The 2018 Miami Dolphins have put all their eggs in the Ryan Tannehill basket. For better or for worse, the success or failure of this team will rest on the shoulders, right arm and knees of Ryan Tannehill. This is his year to succeed, his year to finally have the successful season the Dolphins have always hoped he could reach. In 2016, Tannehill was playing close to that level in the final 8 games he played until the unfortunate knee injury which ended up sidelining him for the rest of the ’16 season and the entire 2017 season. This even includes the annual thrashing by the Baltimore Ravens game in which we lost 38-6. Tannehill over the last 8 games had his best NFL stretch, playing to a top 10 QB level. He threw for 1721 yards, with a 69% completion rate with 13 TD’s and 5 INT’s, for an excellent 100.09 NFL QBR. This is what I’d like to see Ryan Tannehill have as his baseline, and maybe play even better, throw more TD’s, and help this team win more games. I think it’s possible. Gase has constructed this team as much in the image he wants as possible in 3 years. The offensive line should be improved with Laremy Tunsil at LT, Josh Sitton at LG, Dan Kilgore at C, Jesse Davis at RG and Ja’Wuan James at RT. He brought in Gore to teach our young backs how to conduct themselves as professionals. Gore, Drake, Ballage and whoever have the talent to move the football. We have some crafty veterans in Kenny Stills, Danny Amendola, and we also have the speedy slot man Albert Wilson, as well as the ultra-fast Jakeem Grant. If Devante Parker ever plays up to his potential, we may have one of the most dangerous WR corps in the NFL. That’s our starting QB, let’s take a look at the rest.
Brock Osweiler QB – 6’7″ 240
Osweiler came into the NFL in the same draft as Ryan Tannehill. He was a 2nd RD pick (57th overall) to the Denver Broncos, who at that time had the great Peyton Manning as their starter. Osweiler finally got his chance to start in 2016 and it wasn’t pretty. Osweiler completed under 60% of his passes (59.02%), throwing for 2957 yards along with 15 TD’s, and 16 INT’s and a QBR of 72.2. Not pretty. In 2017, Trevor Siemian won the starting job, so Osweiler managed to play in only 6 games with 4 starts, and it wasn’t any better than 2016 for Brock. Osweiler was drafted for near elite arm strength, but his accuracy and decision making have countered any arm talent he possesses. He wil, face some stiff competition for the backup QB job here in Miami from David Fales, who Gase brought over from the Chicago Bears. Maybe Gase can work some magic with the big fella, he’ll have to if Osweiler is going to ever help us.
___________________________________________________________
David Fales QB – 6’2″ 213
Fales was the backup QB in Chicago when Jay Cutler was the QB. During the 2016 season, the Bears employed 5 different QB’s when Cutler struggled with injuries, with names such as Jay Cutler, Matt Barkley, Brian Hoyer, Cameron Meredith, and of course David Fales. Fales only appeared in one game for the Bears that season, and it was very late in the game. In 2017, Gase brought Fales to the Dolphins (Along with Jay Cutler after Tannehill was ruled out for the season). Fales appeared in the final game of the 2017 season against Buffalo, and played fairly well in a 22-16 loss. That was the fateful game where Landry was ejected for extracurricular activities. So not a huge body of work to see, but I do recall Fales looking pretty good in the 2017 preseason, for what that’s worth. Fales definitely has a chance to be our backup, especially if Osweiler continues on his current trajectory.
__________________________________________________________
Bryce Petty QB – 6’3″ 230
First off, if the NY Jets cast away a QB, why would ANYONE even look at them? Petty was a fiery, competitive, team leader for the Baylor Bears. Yes, it was a spread offense, as many college offenses are, so he needed a lot of work playing under center and going through progressions. Well, he didn’t progress well in the NY Jet organization, and when he did get a chance to play, it was pretty miserable. As a draftee, he was a QB who had better than average arm strength, good size, and very good leadership characteristics. He led Baylor to 2 back to back Big 12 championships. He had a great college career with impressive stats and pedigree. He will be a dark horse to even make the team, we have carried 2 QB’s in the past, including last season until Fales was added to the roster in late October. Petty has little time to really impress to earn a roster spot here, and it’s very unlikely he can pull that off.
So that’s where we stand at the QB position. It’s basically Ryan Tannehill or bust, and I’m actually OK with that. I feel like with a better O-line, Sitton on the left side next to Tunsil, and Kilgore opening up holes for our run game, it will make things easier for Tannehill as the Dolphins offense will be more efficient. Hey, I waited till the very last paragraph to mention we actually drafted a TE, TWO of them! As we all know, a TE can be a QB’s best friend, and now Tannehill has at least 2. I’m excited to see our new offense take the field. This truly will be a team effort, and we will not be relying on any 1 superstar to take over a game. We have plenty of options on offense, with the aforementioned WR corps, with Gore, Drake and Ballage, as well as the TE’s Gesicki and Smythe and maybe Derby, Gray or Escobar, whomever wins that 3rd TE spot. I wouldn’t take any one Dolphins player in a Fantasy Football league this season, I think a lot of our players are going to be involved, we’re really going to spread the ball around. This is ideal for #17.
GO DOLPHINS!

Tim – I grew up in Florida. 5th generation cracker. Joined the Marines out of high school, ended up retiring in Virginia for work. All of my family is still in Florida.
Gotcha! LOL @ cracker, my whole family is crackers. LOL
Name the movie?
Thanks Rock. Looks great but still wouldn’t work for me (bit complicated). But you got me to put up an actual avi today. So win for you there.
This is what I’ve always thought of once I realized there wasn’t 2 R’s in your avi name.

I hope Parker finally puts up numbers like a first round pick is supposed to this year. I’m kinda tired of mediocre players or just above average guys being our first round picks.
Vontae Davis
Jared Odrick
Mike Pouncey
Ryan Tannehill
Dion Jordan
Ja’Wuan James
DeVante Parker
Laremy Tunsil
Charles Harris
Minkah Fitzpatrick
Not much top end production from the last 10 picks. Pouncey was the only pro bowler and he was a part time player for the most part
Pouncey was pretty good his first few years, but he always struggled against the bigger power players like Ngata and Wilfork
Tunsil and Harris are INC right now
Why be so negative Rock?
He watched your Tannehill video 837 times today, he’s salty

Stanger…the white was kool.

I’m not being negative…I am positive, Those 10 first round picks haven’t done enough to warrant being first round picks.
Laremy Tunsil – time to live up to your draft status in your 3rd season.
Charles Harris – he needed a rookie learning season and got better as the season went on. He’s a self-motivated player who wants to break out and prove his worth. Those guys are dangerous, especially when they have physical talent.
Minkah Fitzpatrick – doesn’t belong on the list, he hasn’t played an NFL game yet. How does he fall under mediocre draft pick? He might have been the best pick in this draft when it’s all said and done. We deserve one of those guys. 🙂
I think he was just on the list of 1st RD picks
Like you said incomplete. He’s more so than anyone.
No doubt we have not drafted legendary in a long time, always good or just okay and potential. Hopefully that starts to change.
and we have seen ANY production out of him……

Haven’t damn it! freaking auto incorrect! I know I typed haven’t
Hell yeah Tim – We need greatness for a change, and then we need to keep them
TIME TO CELEBRATE A SMALL VICTORY in my never ending war with Steve Ross’s inept ticket department. 2 years ago my tickets to the preseason games didn’t arrive until AFTER the 2 home exhibition games HAD ALREADY BEEN PLAYED. “Too bad,” said the ticket rep. He ADMITTED the problem was a snafu with shipping. Specifically, several season ticket holders who had paid in full several months prior to football season “were not put on the shipping list and did NOT get their tickets THROUGH NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN!”
LAST SEASON MY TICKETS ARRIVED BUT THE PARKING PASSES DID NOT! SO me and Mrs. OD could neither go to the preseason games NOR get a refund or a credit to NEXT year’s season tix! “We don’t do that, even if it’s our fault,” said my ticket rep. WHEN I ASKED “Why not?” the agent replied, “Mr. Ross tries to max out every financial situation,” which means “NO REFUNDS OR CREDITS.” WHEN TWO PAIRS OF PARKING PASSES ARRIVED THE NEXT DAY, I called my rep and told him I only needed one pair of passes for the whole season. He asked me to bring the extra pair of passes to the Stadium and turn them in at the next game. I replied, “I COULD do what Mr. Ross does and sell these extra passes to “max out my financial situation, but I’m NOT going to lower myself to Mr. Ross’s standards.” So I dutifully turned them in at the next home game.
DURING the off-season, I told my ticket rep that the ticket office should give season tix holders the option of either printing their tickets off their I-Pad OR getting REAL, PRINTED TICKETS as we did in the years before the 2016 season. According to AARP, almost two-thirds of their members do NOT HAVE an I-Pad or similar device to access their ticket accounts. And, in my experience, at least 50% of Fins season ticket holders are 50 or older. Anyway, my rep told me he presented my idea “to the big wigs at headquarters” and, lo’ and behold, the Dolphins are now offering a choice!!
TODAY, I received an email informing me that I would receive my PRINTED SEASON TICKET PACKAGE, including parking passes, pre-season tickets and regular season tickets, sometime during the week of July 26. After the mind boggling fuck-ups the last 2 seasons, all I have to say is “I’ll believe it when I see it!” So, maybe I SHOULDN’T CELEBRATE TOO EARLY???
You should file small claims against them, let a third party see who gets maximized, as soon as they would be served that issue would be settled, they would never let it get to a court for fear of maximizing their attorneys pocket
ROB; I have a special “get even plan” if, and when, I decide to implement it. Rest assured Steve Ross will love it!
from some of the post around here i think the sculptor should get started on Minkahs bust for Canton.
Just so you know, I never thought Minkah would be there for us at #11 and thought he was one of the top 5 prospects not counting all the QBs. After watching his videos and reading up on him, also saw him play some when Alabama was playing, this kid looked and sounded the part of leader and top player for a franchise. If he doesn’t pan out, like Son and I recently said, I give up! LOL
I certainly hope he’s good, every since deon whatshisname i’ve been wary of anointing rookies to the HOF early.
I’m not too happy with Charles Harris either.
Keep your eye on Harris. He was our best pass rusher down the stretch.
Those MF’ers at AARP need to stop sending me stuff to recruit me. I’m not eligible!
ROCK: I’ll be glad to sponsor your application when you’re old enough. All you have to do is beat me in ONE Dolphins’ bet!!!
i hope nobody is offended by my post, it’s a QB Camp Battle blog and i’m just looking at things realistically, my post are not meant to upset the fine folks around here.
Now taking a look at this next video will show how Tannehill is unaware of his surroundings, he needs to get rid of this ball, instead he runs right into a DL!
Nice block #77.
I agree, 77 had 99 handled until Tannehill broke the pocket allowing 99 to get too him
LOL, even the announcers say he had nowhere to go with the football.
ORob, what are you trying to do here?
The only reason I wouldn’t start working on Minkah’s bust at this point is that he’s so young, he hasn’t had a chance to mature into face we’ll continue to see as the years go by.
But otherwise why not…
The good looks really good
Those plays in the throwback unis against Buffalo was the Fest game. Ajayi went s for 200, Tannehill was playing great and our D was tough. If we can be that team every week, we’ll be a playoff team.
No doubt, the throwbacks look great!
I didn’t know Tannehill played in 2017?
That was the date of the highlight reel being put together, not the season. Come on, man. Even his highlights he has to escape pressure almost every play. That’s why all the roll-outs and bootlegs. There is no pocket, and when there is he gets killed at the end of the throw.
MARLINS took a 9-0 lead tonight after the top of the fourth inning in Washington. By the bottom of the sixth inning, the fish were TRAILING 10-9!! –Can’t ever remember a major league team blowing a 9 run lead in such a short time. However, the Marlins are NOT a major league team. They are a minor league team masquerading as a major league team.
OUT for tonight.
Probably Ross’ fault like everything else

Dear (Ask) Mike E,
I’ve now seen the new “IT” movie about 6 times… it grows on me each and every time I see it. But still… the story-telling is WEAK, IMO, to the original movie starring Tim Curry in the early 90s.
Seems to me that Hollywood is getting watered-down by favoring special effects and the like over the actual and intriguing story-telling. I feel the exact same way with the new Star Wars movies, as a matter of fact.
Am I alone?
Rigel
The super hero movie overload seems to be more about money than interesting story telling. I don’t get the attraction of 15 batman and spiderman movies.

I have it (It)recorded on my DVR. I plan on watching it in a week or so, so I’ll let you know what I think. In general, I totally agree, storylines and actual quality dialogue seem to be fading away in lieu of special effects.
I can’t believe you haven’t seen the new “IT” yet! Do yourself a favor… watch it at night and have all the lights out. Totally immerse yourself in the movie… you won’t regret it. But if you watch it by day, it may SUCK!

Where’s his dump off? he should have an eligible rec within reach…..
Did you watch the play? You should know where his dump off was.
First of all that play was 3rd and 10 so a dump off would probably just net you a punt anyway. BUT his outlet was Ajayi who rolled out into the flat on the right side and stopped at the line of scrimmage and stood there giving the defender the inside angle for the pick 6. That is why it couldn’t be dumped off. Ajayi fucked up the play on that side. Watch it again and tell me I’m wrong…..
NEXT
if anything throw it at his feet, you cant take sacks….sacks are drive killers…..drive killers equal losses.
Reply
3rd & 10. a sack and an incomplete are the SAME when you have to punt the ball the next down anyway!
NEXT
When you’re inside the 15 yard line every yard is critical, now they have to punt inside the 10 yard line, throw it at Ajayis feet, skip it to him, you have to know when to dump it, it’s well known that Tannehill holds the ball way too long.
you don’t throw it to Ajayi when he has given up on the play and allowed the inside angle to the pick six!
Rob, here are the two plays before the sack you posted above
1-10-MIA 14
(:12) 23-J.Ajayi right tackle to MIA 19 for 5 yards (31-K.Byard).
2-5-MIA 19
(15:00) 23-J.Ajayi right guard to MIA 14 for -5 yards (94-Au.Johnson). (dances around and loses 5 yards)
3-10-MIA 14
(14:15) (Shotgun) 17-R.Tannehill sacked at MIA 9 for -5 yards (99-J.Casey).
It is known
GOT reference!
Yup – That bastard better finish the next book already, I’m getting angry waiting for it.
Now, I’m not saying it was “good” for Tannehill to take that sack, I’m just saying it wasn’t only on him. Tunsil fucking did nothing to stop it, James got driven all the way back intoTannehill one side and when Tannehill tried to step up, there was no “up” to step to because Tunsil had given up on the play too. The three wide outs are well down the field off screen, but the commentators say there was no where to go. The other outlet was #80 who chip blocked and then rolled out into the left flat 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage. That sack was not on Tannehill.

I think I have officially ran out of authors to read in the Scifi / fantasy genre. I picked up Brent Weeks Night Angle trilogy a couple of weeks ago and read all three books in two weeks. It was pretty good. I liked the characters. But then I picked up his Black Prism and thought it would be a continuation or at least in the same “word” because the character on the cover looked like the same character on the other covers, but it is set in a totally different universe. I’m having trouble getting into this one.
Any suggestions from the Peanut gallery?
Have you read Michael Crichton?
Have you read the Pinky Dinky Doo series?
LOL!
I have read everything I can find from the following authors (and a bunch more)
George RR Martin, JRR Toilkien, Le Guin, Brandon Sanderson (after he finished Jordan’s WOT) Jordan, Rowling, Terry Prachet, Jim Butcher, Joe Abercrombie, Robin Hobb, Terry Brooks, Steven Ericson, Tad Williams, Mercedes Lackey, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Ray Bradbury, Piers Anthony, Stephen R. Donaldson, Terry Goodkind, Raymond E. Feist, David Eddings and Fritz Lieber.
I could open a freaking book store! I NEED MORE!
Try Michael Crichton, see if you like it
I think I have a couple of books, if you’re interested, I can bring them to the Fest
cs friedman – coldfire trilogy
Fantastic blend of scifi and magic. And the opening prologue in Black Sun Rising hooks you from the start.
Steven Bakker – Prince of Nothing trilogy/Aspect-Emperor trilogy. Very heavy, philosophic based. No kiddie stuff with this guy. Lots of tragedy.
I didn’t see Steven Erickson Malazan series in there. Really fun series
David Gemmell. Fun, easy read books. I would put them on par with Feist. Standard fantasy
Joe Abercrombie. Great characters. The Bloody Nine!!
Yes!
Any Zelazny Chronicles of Amber? Old fantasy series. Easy reads. Standard fantasy with some scifi. First person perspective which makes it stand out.

Abercrombie is very gritty. His villains speak like villains. His heros…..well technically there are no heros in his books because everyone is a cocksucker….
I love that it is all shades of grey. No knights in shining armor.
I think I have read the Malazan series.
My problem is they repackage everything and change the cover art so I will buy a “new” book and realize I have read it already about chapter 2….

The books of Jonathan Moeller
https://www.jonathanmoeller.com/writer/
Many years ago I listened to the audio book A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking narrated by him with his computer voice.
First problem is that Tanny dropped too far back in the pocket. You can see at the :35 second mark that the pocket is wide open, Turner had his guy swung around to the left, there is a big open spot in the center up front, and James is getting his guy under control on the right. He is giving ground but he has position on him and he is getting his anchor. Im assuming you are calling out Tunsil but your meaning Turner because wasnt even in on that play. Turner had his guy contained first sealing him from getting around to the edge, and then to the inside, but he did give up on the block.
Tanny had people open. TE on the bottom part of the screen was his outlet receiver and he was open. At the :36 second mak look and you will see Ajayi has position on his defender, He breaks back towards the center of the field and the defender has his back to Tanny right at the LOS. The TE has position on his guy as he breaks outsid on the other side. I cant see the receivers downfield but they looked pretty well covered at the snap.
Tanny snapped at the :33 mark of the video, and heis still holding on to the ball at the :36 second mark where the pocket is beginning to give. At this point he still has a wide open pocket to the front. If he scrambles here he could have escaped to the front, broke left and then he is in a situation where the LB covering the TE has to either choose to stay with the TE, giving Tanny room to run, or he has to play Tanny meaning Tanny gets a chance to dump off to a wide open TE. If the MLB comes up to chase Tanny, Ajayi coming back across the defense would have been wide open in the middle for him to hit and would have had yards and yards of real estate before he ever met a defender.
Tanny held on to the ball too long there, and because he did the guy Turner was blocking moved back around to the insid and closed off what was a big ass escape lane. Turner did give up on that block. Had he stayed engaged on the block Tanny probably could have made the mistake of moving up and then bounced it back out. Still there was definitely mistakes made by Tanny on those play, but in particular it was not looking to his two outlet options, and then panicking when he needed to escape the pocket. I get our OL sucked, but not every part of went wrong was them. If Tanny doesn’t improve some of that, he isnt going to be a QB that takes us to playoffs often if any.
Also no, and incomplete pass isnt just the same in that scenario as being sacked. Taking a sack could end in a fumble, it could end in an injury, an incomplete pass ends the play and might even draw a late hit on QB if the defender can kill his momentum. Optin for throwing that shit away is always a much better situation than just taking the sack, especially when it wasnt one of those slide to the ground or tuck the ball kind of sacks.
You’re killin me
I have read everything by Dr. Seuss.
Thanks for the suggestions guys!

I have really been educated by this current blog (QB Battles). I didn’t realize until now that playing QB in the NFL was as easy as putting mustard on a hotdog. Which, BTW, takes me longer to do than a QB has in time to get rid of the ball.
I once read “The Riot Act” to someone I disliked.
For the record, that clip of Tannehill getting sacked against the Titans that everyone seems to be so interested in was the game that got Billy Turner and Dallas Thomas cut two days later. It was like they weren’t even competing.
stop it. It was Tannehill’s fault.
Somewhat interesting, figuring we’ll need to know the names we’re cursing at,

33% with 5 or fewer years NFL experience…
D, yes, i meant Billy Turner. I was thinking left tackle and my lazy brain filled in the question of who is the dolphins left tackle with the correct current player but not who was in on that play. But regardless look at the tape again. #98 is spying on Tannehill the whole time. There is no place for him to “run up the middle’ nor is there another outlet to “option” #98 out of his way. The TE is 3 yards behind the line on the left. the three WR’s are running deep, slow developing routes and Ajayi is NOT open at any point while he is still an option. It was a deep play design with dump offs in the flats. The FIRST progression on that play was already 2 seconds from the snap.
I agree that he was too deep. He started in the shot gun and then did a 2-3 step drop.
He was pressured all day as the commentators said. That clip was the 4th sack of the day. The OL was miserable that day and as I said earlier, Billy Turner and Dallas Thomas were cut two days later.
Lol @ M and BBMike
Ajayi coming back across the defense would have been wide open in the middle for him to hit and would have had yards and yards of real estate before he ever met a defender.
Well, if Ajayi had even attempted to do so then you could point to this. As it is my response is “if my aunt had testicles…”
Ajayi isn’t a good instinctual receiver and one of the reasons is because of the erratic way he runs. He’s not smooth, he’s reckless abandon.

God damn it. I don’t own a fucking nook. why did I just by a nook book!!!??? ahhhh!!
Dallas Thomas is out of the NFL and Billy Turner is holding on by a thread as a backup in DEN. Do you guys remember how lost they looked in that game? Gase must have watched the film of the game and said to T-Baum and Grier, get these two out of here and find some new guys because those two will never play for me again. Jamil Douglas was cut 2 days after Thomas and Turner. He’s currently bouncing around Atlanta’s PS and depth chart.
AG don’t F-AROUND!!!!
He’d have likely cut Richie & JMart before bully gate ever came to be!!!
GOFINS!!!
PSYCHO X’s 2 !!!
The Dolphins have been so horrible at evaluating and then developing OL talent. It has been over a decade and how many 1st round picks or 1st round free agents and to still have bad lines. Dallas went from one of the worst lines in the game to one of the best the following year 3-4 years ago. We need someone to finally fix it. Fuck NE won the SB with Shaq Mason (4th round) and Joe Thuney (3rd round) at guards. We had 3 or 4 1st round picks and and tons of 2,3&4th round picks invested and our lines have always sucked.
Year after year “Line Guru’s” come through here and fail with top end draft capital.
THIS MUST END!
My WISH is that Asiata refuses to be kept off the field this august.
Here’s another sack, he was outside the pocket, could have easily thrown the ball out of bounds instead he hangs onto it and gets sacked, I’m seeing a trend here, is this what we have to look forward to in 2018???
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lId44JR28o
That was pretty bad. I hope not.
Now knock it off.
And Tannehill hit 66% of his passes for 285 yards and 3 TDs doing it but let’s not talk about the only stat that matters…W’s….when it doesn’t fit into your narrative.
a 130.6 PASSER rating but he took a bad sack.
We won that game. LOL
Jonathan Martin was supposed to be Tannhills LT for a decade.
Wait, wait I think that was the plan…
WAAAAAAAAAA!!
Gase , with a revolving door, rag-tag bunch to this point
has the QB sack thing trending in a positive direction..
THill sacks
o12 35
o13 58
o14 46
o15 45
POST AG
THill
o16 29 (minus 3 games)
Minus THill
o17 We were sacked 33 times
TRENDING POSITIVELY, and now have 6 compotent OL starters!!!
GOFINS!!!

Malazan series is epic like the Wheel of Time. Has one of my favorite characters of all time, Anomander Rake.
Reply
I think my favorite character in the fantasy genre is either Silk, AKA Prince Kheldar or Jimmy the Hand, AKA Lord James of Krondor
Great series (2 series). I always liked Silk. He was the best character in that series IMO. The Belgariad/Mallorean was one of the 1st fantasy series I ever read. I couldn’t put it down until I finished. I think I read the whole thing in a week.
The biggest problem I had with Eddings as I got older is he loves his characters too much. They are always overpowered. There is always just one requisite sacrifice of a good character, and everybody else gets everything they ever wanted, lol.
The Belgariad, The Mallorean, and The Elenium. The good guys just mow through everything taking turns being badasses. Great series all, but not much re-readability for me.
Never much cared for Jimmy the Hand. I loved the 1st two books of Riftwar, then the next two about the dragonlords, but lost interest and never read beyond that. Jimmy probably got fleshed out quite a bit more after that.
I think we’re in trouble and it has nothing to do with Tannehill or Drake, I think the problem lies with Gase, I think he will pass more than he will run. we wont have a balanced offense and it will make it difficult for everyone.
I say this because this is the guys track record, we will have a combination of 1 RB… ! TE… and 3 wr’s 70% of the downs, it will be a pass happy offense loaded with useless bubble screens.
This is really what i fear.
it certainly didn’t work in Chicago
Seeing that “””it has nothing to do with THill or Drake”””
It worked out well for record breaking numbers in o14
with Denver/Manning/Osweiler/RB committee
603 pass for 4661
443 rush for 1785
12 – 4
Yes I know they had a good D, but we’re talking O pfffttt
GOFINS!!!
And Manning said Gase had about the best football smarts of anyone he’d ever met.
Shoot, for years before Manning’s o15 he was barely fast enough to get to the handoff spot, and his arm had become that of a Chad Pennington, while fricken super-raw Osweiler was the QB of some 5 of 7 wins in games started under Gase!!!
GOFINS!!!
Under OC Gase ( MO )
o15 Manning/Osweiler completed 399 passes for 7.5 avg
44 fewer completions than total rush attempts of 4.0 avg
THill/good OL play/DrakeRBcommittee/WR speed/Flexibility/Better than Julius Thomas TE’s
oughta be able to pull it off…
And Raw at the time TE Julius Thomas had 24 TD’s in two years under OC Gase!!! Went from raw to stud to pasture pretty quick, but hey we got Gesicki/Smythe & some vets that still have a ton of (2 year Julius Thomas) type of upside/production!!!
GOFINS!!!
And what you fear is what I want ORob. But then teams have won superbowls with very different approaches. Like you pretty sure what Gase favors though.
I’m looking forward to Ryan Tannehill playing this season, and playing well. He knows his career is in the balance right now. He has to perform.
The last 8 games RT played in 2016 from the 6 game winning streak and 7-1 run after a 1-4 start, his Passer Rating was 102.7.
For those of us who grew up in the NY Metro area, 102.7 WNEW was the classic rock station for years. DJ Scott Muni!!! RIP
I see this as a sign of good things to come. LOL
I agree, but let’s harp on what did in 2015.
Kong, I agree with everything you said about Eddings above. He was my FIRST book ever. I got the Chicken pocks as a kid and had to be quarantined from the rest of the family so had not TV or nothing and my Mom knew I liked AD&D so asked the guy at Borders what would be a good book.
Pawn of Prophesy hooked me at 14 and I have read the genre ever since. Everything about the Belgariad , etc was super simplistic compared to some of the other author’s ethos but I think that combined with falling in love as a kid had endeared it to me even more.
HOWEVER he is super good at fleshing out his characters personalities. The interactions would make you feel what they were supposed to be feeling.
I have that same nostalgic love for the Belgariad and the Dragonlance books. I didn’t have the pox, but similar to you, since I liked AD&D my buddy let me borrow his Dragonlance series. It hooked me, and from there I went to Eddings, and found Wheel of Time a couple of years later. I read my first WOT book in 1990 and followed that damned series until it was finished in 2013. 23 years, crazy, lol.
Kong, Lord James Jamison, Duke of Rillion, Former Duke of Krondor and former Upright Man was at times the single most powerful man in several kingdoms. Starting as street orphan he founded a noble house that intermarried with the royal house as well as the line of Macros
I hated that Feist named his main hero Pug. It galled me throughout the series. LOL
LOL, yep, Pug. Thomas was much mo re standard.
Peeps – I’m out this week, heading out for vacation. If anyone has a blog article they’d like to put out, talk to Son, Ken, Herd or Piggy, or just keep talking on this one, no matter. Have a good week all!
ENJOY Mike !!!
Enjoy the vacation, Mike!
Well deserved time off old man!
Have a great one!
Is that the annual Apalachian mountain trip?
Have a good’ol time. And we’ll see if this place an survive a week without you. 🙂
Have fun kayaking with piggy’s friends! 😉
Least he got out in front of the story. Just checked and the police report with the details is not yet available. So the news break on this will be his “my bad…what was I thinking?”
Tom Brady, the best active QB/player in the NFL per his peers, going for the game winning drive in the Super Bowl on 2nd and 2 has a wide open Amendola crossing and a wide open RB in the flat. He spends to much time looking (probably for Cooks or Gronk) down field only to be strip sacked and eventually costing them the game and the SB. Tom Brady sucks and glad he is not our QB.
It’s a beautiful sight
If he had better pocket presence he could have dodged graham’s swiping hand and got the ball out. He waited a half second to long to go to the flat.
Lol
LOL, perfect.
Woody from ESPN is so agenda driven, that his opinion is shot. Bad enough he played for the cheats, but everything he says is based on players making more money or to further the cause.
His Bell is the best all around back in the NFL fits .
Have a great vacation, Mike!
Quiz of the Day — who is the only NFL RB to rush for at least 900 yards each of the last three seasons?
And the answer is Frank Gore. He got pushed in cause of injuries least one of those years and they always had the guy who was supposed to replace him in line…… but still pretty impressive.
Good one because you would think there would be more but injuries and other circumstances created a void for some of the top backs. The answer is Frank Gore. 🙂
That is a pretty surprising stat. Let’s hope Gore has a few more years left for us.
At least this year for us so Ballage has a chance to get up to speed. Then we still have Drake and him next year.
Walter football has us picking 1st in the 2019 draft. Bill’s and jets 2nd and 3rd. It’s possible, but highly unlikely. Some of these guys just pull shit out of their ass.
Exactly that is just an article to get clicks
A significant number of Dolphins fans think we’re going to have a good year. Everyone else thinks we’re garbage. One of these groups is delusional, lol.
Now we’re the worst team? Whatever! LOL
I am in a NASCAR pool tonight and I have a guy with the last name of Gase. Never heard of him but I hope he wins the Daytona race tonight I would call that irony
Likely no points for you
I got Brad Keselowski
Seriously fellow Phins fans, you look at our roster and you see the worst or even bad team? I do not. If we end up the worst team, everyone gets fired because this is not a bad roster. A mediocre season is one thing, bottom of the barrel is not acceptable unless all our top players go down with season ending injuries. I really don’t get what these national pundits are thinking.
Agreed! I see a mediocre team at worst.
Pressure by Number of Pass-Rushers 2017
https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2018/pressure-number-pass-rushers-2017
More ineptitude from our pass-rushing of last year, SMH. I now absolutely understand why we traded for Robert Quinn, though I didn’t like it at the time due to his huge $$$ hit.
If Quinn returns to his former self, if MR. Wake is kept fresh, and if Charles Harris takes the next step… we should have ZERO problems getting pressure from the edges. And lets not forget, William Hayes and Andre Branch aren’t slouches in getting to the QB, either.
My only concern in the pass-rushing department resides up the middle… just like our run-defense. Jordan Phillips, this is YOUR time to shine as the leader of the interior young bucks.
All in all, I think we’re looking pretty good this year. Let’s hope what’s on paper translates to games!
GO PHINS!!!
Quinn’s cap number is not huge for a guy who has elite pass rush ability. He still had 8.5 sacks last year playing 3-4 OLB when he’s really a hand in the ground 4-3 DE like Wake.
As for the DTs I wish I had access to the Miami Herald but my monthly limit is up and I can’t post what Akeem Spence said about what their approach is. But what I remember he said was, the DTs job is to get onto the guards right off the snap and push them into the backfield while the DEs set a hard edge off the tackles shoulders. He said that allows the LBs to play downhill. That’s also why the DL needs a heavy rotation because it’s not easy to play a ton of snaps doing that.
Spence also said when he signed with DET last year he learned about how their DL plays under coach Kris Kocurek and he did extra running in the offseason to prepare for that style of play. If you don’t play that way and play read and react coach Kris will lose his mind. LOL
So keep that in mind when thinking about the DT position and the entire DL. We didn’t play that way last year and Godchaux has said that as well.
Like I said, all in all, I think we’re looking pretty good this year!
Well a system is one thing, executing is another. But we have some good talent to play good defense. I’m amazed at how some pundits think we’re going to suck so bad when we have more talent than last year in a season that went off track so bad. We won 6 games with a patchwork team. Oh right we let some “top” players go this offseason who were a part of two 6-10 teams the last 3 seasons. I seriously don’t get it.

Tim,
Since when did YOU give a fuck about what the pundits say? LOL 😆
But seriously, you and I (along with most of us here) know that WE know our team better than most pundits, beat reporters, analysts, talking heads, Las Vegas bettors, self-proclaimed team “experts”, etc, etc.
I honestly try my very best to keep an even keel on things (that is, to not to allow my fandom rule my brain… and I’m damned good at it), but our ’17 Phins are going to prove most wrong… GRANTED we don’t suffer key injuries again.
Don’t allow the haters to ruin a season that has yet to be played, Brother! 🙂
Oh I’m good, I’m just going by what others here are reporting about our team like Walter Football has a picking 1st in 2019. I don’t read most of that nonsense unless it’s here. I would love however to sit down with some of them and ask okay, tell me why experts? LOL
I can’t stand the media, man. And it’s not just about politics, it’s about an affront to our (We the People) individual intelligence in WHATEVER it is that they report on, generally speaking.
We aren’t lab rats, though they continue to treat us as such. They truly DO believe that they control our thoughts. Yet sadly… in some cases (the WEAK-minded), they still DO.
Keeping it football… I truly believe our Phins are going to make losers out of the media again this year. That’s not ‘blind homer faith’… that’s football intelligence. Again… GRANTED we don’t get bit by the injury bug this year.
They’re lazy, and don’t want to spend the time to research, so they just cherry pick what some others are saying.
Here’s an example of how it works. An LA radio station made up the word jackhole, back in the 80s, and started putting it out in the media. After a while the word was showing up in movies and newscasts, because these guys heard it and started using it without checking it out.
I guess it’s cool to both our team.
Bash
Steve,
I think it’s more nefarious than just not doing their homework (the media), though you do bring forth a good example of a new term that they just ran with… and it happens ALL the time.
It KILLS me when I hear something that was ‘homegrown’ and it goes ‘viral’, without giving credit to the originator. But again, it happens ALL the time… take it from ME!
And if you won’t take if from me, take if from the legendary E-40! He’s probably invented more original terms that have become commercial than most!
M13, as you and many of us know, the media has become less about reporting news and more about editorial opinions and it’s become fucking obnoxious. So many lies and memes being posted on social media and people just run with it. It’s getting totally out of hand. I spend some time telling my family and friends on both sides of the aisle, not true and that’s not something I want to spend time doing. But they all still run with it.
+1000000000000000
I’m getting EXTREMELY tired of it, as well. And now, it’s becoming quite VIOLENT. This society is decaying before our very eyes, and our schools are educating our children to ACT like this. NOT COOL!!!
I think we all know what the so-called ‘reset button’ will be… but we certainly don’t want it to come to that (WAR).
Short and sweet… “The Greatest Generation” faced war, and they (those who are still living) are DISGUSTED with the way things are going in our great country, what with the BULL $#!T.
Tim
It is All about the clicks True or not that’s what is sad
Why are people interested in clicks over anything else? Does anyone care about life anymore?
Nope
Had this discussion today at my place. Everybody wants to be internet famous, would never have the balls to act like they do in real life, every little emotion put on display, etc etc….
Its absolutely ridiculous. My internet life is strictly here. I do not and will never Facebook. I have Twitter and that’s to follow the Phins, a few on here, and a couple of others.
Bottom line is I don’t need to put out every single thing I do and have in my life and I don’t give a rat’s ass about yours…..present company excluded…. Not trying to impress anybody or trying to keep up with them either.
I can go on and on but I’ll stop now. You’re welcome.
GO PHINS
Don’t get me started on “journalism”….they are just taking the same route…..

I don’t even know if I’m on topic. Had a few drinks…(a rare occasion).

Come on man! Catchup would ya. The talk directly above about the piece of shit media is in response to our RBs being ranked 28th by ESPN (formerly known as the leader in sports).
You see….I told you so!

See Tannehills inaccuracy, he threw behind his rec on a very short pass….very disturbing…..It would seem he couldn’t hit the ocean from a boat!
That one is blocked for me. What year is the play from? I was real worried about his accuracy — particularly deep — his first couple years but he showed some real improvement in the season before he went down.
2016 WK 5
And he did darn well in 2016. When I was thinking he finally got it. Still had room for improvement though. And he has had a whole lot of time to think about it. What do you think he should do to be even better than he already is?
“””ACCURACY””””

From 1 to 99 yards with 300 pounders strewn about your waist and feet!!!
Pass wasn’t perfect, but the pick is on Parker who had two hands on it and had it wrestled away!!! DP has secured many a less perfect pass than that!!!
Rule of thumb, ball touches a finger, CATCH-IT !!!
Or are we talking about the unsportsmanlike penalty on the RB we can’t possibly survive without…
GOFINS!!!
After all that time off and the burn….. betting you Tanny’s passes will be a whole lot better this year though. And he is in close to a contract year. And not worried about the knee at all.
Most famous play ever in Candlestick Park was “The Catch” from Montana to Dwight Clark that let the Niners beat the Cowboys in the last seconds of the 1981 Championship game. Former 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo had those same posts where it happened shipped to his Montana ranch.
Clark passed from ALS last month. This week his ashes were buried at the exact spot relative to those posts where he made The Catch. Pretty darn fitting.
“””” It’s up to Adam Gase and the 2018 Miami Dolphins, to write their own narrative.””””
I’m thinking that in some sort of ploy to motivate his players…
Though
I (obviously) didn’t see/read or hear about it on any of the sports news affiliates..
Adam Gase must have held a two day seminar with all media members gathered,
Called out each by name in front of all the rest and said only (however many times over the seminars duration…
Joe Blow, John Doahhh etc, etc, etc
“””FU you ignorant, blow-hole, know-nothing POS, I fart in your general direction”””, and left them with the Dolphin sponsored seminar bill…
GOTTA BE WHAT HAPPENED 😏
GOFINS!!!
Aaron Rodgers sucks! Glad he is not our QB!
– Play 1 Looks like a fish out of water – self explanatory. He sucks!
– Play 2 Didn’t see blitz pre-snap to make adjustments. He sucks!
– Play 3 Held on to ball way to long, strip sack, def TD costing game in OT. He sucks!
– Play 4 Designed roll out, plenty of time, throws into double coverage, INT. He sucks!
– Play 5 Good pocket, doesn’t step into throw, easy pick. He sucks!
– Play 6 Plenty time to throw ball away, poor ball security, strip sack. He sucks!
– Play 7 Should have thrown away, instead sack. He sucks!
– Play 8 Poor pocket presence, should have stepped up into pocket. He sucks!
– Play 9 Eh, not his fault.
– Play 10 Sacks himself. He sucks!
– Play 11 Sucks his thumb proving he sucks!
– Play 12 Poor ball security, Def safety. He sucks!
– Play 13 ? LOL at DB and his fake fall after shoulder bump.
– Play 14 Bad throw, INT. He sucks!
Note 1: These mistakes by Rodgers (most all of them) are more recent than the video’s of Tanny we are seeing and how long has Rodgers been in the league.
Note 2: Notice many of these mistakes are in the same game against the Vikings. He sucks!

______________________________________________
I’m not saying he’s bad just pointing out some flaws and also joking around with the tannelovers around here.
I think having proper mechanics and being accurate is very hard to teach, he should get better all the time with practice, some guys are very accurate and others not so much.
If i’m drafting a QB accuracy would be my #1 consideration, the rest is easy.
on the deep balls i think Tannehill throws a flat ball, his trajectory is low, with that kind of trajectory you have to be very accurate,
on the other hand if he has a guy going deep and he throws it early and high (to a certain extent) the rec can just run under the ball, just like a big ben throws the ball, it’s much easier to be accurate the higher you throw it.
JMHO
just like shooting a basketball, if you shoot a line drive your chances of making the basket are way less vs a high arcing shot.
Snake Plitskin drained a full court “”line drive”” in escape from LA 😜
Flat throw
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAOAMBoHb4o&feature=player_embedded
Still can’t complain about the result. And if Stills is that wide open getting it out fast is what you should do. Do agree that his touch could be better though, both short and long. Will be real interesting to see how he works with our taller guys like Parker and Gesecki. That’s like shooting for the hope with the small DBs around.
How the heck does Kenny Stills get so open running up field with his arms extended above his head carrying a bail of hay archery target for verification of an official Bulls-Eye ??
No-Matter,
Six is 6 !!!
GOFINS!!!
LMAO
Put up some Tebow throws. He was such a better QB….
NO no no no no, dumb elephant rider….Tebow was unquestionably better because he brought another facet to his game…that of a power runner….that made him a better QB…Wait, what? That doesn’t make sense after all does it?
So I guess ORob is going to rip on Drake, Tannehill and I guess there will be others all offseason? LOL
The best playmaker on the team and the leader…
The 28th best in the league, Didn’t you see Rob say “told you so” up the page? Silly
The only thing I go to ESPN for is statistical data and boxscores etc. Stopped reading or listening to any of their opinion based stuff years ago.
