The NFL Trade deadline is coming, now less than a week away. Moves will be made by our organization, but the magnitude of the moves has yet to be determined. This team has underperformed and once again disappointed a fan base that thought, believed and expected better things. In the 3rd year of Grier and Flores, armed with a multitude of first and second round picks in consecutive drafts, we thought we finally were going to get a talent laden roster of young players to build to build around. No more foolish spending in free agency trying to put band aids on wounds that needed cauterizing. We were going to build a young nucleus, with a young QB (Tua Tagovailoa), and then sprinkle in the right veteran players in free agency with no desperation, and no need to get the hottest and most expensive players, just the right veteran players to put us over the top. Instead of building on the 10-6 record we achieved last season, this team has fallen backwards at 1-6 after 7 games and and basically at a point where the season is lost. So now we get to see how this trio of Ross, Grier and Flores handle their failure and try to remedy things. The Deshaun Watson trade rumors have been present since before the season. Is Watson a better QB than Tua is now? Sure, but Tua is a rookie with a 7-6 record, completing over 65% of his passes and a 2:1 TD/INT ratio with 18 TD’s and 9 INT’s. To me, pulling the plug on that is preposterous. On the other hand, the track record for Grier and possibly Flores surrendering a 2nd and 5th RD pick for Josh Rosen in 2019 makes you wonder if they are capable stewards of making such important decisions. They did evaluate the QB class of 2020 and they chose Tua Tagovailoa at #5. Do they pull the plug on a player that has worked so hard and to rehab injuries they were fully aware of when drafting him, especially since he has played well enough to have a winning record and at least average to above statistics? The bigger question is, for what player to make you the trade for? A QB embroiled in controversy and 22 civil lawsuits filed against him by 22 women. This is what makes you abandon the player you were all in on just one year ago? You have to wonder if either of the 2 under Ross really deserve to be here themselves.
I believe the Dolphins aren’t going to make that move. Yes, Watson has been convicted of nothing, there are simply allegations at the moment. He is not guilty until proven otherwise, but many times where there’s smoke there’s fire, and 22 lawsuits is a smoldering inferno. Is that the desperate approach you want to take as an organization? You will probably get elevated play at QB with Watson as compared to Tua but would it be enough of a difference to make this team a winner? We’re 31st on defense statistically. Is Deshaun Watson going to be a 2 way player? Our offensive line has been poor the entire season. It won’t be any better for Watson. As expected, our best WR’s can’t stay on the field or even when they’re on the field, they’re not healthy. We have had DeVante Parker on this team for 6 seasons before this year and he played a 16 game season once. In 2019 he finally had the year we all thought he could have and became the player we hoped he could be, but that was the flash in the pan. He can’t stay healthy, and when you have a #1 receiver that’s rarely healthy, how do you bring in Will Fuller who also has never played a 16 game season. The we have Albert Wilson who opted out of the season last year due to COVID-19. He hadn’t played since 2019 in which he had a terrible hip injury that cut off his nice season in which Wilson was the one exciting piece of the offense. Preston Williams has also been injury prone and only managing to play a maximum of 8 games in 3 different seasons. Is all this Tua’s fault? Is it Tua’s fault that the defense that that was 6th in points allowed is now 31st?
We sent a few veterans packing this season, one after trading for him in the very same offseason. We traded for LB Benardrick McKinney and then cut him in one of the last cutdowns. We traded OG Ereck Flowers to the WFT for a swap of 7th RD picks. I was fine with trading Flowers because I figured that meant that we had our starting LG in Solomon Kindley, or maybe rookie OL Liam Eichenberg. In the short term, sending Flowers hasn’t worked for the better. I still feel like I’d rather have these guys learn than sit behind a vet like Flowers, but with that comes growing pains, and the QB (Tua) along with the offense itself have felt that pain. I was all for giving AVG more playing time and jettisoning KVN allowed that to happen. Getting rid of McKinney while a surprise allowed LB Elandon Roberts to play, and I feel he deserved that as well.
So what happens going forward with this team? Do they finally make the trade for Deshaun Watson? I certainly hope it doesn’t happen, because even if the team is better, marginally or significantly, I won’t feel good about it. It’s just not the ideal situation in my mind at all. “Hey, we have a QB in a hot mess of legal trouble due to his very questionable character, so will give him to you at 50 cents on the dollar”. Yeah, I’ll take a pass on that. Besides the fact that I like Tua, all he’s done since he’s got here is bust his ass to be the best he can be, and he has played well enough in my mind to give him more time to see what he can be. There’s also a huge risk factor that will only mitigated by less compensation initially, there will be no protection for us once the deal is done. Is Tua part of the deal? I would imagine so, but that much is not clear as of yet. Besides the potential trade, I want to see growth for all our young players. I want our O-line looking much better by the end of the season and I want our young LB’s playing at a high level and showing legitimate pass rush chops. I want Tua to show that not only does he belong and deserve to be our QB, but that he’s a damn good one that has earned our respect. It’s not ideal being 1-6, but there are still things that can happen that can make this season a good one. Let’s hope these things happen, all of them.

He said “2021” not beyond that which, to me, leaves everything open for next year. Next year Flores and Grier will be in win now mode with all that cap space. We are all ready at the top in cap space for next year. Maybe even more cap space by Nov 2.
It’s not an accident he’s finally making that kind of statement a few days before the trade deadline. Should be indicative that no trade is happening before then.

The Tua since his return has looked pretty good a few rough and untimely interceptions but certainly he’s improving. The offense has been more productive but we have to start scoring in the 2nd and 3rd qtr. it’s like we’re lifeless.

For me as a young kid it was ‘The Exorcist-73’ and ‘The Omen-76’ both dealing with the ultimate evil in the Devil or Satan. The music in ‘The Omen’ is haunting and amazing at the same time though.

I really enjoy scary/ horror movies of all types. When it comes to being creeped out leaving the theater, The Ring is top 3 for me.
Scariest for me would be the original Nightmare on Elm Street. A perfect combination of a good psychologically scary movie and seeing it at the right age (on HBO in 6th grade). I can’t imagine ever being actually scared by a movie anymore, but I was after that one.
The OG Nightmare on Elm Street played on me, too… and we’re pretty much the same age, Cav Kong. Yes, it was a good one at our age!

It’s a genre like anything else. It’s not for everyone, but I love old cheesy gore Roger Corman B movies, and semi-realistic gory movies like Hellraiser. As technology has gotten better, and it’s become more realistic, I find I don’t like it as much.
Torture porn can be too realistically gruesome for my tastes. I don’t really like the movies like the Hostel movies, but then again I really liked the first Saw movie.
Did you ever watch those snuff films like ‘Faces of Death’? Not really scary, just horrible ways to die whether real or not. Then you had the Final Destination films that touched on the same ideas but fiction.
I watched one of the Faces of Death films a couple decades ago. That stuff was too gruesome, especially knowing that some of the animal deaths in it are real. I don’t want to see that kind of stuff. Enjoyment of horror, for me is based in the fact it isn’t real.

They set us up at Holiday INN on Sheridan .. so in a nutshell we left La Quinta at 11:00 am and by Midnight were 4 blocks away … just got an email saying our Winnipeg flight is cancelled until Sunday afternoon…
Must be some way to get to get from Montreal to Winnipeg. The one time happened to me was a flight from Newark to Honolulu. Soon as heard mechanical troubles meant next day said screw it and grabbed a flight to San Fran. We had to pay for that but got the other one refunded. And we were progressing distance-wise on our trip.

So since you guys went with the horror film stuff — one of my best buddies growing up was Jason in the first Friday the 13th flick. He’s the kid who grabbed the girl out of the canoe at the end. All of like 2.5 seconds of screen time. But he was the original Jason.
Lost connection with him decades ago, but he’s on the internet as going to a bunch of fan shows. And he was an amazing musician, which probably explains why he formed a punk band called “First Jason.”
I certainly remember feeling some kind of thrill when I saw that White snake video!
I like the scary movie discussion. My first scary movie was Friday the 13th Part 2. I was 6-7 and my dad let me stay up for it on HBO. I handled it fairly well until the ending which got my dad in deep crap with my mom. I wasn’t allowed to watch them for a while after that. Omen also scared me as a kid.
As an adult, the only movie that fucked with me was The Ring. I enjoyed it immensely but afterwards woke up in the middle of the night thirsty and groggy. I went to the fridge and as soon as I opened the door, I heard that weird croaking noise and just froze for a second. I looked all over the kitchen to make sure I wasn’t dreaming and even thought there was no way I’m pulling a Bill Pullman over this, then went to bed a bit freaked out. My wife laughed the next morning.
I love the the Conjuring series even though it’s not scary. Just well crafted stories overall.
This just ain’t right. What professors do on their own time should be just that. Whatever their political views. Not your typical employer/employee relationship.

Political Science Professors Daniel Smith, Michael McDonald and Sharon Austin, two of whom have previously served as expert witnesses in cases against state, were told by emails earlier this month that their requests to serve as experts would now be rejected. They were seeking permission to serve as experts in the case challenging Senate Bill 90, passed by Florida’s GOP-controlled Legislature in the wake of the 2020 election.
They could always refuse the “mandate” !

The entire voting rights argument is completely dishonest but they should be allowed to make their terrible arguments. I still haven’t found an argument against Voter ID that stood up to comparisons with all the other IDs required to live in America not being racist The ;lack of voter ID is entirely a tool for voter fraud as Europe and other countries have acknowledged. Mail in ballots are also in this range except in specific circumstances like with the military and citizens abroad.
Way I look at the new laws limiting voting is that when grew up it was first Tuesday in November and that was it. So see that as the minimum. Pulling back from expanded voter access is just the parties trying to set up what best for them.
This was Deep State stuff. Whatever would happen in court not cool.

Just have Voter ID and enough places to vote on that Tuesday. The rest isn’t needed or viable for fair voting. You shouldn’t have the option to sit at home and vote. If it’s important to you, go out and vote. Sit in line for a few hours if needed. Voting isn’t meant to be a effort of convenience.
That would be the minimum. But not with you on voter ID. Figure if walk up with my driver’s license, passport and voter registration info that should be enough. Why should I have to get something else?

I don’t know about FL, but the bill in Texas everyone said limited voting actually increases early voting. The only thing that got ratcheted up was to enforce the laws in effect about mail in voting.
Like said above I’m fine if it is show up at the polls on voting days and nothing else. Not familiar with the laws in Texas except some folks think will lessen voting ops some. And I’m fine with that.
If, you have all those things then sure. Voter ID replaces the need for all those things and ensures you actually have those things. The argument against ID is usually “I didn’t update and they turned me away! I wasn’t on the rolls somehow! I didn’t have the right ID but I should still vote!” I can’t afford an ID!” and other ridiculous claims.

VA’s current GOV is a trainwreck (blackface, for one), they are imposing the racist CRT into their schools, and the whole state is under attack to become a staple of PC. In short, it’s all but become a totalitarian state where parents are being arrested for merely speaking out in PT meetings.
What’s happened in north VA has prompted our current AG Merrick Garland to sic the FBI on dissenting parents, so as to label them DOMESTIC TERRORISTS… just for disagreeing with the CRT/BLM curriculum.
There is a governors race in other states as well. I’m not getting how the governors race in Virginia would create ISIS threats.
