Clearly Robert Pattinson turned her to girls.

Bye week. Bye players, bye wins, bye respectability, bye competitiveness. here we sit with four games played and the Dolphins are the joke of the league. Scoring a measly 26 points while giving up an astonishing 163 points in the four games. To put that in perspective the next closest team to the Dolphins is the Redskins at 118 points, wow.

So we have draft picks, cap space and hope and that’s about it.  Well we have Xavien Howard too, but who else is honestly safe going forward. Who do we have to build on? The O-line is once again a MASH unit although Michael Dietermaxresdefault appears to be a piece to build on. Son is intrigued by Evan Boehm. Good luck naming another absolute building block for the offense. Who else on the Defense then? Wilkins of course along with Baker and McMillan. Five building blocks for the future with two of them being rookies. We have plenty of guys who show potential but so far that’s all it is. So with 12 games left in a season that’s been pushed aside already, which guys are in for the long haul? Which guys can become building blocks going forward, face it there will be upwards of 35 jobs up for grabs next off season. We have tons of cap space and tons of draft picks.

Hope. Y’all are lifers just like me. As fans all we can do and have is hope, Hope Rosen works out. Hope trading Tunsil doesn’t bite our ass. Hope setting up an environment where a Minkah Fitzpatrick demands a trade is ok. 61xxnc6hhnl._sx425_Hope letting so many vets walk instead of building on them is alright. Hope Grier and his staff can put together an amazing draft. Hope Coach Flores and his staff can walk the walk and deliver on a system that works, that players buy into and take responsibility for. Hope we see some playoff games as we continue to age. Hope a once proud franchise can get back to being respected and feared.  Hope the next 12 games offer some glimmer of light and expectation. Hope Mostly that Grier doesn’t fuck this up as bad as Ireland did.

“You’re not confused if you’re bisexual. It’s not confusing at all. For me, it’s quite the opposite.” _Kristen Stewart

I’ve yet to have a game broadcast local so I’ve been to the bars to watch the games. Its tough to really focus and the looks I get would ordinarily piss me off but there’s nothing I can say or do when we’re down by 20 or more and it’s ugly. Dolphin gear on that I can’t get home fast enough to tear off.  I’m doing my part in an ugly situation, I’m being a loyal fan, I pretend to smile when I say “but wait til next year”, yada yada bullshit. Where’s the girl?

Ahhh!

Hope Y’all, hope

Attempts to contact Ms, Stewart have not been answered (imagine that) but our sincere gratitude and congratulations go out to this years winner.

one thing is for certain, we’re still not sure about the qb of the future here.

  2. ocalarob says:

i wonder if we could open a pay pal account, those that want to play every week deposit $10 into that account, pick all the games and the one with the most correct picks takes the pot.

    • stangerx says:

Think the main problem in that is the “we.” Not a joint activity thing…. and would take some work.

      • ocalarob says:

it would be kool, do you think you could have it up and running before thurs game?

      • ocalarob says:

one trustworthy person would have to open the account, then whomever wants to play can just add money to that account via paypal, it would not be a joint account

      • ocalarob says:

maybe we just do the sunday day games, leave out thurs sun & monday night games

      • stangerx says:

When I said could not be “we” was not suggesting the “you” would be “me”. But having done a fest or two….. like herding cats. So yes would be unworkable with the Thurs games in there.

      • ocalarob says:

not sure i understand but i would have no problem depositing $10 into your account on a format like this, i know you’re a trustworthy guy.

      • stangerx says:

You asked “do you think you could have it up and running before thurs game?” Hence my answer.

  3. ocalarob says:

i know rosen didnt have much time, i think a lot had to do with play calling, early these redskins were pinning their ears back coming after rosen, a timely draw play or screen would have slowed that shit down, they finally did a couple of screens for huge plays.

they are not very good at screens, you have to sell (you’re in trouble) to the opposing D, when we run it, looks like just another play.

got to pin that on the coaching and the OC

  4. ocalarob says:

What we could do is collect all the pics privately, and make a deadline, after the deadline make the picks public on the site,
the people with the most correct picks takes the pot, if some are tied they split it.

  5. sb7mvp says:

I still can’t even get over how anti-climatic that last play was. There probably would have been more excitement if they had just taken a knee.

    • stangerx says:

Was shocked it even happened. And props to the Pig. I was rushing to get to the bathroom before overtime and he said “better wait they might go for 2.” DIdn’t believe it for a second but he was right. Why? If was a tanking theorist would have something to point to now.

  6. ocalarob says:

    make your picks

    chiefs at broncos ……
    Rams at Falcons
    texans at indy
    Vikings at lions
    Jax at Cincy…
    chargers at titans
    ravens at seahawks
    eagles at dallas
    saints at bears
    Raiders at packers
    49ers at redskins
    miami at Buff
    patriots at jets

Link to first overal draft picks in history through 2013

    http://www.mynfldraft.com/NFL-First-Overall-Draft-Picks

    FYI
    2014 – Clowney
    2015 – Winston
    2016 – Goff
    2017 – garret
    2018 – mayfield
    2018 – Murray

  9. The Flying Pig says:

Saying tanking doesn’t work is unadulterated bullshit
    Sure it might not work
But the odds of having the first overall pick be a ball of fame are much greater than any other pick

    Drafting isn’t a science
But it is the foundation of building your team
And increasing the odds for better players is obviously effective
15 of the last 20 overall picks have made the pro bowl
    That’s 80%

I’ll take those odds any day of the week

  28. mf13ss says:

I keep hearing people on this site singing the praises of Michael Deiter, and continuously saying that we just need to keep drafting Wisconsin O-Linemen. And here I thought I was the only one who noticed Deiter’s lack of competence… until I saw Wyoming’s 9:08 PM post this evening. THAT is what I’ve been seeing out of Deiter thus far.

Yes, Deiter did alright in a pinch at LT a couple weeks back, but he’s been anything but flawless from his LG position. Yes, Deiter doesn’t have a reliable LT to take some of the rookie pressure of off him, as well. Yes, I get it.

But to actually think that Deiter has been anything above average is an outright farce. Here’s to hoping he keeps getting better: I have faith in him going forward. But let’s not pretend that he’s anywhere CLOSE to being solid for us thus far. Geez! And if anyone thinks I’m nitpicking over one play yesterday, you haven’t been watching the games this year! Just sayin’… 🙂

    • Tim Knight says:

He’s a rookie and I’ve seen OL getting beat like that every week in games I watch. If this is the case in the next couple of years over and over then there is a problem. Can you even name the Dolphins starting OL because I can’t? It changes week to week and so do a lot of position groups.

I’ve also seen Deiter knock opponents off the ball and drive them into the ground. It’s about learning how to be consistent. Fans and media are too quick to criticize young players when they struggle, waiting to pounce and ignoring their good plays.

  29. Ken says:

    • Tim Knight says:

Someone I’m friends with on FB posted something that reminded me of this.

A friend and I went to see Robert Plant back in the 80’s at the Hartford Civic Center. We were teens. It was a crazy night all around. We got lost going home, were low on gas and had to wait in a Dunkin Donuts until a gas station opened at 4:30 or 5:00am.

We eventually got gas and asked for directions to get out of there. So we’re on this really old spooky looking road going down this hill and we see train tracks but no crossing lights or anything. We look at each other and say how would you know if a train is coming? So we cross the tracks and after we’re about 15-20 feet across the tracks a train goes flying by behind us. We pulled over as we were really shaken up. We refer to it as the ghost train, or we just happened to avoid being a story the next day that reports “car struck by train in the early morning and two male teens from NJ were killed.”

We got home at like 7:30am and stayed outside trying to figure out what we experienced. Our Mothers were pissed at us because we were both blowing off work the next day but they could see we were still visibly shaken. My friend and I still discuss it from time to time and confirm that we both experienced the same thing. It really was a paranormal experience.

    Joe Schad

    @schadjoe
DeVante Parker of Miami Dolphins is tied for 7th in the NFL with 17.6 yards per catch. He is tied with Jarvis Landry of the Cleveland Browns.

i can feel the love this morning, but only one thing wrong with Your compare, the stats i revealed were last week , and subject to change week to week.

also Parker doesnt have the minimum of 20 catches that i used in my point last week, that didnt include this weeks games.

but even adding on an additional week , Parker only has 13 receptions, too small of a sample

nice try though, but if Parker gets about a dozen receptions per game in the next couple games , he could catch up to Landry receptions and give us a nice compare

but it wont happen, Parker has never, and could NEVER match Landrys production

  34. honestly, none of the Dolphins are really worth talking about, this is clearly the worst team in the NFL, and is all but guaranteed to pick first in the 2020 draft

Today’s TAMPA BAY TIMES has an article by Martin Fennelly that all Dolfans might find interesting. It deals with the upcoming “BUST BOWL” in Nashville on Sunday as Tampa Bay visits the Titans.
#1 draft pick in 2015, Jameis Winston, wil QB the Bucs while the #2 2015 pick, Marcus Mariotta, will lead the Titans.

Or maybe he won’t. Titan’s HC, Mike Vrabel, will announce later today if Ryan Tannehill will replace Mariotta as the starter. Yes, THAT RYAN TANNEHILL.

Winston threw 5 picks and lost 1 fumble in his ultra-ugly loss to Carolina in London last Sunday. Meanwhile, Mariotta was yanked for poor play in the 3rd quarter in Denver. Tanny came in to pass for 144 yards. But he was sacked 4 times in less than one half of play.

Poor O-Line play was a major factor in both losing performances by the top 2 picks in 2015. Two reserve linemen, Josh Wells and Earl Watson, started for Tampa because of injuries to former starters. Meanwhile, the Titans’ O-Line gave up 7 sacks and allowed way too many BIG HITS to both Mariotta and Tannehill. “It’s hard to play well when you’re getting the crap beat out of you,” daid one observer. However, these poor performances have occurred way too often for both of the former top 2 picks of 2015. Both teams may have new startering QB’s in the near future.

TWO big lessons stand out. #1, BUILD AN O-LINE WITH SOME DEPTH if you’re drafting a rookie quarterback. And, #2, consider drafting a QB who is very mobile and who throws well on the run. Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes is a perfect example of such a quarterback.

    O-LINE WITH DEPTH
MOBILE QB WHO THROWS WELL ON THE RUN
    DO IT!!
    ———
In the last 10 years, Miami has tried to build a title contender WITHOUT building an O-Line with depth. It hasn’t worked. WILL SOMEONE PLEASE WAKE UP???

I’m NOT a fan of ‘hot’ sauces/dips/dressings, but I actually like wasabi. Any wasabi I’ve ever had hits hard initially for a few seconds, but shortly becomes most palatable.

  41. ocalarob says:

The DE went so wide that it left a lot of space for the DT to get around Deiter,

IMO Drake has to do a better job of assessing where the pressure is coming from, He chipped the wrong guy.

    • ocalarob says:

Drakes first responsibility should be to assess any pressure coming from the left side, as the T.E. was on the right.

it shouldn’t be that difficult, he has 2 guys to choose from and he chose wrong, he’s to worried about getting out of the backfield to catch a dump off, what’s the point if you dont give your qb time to throw it.

      • Tim Knight says:

Blocking is a collective assignment where everyone has to be on the same page. One mistake can destroy a play.

    ——————
It’s difficult to become consistent when the guys lined up beside you are consistently inconsistent. I don’t like it when rooks develop bad traits due to this fact. But like I said, I have faith in Michael Deiter going forward… so long as we get this O-Line the help it needs in the 2020 Draft/FA.

And we’d BETTER get it done on the O-Line, or the QB we draft next year is going to look every bit as lost as Josh Rosen does right now.

    • Tim Knight says:

We need to sure up a lot of areas of this team. We need talent across the board. Bring in the best players you can and keep progressing. We’re not going to be a complete team overnight. The 2020 offseason is going to be very important as we all know.

  44. Randy says:

It’s rare for a rookie to play well on the OL. Fans are just so impatient these days. Can we give these young kids even a year to develop? I could highlight every single OL in the league and probably find 2 or 3 plays a game where they look bad. It happens. Deiter is not an elite athletic stud OL, but he’ll be fine. WI OL are some of the most technically sound linemen in college. They are coached right.

    • Tim Knight says:

Agreed. We all know how much chemistry means on the OL as well but the Phins just don’t have the right guys yet to put a quality 5 together. They’re still evaluating a lot of these guys.

  45. Mike E. says:

What’s happening everyone? Curious for those who watched the game on TV, can anyone tell me how many times we used 6 OL on the field? Also, can anyone tell me who the starting 5 OL were? Was it Webb at LT, Dieter at LG, Kilgore at C, Boehm at RG and Jesse Davis at RT? It looked to me like they were shuffling things around, moving guys from right to left and vice-versa, but it’s hard to tell from up high

  46. Tim Knight says:

The Rams traded Marcus Peters than traded for Jalen Ramsey for two 1st rd picks and I believe a 4th.

  50. Tim Knight says:

Didn’t Rosen start 13 games last year in Arizona? They were the worst team last year and we’re right there this year. Maybe his first two seasons won’t even be enough.

  51. Tim Knight says:

We’re not contending next year for a title so after we sign some FAs we feel fit the team, the draft should be all out BPA regardless of position. That’s how your roster gets better and deeper.

  52. Phindog says:

Phindog family back home in SoCal. Had a great time at the Fest !! Can’t wait until next Fest.

  53. CavalierKong says:

    Tim,

Cheers, and no worries, bro. I’ve enjoyed this year’s ride. We were lucky to get past Atlanta, and the whole year was much better than I expected. The Nats are playing lights out right now, and are earning their trip.

    • Tim Knight says:

Agreed. The Mets did the same for me. They made it fun but not as far. Those 20+ blown leads in the 7th and on before the all-star break were too much to overcome. They went from 11 under .500 to 10 over at the end. Not easy to do and they still fired their manager.

I don’t like the Nats going to the WS but it’s kind of sweet that Mr. Overrated isn’t part of it. LOL

  54. ElephantRider says:

RT17 getting the start for TN.

Sorry most people here, but I’m rooting for the guy to play well. Always will.

    • CavalierKong says:

I’m rooting for him too. It’s not his fault he’s a backup talent. He always gave us his all, and he didn’t bad mouth us on his way out. I hope he can thrive in Tenn as long as it isn’t to our detriment.

  55. The Miami Dolphins went for the win in Sunday’s one-point loss to the Washington Redskins on a play that failed so miserably it almost looked as if they didn’t really want to score.

Hogwash, says Dolphins offensive coordinator Chad O’Shea, who defended his call, saying he’d make it again if in a similar situation.

“I think it’s easy to obviously look back at those decisions, and I’ve learned from all the decisions I’ve made,” O’Shea said, via the Miami Herald. “I’ve tried to look back and have confidence in the decisions I’ve made and try not to second-guess myself. I’ve certainly learned from the decisions I’ve made.

We all agree that this is an extended evaluation year, right? If the eval on Rosen is already complete, then it makes sense to go to Fitz to get a better look at the rest of the offense. Rosen struggles to get his protection calls correctly made, it’s why he’s taken 16 sacks…

on 195 snaps (1 per 12) compared to only 6 for Fitz on 114 snaps (1 per 19) — and that includes that season opener where Fitz was essentially running around Hard Rock Stadium like a parent who lost a child. Go back and watch Miami’s game plan Sunday — everything behind the LOS.

And that’s because the QB took 3 sacks on the first 4 snaps. Just watching it post-snap, it looks like the line’s fault, and lot of it is. But the line is better w/ Fitz — has been every time he’s played. What does that tell u about his ability to get the right protection call?

    • stangerx says:

You’d sorta hope the grizzled vet Harvard grad would be better at protection calls though. And yeah Fitz looked better on Sunday, but then he did walk in fresh in the 4th Q of a heat game. Will bet you the happiest people in the stadium when we went for 2 and knew would be the last play wad the Skins D.

  59. dbolt48 says:

Rosen has his opportunity & didn’t take advantage of it. Probably didn’t endear himself to coaches and teammates when TMZ caught him in LA during the bye week clubbing & getting ready to be a pipe layer. You have to wonder if there was a full commitment to the game plan by Rosen.

    • stangerx says:

Down day for Rosen. Lots of games left though. And has at least shown something in two first halfs.

      • dbolt48 says:

I just question what has went on behind the scenes w/ him. I wanted it to work because that would be best for the team.

      • stangerx says:

I still want it to work too, even if only means end up with a top end #2 QB for the rest of his rook contract. And see no reason why can’t be at least that.

      • dbolt48 says:

I’d like that too, but I believe everything comes down to Rosen’s commitment. I think this staff demands you be fully committed to the team, even during your bye week, or they’ll have little use for you. He has the rest of the year to show if he buys in or not.

  60. New Age says:

The media is at it again. They want Rosen, so Flores must start Rosen or gets the back seat driver treatment. Rosen was terrible. In all phases he looked like a rookie playing his first game. He needs a LOT moire work and when he’s improved significantly, we can try this experiment again.

It would be nice if the media, who are experts at nothing, could give several viewpoints instead of just one. You can’t believe a media that pushes narratives as hard as the American one does in all aspects of coverage. It’s embarrassing to read. When Rosen plays better than Fitz, then he will play again. That’s how every coach supposedly does it so why wouldn’t Flores? He’s doing the same thing as Vrabel. I can barely read their garbage anymore.

    • dbolt48 says:

The last 2yrs the narrative game w/ the local beat writers has been worse as more have piled on with this including Barry Jackson who used to be even keeled in his reporting.

    • stangerx says:

New Age — if you are covering the team you need headlines that get people to click. Seems on real story lines to offer these days are RoseFitz and tank or not.

      • New Age says:

I just get tired of the hypocrisy, honestly. It seems like they think we have 10 second attention spans and the memory of gnats. Are we tanking or not tanking? They supposedly abhor tanking but don’t want the best QB playing. Once again, they are experts at nothing. We aren’t the Rams. We don;t have the resources yet to go all in so why would we spend massive money this year? None of their narratives make any sense.

  61. pheloniusphish says:

If the team becomes good, the local media might have to actually analyze and write. Can’t have that. Finding fault, second guessing, and laying blame is way easier.

It’s time for a new article. We have reached Bills week and are still on bye-non-babe. 1048 comments. I can’t comment from my Iphone. I log in and it goes to the top of the page. I scoll to the bottom and I am not logged in.

    Here is the post:

Dolphins suck, blah blah blah. Comment among yourselves.

The Dolphins do kinda suck . . .

DBolt – Glad you got on bud!

  65. Mike E. says:

Stanger, when I watch at home I can change the channel. Watching at the game was fucking painful

  66. dbolt48 says:

The good thing I’ve seen from the team so far this season is that the young D players seem to be growing and adjusting to the system. It’ll be nice when they add some more players who are shot above subpar to the roster.

  67. dbolt48 says:

As of now I think Miami is going to win a few games believe it or not. I dont know if it’ll be enough to knock us out of the #1 pick & Tua, but if it is I think Fromm is the guy they target & doesn’t guarantee it’ll be w/ our first rd1 pick, more likely our second.

  71. Ken says:

For the first time I am starting to question Flores. Not so much that he is starting Fitzpatrick but that he is starting Fitzpatrick just a couple of days after announcing Rosen is the starter for the rest of the season. It really makes it look like he doesn’t know WTF he is doing.

  72. Ken says:

    Welcome back Dbolt

  73. TryPod says:

I watched Fromm just last weekend, against “supposed” lesser talent; he did not look like starting material, IMHO. And I still don’t get the Tua hype- reminds me so much of the Manti Teo hype of a few years back. But I’m not the “football mind” most of you are, so I’ll just go back into my corner…

  74. New Age says:

My desire for Fromm died early this season. He’s not a top 10 pick, maybe not even a 1st rounder. I’ve really liked the new flavor of the month in Burrow. He’s a coach’s kid and has really excelled once given the keys to a real offense. I honestly prefer him over Tua but thankfully we get to see them compete against each other this year. May the best man win

  75. Ken says:

Pass on Fromm. Do whatever we can to get Tua

  76. dbolt48 says:

I’m still on Fromm for the simple matter that I believe the Org will target the mental abilities more so than physical. I think Tua has the best combo & Im still trying to figure out if I buy into Burrow yet.

    • dbolt48 says:

I also can’t disregard his whole body of work

    • Ken says:

I am still trying to figure out if I like Herbert, he has all the physical skills but he looks like he processes the game just a smidge too slow for my liking

      • dbolt48 says:

Yeah…..I like the fact that he’s improved on some of his perceived weaknesses. I think he has special physical talent, but I can’t say how his mental game will come along. I give him credit because he’s improved w/ quicker reads so I don’t want to doubt him……just not 💯 sure.

  77. Tim Knight says:

    Good to see you dbolt.

  78. pheloniusphish says:

Ken, Flores probably went back and watched tape.

  79. pheloniusphish says:

I watched Tua and based on the stats expected Mahomes. But I didn’t see it. I think the LSU game will define both he and Burrow. To me, those two are clearly the top two QB coming out.

    • dbolt48 says:

It’ll be big for both. This past year I’ve noticed Alabama has went to the shorter passing game and really made him work on that portion of his game. Previous year he was vertical dominant vs the horizontal passing game. You probably would’ve saw a bit more Mahomes to his game last year. I actually like what the staff at Alabama has done for him this year.

Burrow I’ll need to keep watching….I get weirded out because he looks like Jake Locker in the face and I kind of find myself memory checking Lockers game instead of Burrows 😂

  80. The Flying Pig says:

I think it’s a bad idea for a coach to announce “____” is a starter for the rest of the season like Flores did

But I have no probably with him shuffling QBs this season
I think within a few years Rosen will be our backup and a rookie will be our franchise QB

I know a lot of people were hoping we can spend draft picks in other areas, but I don’t think Rosen has given us reason to believe we shouldn’t prioritize bringing in a QB in 2020

    • Tim Knight says:

I just want us to draft who we think the best players are, not who the media and fans think they are. Tua has been shoved down our throats since the end of last year and now it’s even more amped up because of our picks and our status. It’s as if we’ll never be good again unless we draft him and that’s pretty fucked up.

    • Ken says:

That is my biggest problem with what he did. He looks like a buffoon that doesn’t know what he is doing

    • Tim Knight says:

I don’t think naming Rosen the starter and then benching him is that big a deal with our current status. Coaches change things up all the time even if they said something different prior. It doesn’t really impact us moving forward.

      • Ken says:

Sorry but I feel differently. Don’t name someone the starter for the season and 2 days later with no apparent reason you announce something else. I expect a coach to be decisive, have a plan and know the talent on the team. This to me was the antithesis of all that. I have given Flores a pass up until now because I know we are a shit show this year. But no pass on this even if it turns out to be the right decision because he went about it like an amateur

  81. Rockphin says:

Man, Just finished watching the season finale of season 3 of The Last Kingdom on Netflix and I must say it is worthy.

  82. mf13ss says:

    Ken/Hulk,

I agree with you on Coach Flores looking foolish what with his starting QB declarations. Perhaps it’s nothing to really concerned about regarding this season, but I’m with you.

  83. mf13ss says:

    Ken/Hulk,

I absolutely love Gene Wilder & Richard Pryor movies: “Another You” is one of my faves.

As such, I was just wondering if you have the “Frankenstein Effect” when you turn mean green. Cue it up to the 8:25 mark on this video to see what I mean… Pryor delivers a CLASSIC line! 😆

    • mf13ss says:

I hope your doing MUCH better, Ken. With Dbolt’s avatar serving as a reminder to me with everything you’ve been through, I hope the video above finds you well, man… er, HULK! 🙂

    • Ken says:

Totally agree with you on Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor movies. Totally awesome. I am doing well and thank you for asking. I have had some rough moments but hopefully they are behind me

Assistant head coach is often a title that is tagged on to prevent poaching of coaches By other teams. It’s not usually used when a college is trying to take a coach but may have been part of a life lot to try and keep him.
