Today HOF Miami Dolphins LB Nick Buoniconti passed away. He was the leader of the “No Name Defense” that helped the Dolphins win two Super Bowls. He was a very charitable, impressive individual outside of sports. He will be sorely missed.
RIP Nick Buoniconti
So training camp is here and I’ve failed to feel any excitement other than the dact that it started. I don’t think it’s the team’s fault necessarily, i think it’s just the nature of practices, how short they are, and how much less physical they have to be to meet today’s safety standards. We also had one of our coaches fired this week, pretty odd at this juncture. You could look at this a few different ways. If you want the positive spin, it’s great that Flores recognized a deficiency early enough and immediately took action. Some guys may have waited around to see if there was any improvement which could easily have cost us some poor play early on. Also on a positive spin, putting the O-line in the hands of Dave DeGuglielmo is a good thing as he is a very experienced coach, coaching since 2004. If you want to look at the negative side, Flaherty wasn’t a great hire for the rookie Head Coach Flores. He was also previously the O-line coach in 2017 for the Dolphins and I needn’t remind you we were awful as per usghe at that time. In any case, let’s hope for the best in this regard.
I was hoping to see some player really show well, and so far it’s just been a whole lot of “eh”. We signed former Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns, who played briefly last year for the Cowboys. I really liked Hurns when he was tearing up the league along with Allen Robinson at Jacksonville. If we get something close to that Allen Hurns we did very well. I was unrealistically hoping for a strong start from QB Josh Rosen. I didn’t really expect it this early but was hoping for a surprise. Instead we found out he never had to identify the MLB in any stop in his football career. Seems so odd to me, I thought it was a given. This doesn’t make him any less a QB, but just something he will need to learn, and Josh Rosen has been a player who studies the game, so bet on him getting this down, as well as the offense too.
Anyone think maybe Charles Harris would be tearing things up? Another thing I hoped for, but it’s very early yet, and he’s going to have a chance to make some hay as the preseason games begin 8/8, just a week and a half away! One guy who the coaches seem to be very high on early on is LB Jerome Baker. He’s going to be an impact player, taking off from where he left last year. He can do it all, run, tackle, cover and rush the passer and he will be asked to do all of those things. An early revelation has Minkah playing mostly slot corner, but I would think by the time the season starts, he will be doing a lot more as he did last season. As long as he’s doing things he’s great at, let it happen.
Things I look for to change in the next couple of weeks. I want Gug’s to try and find that starting 5 as quickly as he can and get them playing together as much as possible. I think the earlier we do that the better chance we have of having a cohesive unit out there. I also want to see guys take step forward, especially the aforementioned Charles Harris and Josh Rosen. Whether Rosen begins the season as the starter is not crucial to me, but to know he’s good enough to do so if needed is. I would really like it if he makes leaps and bounds in understanding the offense and making better throws under duress. If he doesn’t accomplish this, we may not see him this year as a starter unless of course something happens to Fitz or he just plays awful, neither of which I want to see.Training camp runs until Aug 6th, and then our forst game action as I mentioned will be August 8th at home against Atlanta.
GO DOLPHINS!
#staythecourse

I love your enthusiasm Kong. I can’t do it yet. I also like what I see, but I’ve been there before . . . Many, many times.
I hear ya, bro. I’ve tried to keep it contained, but I’m just a damned, dirty ape, so when I am presented Kool-Aid, I drink! lol
Nah man, you go boy! I’m sure at some point I’ll be all in, and then who knows, maybe we’ll finally be rewarded!
I just hope I’m still alive when that f’ing reward comes around, lol.
Btw Bitcoin has no value until you sell at what it’s current value is. It is like stock in that sense, but it’s also more volatile dropping and rising with big fluctuating changes most of the time. The longer it lives the more stable it becomes but all of it could disappear in a snap. So imo it’s not something that all people should feel comfortable messing around with and it certainly wouldn’t be something I invested my entire investment pool in. Kinda like gambling, I do it but Im carful how much I let myself fuck around with
LOL — now David has someone to legit talk too. 🙂
Lmao, 😎
I wanted to talk about wallpaper but I ain’t getting yelled at by that meany Stanger
Just call it like I see it. And blunt does does not mean A-hole, even if can mean a bummer. 🙂

that i have not made any money, this and that

That was what i was telling you, what i was saying was, thats not the thing to invest in without your diversified (ie not all eggs in that basket) and know what your doing as far as watching for the trends, wathing for news that might affect it, etc etc. No one, or at least I wasnt, saying your stupid for dealing in BTC, its just a very volatile investment, that people should have a lt of caution getting into. I have seen people lose their asses because they dont understand the nature of that investment. Mine was just a word of caution.
Worth millions
I hope Kalil plays 1 game and retires
So apparently theres NFL football being played tonight.
Meh
I also dont understand where Stanger gets the nerve calling out people about pot stocks.
lol he’s fine, Stanger is a good person, or aT least I think so, lol
I get accused of thing s I didn’t do all the time ,so that was why I highlighted it
I always find it funny in TC when the media gets caught up in 1st team/starters as if it’s the new set in stone. Players get moved around a lot in TC, it’s been happening for a very long time. You can’t always get a good feel for a player if he’s 2nd and 3rd time all the time. You need to see how they respond with different groupings. Once again, it’s f’n practice! LOL
Especially guys who have been covering the team for years. Every year they do this, mix and match and see how they do. Nothing is even close to set in stone at this point.
Hey Stanger – I can give you some strategies for dealing with that anger management issue that you apparently have.
Stanger doesn’t have that problem, it was someone else that butted his head in with anger and ignorance
wow you are out of it, wake up! Lol Your comprehension Sucks
Rock my man
That was a completely different pass play. Look at the video.
The WR catches the ball on his back shoulder.
That was an excellent placement by Rosen.
byw the pass to which you refer was ALSO an excellent ball placement, as it could only be caught be the receiver. (OK maybe it was a bit out there on the fingertips, but there would be no DB’s hands to contend with in that placement.)
You tell ’em Naples! Don’t let that Rosenhater tell you what happened. 😉
i defended Flores many times about the tank BS,
it was very obvious that isnt what he came here for, and he would lose a ton of respect, and maybe his job, if he pulled that suck for luck tank for tua crapola
D, its amazing that people that havent studied or bought BTC or stocks, want to explain to lil ole day trader Me and crypto invester
that i have not made any money, this and that
i have a diverse portfolio, although BTC is my largest investment, i have 5 other coins, and assorted margin and penny stocks
i know what i am doing because i have years into this, i paid my way, everyone does, the market is tougher to play than it looks
buffet bought BAC a few days ago and it went down 4 percent today, no one is perfect
but buffet almost always wins, because he knows when to buy and sell, and will sell it years from now when its much higher than now
BTC gets alot of attention because it is historys most volatile investment. it hit $10,400 today before the usual evening pullback
its a SWAN investment for those that understand its support line, and where it is going Sleep well at night\\\
when it hits $100,000 in a year, you will say damnnnnnn, and so will I !!!! i will sell all 11
Stanger, I’ll try not to bore ya to death buddy, but I am in finance 24/7 and talk with other investors all day.
When I come here, I plan on discussing football, and not discussing investments, get away for a bit ya know?
but when somebody posts a link or says something, I’m quick to respond, I claim to be retired, but that is only partially true, while I don’t have a job or work in my businesses anymore, I set my family up in businesses, and I do financial investing close to 40 hours a week, I cut down from 100, I only did that because I wanted too, but now don’t, lol it’s exhausting
What is retirement, sit on Your ass, or do stuff that’s interesting and keeps ya going? And it’s exciting watching my profile explode today when the Dow was down 280
There is no doubting Rosen’s arm talent. People are questioning and hopeful about all the intangibles – mastering the offense, leadership, how he deals with adversity, +/- playmaking.
Rosen, hell yea! I never have doubted him, not once
The kid is raw, we have to expect a few setbacks early, but when the light comes on, this kid will make us forget all about Fitzpatrick, he is a franchise QB in the making
I would love to ask Omar if he’s a better reporter now or worse than he was in his 2nd year in the business? LOL
Lol his answer would likely be
No difference, I’ve always been the best! Lol. Arghhhhhhhh face plant
There are only a few Dolphins i believe in,
Flores , Drake, Wilkins, Howard, Minkah Fitzpatrick, and Rosen
The rest I’m still working out, and WANT to believe in
You guys missed the point, Stanger is no meanie, I only posted about the pot stocks because obviously I never mentioned them. We are good though, no hard feelings.
Do You guys love being accused of something You didn’t do? I get it constantly
Lol if so, let me know and I’ll fire away with both barrels, lol
Not this month! 🙂
Right, it was six weeks ago when I sold them, I haven’t even thought about them lately, they suck
David
Have you ever thought of investing in Pig-o-coin?

Why would I be nervous Mike E? I don’t hate the guy or wish that he will fail, I just think he will so it will have been a waste of two draft picks.
I don’t hate Gisicki either I just think he is soft for his size and I like to bust your chops about it.
True, Gesicki IS soft
oh, and it has been three straight days

I know you don’t hate Rosen or Gesicki, it’s a two-way ball busting thing.
Didn’t see the game, but Lou’s boy Benkert supposedly looked good
i missed it too, but i did hear reports that Drew Lock didnt look good, and their coach pretty much badmouthed him hard
what kind of coach is down on their first round pick after the HOF preseason game?
i remember when QB’s sat on the bench for years, then came out and played , Aaron Rodgers comes to mind
but now, a rookie QB doesnt toss a bunch of TD in the HOF preseason game, , and the heat is on, lol what a difference
rookie QB are now expected to be in full championship mode before the season starts, or beatings will continue until morale improves
Ballage is a slightly better DT3.
why do You think that?

SB – It’s a good thing we have Wilson at WR who is heads and shoulders better than Landry to make up for DT4
ha ha , but seriously for a second, have you heard any good news on Wilsons return?
Nothing yet. They’re going to take it easy with him in the hopes he’ll be ready by opening day
you know he isnt head and shoulders over landry,, lol thats just trying to get my goat
Wilson is clearly bandages, doctors , and injuries above Landry
i will root for Wilson if he ever plays for us again, until then he is pretty much a non factor
Yeah i think Pro Lou had it right on Benkert, he’s a stud!
agree on Benkert, he looks the part, so far
in a game Benkert played very well,,,,Schaub did not
Matt Schaub started the game for Atlanta and returned after Benkert left with the toe injury, he finished the game 4-of-14 for 10 yards with one interception.
This post was supposed to be a Benkert response.
I saw a lot of the game, he didnt look so good. Wobbly passes, missed wide open receivers (Collinsworth, said he was showing off his arm, but should’ve put more air under it. RT had that problem early), pocket pressence was poor. Nothing he did made me feel like we should’ve drafted him.
This was supposed to be the Benkert response. Anyways, just read a review on him and they thought he looked good, typical write an article based off of stats, and the stats weren’t really impressive either except the yards, 50 or so coming late in 1st half against a very soft D. Maybe I’m looking for something different, like does he have starter potential? Not really. Is he accurate. No way. Does he have an arm? I’ll give him that one. How’s his pocket pressence? Tannyesque. Can he read a D? Not sure against vanilla coverage.
I wouldn’t want him as my #2 QB. He’s got bust written all over him.
David – I think Wilson was so much more electric after the catch. He turned a lot of nothing plays into huge plays. His YPC average was much better than Landry’s. Different receivers. Landry was more of a possession receiver in the slot, Wilson was a HR threat.
i agree with Your post, but i dont feel comfortable trashing Landry when he busted his ass for us.
i hope Wilson can do what Landry did, be there for us every game, and be his best on every play, thats all i would hope for
Posts are coming in odd this morning, the response goes to a new post, the new post goes to a response.
When I watched Luck in his first preseason game I hoped he’d be a bust, the same when watching Darnold’s first preseason game last year, but both showed flashes of greatness. I didnt ever feel that way about Benkert last night.

Who could possibly look good with that lesbian haircut?
That soccer dyke????
He didn’t look awful, but he looked timid with his throws and he had a few sail on him, which could be a chemistry thing with the receivers. He has several dropped passes that counted as in-completions as well. Not a great night, didn’t look comfortable out there, but there were some decent things that he did. He didn’t let the collapsing pocket get to him at all as one of the stronger credits to him and he didn’t have a clean pocket on almost any of his throws either.

I own the pot stock comment.
David, was talking about BTC and I was trying to understand why you would invest in something that had no intrinsic value, i.e. and likened it to mortgage-backed securities that caused the last recession when they crashed.
So, I queried the blog to see if anyone had looked into investing in pot which I believe has intrinsic value and will balloon to a multi-billion dollar business over the next 3-7 years as it becomes legal nationwide.
Its a commodity with a solid demand and supply to meet that demand. The demand seems to be growing. All those say pot stocks are probably a good and safe investment. The only thing you have to worry about there is when the fact its legal makes it lose its luster, which i do think will happen, so ride it for now and then watch for the crest of the way and get off.
Yep…and to further caution the investor, do your research as many of these companies are woo woo, i.e. not legit. As in anything, let the buyer beware.
I’ve look at some of these and if you’re in one of the early legit companies, much money can be made.
Wondered if anyone else on the blog had investigated this commodity?
@Krishna pot stocks became the frenzy for a while. When you here radio ads for seminars on how to get rich on them….. you get the idea. But there is a product. Probably like the early days of the internet. But for every Apple there will be a bunch of crash and burns.
Exactly, Stangerx. There’s a legit company here in TX, only one I know of here, with distribution connections, current farming and storage facilities, medical support, agricultural expertise/production, and legal oversight.
The most rrecent TX legislative session passed a farm bill to allow the growing of hemp and expanded the list of treatable conditions from 1 to 13 and allowed the prescription of medical marijuana from 2 docs to 1 doc.
stocks in gerneral are tough, You have to get in when they are undervalued/oversold, and get the hell out when they are overvalued/overbought
that is why i sold the pot stocks awhile back, they were way overbought
81 percent of wall street is run by AI now, and AI looks more at trends than it does technicals, technicals are still important, but trends are more important to AI

Ballage is a slightly better DT3.
———————————————-
I get what your saying but the jury is still out for me. I dont think he has the wear and tear on his tires that DT3 came into the league with. To be honest, we make fun of DT3 because he didn’t wow us after using 3 picks to move up to get him. Some of the ire we have against him was that. DT3 wasnt complete shit, there just wasn’t anything dynamic about him. Thats kinda what i see you saying with respect for the comparison you made, and with that i agree but maybe Ballage meets the potential he has where as DT3 didn’t. I think Drake is a bigger and more capable Cohen or Kamara. He absolutely has not been used to his potential nor used as much as he should be. Maybe the offense will open things up for him to take off.
I’m sorta getting into the takes no talent concept. That Flores ran even better.
Sounds like a walk-through day?
D,
That’s basically what I was saying.
That an the misnomer that because he’s big, that he’s a power back and he’s not, although he’s willing to use his power more than DT3.

I own the pot stock comment.
David, was talking about BTC and I was trying to understand why you would invest in something that had no intrinsic value, i.e. and likened it to mortgage-backed securities that caused the last recession when they crashed.
—————————————————————
answer, why do i invest in something with no intrinsic value? i never invest for anything other than dollar values, BTC is $10, 644 USD
\
it has the best and strongest support line of ANY investment, and it also leads the market in volatility and gains against the USD
BTC is hands down the number one investment,
it beats gold, currencies, stocks, and the other coins
i have a dozen other reasons to invest in BTC, but thats enough for now
it takes research and vision coupled with sound strategy and implementation to invest and win, there are no short cuts, i tried them in the past
i laugh at the negative nellie comments, i have seen thousands of them, and 100 percent of them turned out wrong
if a savvy investor spent 2-3 hours researching btc, he or she would understand why to invest in BTC
if no research other than negative articles, he or she will never understand, even when the price is skyrocketing right in their face, they still say, oooh its going to zero
its true its going to zero, a whole bunch of zeros followed by a 1
i LOVE BTC, best investment i ever made in the last 4 years
should i worry about intrisic value when dollar value is what i want? no thanks
BTC is now $10,648, about 600 more than yesterday, and $6500 more than it was 6 months ago
but it is climbing rapidly as we speak or type, right now
Do we need another LB?
sounds like trouble for Chase Allen and Mike Hull who can’t seem to stay healthy.
I thought Benkhert looked pretty good!
He does some of the rookie things!
But he also made some good throws!
much agreed, however Drew Lock was a little disappointing, but its extremely early for both rooks, and i wouldnt count either one of them out
I watched every minute of the HoF game.
You could make excuses for Lock, but I’m glad we are not banking on him being our hope for the future. Allen, Darnold, Rosen all struggled last year at times, but they all look like the real deal. Lock either has years of learning to go or he is a dead end right now.
I have lost all faith in Elway as a QB scout. None of his picks have field vision or football charisma. They are just throwers, not winners.
Baker Mayfield would’ve thrown 3 TDs in the opportunities given Lock last night.
On top of displaying unfixable traits, Lock then made it worse by saying, “hey it wasn’t the Super Bowl, it was only the HoF game.” I would’ve cut him based on that comment right there.
wtf That IS the Super Bowl for a rookie. His attitude is completely backwards. He should’ve looked at this game as his chance to shine. A great player treats every game like it’s the Super Bowl and the Super Bowl like it’s just another game so as to destress the pressure.
“just the Hof game”???? Are you f’n serious, Lock?
Talk about disrespecting the game!!
Benkert looks like a great long-term back-up.
I like the kid, but he is truly Matt Schaub 2.0.
So if he can find a team desperate for a starter, he might have a Schaub-like career.
I think he might end Schaub’s career this year if he keeps playing like he did last night.
The Falcons have big goals this year though, as Matt Ryan and Julio Jones’s windows are closing.
So they might be afraid to go with a raw rookie as the only back-up.
They could always cut Schaub and whisper to him to stay in shape in case they need him later.
i believe Schaub is all but gone already
I was a DT3 supporter at first, then watched someone breakdown his vision issues. Ballage has great vision, so no comparison for me.
good post Steve, i agree
agreed … praying for a better outcome for Ballage than Thomas had.
I understand that SB7 sees he is a taller back so the “runs too upright” crit always comes out, but i like Ballage’s acceleration through the hole.
YouTube has a video out, every dropback and throw for Drew Lock (HOF game).
Krishna, if you are considering pot stocks, always remember to check the share prices against the companies perfomance, review the technicals very close
but watch the candles VERY closely for Your entries, ,most are down now, and maybe hitting their trend reversal pivots very soon
remember, AI runs the market, so when the AI all hit buy execute at the same time, it will be insane
just buy the dips, and set up some lower limit buys, just in case it drops a little more, it will autoexecute and lower your share price overall.
there is no such thing as too cheap, get cheap!
today actually is good for pot stocks, AI has begun exectuing buys, pivot point signals are going out in AI , this could be a good entry for the next few months hold
cronos, Aphia, CTST, should be good ones IMO
i bought some CTST, yea baby its going almost straight up , but be greedy with your buy points, watch for early morning correction dips
I think Flores is going to use his backs better suited to their ability. I mean he’s already started using Ballage as the work horse, and Drake in a more 3rd downish type role. I expect to see both in the game at some point, and would bet the reporters have already seen it, but can’t report on it.
Drake as a 3rd down back should be great, as he may be the best pass catcher on the team.
Drake would be an incredible third down back, but probably on a better team. Too valuable for us to not use in tandem. But maybe the new scheme will be more pick the right guy for the moment rather than series by series.
The Giant scouts must be giving a big Finger to the uneducated about now???
SB – What’s a power back? Do they wear mittens?
they wear leather gloves made in malaysia
“We’re talking about practice! We’re talking about practice… We ain’t talking about the game! We’re talking about practice, man!”
that wasnt the super bowl last night? lol practice!
Lol, but not that AI.
lmao !
LOL, NICE! Both got picked up.
Steve, thanks for staying up all night with those anger management classes i suggested, it really paid off! You are in a much better mood today, lol just jokin around buddy, its more fun to laugh than argue, even if the jokes are bad
i still think You are a great guy, even if we disagree on some things
Mike,
The power back is a mythical creature who can turn back time to the 1970s by gaining no more than 10 yards on first down run plays.
@sb7 — actually thinking that mythical creature may come to life in the next say 5 years. Defenses are getting smaller and faster in the passing age. Could be some team goes all Hogs and Riggins and just grinds them up.
^^^
LOL @ SB – Do they wear mittens?
They draw strength from the earth’s core so no need for mittens.
I take it that’s his response to why he ran to the wall?
Actually, no. It was a comment in reference to the Fitz in how he is the leader so far, i.e. Rosen to stay motivated and on his toes to get better.
Flores explanation for running the wall is that the coaches messed on D as well as the players. And, his quote, “it all starts with me” and therefore he ran to the wall, too.
This week flew by, next week will take forever to get to Thursday.
Simple minds talk about other people, average minds talk about events, brilliant minds talk about ideas.
Flores sure does talk a lot about ideas.
You always here young coaches talking about what they took from the coaches they coached under, then put their own spin on it to create some hybrid mess. Let’s see how this hybrid mess plays out.
We’ve all discussed here the importance of a running game. Lol, some more than others.
We’ve hated the killer penalties, that came from lack of preparation and lack of attentiveness. We’ve hated the soft play, and lack of in game adjustments.
Everything I’ve heard, especially from guys that are pessimistic, have mention those very things above.
It’s really hard not to like Flores, and not be again on the bandwagon, even though most here say they need to see it first.
isn’t the superbowl in miami this year? that’s where home got his handle, “home superbowl”
we’re going to the superbowl this year/
all this talk about how great Flores is; is just talk, he is saying all the right things though i just hope it translates to the playing field.
Harbaugh took the 49ers to the playoffs right away, as have some of our recent ex-coaches, but taking this team to the playoffs this year might be a bit much, and might not be a good thing. Just played disciplined and improve as the year goes on.
Baker may be trying to carry the team on his back, if you believe what the reporters are saying.
I’d be surprised, if by the end of the year we aren’t happy with our D.
All we have right now is hope and it sure beats hopeless.
Fuck the scrimmage game got canceled
Shit I just say this!
I was looking forward to the (all-out) from the team!!!!! 😦
I’m just excited to see what the team looks like. I don’t have high expectations but they’re not low either. I also don’t care who starts or plays where or the most. I just want to watch it and see progress moving forward.
Thinking this season will be like 16 3rd preseason games, but then I watch those games with interest.
Perfect season is on NFLN right now.

I was a DT3 supporter at first, then ………….
I have been a supporter of MOST Dolphins players for the past 30 years, but I am burned out now. I am a broken fan. I can’t root for another team but really am sick of this team. I am so jaded that I expect the current regime to fail. (Plus this is the SAME regime because the scouting team and GM are the same people for the past 2-15 years

ELO, is great, i think they just did their last gig on tour at Pittsburgh.
Nice! I would love to see ELO live.
Kong – I used to love when they played “Fire on High” before an NFL game when they were describing the matchup. Remember that? That was a great instrumental

probably a good thing to cancel the scrimmage, pre season is enough of a scrimmage and we probably avoided crucial injuries by doing so.
I’m fired up for this season. I get fired up every year and if/when we suck I deal with and don’t cry like a little rock, I mean girl.
Has Albert Wilson been a full participant and full go in practices?
Si
Thanks, that’s great news. He should be ready to rumble when the season starts.
