Week 8 – Game 7 – Dolphins @ Ravens

Baltimore-Ravens-vs-Miami-Dolphins-NFL-Matchup-jpg_734882_ver1.0_1280_720

The Dolphins will have a short time to celebrate this week after an exciting come from behind victory at Hard Rock stadium in Miami.  QB Matt Moore led the comeback against the Jets down 28-14 after Jay Cutler was sacked and was later to be found to have multiple cracked ribs.  The Dolphins prevailed with Moore at the helm, winning the game 31-28 in the final minute of the game.  Fest games don’t get much better than that, although I have to admit, last year’s Buffalo comeback win 28-24 was pretty damn close!

NFL: New York Jets at Miami Dolphins

So Cutler is out, and now all of you who can’t stand Cutler get your wish.  I caution you though, be careful what you wish for!  No slight to Moore, but Jay Cutler was actually playing well in this game.  Yeah, detractors will point out the pass to Stills (Which was a completion BTW), or the tipped pass for an INT (It happens to every QB), or that we were down 28-14.  I don’t know any more than any of you who want Moore over Cutler, but I got a guy on my side who counts a lot more than you knuckleheads, and that’s HC Adam Gase.

I’ll say this, Moore looked very confident, very comfortable, and moved the team well.  There was a definite difference in the tempo, Moore ran things smoothly, as if he’s been here for years, well, because he has.  I liked what I saw, but I also remember the Matt Moore that makes a great throw one play, and the next tries to force one in there and it’s going the other way.  Matt Moore is a capable NFL QB, but is he sustainable?  I’m not sure if we’ll find that out, because I think he may only get a few games (3-4) before Cutler is healthy enough to play again, and at that point, I do hope it’s a difficult decision for Adam Gase to make, because that would mean Moore has been playing great.  If Moore struggles, there will be no question at all that Cutler will be the QB when healthy.

DolphinsJets_57

How about that D-E-F-E-N-S-E ?  Yeah, they struggled a bit against the Jets, but came up big at the end of the game, shutting down the Jets on their last 3 possessions, coming up with the HUGE Bobby McCain INT on the last of the 3 to enable the Dolphins to kick the game winning field goal.  Cam Wake now has 6 sacks in 6 games, which puts him on pace for 16 for the season, which would be a career high for Wake at age 35.  Isn’t that somethin’?  The defense has been getting contributions from a lot of players, the D-line, and I mean more than just Suh, including Phillips, Godchaux, Hayes, Taylor, Harris, Fede, and of course, the LB’s, Alonso, Timmons and even Maualuga.  Reshad Jones is back, and is exactly what we need back there in the secondary.  I can’t wait to see the tandem of Jones and McDonald in Week 9.  Nate Allen hasn’t been awful, but he’s a complete non-factor.  The two young CB’s have had their ups and downs, tank had a rough outing last week, but he’s going to have those.  I’m very pleased with the tandem of Tankersley and Howard.  Next year, hopefully Lippett is back too, and Bobby McCain made a huge play and has been playing better, so things are looking up.

The Ravens have been decimated by injuries, hit even harder than our own Dolphins team, which has seen it’s share for sure.  Joe Flacco has struggled this season, with only 5 TD’s and 8 INT’s.  Son’s boy Breshad Perriman and Mike Wallace are the wideouts, Ben Watson is the TE, and the ravens feature a RB by committee approach, with a combo of Javorius Allen, Alex Collins and Terrance West.  Allen is their leading receiver with 31 receptions, and also has the most carries with 82 for 301 yards and 1 TD.  Terrell Suggs still leads the defense, in his hybrid role of LB and pass rushing DE.  The Ravens are allowing 21.1 PPG while our Dolphins defense 18,7 PPG.  On offense, the Ravens are averaging 18.6 while the Dolphins a paltry 15.3.

It was another fantastic FEST, and I hope that more of you guys and girls can attend the next one.  It’s a great time to be had, and I actually miss all of you who partied with us last week.  If you can find a way to make it, I can assure you won’t regret it!  Dilly Dilly!

The Ravens are coming off a tough loss to the Vikings, 26-14, but those pesky Ravens seem to always give us a tough time.  Last season, the Ravens spanked us 38-6. In 2015, we eeked out a 15-13 win.  In 2010, 2013 and 2014, The Ravens beat us and almost all of those games severely hurt our playoff chances.  No other way to put it, but I freaking HATE the Ravens!  Besides our division rivals, there is no other NFL team I hate more, so I hope Matt Moore brings his “A” game, and the defense does as well!

MIAMI 23 – BALTIMORE 16

This article is a great attempt by Armando to be negative when it was a team decision. But adding the Carson Wentz addition for the Eagles has nothing to do with that trade. So the Eagles couldn’t have pulled it off if they didn’t have the 8th pick but only the paltry 13th? BS, they would have still been able to make it, just would have had to sweeten the pot a bit more. They were all in for a QB. And that said, they had no idea they were getting Wentz until the LAR chose Goff.

The Dolphins didn’t value Maxwell anymore, period! But nice try Armando with all your speculation. LOL

This is how someone loses credibility when they say stuff like that or that we are going to trade Jarvis Landry

    _________________________
Just because YOU think Tannehill is a better quarterback doesn’t make it true. Foles was fucked by Kelly and then by Fisher. Foles is a better leader, sees the field better, has a better arm, can read a D better and has better ball placement. When it comes to quarterbacks in the NFL the number one thing that matters is draft position and Miami has wasted 5 years on a mediocre quarterback because Tannehill was taken #8 in the first round.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Just because you think this doesn’t make it true either. Works both ways. Everything you said here is opinion.

Why are you so fixated on Tannehill anyway, just to rile everyone up while being a broken record? We get it you don’t like Tannehill, some people agree with you and some don’t just like every other topic we discuss. The end!

  7. Last year when we played the Ravens the Ravens db’s told the announcing crew they didn’t fear Tannehill because he couldn’t read a D and had trouble with his progressions. Then they beat us handily. At least they won’t be able to say that about our qb tomorrow night.

  9. Jimmy Graham was with the Saints for 5 seasons and scored 51 tds and was traded to the Seahawks. Don’t tell me Jarvis Landry can’t or won’t be traded. Landry is nowhere near as valuable to Miami as Graham was to the Saints.

    • D's avatar D says:

Even if you believe that to be true, and im not sure how you can believe Landry isnt important to the Dolphins for a ton of reasons, then he wouldn’t be as valuable to other teams as well, and therefore wouldn’t be worth trading. You cant say he has trade value and not admit he has value, that’s pretty awful logic. You really should give the Landry trade stuff a rest.

      • #1 reason for a Landry trade would be to get something for him rather than just let him walk. He won’t be signed before the end of the season and they sure as hell ain’t paying him #1 wr money because he’s not worth it. So, the trade makes sense in that respect.

  10. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Great write but LMAO at “Dilly Dilly!”……says the guy who didn’t know what that meant.

And I was cool with how Tankersley played. Yeah he got hit for a couple, but was always right close there.

  11. D's avatar D says:

Tim on top of what ya said above……

“That trade improved Philadelphia’s draft position by five slots in the NFL draft’s first round while also sending Kiko Alonso to Miami. And, yes, Alonso has gone from being a throw-in part of the deal to a great addition for the Dolphins so far. He’s a major contributor on defense.”

Alonzo most likely was the target player not the throw in lol, Maxwell was a player they took most likely to get them to deal Alonzo. We severely helped their cap situation taking Maxwell off their hands, Alonzo was still on a rookie contract. Not only does that article stink of negative spin, it stinks of idocracy because there is no way Maxwell was the target guy in that trade.

Mando also omits the part that he brought up when Wallace was cut, sometimes a player becomes a locker room cancer. Maybe they aren’t getting to start and they feel like they should. They can respond by complaining and making it a coaching issue, or they can accept it and correct their play and turn it into a positive. His response to the benching probably eventually led to being cut, my bet is he turn negative about it and they didnt want that attitude spreading in the locker room at a time that’s pretty critical for us to remain positive about things.

    • Sure as shit Maxwell was the target guy in that trade.

      • D's avatar D says:

Our weakness that year was LB, and there were no LB’s in FA or the draft that particularly stood out. On the flipside there were multiple CB’s to choose from in draft and FA that would have come cheaper or roughly the same price as Maxwell.

That was a move to get a young player at the expense of a cap hit to take a guy they desperately wanted to get rid of. If we wanted Maxwell, and Kiko was the “throw in” then we wouldn’t have had to trade away the first, we could have given them almost nothing because they were desperate to get rid of Maxwell. They wanted Kiko, and that why we had to up the ante. The other way around does not make sense.

      • Nope. They wanted a press corner. Alonso wasn’t even much of a consideration. He missed an entire year before going to Philly and having a down year. He sure as hell wasn’t the target in the trade. They weren’t even interested in extending him at the time.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

My memory ain’t what it used to be, but I thought we were desperate for DB help when this trade went down, and Alonzo was a bonus.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

We were and we wanted to add a press corner which they thought Maxwell was. This year when asked to play press he backed off and fucked the defense up. That’s why he was benched. Alonso is the better player anyway. Maxwell didn’t pan out the way they expected and Alonso did. Moving right along. 🙂

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Oh, I agree about moving on. We now have a lot of young talent at DB, Maxwell was gone next year regardless, and he isn’t playing well with others. Bye-bye. Alonso has been, by far, the best part of that trade.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Agreed on Alonso being a big part of the deal and now he’s a fixture and playing well being rewarded with a new deal. Maxwell played well for a stretch last year and helped us make the playoffs and this year he was playing poorly and was injured once again. All he cost us was some cap space that will come off the books next year whether he remained on the team or not. He wasn’t going to back next year anyway. The team decided to move on probably for the reasons you stated. They appear to be okay with the other 7 corners we have on the team.

If we do get injuries at corner, it’s not like Maxwell was going to be equal in quality because he already wasn’t. The Pats release guys for reasons like this all the time. The team has their reasons for it and the media should just move on.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Whatever the exact plan was at the time, there is not doubt that Maxwell’s main consideration was his salary (they wanted him out of town) and that Kiko was a major plus in the trade math.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

When we made the deal I was more excited about Alonso than Maxwell. We also still ended up with Tunsil at #13.

I’m not a huge Tanny supporter as I think he’s mediocre, but I call BS here. If they said something that specific and derogatory, it would be printed, but I can’t find anything to back that up.

  13. D's avatar D says:

We did need CB help and he was a press CB which is what Joseph wanted, BUT again, Philly was int he position of wanting to offload him and his contract, so how many deals have you seen in the NFL like that where a person give us their first round, even in a first round exchange for a guy they knew the other teams were in the position that they had to trade him because cutting him would cost too much.

Again, if we wanted Maxwell, and Kiko, it only makes sense that we would have to up the ante by exchanging a higher position 1st, something with a pretty significant trade value hit, IF Maxwell was not the target. We would have just told them, nah, and walked away from the deal, for us to be willing to meet those demands, we had to really want Kiko, and therefore he would have been the target, and we might have also liked adding Maxwell as part of the deal, but he was the throw in, as in here and you take some of our baggage, hope it works out for you.

    • D's avatar D says:

We were targeting CB in that draft as well, in fact from what i heard Hargreaves then Apple were our first round targets at CB, before Tunsil fell, Howard became the target after, so we were already planning on adding youth in the secondary, we had been all about Lippett as well prior to the draft, so he was also a target. I dont see a team there looking for Maxwell as any sort of long term solution, i see a team prepping for the day they could cut Maxwell and get out of that contact.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Totally agreed! That time has come with the emergence of Tank. McCain has solidified himself as the slot/nickel and there are other corners the team seems to like as well. This is all part of the team wanting to build a core through the draft while adding other pieces through FA and trades.

  14. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Kong, like I replied to Stanger, we still landed Tunsil at #13. He’s not at an elite level at least not now but he does have that type of ability. It takes a few years for these young OL to develop. We’ve seen it for a bunch of years now with highly drafted OL. Tunsil is already good, just not great. Yet! 🙂

    • D's avatar D says:

He was the best HS recruit of all OL’s in the nation, he was the number 1 LT in all of college football while at Ole Miss, he is an elite player, he just needs to get back in the swing of playing LT. He is having to learn the speed of the game from a new position and the last few games we have played he has been pretty solid. His run blocking has been really good all year, its only the first few games that his pass pro had some weaknesses but looks to me like he has adjusted pretty well.

Obviously the big thing to be called “elite” is being consistently good, and all so far he has proved is he was able to hit the ground running, he picked up a new position right out the gate and played really well. I think this already shows he is a NFL caliber career starter now he just needs to get back to when he has wound up and every stop along the way, the top.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Like Albert said about him, he’s never been around a young OL this good in his career. Tunsil is another part of building a core through the draft.

  15. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The NFL trade deadline is Oct. 31 at 4 p.m. ET. We’ll see what happens. My guess is we don’t trade Landry.

  17. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

  18. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

D-line is pretty banged up, Phillips and Branch are questionable, although Fede looks good to play

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

They both participated on a limited basis in practice today – Branch (knee) and Phillips (ankle). Questionable is the new probable but it is a short week so that might actually be a little more questionable. LOL

Burke said he’s seen enough in Harris that he could set the edge in the run game and play more snaps if Branch couldn’t go. Fede is usually active for STs anyway and he can give you a lunchpail type effort if needed. Hayes would probably play more snaps as well. If Phillips can’t go Taylor has already shown he can do a solid job.

  19. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Kiko is probably the best all-around LB we’ve had since #54. Kiko was outright snubbed in not getting a Pro-Bowl bid last year from the MIKE. He’s even MORE dangerous as the WILL.

13 turnovers in his first 3 seasons (7 INTs and 6 FRs) for Kiko? Even the mighty Urlacher can’t compare in his first 3 seasons (11 turnovers: 6 INTs and 5 FRs).

Zach in his first 3 seasons: 7 INTs and 2 FRs.

Miss me with that BS about Kiko… he’s a certified STUD and he’s only going to get better with time, this being his 4th year.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I underestimated him big time. I figured he wouldn’t be able to stay healthy, and that he was undersized, but he’s a serious player. We’re a much better team with him, no doubt. You can see how much better he is with better talent around him.

There is a reason why Tannehill was a starting QB in this league and Foles was having a hard time making a roster. As I said this is how one loses credibility

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Our FO and coaches have done a good job keeping us going using multiple QBs. I think they know a thing or two about the position.
      8-5 Tannehill
      3.5-2 Cutler
      2.5-1 Moore

It’s not easy to win like that. If our defense wasn’t as good as it’s been this year, it would be worse though.

  21. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

    Another perspective.
Here’s a comment I just read. This is not written by me!
I have been excited about our defense so far this year so let’s see what PFF says about them. PFF ratings on our LBer’s: Timmons ranked 7th in NFL with 84.3. Maualuga not ranked because he doesn;t have enough snaps but grades 77.5. Alonso ranked 48th with a grade of 53.1 (his pass coverage grade is killing him). Mike Hull ranked 66th with a 41.6 grade. Chase Allen also not ranked because of lack of snaps with a grade of 77.0. So you can see what Timmons and Maualuga has brought to the defense and since they have played together we are 3-0.

Now let’s look at our CB’s since we just let Maxwell go. First of all, PFF graded Maxwell at 39.2. That being said, Xavien Howard grades out our lowest of all CB’s including Maxwell at 37.6 and ranked 110th out of 112 CB’s. Verner grades at 41.9 slightly better than both. But then you have Tankersley grading at 73.0 and ranked 63rd and Bobby McCain grading at 79.6 and ranked 41st. So is Howard really our future? Lippett may replace him next year.

The DL which has had it’s moments this year grades from PFF like this: The DE’s are led by Wake at 86.8 ranked 11th. William Hayes right behind Wake, grades 85.2 and ranked 14th. Then comes our rookie Harris who is at 76.5 and ranked 45th, Fede is next at 73.8 and last is Branch at 67.6 and ranked 78th. I believe Wake is playing his best year this year. At DT, the best PFF graded DT is who else but Suh at 89.1 and ranked 6th. Our two rookies Taylor graded a 78.4 and Godchaux graded a 71.8. Last week I couldn’t understand why our defense wasn’t clicking as it normally does. Well that was Phillips first game back and Taylor our second best rated DT was not even dressed. Phillips grades out at a dismal 42.2.

Last is the safeties. Reshad Jones is graded by PFF at 84.0 and ranked 16th in the NFL. Michael Thomas grades a 74.6 and Nate “the not so great” Allen grades at 41.0 ranked 79th out of 86 safeties. I still cannot figure out why Allen starts over Thomas who started last year.

So if you look at the top guy in each postion you have Timmons, McCain, Wake, Suh and Jones. That is the core of our defense. Right behind them behind are Maulauga, Tankersley, Hayes, Taylor and Thomas. Two rookies making their mark. So tomorrow night this defense needs to stand up and make sacks, INTs and stops. I would love to see a shutout on National TV. Then maybe they will believe and won’t classify us as a pretender.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

PFF is all over the place. Alonso is good in coverage. PFF doesn’t know what the play-call was and what may have broke down. They also compare apples to oranges. It’s a flawed system they have. Gave up on them a couple of years ago.

Usually. I take Sundays off. We are closed Sun and Mon. Monday is easy, usually 8-10hrs doing orders, cleaning and maintenance. Rest of week is balls to the walls. Can’t find anybody that wants to work anymore. Everybody, every business has now hiring on their windows. It’s crazy. When you do get somebody, about 80% of them are worthless. They know they can just walk next door and get a new job. We’ve talked to several other people in our field and they have same problem. We couldn’t even find anyone to frickin wash dishes for $15/hr . How crazy is that? Dishes! It’s nuts.

That said we hang on to our people. We have a great bunch of employees, just not enough of them. Lol

  46. So, not only does Philly have a better starting qb than the Dolphins, meaning better than Tannehill, their backup, Nick Foles, is better than our backup as well.

  47. So think about this for a moment. Jarvis has an 8.1 ypc avg on 68 targets, 45 catches and everyone thinks he’s great. Elite for some. But, put Kenny Stills in the same position. Have Stills run those short routes and Jarvis run the long routes and see what happens.
My bet is not only does Stills do as well reception-wise as Jarvis but as had a much better avg ypc than 8.1.
I also would bet Jarvis wouldn’t be anywhere near as successful as Stills is running the routes Stills runs because he can’t get the separation Stills gets on the intermediate and deep routes and would take too long to run a deeper route.
But, people want to pay him #1 money. Interesting.

I assume you are being a smart ass…

But we are really just making observations about Cutler

If everything on this blog is bound by that standard of never discussing the players performances (whether or not in step with the coaches) than we have nothing to talk about here

That’s a very nihilistic comment by you. I’m now questioning whether this blog means nothing or whether anything I ever do means anything… 😛

  51. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Our guy asked the Ravens sportswriter some questions:
DW: What’s been the problem with the Ravens offense?
RW: I can really sum this up by saying ‘everything’ but that feels like a cop out here. The biggest problem is just a lack of playmakers. As much as fans were excited for the combination of Mike Wallace, Breshad Perriman and Jeremy Maclin catching passes, none of them have been able to get open or catch the ball consistently. Since they can’t get open, routes have had to get shorter and quicker to try and open things up and keep quarterback Joe Flacco from making risky throws. But with everything staying close to the line of scrimmage, it’s equated to a dreadful yard-per-catch average. Further, it means defenses can choke up to the line of scrimmage, which only makes it harder to run the ball as well.

Combine that with injuries to every position and you have an offense that can’t get first downs, much less find the end zone with a map, compass and a sherpa. This is ultimately what happens when you continually invest in the defense through the draft and try and patch offensive holes with older players near the end of their careers.

  52. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I actually think we’ll franchise Landry and then agree on a deal. He is going to make big money in this league somewhere. He has an impressive skill set, but his best attributes are competitiveness, toughness and clutch play. He’s also very versatile. He’s like the top of the line Swiss Army knife. 🙂

  53. Randy's avatar Randy says:

I’m asking because I can’t remember, but was Kiko going to become a FA when we made that trade?
    ***
I never liked the trade…still think it was a waste. Kiko has played good…but not great. Last year he was inconsistent but more good than bad. He was often a liability against the run. It’s no coincidence that our run defense is much improved with him not manning the middle. He made an okay number of tackles for a LB, but far too many were down the field.
    ^^^
So, we got a little above average LB…so far…and a CB who isn’t’t even on the team now. I don’t see what the upside was for us. Kiko is not hard to replace…and Maxwell is gone. Saying it was a good trade because we ended up with Tunsil has nothing to do with evaluating the trade. We could have had Tunsil with or without the trade as things turned out.
    ^^^
It’s all old news, but I still don’t think it was a good trade.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Totally disagree with you on Kiko. He prevents so many big plays from happening with a non-stop motor trailing plays. He also stuffs plays within 5 yards. Not sure why you’re so lukewarm on him. I don’t see what you see at all.

Kiko was a UFA the year after we traded for him. We re-signed him this offseason.

  54. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

DW: The Ravens have been typically known for their defense in the past but they have given up 1,017 yards through seven games, most in the NFL. What’s been the reason?

RW: The offense being so bad has impacted the rest of the team in all reality. With the offense going three-and-out consistently, it’s put more snaps on the defense, which is wearing them down quicker.

Baltimore was never going to be great against the run this season and looking back, you can see evidence of that from Week 1, they just got a pass thanks to beating up on the hapless Ohio teams. And with each week, we’re seeing teams concentrate on running right up the middle with great success, even when the Ravens are expecting it. That’s forced them to be far more aggressive in stopping the run, which in turn has left them open for some bigger passing plays.

Much like the offense, it’s everything that’s at fault for Baltimore’s defensive issues this season. Injuries, older players likely beginning their downward slide, being on the field too much, no pass rush and a now suspect front-seven all means that offenses can pick apart the Ravens with the run game early and then catch them with misdirection and play-action plays in the second half.

  55. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

DW: Who has been the best Ravens player this season?
RW: Really, everyone has been dreadful at some point, but there are some bright spots still. Running back Alex Collins has routinely performed, even though he had a bit of a fumble problem earlier in the year. Center Ryan Jensen is still coming into his own, but he’s bringing an aggressiveness to the offensive line that has been missing with Marshal Yanda on injured reserve. Linebacker C.J. Mosley is trying his hardest to keep the defense together, but can’t do it all himself. And both cornerbacks Brandon Carr and Jimmy Smith have been solid this year in helping lock down the secondary.

Outside of those players, it’s been a bunch of injuries that have made life difficult on everyone. Either players are hurt, or things are moving so much around them that it’s impossible to get any consistency

  56. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

DW: What’s your biggest concern for the Ravens heading into Thursday’s game against the Dolphins?
RW: The biggest concerns have to come on offense. Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings, the Ravens had to start three wide receivers that had yet to start a game all season long thanks to injuries to Perriman and Maclin and then Wallace getting knocked out of the game with a concussion. What was already an anemic offense suddenly had to try and get a passing attack going with receivers that were either late-round picks, undrafted players or were signed just a few days prior to playing.

While the offense could get back Maclin this week, I wouldn’t think either Perriman or Wallace will be suiting up given how nasty their concussions looked at the time. That means we should see the same thing we saw against the Vikings . . . an offense that can’t effectively move the ball and score points.

  57. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

    DW: Prediction on the game?
RW: It’s hard to know with Baltimore how things will go. I do think that the game will be surprisingly close given the Ravens’ defense being able to implement a bend-but-don’t-break philosophy on the field. But the Dolphins should be in command the whole time and I think we’ll see the final score and wonder how Baltimore kept it that close. Depending on how the injury reports play out, I see the game being 13-20 I’ll take that.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The Eagles get our #8 so they can trade up for a QB while we land Tunsil at #13. We get Maxwell for a year+ as we rebuild our secondary, eat his contract to get things rolling and also add the core LB in our scheme. Alonso plays base, nickel and dime. The trade worked for both teams. All we did was take on some cap and move down 6 spots to make that deal.

The soon to be addition of McDonald adds a new dynamic to the defense. More reinforcements heading into a crucial part of the season. Our last 10 games are 4 DIV and 8 AFC.
