Eli Manning Farewell in NJ stymies Dolphins defense in 36-20 loss. Dolphins now 3-11 on the season.

I’m just thrilled to be able to get stymie in a headline, even if we’re on the wrong side of it. It was almost destiny guys and girls, you could almost feel that Eli was supposed to get a good game in what most likely was his final game in front of his home crowd at Met Life Stadium in New Jersey. A little feel good moment for the QB is who in the process of being ousted by this year’s #6 pick, QB Daniel Jones. The future of the Giants is #8 (Daniel Jones), but for a day, all was copacetic in northern Jersey and the fans got a nice memory of Eli playing well enough to win. Let’s face it, Eli’s record with the Jints the last 3 years is 9-26. If this seems like a Giants article, my apologies. Not gonna deny the fact that this game was not about our team, and I’m not insinuating that it was fixed or preordained or anything, but it sure did follow the story line of Eli going out on top.

On our side, Ryan Fitzpatrick is such a gamer it’s impossible not to admire and respect his efforts each and every week. On a positive note, Ryan Fitzpatrick was NOT the leading rusher this week. We actually very quietly had some success rushing and Laird and Gaskin combined for 88 yards rushing, Laird had 46 yards on 12 carries and Gaskin averaged nearly five yards a pop with 43 yards on 9 carries. DeVante Parker added 2 more TD’s coming off his concussion last week and continues to be a very bright spot and a beacon of hope for the future of this team.

While I want to see Josh Rosen play, at this point I think if I were Brian Flores it would be very difficult to tell Fitzpatrick to grab some pine the way he has played. He has been literally sacrificing his body every game for real, the anti Jay Cutler if you will. Not only that, but Fitzpatrick is playing pretty well, certainly well enough for the team to win. Our defense seemed to be willing to cooperate with the happy send off this week, but I think they will be back this week. A few more of our youngins have gone on IR, DB Ken Webster and Ken Crawley. Each and every week it’s a shuffle in the defensive backfield.

It’s an odd time, you want to see the team play well but you’re also cognizant of the fact that a loss while disappointing may put us in a position to get a player we covet. In the past I would always prefer the loss to get the player I want but I think our team isn’t going to be a team of susperstars, but rather a team of guys who can certain things well and are willing to do what they need to do as well learn various things to help the team. In other words, if we can’t get Chase Young, don’t sweat it. We’re going to get selfless players here, and I think we’ll be a better team for it.

GO DOLPHINS!!

    FYI Rock
Derrick Henry has 5 – 100 yard games this season
And yet has over 1300 yards for an avg of 4.9

It’s eerily similar to Ajayi in 2016

If good running backs had over 100 yards in all 16 games
There would be a lot more 2000 yard running backs in nfl history

Stat heavy games here and there go hand in hand with productive running backs
    Especially power backs
    That break down the defense

  2. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

The legend survives I guess. You DID NOT just try to compare Jay Ajayi and his three good games to Walter Payton? I will not even click the link. PFFFFTT!

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Oh boy Rock….The point went way over your head

Season after season, good, great, hall of fame running backs have seasons like that
And those seasons help the offense

If you rush for one 200 yard game, defensive coordinators will lose sleep over that all year

It’s pretty normal for a rb to have a few heavy games

Rushing for 100 yards or more for 11 games in the season will actually get you into a tie with several other players for 3rd most all time in a season

Its not a very good argument to criticize a RB for only have a few good games a season
It’s not the anomaly you are making it out to be

Todd Gurley had 6 100 yard games last season

  4. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

LOL at the continuing Tannehill debates as if he’s the only QB that benefits from a good running game. He’s playing well for the Titans. Why not just leave it at that. He still has to make the throws regardless of who’s running that ball.

How the Dolphins have already resolved their biggest NFL draft issue

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Really easy to get a lot of hits when you go to bat three times more than the other guys. Bet you our draft grades by the experts are off the charts.

      • Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

You should be able to get YOUR guys with all the draft capital you have. Use 13 to get 5 starters and picks next year. High standards?

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

I figure 5 first and second picks should be 4 or 5 starters. And who knows who might surprise? Also figure around $120 mil in cap room should be 3-5 more. Gonna be a real different roster in 2020.

  6. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

I would love to see Fitz back. Rosen can sit another year and learn. Look at Garapolo, Rodgers, and Brady, just to name a few.

  12. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I went with a 3rd round wild card at QB. Gordon is a gun slinger, needs to work on his footwork but is an interesting prospect.

Anthony Gordon, Washington State: A junior college transfer, Gordon had to wait until his redshirt senior season to get a shot, backing up Gardner Minshew II in 2018. But it’s paid off for the 6-foot-3 passer. Gordon was among the nation’s leaders in most categories, including 5,228 passing yards (first) and 45 touchdowns (second). He had a 600-yard game and nine 400-yard games. He had a nine-touchdown game. Gordon’s plus-arm and great field vision will be on display at the Cheez-It Bowl against Air Force on Dec. 27. Gordon has also accepted an invite to the Senior Bowl.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

      • Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

        I’m not worried.

But eventually? The cities keep growing! The country side keeps shrinking!

I’M ABSOLUTELY STUNNED WITH WHAT FAU HAS BEEN ABLE TO DO TO SMU IN THE FIRST HALF of today’s BOWL GAME on ABC.
    ————————————–
FAU leads the 6 and 1/2 point favorite Mustangs 28-14 at halftime!! Just before kickoff, the ABC broadcast crew announced that FIVE FAU STARTERS would not play today, including unanimous 1st team All-American TE Harrison Bryant, who is a lock high draft choice and did not want to risk his financial future by playing in this game. The other 4 starters were out for either academic issues or recent injuries. A fellow who follows college ball much closer than I DO told me “SMU’s high-powered offense will blow away FAU’s defense. This game won’t be close,” he said.
    ————————————
THIS FELLOW might STILL be proven right. The 10-2 ponies got to a #15 national ranking just a few weeks ago. And a win in this bowl game likely would move them back into the Top 25. –SO they have PLENTY to play for. BUT FAU’s defense has been outstanding so far, even though they are now a bit short of adequate back-ups. FAU’s offense, led by QB Scott Robison and RB BJ Emmons, has looked pretty spectacular so far.

Wyo/Stanger – I’m in Virgininia. Most of the things they are talking about will never make it out of the courts. Registration is already a no go (existing case law). But if they try to confiscate, if they can get a law enforcement agency to try, it will be a civil war. This is being driven by urban centers, mainly the DC suburbs. Most of Virginia is rural. Nobody is surrendering their guns..

    • Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

It’s not simply the 2nd amendment that prevents confiscation
      It’s the 4th amendment

The idea is not simply applicable to guns (if they are illegal) it’s applicable to other illegal property like drugs

Do you ever wonder why if marijuana, cocaine and other drugs have been illegal the gov doesn’t go door to door seizing drugs

It’s bc of the 4th amendment, specifically search and seizure laws
The govt generally doesn’t have the power to search and seize property from some one
More specifically they need probable cause (that’s what search warrants are based on and that’s what permits police to search a car, for example, if they see drugs in plain sight)

Even if we had really strict gun laws, the application is to the sale of guns or they can crackdowns on things like open carry laws

But the 4th amendment prevents some sort of blanket door to door eforcement

I don’t really think that story has a whole lot of teeth
The VA legislature is passing state laws consistent with some of the laws you see in the northeast
And VA is one of those places that has culturally changed significantly in the last couple of decades

Obviously there is still some some conflicts between rural and urban And suburban VA

But three national guard isn’t going to go around knocking on people’s doors…lol

This stories are just out there to rev your engines

People playing the slippery slope argument with gun regulation

There’s nothing credible from the VA governor in either of those stories that indicates they are calling the national guard to go door to door

Gun laws are not likely ever to involve confiscation
The closest they ever get to that is buyback

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

“But if they try to confiscate, if they can get a law enforcement agency to try, it will be a civil war. ” — who is talking confiscate? Didn’t see that proposed. Most of my drafts do have 2-3 IL in the first 3 rounds

Wyo – Was In Montana working and will be going back in a few days. Live in Virginia for now.

Stanger – SB 16, introduced by Dick Slaslaw, calls for banning, mandatory buy back, and confiscation of certain weapons (any weapon with a detachable magazine among other criteria). Anyone not complying would be a felon. No grandfather clause. It’s so crazy you have to read it to believe how crazy it is. As Piggy points out it also violates the 4th. Also bans teaching and training others in firearms use with very broad definitions of those subjects. Sweeping Red Flag laws. Also infringes on the right to gather – no forming of militias. As for civil war and bloodshed, meant it absolutely literally. Not me – I have the wherewithal to just move somewhere else and no emotional ties to Virginia (5th or 6th generation Floridian). But I guarantee that if police or National Guard ever tries going door to door, people will get shot on both sides. And once it happens it will snowball.

    • pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

The National Guard talk was started by one of the Democratic reps, not the Governor. The governor just said there would be consequences for jurisdictions choosing not to enforce the laws. Kept his threats vague.

Some of it is just posturing as well. When the number of counties declaring themselves 2nd Amendment Sanctuaries hit the 80’s, the governor said he was considering a grandfather clause, but with registration. Also not happening.

      • New Age's avatar New Age says:

It’s a terrible look for Dems. Get a majority for even a second, you try to change the law and steal people’s rights.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Mandatory buyback and confiscation is probably more huff and puff than reality. It’s hard to implement that without violating the 4th amendment Unless it’s a paper tiger. When Beto Orourke said “hell yes we will take your AR15s” I knew he didn’t have an understanding of that application

Limited Banning is legal though (depending on the interpretation of the 2nd amendment)

I don’t know this law real well, I just looked it up now
But I don’t see the restrictions on ownership or confiscation
Maybe I’m missing something – please point it out if I am

      Here’s a link
      https://lis.virginia.gov/cgi-bin/legp604.exe?201+sum+SB16

This seems to be routine with some of the big gun rights advocacy groups. They mislead their audiences to believe these apocalyptic results
You can have reasonable gun regulation without getting throwing away the constitution.
But they are in the pocket of gun manufacturers not gun owners…so…everything becomes a the idea that they will come and knock in your door and take your guns, so get ready to shoot them…lol

If we fought a “war on drugs” and didn’t raid the average Americans home, the same follows with any bans on any type of guns

I personally have no interest in taking the guns out of responsible gun owners hands, but I would ban certain sales or transactions of some weapons which can end up in the wrong hands. Of course, opinions vary, and there are plenty of people that want to be like the UK. But I don’t see that ever happening here. It’s not my goal.

Looking at our two 1st round busts sitting today(thankfully we didn’t draft one), DE seems like a huge need but the options look limited this year. With just three guys rated in the first round(and Young going probably too quickly), what are the prevailing thoughts here? Where does Epenesa and Gross Matos rate compared to guys like Kinlaw, Brown and Davis? What about compared to OL like Leatherwood, Wirfs, and Willis?

Draft seems loaded with RBs and WRs so we should be able to easily get three starters in the first and probably another two in the 2nd. The draft is lookign really good for us so far.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I think gross-matos is an edge guy
Those four others would be great in the other side of Wilkins
Kinlaw and Davis might be available with our 2n or 2c

If we aren’t drafting a QB

This game should be the most fun Dolfans have all year

      • New Age's avatar New Age says:

Or Tua at 3. I think we go Tua and I think no one else is willing to risk losing picks to get him early outside of us. If he’s not available because of health, it really doesn’t matter where we pick in the top 10.

  49. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

The thing about Parker is that so much of his production has been those 50/50 balls

Only the 2nd time all year I can remember hating Flores’ end half management.

    Parker is awesome

WITH TODAY’S PERFORMANCE BY DANIEL JONES, I’d say there’s no chance the Giants take a QB in round 1. NOT so sure about Washington. But HASKINS has made big plays when given the chance.

  69. Ken's avatar Ken says:

Great job by Gisecki coming back to the ball

  70. New Age's avatar New Age says:

I’m really happy to see this. One of the things I was hoping to see after we started to improve was a blowout, hopefully this year. Good teams are supposed to blow out shitty ones. We also had a massive performance meltdown last week so seeing us bounce back in dominating fashion really proves we picked the right HC.

We don’t even look like we belong on the same field as these guys and we playing with the weakest roster in the NFL. 2nd most roster moves in the NFL during the season, 2nd most on IR, lots of talent jettisoned in off-season. Amazing job by Flores.

We actually throw him the ball and say “go get it” and he has always been able to do that

Seriously…I hate to pile on Gase…but I think Parker is a good example of a coach hurting a player
    ———-
I think the problem was tannehill, watching him today brings back all the bad memories of the past 7 years.

He can’t get it done without a running game. Shocked, if Titans give him a big contract.

SMH with drafting Tua with our 1st pick. He is going to be injury prone, maybe/probably. If he falls to second round I would grab him just because of his potential though. He could end up being another Russel Wilson.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

He is not falling out of the 1st round. He is not falling out of the top 10. He is likely not falling out of the top 5

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

If we don’t draft him, I bet another team nabs him in the top 10

We will see where he is injury wise

But his injury is the only reason we have a shot at a franchise blue chip QB prospect

  73. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

RT with a 22 yrs play action then a scramble and long TD pass. I guess he just needs a little ripping. 24-21 Saints. We need Tenn to win and Saints to lost for draft placement.

Now that I’m out, all my fantasy guys are going off.

  75. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Cincy about to make this a game. Luckily they chased the points too early, so they still need 3 scores or two 2 point conversions.

  76. New Age's avatar New Age says:

We’ve really shut that run game down today.

  77. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

    Mixon got Munsoned.

  78. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

    WooHoo!!!! Defense playing!

  79. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

The announcer from the Saints game says, they can play with anyone. Ok Captain Obvious, they’re only tied for best overall record in the NFC going into the week…these U75 IQ guys never cease

  80. New Age's avatar New Age says:

Well…at least one Harris on our team can get a sack…..LOL. Good job guys! Keep pouring it on!

  81. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Gaskin with no vision, ran right to the defender when he had a lot of space to his right. A couple times in this game he’s shown poor vision.

  82. Ken's avatar Ken says:

That was good vision by Gaskin on the TD run

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

He looked pretty good that whole drive except for the one play. And that TD sealed this game. And Pitt is still down, so Tenn still has a shot next week.

  83. Ken's avatar Ken says:

Tannehill having another great game. Just his 3rd TD pass

  84. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

    AFC goes through Balt

Steelers going down! Next week they are at Baltimore.

  86. New Age's avatar New Age says:

Jets beat Steelers! Woot! Hopefully Steelers sit at home this playoff season.

  87. Ken's avatar Ken says:

Only time I have been happy for a Jets win

  88. Ken's avatar Ken says:

    Nice vision again by Gaskin

  89. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

It helps to be leading when you want a running game

  90. Ken's avatar Ken says:

    That’s not good

  91. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    That was an ugly tackle

  92. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Ugh, that was a n ugly tackle. And Jackass Cincy guy is celebrating in a 2 score loss on a play he injures our guy

  93. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

2 years ago I was a big fan of gaskin
I thought he was coming out to be a part of a deep RB draft
And then he stayed in school
And he already had a ton of carries when he was a junior
And they just kept giving him the ball at Washington

I think staying in school hurt him. He left college with a lot of wear and tear

  94. Ken's avatar Ken says:

Saints just put their game away

  95. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

If the titans win next week and the Steelers lose, the titans are in the postseason
