No more Ndamukong Suh. He’s in Los Angeles, supposedly next to Aaron Donald, who’s holding out. If I haven’t read at least 20 articles written by writers outside of FLA who work for major companies as ESPN, CBS, NFL.com etc that proclaim that because Suh is gone, this defense just can’t be any good. Let’s face facts, this Dolphins defense wasn’t that good with him, so to say his loss will be monumental doesn’t register for me. Enough of Suh, because we’re looking at what we DO have, not what we don’t. As has been said ad nauseam, we’re going to be rotating players on the D-line much more than we have in the past, specifically in the NS era, where he played 971 snaps a season, which is just too much, even for a top 5 DT in the NFL.
Honestly, I say this with no malice, but I think it’s very possible that an average football fan from a different team might not be able to name 1 DT on our current roster. There are no “stars”, and besides the Akeem Spence, who we picked up in a trade with the Lions for a 2019 conditional 7th RD pick, our oldest DT at the moment is 25 years old, and that’s probably our most talented one, Jordan Phillips. With the current philosophy of heavy rotation, the pressure won’t fall on one particular player, although Jordan Phillips will be expected to play at a higher level now, as he’s now “the man”. Let’s take a look at who we have . . .
Jordan Phillips DT – 6’6 341 – 25YO
The 2015 2nd RD pick (Pick#52) came to the Dolphins with a reputation as a DT who has all the physical gifts you could ask for, except the “inconsistent motor” tag. Oh, the dreaded on/off switch and the always included “if this guy ever decides he wants to play, watch out!”. He’s had 3 seasons of “cruising in my opinion, he hasn’t really shown himself to be a consistent player, still “showing flashes”, but nothing totally tangible to grab at. Maybe if he’s rotating in and out more, he’ll give better effort while he’s out there, and I’m sure the coaches are hoping for just that. It’s like a starting pitcher who is thrown into the bullpen, he can just let go for a couple of innings and throw as hard as he can, because he doesn’t have to try and go 9 innings, only 2. 58 total tackles (37 solo) and 4.5 sacks tells me he’s been playing to stay fresh for 9 innings. Time to go out there and kill it every snap young man!
________________________________________________________________
Davon Godchaux DT – 6’3 315 23YO
Godchaux was such a pleasant surprise last season. Last year’s 5th RD pick (178th) had a very promising season. This kid has a great motor, and the results are there to see. He can tackle too, and last year, Godchaux finished with 40 tackles (26 solo). That’s production. Godchaux didn’t register a sack, but I saw him around the QB just missing a few times. This kid has me hopeful, but I love the overachievers. I thought Godchaux showed some good explosion, but he also needs to be more disciplined, as I saw him offsides quite a few times. Those penalties are killer, and I’m sure the coaches are working with him. I look for a little growth from Godchaux, and maybe even a couple of sacks this season.
________________________________________________________________
Akeem Spence DT – 6’1 307 26YO
Spence is the grizzled veteran here, at the old age of 26. This just goes to show you how young this DT rotation is now. Spence is a 5 year veteran who came up with Tampa Bay Bucs for 4 seasons, and played for the Detroit Lions last season. Dolphins DL coach Kris Kocurek was in Detroit last year, and liked Spence, so the Dolphins brought him in. Spence is a capable player who’s used to being rotated in. Last season with the Lions, Spence had a nice season, 39 total tackles (19 solo) along with 3 sacks. Pretty solid for a 3rd guy in, which just goes to show you the potential effectiveness of rotating players more often. I think Spence fits in perfectly here, a guy who knows how to play the game, teach the young guys, doesn’t have a “ME” attitude, and has the ability to start if necessary. Great pickup!
_______________________________________________________________
Vincent Taylor DT – 6’3 306 24YO
The Dolphins drafted Taylor in the 6th RD last season, and I think they got exceptional value from 2 DT’s taken in the 5th and 6th RD’s. Taylor didn’t play as much as Godchaux, but this year he will be in the running for some more snaps, provided he earns them. Taylor played in 13 games, finishing with 18 total tackles (11 solo). He’s not definitely in, but I think it’s Taylor’s spot to lose at this point.
_______________________________________________________________
Gabe Wright DT – 6’3 309 26YO
Wright is a former 2015 4th RD pick by the Detroit Lions. He is definitely at the crossroads here, this being his 3rd team in 3 years in the NFL. The Lions waived him after spending a 4th RD pick on him in early September 2016. He played in 7 games his rookie season, but was unimpressive. The Browns picked him up and put him on their PS. The Browns finally activated Wright in 2016 after appearing in just 5 games, and then the Browns waived him. The Eagles signed Wright of June 2017, then cut him in September. The Dolphins signed Wright at that point and signed him to the PS, where he was finally activated the last game of the season in ’17. This kid has work to do, and he better get at it fast, or he won’t be long for the NFL, which in some cases means Not For Long. BTW, Wright was a projected 2nd or 3rd RD pick in the 2015 draft.
_______________________________________________________________
Jamiyus Pittman DT – 6’1 319 23 YO
Pittman was an UDFA pickup this season after he played right in our backyard at Central Florida. Piitman played both outside and inside at CF, but he will definitely be inside as a DT in the pros. Pittman is going to have to play his best football if he wants to crack this roster. Depending on how many DT’s we carry, last year we carried 4 last season, but keep in mind that DE William Hayes moves to DT in some packages. If we do carry 4, that means Pittman will have to leapfrog both Wright and Taylor, a tall order. If we carry 5, which is pretty likely, especially if the plan is to keep rotating players in, he has a better shot. Pittman was pretty productive at CF, finishing with 138 total tackles (66 solo) along with 13 sacks in 4 seasons.
_______________________________________________________________
Anthony Moten DT – 6’4 315 23 YO
Moten is another UDFA that played in FLA, Moten played for the Hurricanes. Moten was a part time player at Miami, not a starter, but that’s fine considering he would just be part of the rotation early on. Moten was not a combine invitee. Moten played in 27 games in 4 seasons at Miami, finishing with 38 total tackles (14 solo) along with 1.5 sacks. Moten is obviously a longshot to make the cut.
_______________________________________________________________
So that’s where we stand at DT. It’s still possible we pick up a veteran after early season cuts, but my guess is we probably carry 5 DT’s, and I think those will be Phillips, Godchaux, Spence, Taylor, and whichever DT shows the most in the preseason. Wright has the pedigree, and this could be his last chance to get his career in gear, so I give him the slight edge, with Pittman right behind him.

Good Job Mike E !!
Thanks Doggy!

Ryan was always pretty solid athletically, but it seemed he was lacking something in the football knowledge category. After being out the past year plus I don’t get the feeling that’s true any longer. Cant wait to see him shred it this year.
——————————————–
So, as i have said before there are things Tanny wasnt great at that i dont think are going to magically jump ahead since those things take game time to improve on, but there are a few things i think that being on the sideline and spending time in the QB room with Gase and Cutler that may have given him chances to improve even while he was out. The big deal to me is how will the brace affect him (i have heard some of the braces are hardly noticeable), how well has the re-hab gone, and how fast can grow in the areas he was weak at. I think the time off probably did him some good and some bad, so we will just have to see what he made of it.

The OL just needs to do their job, they don’t need to be great, but they cant be last year’s line. The key for Ryan is making quick decisions and getting the ball out fast, if he can do that the D will adjust and defend the 2.5 second release (play cautiously) and everything else will open up.
When your QB is getting the ball out quick it alleviates a lot of stress from the OL, because they can relax and just play, and don’t have to worry so much about the speed/bull rushers that aren’t going to get to the QB anyways. When they don’t have to think too much, they won’t commit as many false starts.
The receivers can do their part by getting open for a change, and of course presnap penalties need to be reduced by all.
Reply
You are very correct Sir! As the PFF post last article shows if the line can give him time he Tanny can be very good.
You do realize that rating is based on what he does and does not relate to the OL right? That rating basically says if he gets his read right and gets the ball out fast he is accurate and successful but when he doesn’t he doesn’t make good adjustments. Thier rating system is based off what the player does in the whatever scenario it is and what they believe was the right decision to make.
it is not “their rating” it is the standard passer rating that has been around since long before PFF existed.
As you can see, when he gets rid of it quick he’s very good, because he doesn’t have to think, he just executes his 1st option from the play called. What I was getting at was him doing this more often, and not just throwing to his 1st option, but actually reading the D.
A lot of that is his pre-snap read of the defense. Most the really good QB’s are strong with that part of their game, he isnt. Thios is one of the things though that standing on the sideline and spending the year with Gase and Cutler might help him. That might be one of his leap forward skills.

No, you are partially right. what that stat shows is when he gets the ball out in under 2.5 seconds his rating was 109.1 when it was over 2.6 seconds it dropped considerably. What this cut off does not show is what the play was, what the routes were and how long those routes took to develop. (deeper passes are by nature less accurate for ALL quarterbacks and take longer to develop)
the line holding up for another 1/2 a second on average COULD increase his overall performance because he won’t be running for his life. Again, it depends on the play called and the routes run. Read #1 MIGHT be a deep route (probably IS) which will take longer to develop. If the line doesn’t give him the time to make it through his reads then that is not on him. Unless you want him to disregard what Gase wants and just throw to his dump off and not be patient and wait for his deep reads to develop.
And you are also COMPLETELY WRONG because the passer rating is not the quarter back’s rating. it is the TEAM passer rating. If a WR drops a perfectly placed pass it turns a 153.8 play to a 0.00 play.

This is a false statement as well. YOU do not know what option he went to on ANY of the 239 plays listed but the odds are against them all being the first read.
it’s a generalized statement, if he’s getting rid of the ball quickly, then he’s mostly throwing to his first option. D brought up a good point though, that his presnap read is going to help with this.
Great take on the DT’s Mike E. Hoping for the best and that they step up, but has to be about the least strong position group on the team. If Phllips becomes what he has flashed at times that consistently, but that is a lot to hope for.
Same time, thinking not having the constant push forward Suh in there might actually help our run D. Yeah he’d make spectacular in the backfield stop at times, but too many times saw teams plan runs to the spot where a normal DT would be and Suh wasn’t.
I completely agree. Suh would be in the backfield and have to turn around and chase the play from behind because the play was designed to go around where Suh would have been if he wasn’t penetrating so far into the backfield.
Was almost like setting up a screen pass. And am sure the blockers would “help” him penetrate on given given plays.
Thanks Stanger – Definitely not our best unit, but the LB’s should be better, so that will help. Maybe the unit itself takes some pride in themselves, and not just Suh and the udder guys, know what I mean?
Unit is what think it will be. Lots of fresh bodies being thrown in and out with max effort on each play, but also with “clog the middle” instructions. And let the DEs do the destruction on pass plays and the LBs on the run ones. But isn’t that how most teams do it? Suh was a special and most different talent.
First Practice TOMORROW! FOOTBALL IS BACK BABY!
Rock, there is no passer rating for before and after 2.5 seconds, there is passer rating. Anytime they are saying rating its their rating scale, thats why you were wrong with the thing about the red zone shit. If you see something where PFF is talking about rating, its their scale bro.
WRONG AGAIN D
Read it.
Passer rating not PFF rating
All they did was separate passes that got out faster or slower than 2.5 seconds Same with my previous statement that you just disputed Passer rating was specifically stated. They were not referencing their rating system.
They specifically say Passer Rating
Good right Mike.
I think the DT group may be highly motivated group this year. Maybe tired of the Suh talk, and out to prove themselves as under the radar and under rated. I am looking forward to how they perform, and I love the rotation idea in that everyone stays fresh and motivated. I think the U of Miami used to do that in the JJ days back in their hay day. They just kept throwing fresh, quick bodies on the field.
Thanks Bookman!
I equate DT to a center in the NBA, if you have a center that shoots from 3 pt range and hangs out there, hes going to maybe have some nice pt totals, but isn’t under the basket enough to get high rebounds and blocks. At DT when you don’t stay close to the LOS you may get more sacks and TFLs and look like an All Pro, but you also may not be doing you job of containment on running plays.
I’d think our run D would get better with the rotation, and guys staying in position.
“write” not right
I think it is both. 🙂
LOL – Thanks!
LOL, good one
I don’t see Phillips as a slacker (no ones word here).. I mean like Godchaux (jumping off sides displays effort) but lack of discipline… A guy jumps off sides and wants to be sure he doesn’t do it again anytime soon, so he might go a lil easier of the following plays..
Think it was o16 that Phillips was the DL with the most off sides penalties with I believe 12, those were plays of effort that didn’t come to be, and the following plays May have been the ones that folks see him APPEAR to be slacking, (along with actual plays that he didn’t make something happen), leading to (he must be a slacker)…
I think it was Godchaux that had three consecutive off sides penalties last year giving the opposition 15 yards without a snap let alone three snaps..
LOVE Godchaux, just needs more discipline..
I’d imagine that Phillips had back to back offsides early on too, but with a lil more experience has learned that “””those penalties are killers”””, so he’s trying to be in more control of his slightly more disciplined efforts…
Sometimes the O makes a good block and Phillips/whoever gets a lack of effort tab put on him, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him flat out not try!!! Though at 341 pounds in triple digit temps, therevprobably are times when he doesn’t look like a full go, so again he gets the slacker tab for a play or two which makes folks think he does it for 40 to however many plays a game per year…
I’d imagine he’ll have a good (contract year), even if he jumps off sides, gets blocked well, or even at 341 takes it not quite at full speed here and there!!!
Love Spence too, I have him starting next to Phillips, but starting doesn’t really matter if they’re all gonna get in the neighborhood of similar reps (long-term) via games/season…
Like Vincent too!!!
Had Wright on my 52 for various reasons, suggested above (rotation, reps, Phillips contract year, etc, etc
I like the rotational plan of keeping everybody, especially Phillips FRESH!!!
GOFINS!!!

That may be accurate with Phillip’s slacker label, but he admits himself he needs to be in better shape, so he can give more effort.
Jus suggesting that at 341 (20 plus pounds bigger than the next biggest, & 25 pounds more than anyone still around that he played alongside of in o17), he probably just APPEARS at times that he’s not goin as fast as others which can probably be a misjudgement of him even on play one!!!
GOFINS!!!
Good write up, Mike!
Thanks Tim!
Rock and Stanger, what teams did to us specifically Suh was to trap him, let him in and seal him off and run through the gap. We use running plays on offense like that too.
You put a more tech description on what was happening, but was hard to miss. And the way Suh played that a smart move. Gonna miss the force the pocket on pass plays, but that is a different subject.
Agreed. they turned his strength against him by scheming around him.
I remember one play last season where the center and guard just stepped aside on him and he, expecting resistance and not getting any, fell face first onto the ground.

There’s nothing wrong with having just lunch pail guys doing their assignment and executing the playcalling up front. There’s very few in the league that stand out, that’s for the DEs.
Thanks ER! Nothing at all man, I almost prefer it. I think this unit will be a unit, not just Suh and company. Hopefully it works out that way
Steve, I agree with D that, hopefully, the year standing at Gase’s hip will improve his pre-snap reads which I also agree he needs to improve upon. Hell I want him to improve on ALL of his skills. My only point in defending him at times is that some folks place blame lazily on him when there are extenuating circumstances.
Then again, 16 year veterans like Brady make mistakes on their pre-snap reads too. I think we are ALL (except maybe ProfLou and Randy, JBB) want him to be the guy and continue to get better.
KV – Just noticed in your handle 17KVFins, that it’s not 13 KVFins anymore. I always thought the 13 was for Marino. Is the 17 for Tannehill now? If so, that’s pretty cool, because our season depends on him, and maybe more than just this season, at least I hope so.
huh? It still says 13KVfins on my screen.
I always thought 13 KV was 13,000 volts. (electrical distribution voltage at a neighborhood level. They bring it in at 50KV, transform it down to 13kv locally and then transform it down ot 4.8KV, 480V or 220V to come to the building) I never thought of Marino’s number. (maybe because I’m an electrician by trade)
On his site Rock, it’s 17KVFins

As well, KV is my initial with an N, worked in the high voltage field, and been known to be an electrifying, high spirited, amperage go fetter!!!

Can’t figure out how to change 13 to 17 here,
But it’s all good, don’t wanna completely eliminate the GOAT from my personna!!!
GOFINS!!!
These lunch pail guys better come hungry on Sundays.
And hoping Phillips will be especially hungry in a contract year. Maybe he does a Soliai on us.
Hell yeah, hungry for success!
Well the way they’re being coached is to attack full speed every down. Let’s hope it works.
LMAO! Cespedes!!!!!!
https://www.mlb.com/mets/news/yoenis-cespedes-heel-surgery/c-287267212
It’s so bad what’s gone on with this team that it is now comical.
Now it’s even more important to trade deGrom. No Cespedes for a good portion of 2019 means we won’t be contending again, so not trading deGrom and rebuilding the farm and getting young major league ready talent seems pretty irresponsible to me.
The thing about Phillips is he’s always good to blow up a few plays and make a big play per game, then he’s kind of a meh in other parts of the game.
Exactly, and that’s why he has the motor ON/OFF label. You would think if his motor was on more, he’d make more plays.
Yeah he’s one of those frustrating guys because at his size he makes some athletic plays that make you say wow!!

Patrick got too drunk on white russians one night and was bemoaning it the next day. We suggested hair of the dog and standing under the shower head to feel better but he said he would get shower water in his white russian if he did. Thus the adult sippy cup was invented. (I happened to have a sippy cup around the house from one of the nephews or nieces and the lid happened to fit perfectly on a rubber Miami Dolphins sports bottle) Voila! 20oz adult sippy cup.
Now, if I could find a sippy cup lid to fit a bucket, then Randy AND that damn library cop who uses a keg for a mug would be covered.

Rock – I was joking about Killer Volts, I’m very well versed in the metric system due to my profession. I don’t know sheet about electricity, except the one time I changed a switch in my bathroom and I thought I shit off the power to my bathroom, and I touched the wires together, it makes you emit a weird humming sound. lol
and some times shit yourself if you don’t SHUT off the power…..
😉
LOL, that too. It was such a weird feeling. I let go of those wires relatively quickly, but I was so surprised at what was happening because I was sure I shut the right breaker.
I don’t think that Randy has an actual “Randy Bucket”, Tim never had a Nose tackle tree, M13 never owned chiffon robes (well, maybe HE did, lol) I do not have a still in a shed in my back yard. Mike you very well may have. Sometimes you can get shocked by the neutral wire which is often shared with another circuit so you can have “circuit breaker #1 off, but it shares a neutral with #3 so you can still get shocked by the power coming back to ground on the shared neutral.
That’s why unless you know what the hell you are doing you hire someone! 🙂

Ah, lesson learned Sensei! Yeah, I don’t usually play with electricity anymore. I want to have some outside lights put in, called my electrician I’ve been using for a long time, he said I don’t do trenching anymore, and I can’t drill through stone either, you need a special diamond tipped bit. Now I have to hunt for another one. Not easy to find qualified guys who can do that kind of work.
Ive not come across the shared neutral setup. They go back to two breakers and the neutrals converge at some point? Thats some serious corner cutting shit there.
I have seen some really weird shit, i would say 70% of houses have some really retarded things in series when they shouldn’t be, or some tying together of shit that should be independent pulls, but that’s not one i have ever seen before.
Stanger you had to be at the SS before 2010….. I can remember being at the SS before then, albeit i spent a few years as a Lurker before being a poster.
I started in 2008. Went to Tins blog a few times, but the Topix days are just an urban legend to me.
I think i was there around late 2007-2008, but i dont think i really posted until 2009 and even then, i wasn’t a regular poster probably until later that year or 2010. When did we all move to the FME? 2011?
I think I lurked longer than I have been posting. Lol
Wonder who the oldest poster on this stuff is.
I think Tim (under a different name) is the oldest acquaintance that is still on this board that I can remember chatting with back in the day. (2006 or so?)
I Know I didn’t start until 2005 or later because that is when I got married and moved to Rockledge from Boynton Beach and I never visited the SS website until after I moved because I used to get the paper every morning.
That would definitely have me beat, even when i was just reading and not posting.
I don’t really remember what year and what blogs everything was said, but when I joined the SS there were some of the mob already there. I wasn’t first, but I’m probably one of the longest standing members today.

And you are also COMPLETELY WRONG because the passer rating is not the quarter back’s rating. it is the TEAM passer rating. If a WR drops a perfectly placed pass it turns a 153.8 play to a 0.00 play.
_________________________________________________________________
Passer rating is a team rating is BS….while a rec may drop a ball from time to time he will also make great catches and break up picks, seems like a wash to me. and why do all the great QBs have great passer ratings?
Passer Rating is a very relevant stat, chances are if you are in the top 10 you have an 80 % chance to make the post season, if you are in the top 4 you may be playing for a title
I happen to agree with this. It’s as fair as attributing wins and losses to a pitcher. Jacob deGrom is the first pitcher since they started tabulating ERA’s, which is over 100 years ago to have an ERA under 2.00, and have less than 7 wins to this point in the season. Stats aren’t always fair, but they still count as they are.
not BS. the QB has a HUGE Part of the rating because he handles every pass, but it is not a “QB rating” it is a rating of the passing game. I posted the example a couple of weeks ago. If a WR catches a pass 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage that traveled only 1 yard forward and then runs 80 yards for a TD the passer rating for that play is a 153.8 if the wr drops this pass it is a 0.00. ALL dependent on the WR. It CANNOT be a quarterback rating.
It can be and IS a very good indicator of a QB’s performance because he is 50% of every throw. so yeah great QB’s have high passer ratings. they are 50% of the equation.
LOL @ ER! How long ago did the lurking start?
i remember Topix, everyone was there first, Home…MF-13…howie…then the topix site shut down and everyone started posting at the SS.
Yeah id have to put M13 as the guy id most suspect is the longest poster out of this group.
D, shared neutrals are a common practice in commercial electric. You can share a neutral with different phases. Meaning if you have a two phase power (typical for residential power) you can share a neautral between phase A & B but not between two A phases or two B phases. If you have a three phase system (typical for commercial buildings that require more power) you can share a neutral between A, B & C phases. If you have ever seen a romex cable with a red and a black wire in it, it only has ONE white wire and usually a bare copper wire (ground) the red and black “share” the white on the way back to ground.
The neutral is ACTUALLY the ground. It is just connected at the service entrance location so there are no mistakes or chances to get stuck in the circuit. . The electricity LITERALLY goes into the ground on alternating current systems after it passes through the appliances or light fixtures. .
Hmmm i guess i kind of get it now, and i have seen romex cable but ive never worked with it, as my experience has only been with outlets, switches and some basic cabling/re-orging room pulls.
Rock,
That was a funny “re-cap” with your 2:53pm post

When did we all move to the FME? 2011?
**********************
I think you may be right, which makes me think I must have been on the SS before 2010, even though that’s when I think I remember starting. I was dealing with Chris T for a while at the SS, and I also didn’t post that much when I first started either, because I couldn’t do it at work at that time.
Little search makes me think first Fest was 11/13/2011 against the Skins. Wasn’t that the Omar Fest…. or was that the 2nd one?
Skins Fest was Omar. If the first Fest was ’11, then I suppose it’s possible I started somewhere around 2010, or maybe late 2009 as a reader.
Yep — that was the first one. Another doc told me the next one was the infamous Ramada year.
I am not sure when I started posting on the SS site, but like ER, I read alot first before I had the nerve to post anything. Had to be around 2009 or 2010.
A QB or passer rating whatever is an efficiency stat. Of course it has an impact on success, it tells you how the QB play was. However, it does not tell the story of a QB facing ridiculous pressure.
Watching the games says more than stats much of the time. Cam Wake could have 1 tackle and no sacks in a game but you saw him bringing pressure and forcing quick throws all day. Is there a stat for not allowing a QB to throw out of 7 step drops to get the ball down the field? Know what I mean?
In other shocking news……..Rock has disagreed with ORob…….more on this latest development later.
😛
Mike E
Best of my recollection….
I moved up here to WI in ’06. That’s when I frantically was looking for Phin news. So that would be the SS days and followed the move to FME. I never had anything insightful to add to the conversations(just like now 😉 ) so just read the shenanigans and got all the info I needed from my one stop shop.
It’s been great and I’m thankful for everyone that has had a hand *cough cough* in running both the blogs.
So a quick THANK YOU to all the admins past and present.
GO PHINS
LOL ER – Quite welcome sir, it’s a pleasure to serve this group with my hand (TYPING!) (TYPING!) 🙂
Stanger – There used to be a link to the SS archives, but pretty sure M said it’s now gone. That’s a shame. I would LOVE to peek at those, some funny sheet went down there for sure.
I think they cleaned everything out when they started a their new site.
Mike, you started the first fest because you were going on vacation and were looking to catch a game while you were there. I remember it then all coming together.
That makes sense. I’d still like to find out when i first started, I’m not really sure.
Isn’t that when the Hex Started???

——————————–
2012 is when we drafted Tanny and i can remember posting about drafting Pouncey the year before that which was 2011, i can remember that because up to the draft we were thought to be going to draft Ingram and i had thought it would be Pouncey and wanted it to be Pouncey. Part of me remembers the 2010 draft from FME, but i think i am remembering discussions from the SS and getting confused as FME. I remember on that draft really being pissed about us trading back because i wanted Maurkice Pouncey that year and i knew he wasn’t going to make it to us that late in the round.
We had to have been at FME already by April 2011, i dont think it could have been the Omar fest in 2011, it had to be 2010.
D – Why are you sure about 2011 and FME?
Why don’t you count back how many fests there have been?
I must go back to at least 2007 because I remember Jahndoh liking John Beck when we drafted him
Lol Rock pointing out an anomaly as a reason why passer rating is a team stat, but I’d add the OL to the equation, when QBs have time to throw they’re all pretty good.
Put up or shut up time Carroo. Odds are against him big time.
Good for him! He is on the bubble IMO he needs to produce soon to stay on the team. Again IMO.
FFR and I were at the SS back in about 2000, 2 formats before the one we all joined up on. Phinmanski was also there. I remember Phinmanski pining for Joe Flacco, on the 2nd format, when he was drafted.
God Tim i think Home hates you the most of everyone lol. You havent even interacted with him since FME and the dude still brings you up lol.
He’s been doing it to a lot of us for years as he gets banned from place to place. Kind of telling don’t you think? LOL

D – Why are you sure about 2011 and FME?
———————————————
I can remember posting there up to the 20111 draft because i remember doing mock drafts and remember the mocks at that time drawing near draft time had us picking Ingram, up until like the week of and a lot switched to it being Pouncey. I basically memory mapped it back that way. Im pretty sure about it, though its possible im having a FME memory and its actually an SS memory, but im pretty confident about it.
I think it’s possible we were still at the SS, actually very probable. I’m sure Stanger has the Fest date right, and Omar came to the Fest, which meant we had to still be on the SS at that point
I strongly believe that if Tannehill plays great this year and has a passer rating in the top 4 some around here will have a different definition about passer rating.
because his passer rating has sucked eggs it’s now a team stat…I get it.
If that was aimed at me you’re wrong and an asshole
go buff your head
My Fest memory with help.
2011 — Skins, Omar banner, endzone split stubhub seats for $22, David’s little grill, Son killed the Pig, Mike E and fam the spark, Cap Stubbs is a god among us men at least.
2012 — Ramada, meet at McDonald’s to convoy, full catering by Gigi, Cap Randy, Walker having a real good time.
2013 — Tampa Fest with GDP not being able to find David and Walker. First Chef Warren experience for Son plus crew, Pig, and me and my wife’s friend from out of town for Ravens. Met life takeover with Mike E, Brian NY, Tim, Pig, Ken (plus cool friend).
Just taxed what brain cells I have left putting that out. 🙂
I’m going to look at passer rating and remove all tannehills little dump offs and recalculate his passer rating to see how good of a down field passer he really is!
How will you treat drops by the WR and / or when the WR catches the ball and then has it stripped from his hands Before he makes a football move and it becomes an interception according to the rules like happened with Cutler and Parker last season?
That’s going to be hard to do also because unless you pay for an advance stats site The typical signs do not track out for the ball went through the air.
That’s going to be hard to do also because unless you pay for an advance stats site The typical signs do not track out for the ball went through the air.
I, unlike others on here, do not confuse my opinions with facts.
I know i remember the 2009 draft from SS, and Yermiah Bell resigned to a big contract, and getting JT back.
Shit now im remembering some of the 1-15 season shit, so that puts me at 2007. Also the Ted Ginn family jokes, and John Beck. Hrmm.
Yeah i think it had to be early 2007 since i remember the draft discussions and jokes, but the stuff that happened in 2006 isnt striking any memory maps.
You might be right Mike, i really thought we were there by the 2011 draft, but you have real life memories to back ya’lls so ill yield to that. Im recollecting about things discussed on one board vs a different one so its very likely im remembering correctly but not the finer details like which board i was posting on.
That is the issue I have too because I was posting at Tinsfins and on SS At the same time
Tin had already quit his site, told us whoever wanted to write to help yourselves..
So what the vicinity of the date is SOS final TinsFins article was posted is when Gary/Fang, Patrick and I went to write for the Shout…
I left CA in 98 to come back to FL..
Pretty much started posting once in a blue moon in 2000 @ newspaper site’s,
Didn’t really start wearing out my fingers till TinSFins, though I toyed often enough with the MOB to remain tight, even after extended absebces!!!
Don’t know WTF is do with myself if not for the MOB & SHOUT!!!
Probably three hots & a cot…
Thanks Folks,
GOFINS!!!
To add to my list above I am pretty sure that Robb never had naked lesbian cheerleaders chained up in his basement,
For that matter if he lived in Florida I doubt he had a basement 😜
Can’t be sure of that, but Ken at least told me that when he was chained down there that he never saw lesbian cheerleaders. His comment was that “would have made his stay more enjoyable.”
Recent draft picks i dont think make the team this year Caroo, Duarte, and im iffy leaning towards it being true for Lucas, Ford, though the latter i think has somewhat decent chance of making the team. Also Saners is likely to make the team but i think Joseph is supposedly nipping at his heels to get the job.
Flacco was drafted in 2008, so that was the SS format before the one we met up on. Could’ve been 2008 when we met up on the SS. You guys had such whackjob names, that I don’t remember who was who, except Tim and Home. Home was Home for SB, that was 2009 SB.
LOL, there was so much name changing and trolling at that time, it’s hard to know who was who. Although some of the older posters like you and Tim had regular handles. When I started posting Tim was Mr. Bungle, and as far as I can remember you’ve always been Steve.
I’m pretty sure I started posting right before the 2007 season, but it may have been right before 2006. It was Mando’s and the SS board when I started. I don’t remember when I took CavKong as my handle though.
LOL Mr Bungle, I remember well!!!
Damn! Been searching to find some evidence, went through some archives after doing a search, found some old articles from the SS from 2011, but no blog comments. So disappointing, really!

D – I still have my ticket to the game (Redskins 2011), although I’m not 100% sure exactly where it is. I saw it not too long ago in a strange place. lol
Holy crap! I just went through my old emails from 2011, holy shit the drama and things that I see. Some good ole names coming up in those emails too, like Payaso Del Carajo, Dink, Chris T., Omar, NJ, Gigi. By the way D – The FME site was created late 2011. Also verified that I started posting at the SS in April of 2010. I may have been reading earlier, I’m sure I was, but I joined gravatar in April of 2010. It’s amazing reading some of this shit.
Stanger, 11 was the first you are right. Gigi put it all together. She was you before you lol. However! It was Fests II and III that I killed the pig. The first one I only went down for game. The next year at Ramada is the first one I got in early for. Walker passed out and the rest of us partied including Capt Stubbs. Gigi and I got a beaver shot from one of the swingers or whatever they were.
And first one it was you and your cool bud (forget his name) plus Cap Stubs as a four spot watching the game. Then it turns into a game of Clue though….. cause darn sure the Pig got killed twice and it was not at that Ravens game (which was Fest 3 — home version with just us two with folks and the Pig). Maybe you hit him over the head with the Tequila bottle in the Conservatory at Fest 4.
Kong – There was a huge amount of trolling going on, it’s amazing how many people had different names and everything, and yet Home gets the all the credit. He wasn’t even the best troll.
I had a few ok several it was fun lol
LOL
For me, I had never been on any social media. I still don’t except for here (even got rid of my Twitter because of all the political nonsense).
Mando’s blog broke my cherry, and I went over to the SS at the same time. I thought trolling was what the boards were all about. It took me some months to realize there were good people with whom you could actually have good conversations. It was like the wild west, lol.
I would troll jetfan on the SS relentlessly.
Of course he was just a troll himself so who was trolling who, lol
I battled “””jet fan””” too, many times!!!
Jahndoh and ffr were topix guys too.
Remember “””The Truth”” ???
I’d have to give the biggest troll award out to ‘fan’ though. That guy was relentless in his pursuit of Tim. He even made that whole blog dedicated to Tim with that hilarious picture. You want to talk about someone who had absolutely NO life. The amount of time and effort he put in would have been impressive it it wasn’t so sad. lmao
Son – I have possibly hundreds of emails about the SS blog, people got banned, or people trolling. I actually unearthed some unfortunate stuff I actually forgot about. I remember Phinmanski but totally forgot the few anti black and anti jew rants he went on for a few days. Shame I found that, I actually thought I liked the guy! lol
Oh crap I never saw that stuff or just don’t remember gee I thought I liked him too.
You saw it, we emailed each other a bunch of times about it. Eventually Chris T. banned him. I totally forgot about it. Tim ended getting banned over it, and me, you and Walker had sent so many emails back and forth about it. I really don’t remember this stuff, but the emails prove it, and I even have some of his posts copied too.
Oh wow you’re jogging memories now
MSN has an article about the biggest blunder for each team. Denver took a DT in the 89 draft, that they thought was a 6’1″ thumper. What they got was a pumped up 5’9″ guy with bad knees 😆
I thought I was reading about the jets.
Our biggest blunder had to be Dion Jordon, right? Although Ytil Green is right there too. We didn’t give up a 2nd for Green though.
At least with Green it was injuries with FF it was an empty head.
Truth! lol
KV – The Truth was also Myth, just in case you didn’t know, Having these emails is like having a time capsule, it’s awesome!
Lol, Myth I know
Are you sure? ‘THE TRUTH’ guy that I remember would type all caps and go on racist rants and said some crazy stuff. Myth wasn’t like that.

Phinmanski was Hungarian, not Polish.
———————————————
I was just playing off the ski part, which is pretty common Polish ending to a name. That and wicz.
Remembering all the drama that went on over the years, this place is pretty damn mellow in comparison. There are the occasional harsh words and spats, but no massive week long blowouts.
We’re all old now
lol, it’s crazy I started on the SS board when I was 31. Time flies
Yeah, that’s true, are we getting old, or have certain people just not made the trip to this blog? lol
Orob still likes to mix it up. Lol
I was Mr. Bungle until some retard created blogs pretending to be me and since Mr. Bungle is a trademark I changed names. LOL
Could have changed it to Mr BungHOLE……
That’s his “Ramada” name
Why is a Pollock hating on Jews…. There’s a joke in there somewhere i just know it…. I remember Phimanski, he could be a terd but he could be a decent dude too i think. Dont know whats in those emails but it might make me rethink the decent dude part of my statement.
I don’t want to post that stuff here, but it was very anti black and anti Jewish. You can trust me on that, and if you really want proof, I can email it to you. I only have 2 posts copied, but it went on for days according to the emails we sent to each other.
Phinmanski was Hungarian, not Polish.
Funny thing is I’m 1/4 Hungarian too
What is this about?
Kong – I can’t say for sure, but I have an email from Myth from December of 2011, and his email was truth1305. I guess that doesn’t guarantee it, but it doesn’t make it any less likely either. lol

Home has to be as old as lots of us, so i dunno maybe its the latter.
LMAO @ Son @ Ramada name!
That’s was funny indeed!!!
Man that means that I was on the SS in 2006?????
Because I remember all the Ginn family jokes!
D – Actually the SS blog was still going for us in Dec 2011. I swear, looking at these emails is really like looking at a time capsule.
Stanger, the other time we killed the pig was the Tenn. game where we got killed but we had a great turnout.
Jahndoh
Krishna
DrG
Bat
Among them
That was the fourth one wasn’t it? The first La Quinta and D&B year? Also believe the first Toba and Dog family one. But could be all over the place.
I can’t remember last week.
Reason why in these years the place has become more stable for years is cause of our admins. Thanks Mike, Son, Pig, Ken, Herd and Twice (who we all love but rarely see).
Agreed. Massive props to these people.
I know the infamous “Hand Blog” was March 1st 2012. I wish like hell I could see that. lol
I would love to be able to see the old comments boards. I know I would get a kick out of some of the old convos and fights.
I wonder if I could even tell which posts under different names were mine. I know I went under ‘Non-sequitur’ sometimes.
I was cavkong for years there, but in 06 and 07 I was all over the place, lol.
Knight, weren’t you someone else before Bungle??
Nope, Mr. Bungle was my first SS name when I started and I’m not sure what year that was. But like I said some of you all were already on there and I joined in. I feel like Walker was already there too.
Did people really blog under different names and troll like that much? I guess I never reallly figured it was more than a couple people. So weird.
I wish I could figure out when I first blogged at the SS. It was pre-Omar but that’s all I remember. I don’t even recall who I talked with much. Tim , ffr and Tinshaker I think. I missed the “hand incident”….doesn’t mean I can’t still give MikeE shit about it. Drama has been a part of it from day one. Lol
Its significantly less drama here than even FME and FME was a big step down from SS. I can fully agree with that. Each stage we have gotten older and we have shed some drama queens so its probably a little of both and good management to boot.
What was FME??
I didn’t jump around, I’d find a place and that’s where I’d hang..
PBP to SS to Tins to Shout & FU no Fme…
Haa..
Did I just figure out what FME was on my own..
Was FinsMobUnleashed originally FME??
Fins mob exoduss
When the SS went paywall, the FME was created. (E is for exodus, as in leaving the SS). The first iteration of the ‘Mob’ with it’s own home. This place was born from the FME.
Cool, thanks ER & Kong,
Strongly agree with D too !!!
What a GREAT FINAL DAY OF REMINISING!!!
WOOOHOOO TRAINING CAMP,

Rock, i do remember now where i have seen Romex. We have a few two way switches in my house and when i changed out those switches it had Romex cable, but thats the only scenario i have seen it used in.
