Game Day! – Jets @ Dolphins – FEST weekend

BTW IMO moore should start which is what I’ve been saying since august.
I tend to think the majority of fans had enough of cutler
He’s definitely starting this week, but after that, we’ll see. I’m open to Cutler returning as the starter when he’s ready. He was improving, getting more comfortable.
I’m hoping we just ride or it with Moore
But I agree – I think Cutler is slated to be the starter
We will see though
Piggy
I think you’re in the majority. Most Dolphins fans I talk to want Moore.
Same here. Fans like Moore. Until he stinks it up. LOL
LOL – Exactly – Backups are everyone’s favorite until they get exposed. I hope it doesn’t happen because that will mean we’re winning
This is pretty good defense by the jests
Well
Moore did the job last year.
I just don’t see the point in sticking with cutler and hoping he gets better as the season goes
We’ve got a few weeks to see how things play out. With multiple cracked ribs, I can’t see Cutler being an option for a few weeks.
I don’t know where M13 is getting idea that Cutler has elbow injury. That has never been reported and they are very significant penalties about hiding injuries. I think Cutler has been healthy but his throwing mechanics have been pure crap and that has been affecting his throws as opposed to an injury
Moore is a known he can play at a solid level. He is in essence Josh Mcown. He is a journeyman. He will keep you in a ballgame. He is not going to carry a team but if you have enough talent around him he will help you win a fair share of games. Despite all his talent Cutler has never really shown he can do anything better than that

How do skins play out when you have 20 guys going…Is that just in your four-some?
_______________________________________________________
All 24 guys play skins, if 2 tie all tie, you have to have the best score on a hole in the entire group to win a skin, handicaps are applied,
so if a guy who has a high handicap birdies a hole he’s very likely to win that skin due to the strokes he’s getting, out of 18 holes only 2 or 3 skins pay out normally.
It’s called Tin Cup, let me know if you want in
Thanks was just curious as to how it works. Would actually be interested, but keep in mind have never played a round of golf before. How would the handicap work at that point?
I would suggest you go to the driving range hit some balls and play a couple of practice rounds, keep your score, if you can break 100 you should be able to compete, there are good players as well as hackers, it’s just a great group of guys who get together every weekend on sunday and play, no pressure, you play when you want to, they send an email out every week and you let them know you’ll be there and you’re in. they get group rates, if you’re an 18 handi cap and you’re playing against a 5 handi cap you get 13 strokes, believe me those strokes are hard to beat, getting a stroke on a whole doesn’t sound like much but it is huge.
Tin Cup Players,
We will play lift, clean, and place from your own fairway. Men’s 2 Tees.
First time 9:55am. Rate With Premier Card $35.
Handicaps attached. Groups below….
1. Harrison, Mack, Kesler
2. Marion, Ricky Edmonds, Mark
3. Tsegai, Cusimano, MB1, Martin
4. Polito, Polito Jr., Nicky D., Nicky D Jr.
5. Rich, Pat, Bennett, Lowell
6. Norell, CB, Jay, Auggie
The Top 12 are…..
1. Auggie………..60.0
2. Tsegai…………57.0
3. JR……………….52.5
4. Rich……………50.5
5. Polito Jr………50.0
6. Polito………….49.0
7. Kielton………..46.0
8. CB……………..45.0
9. Martin…………45.0
10. Bennett……..45.0
11. Pat……………36.5
12. MB1………….35.0
as you can see they also do a point system at the end of the year whomever has the most points wins Tin Cup, you don’t have to be a great golfer to win that, you just have to play well as opposed to your handicap
I think the winner gets 1k, even 2nd place pays out
Rich is a life long friend of mine, he’s a 16 handicap, that’s not very good yet he’s in 4th place
Sounds like a good group of guys and lots of fun. Like told you at D&Bs was pathetic at golf even after lessons. Interesting that the group dynamic adjusts so even a bad golfer can compete with a guy like you though.
No need to tute my horn i have bad days just like everyone else, it’s amazing how handicaps level the playing field. the winners are those who play the best in regards to their skill level.
So what were you saying about that trade down with Philly?
Maxwell is cut not totally surprised. He was generally disappointing
If we did that trade with Cleveland we would have sacrificed Tunsil,Alonso,Maxwell,Drake,Carroo,Harris, and we would still owe them a 2nd rounder in the upcoming draft. Granted Maxwell is gone however he was instrumental last year. at the time having a healthy Tannehill makes this trade not reasonable unless you have keen hindsight and even then not sure, Alonso has been great, Jury’s still out on Drake,Caroo and Harris, not to mention next years 2nd Rnder!
Tunsil may be the corner stone of this franchise for years to come, I don’t think we’re that bad at the QB position to warrant that kind of move at the time.
Whether it’s Cutler or Moore going forward after Cutler is able to play one thing for sure is it’s nice to have a backup that can come in and win a game.
Man players are dropping like flies. The Eagles lost Jason Peters and Jordan Hicks for the season last night.
Ken pointed out what I don’t get about the love for Cutler. He was out of the NFL for a reason. Maybe a desperate team like Cleveland would have signed him, but it’s not like he had a ton of options. At what point in his career has he shown that he is an above average starter in the NFL? There’s no emotional attachment for Dolphin fans. He gets mocked for good reason. There’s just so little to like and be optimistic about with him.
All that, and our offense was pure trash with him starting at QB. I don’t understand why saying Moore is the better option is an even remotely controversial opinion. Nobody is claiming Moore is anything more than a temporary fix, but at least we know the Dolphins can score some points and win games with him. That’s the best option we’ve got until Tannehill comes back.
Sorry to keep bringing it up. I’m done with commenting on it. If we can get over the Baltimore curse and win this Thursday things are looking pretty good to grab a playoff spot. At the very least we should be in the mix until the final week. Considering the injuries, OL problems, etc. that is more than I can ask for. Not many teams make the playoffs without their starting QB all season.
I haven’t really engaged much in the discussion because it’s Gase’s call anyway. LOL
Moore is the QB now and we’ll see how it plays out. Just keep winning. 🙂
Phindog finally arrives back in SoCalto to 105 degrees. Holy Shit !!!
Hot Dog
Damn, that’s hot! Much more reasonable at 72 degrees here in NJ
drg
I think Cutler was finally getting comfortable here, and really, it was unfair to expect him to come in here out of football and light it up from GO. I think Cutler has a higher ceiling than Moore, but not by much. Moore looked extremely comfortable and confident, which is good. He got the job done. I hope he continues to play well, and makes the decision very hard for Gase, that would be ideal for our team.
The reality is if he has one bad game everyone will be screaming for Cutler again.
Make it two games and I’m right with ya! 🙂
““I like that group. You throw the safeties in there too. Plus we’ve got one guy coming back (T.J. McDonald) soon. That’s a pretty talented group, a pretty physical group. That’s one of the things I’ve been most impressed with with those two young guys, is they’ve really helped our run game. When guys get to them, they get them down. They’re physical. They hit hard. It’s rare to have two guys that tackle as well as those two guys do.”
— Gase on the secondary post-Maxwell.
that’s the whole point. we had tannehill. KC had Smith and they still took a qb in the first.
you’re not just talking about drafting a qb, you’re talking about moving up and giving away future 1 and 2 rnd picks not to mention the 4th rnders and our first in that draft when you already have your qb of the future.
I’m sure the coach that does that deal wont have a job for long.
everyone always says it’s hindsight but I wanted Wentz in the draft.

I think Cutler has been healthy but his throwing mechanics have been pure crap and that has been affecting his throws as opposed to an injury
———–
I’m merely speculating about a possible injury of sorts [anything from a foot, a knee, an abdominal pain, a pectoral problem, an arm issue (first time I’ve heard “elbow”)… all the way to his diabetes. My speculation means absolutely NOTHING in the larger scheme of things as Gase has, is, and will continue to do as he sees fit: the fans can’t influence him and the media can’t influence him.
Now then, Cutler’s mechanics and arm had been just fine in the preseason and RSG1, then *BAM*… he was no longer physically able to throw the ball further than 15 yards over the next month… not even to get an eighth man out-of-the-box for Ajayi to run more easily (you’ll note that Ajayi couldn’t break 50 yards rushing in 2 of these games, both resulting in losses).
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I could be COMPLETELY wrong about Cutler nursing an injury of sorts over games 2 through 5: it doesn’t matter (never did) being he finally showed off his cannon last week. See, I was on the Matt Moore bandwagon over the last two weeks because Cutler was really hurting our Offensive output for a month. But I think Cutler is good to go now, IMO… well, except for his freshly injured ribs, of course.
Here’s the “SHORT, SHORT VERSION” (“Spaceballs”, LOL): I was merely speculating why Cutler couldn’t throw the deep ball for a month. Speculation, by definition, does NOT equal fact!
I hope this answers some questions, LOL. Let’s start rooting for WHOEVER our QB may be (both Cutler and Moore are QUALITY, there’s NO need for a QB controversy now, SMH). And lastly, IN GASE WE TRUST.
Matt Moore: 46 games played, 82.5 rating.
Jay Cutler: 145, 85.5
Ryan Tannehill: 77, 86.5
***
You could throw them all in a hat and pick one. They may have different strengths and weaknesses, but they all end up giving you fairly similar results. Bottom line is Moore is the guy…for now. But, none of them are the type of QB that wins games for you. They all need good players around them….as most QBs do. This year, this team will probably go as far as the defense can take them.
Something about all of Tannehill, Cutler, and Moore? Prior to this season, they all had EXACTLY one season of Gase’s Offense under their belts.
And with that stated, I agree with ya, Randy.
But not such a bad D to have. Like the new guys and Matt Burke a lot.
So in Toronto waiting to board for home.. forecast is 50-55 mph winds with snow … maybe I shouldn’t have bitched about blowing sand at 35 mph 🤔
So just a typical day in Winnipeg
😎😎 not quite , but close. Tis the season …
Safe travels my friend
Thank you time to board 😥😥😥
Wow….what a great anniversary celebration Krishna and Mrs. Krishna had in Florida last week, first on Siesta Key beach outside of Sarasota for a few days, then with the Festers for the weekend to celebrate a Dolphin’s win!
It was a great time and I want to give a great thank you from Krishna and Mrs. Krishna to everyone that made this Fest happen by being there for a common purpose and to everyone organizing the festivities. I don’t know all the organizers so this is to all those who were behind the scenes that make the blog work and helped Stanger with the festivities. It’s a lot of work and it was noticed and appreciated. Next time I will be sure to BYOB as I owe a few to a few.
And to be honest, the fest makes this blog real for me.
There was a moment there I thought I might be banned from going to the Fest as the first time was 5 years ago when we lost to the Titans as our “team didn’t show up” and Miller was benched. That was god awful performance. Then, looking at a 14 point deficit in the third quarter it seemed I was bringing some bad mojo. But Moore did what Moore can do. He’s high risk, high reward sometimes. He loves to throw the ball down field and I like that, until….
The next game is Thursday already, our nemesis the Ravens.
Go Dolphins!!!!
Glad you guys enjoyed! It was nice to see you both!
Somebody named Krishna has to believe that Karma is not going to let that Titans fest disaster happen again. LOL. It was great seeing you again. Don’t wait five years for your next appearance
Was great to see you and the lovely Mrs. Krishna. And those that “make the blog work” is right. Fest is one weekend…the rest of the year is what makes people get on planes.
If we beat the Ravens on Thursday night, it will be YUGE: if they end up in the playoff hunt as a WC, we’ll own the tie-breaker. Let’s take care of our future by taking care of biz on Thursday night.
Looking into the future, we WANT…
1) The Titans to finish #2 in the AFC South
2) The Chargers to finish #2 in the AFC West
…and with a Thursday Night win against the Ravens
3) The Ravens to finish #2 in the AFC North
Provided we continue to play winning football and finish #2 in the AFC East, we’re likely in the playoffs if we beat the Ravens.
BIG GAME!!!
Need to keep racking up those AFC wins. We’re currently 3-1.
Yessir! And let’s keep rooting for the NFC teams to beat the AFC teams when they go head-to-head.
i wonder why they signed fales when they have doughty on the practice squad?
i liked fales better than doughty and was shocked when they released fales and kept doughty.
That we went out and signed Fales should tell ya all ya need to know about Doughty. Even Fales himself noted today that he was sure he’d get called back to Miami… which he was.
Just remember… Doughty is a better QB than Tannehill… LOL 😉
You went there! Lol
Glad to see you admit it
So is Foles. Philly has a better backup than the Phins do a starter
Fales wasn’t PS eligible

HAD to! LOL
Touche!
‘Red Beard’ just went DEEP on ‘Black Beard’ in the World Series!!!
I’m going to be wedge for Halloween
And after today’s release of Byron Maxwell, we now sit at $616,861 under the cap.
I realize our cap figure didn’t change with Maxwell’s release, just wanted to reiterate where we’re at.
Just did the inevitable earlier instead of later
Exactly, Bro.
That’s some confidence in the youngins. Now as long as they don’t let the coach down!
Looks like Timmons, through his little episode, was worth the wait. Dude is a tackling machine. I am enjoying watching him out there. He’s made a heck of a difference already. Doesn’t seem to be a liablity in coverage either.
Crappy run blocking here
2 linemen running free! Maybe give them the ball!
gotta get Pouncey out of there. He doesn’t want to hit anybody. He’s been running by guys more than anything this year. Worthless.
Nick Foles is still a better quarterback than Ryan Tannehill
This is how someone loses credibility when they say stuff like that or that we are going to trade Jarvis Landry
Adam Gase is proving what I’ve been saying over and over and over for months. He DOES NOT NEED Ryan Tannehill to win. Bye Bye Tannyheel.
There is no ONE player needed to win. It is the ultimate team sport. I think Gase might be the one who can lead and develop that team spirit to lift all to greater achievement.
Gase has already done that, 14-6 with a playoff birth since he’s been in Miami. you really have to like him! best coach since that one we had years ago,
i cant remember his name??
I think so, too. I think it begins with an S?
SUPERMAN??
ER – Agree on Timmons. He’s been big for our defense. He simply makes the tackles that last year didn’t happen.
FROM THE “WE DON’T GET NO RESPECT” DEPARTMENT: The Ravens, yes, the horribly beaten-up Ravens, are 3-point favorites over the Dolphins in this morning’s fish wrap!!! – – SHOULD be the OTHER WAY AROUND IMHO!!!
——————————-
HERD—HERD—HERD
20-16 Mia –I’ll be laughing all the way to the bank!!
This is exactly what I saw on that great Kenny Stills catch
Way late by cutler
Should have been intercepted
Stills wasnt even looking early, cutler waited as long as he could
Most WRs don’t look back until well after the ball is thrown
he should not be looking back on a 9 route – that’s how you get seperation
It was a horrible throw. Compare that to the 28 yard TD pass Moore threw to Stills.
Let’s go Dolphins on the 3 game primetime swing!
go 3-0 on primetime please!
That’s an oink!
I just really want to beat the ravens. Not because they’re in the AFC or anything like that. I just want to beat them because we haven’t done it in a while. It seems like we’ve played them every year the last few years and they’ve beaten us every one of those years. Let’s go phins. Let’s get a win against these guys on their own home turf.
We beat them in 2015 but yes it does seem like we’ve lost every other time in recent years. We’re 6-6 head-to-head with them in the RS and 0-2 in the playoffs.
Have been some really tough Ravens games with bad endings. Wouldn’t stick in my mind as much if they had blown us out instead of at the very end……but before that streak we had the one game in the 1-15. Maybe that’s the payback. 🙂
Last year was ugly if I remember correctly but tanny was the QB.
Yeah last year they kicked the crap out of us 38-6. Tanny had a bad game and the defense was even worse.
Much pressure as Cutler has faced…..Pouncey must be playing strong.
The coaches keep telling everyone Pouncey is playing well and grades out high every week. But there is more to pass pro than just the center.
Dolphins 28, Ravens 16
Moore and Ajayi will feast on Ravens struggling defense.
Their pass defense has been good, they’re last against the run. It’s their offense that is really struggling, only we have less yards per game than them.
The jets run defense is pretty bad too but we couldn’t run against them. Not sure why but we should have run better against the jets.
They cleaned that up after a bad start but two of those games were against us. LOL
The Jets are 14th against the rush.
Correction, I was looking at their rushing offense. Yeah it’s basically us they’ve had success against. I think it’s because they blitzed us a lot challenging our passing game. So blitz the run on the way to the QB has been their game plan against us. It didn’t work so well against the pass last week. 🙂
Glad to hear the fest rocked!
The last minute interception to seal the deal, completed an awesome day for sure.
JEts are stupid if they let bowles go after this season. He’s a helluva coach IMO.
Well Jets fans would tell you differently. But how they’ve been depleting their roster is unfair to put it on the HC. They have overachieved and I think it will start catching up with them.
We’ll be wearing all white against the Ravens with them in all color rush purple. Should be easy to tell the difference between the two teams. LOL
OC’s have the hardest job in pass pro. They don’t necessarily have to go against the hardest pass rusher in a 1 on 1 match up, that’s usually the OT’s, but knowing who is your guy may change before, and after the snap, so you ave to be a smart player and make adjustments to do it effectively. You might have to pick up a LB, a Safety, a DT, and you might even have to start out blocking one person and then pick up another.
Some of the other OL’s do have deal with some of this on twists, and pre-snap gap adjustments but most of the time they know who their man is. OG’s usually know who their man is and what way they have to block him, ie bull rushers vs gappers. OT’s might have a guy who has both power and speed moves and might alternate between them in the same rush attempt. Still its a lot less complex than the OC, so that is an amazing job by Pouncey, considering.
The criticism of Bowles was last years performance. They had a stacked out team and were coming off a playoff season before, not unlike where we are right now. They finished last int he East. Im sure there were some internal things too that may have reflected on them negatively, we probably just dont know about those. They also had a GM change which automatically puts a coach on a short leash, because he isnt that GM’s guy. Those are all against him right now.
My opinion though is the Jets have responded in a way that should give credit to the coach since he was handed a bad hand and he so far has played it to unexpectedly good results. If i were the gets FO, id be leaning towards keeping him, at this point. However, if he cant keep the team focused and at least finish the season with some amount of respect, knowing now that they are capable of winning against most teams, id probably have a different opinion by the end of the season.
jets not gets
PFF grades through this week
OFFENSE
Cutler: #30 of 34
Ajayi: #6 of 53
Jarvis: #11 of 115
DeVante: #30 of 115
Stills: #97 of 115 (I CALL BS)
Julius: #56 of 66
Fasano: #64 of 66
Tunsil: #44 of 74
Steen: #63 of 78
Pouncey: #22 of 35 (SEEMS HIS RUN-BLOCKING IS HURTING HIM HERE)
Bushrod: #62 of 78 (TOO LOW, IMO)
Ja’Wuan: #21 of 74 (TOO HIGH, IMO)
DEFENSE
Hayes: #14 of 106; Harris: #45 of 106
Godchaux: #80 of 106
Suh: #6 of 121
Wake: #11 of 106; Branch: #78 of 106
Kiko: #48 of 100 (TOO LOW, IMO)
Hull: #66 of 100
Timmons: #7 of 100
Howard: #110 of 112 (WHAT???)
Tankersley: #63 of 112
McCain: #41 of 112
Allen: #79 of 86
Reshad: #16 of 86
Not even sure how he was 30 of 34 with a freaking 114+ QB rating lol. Something very off on PFF scoring there. Godchaux also was pretty dominant while in there so again, i think that was a pretty low ranking. Kiko didnt have a great game but i also a agree that was a pretty low ranking. Howard, i somewhat agree, maybe not that low, especially with Tankersly being rated higher.
Bro, this is for the cumulative season, not last week alone. My bad for not being clearer on that.
The Dolphins have graded Howard higher than Tank even though both are playing well. The Dolphins know what they’re asking their players to do on any given play, PFF does not. They just look at tape and say completion – BAD!!! LOL
Oh ok, that makes it make a little more sense, then i would still argue against Howard being so low. I do think Tankersly and Howard should be ranked around the same place, Kiko for sure is ranked pretty low as an overall look, and i still think Godchaux is kind of low as an overall, but that’s a lot closer than if it were just last games performances.

Dolphins rule out Steen for Baltimore game, as well asCutler of course. Tunsil Branch,Parker, Phillips questionable.
Steen out is going to hurt us, especially with Larsen still out. Im assuming they will bring in Davis to play in his spot, Man if Tunsil isnt able to go though that puts us with some serious line adjustments. Might wind up bringing in Asiata to play OG, kicking Davis or Bushrod out to LT.
Tunsil participated in full in today’s practice. Branch, Parker and Phillips were all limited but that makes sense on a short week.
Asiata may be active for the first time as a backup.
There is 0 way i putting Sam Young in there at LT over just using Bushrod or Davis at OG. You might could Play Brendel there at the OG spot if one of them slides out but he is small for a OG and i think the DT’s might manhandle him there. We almost wouldnt have a choice but to play Asiata if we did that.
Guys, the PFF stats I posted above are through this past week, meaning they are SEASON grades.
And as a disclaimer, it’s PFF… take it for what it’s worth.
Very little. LOL
Ill be honest i have looked up how they score things and its pretty solidly subjective, however there are times i agree completely with what they have said. I don’t think its way off in left field wrong, but there is a variance there that makes it inconsistently accurate at best.
D, Young has been inactive all season but he’s on the roster so he’s always an option when we have some injuries. I see Davis at LG and he becomes the backup OT if one goes down. Brendel is the backup C and is likely an option at G if someone goes down. Bushrod would probably be an emergency OT if we lost one and Davis. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen.
My wish ALL ALONG was to not separate Laremy Tunsil from Branden Albert what with their mentor-prodeje relationship: the two seem to have had a special bond. Dammit I wish we’d brought Albert back as our LG after JAX released him early on this season. Albert was/is willing to do it (move to Guard) and loves Miami, but we’ve got no $$$ left.
I dont think Albert’s hear or health were in a position to keep going at a solid level. I think he would be a liability at this point.
Heart or Health
That’s how the team felt.

Jesse Davis will start for injured Anthony Steen Thursday nite.
———–
Oh boy…
That’s not a surprise. He’s been rotating with Steen at LG much of the season.
I figured he would, as long as Tunsil starts. If Tunsil doesnt, which i think Tim posted something that seems like he will, then i think he becomes the best option at LT, and then id bring in Asiata to play OG. I think Brendel is a real emergency option at OG because he is going to get manhandled by some of the more powerful DT’s.
Incidentally i did think Brendel played very well filling in for Pouncey, so that was a good thing to see, that the depth players see better able to step in when we need them.
Agreed with Brendel playing very well in relief of Pouncey.
And Brendel has to be ready to answer the call, being Pouncey will not survive this season.
“Steen out is going to hurt us, especially with Larsen still out.”
Is Larsen expected to return this season?
Yup, Larsen will be back after our 8th game has been played.
Oh wow, I didn’t even realize that. Thanks, that’s good news.
No problem, Cav. And TJ McDonald will be coming back at that time as well. Good time to get some mid-season reinforcements.
I’m really excited to see McDonald paired with Jones. We’ll probably have the hardest hitting safety tandem in the league.
Cav — how can you not get excited about TJ? Not sure how deep coverage will work. but gonna be a bunch of dudes worried about what happens after the catch.
Stang,
It’ll be interesting to see if our safeties rotate based on D&D or if it is McDonald and Jones manning the spots full time.
Yep — we’ll have two upgrades popping in. Only problem is they will make the team better as the schedule gets tougher.
M13, why keep harping on Pouncey not making it through the season? So far the only issue he’s had was a concussion and he missed no starts. I know it’s easy to feel he won’t due to the recent past, but let’s just keep our fingers crossed instead of expecting the worst. 🙂
Prepare for the worst and hope for the best: these are words to live by or die by. 🙂
Let us hope we’re adequately prepared for Pouncey to go down. His hips will continue to degenerate, he’s had knee issues in the recent past, and the concussion on top of it all just sucks.
But please KNOW that I’m rooting for Pouncey, Brother!
Kong, maybe early on we’ll rotate our safeties to get McDonald up to speed. But once he is I think he’ll start with Jones, and Allen will likely be a backup and dime safety.
