If you’re a Dolphins fan, you’re well aware of the move that sent Jay Ajayi to the Philadelphia Eagles in return for a 4th RD draft pick in 2018. Rather than dwell on the “why” this move was made, let’s look at what we can do going forward without Ajayi. Let’s face it, just looking at our team with what we do know, our starting QB is playing with a few cracked ribs, our backup QB was shell shocked last week in one of the most demoralizing losses in Dolphins history. Anthony Steen, who was the starting LG is now on IR, along with our starting safety Nate Allen. Ted Larsen will be practicing, and there’s a chance he can play Sunday night, but it’s unlikely, which would mean Jesse Davis would start at LG. Our starting RB, whoever it is, either Kenyan Drake or Damien Williams. Damien Williams is now our leading rusher with 32 yards (12 carries), and Drake is right behind him with 25 yards (10 carries). None of this means neither back is capable, just that their opportunities have been quite limited this season.

There may be some good news for Sunday night, Devante Parker may be able to return to the lineup to provide Jay Cutler with a much needed receiving threat. Without Parker, the offense has been stagnant, or against the Ravens, non-existent. Going forward now without Ajayi, Adam Gase is going to be scrutinized as to what this offense can do since he jettisoned arguably his best offensive player. It’s difficult to know exactly how we proceed from here on in, but if I had to guess, we’re not going to be relying on 1 RB to carry the team, but use a combination of the two backs, Drake and Williams, somewhat similarly to the way the Atlanta Falcons used Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman last season. Not saying we’ll be as good as they were, but I think we may see a system similar to that. We have enough receiver talent to threaten opposing defenses, especially with Parker on the field, with Stills and Landry. Of course, we need to pass protect well enough to keep Cutler upright and give him enough time to make strong throws from the pocket. Maybe “the message” will inspire some better play from this group, and things turn for the better.
The defense has been solid, and though the Ravens scored 40 points, our inept offense enabled the Ravens all night, giving them excellent field position almost every possession. Michael Thomas takes over for Nate Allen at S, and while he’s not T.J. McDonald, I think he brings more to the defense than Allen does. The Raiders have had a rough season so far, Derek Carr was injured for a couple of games, but I’m sure they’re looking at this game as a chance to rebound, and I’m sure they’re thrilled they don’t have to face Ajayi. I know it seems silly, but I think we have a bit of an advantage with the element of surprise. How can the Raiders know what we plan to do on offense when we’re probably still trying to figure that ourselves?
The Raiders come in 19th in the league in scoring offense averaging 21.1 points per game, while the Dolphins, as we know are a LEAGUE WORST at 13.1 points per game. On defense, the Dolphins are 15th allowing 21.7 points per game, while the Raiders defense is 23rd, allowing 23.8 points per game. The big question here, is which teams show up in Miami at Hard Rock, and that goes for both teams. The Raiders have shown they can put points on the board, beating the jets 45-20, and winning a last second thriller against the Kansas City Chiefs 31-30. Regarding the Dolphins, will the team that was inspired by Adam Gase’s message last year that went on to win 9 of 11 games show up, or will the same Dolphins that have somehow miraculously won 4 games while scoring only 13 points per game show up?

The rest of this season, Head Coach Adam Gase will be under the microscope. Again, I’m not speculating on what happened with Ajayi, but we undoubtedly traded one of our best offensive players away for a draft pick, and have seemingly left the cupboard somewhat bare at RB. I say that not to demean the talent we currently have, but we just haven’t seen a whole lot of Kenyan Drake. Damien Williams we have seen in passing situations, and at least last season, he really thrived as a receiver out of the backfield, and did a pretty good job pass blocking as well. Kenyan Drake is the bigger question mark. Can he handle a load of say 15 carries per game? Keep in mind he was always behind Derrick Henry at Alabama, so he wasn’t the feature back there, and here in MIA, he has a total of 46 carries in 1 1/2 seasons. We’ve heard about his abilities as a receiver, but we just haven’t seen it. One thing Gase was correct about, and of course, this is on him as much as it’s on the players, we were the WORST offense in the NFL, so we couldn’t be worse than the worst. Is it possible we go even further backwards? I don’t think so. Sometimes, players need a fire lit underneath them, and Gase probably thinks sending Ajayi packing will be the tinderbox that does it this season. Hell, I miss Ajayi already man, he was a lot of fun to watch, and it was fun to root for the J-Train, but as Jerry Seinfeld put it so well, we cheer for the laundry so #26 and #32 better step up and make Gase look good, as well as the rest of the team, or we’ll all be questioning our Head Coach, and folks, that’s not something I look forward to in the least.
GO DOLPHINS! Zero in!

Um, isn’t it LV, not Oakland?
and not LA
LOL, it still is Oakland soon to be Las Vegas.
I was just confused why both you and Mike both changed it to LA, lol.
Mike and I were confused. LOL
Tim,
It’s a big game for us…in prime time and in our building….against a team that has been struggling. We should have the edge. I get what you’re saying and agree for the most part, but a competitive effort should be a given. I want to see an edge throughout the whole game we haven’t seen much of this year. That’s just me. I also get the whole “a win’s a win” thought process too.
I’m just saying I can’t handle another game where the defense is bringing it but watch the opponent go up 3-0, 10-0, 17-3 as we punt over and over.
I want to see what you’re hoping for. I’m just not expecting it until I see it. The offense has shocked me all year with how bad they have been.

There’s only a “circus” around Kaep because of the media and fans.

Well, other than Cirque du Soleil, who else could make it a circus?

That said, we have gotten poor performances up front. I doubt Ajayi’s departure makes our OL better players. Tunsil does appear to be hurt though. He’s just not moving laterally like he used to.
_________________________________________
if the RB is not following the script it may appear as the OL doesn’t know what they’re doing or where their suppose to be. too many times in the Ravens game Ajayi tried to break outside only to lose yardage and the OL looked bewildered.
Yeah if you’re not blocking to go outside then it’s going to look bad.
Bills Jets tonight, Go Jets!
Kong – All this shifting in the West is confusing me. I still can’t call the Chargers the LA Chargers, and now I’m supposed to call the Raiders Las Vegas? Ugh!
When I see LAC, to me that’s the Clippers
ORob,
That’s not what i’ve seen…..it’s not just Ajayi going off script. Our OL has been playing poorly, except for maybe James. It contributes, of course, but it’s not been the bulk of the problem.
I kinda agree
Seems like he was hot behind he LOS a lot
Too much!
He was but he did try to stretch a lot of plays as well. I’ve been screaming at the offense for going lateral too much all year. We need to play more north and south.
I saw Kim Bokamper with guest Alain Poupart and they both were saying enough of those screens that go for nothing. We play too much lateral football.

There were a ton of plays where you ould see the OG turning his guy inside, the OT turning his guy outside, and then Ajayi went outside….right where James’s guy was waiting…..because he was getting blocked out. Right inbetween them was a crease, not always a great one but if Ajayi hits it like he normally does, accelerating through that point, he gets a minimum of 5 years, he migth also have broke what would have had to be an arm tackle by the LB since he committed to the 1 gap and had to try to get back into position when he say Ajayi initially break right. That actually cost us a bunch of yards. He likely would have been on the safety and who knows after that, safeties dont normally bring him down once he has a head of steam.
You can say its the OL not doing their part, but Gase, who drew up the play says it wasnt, he said they werent making great big holes like you would want, but they were at least doing their assignments. A lot of it though wasnt just hitting the wrong holes, it was not picking up blitzers, slipping out as an outlet receiver when his assignment was to stay home and block. There is no way it was just an occasional bad decision bouncing it out, though he did very specifically call him out for not taking the play he had, and trying to homerun it every time.
I know he was a fan favorite, but a lot of you are trying to act like Gase just threw him away because he didnt like him. 2 years of trying to fix it, sometimes you have to accept, they either aren’t going to pick it up, ot they just dont give a shit. Ajayi strikes me as too smart football wise for it to be the former.
It would be easier for the fans to assess with a higher sampling to compare
But Williams and Drake have 22 carries between them
If Ajayi was causing the problem – why did Gase keep feeding him for 7 games?
It’s not like we had anything close to a RB by committee
Gase was being patient with him. But it wasn’t just about Ajayi doing some stuff wrong. Ajayi also complained even after wins about not getting enough touches. He even walked out of a meeting because he was annoyed. It was that kind of stuff that wore thin. Same reason he didn’t go to Seattle in game 1 last year.
Tim
I am sure the primary reason is the same reason he didn’t go to Seattle
Gase didn’t want to manage his personality and that’s his decision
Some coaches are successful being that way. Some are succesful with different personalities
But if Gase stuck with him and kept give him 86% of the carries and he wasn’t doing what he was supposed to do on the play – that’s not patience, that’s stupidity
“We told him a while ago … he wasn’t going anywhere. We have a vision for what we want that wide receiver room to look like, and we expect him to be a huge part of that.”
— Gase on Landry….even if still wouldn’t put the franchise tag on him.
D,
We’ve also seen OL miss blocks, get pushed around, miss assignments, take penalties, give up soft edges, get beat with double moves and twists, not pick up stunts….and on and on. What Gase never said was whether or not the OL was actually playing good. He just says, at least they’re doing their assignments. He doesn’t say they’re doing them well. Lol
OL has sucked….no doubt about that part. But — as you said — maybe Ajayi thought he was the new Le’Veon Bell and that wasn’t part of the plan.
I’ve seen the entire offense play badly all year. All of them. It’s been so disappointing. Someone always seems to do something wrong to set back anything good that just happened. It’s so frustrating.
Ajayi has 138 carries through 7 games
Willims has 12
Drake has 10
Ajayi had over 86% of the carries
Are you telling me through 7 games, Ajayi wasn’t doing what the play called for and Gase just kept feeding him?
Soemthing is wrong with that theory
See my reply to you above.
I did and relied
I think your reply makes sense
But if I’m a gambling man, I’m betting the trade is more off field butting heads with the coach than what Ajayi did on the field
i hope the RBs make the OL look much better this weekend. But I have reason to doubt it and even if we get 200
Rushing yards, then I’m going to say to myself “why did Gase stick with Ajayi so long”.
The theory that the RB was the cause of our rushing woes is hard to beleive for me. I don’t think the trade fixed anything
Tim,
I agree. That’s why I was saying that this isn’t just about what Ajayi has done. There has been a lot of suck on this offense this year. Plenty of blame to go around.
Yep!
Piggy
It’s not necessarily 200 yards rushing, or that we’re going to be so much better rushing, but I think what Gase was saying is by bouncing to the outside on plays where the blocking was between the tackles, he may have made it 2nd-10 or 2nd-12, as opposed to getting 3-4 yards up the middle. We know Ajayi was the best RB on the team, but constantly not following assignments because he thought he knew better can drive a coach crazy.
Piggy, I think it was a combination of stuff. I guess Ajayi is a bit of a diva and cares a lot about his stats and personal success. Or at least Gase felt that way and doesn’t really want that in his offense. He has said many times the offense could be different week to week based on opponent. Not okay Jay, you’ll get your 24 rushes and 5-6 pass attempts every week.
It’s not like Ajayi didn’t play well at times, he did. He’s a good RB. Just not the right fit which you hear all the time from coaches and/or GMs. It is what it is and we moved on. Let’s hope the entire offense starts playing better. Like everyone has been saying, it can’t get much worse.

Matt Burke says Stephone Anthony has been working mostly as a strongside LB in practice.
Miami Dolphins: How the heck is Stephone Anthony doing?
DAVIE — The Miami Dolphins traded a fifth-round draft pick to the New Orleans Saints for linebacker Stephone Anthony earlier this season, but he’s been inactive the last four games, after dressing against the Saints in London.
Lawrence Timmons, Kiko Alonso and Rey Maualuga are Miami’s starters. Mike Hull and Chase Allen are key special teams contributors.
So where does that leave Anthony, the former first-round pick?
“Every decision we make, in terms of game-day actives, are sort of a big-picture, team thing,” Dolphins defensive coordinator Matt Burke said Thursday. “And where all those guys fit in. Steph’s done a good job, he really has. He’s big and can run. He’s been learning the system. We’ve settled him in a little bit. We’re trying to give him a couple spots where if for some reason we got him up on game day, we would have a role for him.”
Burke said Anthony has a good mindset.
“He’s a really energetic kid,” Burke said. “He’s happy to be here. He’s just waiting for his opportunity. But he looks good. He’s a big dude that can run. So you know he’s out there. You see him a lot mostly on the scout team stuff.”
Burke said Anthony has simulated Raiders pass-rusher Bruce Irvin this week.
“Be an end, be a linebacker,” Burke said. “They move him around because he’s such a versatile athlete. We’re trying to work him in and find a spot where we can get him going. We’ve been playing him mostly at SAM linebacker, behind Lawrence Timmons. He feels good. He’s done a good job. So I actually said to him the other day, because you worry as a coach, with him getting frustrated, having been traded. I was like, ‘Hey man, your time is going to come.’ And he’s like, ‘I’m good coach. I’m ready when you call on me.’ So his attitude has been great. He’ll have a chance at some point to perform and contribute for us.”
That’s good to hear. I’d like to see him get on the field someday soon
After Raekwon went down….who would have thought LB would look deep now?
Nice from Schad on today’s practice — “Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler (ribs) and wide receiver DeVante Parker (ankle) appeared to be full participants.” And Parker is Cutler’s favorite look too.
We usually don’t get to hear the player’s side of the story. Teams will always try to shape the story to reflect well in them.
Sure they do. Still, there has to be reasons why they got rid of him.
That’s just human nature…..but goes to the players as well. Have been impressed by the mancrush a lot of players had on Gase before this season at least.
Indeed Stanger.
Who knew when Raekwon went out it would be the least of the worries?
I don’t think anyone foresaw this season with the offensive woes. Some even saw better production when RT17 went down.
Yeah LB has really turned out well for us.
As for your last line, I was not one who thought that regarding RT. He had put in so much work in the offense and being in his 2nd season in it I thought he was going to build on the good things he did last year. Now who knows with everything we’ve seen this year if it would have been much better or just marginally better, but I think it would be better with him. If the offense looked like it does now with RT, it would have been really bad for him and everyone would be saying it’s time to move on from him. Him going down and the offense playing the way it has without him actually bought him a clean slate next season.
Yep.
I just have a hard time reconciling giving a guy 80+% of the carries when you’re unhappy with him….and not just a game or two. Something doesn’t fit. I’m just saying there’s always two sides to the story. I’m not saying one was more valid than the other.
I think when he said the fan base isn’t going to like it says it all for me.
I don’t think anyone is really wrong in this, it’s simply parting ways not being on the same page. I mean the Eagles traded LeSean McCoy. It happens.
He was our best running back….so have no problem understanding why he was getting the carries. For sure Gase decided to cut ties, but then he didn’t get J-Train on a plane last season when he should have football-wise as well. And now we will see what Drake has to offer.
From the tidbits Gase has said, seems he tried for year and half to get together with Ajayi.
If the player was truly me first and upset after victories and not because of mistakes they made but because they felt they deserved more touches, then it just becomes the last straw was finally pullled.
That’s how I see it.

———-
Mike,
I live out here, and I can’t keep up, lol.
Agreed, Randy. I said it when this went down. No matter what spin is put on it, with what we’re being told, things don’t add up.
Maxwell doesn’t play his assignments right, he gets benched last year, and again this year. Ajayi last year is being unprofessional, he sits home for Seattle. This year Ajayi is supposedly both those things, he gets 98% of the carries through 7 games. BS
With all the hype Ajayi was getting, Gase would of been ran out of town for not feeding him. I think he’s a 2nd year coach and still learning and part of that is knowing when to say enough. Especially for a fan favorite.
I bet Piggy wished Gase would of done this a couple weeks sooner tho. Lol
Gase has explicitly stated he doesn’t give two shits about what the fans think. If he did, Cutler would have been benched 3 or 4 games ago for Moore.
Personally, I think some are just so tired of losing they will accept any explanation that makes them feel better about their team. Just like they’ll point out the 4-3 record this year when they know how bad the offense is and have seen this before. They’ll try to rationalize the situation best they can to try and convince themselves things are better than they are. I’ve done it myself in the past and have put posts on this blog showing that kind of blind support.
But, you can’t ignore the problems they have on offense and trading one guy isn’t going to solve those issues. I know many of you think of Omar as a troll but you also can’t argue with what he said that, if the team had a problem with Ajayi, imagine how they felt about Drake and Williams because they didn’t even see the field.
I want this team to win as much as anyone else on this board but, like I said, I’m tired of the losing and I’m tired of the excuses and I’m calling it like I see it. It doesn’t sit well with some, most or all of you and I’m fine with that.
But, go back and look at Gase’s press conference after the Baltimore loss and look at the way he is pouting to the media about players on offense. And, that’s exactly what he was doing. He wasn’t complaining, he was pouting. This is not the sign of a coach who’s got his shit together. It shows a lack of character when the one guy who is supposed to be the leader of the team gets up in front of the media and pouts about the guys not doing their jobs.
You can disagree all you want and you can call me a troll but the truth of the matter is if Gase had an issue with Ajayi it was up to him to address that issue with him appropriately and you don’t address the issue by rewarding the guy and starting him in each game this season. Last year he left Ajayi home for the Seattle game. People are quick to point that out when they bring up the so-called issue this year. Why didn’t Gase take action instead of just allowing it to happen and then jettison our best offensive weapon.
If you’re good with what just happen then so be it. But, something isn’t right and the explanation they’re giving doesn’t wash. You can call me out and say I wasn’t there, don’t know what happened behind the scenes but don’t call out the coach who is supposed to have a handle on his team and is NOW grasping at straws by changing everything again. Once again, not a good sign when a coach starts changing things. It’s a sign that he doesn’t know what to do to get his players to do what he needs them to do.
While first pointing out don’t think anyone is good with losing…..what a great starter for a convo about Gase. Your football insight is great.
I love Gase, but that has always been about him being our long-term future as coach. And he might prove me wrong in that, but like his moves a lot even if obviously not so happy with the O even if really liking the progress in the D.
But then, never thought we were anything other than a fringe playoff team this year at best. So just like the planning and course.
we’ve accepted the pathetic excuses from this team long enough and I think some have gotten used to it. people just quote what others have said like parrots, “Ajayi was complaining after wins. He even walked out after a meeting”.
So what. Really. Stuff like this goes on all the time with teams and other teams deal with it. You’ve got a lot of different personalities in the building and a lot of them have maturity issues. if you’re an NFL head coach you’ve got to understand that. you deal with it. if you can’t then you go find something else to do. you don’t just keep getting rid of your best players because you can’t deal with them.
this is the same shit people hammered Philbin for and now it’s happening all over again. maybe Gase just isn’t cut out to be a head coach. maybe he’s a great OC and that’s it. look at McDaniels in New England.
You know they say sunlight turns trolls to stone. Someone needs to open BarcaLounger Lou’s blinds.
Kong
I really don’t think it matters what QB is put out there.
The fact Moore wasn’t even considered to start the season shows his limits. I really don’t like either. Cutler has been crappy and Moore is Moore. Facts are that this team lost their starting QB and that’s a tough hill to climb.
I agree. I said it after Tanny went down, that we were screwed. All my friends tried to hype me up about Cutler, but I didn’t buy it for a second. I think it’s a testament to our grit that we are somehow 4-3, but what we have is entirely unsustainable.
I honestly think this trade of Ajayi was about making a splash change for the sake of change. Not the other silly stuff that keeps getting bantered around. I kind of agree with Lou (sorry), that this stuff happens all the time and you are bound to have stuff like this to work through every season on every team, and if we were clicking on offense, Ajayi would still be here. Things aren’t working so the coaches said “let’s make a surprising change”. All the rest is just noise and excuses IMO.
There’s a difference in discussing why something happens and liking it. As for accepting it, what else are we suppose to do as fans? We don’t make any decisions. Also rooting for the team doesn’t change anything either. LOL
get pissed. sound off like you’ve got a pair
That’s not how I roll. It’s just a team and game that I love. There’s lots of things in life that I don’t like how things are that are bigger concerns to me than sports.
Lou
Have you tried going on twitter and calling the Dolphins Front Office a bunch of douchebags?
Just wondering how big your pair is . . .
I’ve done that plenty
Wow, I’m impressed. Have they fired anyone yet?
They traded Ajayi just to prove you wrong that it wasn’t Landry.
Prof Lou — just by hitting on your tag noticed that in September you wrote a piece entitled “Miami Dolphins Continue To Build Championship Caliber Team.”
Maybe sometimes the answer is in the middle.
Now half the blog is going to read that post (like I just did). You just tripled the hits to his site. Don’t lie, you get a cut, right?
I take that back about tripling the hits. Home posts there all the time, so Lou probably gets a couple of thousand hits a day from him.
LMAO — am a paid for click salesman for the Prof Lou blog….but we all have to make a living. And he writes good stuff will add. 🙂
yeah, a whole three hits
“If you’re a Miami Dolphins fan you can’t but be excited about their prospects this season. Maybe it would be a bit optimistic to say this team is Super Bowl bound this season but there’s no denying this they can be a team that can compete with anyone else in the league on Sunday. And, if you don’t agree with that you may be a little bit in denial.”
I can’t believe I wrote that dribble
For the record I think it sucks that we traded Ajayi for whatever reason. I was a fan of his and wish it would have worked out. But I don’t make those decisions and I root for the team first.
Calling people douchebags in cyberspace doesn’t represent having a pair of anything. Especially when it’s done away from them.
What if you put an exclamation point at the end? lol
What about a pointed stick?
Wow. Watson may have torn an ACL during practice
Say it isn’t so…
Deshaun Watson tears ACL in practice today. Phenomenal rookie season cut short
That sucks! Man all these injuries suck.
A ton of big name players.
The ratings suck as it is and more and more marquee players keep going down.
Yep! It hurts the game for sure. Watson was becoming a popular NFL player.
That’s awful
Sad trumpet sounds
Except for piggy
Fuck everyone who isn’t a Dolphin
I hope they all are out for the year😈
Someone put some spicy sauce on your pork today
that would explain all the sad trumpet sounds…i.e. me farting
No way in hell McNair brings Kaep in
Why not? he’s a Watson Clone
Are you kidding me? Watson is actually good.
It’s all that other stuff. Don’t think it would go well in Texas either. Very proud pro-America state.
Wouldn’t you say Kaep was good with his resume? how many superbowls has Watson gone too?
Another huge problem is Field Position, we got killed on Field position against the Ravens, we can’t afford 30 yard punts, we constantly go three and out punt it 30 yards and put our D’s back up against the wall. we need to get Darr back, this guy haack is a hack!
John Denney will be playing in his 200th consecutive game on Sunday.
Iron man.
about Ajayi, he’s gone, it’s done, it’s like beating a dead Pig, nothing we can do, next man up!
Agreed. I am excited to see Drake get more opportunities. We know what Williams is and isn’t, Drake is still sort of unknown.
Williams has his moments but from what i saw he’s dreadful as a blocker I think they’ve been holding back Drake, he played well with the limited carries he’s had against the Ravens, i’m excited to see what he can do
Williams best attributes are his receiving skills, he’s got a good burst and he runs tough. Not the most instinctive runner and does has issues in pass pro too often.
Drake is getting his opportunity. I hope he seizes it.
Dolphins fans.
Ajayi’s gone. Fuck him. He’s no longer with the team.
What? Waston tore his ACL? That’s terrible.
That’s hypocritical to you?
It kind of sounds like 2 independent events and 2 independent reactions
Hypocritical? Ajayi was a member of the Phins who those same fans loved when he was with the team and now that he’s gone it’s fuck him. Watson has never played for the team and he’s on another team and people are like “poor guy”. Fuck that shit. He’s on another team. I don’t care about players on other teams. Right?
I don’t know what you are talking about. I really don’t think there is a contradiction about people feeling two different ways about two different things. That literally happens everyday to all of us.
In fact, if 3 things happens, then people might feel 3 different ways
if 4 things happen, people might feel 4 different ways
there is nothing or contradictory about it
Nobody said fuck him and comparing a trade to a guy playing really well tearing his ACL in practice ending his season is a horrible comparison. You really like to stir it up, Lou. Hope you’re getting everything you want out of it.
What is up with all these non contact knee injuries recently?
knees are for pussies
That’s been going on for a long time. A lot of them happen in practice.
that run last year where drake reversed the field and took it to the house was incredible, i forgot which game that was, he has way better break away speed than that other guy who’s now with the pigeons. I’m excited to see him finally get his chance,
He’s got a ways to go to match Ajayi. But I hope he’s super awesome! 🙂
I think once he gets in the open field he’ll take it to the house, unlike Ajayi
Ajayi is more of a chunk yardage guy then a HR guy. We all know Drake has great speed. Can he consistently get 3-5 yards and handle 15+ rushes or 20+ overall touches? I do think we’ll see him involved in the passing game much more now. We might see more 2-back with both Williams and Drake on the field as well.
with all due respect to Landry, he plays hard, he blocks well, a great possession rec, the downside is his speed, last week against the Ravens he tried to go deep and was covered like a blanket, he couldn’t outrun the corner, he can’t get separation, no way will he command 15m on a Fran tag, if he gets 8 mil per he should jump at it. anymore and he’s just overpaid
The numbers being thrown around are way too high just like it was with Stills. He’s better inside than outside because he can lose guys with craftiness in more space. He’s never gonna line up and just blow past someone unless they screw up.
That said, lots of players are overpaid. I don’t see us overpaying him. I’ve gone back and forth with this but he does bring intangibles to the team that not a lot of players have. His only flaw is he doesn’t have top end speed. We’ll see.
That sucks about Watson
Lou – That is some crazy ass rationale you use there. FTR, I made it clear I miss Ajayi, but he is gone, so I have to root for Drake and Williams. There’s nothing hypocritical about that. I also don’t absolve him completely for being traded. He had to have worn out his welcome or he’d still be here.
Oh, and I feel terrible for Watson because he got injured, and he was having a great season. It’s a damn shame.
Texans just took a bigger “Hope-Crash” than we did…. for whatever that’s worth. 😉
LOL @ Piggy on different things happening and feeling different ways. Like Lou thinking in September we were building a championship team and he feels differently today about that. Did different things happen? LOL

But yet you did and the writing itself was professional grade. You have mad skills with the quill my friend. And I still agree with what you wrote back then as far as building a contender no matter what has happened in this one season since. But this place is Venting R US anyhow…..so understand.
good post
venting is fine and we all do it…but the golden rule is try not to act like everyone else is crazy thought

#Texans QB Deshaun Watson tore his left ACL in college. I’m told this is actually the other ACL. No news is good, but this is something.
I’m just shocked that a player not on my FF team got injured. I keep playing Brady in hopes…well you know….but it hasn’t happened. I’ve not won a single time this year. lol
HERD: I HOPE you can take time to watch the Marshall at FAU game 6:30 tomorrow night on CBS Sports channel. Marshall is where FAU would like to be, a top level program in Conference USA.–Hope all is well with you & your family. So sorry you lost your doggy!

ON another subject, have any photos from the Fest made it to this site?? –I’ve been on the road for too many days!! Next weekend me and a co-worker fly to Baltimore for one of our biggest conventions. Think I’ll leave my AJAYI jersey home for this trip!
Mike E has a shit ton of photos. Just axe mike 🐕
I want both teams to lose tonight but we need the bills to lose. I can’t root for the goat vomit green so I just might as well not watch this.. But I will 😎

Jarvis Landry (338) needs 5 catches to pass Anquan Boldin (342) for most receptions by player in first four NFL seasons.
I’ve got a question?
After everyone’s lobbying this is what the players really wanted in the off-season?
If this is the best they can do maybe they aught to hire representation!
Like they say, being paid to play a kids game. LOL
Lol. It needs some Benny Hill music.

I don’t see Johny Fooseball, or the Kreepersniffer’s name anywhere?
When football is secondary, teams pass.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL hold the rights to Johnny Fooseball.
You don’t think an NFL team could buy that out if they wanted?

Ouch!
It’s 45 degrees in the wrong direction
Ugh! Wish you the best man.
That sucks, dude. But on the bright side, you still have use of your thumb, right? I once went 4 months without the use of my thumb. Even the simplest of tasks are nearly impossible when that happens. Get well soon.
It’s my right hand. There are a lot of things I do with my right hand that I can’t do with my left. Oh wait a minute

I swear they always have Williams on the D-line
That sucks Ken. You have a Baldinger finger now
I was going for a loose ball and so was this other guy who was wearing a Fitbit. My finger gets caught in the wrist strap. He goes one way I go another and my finger went with him

was it this one Ken?
One finger over to the pinky and definitely not that straight
I may use this one as many times as Tim does with his dancing men!
(Although I probably shouldn’t have mentioned it! He hasn’t posted them in awhile!!)
I blame you if he does
OD – I haven’t posted photos, and I’m not even sure I can. My photo program is out of date with my iMac, so I may not be able to do it.
That’s weird. No way you are ultimately limited here. Files are files.
I can save them, just can’t reformat or edit them in any way
Sucks to be rooting for the stej, but they’re up 7-0.
Time for me to take some pain meds and say goodnight. Peace
Peace, Bro.
Ken breaks a finger playing with his balls and goes on IR! Who we gonna sign up take his place? Lol
Not me! Playing with Ken’s balls sounds dangerous!
Oh Wait!
M13,
Tears like that really have very little to do with the size and speed of athletes. It’s usually about pulling it or twisting it the wrong way….guys cutting or trying to make a quick move. Sure, a hit at the right angle can cause one too…an OL that gets rolled up on, but if it’s the right angle the guy could be 200 pounds…it’s still gonna rip. It’s a factor, but a small one, I think.
Wyoming,
You know you’d need to get in line to play with Ken’s balls around here…danger or no. Lol

I don’t disagree with ya, Randy. Not all joints are created equally and everybody is built a little differently. My above post by David J. Chao isn’t necessarily an endorsement of his take, rather just an interesting read/post by a doctor.
Good post from you here, and I concur with ya. It’s never a ‘one-size-fits-all’ kind of situation when it comes to these ACL matters.
Ken – even if when you start out as hulk smashing everything, when younger older you start to get a little smashed instead and end up
Well…
I’m rooting for the jests tonight
Fight me!!!
My OPINION on what happened with Ajayi is that he was behaving devaish and not doing all the parts of his job as a RB and not following instructions as has been rumored and it HAS impacted the overall offense enough for Gase to believe the other guys can give him as much or more production.(his production has been bad this year. way toooooo many negative runs) They see them in practice everyday, they know what the guys are doing day in and out.
He is very talented physically so the coaches kept trying and hoping he would turn it around but in the end decided they couldn’t trust him to toe the line. Maybe he would do his assignments in practice but went off script in games? We don’t really know. I don’t have a “Fuck him” attitude towards him, but I am a fan of the TEAM so although I like him, he doesn’t “matter” anymore.
This Sunday I will root for the 11 guys wearing our colors on the field.
Go Dolphins!
See you Ajayi.
There are more than 11 guys wearing our colors…
😜
not on the field at once. If there is it is a penalty. 😜
Wy
For years I’ve hated that the NFL prevented violations
Now seeing it on the field – it’s kind of silly
I think these guys forgot how to celebrate
Now instead of dancing, they break out into experimental theater
LOL
I hope we see a lot of injuries tonight
As players get bigger/faster/stronger, the ACL doesn’t get any larger.
I had a conversation with my boss a few years ago about “injury prone” players. I contended that it was more bad luck than any traits that would make one more prone to getting hurt and he made a point that has stuck with me. Guys are all built differently and some guys may have much thicker tendons, etc than others just naturally, like bigger feet or other traits. He said if a GM / scout knows what he’s looking at, beyond the “skills” shown at the players makeup you can weed out the injury prone guys.
I have know clue if that is right, but it has stuck with me.
I suspect he was just trying to get you to look at his thick tendon
Does anyone else watch the Shannara Chronicals on Spike?
I watch it because I read the series but I don’t know if I really like it. it’s no GOT.

I broke / dislocated the end digit on my left pointer last month (not sure which because I set it myself and didn’t get an xray) well, I should have got it done by a professional because now it’s twisted at the end and bends funny. It’s just the left pointer so it only messes with my typing and only really nine letters. 😉 But when it was hurt I hit that fucking thing on everything.
Hulk smash bathroom when trying to wipe with left hand. LOL That’s not the stinky finger you want 😆
Mike E: Thanks for answering my question, even if you used “Tekkie” instead of English. Now if only my grandkids lived near here to translate it for me!!
Mike E. Send the photos to Herd or Piggy . They are not tech traded like us 😎

Rock,
The difference in the size of a tendon between one person and another is probably pretty small. They’re only mm’s thick. Any tendon…think or thin….will snap with the right force in the right position. Lots of people rip tendons just turning wrong.
Rock,
I read the Shannara series too, and I don’t like the TV series much. I’m trying to get into it, but it’s kinda cheesy. Same as when they did the Sword of Truth series. Tons of hot chicks but the series was kinda bleh.
Cheesy that’s a good word
wow Boger says Hughes got a flag for disrespectantly addressing an official.
All these excessive celebrations remind me of the beginning of the movie Baseketball.
Way too much discussion about my balls last night. Hulk worried
But Hulk will be OK…..

If you all want some in depth looks at ACL tears, Smokey Robinson wrote 2 songs about them, “Tears of a Clown” and “Tracks of my Tears”. People don’t usually think clowns get ACL tears, or singers for that matter, but they do, and that’s what inspired Smokey to write those.
2 GREAT SONGS
Jets Pounded Buffalo at home, 34-7 until garbage time, it makes me feel better about the loss we suffered there. it may have been due to the other team just playing good at home instead of the suck of the fins
GOT MY “FAU OWLS” T-Shirt on!! Gonna wear my red-white & blue all day (FAU’s colors). A win tonight keeps FAU in 1st place in C-USA’s Eastern Division! GOOO-O-O OWLS!!
What about the Canes? we are playing VA Tech Saturday at 8pm, big game, we need this win!
all Miami Dolphin fans have to support the Canes first!
are the owls in a pee wee league?
win this game and we’re 5-3 at midway which is a lot better than I had expected for this season. Just win baby.
It will be the worst playoff contending Dolphins team I’ve ever seen – but somehow, yes 5-3 and in the thick of things
offensively I agree. The defense is good enough for a playoffs push.
Our emergency kicker usually practices kicks between 35 and 45 yards, but there’s some discrepancy about his true range. “If you ask him or ask me?” Rizzi said with a smile. “The sky’s the limit for him. He doesn’t lack confidence at all, on anything. So he’ll tell you he can kick one from far away.”
Who is the emergency kicker?
I read something a couple of weeks ago that Suh was kicking at practice. But could have been he wanted to and no one wanted to tell him not to.
It is Suh.
Seriously? I thought it was something of a joke. Started to post whatever it was and then thought nah, he’s just messing around. Lol
Suh
Everyone once in a while he practices kicks
I wouldn’t mind if Parkey stubbed a toe in a game and needed his backup to play just to see it
piggy,
I just read this.
“the Dolphins have the worst point differential (-60) of any team with a winning record after seven games in NFL history”
I’d love to see someone do a roughing the kicker penalty with Suh as the kicker
In best nasal, tannoy referee voice. “Roughing the kicker, defence, number 56 – death penalty. This penalty will be assessed in the parking lot after the game”
LOL – If not the death penalty, for sure a Vader choke hold.
“Why is the NFL getting massive tax breaks while at the same time disrespecting our Anthem, Flag and Country?” Trump seethed on Twitter. “Change tax law!” While it’s unclear what Trump meant by “changing tax law,” Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives have taken him at his word: the newly proposed tax reform bill would kill the tax-exempt status for municipal bonds used to finance stadium construction.
—————
Can’t even say I disagree, but Trump’s war on the NFL continues. And doesn’t bother us or Ross much. Given that we have a private stadium, makes it even less likely we will move if this goes through.
I don’t really care for corporate welfare anyway
Just don’t understand how I can take some one who exploits it for his own gain as the champion of ending it
Hulk finger back in place but Hulk now know pain
Did Hulk smash puny doctor?
Not when doctor holding Hulks broken finger in his hand
Glad it is done…..and am sure you walked away with some pills you will have to hide if you ever want to sell your place and have an open house.

piggy,
I just read this.
“the Dolphins have the worst point differential (-60) of any team with a winning record after seven games in NFL history”
******
I’m not kidding! They are the worst Dolphin team I can remember watching recently.
The cam Cameron team was horrible but as I recall the first 6 games of 0-6 were close games we could have won
I hate watching the 2017 Dolphins for most of the game
That happens when you lose games 20-6, 20-0 and 40-0.
All our losses were basically shutouts, we scored a TD at the end of the game against the Jets. We won all our competitive games.
Tim
Even our wins aren’t so pretty
The 2nd half of the jests game was great – but that first half was…yuk
Chargers game was an “ugly win”
Titans and Falcons games were pretty bad too – except the 2nd half
We haven’t played a good first half of football his season
Every first half has been bad
We’ve probably played 4 good qtrs of football in 7 games so far
I’ve never seen the team this bad (except maybe ’07)
I know you usually like to stay positive (as do I) but isn’t this the worst you’ve seen in a while?
I’m not really being positive. Our offense has been bad most of the time. I was just pointing out all our losses were horrific performances by the offense. We’ve been especially bad in the 1st half. I agree it’s hard to watch. I posted the other day if we have a game like this Sunday night again where we’re down 3-0, then 10-0 then say 17-3 etc. it’s not worth watching because it’s no fun. I also hate seeing the defense get no support.
It’s not fun this year at all
I’m basically watching strictly out of loyalty
I feel like the the guys in the band on he titanic that kept playing…
LOL
Our offense looks as bad as I can remember most of this year. We’ve had moments where we’ve got it done, but there were much more times we didn’t. We really got shut down completely in 3 games, although sometimes during the game we moved the ball, and then screwed the pooch, either penalties or turnovers.
I actually think in the Falcons game that we won, we may have played our worst first half of offense
Remember how bad we were in that one in the first half?
Yes, because that was when I finally gave in and decided he should play Moore the 2nd half, and then all of a sudden, Cutler came alive. It was bizarre.
That’s the thing, even when we get something going we do something to ruin it.
Lmao at that Piggy
“Watching the Dolphins 2017 offense this season is like ___________”
