what his receivers were doing too by watching a game on TV. That’s why there’s coaches film, so they can look at all those things together. You’re gonna get butt-hurt, I’m sorry for that, but I don’t think it’s possible to be as sure as you make it seem. I’ll tell you right now I’m no expert, never claimed to be, and never will. I’d bet you know more about football than I ever will, but just because I write Ask Mike, doesn’t mean I’m professing to know more than I do, it’s always just been my opinion, right or wrong.
Dig route, slant, post, curl, abbey normal.
…on 3, break….LMAO.
Herd, was a pic of Mancampbell with his hands on his hips and upper body tilted to one side and looking at the field with a bewildered look on his face.
Sorry, no porn or misuses of pickle jars. 😉
And right on schedule here we are at the annual “Out of the postseason, lets turn our frustration with the team and fight with each other” portion of the blog.
C’mon you instigator. There’s no fighting, we’re just playfully razzing each other. It’s what fans with nothing else to look for with a season still going do.
I’m not an instigator….at least not in this case. lol

Bookman
Are you going to be a little more lenient with people returning books to the library with all that snow?
Mike,
No, the kids are off of school this week, they can walk through the snow and return the books!
Mike im not saying on every play i can see it, you are right there are times you can but there are certaily times you can and on those plays i have see times when Tanny did all those things i have accused him of. What i was saying was more about the fact, im not jumping to a conclusion, im seeing what im seeing. You can tell me if you want to i dont see it, but i have 0 reason to lie about it, i have 0 reason to make the QB of my team out to be less than what he is, im just not blindly making him out to be more than he is. How am i wrong for that and why do you feel the need to tell me i cant possibly see what i say i do, just because you dont want those things said about him…..
D, nobody can out see the optician. He sees all.
Sorry to get butt hurt about being called a liar but that’s just how I roll
Well, I’m not calling you a liar, just stating I disagree with what accuracy you can make those judgements by watching a game on TV. I know I watch every game on TV, on a big screen, and its difficult to see both the QB and the receivers and be able to digest what the QB saw, and what he decided to do.
BTW – You can have my spot on Thursdays if you want to write an article. It would be my pleasure to let you take it.
I can tell you what Tannehill doesn’t read….Library books. Probably a fan of Abbie Hoffman as well.
Quick straw poll:
Last week I observed the OL was just about the worst I’d ever seen it play, and many here agreed. Was the OL worse against the Chargers…or the Colts?
Yeah, I’m hinting at a really serious problem here that we have not been able to address in about a decade, and it only resides in the offensive backfield AFTER the ball is snapped!
I’ll have to refer to you because I bailed in the SD game at 16-0 because I knew what was coming and didn’t want to watch it anymore.
Yo Bri! Shoutout! What town are you in? Too far from Santa Barbara to come see the brewery no doubt, but I grew up in the Bay Area so maybe I can suggest a good place to tip a couple beers…
LMAO!!!
Jahn, what do you think of Duvel Golden Ale?
OL has been equally awful past two weeks. Really horrible play
The whole team gave up after that last Jets game.
I feel bad for Campbell. Ya know he wants to kick their ass for not being behind him all the way.
But that’s today’s young rich self entitled societal brats.
This is what D wears to analyze Tanny.

…or that’s what Lazor gave Tanny to wear & why he’s having trouble.
Lazor was like, here where this and you won’t be aware of what’s coming at your blindside, keeps your focus downfield.

Here you go Herd!
Notice his hose is flaccid and prematurely gushing. Must be the steroids….
One more thing I’ve noticed about this offensive system is that the route combinations are not complimentary at all. I.e. two receivers running in the same area, etc. I see other teams run routes that get their guys WIDE OPEN (at least against us) I mean NO ONE within 10 yards of them. Our route combinations seem to condense the field on our receivers by drawing the DB’s to the same area instead of spreading them out.
It seems like it’s been like that for 20 years.
Tannehill’s fault, he has a pez dispenser for a head & neck.

Definitely too far from Santa Barbara unfortunately! I’m in Concord,my brother just bought a house and I’m helping him get settled. I’m with my 8 year old son so it has to be kid friendly!

Our Coaching Wish List: Who will be the next coach of the Miami #Dolphins? – http://phinsphocus.com/2015-articles/who-will-be-the-next-coach-of-the-miami-dolphins.html … via @DolphinMick
“Payton for one, is going to cost one maybe two number one draft picks for the next couple of years.”…….I thought word was that Payton might get fired. Even if not, seems the price should be a lot less than that.
Mike, the Ask Mike articles are great, wasn’t trying to diminish your contributions.
My point with that comment is, you often present your answers as points of facts, facts that i assume, or give credit to you having done research on to support your statements. What i was getting at is you spoke to me about my statements of facts, facts i come by by researching things. You treat these facts there was no truth or research behind them, you gave me no credit for what i see, when your articles are predicated on people doing that for you. I know people dont always agree with your answers, i dont expect them to mine, but they dont tell you, there is no way you can be right here, none, you cant answer that question, you cant see what your saying you are seeing.
I was trying to show you how your actions are in general very hypocritical and quite frankly makes me not want to read anything you post, since you cant in return give the same respect back.
Oh well, it’s almost time to start looking at draft eligible players. Woohoo!
Since we are going to be in the top ten………seems there will be less to concentrate at least. And heck……we could even get to #3 with the greatest upset weekend of all time. That would really cut down on research time.
Whats the point with that, obviously no matter what you see in those players game film, its impossible for you to have any ability to spot talent. You have 0 ability Randy to tell if a OL has good footwork a strong punch, or good technique off the snap. If you dont believe me ask some of these other guys, they will be quick to tell ya.
BTW – You can have my spot on Thursdays if you want to write an article. It would be my pleasure to let you take it.

I think you’re making more out of this than you should be. I’ve already made it clear I’m not calling you a liar, I know you think you can do what you say well, it’s just that I think you can’t. You’re not lying, and it’s possible you can do those things. In my opinion, it’s impossible to do what you say you do accurately without coaches film. That’s the entire crux of this discussion, nothing more, nothing less.
D,
everyone knows randys post so no one bothers reading them anymore
‘our oline is perfect, tanny has lead feet’ over and over and over and over again.

alex, what is what all dolphin fans said after the washington game
I don’t think any team trades for Sean Payton. If the Saints are wiling to trade him then they’re looking to move on from him and they don’t want him as their HC. That’s a hard sell for them.
Hey Sean, we tried to trade you but we got no takers so we hope you know we believe in you as our HC. The trade usually happens when the coach wants out and the team isn’t exactly on board with that, not the other way around.
LOL, My boss just came into my office (right after I posted the has anyone seen Gigi post) and said “what are you doing?” I lied and said “working on the Westin Bid” he says “yeah, fuck that, what the hell is wrong with Ryan Tannehill?” ROFLMAO! he MADE me sit and talk Dolphins with him. LOL
Rock — busted again (thinking back to the drug test thing)………..you must be awesome at what you do.
D,
I think the frustration of losing is wearing on all of us. It’s inevitable we’re gonna disagree and question what others see. Hell, I’ve been questioning what people say they’ve seen in Tannehill for years because I just don’t see it! Opinions get entrenched around here and that will never change. Mine included! Fans, in general, are nuts, and we all tend to think we’re right! Lol
***
I’d tell you that you’re right, but your posts are so damn long I fall asleep before I finish them. Lol
‘ROFLMAO! he MADE me sit and talk Dolphins with him. LOL’
you know you can turn him into HR and get him fired for cruel and unusual punishment
Or he can tell them he touched me down there.
Sean Payton brigade, you might be in luck. I wouldn’t trade a damn thing for him for a few reasons, but #1 is that there’s no need to.
He’s had a fallen out with the Benton ownership & meddling granddaughters etc.
He won’t be staying, so they’re not gonna fool anyone by expecting & getting a early draft round pick or two…IMHO.
Yeah……..doesn’t say much for the situation when a team is trying to build up the trade value of their coach. But I am part of that brigade……main problem is that Tannenbaum will most distinctly not be.
Rock’s boss said, SIT THE FU** DOWN, let’s talk some Tanny trash, & no I won’t touch you down there on your private westin parts.

There is validity in D, analysis and I too watch the QB’s head movements as much as possible. Is it hard to know what’s really going on, sure. But it’s fun to try and break down the damn break downs with this flawed team.
So for that I appreciate D and all the other posters. Gives me something to bitch about….LOL

I’ve never said our OL is good. I just think people overlook how terrible Tannehill’s pocket presence is and how that negatively affects the OL and their sack numbers. Couple that with his plodding way of reading defenses(or doesn’t), and the guy doesn’t help his OL at all. They don’t help him either, but it’s not just a one way street. Tannehill is part of the reason why he gets sacked so often. I take issue with people who claim that isn’t the case and just blame the OL. Protection is a TEAM effort.
I’ve never said Tanny is great. I just think people overlook how terrible the OL is and how it negatively affects the QB & his numbers.

randy,
i think you are wrong…..well not me but mike e said you are wrong. he said there is no way possible by watching the games you can see how the oline plays.
Hey look at me, tada!!! LOL

Rob, you cannot get the owner of the company fired by his HR girl. It just doesn’t work that way. On the other hand I can sue him for cruel and unusual punishment by MAKING me discuss this team. 😉
D
i think the only part of your post that is questionable is when you said you go back and re-watch the games. there is no way possible any human would subject themselves to that kind of punishment.
Question: Tannehill said the incompletion he threw to Parker…not the one where his arm was hit but the other one….he threw it low and outside to give his receiver a chance. My question is why the hell is he throwing a “low and outside” pass to Parker in the end zone in the first place? Throw a high point fade, so he can use his height and leaping ability to make a play. I don’t get that play call OR execution at all….unless the coaches have 0 faith in Tanny’s ability to throw a fade. And, if that’s the case….our offense will a,ways be limited in the red zone….and makes it much easier to defend us. Bad playcalling/design….or a limited QB who can’t make the throws needed? I ask because this is the sort of thing I mean when I constantly say we leave points on the field.
gdp
Come on now. Don’t make me pull up old posts where you say Tanny is great because I will. Lol
Shoulda got rid of it. LOL
The OL? Yes!
Our center was wide open on that play! he should have thrown it to him! SMH WTF was that?
“unless the coaches have 0 faith in Tanny’s ability to throw a fade.” I think this is the case! I have yet in 4 years to see Tannehill throw a good fade pass. That was actually one of the things my boss wanted to talk about during our “trash Tannehill” session. LOL
Top of my re-sign list is Cameron. And I know he is not technically a FA, but his 2016 salary for $7.5 mil was just an “in case he goes All-Pro” thing. No one will pay that, and we helped make sure of that based on how we used and did not use him….and yeah that includes Tanny in there.
Like what he brings to the O and how he plays.
Cameron is an asset and a new competent OC will find best how to use him.
I love the fact he’s got a full year concussion free now. He’s got some good years ahead of him now.
Keep him, work a friendly deal.
I have him on my cut list.
You and i are i think in a minority here as well. Completely agree. Cameron has had a lot of plays where he got open and he is certainly one of those guys i think is a game changer for us, utilized properly. Also there are 0 potential replacement candidates out there that would be an upgrade, not in the draft, not in FA.
That said, i do really like the TE out of Arkansas, Hunter Henry. He is pretty athletically gifted, and reminds me a lot of Witten, as he is also very football smart.
Then you’ll like his QB Allen that is feeding him the rock.
gdp
And I could post dozens of videos showing Tannehill not doing his job. It’s a team effort. Focusing on just the OL is watching with blinders on. Anyway…lunch is over. Later.
But I don’t wanna be a ball watcher. You can’t make me.

I know SEC like back of my hand. I like him, he’s a gamer. I dont see potential start in him though. He was one of the best SEC QB’s this year, however.
He’s one of my suggestions for a later round find to replace Matt Moore.
He would be a good backup for sure but I’d really like a guy who would also threaten Tanny a little push him some
Being gamer though he might be able to do that. He’s a solid late round possibly udfa option. I think he is still flying significantly under the radar at this point.
Cameron has had a lot of plays where he got open and he is certainly one of those guys i think is a game changer for us,
He was also one of those guys who dropped EXCELLENT passes right in his hands at critical times this year and could not get open on other occasions. He HAS been a game changer for us. changed an easy first down to a punt several times. Agree to disagree.
Everybody’s made mental mistakes cause the damn scheme/system/play calling is so out of kilter that it puts players into bad positions, confuses them, has them thinking too much, & becoming accustomed to something going wrong or feeling like they need to do too much, like score everytime they get a whiff of a ball coming their way.
I haven’t seen Dbolt here in quite awhile. I wonder if this team has turned him off to the point of madness. LOL
Was reading how Indy’s D came into Miami averaging 1.6 sacks a game. Sunday they got 6 and made their DL look like the Steel Curtain.
I was going to point that out yesterday but I got tired pointing out how bad the pass pro is.
Rivers is a FA & disgruntled with the franchise FO.
I think you could see the Chargers draft Goff and keep him in Cali.
I thought rivers signed a contract extension last year to stay with chargers.
He did.
I like all the coaches on phinfocus site except mangini. not sure what he brings to the table.
He brings whatever Tbomb wants him to do….lol
He’s very good at game planning and knows both sides of the ball.
I guess mangini did go to the playoffs with penny one year
Im not a fan of Mangini and i question how good of a coach he is. That said, he probably is an upgrade over what we have/had. I wouldn’t put him anywhere near the top of the potentials list though.
Oh and i know a lot still swoon over Gruden, but hiring him might actually be the last straw for me lol. I dont know if i could suffer through his press conferences. I also think he was more of a product of inheriting a ready made team than he was successful as a coach.
I agree. I would rather have McDermott or Bevell before mangini
Uhhhg! @ Mangini (it’s not just my general hate for all things Jets)

D,
I like your posts. The only thing for me that hurts your credibility is your name…”D”. The Dolphins haven’t had a credible “D” in years.
I’m not sure if Mangini can be a really good HC but he is a very good football coach. He’s very detailed in his approach. But his personality is a bore and I remember hearing he was too strict with his players and they weren’t very keen on him.
well, if I am not mis-recalling (I know it’s not a word, but it is NOW) he was saddled with a bunch of over the hill high priced free agents (divas) by Tbum.
plus he was in the playoffs ONE year (his first) and was one and done from the Wild card spot against the Pats
Those are the teams that Rex took to back to back AFC Championship games. They weren’t over the hill.
and belicheat hates him. Isn’t he the one to get spygate out in open?
Mangina is a 2 time HC, Jets & Browns, now he’s a DC for the 49’ers.
He’s still young, only 44, so he’s done a lot early on & younger than Campbell was when he became an interim HC this season @ 39.
But I’m still got my sights set on a couple other HC’s before I’d go Mangina.
But Mangina already has a derogatory nickname and we wouldn’t have to come up with a new one…

boulder,
if the coach is gruden you would lose that bet
Anyone know much about the Nate Sudfeld kid out of indiana?
It’s cool to have this new coach conversation, but regardless of who we like or dislike, we’re not making the call so it’s akin to your mom asking you what sides you want for Thanksgiving and then when you get there she has none of the ones you chose. LOL
LOL..Then you could say..”who was part of the Dufus Brigade that decided on these sides?”
LOL, it’s why OD goes out to eat often, so he can use that term there and avoid a costly tip. 😉
LOL
Boulder, I’d like to see Phins dump Grimes and his organ grinder sidewalk act.
Then go for CB Janoris Jenkins in FA, he’ll come cheaper than Josh Norman whom everybody will be fixated on.
Then draft a stud CB in 1st if he’s BPA when we pick, or in the 2nd or 3rd round.
Then I’d sign FA LT Cordy Glenn away from the Bills, he’s 26. I’d try to work a trade for Albert if I could, or eventually cut him.
Then draft a BPA LB or DE in the 1st 3 rounds like I mentioned for CB.
So first 3 picks after those FA moves would be BPA of CB, LB, DE.
BTW, Albert will be 32 next season.
If he can get himself in good shape this offseason I’d keep him around because it’s clear he’s our best OL and they can play well into their 30s.
i would like to see D be the next coach. so when he makes his comments and mike e questions him he can say ‘nanny nanny boo boo i have coaches film’
Or that’s not the play we ran and Tannehill fucked it up. LOL

LOL
LOL, that or ever heard a broadcast of a Packers game when Gruden is in the booth.
Jared Goff is 20/28 337 yards 5 TD’s & 0 INTS vs. Air Force. 7min left in the 3rd quarter….lol
Niners or Browns
…or Chargers if Rivers hauls ass.
Gruden is the worst when saying Tanny-hill.
It’s unbelievable that he STILL says it!
GD, Rivers is signed through 2020. The only way he hauls ass is into retirement.

Your score is: 6720 (GRADE: A-)
Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 7: Vernon Hargreaves III, CB, Florida (A)
Round 2 Pick 7: Shaq Lawson, DE, Clemson (A)
Round 3 Pick 14 (CHI): Devontae Booker, RB, Utah (A+)
Round 4 Pick 7: Jalen Reeves-Maybin, OLB, Tennessee (A)
Round 4 Pick 14 (CHI): Christian Hackenberg, QB, Penn State (B)
Round 5 Pick 7: Carl Lawson, DE/OLB, Auburn (A-)
Round 5 Pick 14 (CHI): Cassanova McKinzy, ILB, Auburn (B)
Round 6 Pick 7: Fahn Cooper, OT, Ole Miss (B)
Round 7 Pick 7: Brian Poole, CB, Florida (B)
Round 7 Pick 8: Demarcus Robinson, WR, Florida (A+)
I like that FA suggestion GD. Janoris is very talented. Josh Norman is also pretty overrated.
Thanks. Would be replacing Grimes with a younger upgrade for no more than the same price. The we still draft CB early and should be set on the corners.
Time for the Aww moment of the day.
That’s awesome. Somehow guessing once those pups grow up they won’t be as much interaction though.

Dump Grimes, Dump Wake, +15mil, Sign Alex Boone -6mil, Glenn -12mil would be nice but definitely would have to trade/cut Albert +5mil if we were going to swing it. Might be able to squeeze in Michael Wilhoite as well. Could double up on the OG’s in FA as well, or let Turner, Thomas, Douglas battle for last spot and cut third place guy.
Sounds good to me. Cordy Glenn @ that price would be like fining a TOP LT in the draft that took a couple years to round into form. He’s 26 & a 6yr deal would make him an anchor for a long while.
Boone’s gonna cost a lot for a OG, I have a few cheaper options in mind if money gets tight.
I like Wilhoite too, & Danny Travathan.
Money IS tight!
I figure Boone is going to be 6-7mil a year kinda thing and then Aponte can work her cap voodoo and shift it around so we can afford him. I think he in particular would go a LONG way towards helping our offense.
I also think we have a few more cuts that could be made.
Misi (im half in and half out of this argument)
Taylor (though dont save a ton there)
Fox
Jordan (just have no belief that he turns things around)
Jennings
Mitchell (is debatable, thoughi think at what we save cutting him, he is more valuable than those savings)
D,
My guess is by the time the draft rolls around, Hackenberg goes in the 2nd, no later than the 3rd.
You are probably right, i think a lot of the smaller school QB also fall some by that time, either way i think we could find ourselves with a shot at someone who will push Tanny a little and be at very minimum a solid backup for us. What i see in him seems promising.
With the right tutelage I think he can play well in the NFL. I wouldn’t mind grabbing Nassib either.
Houston may grab him in the 2nd if he’s around when they pick. He played very well in O’Brien’s system.
That draft i got above wasnt too bad, arguable that some of those players would really fall that low, but im just working with the rules of that system. I only had one trade back in the third to get those extra picks.
It’s troubling that we crumble down the stretch no matter who the coach is, and what his coaching style is. I was thinking that Campbell’s fiery style compared to Philbins aww shucks style make no difference whatsoever.
D I’ve watch some Indiana games and film looking at Spriggs.
He’s not bad. Nothing special though!
If you get him as an UDFA that would be great!
But he will probably go in the 6th or 7th?
Spriggs is going to go a lot higher than 6th or 7th round. It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s not gone by the end of the 2nd round. If not, definitely the 3rd round.
D
asked about Sudfeld the QB
My bad. I thought you were talking about Spriggs. I didn’t see D at the beginning of your reply.
It’s cool!
I’d take Spriggs in the 2nd!
Me too.
Brian ,
Style really means nothing. The best coaches train their players to succeed. Belichick has assignments for his players so they research their opponents. Bowles asks them questions about what they are supposed to do week by week. Arians changed his system to fit Palmer. http://mmqb.si.com/2013/12/18/bruce-arians-arizona-cardinals-nfl
We are asking the position coaches to fix a crappy system they were a part of. It’s just not happening. Top coaching will get this team back on track. Or we will keep seeing the same garbage.
For the TannEEhater in your life! 😉

Brian, Campbell basically had to inherit everything including coaches to keep the team ready to play. He never had a chance to start fresh, instill his message to the players and install his systems with his own coaches. Very hard to take over in-season and turn around a broken team.
I understand all of that guys, I just find it interesting that the complaints here the last few years were “Philbin can’t motivate his guys to finish the season strong” and the same thing is happening with Campbell.
I never really bought into the motivate players to finish strong thing. I mean with the playoffs on the line a player needs to be motivated. Prepared yes, but motivated? I think it was more about not be good enough than being motivated. And we surely aren’t good this year.
There goes the Jordan trade!

Chip Kelly has been fired.
No one saw that coming. LOL
Wow! They just fired their GM and HC so they’ll be in competition with us for a HC too.
With one game left?
Brian:
A poor finish was all but guaranteed when you fire a HC 4 games into the season. While I think the firing was the right thing to do it did however effectively end our season
WTF

I’d absolutely take him in Miami. Target number one. Just don’t let him have personnel power.
And Lazer can be our OC
WTF indeed. We see first hand his shit don’t work anymore but then we hire the guy? LOL! Crazy
That would make very angry
Did I see Joe Berger starting for the Vikings the other night?
Yes you did, he has been for awhile.
Yep! I always thought he was a solid player for us. He started a lot for us one season.
Chip Kelly was what 10-6 went to playoffs, 10-6, 6-9.
Jeff Lurie don’t give much slack…lol
His guys hated him
Said Tomlin: “Our ills from last week need to be rectified and rectified quickly. We have to bounce back like championship caliber teams do,” adding that Sunday’s tilt with the Browns is about “getting the stench off us.”
See! That is why we still stink for the past 15 years. No one has washed the stench off yet!
We need to find out what kind of soap Tomlin uses.
Lol!

Chip Kelly will reportedly only entertain other NFL jobs but has his eye on Miami.
LOL @ UncleChaps
Well the Eagles at least ran the ball. They were 11th in rushing attempts with 27.8 compared to our 20.2
