Anyone else watching Penn St/Iowa game. …Really enjoying this matchup. Barkley is a beast and the best player I’ve watched this season. Also, love this Josey Jewell guy from Iowa. …Blue collar kind of LB.
    *
Great game. Barkley is the most complete RB I’ve seen in college football in a long time. Even though I’m a huge PSU fan, I couldn’t help but think of Jewell in a Fins uniform next year. Gesicki (PSU TE) didn’t have a great game, but I want him here next year as well.

OMG. I was going set up the game day blog last night, actually started getting stuff for it, but was really tired so decided to wait til this morning. I kind of slept in this morning, got up and made breakfast for my son AND got dinner prepped for later and remembered I still needed to do the game day thing. The crazy thing is, I have those same graphics saved on my laptop to use. When I just clicked on here, I was thinking, did I do that and not remember? Had to look and see who posted it. I’m totally losing my mind! lol

I’ll get Howie’s List updated in a minute.

    Let’s Go Dolphins!!!!

4 of or first 5 games on the road is BS. When are we going to get to use our Sept advantage again? Even without the TB game being postponed it would have been 4 of the first 6 games away and the heat is not an advantage against TB. We FINALLY got a late bye, but lose it. Next year we will probably get a week 4-5 bye again. SMH.

    OVERCOME DOLPHINS!

  12. olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

SO TRUMP wants to fire all players who kneel or sit during the national anthem? If that’s true, then we have totally lost the First Amendment and the freedoms that go with it. What Donald Trump is advocating is illegal, plain and simple.
    ———————
NOW LET me be REAL CLEAR on this issue. I STAND, and will continue to stand and remove my hat, every time the anthem is played. That’s a protection the First Amendment guarantees for me. At the same time I WILL NOT adopt the philosophy so many have today: to wit, “You have a right to your opinion as long as you agree with me.” Those who support THAT point of view ARE NOT GOOD AMERICANS. They might as well move to China or North Korea or Iran. We ARE the land of diversity, whether some like it or not. It very well might be our greatest asset!
    ———————
DONALD TRUMP IS asking America to boycott the NFL because the NFL is standing up for freedom of expression. This is a war Donald Trump can not win. Not now. Not ever. It’s clear to me that Mr. Trump does not believe the old statement “Although I may disagree with what you say, I’ll defend to the death you’re right to say it!” He PROVED that by not serving his country when called to serve (like Bill Clinton and some others I could mention). He was, and is, a very clever draft dodger who talks big and acts puny. I HAVE NO RESPECT FOR THOSE PEOPLE.
    ——————–
I WAS one of those people who DID NOT support the way the Republican Party and the Democratic Party ran the Vietnam War. I predicted the wrong policies pursued by LBJ and Tricky Dick would cost us dearly. They did. But NOT FOR ONE SECOND did the thought of NOT serving my country cross my mind. I really did offer to “defend to the death your right to say it.” I, and millions more just like me, stepped forward when we were called to serve our beloved country. That’s WHY I will also stand, remove my hat, and smile when the national anthem is played.
    ——————-
Those who believe differently from me HAVE A RIGHT TO THEIR OPINION!! They have a right to protest what they believe are unfair or racist actions without “being fired!” Why some people can NOT understand this is beyond me. Perhaps it is because they don’t WANT to understand it. Those people may dream of an America that is totally white, conservative and Christian with NO DISAGREEMENT being permitted. Other may dream of an exclusively minority country where religion is outlawed and communism is the only acceptable guiding light.

THEY are welcome to their opinions. But both are terribly misguided and un-American. They are un-American because they will neither tolerate nor permit a different point of view.
    —————-
TO BE FAIR, I, too, have a streak of intolerance. I CAN’T STAND THE NEW YORK JETS!! –Oh, well, nobody is perfect.

He has no wife-type family to go home to, so he went to his “family.”
He had to evacuate his new home. He had to go somewhere.
Many players go back to be on the sidelines of their college teams.
Steeler town is better than him getting busted for prostitution or a bar brawl.

I sort of agree that he likely went to Pittsburgh to visit his friends from the Steelers and wasn’t necessarily thinking of it in the light that it was another team’s facility during the season.

As for the no wife/family, I believe it was reported that the reason he wanted to get back to Pittsburgh was to see his baby mama and the baby so there was some type of ‘family’ situation there.

Strange. We’ll probably never know the whole story.

  20. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

It might be true that the baby and mother is why Timmons wanted to go back to PA,
or it may be a damage-control type statement he concocted later.

It might be true that his child’s mother angered him.
That is different from the “going to see family” reason.

and there is no reason to go AWOL short of verifiable evidence of harm
already perpetrated on a family member, as flying into town from 2000 miles away
is not as logical as simply calling 911.

In other words, how did he find out about whatever made him angry?
He must have had communication with the woman.
So just call her back up and talk it out or just ignore her for a few days
till everyone calms down. (and call 911, as above)

Just go to work and do your job.
Any other behavior is unprofessional or even mentally unstable.

  31. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I understood why Trump was elected, but we cannot allow the US to fall under a dictatorship of one man or a dictatorship of one philosophy or a dictatorship that says “either you believe one way and never say a word of disagreement or you will be fired from your job.”

Firing people for politics is an extremely dangerous activity which strikes down the core values on which this country was founded. The logical extension is violence against people for disagreeing with the ruling party. The King used to be able to say “off with his head.” That is why we were forced to declare our independence.

  32. herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

I understand the players are protesting something and it’s something I can’t relate to. I think the way they are choosing to protest is not helping their cause and is actually hurting it. I also think the President needs to leave this alone. What he has said is like pouring gasoline on a fire. As President, he needs to learn that while he may have personal opinions on some matters, it may not be in the best interest of the country to say them or tweet them. His comments are likely going to cause a lot more players kneeling than ever…to protest HIM.

The fact is, living in this country gives both sides the right to speak out on issues and protest when they perceive an injustice. It works for both sides, not just the one you agree with.

It’s interesting to me that the same people who are so defensive about any hint of an attack on the 2nd Amendment have no qualms about denying other people their rights under the 1st Amendment.

This to me shows that it is not about rights or even the sacred Constitution. They just want what they want, and they want everybody who disagrees with them to be ridiculed or punished.

  35. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

Exactly, it works for both sides, so why is everyone in an uproar because Donald expressed his opinion?

    • herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

Because ‘Donald’ is the President. His comments are personally attacking others who are exercising their right to protest. He isn’t protesting the NFL for some perceived injustice. He is trying to influence retaliation against the players who are exercising their right to protest. There is a difference.

    • naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

He did not express his opinion on an issue.

If he had just said, “I think police work is dangerous and difficult. Sometimes mistakes are made as in any job, and we need to make sure that they are at a minimum and never caused by racism. At the same time, we need to protect police from criminals attacking them,” then i would stand up and applaud that.

Instead he said, “Hurt those who disagree with me.”

That is like is a violent dictatorship, which is illegal in the US per the Constitution.

That said, the President should have stayed out of it, knowing it was sure to cause more to do it, just to spite him. I don’t like it because of what they are protesting. It has nothing to do with equality. They are protesting the majority of society’s lack of acceptance of criminal behavior, misogyny, incivility, and general disrespectful behavior. They want to blame law enforcement instead of accepting responsibility for the culture they have created.

As for North Korea, the United States cannot continue a policy of appeasement. That is why we are where we are – a madman with nukes, the will, and the desire to us them against us. You can’t use reason with psychopaths. The only thing they understand is force.

I’m wishing for a TO on the jests opening drive. Our D is due for one.

  52. Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

On paper today’s game looks ‘easy’… but these division games are scary cuz record usually is irrelevant … Fins need to play hard! I’m looking for some serious run yardage early to get in Jets’ heads after their awful game against Raiders (a “here we go again” deflation).

  53. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I don’t know what to expect today… it could either be a YUGE blowout (us over them), or it could be a very close game (us over them). Take advantage of their depleted run-Defense, and we’re going to control the clock (closer game than an outright blowout). That, and Cutler is not yet fully acclimated to his new teammates.

    Phins 31, stej 17

  54. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Run on the first play. If we have good success on the first play on the ground (5-10 yards) line up in run formation and strike them over the top with play action. Burn them early and often.

  55. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The Dolphins should feel right at home today at the Meadowlands. It’s a hot summer like day.

  56. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

WOW Jagoffs put up 44 on the Ravens? Just wow.

  57. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I want to see our guys dominating on their blocks. The Oline, the TE’s the RB’s and the WR’s. Block the shit out of the Jets. Dominate them physically all over the field. Play to the whistle and frustrate them so they act out and get personal foul penalties. DO IT!

  58. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

SMACK THEM IN THE MOUTH! WHEN THEY CRY SMACK THEM AGAIN!

  59. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

My best wish for this game is in the 4th Q the place is empty except for agua folks chanting “Let’s go Dolphins”

  61. D's avatar D says:

  62. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:
