When I first heard the news that the Dolphins waived/injured our 5th RD pick Curtis Weaver I was furious. Sometimes I can’t help myself, I think “same old Dolphins”. I thought for $670K we could have put the kid on I/R and next year we’d have ready to go and see what he can do. Take a look at the picture up above, the dude is flexing and my modest biceps are bigger than that dudes, he looks soft. Still, Weaver was productive and many draft experts gave us high marks on that pick, a great value in the 5th RD. The Browns, who claimed Weaver have put him on I/R. To be fair, I thought Flores looked especially and unusually uncomfortable when asked about Curtis Weaver. Flores is pretty quick and direct and during the interview, he labored to answer why Weaver was cut which leads me to think there’s something more than we may ever find out. In any case, Weaver is a Brown now and you know what that means to me. (I’ll spare you the expletives)
Kalen Ballage’s career as a Miami Dolphin is also over. He leaves much like one other promising RB draft pick of the past left, in disappointing fashion. Daniel Thomas never fulfilled his potential and Kalen Ballage who I once thought could be our version of David Johnson “light” yet turned out to be David Johnson 20,000,000 gallons of helium. So with the waiving of Curtis Weaver and then the release of Kalen Ballage, the Dolphins signed DB Deatrick Nichols and claimed RB Salvon Ahmed, a former Washington Husky RB. I can’t blame Kalen Ballage completely because our organization doesn’t have a ton of cred evaluating RB’s. We traded away Ajayi (Gase), we traded away Kenyan Drake (who is flourishing with the Cards) and now gave up on Kalen Ballage. If Ballage does well elsewhere, that will amp up this feeling.
The camp battles so far are encouraging. Big Robert Hunt and Solomon Kindley are making noise, winning some battles and losing others but making a splash nonetheless. I like that last years 3rd RD pick Michael Deiter is getting a lot of reps at center and is most likely being groomed as the replacement for Ted Karras who is here on a 1 YR show me contract. I can actually see light at the end of the tunnel with this O-line. Eventually, I see Jackson – Flowers – Deiter – Kindley – Hunt, or maybe Jesse Davis continues his elevated play at RT and holds off Hunt and Hunt moves inside to RG and then Kindley is a very nice depth player to have. The QB’s have all had ups and downs and rookie phenom Tua Tagovailoa is not immune to that. This is expected, anyone who thought Tua was just going to ride onto the field on a unicorn and throw rainbow TD’s every throw was due for disappointment. He’s just getting started and I’m sure there is a lot the kid is trying to absorb at this point. He’s got talent, let him get up to speed. Honestly, I expect some play from mostly everyone with the limited amount of work players and coaches are able to get in. Hopefully as the season progresses, things will look better. If that happens, that’s a good thing. I think teams that have mostly the same personnel and coaches back have a clear advantage over teams with many new p-layers, new coaches and new systems. The Dolphins check all of those boxes so keep your early expectation low.

Kindley got the starting nod at RG. The Dolphins wanted to have him starting at RG/RT, but the league says you can’t have one player filling two positions at the same time no matter how big he is.

I doubt that would ever happen, but that’s a great idea. Current Court can only handle so many cases (like 4% get certiori). That would let them handle more cases and split into panels like a Court of Appeals and come together in full for en banc cases.
They’ve been talking about it for the last 3 years, but if you think having a large majority of dems in the Supreme Court a good thing, then you could care less about the Constitution. True colors starting to show.
But the constitution doesn’t set the number of justices. So how does that come into it? Just talking about judicial efficiency (you know I was a lawyer). What “true colors” are you talking about?

It’s one thing to win 5 games with a lack of talent, its entirely another to have talent and play consistently every week. We’ll see how the learning curve is going on Sunday.
I wouldn’t be shocked with a 6-10 or a 7-9 season. A lot of things have to go right for us to get over .500. We have a very young team with a lot of new faces. It may take half a season before we come together and start playing well even if things go right.

Thats the internal language of football. If you haven’t played or haven’t been involved behind the scenes, i doubt some of the terminology has ever made it to ya, and i think part of that is that the fucking reporters arent generally told that because they wouldn’t understand it either.
Flo seems to talk like everyone knows this stuff, i have heard him say things before and im like, no way those guys got that. I also have seen him struggle to find a way to translate it to terms they will understand. He will usually take a really long pause and you can see him working it out in his head, “now how to i translate this”. Thats because he is fluent in football, 80% of fans and reporters and whatever arent going to understand it at all, another 10% might be able to get the jest, but still have to think of it in different terms, and that other 10 are the ones that literally is the same as saying “2 TE set”. When a person has a very strong mastery of some “language” they forget how complex it can be for others because for them its so simple.
And I most definitely have not played, even if looking back wish I had — but how was I supposed to know how much I’d grow? Seems part of the job of being HC is being the face of the team though….. and that includes talking in ways the fans can understand when the cameras are rolling or what you say is going to be a quote in the press.

One of our bold predictions from Cameron Wolfe has Parker and Williams both surpassing 1000 yards. I say, if that happens, we’ll be no better than 6-10. Why force the ball, we’ve got plenty of receivers to throw to?
My bold prediction is we’ll have 7 guys with 400+ receiving yards. Parker, Williams, Ford, Grant, Gesicki, Shaheen and Breida. Shaheen and Grant are the big questions, but if they get the opportunity and stay healthy I think they’ll get there.

I always believe they are going 16-0 until they lose their first game. Then I think they are going 15-0. And so on.
I dont do the predictions stuff because im superstitious, but i expect to see the rest of yalls predictions be all over the place because truly we could be all over the place with it. I could easily see us ending in a range of 10-6 or 6-10, though i think Flo by himself puts us closer to 8-8. I just feel he will have us motivated and playing like a team and that will be good enough to beat 50% of teams on any given Sunday.
This would be a hard year to guess for me anyways because i think this team has potential to beat most any team, as well as potentially lose to any team, especially early. We are young, and inexperienced, the odd off-season hurts us in that respect, but there is talent there and there is a good coach to get the most out of them. Probably will have a much different looking team first half vs second half.
That said, barring injury, or some other unforeseen outside force, i think you all could be right at this point, i think its just a matter of how soon in the season that transition starts.
OK, i take it back, now that Phel has done his prediction ill say, all but one of you could be right lol.

Flores says there are a handful of guys they expect to go the whole way, but for the most part they are thinking somewhere along the line guys are going to need a blow. Doesn’t expect most players to jump right in to 60-70 snaps.

Flores says the good numbers with regards to COVID testing is great, but good numbers can lead to complacency. Says we need to stay vigilant with the masks, contact tracing, social distancing, etc.
Some people seem to think, because of no preseason these early games are going to be rough or filled with endless mistakes, but college doesn’t have preseason and they start out just fine.
Just like with the players, the NFL is just a different beast. I dont think they are “needed” , like i have said before i dont believe the you need contact to get your body use to it, its just not scientifically provable that thats the case. You need to limber up your body, stretch ligaments, etc but those can all be done no contact and accomplish the same preparation.
Still its about speed of the game. You dont carry over the preparation for that speed you have to play to get a true look at it and start to develop the muscle memory and the reaction time changes. I can tell you from personal experience, the first few days back after an off-season was kinda sluggish things weren’t happening as fast, and yes thats true for college, etc, but college isnt as restricted on when you can start getting ready, the speed of the game isnt as elite, so im sure the NFL could use the PS game to get acclimated and up to speed, because no matter how hard ya go in practice, its still practice, there is nothing real on the line, so you dont get the intensity and the all out effort you do in a game.
Looks like Flo just wants a clean and disciplined game, and thats exactly what i want. I think the rest of it takes care of itself. I remember the Gase and Philbin eras, that was the big thing missing, playing like a team, playing good football. Gase was worse too, as hard as that is to believe, i didnt think much could get worse after Philbin lost the team and how it devolved, but Gase lost his team worse than Philbin lost his.
Based on last year with few penalties, I expect Flores will get his clean game. Last year we lost game one 59-10, pretty sure Flores has reminded them of that and it won’tbe repeated.

In a normal year, with an average schedule, and not playing both west divisions I’d say 10-6, but there’s just too many weird variables to fight this year.
Denver looks like they’ve lost Von Miller for the year, the Chargers don’t have the great Rivers to bail them out, the Chiefs will be tough, the Raiders are the Raiders, 49ers I believe will decline some, Seattle was a surprise last year and with Clowney gone they’ll take a step back, the Rams aren’t the same as they gave been, Az will be tough with that midget running wild.
With that said I think our schedule is tougher than the teams we’ll be playing, because of the travel.
Yeah its just a wierd year. Usually i can get a rough idea of what i think is the right expectation, but this year, i have no clue, completely just going with whatever to be honest.

I mean, they have been reports of them trying to clone a Mammoth for a while now, which usually means its already been done and this is proof of experimenting with humans. Maybe Kindley escaped and has been masquerading as an offensive lineman, the only known entity big enough for him to hide among.
I love skiing Mammoth, one of my favorite places to ski.
The last company I worked for had Mammoth as a client. One of our employees had a beef with someone from Mammoth, and before the employee left setup some code to execute after he quit. The code, when this employee logging in one morning told them to F off. Mammoth wanted to sue us, but our owners profusely apologized, explaining the situation and they pulled back.
Happens a good bit in my line of work. We call them time bombs, scary how much stuff a net and system admin has access to and can do to cripple you. Gotta be really careful hiring those. I had to help one of our clients unfuck their network after a dude sabotaged it with a “time bomb”. Sometimes they trigger on a network/system event, sometimes set to execute on a specific day or time, doesnt matter its completely blindsiding and pretty hard to handle since the person that did it knows just where to hit ya.

Steve, I was going through a cold weather survival course in Bridgeport, CA back in Jan 99′. It was 2 weeks long. Week 1 was classroom. Week 2 we lived in tents at 9,000 feet. We had a mock battle and had to assess casualties, triage and evacuate on sleds wearing snow shoes. The last night we had to ditch our tents and dig a snow shelter to live in for the last night. It was a blast! I actually got lucky to get in the course. I was stationed with a Marine Corps CH-46 Squadron out of New River, NC. We were there for 2 months flying medivac coverage for the Marines who were doing their cold weather training. They had someone drop at last minute for the course and I got a seat.
Anyway, our weekend off in the middle they were supposed to bus us to Mammouth for a day of skiing but got nixed because Playboy was doing something there and they didn’t want 40 military guys there. Don’t know if it was a photo shoot or just a party but thought it was BS. They ended up bussing us to Kirkwood to ski. It was still nice.
It was a cold weather medicine/survival course.
I’m originally from Miami, couldn’t imagine doing that survival course.
Kirkwood was the mountain all the locals from South Lake Tahoe had season passes at. I have a picture on my shelf of me skiing down one of the mogul runs there. Anyways, I always thought Kirkwood was overrated, couldn’t figure out why I should drive 30 minutes, when i could drive 5, with more runs and faster chairs. I had a pass at Heavenly.
Least you got to ski. In the early 90’s I go to visit a girlfriend who had moved to San Fran and we drive out to Tahoe on a stay and ski package at one of the casinos (think the Hyatt). They’d had 3 feet in two days just a bit before we got there and I was jacked to hit Alpine Meadows.
She goes to bed early and I stay up at the tables. Next morning woke up to one of the worst sounds of my life — her yuking her guts out in the bathroom. Man did I try to think of every possible way for me to still ski….. but it just wasn’t there. We headed back with the lift tickets unused.

Why is it every my prediction is one or two wins more than Vegas? Vegas has us at 6.
Because you’re a homer…Vegas is based on betting and not reality. We’ve gone over 3 of the last 4 years.
Vegas usually is much closer to correct than us just FWIW.
My feeling is its a game of inches for us this year, some tough losses, some gutsy wins, could go a lot of different ways in several games, even some of the really big ones like KC, i dont even see that one as cut and dry loss. This is another year i want to see us really solidify as a team, it could end up a bunch of ways and its probably gonna be somewhere in between us and Vegas.
Yep — we should be able to win every game we are in, but that doesn’t mean we will. We one 5 last year and Vegas has us at 6…. that I just don’t see given how much more talent is on the roster. Especially having a least better than pathetic OL.

Kind of what i thought, half a quote. While I don’t know that downplaying it to avoid a panic is the way I would go, I would certainly have looked for a way to avoid a panic.
I did cut off the “panic” part to keep it short, but the “I wanted to always play it down” was from time before. Seems that one stands alone. You want to leave it at that one…. then not sure if there is a big difference.
And btw — was pretty clear at that point the “panic” he was worried about was in the stock market.

I just found it funny cause she claimed Trump didn’t downplay the virus and he admitted he did to Woodward….. couldn’t have been more clear from what he told Woodward (whatever the reason). And yeah reporters will feast on stuff like that….what they do. And him downplaying was not an issue in play for me. Trump kept saying Covid would just go “poof.”

Stanger – This is just my opinion, but I think Trump defenders aren’t necessarily big Trump supporters or loyal. My thought, at least from my own perspective is a lot of us are defending against Democratic attacks, which are incessant and constant. No President has had to deal with such duress from the opposing party and its minions. Every day the assaults come and those of us that prefer Trump over the drek the Democrats offer up stand up and fight for that. It’s almost like I couldn’t give a crap if Trump disappeared from the face of this earth as long as the Democrats don’t get what they want. I have never been as opposed to the Democratic party and what they represent in my lifetime. I don’t believe I’m alone in this either.

So if the stat is true, then he didn’t down play it like McEnany said, even though he said he did down play it.
But even so, why make such a big deal about what she said? Do you hold her 100% accurate to what she says, even though she may have believed it was true, true or not? Yet 90% of what the dems say is a lie, and that’s OK? Everything out of Biden’s mouth these days is a lie.
He just told PA that he was going to let them keep fracking, yet a month or so ago he said he was opposed to it.

My personal take was McEnany took the wrong approach on that.. The tape had just come out some hours before and she was saying what her boss said he did he did not. If was me would have spun into here is what he meant by that in this or that aspect of course he was always diligent in combating the virus look at this or that (like closing China travel).

Regardless of where you stand politically, I would not be surprised if Trump over Biden is reminiscent of Reagan over Mondale. The majority of the people in this country are not anti-American nor do they support anarchy and mayhem. Just food for thought.
I stopped talking politics, but to be honest most of the time I did engage, a large reason was so at the very least there were other opinions being heard. Unfortunately, it got tiresome and divisive for no good purpose. Rob and I even had to melt down our BFF necklaces.
I will say that right now, and for the last few weeks, if it wasn’t for Piggy and Stanger (and the occasional Krishna) this place would feel like an unrestrained echo chamber. If they get shouted down, I guess we’ll be enjoying ready held opinions confirmed, fun right wing bashing democrat memes, and truncated right wing videos to our hearts content.
