Week 3 – Dolphins @ Jaguars

So here comes Week 3 already, and it’s a short week for us Dolphins fans. Here we are at 0-2. Game 1 we didn’t really compete. Game 2 we were in it till the last minute, but in both games there was one clear message. This defense just isn’t in sync yet. Flores says it’s communication issues which in many ways is understandable. We all knew so many new faces getting thrown together is a tough situation, especially when you compound that with less practice time, and no preseason games. It’s easy to get frustrated watching them, considering all the money we spent in free agency on the defensive side of the ball, Kyle Van Noy, Shaq Lawson, Emannuel Ogbah etc. We didn’t stop in free agency either, with our third pick in the first round of the 2020 draft we selected Auburn DB Noah Igbinoghene. We continued with defense in RD 2 with DL Raekwon Davis from Alabama, and in RD 3 we selected S Brandon Jones from Texas. We continued to fortify the DL with Jason Strowbridge and Curtis Weaver in RD 5, but as we have well documented here, Weaver is gone. In any case, it’s clear we needed to work on the defense, but the early returns are not promising.

It’s funny, these 2 teams at this moment in time are 2 teams that are quite different as far as outlooks are concerned. Everyone was sure the Jaguars were looking to draft Trevor Lawrence in 2021 and threw in the towel. Now, in some ways they’re the talk of the town as a high-flying exciting team. They’re 1-1 and are +4 in points scored/points allowed. The Dolphins are 0-2 and are -13. Gone are Yannick Ngakoue and Leonard Fournette and yet this team has the arrow pointing up. Our Dolphins? This game will say a lot in that regard. After a tough loss to the Bills in which this team competed well, the arrow is slightly up, but a loss to the Jags and an 0-3 record will change that. Hard to say game 3 is a pivotal game because it’s still early, but a loss tonight, especially a bad loss could be bad for this team.

Byron Jones is apparently playing, but of course, how long and how effective he is we have no idea. I’d bet Iggy Mahogany is getting lots of reps outside to be ready. Not sure how correct Ourlads depth chart is but it shows 3rd RD draft pick Brandon Jones at SS with Bobby Mac at FS. I guess Jones is going to get his shot. I thought our depth and our strength was our secondary. Byron Jones, Xavien Howard and Noah Igbinoghne. Bobby Mac at safety again with Eric Rowe, and then all those guys as depth like Brandon Jones, Clayton Fejedelem and Kavon Frazier. So far, we haven’t been able to find the right mix, and our lack of offense has made it tougher on the defense.

As far as the offense is concerned, it’s been odd so far. We picked up Jordan Howard and in the draft when we were all getting quite upset at the fact that we ignored the RB position, the trade for Matt Breida soothed us. Well, after 2 games, Howard and Breida have 25 carries combined and Breida has 2 receptions. It’s been last year’s 7th RD pick that has received more playing time and nearly double the touches of either Howard or Breida. He’s done well in that role, and that’s the important thing. I’d rather a coach play the guy that gets it done over the guy who cost more or was drafted higher, but it’s surprising nonetheless.

What’s been great so far is watching the rise of TE Mike Gesicki. He really came on towards the middle of last season and this season has continued that rise. After 2 games this season Gesicki has 11 receptions for 160 yards and 1 TD. WR Isaiah Ford is getting it done as well, and unfortunately, the nagging injuries have once again found Devante Parker. He’s in the lineup so give him that, but he’s hampered for sure. Preston Williams has the shine dull a bit as he hasn’t been a big part of the offense at all, but he is coming back from and ACL tear. Jakeem Grant hasn’t really been involved and Lynn Bowden has yet to be active, something that will continue for a while until he’s learned enough to hit the field.

Have you noticed that I’m 6 paragraphs in and I HAVEN’T MENTIONED THE O-LINE? It’s amazing, but this is one unit that is moving in the right direction. It’s a pleasure not to feel the need to ridicule this unit, and although they aren’t a top unit, they aren’t keeping the team from accomplishing what they want on offense. Thankfully, holding calls aren’t being called like they have in previous seasons, they’re letting it go somewhat to keep the game flowing, and I’m enjoying it. Austin Jackson, Ereck Flowers, Ted Karras, Solomon Kindley and Jesse Davis. All of them have played every snap to their credit. Pretty impressive I’d say. You have to be pleased knowing they aren’t the problem. I said it, the O-line isn’t a problem. Feels good.

So is it really Ryan Fitzpatrick vs Garner Minshew? Hardly. James Robinson (undrafted) has been a big part of the offense, and Gardenr Minshew has played well throwing 6 TD’s with only 2 INT’s. Fitz has 2 TD’s and 3 INT’s but one of those INT’s was the garbage no-call PI at the end of the game by the Patriots. Still, Minshew is putting points on the board and not turning it over. I don’t really know what to expect tonight, will it be a shootout or a conservative close to the vest affair? Will we see more of Jordan Howard, or will Myles Gaskin be the bellcow? Will DeVante Parker be a factor? Will the defense make its presence felt? Stay tuned, tonight at 8:20PM on NFLN or your local channel affiliate. Enjoy!

Raiders with 2 huge mistakes, one on an offsides on 4th and 2, then a fumble in redzone. Neither hurting them. 3-0 LV

I’ll be back some time in December. I’m on page 2 right now . . .

Here’s a Q — In NFL.com FF why are the Rams players “LA” and Chargers players “LAC”? Seems unfair, like the Chargers are the red-headed step-child.

  8. steveccnv says:

Sometimes I wonder, if Goff is autistic or ADD. There’s got to be something with him, everytime I watch the Rams he makes a few head scratching plays. 3 today in the 1st half. Scrambling right with no one open he doesn’t get rid of the ball a D takes a sack. Same series 1 or 2 plays later he holds it too long and it pushes back the FG to 52 yards, which was missed, very RTesque. 19 seconds left in the half 2nd 10 at their own 35, he’s out of the pocket and scrambles for 2 yards trailing 21-3. Throw the FN ball away and save the 4 or 5 seconds.

He reminds me of former Rams QB Jim (Chrissy) Everett. They both seem really dense and tend to have the deer in headlights look far too often.

  9. steveccnv says:

LV goes 75 yards last 30 or so seconds of 1st half cheats 13-10.

  10. steveccnv says:

Diggs caught a TD pass, then punted the ball up into the stands, with no penalty (it went into the 3rd row😉) 🤔 is that allowed now?

Here’s a Q — In NFL.com FF why are the Rams players “LA” and Chargers players “LAC”? Seems unfair, like the Chargers are the red-headed step-child.

Why is LAC seemingly inferior to you? Maybe others see it the opposite. Why were the Rams slighted with only 2 letters? 🙄

    • stangerx says:

Cause LAC makes it seem like not as much the city’s team as LA would. Like said seemed the fair then was LAR for the Rams.

  13. bailbondmike says:

Pats running it down Raiders throat this game. Sucks to watch. 209 yards rushing and still in 3rd qtr.

  14. Tim Knight says:

Wow those Landry and Beckham contracts are really paying off for CLE. LOL

  15. CavalierKong says:

A number of good games today.

Rams now only down 3 after being down 25 to the Bills.
Pitt only down 1. Hopefully another Texans loss there.
Cincy up 4 against Philly in a back and forth game that no one cares about lol.
Titans just took the lead after being down two scores. Tanny keeps playing very well for the Titans.

  16. CavalierKong says:

    Steelers take the lead

  17. steveccnv says:

Buffalo pulls one out of their ass on a horrible PI on 4th and 9.

  18. steveccnv says:

Atlanta just can’t hold a lead.

    • Tim Knight says:

Yeah they’re bad at that. Start fast and finish poorly. I hope ATL airs it out now and Ridley gets me some more points. 🙂

  19. steveccnv says:

Watching these games today, with all of the comebacks, I give our D some credit on Thursday.

  20. stangerx says:

Bills and Pats won. Division looking a bit out of reach now.

  21. steveccnv says:

Hard to watch the TB vs Den game. I can’t root for Brady and I don’t want an AFC team to win, that may challenge us for a WC.

  22. Tim Knight says:

Stanger, I didn’t expect us to win the division anyway unless we go on some kind of major role nobody saw coming. But it’s way too early to call anything.

  23. The Flying Pig says:

    Glad to see Houston lost!

    Weeeeee

  24. stangerx says:

Bengals and Eagles tied at 23-23.
    That don’t happen much.

  25. The Flying Pig says:

Wow Metcalf made a stupid play

    • steveccnv says:

There’s lots of stupid players in the NFL now, just take a look at all of these QBs that you just can’t stop at the end of a game on a winning drive Mahomes, Jackson, Allen, Wilson, Wentz, Dak, Brees, Rothlesburger…not to mention the WRs that you can’t stop either. The rules have helped with that though.

  26. Ken says:

Murray on Arizona is such an inconsistent passer. He makes some really nice throws then he just makes some horrible ones where just stares down receivers with tunnel vision. I don’t think he is an NFL quarterback

    • steveccnv says:

Lol, they said the same thing about Allen, then try to stop either when you’re ahead and they have the ball with 2 minutes left.

      • Ken says:

Never saw anything like that out of Allen. Never heard that spoken about him. Big question on him was accuracy which I had no doubt that he would develop that

  27. Tim Knight says:

Stanger, this season may come down to the battle of attrition more than ever before. Players are dropping like flies.

  28. Tim Knight says:

Ken has always been a Josh Allen fan and he’s sticking to it. So far he’s right.

  29. wyoming85 says:

Somebody told you Allen had that kind of heart!
    Ya’ll just didn’t listen! 😉

  30. stangerx says:

Xavien Howard’s snap count on Thursday — 66 out of 66.

  31. The Flying Pig says:

Kalen Ballage just attempted the worst hurdle in nfl history

  32. The Flying Pig says:

  33. steveccnv says:

    Becton got hurt for jets.

  34. CavalierKong says:

4 teams from the NL Central going to the playoffs, lol.

    • bookman11 says:

Yeah, I can’t believe my Brewers made it. Has been a pretty uneventful 60 game season for them. Their starting pitching right now is a mess.

      • CavalierKong says:

Brewers made it tough on us the last week of the season. I wasn’t sure we were going to make it in. Not that I think it really matters much. We drew the Padres, and you guys have the Dodgers, so we’re likely both first round exits.

      • bookman11 says:

I agree. Brewers probably lose 2 quick games and done. Now watch their bats suddenly come alive lol.

  35. CavalierKong says:

This Thursday game came at a great time for us. Parker and Jones both have nagging type injuries. Hopefully the extra rest gets them healthier.

  36. steveccnv says:

Darnold had a Stinky Sanchez type of game. 3 bad ints, one in endzone, 2 pick Sixes, 168 yards.

  37. The Flying Pig says:

    Let’s go Heat!

    🔥🔥🔥

  38. manitobafinfan says:

Ya know SF has injury issues when Dion FF gets added to 53 and plays

  39. steveccnv says:

Really bad situational football by Packers on TD before half. 9 seconds left from the 10. GB should just hold the receivers, and don’t let them off the line. You get the 5 yard penalty for holding, but there would only be enough for one more play from the 5 with about 4 seconds left. You make NO decide td or fg.

I’ve been saying this for 10 years now, and the only team that has done something like this was Baltimore on last play of SB against SF, they did it on Offense.

  40. The Flying Pig says:

    Heat Win!

  41. steveccnv says:

    Brees showing his age.

  45. Rockphin says:

I love seeing our first round pick and second round pick from Houston being worth more this morning! Keep up the bad work Texans!

    • pheloniusphish says:

Does seem like Miami could get a top 5 pick out of it.

      • Mike E. says:

No shot! They’ve played 3 of the AFC’s best the first 3 weeks, Chiefs, Ravens and Steelers. They’re not that bad. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them 7-9 this season

      • Rockphin says:

I am so used to being miserable when it comes to football I find evil pleasure in seeing other’s suffer. I will be an EPIC fail on Houston’s part if we get the number 1 overall this year with their pick….LOL

      • Rockphin says:

** IT would be an epic fail, not I

  46. Rockphin says:

I read a fan article this weekend that said to root for Seattle yesterday because we want them to be undefeated and flying high so that they overlook us next Sunday. Well, whichever nimrod wrote the article he got is wish. I doubt very much we win next week because the Seagulls are looking past us to Vikings. I hope we just play a tough game and beat them up physically for a great home win.

    GO DOLPHINS!

D, if you’re out there, Kylin Hill looking good with 162 yards on 11 touches (rush and rec) and 1 TD.
    ————————————————————————————–
Yeah i caught most of that game. KJ Costello, you and i had talked about as well and how well he would do in that new system, id say over 600 years against LSU was a pretty good indication. Hill is a beast as well. I knew MSU was going to shock people this year but i didnt think it would be this early on.

    ————————————————————
I agree i thinhk they are a middle of the pack team. Apparently cant put it together to get wins against the best in the AFC, but certainly played them tough enough to beat the weaker teams. 7-9 through 9-7 potential.

  49. Rockphin says:

    https://dolphinswire.usatoday.com/2020/09/28/miami-dolphins-will-face-shaky-seahawks-defense-in-week-4/

HUH, SOOOOOO. It appears that Wilson is on a record setting tear throwing the most TD’s in the history of the NFL to open the season but his defense is the second worse in history (after our 2019 team which was the worst)

Play some keep away next week and we might have a chance.

    • steveccnv says:

Keep away is what we did on Thursday in the 2nd half. We need to score and score often, then score some more, and then more, more, more…or that little fucker Wilson will😏

  50. Rockphin says:

Miami had 12 first downs in the first quarter, the first time the Dolphins had more than 10 first downs in the first quarter of a game since at least 1992….

  51. Rockphin says:

    Stat of the Day

Xavien Howard and Noah Igbinoghene allowed only one reception on six pass targets combined Thursday night in Jacksonville. With Howard’s interception, and the completion going for only two yards, the Dolphins perimeter corners finished the game with a passer rating against of 0.0.

To bad our LB’s, S’s and Nickel allowed 100% of their passes to be caught! (well, 96%)

  52. steveccnv says:

The Seattle O that put up all those points against the Donkies in the SB takes a backseat to this year’s O. Wilson is so smooth in the pocket he’s almost untouchable, unless you bring a DB in to blitz.

    • steveccnv says:

I expect to see some exotic blitzes from our DBs on Sunday.

We’ve played Wilson twice, beat him in Miami his rookie season, then lost to him in Seattle 4 years ago game 1, in a game he was hobbled, but still (more on him later😉) managed to move around well enough to get the comeback win.

This was the game Suh sacked him and stepped on his ankle, and Stills dropped a wide open bomb in the first half.

Anyways, we haven’t seen the real Wilson as an opponent. I hope our D is up to the task. Anything under a 40dog I’ll consider a success.

  53. Rockphin says:

Well, he’s got to play somewhere once Jones comes back.

The coaches know this and have decided to NOT give him practice reps inside so that would lead an O75 to believe that the slot is NOT where they plan to play him…

  55. D says:

Key for us against the Sehawks will be pressuring Wilson and keeping him contained, and thats no easy task. If we can force “russel to cook” faster than he wants, he will burn dinner and we might could win. If he gets the time he got a lot during those previous games, he is going to kill us. We need Jones back too.

  59. D says:

Covering Tyler Lockette is going to be a tough assignment, same for covering Metcalf whose size and physicality might give us trouble. Going to be a tough day for X and Igmohagany. Even if Jones is back, if have X on Metcalf the whole game, Jones doesn’t need all that coming back from injury.

  64. bailbondmike says:

I know we are knocking on our defensive woes but, through 3 games, we are ranked 8th in giving up the fewest points. Does not include Ravens and Chiefs but at worst we are top 10. If Ravens score more than 25 points we will be #9 in scoring defense.

We do face the #2 scoring offense next week but their defense is the 9th worst scoring defense and their defense suffered a few more injuries yesterday that could cause some more players to be out or playing dinged up for their defense.

We will need to contain Wilson and DK Metcalf. They may without RB Carson and Rookie RG Lewis next week also. Both got injured and did not return to the game against Dallas.

    • bailbondmike says:

Seattle has given up 25, 30 and 31 points in their first 3 games.

    • D says:

To me Lockett is easily their biggest overall threat against us. Yes Metcalf too, but i feel better about X covering him than Igmahogany covering Lockett. Lockett getting open quick is going to kill any pass rush we can generate and we havent been generating much. No to be debbie downer, but our offense isnt going to help us much against their D, which is playing poorly, if they arent ever on the field. They will shew us up little bites at a time if we cant contain Lockett.

    • steveccnv says:

Wait, what, a meaningful stat? That’s unbelievable. Using the points per game from our last 2 games on O we’d be right at the top also. Ds around the league pretty much suck, it’s not just us.

Seattle has played 3 relatively close games, so a blowout isn’t something I’d bet on.

Russell Wilson is a huge threat because he’s smart, elusive and is always looking to make a play. They will be a very tough beat for us.

  67. bailbondmike says:

D, yeah, definitely can’t overlook Lockett. They are saying this could be the best receiving group Wilson has ever had. I think we all agree on what needs to happen if we are to have a chance.

  68. Mike E. says:

Truth is I’m not religious, I’m just doing it for the tradition. My father is probably rolling over in his grave as it is. My kids want no part of the religion, I get it. I just want them to know their heritage and uphold the traditions without plunging themselves into the religion they don’t believe in.

    • D says:

Religion is an act of free will faith and devotion, not to be forced upon anyone or expected that everyone will accept it. Im in the same boat with you there. Im not a fan of organized religion, but i have a faith and its strong. My kids i want them to know God, but come to it on their own.

Airbus says it can have hydrogen powered planes ready in 15 years. That means zero green house emissions. Pretty cool.

    • Rockphin says:

The only problem with “zero emission” Hydrogen is the amount of fossil fuels used to process the hydrogen. Maybe in 15 years the processes will be more efficient, but right now it takes electrolysis or or thermochemical procedures to obtain the pure hydrogen to burn. (it uses more energy than the hydrogen created)

It will be great when Bio systems or Solar Direct systems reach a point where we don’t create more pollution obtaining the hydrogen than it saves burning the fossil fuels to get the energy to separate out the hydrogen. It will be a beautiful day when we have a source of fuel we can burn that only gives off water as the waste product. (PURE H2O)

      • stangerx says:

I call you Prof Rock on that one. Well beyond my level on the subject. But if getting you right….. have visions of a solar array or windmill farm powering a hydrogen production facility.

  74. Ken says:

I think Russell Wilson is the best QB in the NFL right now

  75. Rockphin says:

The Dolphins have faced a 3-0 team 7 times in the history of the franchise. We are 0-7 in those contests.

Here is hoping for 1-7 this week…..

  76. solar is the future, my solar stocks are up 300 percent in 3 months, one small one went up 300 in a week

  77. VSLR, RUN< and SUNW are outperformers on the market, Im holding them for at least 5 years or longer

  78. the market green stocks are doing incredible, alternative energy is skyrocketing, while oil, drilling, and fossil fuels are going down, cheasapeake, the king of fracking, Val, and many others declared bankruptcy
i have electric car stocks, charging station stocks, solar, and even a tidal energy stock is doing great

the problem with oil, besides its extremely bad for the environment, and obsolete,
is there is no profit in it

  79. D says:

Was watching the science channel and they said that hydrogen isn’t an efficient enough fuel to offset the pull of gravity and thats why its never been used in the space program. They said that the amount of fuel and the container needed to hold the fuel for what it would take to get you off the ground is a negative return. My guess is it is going to take a while before its fully viable for use in travel. They did say that what they had hoped, after finding pockets of ice on the moon was that they could stage a liftoff, where only transport needed from earth to outer space would be to get people there would be a shuttle, and that the long range launch would use hydrogen converted from the ice pockets from the surface of the moon. Said that that seems doable since on the moon the force of gravity would be 60% less than on earth.

    • stangerx says:

Liquid hydrogen is how most stuff is boosted up into space. But for sure not efficient for every day use on the world yet. Way too expensive versus your petro products. The future is the future though. And Airbus is already designing planes to use it.

      • Rockphin says:

Aluminum fuel is used in the solid booster rockets (with Ammonium perchlorate used as the accelerator to oxidize the aluminum) and liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen is used in the liquid rockets.

Dude you know so much. Do know Space Shuttle used hydrogen. So been around for a while.

the MAIN engine on the space shuttle (Orange) was liquid H & O2, but the two smaller rockets (white) that would fall off first were Aluminum engines.

My ex-wife’s uncle was a rocket scientist….LOL….literally…..he worked on the shuttle programs.

    • D says:

The liquid H&O2 isn’t what gets it off the ground though, thats what i was saying and the plan for the launch from the moon is pure hydrogen, not a mix.

    • stangerx says:

Rock — that’s why like talking to people who know more than me about whatever. I learn. We’re till left with hydrogen has been a space fuel for a good long time though.

  85. Rockphin says:

The first time I met my ex’s uncle we were sitting around on the 4th of July shooting the shit and that cat knew ALOT of stuff so jokingly I asked “what, are you a rocket scientist or something?” He looked at me and then at my ex and laughed and waited for HER to explain to me that YES he works for NASA. LOL

Stanger – I guess it’s no different from a Catholic going to a confessional for their sins. It’s not a license to kill, it’s just meant to absolve you of wrongdoings or sins. Thanks for asking. Everything is about as good as can be here. Mom’s got 2 chemo treatments left on the ovarian cancer, then she gets a month off to see how her body responds and what her CA125 (protein marker) numbers look like. Then she moves on to treating the tumors in her liver which we have no idea what that will look like yet.

It’s a roller coaster. She had to have a blood transfusion a couple of weeks ago as her counts weren’t bouncing back after her treatments. She was so weak she couldn’t shower by herself, but the transfusion really gave her a boost, and she’s looking strong for the last 2 sessions and is really looking forward to a month with no needles, no nausea, no medication, no pain. I’m really looking forward to it too, lol.

    Cheers 🙂

CAV KONG: BEST WISHES to your Mom in this difficult time. Fighting cancer isn’t easy. Everyone in my household will keep her, and YOU, in our thoughts. Before tonight’s Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals got underway, I was thinking how great it would be for Pat Maroon to score the winning goal and clinch the Cup for the Lightning!
    ————–
Right now, Brayden Point has the only goal in tonight’s game. The Lightning started strong. And the Stars committed TWO penalties to help the Bolts. As a result, Tampa Bay had 11 of the first 12 shots on goal with just 3 minutes left in the period. But a Lightning penalty led to a ferocious power play by Dallas. Dickinson nearly tied the score with about 1 minute left in the first stanza. But Vasilevskiy made a big save, preserving the Bolts 1 goal margin. I believe there’s about 30 seconds left in Dallas’ man advantage starting in the 2nd period.
    ————–
I’ll return after the end of period #2. GOO-O-O Bolts!!

  98. olddolphan says:

TODAY AT WORK I TOLD EVERYBODY that Tampa Bay has followed every game that they lost vs. the Blue Jackets, the Bruins, the Islanders and the Dallas Stars with a win IN THE FOLLOWING CONTEST!! SO I CATEGORICALLY PREDICTED a Bolts’ win tonight!!

So far, Tampa Bay has followed the script. Blake Coleman’s goal in the 2nd period put the Lightning up 2-0. Tampa Bay has out shot (by 21-8) out hit and out scored the Stars in both periods so far. Dallas has looked a little slow and tired at times in this contest. And why not?? The combination of several overtime games plus defending against Tampa Bay’s impressive firepower has been a lot to overcome. The Stars are going to need a truly impressive 3rd period performance to pull this game out of the fire.

MEANWHILE, thousands and thousands of hard core Lightning Fans are gathered around Amalie Arena in Downtown Tampa viewing the game on several humongous outdoor Jumbotrons!! The loudly cheer EVERY good play by their beloved Bolts!!

    LIGHTNING FANS WANT ONE THING.
    THEY WANT THE STANLEY CUP!!!

VICTOR HEDMAN GETS THE CONN SMYTHE AWARD!! What a Tower of Power he is!! — I would not have argued had young Brayden Point won the SMYTHE AWARD. He is a super star on the rise, that’s for sure! And a tip of the cap certainly is due to head coach Jon Cooper, who has won the chapionship at EVERY LEVEL HE’s COACHED AT!!

Finally, give credit to the National Hockey League and the government of Canada for putting on these playoffs under extremely difficult circumstances. Hopefully, all the “BUBBLES” and special arrangements will NOT BE NEEDED next season.

    • Mike E. says:

Pretty accurate except it was Rockball. Surely you’ve heard the expression “Carry the rock”. Well, that’s where it all started. You learned to get your hands out front and catch that thing because if you let it get to your body, there were usually broken ribs involved.

    • steveccnv says:

ESPN has us at #24 and this RETARDED comment

What we got wrong: The Dolphins’ offense would be more balanced.

Offensive coordinator Chan Gailey said in mid-August that he wanted the Dolphins to “be able to run the football and throw the football effectively. That’s really big in the way I see offensive football.” But the Dolphins (1-2) have thrown the ball for roughly twice as many yards as they have run it (649 to 324). Miami, which faces an unbeaten Seahawks team in Week 4, is still in search of the right mix as it tries to get more production out of running back Myles Gaskin and improved play from tight end Mike Gesicki and receiver Preston Williams. — ESPN staff

Has there been a team in the last 30 years that’s been close to having the rushing yards = passing? I think more balanced means times running vs passing SMH.

    • steveccnv says:

I would’ve cared more, if we were 3-0 or 2-1.

    • stangerx says:

You knew it was only a matter of when. Q is how many times will happen.

      • steveccnv says:

The question is what happens, if a team gets 10 or more cases? Will the game still be played? If not how will they handle make up games?

      • stangerx says:

I’m sure that is in those protocols too. They did expand the PS and change the rules for getting on the active roster (and back) for a reason though.

    • The Flying Pig says:

      That’s not good

I think the nfl can take a few more precautions like full face shields in helmets just to place it safe

I don’t know if they ever did it, but I think TAMU was looking at it at some point

  109. steveccnv says:

Likely the Titans’ game this week will still be played, if the player count stays at 3.

  110. steveccnv says:

It feels like the NFL is trying to make this as apolitical as possible, they want to play a full season, if they don’t there’s going to be huge salary cap implications for next season, and these teams that signed massive contracts in the offseason are going to be hurting. I’m not totally against having the season cut short or cancelled.

  111. Ken says:

Titans, Vikings Suspend Team Activities After Several Test Positive for COVID-19

  112. stangerx says:

Starting to think our first pick in the 2021 draft will be the one we got from Houston.
    ——————————
    “Houston still has to play:
    Tennessee Titans (x2)
    The Indianapolis Colts (x2)
    The New England Patriots
    The Green Bay Packers
Additionally, Houston has the 2-1 Browns and the 3-0 Chicago Bears on the schedule as well. That’s 8 tough games for Houston to have to digest.”

    • D says:

Thing is, they are capable of beating those teams, especially the titans who really win or lose off of Henry. Bears are a mirage 3-0, and as far as the Browns go, you know they are just waiting to implode lol. I still see a likely 8-8 team, but i will be happy if im wrong.

  113. D says:

Yeah they had a scare on Sunday, cant remember which team it was, but the rest of the players didnt test positive. Sound like this one wasn’t as fortunate.

  114. stangerx says:

Some quotes from a NY Post article. And Gase thought Omar was tough.

“Adam Gase did what Adam Gase does best: Shrink in the face of a challenge. Never before and never again will you witness a coach that waves the white flag quicker when things aren’t optimal than this guy. Expecting Gase to help his young pupil (Darnold) is a lost cause.”

“Gase was perfectly content hiding out in his office rather than actually leading men out of trouble. It’s why Gase isn’t respected by players or coaches even if they won’t say it out loud.”

“Here’s what Gase is: A good salesman. Here’s what Gase isn’t: A leader of men.”

    • D says:

I doubt anyone thinks Omar is tough, he doesn’t ask tough questions, he asks stupid ones. This guy at the Post is slinging daggers and each one of them hit home because its spot on the truth.

  115. Tim Knight says:

Here’s a recent Omar tweet article. I didn’t even click on it. He just can’t move on and loves to twist the knife into Dolphins fans. I think he gets off on that just like Mando does.

Well, the debate was a disgrace. They need a freaking referee, and they need to punish a candidate that doesn’t follow the rules and continues to interrupt. It was maddening. Embarrassing. Seriously, if you’re warned and you talk over the other candidate you should lose the ability to respond to the next question and it should continue to happen if you continue to do so. I wanted to strangle Trump last night, WTF!!! Then you have CBS after the debate with these disgusted looks on their face and make it like that was Trump’s strategy to not let Joe talk. OMG! Trump is a fucking 8 year old child, he has no strategy and couldn’t adhere to one if that meant controlling himself in order to do so. Everything about that debate was disappointing, there was no substance at all. I hope they can lay some stronger ground rules for the next one so we don’t all waste our time watching that garbage. I know firmly that I don’t want to vote for either candidate.

    • we need Dwayne Johnson and Christian Wilkins to hold the next debate, and if trump wont stop lying non stop and interrupting take him out back and give him the first fight in his life, lol

    • Krishna says:

What’s interesting to me, Mike E., is why you are just now seeing and acknowledging what some of have seen for many years, well beyond his political run. I am not dissing you, it’s a true effort to try and understand why people support him and his schtick.

I don’t get it. He is a disgrace and dangerous, imo. His true colors have been on political display for 5 years and he’s cheated and lied all is life. Now, he’s empowered to go all in.

What’s going to stop him from more of the same and worse? And, yeah it can get worse, imo.

      • pheloniusphish says:

        Best response I’ve seen:

My big takeaways from the first presidential debate:

        1) If you came into this debate heavily favoring one candidate you probably favor them now even more. But if you came into this debate undecided, you’d probably prefer not to have to decide.

        2) Neither candidate made much of an appeal to undecided voters, as much as they checked the boxes of spite for the other each of their most ardent supporters would prefer.

        3) Trump missed numerous opportunities to better articulate his record, as well as hit Biden on issues people care about. And Hunter Biden isn’t one of them. That is a separate potential criminal issue that most voters don’t care about. Trump should’ve let Biden talk more, but kept letting him off the hook by not forcing the dementia to the forefront.

        4) Biden hurt his case that he’s the adult in the room, the steady hand, and the man to return America to normalcy and decency. He took the bait from Trump, and instead of rising above the trolling as a lot of undecided voters would prefer, he went the Young Turks route. He called Trump a clown, a racist, a liar, and the worst president we’ve ever had all in the same debate. He already has all the votes of partisans that wanted to see him do that, but what about the suburban voters that don’t?

        5) I typically think that complaining about biased debate moderators as a conservative is a cliché. Media bias is just baked into the cake of this process, and part of your job as the Republican nominee is to learn how to overcome it. For you will have to in order to win the election, and then govern after you win. That being said though, Chris Wallace was even worse than I thought he was going to be. He was both biased and unprofessional and ineffective. Other than that, he has a wonderful singing voice.

        6) Trump clearly believed that pestering and antagonizing Biden would cause a dementia provoked meltdown. The exact opposite was the case. By challenging Biden head on and often personally, the testosterone kicks in as does the adrenaline Where Biden has been mentally faltering is when he has to give specifics on public policy. By making most of tonight about pugilism instead of policy, Trump helped Biden’s dementia to stay mostly hidden.

        7) Voters received an honest appraisal of who these two men are. Trump is just unnecessarily unlikable at times, and makes it hard to take yes for an answer even when you want to give it to him. On the other hand, Biden is a man obviously well past his prime, who is still promising to fix the same problems he didn’t fix for the past 47 years with the same failed solutions.

Tonight sent voters a message they may not have wanted to hear. You’re not going to get any better from these two men than what you already know. They’re both almost 80 and finished products. So it really comes down to this: you have to decide if what you don’t like about Donald Trump is worth turning the country over to communists or not?

That’s it, nothing more and nothing less. There’s nothing more aspirational taking place than that — mere survival. I wish that wasn’t the case, but it is what it is.

      • Krishna says:

Lol….well I’m sure you thought this slighted conservative comment was the best summation and the last sentence was to the point.

To that point, I would prefer to live in a free society without divisive rhetoric, misogyny, xenophobia, and an autocratic/fascist ruler.

        ….the path we’re on now?

  118. would Mahomes make Gase look good? lol wow thats a tough question

im going to say NO, because neither Mahomes or Gase coach the defense

  119. Mike E. says:

Krishna – It’s not all about the guys personality. I don’t like Trump, but I do agree with many of the issues he supports. If you’re going to try and say I can’t do that, I see so many Democrats who can’t stand Joe Biden and wanted Bernie Sanders to win Riden with Biden because he’s their party’s candidate. People consistently confuse people who support Trump as Trump supporters when they’re really just supporting the party and the issues. I’d prefer to like the candidate, but I don’t. I don’t like Biden either, he’s a washed up old politician who was never a good politician in the first place but has degraded to almost useless at this point. He’s a snarky liar as well, really no better than Trump. You can convince yourself otherwise, feel free to do so, I have many friends that continue to do just that.

  120. D says:

Ive only seen the trimmed down version to save some time and waste of minutes in my life. Ididnt catch them live, but this is what i expected, so im glad i missed it.

Again, there is no sweet old man in this election, even though Grandpa Joe wants to pretend like he is. He was just as rude and he took the bait to get down in the mud. Trump won this one, even though it was an utter disgrace, just by the simple fact that people expected this of Trump and may have held out hope Joe would have risen above it. Its like i said, Joe cant control his emotions. He also cant stay on track, so you have a guy who comes out prodding him, and he jumps right into it and now its just a disgusting display of two people seeing who can bitch slap the other the hardest.

Like Phel said, this didnt help any side pick a side, it helped those that had picked a side already stand assured of their choice. Im in the group where all it did was bolster my belief that all you do playing with shit is get shit all over ya. Talking over someone, telling people to shut up, not debating anything, just puffing up your chest and slandering the other. Its unfortunately everything it was expected to be, and im sure it goes basically the same way in the next one, unless the moderators do something sever to stay it.

Again, this election is about which terd you would rather put in your mouth and call a pop-sickle, and im sorry i just dont like the taste of shit personally and i really dont have a side to recognize one has my parties sprinkles on it to help make one choice more palatable.

  121. pheloniusphish says:

Based on that fact checker, everything Biden said last night was true😏

    • Krishna says:

I prefer to live in America, too. You think Trump is giving you that?

I think every thing he does is first and foremost for himself, policy be damned. Again, what is that policy?

    • Krishna says:

Pp, you need to get off the anarchy-looting-rioting stump you’re on. It’s beneath you if you think you think I support that.

      I don’t think most do.

  122. Ken says:

I will break my self imposed rule about not talking politics for just a moment. The Democratic Party doesn’t supports riots and looting. Anyone who believes that has bought into the Republican Party/Trump spin machine. That belief has about the same level of probability that there is a Satanic pedophile ring running the country. To me this election comes down to that there is one candidate who believes in racial equality and another who refused to condemn white supremacists. I now return to football. Go Phins

    • steveccnv says:

The democratic party doesn’t support the looting and riots is the biggest gas lighting job ever.

Kamala says she supports them, they don’t prosecute them, but they’ll certainly go after those on the right that even try to defend themselves from these rioters.

Even if you think they don’t support them, why don’t they condemn them?

What was that kneeling crap Pelosi, Schumer and the rest of them all about then? BLM support.

Why does Trump have to condemn those that are called white supremacists at every turn, yet the dems never do for the far left groups who are creating far more chaos?

      • Ken says:

^straight out of Breitbart^ and last time I checked kneeling didn’t fall into the definition of rioting and looting but go Phins

      • steveccnv says:

And your crao is straight out of the dem playbook.

No, but kneeling does fall into support for those doing the rioting and looting.

Policy and plan you like by Trump over the last 4 years? – Off the top of my head: Deregulation, military disengagement from endless wars, enforcement of immigration laws, lowering taxes, energy independence, repeal of the ACA, putting constitutionalist judges on the benches, trade policies especially regarding China.

Leadership qualities? Few. Actually tries to meet campaign promises.

Knowledgeable? Or stupid? More cunning than smart. Understands what drives people. Doesn’t understand the value of silence.

Cares about you or himself? Big, fragile ego. Cares about the country.

Worldly? Or, embarrassing to the world? Ego doesn’t allow him to shut up. Says/tweets stupid shit.

Saving us from invasions of women and children? Thank god he caged and lost them. – Enforced immigration laws, reduced burdens caused by uncontrolled illegal immigration. Put them in the cages built by Obama/Biden under the rules they instituted.

Providing medical care for our own, taking care of our people being attacked? Why? ACA has caused premiums to skyrocket and care to plummet. What good is having insurance if you can’t afford the out of pocket costs?

    Perhaps, I’m idealistic.

  129. D says:

I dont think either candidate give two shits about racial equality. Biden has been on the other side of that rope before, its been proven on his stances in the past. I think Trump did pass on the opportunity to distance himself from white supremacy last night, but tried to walk the line, still that was about as loaded a question fro a moderator who was supposed to be playing it even, that you can get. Me personally, i both know why it was a hard question for him to answer cleanly, and why it shouldn’t have been, but the statement that Biden believes in racial equality i think is far off. Lots of forgiving the other guy just because of clear disapproval in the one. Neither of these guys are worth a shit, just be real, they represent the same thing, with the same goal. Political power.

Why do you think there was so much made over the appointment of the new Justice? Because both sides wanted their guy in. For fairness and equality in that branch of the government? No for their side to have power in that branch. Why is there such a stalemate in the stimulus talk….because Pelosi knows dragging that discontent out through the election favors them to do so. Will only hurt incumbents. When people wake up to the idea that neither side gives two fucks about you and starts demanding something different the sooner we can get this shit moving int he right direction and stop having shit choices all the time.

Also being asked to condemn white supremacists shouldn’t be a hard question for anyone

      • pheloniusphish says:

I admittedly don’t know much about the Proud Boys and why they are a white supremacist group, but Trump certainly fumbled that answer. Should have simply condemned white supremacist groups in general. On the other extreme, Biden should have just condemned Antifa instead of trying to say they aren’t really a movement.

      • Ken says:

Proud Boys is a very racist group that was behind some recent shootings of law enforcement officers and while Biden did say that Antifa is more of an idea than organization Biden did condemn political violence by left wing radicals but did not specify any particular group

  130. Krishna says:

Nafta….the existing treaty was updated to reflect a changing world and then given a new name. Ok. Grand policy change, not.

Not sure why ending a pact to try bringing the world together on climate concerns is a policy improvement or good for the world. Hmmmm.

Iran deal, enforce it …now there is none. Keep tearing everything down. New policy? What was the replacement?

Chin trade deal? Did you mean tariff war? How has that benefited Americans? Please explain.

Ukraine alliance? You lost me again.

Middle East peace agreement is the first I agree with you. A foreign affair.

I’m pretty certain he has NOT brought back mfg jobs.

And, the economy didn’t change on a dime January 2017. The economy road on the coattails of the Obama/Biden administration and then was juiced tax breaks for the wealthy, perhaps a few here benefited, but doubt most.

Btw….unemployment, crime rates, and illegal immigration have all risen during the Trump term. Fan, fucking, tastic.

    • steveccnv says:

NAFTA was updated, because we have an unfavorable deal in the old one. USMCA evens the playing field.

Paris Climate Accord was a sham from the start, all it was, was an agreement that each country write down what they were going to do to help the climate. The US had high reaching goals that tries to live up to. It should’ve be a fairer agreement. I believe Trump tried to change it before getting out.

There was no benefit to the Iran deal, they weren’t living up to what they agreed upon.

The China trade deal cut the trade deficit we had with China, that Biden in part made by giving China favors in return for Hunter getting 1.5B invested in his company. Corruption at its finest.

The Ukraine alliance, Trump is working with their president to clean up the corruption there, that again buden had a hand in on.

MFG jobs came back when Trump changed the business tax laws and removes many of the regulations Obama put in.

You’re correct the economy didn’t change on a dime January 2017, it changed over night after the election November 2016, but you wouldn’t know that, because the MSM and NPR didn’t tell you. All I heard after the election was all the companies signing contracts to come back. LOFL about riding the coatails of the obama/Biden economy, which had the worst GDP growth for any president ever. The only growth was the coming out of a recession that us a given, but even slow at that.

unemployment, crime rates, and illegal immigration have all risen during the Trump term. You’re really going there with what happened during the pandemic? You really want to talk about crime rates in dem run cities? Illegal immigration is down, put that in Google and see what you find. It was up for a while, because of some dem policies that were supposed to take affect, but never made it into law, and caused those caravans a few years ago.

Sometimes I think you think we’re stupid in that, well Trump is president, so anything that happens while he’s president is his fault. Maybe you don’t think we know about separation of powers or how states control things at state and local levels.

    • pheloniusphish says:

Unemployment and crime rates were at historic lows before COVID (for unemployment) and George Floyd (for crime). Illegal immigration has slowed by yuge numbers:

Paris Accord was great for India, China, and the like, not so much for the US. It would have strangled our industry.

Tariffs, NAFTA, deregulation, tax reform are all reason manufacturing is coming back to the US. It’s called re-shoring. https://princemanufacturing.com/manufacturing-is-moving-from-china-to-the-united-states/

Anybody who has dealt with or studied Iran would tell you that they were not ever going to honor the Iran deal. You can’t pay bad guys to be good guys. We couldn’t enforce the treaty alone as a signatory. By withdrawing we can.

Don’t know what the Ukraine comment is about. Sorry.

I came to at least one firm conclusion last night . If they do that format when a candidate has his 2 minutes to talk on the subject they should turn turn off the mike of the other one. Never had to do that before, but then never had a debate like that one.

Unfortunately last night’s debate proved that Biden does indeed have dementia…. he couldn’t even complete a single sentence. 🙂

    • pheloniusphish says:

I was somewhat surprised at how well he did. I think that trump’s continuous interruptions and attacks actually helped him. Kept him from having to hold a train of thought for extended periods.

      • stangerx says:

Biden did OK. Sorta of what I expected, but then see him as nice guy milk toast anyhow. But whatever would have happened on train of thought, those interruptions sure did help Joe. Trump was more Trump than usual, which is the last thing he wanted to be. Whoever likes Trump the brash warrior is already voting for him, but same thing scares people in the middle.

    • steveccnv says:

      Wait what?

      • stangerx says:

Just joking that Trump wouldn’t let Biden finish a single sentence. Not literally true but not all that far off either.

      • steveccnv says:

I was referring to you saying Biden has dementia.

      • stangerx says:

It was part of the joke. Some people on the right have been claiming that for months. And yes not being able to complete a full sentence would be a symptom of it, says a guy whose Mom had severe dementia.

    pheloniusphish says:
    September 30, 2020 at 11:52 am
I agree with Steve. I don’t think you personally support it (although I don’t really know you), but the party you support doesn’t condemn it. Ergo the party supports it.

That is EXACTLY like saying Trump won’t condemn white supremacy and Nazi’s (there are very fine people on both sides…) so ergo the party supports it. IT IS THE SAME ARGUMENT but you only buy one side of it.

you cannot find one single Dem who says that they support riots and anarchy. because not one has said so. They are just pussies about it and wont address it. Just like Trump is a pussy when it comes to condemning the KKK / white nationalists.

    • steveccnv says:

Trump has condemned white supremacists over and over, not sure sure what last night was about. I don’t know who this group was, or if they’re just fed up people, that had enough of the looters and rioters.

    • pheloniusphish says:

Kamala Harris said she supported it. Any number of Democrats have said they support BLM and the rioters. The democratic party is the party of socialism – they have accepted self-declared socialists.

      • Ken says:

Party never said it supported rioters. Supporting BLM is very different than supporting rioting. Also saying Democrats are the party of socialism is just not accurate and the proof is this past Presidential primaries when the party rejected the far left extremist elements of the party and overwhelmingly coalesced around a centrist candidate

      • pheloniusphish says:

Party leadership allows socialists to remain in their party. Party of socialism. Kick them out of the party and I’ll accept they’re not.

      • pheloniusphish says:

Rioters and looters are part of BLM (also a socialist group). BLM supports them. BLM is every bit as racist as the Proud Boys or KKK.

      • Ken says:

Not every Republican is racist just as not every Democratic is a Socialist. You can’t have that both ways

  135. Krishna says:

And, my thing on healthcare goes back to HS days and has nothing to do with politics.

I have NEVER understood why we didn’t have a healthcare system in this country that took care of all us. All of us are Americans, yet prior to ACA it was on each of us to figure it out.

I would be bankrupt due to a catastrophic illness to Mrs. K without health insurance. Why is that a bad thing and WHY can we not fix it for everyone whose an American?

Fix it, don’t tear it down. There is a lot of fixing needed.

    • steveccnv says:

Maybe there is something we can do, but ACA definitely isn’t it and wasn’t passed to be it.

Pelosi said, we’ll approve it then once it passes we’ll read it. What kind of shit is that?

The idea was to put something in that was a start to socialized healthcare then, because it was so bad people would want to change it to single payer, but Trump ruined their plan by getting elected.

Socialized healthcare would bring either skyrocketed taxes or very bad healthcare or both. No one seems to have a good choice yet for a good way to do it mostly, because govt can’t do anything cheap with all of the bureaucracy.

  136. The Flying Pig says:

Trump said he had a better replacement for the ACA ready to go…Three years ago. He had control the house and Senate for two years. Where is my better / cheaper health care? IT WAS READY TO GO. Oh, wait, that was another lie!?? NO!!!!

    • stangerx says:

I’m sure his folks have been working on that all along, but man is comprehensive national health care. Once you do the nuts and bolts you either end up with a huge price tag or people without health care coverage. Both of those are political hits.

      • pheloniusphish says:

And neither the House nor the Senate, the people who actually have write and vote on the laws, were willing to take it up.

      • stangerx says:

It’s a tough nut to crack. But Trump has been trying to aggressively cancel (judicially) what we have (Obamacare) while saying he has a far better replacement. But the release of the far better world on this apparently will be released same time day as his tax returns. He should have just stayed away…. political quagmire.

  138. CavalierKong says:

And those two things, especially the anticipation part, is something that guys usually have to come into the league to learn and figure out, and he does a great job of that.

“And then, the other thing is his willingness to work and his willingness to ask questions, and his overall personality and how people tend to gravitate towards him because of the kind of guy he is off the field. Just watching him practice and all that, he’s going to be a great player. Tua has an amazing future.”

Just like how the Breonna Taylor case was reported initially by the media. All we heard was the police went to the wrong address with a no-knock warrant and shot an innocent black women 7 times in her bed. That never made sense to me. Now we know that was totally inaccurate. The police went to the right address, knocked on the door, got fired upon by Breonna’s boyfriend, they returned fire in the hallway where her coward boyfriend ran behind her and she was killed. Her boyfriend admitted he fired first on the police.

I still know people who believe the first report because it fits their narrative. That’s dangerous shit, man.

Just one last thing on the economy since some of you think it’s all because of Trump, it is measured in decades, typically.

Obama inherited a disaster economy and bailed out mfg, auto industry, etc. The economy was going over a cliff. It took a few years to redirect.

It’s a shame he didn’t prosecute those bankers/wealth mers responsible.

6 years of a slow, solid rebuild of the economy Trump inherited. Then, he juiced it. Impressive, not.

All economic indicators were trending in a positive direction when he hopped on coattails. Good job knowing when to ride the wave and pumped it up.

Taking credit for a trending 10 year cycle you had nothing to do with from the beginning is riding coattails, imo.

    • Rockphin says:

You can’t convince them Krishna. I can post a hundred charts to back this up, but Trump said he inherited the worse economy in history so nimrods will believe him.

Obviously I agree with both you (it’s not a secret)

But I totally agree with a Rock

It’s not worth it a lot of the time

People have All kind of reasons for drawing the conclusions they do. It’s not worth piling on how much we disagree with each other.

At some point posting clips and that sort of thing can just appear antagonistic and intended to troll. It’s somewhat fluid when it goes over the top. But it’s easy to get pulled down an ugly spiral if you disagree

I get it – we all have our .02

But it’s good thing to live in a country where people Feel drastically different about things. I don’t think in October almost a month away from the election, it’s worth persuading people who have strong opinions on these subjects

At some point we have to respect each other’s right to make their own decisions and do what right for them even if we don’t understand it

1 person having 1 vote means a lot of different people with a lot of different ideas and a lot of different backgrounds and experiences

I do enjoy both of your posts though, don’t get me wrong
It’s great to see many different opinions on these subjects

    • The Flying Pig says:

I don’t see that happening in my lifetime

No one reported it to me. That was how I felt. I’m not surprised anymore that different people draw different conclusions. But I don’t follow the media’s lead or any politicians lead on these issues. They are all lagging behind in my opinion. I don’t know why people watch that and don’t see brazen racism – but I am okay with the fact that some people don’t. I don’t think they are being told to feel that way or not to feel that way. So I just don’t get why people argue the other way around. It wasn’t how it was reported that makes a difference to me

    • Tim Knight says:

  158. steveccnv says:

Rewatching the debate it wasn’t as bad as it seemed. Wallace was one-sided and really bad. The format had as much to do with the over talking as anything, not enough time to respond.

I believe Biden made up on the fly half of what he said and his numbers he pulled out of his ass. The other half made less sense.

    • steveccnv says:

And there’s way too many questions from Wallace, so no time to respond, hence talking over each other.

    • steveccnv says:

Wallace keeps saving Joe from answering.

On the white supremacy question Wallace asks Trump, if he’ll ask them to stand down and he says sure, then he says sure I’ll do that give me a group. Biden says Proud Boys, and Trump says stand down stand back.

Wallace asked if Trump will ask them to stand back and he used the exact words that was asked of him.

  162. Tim Knight says:

For the record, there is a difference in “white supremacy” or “any supremacy” and being bigoted. I know lots of bigots, and many have black, brown and other forms of olive and yellow skin too. Some people don’t like other cultures. As an example, I know a lot of Ecuadorians who hate Dominicans. I know Asian/Oriental people who despise other Asian/Oriental people. What’s that all about?

I’ll tell you… it’s not about race, color of skin or language, it’s about culture and class. Not all humans like each other. The Euro “white” race has been at war with each other for thousands of years. Ever hear about the Norse invading what we now know as the UK and Ireland back in the 800’s? England, Spain and France at war for centuries. What about the warlords all over Africa? Russia and Baltic nations. Native Americans were at war with each other long before the colonialists came here. We can do this for hours.

Biden has a more racist history than Trump does and Kamala Harris called Biden out on it in the primaries. But she made sure to ask the question calling him out as a racist by also saying; “I don’t believe you’re a racist”, for political purposes. Now they’re two peas in a pod. Funny how that works.

To deny how far this country has come as the great melting pot really pisses me off. I’m going to say this really simply and direct. If you haven’t seen that progress, you either don’t want to or you’re an idiot, or both. The majority is going to move on without you anyway.

    JUST A FEW RANDOM THOUGHTS:
—1) Celebrations of Tampa Bay’s Stanley Cup Championship are winding down on the NHL Network DIRECTV Ch. 215. This afternoon boat parade was held down near the Arena. Looked to me like a few of the participants would have flunked a road sobriety test. The evening is wrapping up at Raymond James Stadium where the Bolts (unlike Tom-boy and the Buccaneers) will experience the thrill of a championship!!! Me and Mrs OD will get our second straight good night’s sleep, which we need, after staying up too late on some of those overtime hockey games!! However, that damn smile on my face just WON’T go away!!
–2) The need for sleep last night prevented us from watching the so-called “Debate.” Those of you who watched it to the bitter end may have a better appreciation why I’ve voted Libertarian in the last two presidential elections.
–3) The Adam Gase “You’re Fired Road Show” returns to the Meadowlands where Gase’s Crew plays the miserably bad Broncos tomorrow night. LAST THURSDAY NIGHT, viewers got to see a young and improving Dolphins team take favored Jacksonville team to the woodshed!! I predict the entertainment value of this Jets-Broncos game to be considerably less. Will it be the NFL’s equivalent of last night’s “Debate?”
–4) FINALLY, it looks like FAU’s football team actually will play a game (on ESPNU) this saturday afternoon. Their first three contests were all cancelled because of a huge wave of corona virus cases suffered by both FAU and the schools they were have supposed to played. New coach Willie Taggert was a late replacement for Lane Kiffin, who bolted to the SEC when Ole Miss offered him their HC job. Taggert RUINED FSU’s program and was fired in mid-season last year. He’s still owed around $20 million or so from that contract by the Semin-Holes!!! I shudder to think what Taggert’s going to do before he gets canned at FAU. –That said, the Owls are favored by about a touchdown in this contest.
    Y’all have a great evening!

PIGGY, here’s more proof that TRUMP sucks at being a racist…..lol.

    • TOP SECRET says:

do you need more “call outs” ? ………..SMH.

    • The Flying Pig says:

Jeffrey Dahmer had pudding once but he was still a cannibal

It really just shows gross lack of understanding of these issues if you think some one can just talk it away later.

That’s not how it works….but okay

  170. TOP SECRET says:

    more racism…..lol.

you know if you didn’t only watch the fake news, you would know this….lol.

    • The Flying Pig says:

You are so tone deaf to these issues you are now publicly making the “but I have black friends argument”

      Congratulations

  171. TOP SECRET says:

    oops….. i found more presidential racism…..lol.

should i keep going? he’s actually done a lot.

    • TOP SECRET says:

      look PIGGY, more black friends……..PROPS……..lol.

    • The Flying Pig says:

      Yes please

Keep going, I have one for you too

Here he is pushing for the death penalty for the Central Park
A full page ad pushing for the death of 5 minorities for a crime they didn’t commit

      That was a good one

      • TOP SECRET says:

was that a racism thing or criminal thing?……..lol……but keep trying.

      • The Flying Pig says:

        Really

What in the actual fuck is wrong with you?

Do you think racism doesn’t lead to minorities being wrongly accused of crimes?

How did this concept go over your head. There are lynchings that occurred bc this happened in our history bc Africans Americans were accused of crimes they didn’t commit

He’s advocating for the death penalty for minorities who actually didn’t commit the crime

It wasn’t a “crime thing”. It was a racist thing specially bc there was no actual crime thing that occurred.

  172. The Flying Pig says:

    What’s next?

Is some one going to post a photo of Hitler helping his wife make dinner to argue what a good guy he is?

      • The Flying Pig says:

        Sure Top

One guy on YouTube you worship makes up for glaring discrepancies between Trump and Biden among African Americans

I challenge you to find one poll where Trump has a larger share of the African American vote than Biden

I challenge you to find one where he’s within 10 points….lol

        I know it’s hard to digest…it shouldn’t be
But while you are praising random anomalies in your tune try to give some thought to
why so many of the people who face this racism dont support trump

  173. The Flying Pig says:

Do I have to post the story about demanding the prior presidents Birth certificate
Only to refuse to apologize when the president produced it

I don’t know if your selective memory omitted birtherism as racism bc it met a political end….I hope you can remember him instead of just posting videos of the President with black people

    • The Flying Pig says:

      Honestly

      Stop for a second

      I’m serious

Do you not understand how ignorant it is to post videos of random black people praising trump to prove he’s not racist?

Is this really how you think?

Do you not think birtherism was racist?

      I’m floored.

  174. Tim Knight says:

Black friends comments are also viewed as racist comments by some black folks. Yes it’s true! They say because I don’t buy into your liberal BS I’m somehow a token or Uncle Tom? Yet the white or lighter colored liberal knows what’s best for them. Answer that one?

Liberal/progressive policies have destroyed the black community and other minority communities for over 50 years. Now when black and brown people speak up about that, the whiter liberal tells them they’re wrong. Why is that?

    • The Flying Pig says:

Really, you don’t think African Americans have ever called out Trump for racism?
You don’t think any Latinos have?

      • Tim Knight says:

That’s not what I was talking about. It’s impossible to have a conversation about this without Trump being mentioned. LOL

      • The Flying Pig says:

        We were talking about Trump
The only reason we had this conversation is bc Top posted an inflammatory video with commentary
I responded with my thoughts on Trump
And you responded with how wrong you thought I was about Trump

I genuinely do not think any political party does a very good creating an equal playing field for all people
I disagree all the time with liberals especially on cultural issues

I think these issues are much more complicated than a political season permits

But I think trump is a racist jerk. I don’t care if other people don’t feel the same, I do care that people try to project why I feel that way. That bothers me.

It doesn’t mean I don’t think people can find other reasons to support him and it doesn’t mean I’m interested in belittling people who support him. I try to avoid that if o can. Some times I get a little nasty…

But if some one challenges whether I have an informed opinion, they are going to get push back

  175. bailbondmike says:

The Left does not support rioters and looters. Huh? Then why was democratic VP nominee Kamala Harris soliciting funds via twitter to post bail for rioters and looters. Money raised was even used to post bail for rioters using fire arms.

“Kamala Harris helped violent rioters in Minnesota get out of jail to do more damage.”

“Thirteen members of Biden’s campaign staff donated to bail and — rioters — they’re getting them out of jail. Looters — they got them out of jail. And his running mate, Kamala, urged their supporters to do the same thing.”

“One defendant, Jaleel Stallings, was charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting at police during protests on May 30, county records show. MFF paid $75,000 in cash to get Stallings out of jail, according to MFF interim director Greg Lewin. He said Stallings was among a dozen people MFF helped with direct bail actions after the protests.

MFF usually raises $100,000 per year to assist people with posting bond. After Kamala Harris got involved to help the rioters and looters get back on the street, in a matter of days, they managed to raise 35 MILLION dollars to keep these MFer’s on the street to include some MF shooting at the police.

This was not from Fox news. It was from the Washington Post.

    • Tim Knight says:

It’s too close to the election for truth and constitutional actions. Only emotional agendas matter. People are tired of it.

    • The Flying Pig says:

      Mike

You are a bondsman. You know those people will have a trial or a right to trial and will still go to trial for whatever they are accused of. I’m sure you know the way the system works. Some people just can’t afford bail. So they spend time in prison before a trial.

That’s why bails are paid. Bc poverty should not deprive some one of a right to trial before prison. But that’s what happens

It doesn’t mean you support what they are accused of. It means you don’t support prison before some one stands trial

  176. bailbondmike says:

Just finished getting a good buzz with my black neighbor sitting by the fire pit. Really cool woman. Oops, should not have mentioned she was black. Does that make me a racist? I know she would laugh her ass of and shake her head at you if you think that.

  177. Tim Knight says:

Piggy, I moved on from Trump/Biden and was discussing how we as a people get along. The issue is so much bigger than who is president. I mentioned over 50 years. Just saying.

  178. bailbondmike says:

Roll back the calendar just a little to the democratic debates. Has everyone forgotten what Kamala Harris said to Joe Biden? WTF! His history is riddled with acts of racism and/or oppressive actions/intentions. But we are just going to overlook that now since she got the VP nominee nod. What a 2 faced bitch she is….and trump is the racist. SMMFH

    • The Flying Pig says:

I don’t know why you guys keep seeing that

She accused Biden of being racially insensitive to what she was going through
And he listened and admitted his prior position was wrong

Which is want people should do instead of denying its existence and not changing

  179. The Flying Pig says:

    Okay
I guess I’m out for the night

I told you guys I was sitting this one out…..lol

    • Tim Knight says:

Sleep like shit fuckface! LOL JK/BB

I did a Zoom last night with friends who are all over the place politically and the one thing that brought us together as one was… music.

So I’ll say this! Fuck you politicians! I hate you! Well I don’t really hate you, but I hate what you’re doing. Is that okay? 😉

  180. bailbondmike says:

Bc poverty should not deprive some one of a right to trial before prison. It that’s what happens
It doesn’t mean you support what they are accused of. It means you don’t support prison before some one stands trial
    ———————————————
Piggy, this is a good point and you are right but has nothing to do with WHY Kamala Harris went on twitter promoting people to donate money to MFF to post bail for these rioters and looters. She sure as hell didn’t go on twitter a year ago promoting people to donate money to MFF to get some poor ass drug dealer out of jail who may or may not be guilty. She did it recently to get the rioters and looters back on the street. You know, the ones the rich dem billionaires are paying to be there in the first place.

It means you don’t support prison before some one stands trial
    ————————————————————
It’s not prison. It’s jail. Before you go on this subject you should try to find out how many Failure to Appear warrants are out there. It’s astonishing. I bet 15% of the bonds we write are for those with FTA warrants who were released on their own recognizance and we write over 15 million in bonds/liability every year.

  181. wyoming85 says:

    Thanks guys!
I had to look up Birthism.

Now I know it’s the same thing as Russia Collusion!

    • The Flying Pig says:

      Really?

Are we now denying Trump was a birther?

      It’s pretty well documented

      • wyoming85 says:

I didn’t even know what it was!

Hence the “I had to look up Birthism.”

Not going down any “Rabbit Holes”!!!!!!!!!!!!

  182. The Flying Pig says:

You didn’t know Trump challenged whether Obama was an American citizen?

That’s not some story/rumor floating around. I mean it’s been a few years. But he publicly did it for years and Trump doesn’t even deny it. He said he was proud of forcing Obama to provide his birth certificate in one of the 2016 debates. He boasts about it.

Maybe it’s time to stop dismissing the criticism levied against him.

    • The Flying Pig says:

This wasn’t a rabbit hole WY
      This is open and notorious

      • wyoming85 says:

Piggy I didn’t know what BIRTHISM meant!

I’m aware former President Obama’s place of birth was questioned.

People make up words faster than I can keep up! 😉

      • wyoming85 says:

It’s the same shit as Trumps Taxes!

Just an arrow in the quiver!

        To quote nandering Nancy!

      • The Flying Pig says:

Okay, So you have a problem with the semantics

It was questioned specifically by trump

In fact he said he had credible evidence
        And people believed him
Until he was forced to reveal he didn’t

He spread a false rumor for years and exploited predisposed prejudices against race for his own gain.

I don’t need to call it birthism. I’m fine calling it what it is – racism. You guys seem to object to that language too.

I’m okay with you giving it whatever weight you want. For me, it’s a fatal and it’s always been. I know everyone doesn’t feel that way, I get that and I acknowledge that’s how a a democratic republic works and that’s your right…but it’s a real thing that happened

      • steveccnv says:

The birth certificate that popped up for Obama was written in a computer font that didn’t exist back when he was born, but, because he was a lefty politician they swept that under the rug.

We’ll never know the real birther answer, but there sure is a lot of evidence to at least debate where he was born. Some document they created for him doesn’t cut it for me.

      • The Flying Pig says:

        There’s no evidence

It’s a garbage conspiracy that relies on racism to fester

It’s not the kind of thing I’m inclined to sugarcoat and plaY nice about. It was a horrible thing for Trump to do and should be called out when it happens

I hope everyone here is ready to re-examine the font on the birth certificate to prove their citizenship

  183. steveccnv says:

I’ve been naive to the race issue, but it was explained to me above. When Biden does something consistent with what a racist does he’s racially insensitive. And here I thought he was this massive racist all his life. But now I’m woke, and know better.

    • The Flying Pig says:

When Trump was accusing the Central Park five wrongfully in the 80s
Joe Biden was arguing for sanctions against South Africa to end apartheid

      It’s not a double standard
They are just two much different people

      • steveccnv says:

LOL, above you talk about someone putting out a one off video, then you post thus.

There isn’t anything you can put out there to make me believe Joe isn’t a racist. Something like this video could’ve been done, because Joe was told what to do, like we see all the time in politics from both sides.

When someone is drunk or not all there they tend to speak the truth, and since we all know Joe isn’t fully there, these racists comments he’s made recently are more likely than not how he really feels.

      • The Flying Pig says:

This isn’t somenone’s opinion – this is real footage of his argument

Sorry but posting right wing nuts videos and calling it evidence is pretty lame

I don’t post Rachel Maddows clips to make my point. I express it and try to speak to people about my point of view

      • steveccnv says:

I wasn’t debating its authenticity, I was debating why he said it, and as you above said, doing something like this doesn’t remove things he’s done. It’s like hilllary saying her foundation does this and that therefore what she stands for is helping people and she’s a good person, never mind that only 5% of the money collected even went to her programs and the rest to fill her pockets.

      • The Flying Pig says:

        That’s a fair point Steve

Respect for using my own argument against me…lol

That said, I don’t see the comparison between the two men

  184. Mike E. says:

Biden is by no means absent from racist remarks . Biden on busing in black kids to his kids school:

“Unless we do something about this, my children are going to grow up in a jungle, the jungle being a racial jungle with tensions having built so high that it is going to explode at some point. We have got to make some move on this”

If this isn’t flat out racism, what is?

Trump trying to say Obama isn’t a natural citizen doesn’t seem racist to me, he either is or isn’t, but I don’t see the racist component. He would be disqualified as President if he wasn’t, but what is racist about it?

  186. New Age says:

    Piggy,

I think calling it racism is a dog whistle like most racism claims today. Obama’s dad was a Kenyan and not a citizen. While Trump fell for that for years or just liked spreading it, it isn’t racism to ask about that. Schwarzenegger. tried for years to have that rule changed for presidential runs, McCain was asked about his citizenship. Anyone not born in a US area is not a citizen, no matter what they look like. It’s obvious Obama was a citizen because of Hawaii birth records but if Trump believed Obama was born outside the US, it’s a valid question. I don’t know why Trump believed it but I dismissed him for years over the stupidity.

I’m not going to speak for you or your positions but, while I dislike Trump the person, I love Trump’s policies and none of the racism claims since 2015 are the least bit true. It’s shameful to push lies so hard. I fully support a huge border wall, not because I’m racist but because I care about our citizens, no matter their color. I’m a huge proponent of term limits, bringing back manufacturing and jobs. The last two are, at least vocally, Trump positions. I think climate change is BS and so is the New Green Deal, much like Obama’s failed ‘climate’ initiates. There’s more I support but I’ll stop there.

I understand your hate for Trump but do you support current Dem ideas? All the communism they push? The Antifa support? Defunding the police? You may think that’s an outlier opinion but it isn’t. People ran and won on those positions and state leadership allowed that stuff to happen in multiple areas. Trump has at most 4 more years. No matter how much you hate him, his ideas seem to have brought jobs, not Obama’s. Obama had the worst recovery in history after a depression. It was a long 8 years but I never thought he would completely destroy the country. Neither will Trump no matter the histrionics of some (not you).

    • Mike E. says:

Antifa is just an idea silly! Joe Biden himself told you that.

      • Mike E. says:

BTW, my 22 year old son told me that Antifa isn’t actually an organization with a true leader, it’s just a bunch of factions that act independently, and just like the police, there are some good ones and some bad ones. Kids!!! WTF!!!

    • The Flying Pig says:

Some one’s dad can be born in Another country and be a citizen

I should know I’m the child of immigrants
If some one questions my citizenship bc of it – I’m gonna call or racist

The rationalization that this is okay on this blog and the metal gymnastics are amazing.

If some one ever said, even jokingly, that I was not a citizen bc where my father was born, I would never be okay with that person

It’s not a small matter. It’s never okay

  187. Mike E. says:

Piggy – South Africa is far away. When it concerned his kids he didn’t want the black kids to cause a jungle. What about that?

  188. pheloniusphish says:

SBJ – Glad I sat last night out.

  189. Mike E. says:

Piggy – I suppose I don’t see what you see about questioning citizenship, you definitely seem to be sensitive to that and I respect that. On the other hand, Trump wasn’t just trying to pick any black guy and question his citizenship, it was the POTUS which would disqualify him from office. You should know that feeling too, your party tried for 4 years to get Trump out of office and I truly believe there are no means they wouldn’t try to do it now.

    • The Flying Pig says:

      Of course I’m sensitive

      It’s fucking racist.

      It’s not a personality flaw I have

It turns out racism upsets me. It’s one of the things I don’t like. I do t k ow why I have to explain that over and over again

I really don’t like this logic of pointing out racism to some one, to first have them deny it, then argue that’s its not really racism

I mean what in the actual fuck is wrong

The reason I’m sensitive to racism is bc I want to stop it
You should be just as sensitive to it

  190. Mike E. says:

At some point today I will be writing a new article, let’s leave the politics on this one and talk football on the new one. I’m just responding now on this stuff because I couldn’t yesterday.

    • The Flying Pig says:

      Please sooner rather than later

I can’t argue with all of you

Besides I have an Court conference in 10 minutes

FYI -I completely agree with your son on antifa

      • steveccnv says:

Lol at your alls fair in love and war post, with what is off limits. Was Trumps 10 year old son off limits? I like the dem talking points you put in as off limits.
