Two Ohio State Athletes:

The very fast Braxton Miller

Braxton Miller

And the Best Running Back in this Year’s Class, Ezekiel Elliot

Ezekial Elliot

Physical Freak of Nature Shawn Oakman

Oakman

Track Athlete Jalen Ramsey, who may not wow in the 40 yard dash, but is expected to wow in everything else.

JalenRamsey

And Robert Nkemdiche, who better use the combine as a place to erase some of his red flags in the mind of many NFL scouts.

Robert Nkemdiche

Its going to be a lot of fun!

Enjoy!!!

Willie Beaver only got 20 on the BP, La’Raven only 18, but then again he also has the longest arms, Fahn Cooper who has about the same arm length as Clark got 19.

Spencer Drango 30, Joshua Garrett 30, McGovern i was expecting a lot more from, only 33, Christian Westerman has 34, Landon Turner and Jason spriggs both were in the 30’s. No really weak numbers in the list, no really herculean either.

  2. Randy says:

Let’s not forget that Poucey has never played well at guard in the NFL. No way in hell did his performance there a couple years ago warrant a pro bowl berth….if people actually still think the pro bowl has anything to do with performance. He excels at movement…not point of attack contact and physically moving defenders…which is what guards do. He’ll get his ass kicked….again….if he moves to guard. But, I’ll take Mack over Pouncey any day.
    ***
Pouncey came out of college and chose to market himself as a center because they make more money. This is the same guy who was making sure his teammates were getting their drugs….and supported a murderer. Good guy….team player? Yeah, that’s promoting accountability and putting the team first. Lol

    • getterdone says:

I too say leave him @ C. I’d like to see Douglas win the LG spot & Turner become a beast @ RG.
      Albert – Douglas – Pouncey – Turner – James
That could be a very good group if we can keep them all on the field for 16 games & a solid complementing offensive system ran by Gase.

  3. Randy says:

    D,
I looked at Mr. Beavers play….came away unimpressed. I was hoping he might be a mid round steal guy, but he’s a pretty undeveloped guy. I still think La’Raven needs to move into guard. I don’t see him as an NFL LT.

  4. Randy says:

Bench press is becoming less important. What I’d like to see them do is have guys do an open palm punch machine. That would be fun to watch, and it would show if a guy has a good punch or not, which is becoming more important because you’re in pass pro constantly. Imagine, all the lights and buzzers going off….guys trying to bust the machine! Lol

  5. steveccnv says:

All this talk about speed doesn’t matter…The difference between Landry and Odell is Odell has the speed.

Someone above wrote the measurables can define the max potential. And that’s what we see with Landry and Odell, one is the best WR in football the other is a very good WR, but limited.

I’m not complaining about Landry, he’s got the heart of a lion, but he’ll never be the best WR in the league.

Randy Moss is another example, without his speed he’s not even Larry Fitzgerald, with it he had the best year for a WR in the history of the league.

    Randy

I told ’em you didn’t like Pouncey at G. lol

  8. D says:

Yeah Randy i got to see a little from Beavers and Clark at the Senior Bowl too and i wasnt really impressed with either. Beavers is probably 4th roundish, but that would be an at even value selection, 5th or 6th i think is more where i would want to to get value from the pick. His upside makes him definitely worth that.

LaRaven i really thought looked like poop in a few games i watch, especially the LSU bowl game where he was getting worked almost every play. He plays tall, he’s quick but oversteps a good bit opening himself up for an inside move, he needs work he just has a lot of athletic and size attributes that you cant teach so he has some upaside. He is in no way though to be considered a start right off prospect, probably will take him a couple years slowly rotating in to start being productive.

  9. Randy says:

    D,
Agreed on Clark. I don’t think the offense he played in helped him. It exposed his weaknesses. I like his potential, but I still like him at guard.

  10. steveccnv says:

Bautista didn’t say hometown discounts don’t exist, he said hometown discounts don’t exist in HIS world.

  11. D says:

Steve what was being said was speed is an over-value statistic. Its no longer one of the most defining stats about a player. With the changes in the NFL, the ability to stop on a dime and then get burst acceleration is trumping straight line speed. Not to mention 40 values have no bearing on in pads speed. You can have players who lose several points off those 40 values adding the weight from pads, you have others where it doesnt do anything to them at all. No one was saying a 5 second 40 doesnt scream WTF if everyone else in the class is running a 4.5 or below. It doesnt however tell you anything about how much an advantage that player has or how many limitations they had. Landry is in no way limited, Odell is good at what he does, Landry what he does, neither is limited and id say neither is better than the other at what they do in particular.

You dont write players off because of 40 times, or shouldnt. You dont put them on a pedestal for it either.

    • steveccnv says:

Landry is limited, that’s not even debatable.

In the draft you don’t see WRs going top 10, if their speed is over 4.5. Rice is about the only guy I can think of that was the best for any yr and didn’t have sub 4.5 speed. Now WRs that were tall like Larry Fitzgerald used size instead of speed, but you better have one or the other.

      • D says:

And Rice was consistently the best, for like a decade. Arguably one of the best receivers ever. You seem to really put a lot in the 40 time, i dont that just how i feel, i thing with most of the more complex routes id rather have a receiver with good route running, great acceleration through his breaks and great hands. As long as he isnt ridiculously slow i bet he winds up a big time player, and i think Landry will too.

  12. Randy says:

    MikeE
I’ve never been a big fan of Pouncey, so I admit my bias. Lol

    • D says:

Im a so so fan of him. Maurkice was the better of the two coming out of college. He is very talented and has a mean streak you like to see in an OLman and i think he is a good OC , escpecially for ZBS, but he is not an NFL caliber OG.

  13. Randy says:

    steve,
I get what you’re saying about Moss. But, I think people really underrate his football intelligence and savvy route running. He regularly beat teams and defenders who were specifically playing to take away his speed. The guy was blazing fast, but he always knew how to play too.

    • D says:

The main point that was made and in their own way made by about everyone is, scouts dont look at that number and then go to their hotel and jerk off about a player, fans do that, the scouts know who is a good player from game film, they see a stat like the 40 if anything it just helps them fine tune that opinion, or it MAY settle an argument they have with themselves about these two very closely comparable players.

    • steveccnv says:

I agree with that, but he’s not the same player or anything close to it without the speed.

  14. steveccnv says:

If Landry wasn’t limited he’d be playing on the outside more often.

    • Mike E. says:

I agree with that. If he had OBJ’s speed, he wouldn’t be playing the slot.

      • D says:

He doesnt play the slot, he lines up in each of the positions on any given play. He’s not limited to or limited from playing in any of them because he did last year.

    • D says:

I think thats a pretty old school way of looking at the position man. The days of defined X Y Z receiver and the roles they have is a dying thing.

      • Tim Knight says:

Agreed. He plays all of them and does them all well. He’s not as limited like Bess was. He has more talent than Welker and Edelman too.

  15. Randy says:

    D
I think better coaching in the NFL can help him develop better technique. He played guard early in his college career. He’s still a mid round guy with good upside, to me. I think he has the tools to be a starter…but not right away.

    • D says:

Pretty much same boat then, was just saying already being pre-dispositioned to stand up instead of stay low yeah i think he makes it as an OG, i just think he takes a slower route to becoming a starter. Denver Kirkland however, i think probably comes in and starts at OG or OT with in a year. My favorite OG prospect this year though is Tretola.

  16. Mike E. says:

    D

He does play most of the time inside. Does it matter? Some of the most successful WR’s in the game play inside, like Wes Welker, Julian Edelman. No shame in it. I think he’s better, and does more damage playing inside.

    • Tim Knight says:

There is more Landry can do from the inside. He often starts off inside and catches it on a cross to the outside. He can stay inside and curl, post or flag. He also lines up outside and runs those traditional routes and he catches some of those bubble screens. He’s just a good all around WR who works to perfect his craft. I can see him getting even better.

  17. Mike E. says:

Did Tunsil and Stanley both sit out the BP?

  18. jetsssuck says:

    http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/nfl/miami-dolphins/article2536948.html

Pouncey has never played guard in three previous NFL seasons but was a standout right guard for the University of Florida as a sophomore and junior before switching to center as a senior, succeeding twin brother Maurkice.

Pouncey, who took first team snaps Monday, said the decision about a potential move to guard ultimately would come down to his comfort level with the switch, coupled with what coaches believe is “best for the team.”

Though he hasn’t played guard in four years, Pouncey said guard “is easier” than center.

“Guard’s my position,” he said. “I was kind of forced to play center when I got drafted. Guard’s been the position I’ve played my whole life. … Whatever position I’m playing, I’ll help the team. It’s coach [Joe] Philbin’s decision.”

  19. Tim Knight says:

Landry may be limited in some areas physically but most players have some limitations. His intangibles trump a lot of those physical limitations.

  20. Mike E. says:

    D

I’m a pretty old school guy. lol

  21. Randy says:

    jetssuck,
Boy, my memory is horrible because I could have sworn I remembered Pouncey and/or his agent saying he was going into the combine and the draft as a potential center. My bad, if I was mistaken.

  22. Tim Knight says:

The traditional X, Y and Z WRs are still prominent but you also have a 4th WR and TEs and RBs lining up all over the place as well. Teams play more spread and that’s why 3 LBs isn’t as crucial anymore because only 2 play most the time. Having pass rushers and 4 solid CBs is more important than a bunch of LBs.

  23. Randy says:

    jetssuck,
I knew he played guard in college, but I thought he came out saiying he wanted to play center…and the talk at the time was it was because centers make more money. I think he’s a smart guy and would play wherever they told him to play. Lol

  24. Randy says:

I don’t care where Landry plays as long as he produces. But, this offense needs to start threatening defenses down the seam and deep. If we can’t, teams will start containing Landry and his impact will decrease. 100 catches is great, but if we keep scoring 19 points a game, those 100 catches don’t matter much.

    • Tim Knight says:

We started doing that more with Stills and Parker down the stretch. This offense has a lot of potential if we can fix some things.

    • dbolt48 says:

OL injuries also hurt sing Cameron down the seam. He had to block more to protect Fox. First couple games of the year they pushed the seam with him frequently.

      What is an AFO?

  26. Mike E. says:

Cameron disappointed me big time in that regard Randy. 35 catches on 70 targets. He’s gotta do better than that.

    • Tim Knight says:

I have to say he and RT didn’t have the best of chemistry. It looked like they were often off by a couple of feet on a lot of passing plays. Some were on RT and some on JC where he didn’t play the ball well. But JC wasn’t a big part of the offense as a receiver. With what we signed him for he should have been a bigger part of what we were doing.

      • dbolt48 says:

It was weird, it seemed like they clicked in the Washington & Jax games then got worse as the season went along.

  27. Randy says:

We haven’t threatened the seam or deep consistently for…ahem….4 years. Lol

    • Tim Knight says:

It started late in the year. We hit on quite a few. RT was actually a top 10 deep passer his rookie year. It all changed when we went mostly spread and short and mid-range most of the time only attempting 1-2 deep shots per game. Hard to hit on them when you don’t really do it.

I bet we see more of it in 2016 under Gase. 🙂

    • dbolt48 says:

Those fat bastards have ruined everything😆

  28. Tim Knight says:

Dbolt, Cameron’s targets went down as the season went on due to him blocking more and not being a focal point. RT and him never really got it going.

    • dbolt48 says:

Yeah…it’s what I was saying. Seemed to be in a groove games 1&2 before he got punched in the nuts by the Jags safety…then he was limited vs the Bills and never really bounced back after that.

  45. The Flying Pig says:

What is the weights on that bench

    225?

  46. Tim Knight says:

So what do we currently have in cap space, $17-18M? I can’t find it. If so that’s huge. We could open up another $20M restructuring Suh and Wake and others.

    • D says:

Currently we are just barely in the positives. We are currently like 8 mil over with the carry over we are 1 mil under

    • steveccnv says:

The $8.4 mil figure is with the top 51, but the bottom 14 guys are at 1/2 mil each or less, and these guys won’t be on the team next yr. About 10 new rookies will take their places and 6 of those will make the min about 450,000. and the top 4 draftees will make roughly $6 mil. Then we have 4 guys that will be added as FAs from our guys like Miller and Matthews and Delmas and Shelby.

Add this up and that would subtract about $4 mil from the $8.4 we’re under, leaving $4.4. Adding in the 4 FAs that will put us at about $8 mil over (I’m thinking $3 mil per contract assuming Aponte does her typical low first yr figure). Another $18 mil to come off the cap when Suh restructures, so $10 mil under should be about right, for insurance and to carry over for next yr. This also assumes we aren’t paying OV $15 mil.

On top of all this I expect a good vet G to be signed in FA + a couple of others, the money would come from Releasing Jennings $4 mil, and Jordan $3.2, and Mitchell $2.5, and Wake/Cameron restructures.

      • steveccnv says:

Like I’ve been saying we can do just about whatever we want in FA, sans a big signing like OV, unless we can get him in for $8 mil or less (first yr cap not ave per yr).

I’m actually leaning towards him to break up the two party system. He’s a rogue grassroots movement that I think we may need in 2016. The world is very different now. Trump is a doer regardless of his indiscretions. All pols have skeletons in their closets.

Trump is not a right winger. He’s an independent business man. He is conservative and liberal in different areas.

He’s a 2016 presidential candidate. It’s a new age. I’m not saying he’s the person to lead us to greatness, but he might be the person to shake up Washington. It has to happen, the duopoly has run its course. It’s become a joke even though you can live a pretty good life in this country if you try.

This is what makes Myles Jack and Darron Lee attractive to teams.
More for Lee in this regard because his speed is faster than alot of WR and RB.
But Myles Jack anticipate offensive routes very well from what I’ve seen on film (alot better than Lee) and he’s expected to run a 40 time in the low 4.50 which is good enough as a defender trying to match up against some of these WR/RB on opposing teams.
Jack used to be a RB as well (which is why he probably anticipates so well) having played both LB/RB in his freshman year at UCLA

I like Conklin, but was really impressed with the Mich St. RT Kodi Kieler opposite him in the couple of Sparty games I saw @ season’s end. Kid was stonewalling the pass rush & also getting after it in the second level with run blocking.

  65. getterdone says:

Word is the Lions are that NFC North team interested in Conklin, but as a RT for them leaving the young Reiff to keep developing @ LT.

  66. getterdone says:

Oh well, guess Mike E or none else liked my FA LB thoughts. 😉

    • Tim Knight says:

Solid group. I think there is a good chance we add a vet LB and draft one high. Then they compete with the LBs we already have. It’s not that difficult to upgrade the position.

      • getterdone says:

Bout the way I see it too. Get a solid vet contributor, not looking for a star, but most of those I listed are under 30, so ya never know whop could really emerge in a defense suited for them.
Then as you say, draft one early with that ‘star’ potential that a unit needs.
We also have some young 2nd year bucks that could begin to emerge as Jelani Jenkins did.
We’ll be alright. I see a much better LB unit in 2016 than 2015. Got no where but to go up right? lol

    • D says:

Id be ok with Rey as an OLB pickup. Familiar with the coach and probably the defense we are going to run, decent coverage skills. I want to draft our MLB though. I still kind of like the idea of picking up Laurinaitis, and drafting an OLB but convincing myself Laurainitis may not be the same person he has been previously and maybe its picking up a guy on his way out instead of getting a guy to be part of our future.

      • getterdone says:

My thoughts exactly on Laryngitis. I think he’s in decline mode. Rams didn’t even attempt to keep him & are making a push to resign the young Barron.

  67. D says:

Drango just keeps on convincing me he is someone we should look to draft. 30 reps, 5.27 40, solid OL numbers so far.

    • getterdone says:

Yeah, we talked about him the other day. I had him in a mock. I know he’s a bit short in the arms, but as I said before, he could be a real good OG/LG for us, with the potential to develop to replace Albert in a couple years or at the very worst, be able to move to any tackle spot due to injury when he’s not playing OG.

      • D says:

His instincts, footwork, and first step are really good at LT, he does have rather short arms, but im not sure it would kill him because he does seem very adept at that position. I do agree with critics though he will be a bad ass OG. Kinda like Zach Martin i think he coulda cut it at LT as well but he was a sure fire OG prospect.

  68. Tim Knight says:

GD, Hewitt and Vigil have upside and I believe they will be a part of our LB corps and possibly one of them starts.

    • getterdone says:

Yeah, both have some nice length to them @ 6’2, both are near 240 with some quickness to play against the modern day spread offenses.

    ——————————————
mark Barron was previously a Safety and was so bad Tampa just cut him loose, he turned it around in St Louis. I feel similarly about Morris Claiborne who should be a cheap FA CB to take a shot on. I couldnt understand why Barron did so poorly in Tampa, he could really play in college. Guess Tampa was just using him wrong.

    • getterdone says:

Yeah, Barron is the Rams WLB @ 215lbs….LOL. But he racked up well over 100 tackles, had a couple sacks, 3 forced fumbles & like 5 PD’s.
But true, The Bucs been using a lot of people wrong, kinda like we’ve been. I knew as soon as Lovie Smith was hired there that his true colors would really show. he sucks, was never a fan!

  70. D says:

    Spriggs 31 reps BP and 4.85 40.

  71. D says:

These are a few players im really interested at OL for us in this draft.
    Sebastian Tretola 22 BP 5.39 40.
    Spencer Drango 30 BP 5.27 40.
Denver Kirkland 19 BP 5.46 40. (though not horrible, kinda disappointed in his BP numbers)
    Ryan Kelly 26 BP 4.93 40.
    Conner McGovern 33 BP 5.07 40.
    Jason Spriggs 31 BP 4.85 40.
    Landon Turner 30 BP 5.45 40.
    Christian Westerman 34 BP 5.17 40.

Some later round guys i have my eye on as well
    Fahn Cooper 19 BP 5.17 40.
    Jerald Hawkins 23 BP 5.20 40.
    Joe Dahl 28 BP 5.18 40.
John Theus DNP BP, 5.15 40.
Avery Young DNP BP, 5.35 40.

Never really have been sold on Cody Whitehair but most of the scouts disagree, so id consider him as well just wouldnt put him as a 2nd round target.

  72. Tim Knight says:

D, I don’t know much about Barron since he got to the NFL. I know he was drafted high a few years back. So he plays LB exclusively?

    • getterdone says:

The Rams moved him to WILL in 2014 & he started to make plays for them. They really like him. New breed of LB’s these days, as speed is needed with coverage ability. Teams use the hurry up or fast paced offense, hard to do substitutions, so the 2 down thumpers aren’t as much value as they used to be.

    • D says:

I think thats how the Rams used him. In TB he was a safety.

  73. The Flying Pig says:

I see you guys talking up Spence

You guys know he left Ohio State based on an addiction to ecstasy right?

    • D says:

he got busted several times for drug issues. To be kicked off Myer’s team and more specifically an Ohio State team, as a talented player, you have to be pretty bad lol. First think he did when he got to campus at western kentucky was get a public intoxication and disorderly conduct citation. He has a high potential of being Dion Jordan 2.0. His interviews at Senior Bowl left the evaluators thinking he was arrogant and defensive about his past not humbled and having learned from it. I would draft him. Let the Cowboys deal with that shit.

      • The Flying Pig says:

e actually went to rehab and I think Meyer set that up for him before transferring

He appeared to be a long way away from his problem in the last year

but I don’t think he should be a first rounder, no matter how talented he is

  74. D says:

Lines between safety an LB’er are kinda starting to blur these days. Barron at 6’2 and around 220 is in the mold of some of these modern LB types.

    • The Flying Pig says:

If you are below 225 you are a safety
if you are above you are a LB

      lol

Its definateley a blurred line now

Every time some one brings up a LBs size. my blood boils a little

      • D says:

Im not worried as much about weight as i am height just because of coverage. I think though if you are smaller and want to be a three down guy, the defense needs to scheme to move you around a little on run downs, maybe put you a little deeper, just behind the second line to give them time to see the play and attack before an OL has a chance to get hands on them and they have to be pretty strong upper body wise.

      • Tim Knight says:

I think the situation with Barron is unique, not a trend to lighter LBs. Most LBs in the NFL are 230+ and plenty are much bigger than that.

  75. getterdone says:

i never talked up Spense you Pig!
He reminds me of what we have in OV right now. Not a classic DE in a 4-3…IMO.

  76. D says:

Spence is a risk reward guy. Some teams are in a position where the risk isnt as high and its mostly reward making his talent more 1st round type. Other teams, like us, are not in that position and the risk is higher if he flops so we would have to be smarter about drafting him where the risk balances out more. I prefer we dont, but i think its going to take care of it for itself, there are several team that wont give a shit.

  77. Mike E. says:

GDP – Sorry bud. I got busy here at work, but honestly, I know you and D-Bolt want to pick up LB’s in FA, but I think we should draft them.

    • dbolt48 says:

I want 1 starting LB via FA and one from the draft.

    • Tim Knight says:

We’re all saying do both. I don’t discount Hewitt and Vigil as I think they have just as much upside as some of the mid round LBs people talk about. To me, they along with Jenkins are in the mix so add one from FA and draft one early. You don’t need 8 LBs in a 4-3, you need 5 game day LBs, 3 starters, 2 core guys for nickel and dime and some depth and STs.

I left Misi out because I feel there a good chance he’s a cap casualty.

  78. dbolt48 says:

I mentioned Spence….and yes I think he’s a completely viable option. The team would have to feel comfortable with their research. If he’s truly turned the corner this is a guy cut from the Von Miller & Cam Wake cloth with his explosiveness.

  79. getterdone says:

Piggy, I agree on the bright RED flags with Spence. We can’t afford back to back 1st round blunders @ DE. It has already caused a huge setback with Dion FF with Wake aging, injured, & very expensive.

    • getterdone says:

If Dion FF had worked out, been the guy many thought he’d be, then our DL would have looked a lot different, not only last year but this coming season as well.

    • The Flying Pig says:

I would be okay woth him in the 2nd round

but can you imagine if we take him with the 8th pick and he relapses and has to go to drug rehab

We just killed the 2016 draft with that pick if that happens
No way in the first, too recent, too dangerous
I just can’t take that risk if I am the Dolphins GM

I do believe he showed the past is behind in in the last year or so
but its still to risky a pick

    • dbolt48 says:

The reason I’m ok taking a chance on Spence???? He fucked up big time, but he came back and showed he still cared about playing football unlike Jordan. Now if he fails his combine drug test like Gregory then you take him off your board.

    ——————————-
Was just about to say just that, i would compare him pretty closely to Cam Wake. Its not a talent evaluation for me that says we need to wait, its a risk situation. I wouldnt draft him in the first round for us and i doubt very seriously he last much longer than bottom of the 1st.

  81. The Flying Pig says:

Jaylon Smith, IMO is a less riskier pick at #8 than Spence is

Imagine if our first two picks were Smith and Spence
We would be biting our nails all through Training Camp…lol

    • Tim Knight says:

Well Smith wouldn’t be participating in TC so we’d just be hoping that Spence didn’t show up at practice on one of these.

    • getterdone says:

      LMAO, yep!
I just don’t see a 1st time HC & GM getting behind those type of picks right now. They need something they can feel more comfy with so they can concentrate on the team as a whole.

      • Tim Knight says:

Tannenbaum’s 2nd year in Miami, a new GM and HC due to a bad season, yeah let’s take all kinds of fucked up risks. Not! LOL

    Reply

Mike, no prob bro. Samething happens here too.
Like Dbolt & Tim said, I’d like to see us draft a star potential LB early. But we could also use a vet FA LB, especially since Paysinger, Sheppard, & even Misi might be gone.

  83. D says:

I dont believe he showed his past is behind him…. The interviews and what was being reported as the vibe they got from those interviews at Senior Bowl doesnt show a humbled person, and those who are past drug addiction or putting partying over career usually have to be humbled by their mistakes to realize they need to change. Put him in party town USA and i think he returns to his old ways.

    • dbolt48 says:

Could be, but that’s up to the brain trust. I know if it was my neck on the line I’m taking Ragland at 8.

    • The Flying Pig says:

I’m not sure an interview has any bearing on whether a guy is over a drug addiction or not

I’m not sure humility is the issue here
      people can fake that

I think you just judge what he has shown over time
“show me” if you will, don’t tell me

I kind of suspect he is tired of talking about it. He publicly apologized to Ohio State. he didn’t make any secret about it. It was over a year ago now – He may be personally past it, and probably doesn’t want to talk about it

Which is the worst thing you can do at the combine, but it doesn’t mean he still has a problem

Most of his actions over the last year or so, demonostarte that it is behind him

Still very risky though, its too recent to think anything less IMO

  84. The Flying Pig says:

    Tim

    I gotta tell you
if we started the 2016 season with Vigil, Hewitt or Misi as our best option in any of the three LBs positions, then IMO we failed the offseason

I’m fine with those competing for jobs with newcomers, but we really need at least 2 new quality LBs on this team

I really think we even need to push Jenkins if possible
so I would like to see 3 new LBs when TC begins

    • Tim Knight says:

I said sign one in FA and draft one high. Jenkins played hurt all year and it showed. He was really good in 2014.

      • The Flying Pig says:

He young and has produced before
So I don’t rule Jenkins out

but we might be able to do better

I know we can do better than Hewitt, Vigil an Misi
and I think, without question our teams needs a talent upgrade at LB
I also think we whiffed bigtime on that last season relying on UDFA pick ups by the end of the year

IMO the lack of talent at LB is the biggest reasons we failed in 2015
Some people say OL, but I think LB is the key thing here

So any time I see any mention of Misi, Vigil or Hewitt as a possibility of one of our starting LBs I gotta say:

      • dbolt48 says:

        Pig,
We had 2 of the worst units in the entire league in regards to OL & LBs. You can’t win that way.

  85. Tim Knight says:

    I think Spence is a better fit as a 3-4 OLB than a 4-3 DE, that’s all.

  86. dbolt48 says:

@nashmax73: RB Derrick Henry just busted out a 37″ vertical at 248lbs. Good lawd…

    • Tim Knight says:

      That’s impressive.

    • getterdone says:

I’m not so certain he’s gonna be a star in the NFL unless he can run lower. Rare to have another Eddie George type specimen do well as an NFL RB.

    • The Flying Pig says:

      Henry is really talented
but every time I watch him
I just see enormous holes for him to run through
not a guy who creates anything

for a guy so big he doesn’t really run so hard either
Jordan Howard (much smaller) runs a lot harder IMO

  87. sb7mvp says:

    Drive by over.

  88. Tim Knight says:

Piggy, I never said Misi, Hewitt and Vigil will be the starters. I think only one of them start and I’m not sure Misi will be here.

But I do find it funny how fans get all excited about UDFAs and then when we find some we act like they don’t exist.

  89. Tim Knight says:

Piggy, our secondary had some really bad games as well. So DE (lack of pass rush too often), LB and DB all had issues.

Our OL was a big reason our offense was inconsistent and didn’t score enough. I know RT was responsible as well but Lazor was also part of the problem.

We didn’t go 6-10 because of our LBs.

  90. getterdone says:

Mike E, now’s your chance to pull the chiffon robe out of the closet & lure the Kapersniffer to Miami? 😉

NFL.com’s Rand Getlin reports Colin Kaepernick has “requested permission from the team to seek a trade.”
The news comes the same day coach Chip Kelly insisted Kaepernick wants to remain with the 49ers. It’s not the first Kap trade rumor this offseason, as the New York Daily News (somewhat improbably) reported earlier this month Kap wanted out of San Francisco and that the Jets were his preferred destination. April 1 looms as something of a deadline, as that’s the day Kap’s $11.9 million salary becomes guaranteed. Any trade would require some sort of restructuring of Kap’s “seven-year, $126.97 million” contract, which runs through 2020.

  91. dbolt48 says:

@NickKlopsis: Derrick Henry posted a 10-10 broad jump and a 37-inch vert. At 247 pounds.

Sounds like Robet Nkemdiche has admitted to being drunk when he fell out the hotel window, but denounced the synthetic marijuana charge & said other teammates including Tunsil were in the room where it was found.

@NFLFilmStudy: @BBB10en Basically Nkemdiche outed Tunsil because they were at a party together when Nkemdiche fell out of the window
