2018 Season – Game 16 – Dolphins @ Bills

So the 2018 NFL season will be coming to and end next week, and as per usghe, Dolphins will watch other teams in the playoffs. Also as per usghe, we will not be picking top 10. We’re not even good at that! Sometimes if you’re bad, it’s better to be baaaad. Get that top 5 pick, or even #1 pick, and then parlay that into more picks, and really change the roster. No, we’ll pick somewhere in the middle, maybe 15 or 16, or maybe even 18 or so when we beat Buffalo when it doesn’t count next week.

Let’s take a step back. I’m not mad that we lost yesterday, our playoff chances were slim going in, but for a while there, the Colts were losing, so our opportunity was there, but we couldn’t take care of business. It seems like whenever the stakes are high, and the playoffs are on the line, we manage to show our worst. Ryan Tannehill is a big part of that. He’s not, I repeat, NOT the guy that will lift your team. I watch a lot of games around the NFL, and the best QB’s take chances. They don’t always work out, but guys like Brees, Roethlisberger, Wilson etc. when the game is on the line, throw a 30 yard pass on 2nd and 8. They throw a 30 yard pass on 3rd and 10, in fact, they always look to get the ball downfield for a big play. That’s the last place Tannehill looks. He’s a warrior, but he’s gutless in his decision making. He’s not a guy that wants to get the kill, he’s a workaday bee. He’s more than happy to just do his job, but he’s not wired to kill.

There are rumblings for a big front office shakeup in Miami. If so, that would probably signal the end for Mike Tannenbaum ( Executive VP of Football Operations) and Chris Grier (GM). Which direction we would go from this I don’t know, but I’d hope we find a guy with experience that can build the team from the ground up. No quick fix plan, but build the team in the image of what he feels is successful, and sustainable in the current and future state of the NFL. Identify a HC, and mutually agree with that HC on the coordinators, and then build the team. If it takes 2 or 3 years, fine. Don’t cut corners to try and win now, no foolish FA spending. If we take our lumps for a year or two, so be it. Just build it right. The best teams do, and repeatedly are contenders.

If we don’t fire any executives and and don’t bring a new FO, I’d hope that Adam Gase is truly on the hot seat. I can’t be sure he’s not the one, but it’s becoming clearer to me that he might not be. For all of his offensive knowledge and potential, our offense is in the bottom 5. It’s understood we lost players to injury, yet there are players on the roster that are here that I feel are underused. Kenyan Drake had 10 total touches Sunday. He’s you’re home run hitter, the big playmaker. C’mon, it’s not like he’s Tavon Austin and we’re afraid he can’t touch the ball too many times, Drake is 6’1 212. Frank Gore is out for the season, and Drake gets 10 total touches. What’s the problem? Where’s the disconnect?

Forget about the defense, Gase has no part of that, and it’s obvious, because Matt Burke still has a job. Oh BTW, our defense is also in the bottom 5. Yeah, we lost some personnel there too, but it’s more than that, a lot more than that. We don’t make adjustments on either side of the ball, just keep going with what we’ve got. What we got ain’t working all too often, so . . . At the very least, if Gase is still here next season, he has to do 2 things. Fire both coordinators, find a legit OC who can call the plays so Gase doesn’t have to sit on the bench during the damn game doodling by himself. Find a legit DC who has been proven elsewhere, and will straighten out and identify our issues, and fix them. That might even be enough to save his job for the future.

I think we MUST draft a QB next season, and not just pick one in RD 5-7 to say we took a QB. It’s possible the best QB for us might be in RD 5, but then I want that guy competing to start from the get-go, and not sitting on the bench because Gase loves Ryan Tannehill. If Tannehill is still here next season, his reign is over. He is on notice, and any real competitors should have a fair shot to unseat him. If somehow he comes out on top, as soon as he falters, the next man up if ready should be given his shot. We’ve seen this show far too many times, It always ends the same. Ryan Tannehill has never played in a playoff game, and he probably never will. Nuff said!

I wish I had a brighter outlook for all of you, I think we all could use a little Dolphins cheer, but we’re going to have to wait and see how things shake out.

Happy Holidays to all of you!

Enjoy!

    So how did Grier look?

I cannot tolerate #DolphinsTwitter. 90% of them think they know better than each other, and they don’t seem to have a grasp of simple football 101. The other 10% — the self-proclaimed EXPERTS — are generally wrong about any and everything in the end.

This crew here (F-MU/F-ME/Mob) knows so much more than the average fan or self-proclaimed EXPERT on Twitter, and THAT’S REAL (even when we disagree among ourselves).

SHOUT OUT to everyone on this GRAND blog!!!

They were deep fried at the place, I did a warming bake to heat them up then put them on paper towel to degrease a bit. Beef and cheese tonight, the other day also that, chicken, and quava and cheese. Love em!

    ———————
    Just a few random thoughts:
    1) The Purdue team that gave up an all time bowl record of 56 points (to Auburn) IN THE FIRST HALF!! – – Is THIS the same Purdue team that blew out Ohio State by 29 points this season??
    2) Have T-BOMB, GRIER and TANNEHILL BEEN BOOTED YET??
    3) SPEAKING OF “GRIER,” we need to develop a plan to get this guy. THIS YEAR’s 1st, NEXT YEAR’s 1st, and Devante Parker should be traded in an effort to move up in the draft.
    4) LOSING TO BUFFALO would help us MOVE UP IN THE DRAFT, TOO! NOW, if we could just LOSE STEVE ROSS, things would get dramatically better around here.

    • olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

      5) NOT SURPRISED THAT BUFFALO IS a 5 point favorite to defeat the Dolphins on Sunday. A loss to the Bills would leave Miami’s record at 72-90 during the Steve Ross Regime, a full 18 games below .500. ROSS HAS FAILED to make one winning appointment in the GM or Head Coach position FOR 10 CONSECUTIVE YEARS!! –WHAT makes ANY of you think he’s suddenly going to do so IN YEAR 11????? – – – The biggest need for this franchise IS A NEW OWNER who has some football sense!!

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

That’s not completely fair OD – Ross inherited the mess that Huizenga left with Parcells and Ireland. I would say it’s only fair to judge him by the people he hired. It still aint pretty, but IMO that’s the right way to look at it. I’d take it from 2014 on, when we got rid of Ireland, but if you prefer to go with when he hired Joe Philbin, I can roll with that.

  6. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Heads up, I’m swinging dat axe

  7. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

it’s really amazing we are 4-1 against our division yet not a playoff team, if we somehow win in buffalo that makes us 5-1.
i wonder how many teams with that division record have missed the playoffs, i’d bet you can count them on 1 finger.

  8. BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

After watching him last night, I think I like Gardner Minshew over Finley and Daniel Jones. I like his accuracy and how he plays.

    • New Age's avatar New Age says:

Minshew is the best ‘backup’ QB in this draft. He played against ISU much better than Grier and could be a solid fill in. People fear his ‘Air Raid’ skills not translating but that’s just not true in the modern NFL.

  9. BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

I like how he goes through his progressions and an ability to extend plays.

    • BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

He is always resetting his feet as he goes through his progressions. I don’t see much technical wise that would have to be worked on at the next level. I think he would be a really refined prospect. I believe Wyoming was the one who turned me on to him earlier in the year but was not sold on him after a the sloppy weather game against Washington.

      • New Age's avatar New Age says:

He’s been my guy this year since Grier disappointed me early. He’s no Haskins or top 10 type prospect but there’s a lot to like. Guy came in and made a middling WSU team into a contender and ISU had a really solid defense. His numbers and accuracy are off the charts and while he looked bad at ECU, he was their only bright point a few times during his time there.

The Washington game was ugly and WSU doesn’t have the horses to slug it out. I give every QB one bad game and that was his.

      • BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

        100% agree

  10. olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

MIKE E: I’d say throwing blame at Ross IS TOTALLY FAIR!!! – – Weren’t the Dolphins in the playoffs during Wayne’s last year as majority owner?? Wasn’t it ROSS who decided to KEEP Parcells on board?? –Wasn’t it Ross who KEPT, then EXTENDED AND GAVE RAISES to Sparano and Ireland before firing them months later??? THIS MESS is on ROSS and any attempt to place it elsewhere is pure folly!!
    ——————–
BTW, “the word is out” around the NFL regarding Miami’s ownership and FO. REALLY GOOD AND COMPETENT candidates for FO jobs are looking elsewhere OR they are staying put. That’s WHY Ross’s search for really good GM’s and HC’s is doomed to failure.
    ——————-
ROSS IS THE WORST OWNER IN FRANCHISE HISTORY. And the numbers W-L numbers prove it.

  11. olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

IS ANYBODY SURPRISED that Notre Dame is getting slaughtered AGAIN in the football playoffs?
Georgia, Ohio State and UCF would all crush ND if they played them today. So says the head coach at Pitt, who played both UCF and ND THIS SEASON! This is why the “Final 4” will be expanded to the Final 8 within the next few years. PLUS, of course, the Final 8 will bring in MORE MONEY!! And some of it will be SON’S money as he travels to see his UCF boys!

    • New Age's avatar New Age says:

Anything to get it expanded to 8. I don’t think ND is the 4th best team but to be fair, I don’t think UCF is either. It needs expanded to include these teams though and to throw in some more interesting and competitive matches.

AH! And so more beans were spilled… at least beans that I wasn’t previously aware of. Steve Ross had his renovations partially paid for by the “U” and their fundraisers, hence the “U” plays in Hard Rock Stadium on a Saturday night… only for us to play on our torn up field the day after, SMH. THAT explains a LOT!

Sorry, Steve Ross is a DOUCHE BAG.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

He wanted it ALL to be funded by taxpayer money to begin with, then he settled for having it paid for by others… but not HIS own money.

But the U has played on the same field on Saturdays going back to the years at the Orange Bowl. It only makes sense to have the U pay for some of the renovations

TIM: Glad to read your comments on the need to have a solid O-Line. I believe THIS Dolphins regime has leaned too heavily on retreads the last 2 years and not enough on early round draft choices, as they previously did when both of our current tackles were early round picks (James and Tunsil). I agree with those who say getting a top quality QB has to be our top priority in April. Even if we have to trade up to get the QB of our choice, I sure hope we DON’T FORGET THE O-LINE with whatever picks we may have left.
    —————
QUITE PLEASED that my alma mater’s basketball team (FAU) went into Champagne-Urbana and beat Illinois this afternoon in overtime. Reminds me of two years ago when FAU beat Ohio State in Cowlumbus, which led to the firing of THEIR COACH–Thad Matta! Yes, I had an extra Colorado Kool-Aid after the overtime!
    —————
TAMPA BAY Lightning came from behind to win 6-5 over Montreal tonight in Amalie Arena. They have NOT lost a single game in regulation time THIS ENTIRE MONTH!! A win over the Ducks tomorrow will complete a 13-0-1 month!!

    • olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

FOX Sports reporting Todd Bowles will be fired after tomorrow’s Jets game at New England. The battlefield is littered with former Dolphin head coaches from the Steve Ross years.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Well OL and DL play has always been paramount to me. Remember Randy accuses me of blaming the OL too much for many years. LOL

I’m also the one who drafted OG Jonathan Cooper in our blog mock draft at #14 or something like that years back. I bummed out quite a few. LOL

I was also for drafting Jake Long and Mike Pouncey when we did and thought in 2014 it had to be OT when we took James. Mike E was a James guy and I liked Moses.

All I said this year is I hope we found that starting 5 with Tunsil, Sitton, Kilgore, Davis, James. We lost Sitton in game 1 and Kilgore in game 4. Then we used a total of 11 different OL all season. Yay us!

This idea only you and M13 are concerned about the OL is cute, but it’s also goofy, and not true.

Football starts in the trenches, if you fail there, you’re done.

    • olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

Has ANOTHER Dolphins’ head coach from the Ross Era bitten the dust???–TWO FIRINGS in one day—way to go Little Stevie Blunder!!!

  27. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

If everyone is going someone big is coming in. No idea who that is? LOL

  28. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

OD, didn’t you criticize Ross for not keeping Bowles as HC?

    • olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

NO. As you may remember, Tim, Ross told Bowles “You didn’t make the cut,” before he’d interviewed anyone else except Philbin. I believed then, as I believe now, that Philbin wasn’t the man for the job. I was hoping that a more qualified candidate would be hired. But that didn’t happen. Given the choice between Bowles & Philbin, I would have looked elsewhere because BOTH seemed flawed to me. But, given the choice between Bowles, Philbin, and no one else, I would have selected Bowles for 2 reasons. 1–he had a winning record as head coach of the Dolphins AND Philbin, with absolutely no head coaching experience, wasn’t even trusted to call the plays for the Packers even tho’ he was the offensive coordinator—which told me why Green Bay gave Ross permission to interview Mr. Gum Wrapper.
      ———
So, I continue to blame Ross who “narrowed down” his choice of Miami’s next coach to two guys who IMHO, were both flawed. Thus he could NOT have made a really good choice, as time has proven.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Okay not buying it and Bowles had no HC experience either. 3 games as a interim HC? LOL

      • olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

TIM: I don’t give a RATS ASS if you buy it or not! What you DID buy into was to support a regime that filled O-Line vacancies with guys who, in the final analysis, could not and DID NOT fill the void in our O-Line. I prefer filling those holes selectively with an occasional 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round draft choice. The fact that the ROSS-TBOMB-GRIER team chose a different route has proven to be a disaster over the last two drafts.
And, by the way, I never said that me and MF-13 were the only ones criticizing the FO for this wrong policy. Many others on this board have also ripped the FO for not successfully correcting our O-Line weaknesses over the last several years. But, hey, why let the facts get in the way of a wrong opinion???
        ———–
        LOL,LOL,LOL.
        ———-
Finally, let me spell out exactly what I DO favor in building a good O-Line.
        1) using a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round draft choice every year there is an O-Line weakness that needs to be addressed.
        2) bringing in, and, perhaps, signing a free agent O-Lineman to fill a hole.
        3) having a coaching staff that can “coach ’em up” and get maximum productivity out of our O-Line additions. Clearly, Miami’s coaching staff has not been good at this the last several years b/c ROSS HAS HIRED THE WRONG COACHES TO COACH THIS TEAM!
        ——-
MIAMI has IGNORED option #1 for the last two drafts. And it shows!

  29. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Tim,
Then why is it always the skill positions that get paid? If the game is won or lost in the trenches, then why aren’t OL the highest paid players? It’s okay. OL understand they get all the blame and none of the praise. Nobody around here barely ever mentions the OL when we win. It’s all Tannehill did this. Drake did that. The poor fat boys who sweat and bleed every play are ignored. Pretty boys get the glory. Big uglies get the shaft. Same old story. Lip service is all it is. So sad. 😞

  30. olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

Thanks for being a Dolphins rooter who backs his opinions with cash. Being a STAND-UP GUY IS IMPORTANT TO ME. – – i’M GONNA BUY YOU A BREWSKI OR TWO if you show up at next season’s FEST or if you show up at Dave & Buster’s the night before. –Maybe we’ll have something to celebrate next season.

  31. olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

PREDICTION for today’s game in Buffalo.
Miami has LOST 11 of their last 12 road games. And, bluntly, Tannehill has stunk in most of them. Today’s predicted cold, blustery, environment historically has favored the home town Bills.–ALSO, with this being T-Hill’s last start as a starting QB for Miami, I have to wonder what his mind-set is going to be? I expect protecting his own ass (which his O-Line can’t do) will be priority #1. No more “hanging in there until the last possible moment.” Truthfully, I believe Tanny and his mates will “stink up the place” with another dreadful performance as their outgoing gift to Steve Ross.
    ————
IF ADAM GASE has a strong inkling that this is his last game as Miami’s head coach, he MAY do something truly crazy to express HIS dissatisfaction, too. What that may be is anybody’s guess.
PREDICTION: Buffalo covers the 5-point spread and kicks Miami’s ass by more than 6 points. The upshot is that this will IMPROVE MIAMI’S DRAFT POSITION!!
    ———–
My sincere thanks for coach Gase’s parting gift!

  32. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

Unless there’s a clear cut better choice i would be surprised if we dumped Gase.

at this point maybe Mike Mcarthy… Bruce Arians or Jack Del Rio.

none of those names jump off the shelf at me.

considering the injuries this year and three years is not enough time to evaluate the future of our current HC i would stick to the plan at least 1 more year.
after all we started 4-2 and were decimated with injuries.
another offseason tweak and a little luck on the injury front we should be headed in the right direction.

  33. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

    i’m not getting these bets,
i would assume the bet was either Miami would have a winning record or that they would make the post season.

1st of all when making a bet you should have as much chance to win as you do to lose. handicaps create a level playing field

taking into account that only 12 of the 32 make the post season 37% and most of all whom don’t make it have losing records. also taking into account that Miami has only made the playoffs twice in the last 17 years does not seem a level playing field.

there would have to be favorable odds in making that bet,

    betting straight up is tilted.

  34. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

not to mention the 2020 cap situation will be very favorable. i think at this point it’s a mistake to fire Gase.

  35. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

who knows what goes on behind the scenes??

maybe Jim Harbaugh is sold on leaving Michigan, the Jets want to make him the highest paid coach in NFL history.
maybe Ross intervened and bettered the Jets offer.

that’s one way firing Gase and Tannenbaum makes sense

    • olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

FIRING GASE & T-BOMB makes sense under ANY circumstances. And what makes you think Harbaugh would coach for ANY TEAM owned by Steve Ross?? I’ve seen NO EVIDENCE that Harbaugh would say “YES” to a man he’s already said “NO” to in the past.

  43. BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

Rock, It’s “First Pick.com”. Not sure how often they update their site. They keep it up to date more often once NFL and bowl games are over, draft order is set and most players who are going to declare for draft have done so. For some reason, they still don’t have QB Gardner Minshew listed.

  44. BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

MikeE, re: Gase, undecided as well. Mainly not happy with him calling plays. He’s not the master mind HE THINKS he is.

  45. here’s a question and I’m just looking for an honest answer. if the team did what the Chiefs did and went up and got Mahomes, would he have played in any games this year even with Tannehill being injured or would he be standing on the sidelines?
Would he have been the starter or would Gase have stuck with Tannehill as long as he was healthy?

    • New Age's avatar New Age says:

Good question and I’m not sure. I think Gase may have moved on from Tannehill if we had gotten Allen or Mayfield so I think he would have. Would Mahomes been nearly as effective? I doubt it. Our coaches are shitty teachers.

  46. BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

If Gase goes, would you want an Offensive or a Defensive minded HC?

    • I want Ross to hire a real GM, a guy who’s been groomed for the position for a number of years like Paton, Wolf or Abrams and then I’d want HIM to make that decision. And, I don’t want a VP of football operations because I don’t want another guy who could overrule what the GM has to say. Let the new GM pick an assistant GM to work with and make those decisions together but the GM has the final say.

  47. I hear a lot that question “who are we going to get” if we let Gase go but I think, more than anything, it’s about who’s running the show in Miami. If we still had Tannenbaum and Grier making that decision we’re either going to chose the wrong person and/or be very limited in our choices because the good candidates probably won’t want to work with those two buffoons.
However, bring in a highly respected and strong GM and not only do we have more people to choose from but also have a GM who is capable of making a much better decision.
Gase is replaceable. He did little in CHI and if he were really any good he’d be the head coach in either Denver or Chicago. The fact that neither wanted him says a lot.

  48. BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

Also, if Gase goes, do you bring up someone from college or go with a coach already in NFL?

If Tannenbaum is going to be fired then Gase should be fired. Give the new FO the opportunity to put their guy in and build the team the way they want

  50. My biggest fear with only Tannenbaum being shown the door and Gase and Grier being retained is they would reach for a quarterback in the 1st rd just like they did in 2012

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

If you believe the news Gase is going too. Also there is no QB in this draft worth reaching for with the possible exception of Haskins if he comes out which I don’t think he will

  51. olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

BBM: You asked about Asiata?? – – He’s a healthy scratch today–on the inactive list. Except for his thrice daily trips to GOLDEN CORRAL. –How sad that this FO’s only O-Line draft choice during the LAST TWO YEARS can’t even dress out today! THAT speaks volumes about the incompetent people Ross has hired to run his franchise!!!

  52. Ken's avatar Ken says:

Harbaugh is a pipe dream. He is not coming to Miami. I don’t see any tried and true coaches coming here. We are going to have look at first time coaches from either the college ranks or coordinators

  53. Ken's avatar Ken says:

    Lou:
I don’t see us or really anyone taking Lock and Jones in the first round we get what we deserve. Say what you will about Tannehill but he was considered a legit first round pick. No one is saying the same thing about Lock and Jones right now

    • I wouldn’t say Tannehill was a legit first rd pick. Say what you want, but if we didn’t take him, nobody else was either; despite the rumors of other teams wanting him.
If you look at some of the quarterbacks in this years draft you can’t say that they aren’t as good as he was at A&M but they aren’t going 1st rd.

  54. New Age's avatar New Age says:

    Prof Lou,

I agree with everything you’ve said today. We need a real leader from the top who runs the entire process with no interference from Ross. Too many cooks in this kitchen. I don’t think we have the tools to get Haskins and no one else looks worthwhile TBH. I’d gut our first pick unless an elite player is still there at #15-ish, which I doubt. I’d also gut this roster but a completely new group would do this anyway. A fresh start can’t be worse than what we’ve had since Ross bought the team. I hope he realities this.

  55. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

To be clear, I’m certainly not Adam Gase’s biggest fan. However, if we can’t do better, it would be unwise to cut off our nose to spite our face.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

If it is not working why stay with it? We know what we have in Gase. It’s not good enough

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Change for the sake of change can be a very dangerous proposition. We can do far worse than Gase. But as I stated earlier, we can certainly do better… depends on who is available.

    HELL YEAH!!!

  58. rich0322's avatar rich0322 says:

For the last time this season… Go Phins!!!

  59. If the Phins lose today and a few others win like Green Bay, Atlanta, Carolina, Denver and Cincinnati we move from #15 to #10 in the draft. Sorry, but I’m rooting for a full blow out.

  60. BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

M13, I am with you in hiring a proven NFL coach as HC and then wouldn’t mind seeing some top college coordinators who run a pro-style offense and defense picked as our coordinators.
    For example:
    HC:
    Josh McDaniels, Pats OC
    John DeFilippo, Vikes OC
    Vic Fangio, Bears DC
    George Edwards, Vikes, DC
    OC:
    Jim Chaney, UGA OC
    Cale Gundy, Oklahoma, OC
    DC:
    Dave Aranda, LSU DC
    Todd Grantham, UF DC

Of course, the HC would bring in who he wants.

  61. Ken's avatar Ken says:

That play is why I wanted Josh Allen so badly

  62. New Age's avatar New Age says:

I think many fans are like Ross…terrified to look for better because what you have now may be successful elsewhere. That’s no way to live and definitely not the mindset for winning. Gase has a top 3 worst offense and defense this year and no other team has this. Gase went from the 25th ranked O last year to the 30th. Our D went from 17th to 30th. Regression is not progress. We can do better.

  63. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

    BBMike,

I hear ya, Bro! I like your train of thought.

  64. Ken's avatar Ken says:

  66. New Age's avatar New Age says:

  80. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

‘NO S#!T SHERLOCK’: this is Matt Burke’s last game as our DC.

  81. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Is Falk suited up?

  82. Randy's avatar Randy says:

I’m surprised they are okay with Allen running so much today. Kinda risky. I know it’s part of his game, but why risk getting your franchise QB hurt in a meaningless final game? He’s not sliding either.

  83. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Lou – I think Tannehill would have started until he got hurt. Then maybe, Mahomes would get a shot, but there’s always the possibility he went with the veteran Osweiler instead.

  84. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

IF Tannehill plays all 4 quarters, I’m willing to bet he finally goes over 100 yards passing in the 4th quarter, again.

  85. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

What happened in the 1st QTR? My son had some friends over and we were talking, didn’t even realize what time it was.

  86. Randy's avatar Randy says:

This isn’t gonna help our options of trading Tannehill either if he keeps sucking.

  87. Randy's avatar Randy says:

Davis playing like he’s thinking about fishing already.

  88. Ken's avatar Ken says:

No one is trading for Tannehill because of his contract everyone knows we will release him rather than eat his contract

  89. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    MikeE,
Probably, but it doesn’t help if he continues to suck ass and show he’s not a gamer in the last game of the year. It is what people will remember most. That he’s not a winner.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Randy – So if Tannehill threw 3 TD’s and beat the Bills we get a 2nd or 3rd RD pick next season? C’mon, think about it!

  90. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

3 TE set, 2 on the left side, O’Leary and Smythe, and Edmunds meets the ball carrier on the left side on the backfield. WTFF!!!!

  91. Ken's avatar Ken says:

O’lear Pushed Hughes right into Tannehill

  92. Randy's avatar Randy says:

7 guys on the LOS and we still can’t run it. Come on.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

That’s what I said a bit earlier, 3 TE’s, 2 on the left side, we run to the left, and the ballcarrier is met in the backfield. That’s just shitty execution, or lack of execution.

  93. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    MikeE,
I don’t think Tanny has ever been worth a 2nd or 3rd round pick. I was thinking maybe a 5th. Lol
    ***
I thought people around here were saying teams would be lining up to trade for him if he became available?

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I actually think a few teams may be interested, but I also don’t think it will be for a high pick either way, whether he plays well today, or poorly like he already is.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

At one time they would have. Not now. Too many injuries and everyone knows we are moving on especially given the contract

  94. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Ken,
I am really not knowledgeable about how trades work. But, if a team really wanted Tanny, wouldn’t they prefer trading for him instead of waiting until he’s released and getting into a bidding war with every other team that may want him?

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

That’s if you really want somebody you do that. I don’t think you will see that kind of bidding war. I also a trade for him given the contract

  95. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

New Age – How bout that Drake? lol

  96. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Tannehill much better as a WR. lol
