2020 Season – Week 2 – Bills @ Dolphins

No pictures necessary. I couldn’t find half our defense on Sunday. It was the first game after a very limited preseason with no games and not nearly enough practice time. I need to temper my disappointment. Once again, the team that so many have written off after the numerous COVID-19 opt outs and the defections from the team in free agency, it all comes down to the Patriots can win with Belichick and just about anybody. I didn’t fear Cam Newton the QB, I feared Cam Newton the RB. Andy Dalton scares me more passing the football than Cam Newton, but Cam didn’t beat us passing, the run pass option beat us. Time of possession: Patriots 35 minutes – Dolphins 25 minutes. That partly explains the low offensive output although the officials near the end of the game made sure it stayed that way by not calling either defensive holding or what I thought was defensive pass interference in the end zone against TE Mike Gesicki by Patriots DB Joejuan Williams with 1:35 left. We probably weren’t going to win the game but you hate to have a turnover and lose possession on a play that was clearly a defensive foul. Anyway, the fact is we got beat. We got handled by a simple game plan that we had no answer for. We knew they were doing it, and we couldn’t stop it. All the defensive players we brought in may as well have been still playing for NE (Van Noy, Roberts), CLE (Ogbah), BUF (Lawson), PHI (Grugier-Hill) because they were invisible on Sunday. We need more from these guys.

Again, the good news is it’s only one game and we face a relatively similar threat this week in the Bills with Josh Allen. Allen has shredded us in the past running all over us so we do face a familiar issue, knowing what they can do and then stopping it. This offseason, Buffalo picked up WR Stefon Diggs and paired him with speedy former Ravens WR John Brown. Devin Singletary is OK, not a guy that really scares you and Zack Moss will be their goal line threat. Allen running scares me more than either Bills RB. If it seems like I’m ignoring our offensive ineptitude, I’m going to get to that. While our O-line starting 5 looked pretty good and played 100% of the offensive snaps, all 62, which is impressive. Jordan Howard played a very minor role and it was Myles Gaskin who ended up leading the Dolphins in rushing with 40 yards on 9 carries. Matt Breida was next with 22 years on 5 carries and Jordan Howard managed only 7 yards on 8 carries. Fitzpatrick was not great either, but why Preston Williams kept slipping on the artificial turf is confounding. It’s not like he needed to change to longer spikes, and the field was dry. Once again, the nagging injury bug has bitten WR Devante Parker. It is so frustrating because we all hoped he’d follow last season with an equal or likely better one, but if this hamstring hampers him, don’t count on it.

I’m not saying Tua has to play soon, but if the Dolphins offense doesn’t start putting points on the board, it’s inevitable that Tua, as long as he’s healthy should play. He’s the superstar in the making, and no reason to protect him for no reason. The O-line looks competent, so therefore if Fitz and the Dolphins offense don’t start showing some life, the Tua chapter of Dolphins football must begin. I’d like to consider game 1 as our first action since we had no preseason. A pass for a shoddy performance, but 1 game is all they get. If we open up at home getting run over by Josh Allen and the Bills it’s not going to look good for our season.

Christian Wilkins, last year’s 1st RD pick made his presence felt. We need 4-5 more guys on defense to do that each week. We need guys on offense to step up. Not sure if Parker is going to play or not and even if he does start, how long will he play and can he even be effective. I’d like to see Jordan Howard running hard. I’d like to see Breida catch a few balls out of the backfield and get upfield. I want to see Mike Gesicki continue his growth from last season and be like a George Kittle, Travis Kelce type of player. The O-line looks ready for prime time but the Bills may be a tougher challenge than the Patriots. We need to dominate the LOS and get some push for our backs and hopefully a successful run game will open up the passing game. I expect a conservative game plan, we don’t want to keep turning the ball over. If we win this game, I’m expecting a low scoring game, maybe a 17-16 game or 20-16. I’ll take either one!

GO DOLPHINS!!!

our safety play sucks … no help at all

  32. Tim Knight says:

We got whacked early, battled back and could have scored more points but we didn’t. I still think this team could get better as the season goes on. We’re not ready to play top level football right now.

  34. The Flying Pig says:

    Still alive

  35. Tim Knight says:

This team has a lot of fight in them though.

    • The Flying Pig says:

They really need to stop putzing around on defense

      • Tim Knight says:

They don’t have it altogether yet. This was a game that looked like we could have gotten blown out but we lost by 3. It was a weird game with power outages and a lightning delay and we even took the lead in the 2nd half. Keep building.

  36. naplesfan2010 says:

    Ford and gesicki look great

  37. wyoming85 says:

    Well that was better!

    Just keep growing and Jelling!

AT THIS TIME LAST SEASON EVERYBODY was laughing at the Dolphins franchise.
    NOBODY’s laughing NOW! — That’s Progress!

  39. manitobafinfan says:

Wick turnaround to Thursday in Jax

  40. naplesfan2010 says:

we win if the rook catches that td pass.

    • manitobafinfan says:

Williams, not a rookie, and dropped easy ones while making tough cat he’s all last year. Hope he fixes that quick

      • naplesfan2010 says:

how many games did he play last year 6? Or 8? And no preseason this year. That is a rookie to me, as evidenced by losing the seriousness of the moment on that winning TD.

  41. Mike E. says:

This was a great game to watch. We’re closer to being good than bad. A better coverage my Bobby Mac and a TD catch by Preston Williams and we win this game. When a game comes down to a play here or play there, you’ve done well. It’s clear the O-line is not a huge negative any longer, we’ve given rushing room for our guys. Our receivers are balling and our TE killed it today. He looks terrific. The defense is still softer than I’d like, but it’s a work in progress.

    • manitobafinfan says:

Does suck being 0-2 in division though , but yes. Looking up

      • Mike E. says:

For this season the record isn’t super important to me. I want to see that this team can compete. Sure, I’d love to be 1-1 or 2-0, but seeing team improvement is important to me. That defense needs to start showing up better, and now with Byron Jones injured, not sure how long that might take

    • steveccnv says:

You can’t just say a play like the Preston drop would’ve won the game for us (along with Bobby blunders), if he had made it, then Buffalo would’ve had the ball on the 25, instead of the 1. That play meant nothing, in my opinion, because we scored on the next possession.

  42. The Flying Pig says:

    You guys are so positive

You make my squiggly go straight

  43. ocalarob says:

we’re three years away from being 3 years away.

The youngest player in the NFL, iggy, got beat repeatedly by the wily veteran.

  45. stangerx says:

We’ve played two possible playoff teams and least one of them will be. We did not embarrass ourselves. But then don’t be looking for the Phins at the top of the next power rating either. We are one of those teams that can win on any given Sunday.

    • steveccnv says:

I’d say we’re one of those teams that can lose on any Sunday, before winning on every Sunday.

      • stangerx says:

Flip of can win is can lose. Hope 2 years from now we are in the conversation though. Like how the OL is looking. That’s building block #1.

  46. Mike E. says:

Steve – I just fucking said it! You’re wrong!

  47. steveccnv says:

We have absolutely no consistency on D, and on O we can’t score when we have to. The ton of yards we gave up last year continues.

In the past too many years we’ve been leaky on D, but this year I feel like it can change at any time. When is the question,

  48. Tim Knight says:

Van Noy and Howard could have had picks that changed the game but they didn’t. We made this game close within a few plays. We competed and made it a good game. Just keep building.

Look at ATL they blew a nice lead and lost to DAL at the end. This league is crazy especially in a crazy 2020 year.

  49. naplesfan2010 says:

    Mahomes is overconfident

    • steveccnv says:

      Ok OD

      • olddolphan says:

STEVE, I DIDN’T look this up but if my memory is working we lost 59-10 to the Ravens and 43-0 to the Patriots. That’s a combined 102-10!! And by late in the 3rd quarter, the stands were about as empty last season as they were today toward the end of Miami’s second game.

It’s somewhat ironic that what some thought was Miami’s strength (the defensive secondary) was hardly that today. But 4 early draft picks in 2021 will mostly focus on the defensive side of the ball. Help is on the way!!
        —————-
I noticed Rob’s statement up the page that we are 3 years away from being 3 years away. Rob, were you a math major in college??

I understand, believe me. 6 Great Grandkids will do that to you.

  50. naplesfan2010 says:

I see real progress on the ol. 2 rookie starters in there

  51. stangerx says:

    Bills fans sorta happy.
    Dolfans not happy.
Whoever bet on the Phins…… really happy.

    • manitobafinfan says:

Wife and I both had them to tie +\-3, I had colts/jax , she has Saints/ Raiders and we both have pats/hawks all to tie …

5.00= 250.00 ish each if they come through.

    • olddolphan says:

THAT’s RIGHT, Young Stanger. THIS WEEK, the referee and his pals did NOT steal a “Spread” wagering victory away from those who took the spread and bet on Miami.

      • stangerx says:

How did you like the game OD? Wasn’t a fan of the first half regardless of score, but thought the 2nd half cool….. particularly the 3rd Q.

  52. manitobafinfan says:

Yeah line was higher.. this is our confusing to you guys Sport Select ..bills win was like 1.60 per $ 1.00 bet , fins were almost 4.00 /$ bet. Tie was 3.80/$. Colts was about the same for tie , I still need pats and hawks to be within 3 pts to win .. she still needs 2 of her 3 …

    • stangerx says:

Don’t know what some of that means….. but sounds like you guys have some exoctic betting options. I’ve put down some money against the the spread and know what a 4-team teaser is, but that’s about it.

      • manitobafinfan says:

It’s ran by our lotteries Corp..They also do offer over under and a point spread game as well. Have to bet at least three games.

  53. New Age says:

I will preface my opinion with the fact I didn’t watch this game today. COVID and other more controllable factors got me used to doing other things on Sunday and I completely forgot until the 4th quarter and was nowhere near a TV.

It looks like our offense and Fitz did a LOT better today and our defense completely shit the bed. I don’t know if the Allen running threat held our guys back or what but it seems like we didn;’t stop their offense worth a damn. Someone can correct and inform me if they like.

I don’t see us beating Buffalo this year but we are far better at this junction than last year. Tough schedule though and I’m thinking we’ll be lucky to be 7-9 in the end? Our first 5 games are brutal and the Jags look legit. We could be 0-5 again this year looking for win #1.

    • Mike E. says:

Well Byron Jones got hurt early and that forced Iggy Mahogany into his spot and Needham then became the slot corner. Needham was not having a good day with a couple of holding calls and/or PI. Mahogany got schooled a bit too. We weren’t getting a lot of pressure on Allen in the 1st half, but even when we did, he handled it. We didn’t make it very difficult for Allen. Singletary also ran all over us, that was disappointing. On offense, Gaskin looked good and Brida when he got touches also looked good and Howard scored on a goal line plunge. Gesicki looked great, he mad one sick one handed grab on a ball thrown behind him that he just snared from the defender. He looks like the TE we’ve always hoped for. The defensive line and LB need a lot of improvement and we need Byron Jones healthy.

    • stangerx says:

The team is better for sure. Still not there yet, but on its way. And Vegas has us at 6 games, so your 7-9 is a good guess.

  54. stangerx says:

    Mike Gesicki
    8 catches
    130 yards
    16.3 yards per catch
    1 TD

    • Tim Knight says:

He was 5th in catches and yards for TEs last year. Now we’re seeing how talented he really is. He has elite receiving skills.

  55. Tim Knight says:

Here’s the thing. If we stay competitive and get to 2-2 or 2-3, Fitz is the QB. We go 1-3 or 0-4 it’s probably Tua time.

  56. Ken says:

I think Jets are the leaders for the Tyler Lawrence bowl

  57. pheloniusphish says:

I play fantasy football like Miami plays defense.

  58. CavalierKong says:

It’s still early, but so far pass rush is the number one issue on this defense IMO. Allen had time to throw deep all day long, and the only pressure he saw was on blitzes.

Our defense got torched. I think losing Jones in the first quarter had a snowball effect on the whole secondary. Diggs abused Nogonnatryandspellhisname, and that likely doesn’t happen with Jones in the game, but Buffalo was down 2 of their top LBs and 4 LBS overall, so no excuses.

I don’t know if it’s scheme or players, but do we even have safeties? I saw Rowe make one single play, but I literally can’t recall McCain having a single impactful play.

I think there were a lot of positives to take away from this game. The Bills are a really good team. We had only 3 penalties for 20 yds. We ran the ball effectively and had a slight edge in ball control (part of that is when the Bills scored they moved the ball with long pass plays). We won the TO battle. Gesicki had a great game… and wow what a catch.

Still a loss, but I enjoyed this game more than the game against NE (even losing most of the 2nd qtr, and the delay).

We need to come out and get a win against the Jags on Thurs.

  59. ocalarob says:

    I’ve got some good news,

    Ravens are beating the Texans!

  60. New Age says:

    Mike,

Thanks for the run down. How did Howard play? I’m a bit surprised that we need Jones so badly this early and I agree with Kong that our pass rush has been subpar at best. Neither of the two big acquisitions have panned out early. Your boy Gesicki looks like a legit top 5 TE. That’s such a huge win for our future.

    • manitobafinfan says:

Jordan looked like a 3-1 or 4-1 back .. don’t ask or expect 1.5 yds though. Haskins is looking good and saw a couple nice runs from Breida ..

    • CavalierKong says:

Howard only had one good play, his TD run was a tough 2 yards when we really needed to punch it in. It’s really odd how we’re using our RBs. Whenever Howard came into the game, it was obvious he was getting the ball. That happened a handful of times. Other than the TD, and a couple of 1 or 2 yd gains, he basically didn’t play.

  61. CavalierKong says:

Herbert is looking pretty darn good for the Chargers.

  62. wyoming85 says:

    Watkins knocked the F out!

  63. CavalierKong says:

We had 2 pretty tough games to open the season, but man Houston starting off against KC and Baltimore. That is a wicked opening set.

  64. Tim Knight says:

Right now the defense is vulnerable to crossing routes because we play so much press/man. But that’s obvious;y what the coaches want the secondary to do, and losing Byron Jones early didn’t help. Howard was barely mentioned because they didn’t even challenge him. Hang in there fans. 😉

    • CavalierKong says:

Your post made me realize New Age meant X. I forgot Xavien existed. He almost got a pick today, but other than that, yep they didn’t throw at him much at all.

  65. CavalierKong says:

Our kicking game looks good so far. Sanders is perfect on the season, and Haack was excellent with a roughly 49 yd net today.

  66. steveccnv says:

    Houston is 0-2

  67. steveccnv says:

Looks like the Chargers are getting the same home cooking, as the Rams did last week, first games in new stadium.

  68. CavalierKong says:

Chargers have had 4 or 5 offsides. It’s killing ’em.

  69. steveccnv says:

In OT Chargers run the ball on 2nd-9, then throw short of the marker on 3rd down. This is the shit I was talking about before the games started today, when the U75s brought up the stat of 3-6 yards to go is successful 52% of the time while 7+ its 26%.

  70. CavalierKong says:

That KC kicker is amazing. He hit a 58 yarder earlier in the game. Then in OT, he hits a game winning 53 yarder…nope false start, so he hits a game winning 58 yarder…nope time out. Calmly drills another 58 yarder to give the Chiefs the win. Fun game.

  71. steveccnv says:

James White’s parents were just in a car crush, his dad died and mother is in critical condition. His dad worked for the Miami Dade PD.

  72. olddolphan says:

ONE THING MIAMI HAS LACKED for at least a decade is a power back who van convert those short yardage situations consistently. NOT since the famous Lousaka Polite has Miami had THAT kind of running back. Now I’m NOT demanding Larry Csonka nor Refrigerator Perry, but, SOMEWHERE out there, there’s GOT TO BE a guy who fills this need to a TEE. I remember a guy who played in the late 1980’s and the 1990’s for the Chiefs who almost ALWAYS got those key first downs to keep a drive alive. Some knew him as the “Nigerian Nightmare.” His real name was Christian Okoye, who played at Division III Asuza Pacific. Some Kansas City scout heard about him and checked him out carefully. At 6’1″, 255 pounds, Okaye was just what the Doctor called for on 3rd and 2 or 3rd and 1. For the better part of a decade, Okoye abused undersized linebackers and safeties who dared to take him on. Then, sometime in the ’90’s, Denver satety Steve Atwater delivered a hit to Okoye that, basically, ended Okoye’s career (and nearly ended Atwater’s career, too!). Atwater knocked Okoye out cold with a hit that, now, might get a 15 yard penalty AND tossed from the game.

Don’t know where Okoye is now. But we sure could use someone like HIM!!

  73. manitobafinfan says:

Well that made things interesting… any chance NE drives it down and kicks a FG ??

  74. steveccnv says:

Lol, cheats lost on the last play, because they were too predictable.

  75. steveccnv says:

It seems the NFL has gone the way of the mobile QB, the dying breed pocket passers Brady, Rivers, Ryan, Stafford and brees are almost done playing and there really aren’t any good ones behind them.

Jackson, Mahomes, Watson, Wilson, Wentz, Allen, Herbert, Murray, Newton, and Prescott can all extend plays, those that can’t need the 2000 Ravens team around them.

It’s no surprise now that the great QB class of 2018 has failed mostly, because the pocket passers can’t extend plays enough (Mayfield, Darnold and Rosen). Its also no surprise that the team that has Brady picked up Rosen. The 2 from this class that have succeeded Jackson and Allen can extend plays.

Daniel Jones, Haskins, and other pocket passers like them are also destined to fail.

Tua I believe will be a play extender, so he should fit right in.

Burrow and Minshew I don’t ever expect to carry their teams to any lofty success.

Big Ben is kind of unique, but he extends plays, as does Rodgers.

Goff, Bridgwater, Tannehill and Garo polo I think are kind of meh, need great team around them.

Some others like Lock I haven’t seen enough to comment.

The game last night was great throughout, because the QBs had the never say die mentality that a play extender has. It’s why KC won the SB and SF didn’t.

    • steveccnv says:

I didn’t comment on Fitz, because he’s almost done, but he, no pun intended, fits into the play extenders category, but makes too many mistakes, so isn’t an elite play extender.

  76. steveccnv says:

Great game yesterday by Gesicki, I think his break out season has gotten off to a fantastic start.

  77. The Flying Pig says:

Kylar Murray looks amazing so far

    • steveccnv says:

Haven’t seen him yet, but that’s what all the reports keep saying, and why you can take a mediocre team and have them on the verge of being what the 49ers were last year.

  78. steveccnv says:

Normally after a loss, while watching other games (mostly don’t even watch other games after a loss), I hate seeing our lost score on the ticker, but yesterdays didn’t bother me I think, because of the late TD and not giving up.

On one hand our run D stunk game 1 and our pass D stunk game 2, but something feels different about this 0-2.

I think we’re getting close to putting it together. Not expecting playoffs now, because I’m expecting a 1-4 or 0-5 start, but the rebuild is starting to mesh talent with progress.

A beat writer said you may not see the progress in our record this year, but you should see it in our play.

I think it will be time to unleash Tua, after the 5th game. Can’t throw him in on a short week, and no sense in feeding him to the wolves weeks 4 and 5.

Unless you just want to be competitive, There’s not much else Fitz can provide. He’s done a yeoman’s job for us, but its almost Tua time.

  79. steveccnv says:

The new crop of play extenders makes the game as interesting as it’s ever been, and might be why those new start up leagues are so bad (lack of playmaking QBs).

Noah Igbinoghene is a mentally tough kid. Playing against a receiver of that caliber the entire day, getting put in that position, he had some instances where he covered him well and a lot of instances where Diggs was able to get open. It was a good experience for him.

Wyo – I thought a call or two against Needham were kind of ticky-tack. He barely touched the receivers shoulder pad but they called defensive holding. The other one may have been legit, I don’t remember it.

  83. steveccnv says:

I thought I was watching FIFA yesterday instead of some NFL games. The deep pass play last week that should’ve beaten the Rams was also a flop, that was called O-PI.

Cam last night whittled to the ground on a legit QB hit, that wasn’t called, but he looked silly doing it, then looked up to the ref.

Even tough guy lineman are flopping. This isn’t football.

I think the refs are doing a pretty good job. I don’t want to see holding calls every play and they’re showing restraint there. I think they called illegal contact or defensive holding on the bills DB’s too so it all evens out. Our defense just isn’t making stops, we keep giving and giving.

    • steveccnv says:

I still see the good teams favored, especially when at home. Pretty hard to debate the 2 non PI calls the cheats got against us week 1 on the 2 ints.

I only watched highlights from yesterday’s game.

  85. stangerx says:

“An MRI has confirmed that running back Saquon Barkley suffered a torn ACL in Sunday’s game, the New York Giants announced Monday.”

Fields Forever fans across the nation are real grumpy today. Were happy to get him at #3.

    • Mike E. says:

I took him at #2 in one of my money leagues. Right now I have Barkley OUT, Godwin OUT, A.J. Brown OUT and Kittle OUT. I have Michael Thomas in my other league OUT as well. It’s not easy working around this shit.

      • stangerx says:

Sorta makes you feel like an NFL GM. You can set up the best team in the league…… but the injuries you can’t control. Can build depth, but doesn’t help with a superstar.

  86. stangerx says:

Fitzpatrick was 31 of 47 for 328 yards with 2 TDs and no INTs for a 100.3 QB rating,
    But then……

Allen was 24 of 35 for 417 yards with 4 TDs and no INTs for a 147.0 QB rating

Figure the loss is on the D, especially the secondary — which we thought our strength.

    • steveccnv says:

The secondary was hurt by the loss of Jones and no passrush. Not making excuses for them, just stating the obvious.

      • stangerx says:

Jones is a key piece if he is the difference btwn a good D performance and 400+ yards with 4 TDs and a 147 QB rating we are in trouble , whatever part of the D that falls on. Going in was worried we wouldn’t be able to stop the rush.

      • steveccnv says:

Its game 2, give these guys a chance to get acclimated.

  87. Randy says:

My local sports radio said that after week one offensive holding calls were down 78% from last year. I don’t know what they were yesterday but that % is nuts. The NFL obviously made a choice not to call holding. It just shows again that they really don’t just ask their refs to call it like they see it. They actually influence games by how they choose to call them.

    • stangerx says:

If holding is cool, seems that helps us. We set up the beef rather than quick OL.

      • steveccnv says:

It helps the teams that know how to abuse it. They don’t just say we’re only going to call 1 out of 4. They change the criteria for what a hold is, and in some cases who us doing it🤔

I’ve said for years the cheats teach how to hold and not get called for it better than other teams.

I’ll never forget the onside kick attempt by the Peyton Colts against the cheats. The ball was pooched between the guys lined up 10 yards off of the ball and the deep returner. A cheat touched it, but didn’t have control, and didn’t actually come out of the pile with it. The SJ came running over from 40 yards away and said cheats ball and they got it. Tgey reviewed and still gave it to them.

  88. CavalierKong says:

LOL, yesterday the Jest gave up a first down on a 3rd and 31. The Niners converted with a 55 yard running play. I love seeing Gase be a complete failure. That guy is such an a-hole.

    • steveccnv says:

He’s an OC masquerading as a head coach.

No people skills and no D skills.

    • stangerx says:

When Gase came to us actually thought he was a good guy in a football nerd kinda way. That didn’t last long. Over when he started blaming his players in pressers. Coaches blame players all the time, but only behind closed doors.

  89. steveccnv says:

On offense, the team showed some life, but the 28-point outing against the Bills is being over-shadowed by the inability to score from the one-yard line on four-straight plays.

    SbNation

Sometimes shit happens, like a dropped pass, missed blocking assignment…

In our game yesterday that series from the one had zero affect on the game, as I pointed out last night. People that mentioned it either weren’t following the game or don’t understand football.

    • stangerx says:

How do you figure not scoring and taking the lead there didn’t matter?

      • Mike E. says:

He’s saying because our defense held and then we scored on the next drive. Not sure I completely agree with that though. We may have had time for another possession, who knows?

      • steveccnv says:

If Buffalo had the ball on the 25, after our kickoff, instead of the 1, they likely would’ve had a more aggressive series, just as we saw right after we did score to take the lead a few minutes later.

      • Krishna says:

Huh…..and our D might have had another turnover. Woulda, coulda, shoulda. Catch the fucking ball right in your hands for a TD. IMO, it makes a difference.

  90. Mike E. says:

Stanger – You’re right! Thankfully there’s no salary cap. 🙂

  91. Mike E. says:

Steve – That’s a big reach there pal. Everything matters. Like I said, we may have had another possession if we scored the first time. It could have changed the whole dynamic of the game.

    • steveccnv says:

It basically had no affect on the game other than it took 7 minutes off of the clock. It didn’t change momentum, it didn’t cause us to lose.

The drive Buffalo had after we took the lead or the Buffalo’s last TD drive had a huge impact.

In the grand scheme of things the dropped pass didn’t really hurt.

  92. Krishna says:

A dropped pass for a sure TD in the 4th quarter has an affect on the players, momentum, time D is on field, etc., in my opinion.

It better have an affect on Preston Williams, too. Needs to hit the jugs machine and practice catching balls right in has hands.

  93. Krishna says:

    ^effect

  94. Tim Knight says:

The worst possession of the game for me was when he had the Bills on the 2 after a punt and we allowed them to drive 98 yards for a TD.

    • Krishna says:

I know…..and I thought someone on this blog someone mentioned our D, did ok…..

It’s hard for me to believe losing one CB, crapped out our entire defense. That’s not good, imo.

      • Tim Knight says:

I was mentioning during the game that we’re really trying to get the man/press coverages going because that’s how we want to play. It’s not easy but why not work on it right out of the gate. Flores spoke after the game saying “Combination of pressure, mixing coverages, potentially keeping someone on the weak side. We have answers to all those things. But as a press team, cover one team, we have to cover better. Can’t let people off the hook from that standpoint.” Flores said about the crossing routes

  95. steveccnv says:

Seattle late in the game gets the ball after NEs last TD, I believe on their 25. In 1st down the RB goes around the right end gains about 5 yards and goes to the ground to avoid going out of bounds. If he had kept running he gains at least 3 more yards, and maybe a first down. Seattle didn’t get a 1st down on the drive and it almost cost them the game.

Dumbest play ive seen in a while.

    • CavalierKong says:

Then they follow that up 2 plays later with a deep pass on 3rd and 1. Worst playcall ever. Just running the ball would have cost NE another TO, and a first ended the game.

      • steveccnv says:

That was the same pass Buffalo threw, when trying to run out the clock, but not sure what the distance to go was, but yeah that pass pissed me off too.

I don’t know much about cancer
    But is that weird?

BIG NEWS FROM GAME 2 OF THE STANLEY CUP FINALS!!
After about a minute of play, Dallas had the first two shots on goal. But, then, LIGHTNING STRUCK!!! –When the smoke cleared Tampa Bay had amassed the next 13 shots on goal. AND 3 OF THEM WENT IN!! Even the Bolts’ previously powerless power play (0 for the last 14) caught on fire as TB scored on consecutive man advantage situations. This game IS FAR FROM OVER. BUT the Lightning got what they wanted most tonight, A FAST START!!

IN this battle of Russian goalies, Vasilevskiy has clearly outplayed Kudobhin. Brayden Point and Ondreg Palat each had impressive goals on TB’s top line. And speaking of “Top Line,” NBCSN is reporting that Peter Stamkos, captain of the Bolts, is very near to returning to action. An impressive win tonight followed by the return of the captain on Wednesday sounds like ultra good news for local Lightning fans!

    GOO-O-O BOLTS!!
