I keep seeing a team that has some really good players who are not being put in the position to excel and marginal players who are getting bad coaching, along with questionable game planning and play calling on offense, we struggle.

  2. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Hollins is a perfect #5 WR. He plays every game, beast on STs, and makes plays when called on

Would like to see more medium plays at WR, such as more 1st downs, but he is a #5 WR

  3. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

Agreed! We struggle and it shouldn’t be a fucking struggle! We have talent now and no fucking head to make it work…wtf?

    • Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

      That was to bookman’s post….sorry

    • bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

Yeah, I guess the good thing about it is that maybe we don’t need a complete blow up or even close to it, just a change in coaching, particularly on offense, and at GM? Not sure, but at least there is something there to work with maybe?

      • Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

Maybe, and hope that’s mostly true. We have more talent, but coaching is fucking this up, both D and O.

Flores, needs to learn how to evaluate coaching talent, imo. I’m hoping he figures it out. Somehow his first two years got o me…lol

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The OL is still a problem. The Jets are not a good defensive team. We get no push when we have to. The pass pro was okay. Even times when we used play action and it looked like we wanted to take a shot down field Tua had to check down because of a free rusher.

We need all these young guys to keep playing and build some chemistry moving forward. That includes Tua.

Yessir, Adam Archuleta was EXCELLENT as a commentator today.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

And I don’t recall if it was Adam or Greg Gumbel who said it early on in the broadcast, in reference to Hunt’s non-TD last week: nice play, don’t ever do it again. CLEAR reference to “Major League”, which I posted this past week!

  8. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

That TD to Mack Hollins, Tua had to pick up his underwear after that throw, Hollins had to wait on the ball.

  9. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

    Hollins is a beast!

  10. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Tua on the day — 27 completions on 33 attempts for 273 yards, an 8.3 average, with 2 TDs and 1 INT for a 108.7 QB rating.

He didn’t dominated but that completion percentage is off the charts. Tua has the close in game working well.

  11. olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

HEY BAIL BOND MIKE; THANKS for recognizing I was REAL CLOSE to picking the exact score. Just a lucky guess, of course. But I SURE LIKED the offensive run/pass balance during this game. NOW, if we just had an O-Line that was BETTER THAN THE NFL AVERAGE we COULD have thrown more deep passes. But that’s impossible to achieve right now. But I sure hope that at least 2 of our first three draft picks in the next draft are O-Linemen. And I hope EVEN STRONGER that Grier’s not doing the picking.

    FIRE HIS ASS!!!

hey we’re 4-7 two games in the win column from contending, next week,
the chrgers play Pitts one of those teams have to fall, same with raiders vs cincy, Buff at N.O. indy @TB, cleve vs balt
if we can just take care of business next week it could get interesting.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Interesting maybe, but we need to win out for a shot, if we’re thinking playoffs

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

    M13 & Bookman

Yeah I consistently don’t like the way they call plays
Some of It is fear of the sack but and how bad our OL is

But it seems more like they coach scared of mistakes

Taking the ball out of you QBs hands so much in the red zone inexcusable

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

      +100000000000000000000000

    • bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

Exactly, it really is disturbing to see the when they put it in his hands he throws a TD pass.

You line up in the wildcat 1st and goal from inside the 5, get a motion penalty and then line up exactly the same and call the same play. I don’t get it.

You script a creative first drive, with pace, once again, then don’t know how to call plays the rest of the game? Unacceptable from a professional team

      • bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

First sentence reads wrong, meant to convey that as soon as they put it in Tuas hands at the goal line, he threw a TD pass, smh with the wildcat and Wilson HB pass crap

      • Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

It takes them a week to script ONE play….then, how do expect them to call the rest of the game? Lol…

  17. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I don’t think that was the wildcat, it was just a direct snap to Gaskin, i think that was a good addition to the playbook.

  22. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

They tried the complete blitz package today, but Flacco was a lot better at dealing with it. He still had to get it out quick and couldn’t go for the deep ball he is known for….. but still different. Think it a perfect package to use against a young QB. Not so sure when a vet like say Brady or Rodgers.

  23. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Far be it from me to compliment the jests

But some of their draft picks are coming along
Elijah Moore, Michael Carter…even Ashtyn Davis (year 2) had an interception.

  24. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

We scrutinize every play Tua has which is normal as fans. But don’t think every QB in the league even the elite ones are throwing perfect passes every time. It’s about consistency not perfection.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

      Exactly

But for the record, his bad throws have been just horrible…yuk

    • Phindog's avatar Phindog says:

Shhhsh !! Somebody on here will disagree. 😎🐕

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

I’m cool with his passes. And he seems accurate. My only problem is how far they go….. or don’t go. Not much deep game in the kid.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Here’s the way I see it. Time in the pocket for deep drops is not usually there and are our receivers open deep often? It’s not just about the QB throwing it deep, lots of other players are involved in plays like that.

If the offense continues to gel and get better we might see some more deep stuff. But we probably need more talent too.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

There’s not much deep game in our o-line or the offense. You have to have time to throw deep. They know our QB won’t most of the time so they call their game that way.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

But at that point you are pretty much saying he doesn’t throw deep cause the OL and the receivers suck. I sense something more than that. Think he is a fan of the short passing game. And hey that can win you a Super Bowl if done right, but my take on him.

      • manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

Think Tua is fan of short game ? Or our OCs ??

  25. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

Cincy kicker 3-3 over 50 yds today

  26. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

Zonas has missed 1-2 plus a PA, Crosby missed , KC kicker missed … lot underwhelming this year

  27. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Stanger – make no mistake, Tua is a short and intermediate passer. Nothing wrong with that. He can throw deep but until our offense is capable of pass protecting on a regular basis, this offense will continue to be predominantly short stuff with some intermediate and very little deep. It’s not just Tua, Brissett never threw deep either but he did when he played for the Colts.

    • manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

I thought he threw deep a lot at Bama, mostly to WIDE OPEN people but thought he had the arm ,.. as ya say won’t know until we can block longer than 1.1 seconds

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Agreed. He’s not a mad bomber. He’s a precision QB. We can’t set up quality play-action passing which usually is where you get some deep strikes, because we can’t run well enough to set it up (blocking), and we can’t protect deep drops (blocking). If we tried to throw deep more regardless of the deficiencies, we’d probably take more sacks and have more turnovers. Then we’d complain about why we keep doing that. LOL

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Pretty much what I was saying combined with would like to see him throw deep more. And as a QB watcher you more sophisticated football guys make fun at times (not talking you)….. I get to watch where his eyes are going. They don’t go deep much. Talking don’t even look deep and then go short-to-middle if not there.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Wouldn’t doubt it. When you know you have limited time, your decision making speeds up so much. Only way that changes is consistent pass blocking from the o-line.

      • manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

And has been no sign of that yet

  28. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

  29. Ken's avatar Ken says:

Over 50 yards in the air

  30. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Tua is smart. He’d rather take positive yardage than wait until something bad happens. I’m happy he’s not standing back there holding the football taking a lot of unnecessary sacks.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yeah like what Daniel Jones does behind a poor OL. Tua’s clock is quick. We need more players that are YAC guys. If we could slice and dice defenses up with 7-10 yard quick routes like slants and outs, make a guy miss and pickup chunk yardage consistently, nobody would care about deep bombs so much. We’d hit them here and there and that would just be adding to the mix.

I think there will be quite a bit of new personnel on offense next year. Work with some core guys who are productive and add some more punch, mainly at WR and RB. That said, the OL needs to be addressed big time.

  31. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

We really need to invest in a running game to see Tua’s full potential

  32. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

    Prater , Zona misses again

  33. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

An OL should be our first priority, imo. I’d really like to see that first, then, get rid of our entire #1 WR Unit (cough, cough), except Gesicki and Waddle, then, get a RB.

Get rid of OCs….probably best as a first step. They’re fucking clueless!

  34. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

    Next 3 games.

    Panthers
    Giants
    Jets

    All at The Rock!

  35. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Krishna – I agree with Tim though. We can’t keep drafting O-line, especially early. We need to pick up a vet or two. That would really solidify the line. Get 2 good veterans, spend the money in FA in the trenches and draft skill players.

  36. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

We need more players that are YAC guys.
    ——————————-
When you google YAC, a highlight video of Jameson Williams pops up. Just sayin.

  37. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

Maybe so! And, not disagreeing with TK, at all. Just think it’s an OL is best chance of success over RB, WRs, or “skill” players at this point and coaches that know how to coach an offense. It’s more basic sound football to me.

  38. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

We need some proven vets and leadership on the OL. I’d sign two in FA at whatever position and add one somewhat early in the draft and keep developing. I’d also sign a vet WR who can make some big plays. Then I’d draft a top WR and RB prospect.

Teams are focusing on Waddle and no other WRs can really make them pay for that. We make some plays here and there. But nothing explosive on a consistent basis.

I’m not saying don’t address defense, but I think we have a lot to work with there. I expect a big jolt of offense in the offseason.

  39. Krishna's avatar Krishna says:

AND, after seeing OCs in box calling plays, it confirmed these jack offs should be fired tonight!

  40. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The OL needs to be upgraded however it happens. But don’t stop there. I don’t care who the GM or the coaches are, with the team we have now, we need more punch on offense.

Just an example of what I think could make this offense go. Add a vet WR like a Marvin Jones that some of us wanted this past offseason. He’s a pro WR that would help Tua. Then find a WR in the draft with Waddle or Deebo Samuel skills. Now you can’t focus on just one. Are we allowed to find a really good RB even in say the 2nd round? Gaskin is a solid gamer type RB. But as a #1 especially behind this OL is a flaw. Gaskin as a #2 is a strength. Improve on what we have and improve depth at the same time.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I’m looking at it like a Duper/Clayton/Moore trio. Speed and savvy. Challenge defenses at all positions with RB and TE too. We’ve got some talent but not enough.

Again I’m going by the core of the team we have now. No Watson trade stuff. If it’s Tua build around his strengths. Adding a bull of a back that can slam it in there for positive yardage on a consistent basis would be nice too. 😉

  41. manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

Agree with OL needs to come Via FA .. we have enough Pups , need someone to show em how to bite … still not sure we have competent OL coaching .. Draft a Top round RB, and WR with first 2 picks .. fill out with D and w/e else .. RESIGN GESICKI..

    • manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

And we need to get some full time WRs.. enough with starting WR missing more games than they play in

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yep! Revamp the group building around Waddle. Got to add another guy that allows him more one on one opportunities. He has the quickness and speed to be more than a Landry type WR. Teams umbrella the shit out of him.

I’m keeping Mack Hollins around though. Quality depth WR, STs Ace and brings a lot of energy to the team. He makes positive plays as a really good all around football player.

  43. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Concerning the trap game comment,, Well I see Humor is gone here. No use in being subtle.

On another level a trap game is a game that is taken too lightly because it’s against a lesser valued opponent and occurs between two higher valued teams. The danger is the combination of over confidence and looking ahead.

The term has nothing to do with the team’s chances at the playoffs as long as the team is still fighting hard, which we certainly are. If we have any chance left, this was a must win game.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

When you’re 3-7 every win is important. Because the next couple of losses basically knocks you out. You can’t take any team for granted.

A trap game is usually for a team that is like 9-4 and in position for playoff seeding – takes a 3-10 team for granted and loses 19-17.

At 4-7 we’re a trap opponent for teams.

    • manitobafinfan's avatar manitobafinfan says:

Naples : I was not pot shotting you.. more the idea , as Tim said that this team currently can “ overlook “ ANYONE as a gimme game , until we fix ourselves

  44. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I was worried that we’d be flat coming off the emo win over our long time nemesis and legit contender Ravens, and to a degree, I was correct. The jest almost trapped us and stole a win. That’s why they sacrificed player development to start a guy with no future ar QB. They were trying to win, not tank for draft position.

  45. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Naples, a win in the NFL is not easy. Look at how this season is going. The moment a team takes a team for granted their record takes a hit. Trap games are not for teams struggling to find themselves. Trap games are for teams with winning records that have legit championship aspirations. That’s not us. But I think we’re just engaging in semantics now.

If I’m a HC at 3-7 playing a 2-7 team the phrase “trap game” would never be discussed. Who are we to expect an easy win?

    • naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

We should not. But how many points did their d give up recently. So the coaches can’t let us assume we’ll get 35 just by showing up. Also The coaches must make sure we aren’t flat after the emotional Ravens game.

it’s great Tua had two even three big downfield throws in 2 games, two of them to busted defenses and wide open rec’s, i mean that’s just fantastic to go along with the 50 screens!

his throws look weak, he’s not consistently hitting passes downfield that will stretch the D. they all don’t have to be bombs, mix in some 20 and 30 yard throws. we dink and dunk 99% of the time.

  66. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

This next game we will need that balance again and control the clock. Carolina is no pushover but kind of a Jekyll and Hyde team. They trounced the Cardinals in AZ and also beat Saints and Falcons. Four of their losses were 1 score games but then they lose big to the Giants.

Contain McCaffrey and Newton and we can win. Their defense can be solid and have a good pass rush that I am worried about led by sack artist Hassan Reddick who has 10.5 sacks in 11 games this season and Brian Burns with 7 sacks.

    ___
I was going to come and post something similar. I wanted the team to make an effort to bolster the run game and help out Tua, but I’m not sure I like this team with Phillips, Waddle, or Holland. I can’t argue against any of those picks right now, although I did want us to stay at 12 and take Parsons and get Javonte Williams in the second with the second first rounder being Edge or Wide receiver. Some had even mentioned in the offseason drafting Michael Carter if we missed out on Williams.
I really didn’t like the Hunter Long pick when it happened and thought it would have been a great spot to look at running back or even trade back for extra picks and still grab a running back. What’s done is done and this season could possibly be salvaged Lloyd Christmas style, but it’s unlikely. I just hope it’s properly addressed this offseason.
None of that matters until the offensive coaching gets better.. The sooner he’s able to become a coach on the field, the better, but he’s not going to be able to do that pulling him from QB in important situations. I didn’t like it the first game of the season and I definitely don’t like it now. Let the kid play.

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

Jury is still out on Hunter Long, we have a slew of T.E’s and 1 oversized frail slot guy. when the dust settles i’ll bet Hunter Long will make his mark.

      • sb7mvp's avatar sb7mvp says:

We had a slew of TEs and a mismatch nightmare. Hunter Long was definitely a wasted pick, regardless of the injury. Gesicki does need to strengthen up and get a killer mindset, but he’s far from frail.

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

How would you know Long was a wasted pick? what you fail to understand is, it takes experience to play in the NFL, they are red shirting him to gain experience, partly because we still have gesicki on the roster also.
you haven’t really seen him play yet you’ve drawn a conclusion.

Watching that interception that Tua threw yesterday, it looked like either Waddle wasn’t where Tua was going to be or the ball just sailed on him. If the second happened, it could have been a result of trouble with his finger. Most of his other passes looked like his usual self though. Just some observations with what limited game film I have. I don’t have access to ask Tua what happened. It’s not a big deal. He’s still young. The interception is definitely not an indication that Tua sucks.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

In the post game interview Tua’s comment on that INT was basically… “shouldn’t have thrown it.” And if you look at the replay there is a guy in front of the receiver a guy on the receiver and the lucky guy who chalked up the INT behind the receiver.

  70. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

They should put Mack Hollins in the slot and leave Gepussy on the bench

  71. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Hilarious that Gesicki who is out there every fucking week is frail but Hunter Long who can’t seem to get on the field is the answer. That’s the same logic about our QB, that he can’t throw deep when the rush is on him most snaps before 2 seconds. Carry on . . .

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

Long will see the field next year, when Gesicki is no longer with the team.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

That’s entirely possible, but you will be hating on Hunter Long at that point and lamenting that we didn’t retain Gesicki. I’ll be here to see it too

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I will give Long a chance, as for gesicki, i’ve been telling you for a year he won’t get resigned, it would appear you are warming up to that idea finally.
and i’ll never look back on Gesicki, he gives away our position.

  72. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Mack Hollins certainly was a nice FA pickup. He produces when he gets a chance and is a willing and good blocker on run downs. He has 12 receptions this year, but three of them are TD’s. He balls on ST too. I’m glad the Eagles dropped him and we picked him up.

How would you know Long was a wasted pick? what you fail to understand is, it takes experience to play in the NFL, they are red shirting him to gain experience, partly because we still have gesicki on the roster also.
you haven’t really seen him play yet you’ve drawn a conclusion.
    __
We needed RB help more than we needed another TE. That’s the only conclusion that needed drawn.

  74. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Rob – If we move on from Gesicki it won’t be because we have smart folks in our front office. It will be a sign of dysfunction. Gesicki will be an Pro Bowler on his next team. He’ll have 80 catches and 1200 yards and 5-10 TD’s. Hunter Long won’t be half the receiver Gesicki is.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I haven’t warmed up to the idea, they haven’t had contract talks that I’m aware of. It’s possible they plan on franchising him, I’m not sure why they didn’t start contract talks a while ago.

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

because he gives away our position, that’s why he has limited play/part time, we pass 80% of the time Gesicki is on the field. he telegraphs our play.
are you going to pay 58 million for that?

        no way Jose!

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

and he will be on a losing team, because they won’t be able to run the ball and their qb will be under pressure.

Hilarious that Gesicki who is out there every fucking week is frail
    ____________________________________________________

i’ve heard that argument before, “Gesicki is not frail because he doesn’t get hurt”

it has nothing to do with his ability to stay injury free,

it has to do with him getting man handled.

  76. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Vegas, Jacksonville & Atlanta were all very close games that the Dolphins should have won. Jax we up 3 points in the 4th and let them score two FG to win with the assistance of the Refs with a terrible spot.

Vegas got two huge phantom calls in OT to get into FG position to win.

Atlanta we were up by 2 pts with 2:30 to go and gave up 52 yards on two passes and allowed them to run 7 consecutive times for a total of 7 yds after getting into FG range on the first two passes.

That game should have been a W too. As bad as this team has been, we would be tied for first with the tie breaker in our favor but for a couple of plays.

  77. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

The coaches really need to figure out why after our fist, typically scripted opening drive we fall apart on offense. We are the worst team in the league in the 2nd & 3rd quarters. Damn! At least script the 1st drive of the 2nd half then!

  78. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

First time hearing of this. This is not something we need. People are on their phones and shit way too much as it is. Now people are going to be obsessed with creating their own perfect virtual world to live in instead of fixing the one they currently live in. People wanting to escape the fucked up world they live in or feel/think they live in. This will destroy our youth and 20 somethings. They will be too busy creating a fake world to live in instead of making something of themselves.

  79. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

We have been the first team to score in every game this year except the BIlls (x2) and the Ravens. Just can’t take advantage of the lead. Seldom do they run when we have the lead. This week being a refreshing change to that.

  82. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Interesting on Rock’s assessment, that we should/could be tied for first

But even so, we’re terrible and unwatchable

Pitt last night, with backup DBs, OL and WRs looked, just as bad, but somehow almost pulled it out

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

that’s the parity in the NFL these days. A bad bounce or a bad call is often enough to swing an entire game. I realize that we could have easily lost a couple that we did win too! NE was going in for the winning TD when Howard forced the fumble to save the game.

  83. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Perception is a funny thing. I would have bet that we have had way fewer offensive snaps than we have based upon how the scores have gone. Turns out only 5 teams have had more offensive snaps than us. We just aren’t producing and turning the opportunities in to points.

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

BTW we have logged the MOST defensive snaps in the league this year by a good margin with 740. (Seattle is next at 728 and then 712 each for Eagles and titans then it dropped down to 683 for the colts)

  84. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

    Interesting comparison:

    Russell Wilson – 7 games, 124-191, 64.9%, 1,564 yards, 223.4 ypg, long of 69, 10 TD, 3 INT, sacked 20, QBR 45.6
    Tua – 7 games, 138-203, 68.0%, 1,471 yards, 210.1 ypg, long of 65, 9 TD, 6 INT, sacked 8, QBR 58.0

Tua’s games are not 7 full games either.

Was surprised Tua has only been sacked 8 times as compared to 18 for Brissett.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Tua has pocket pressence, but something is missing on our O, and it’s not just the OL

Those first drive tds show we can score, the problem is those numb skulls coaching haven’t figured out how to play call the rest of the game

Let’s take what we do best and use it on the first drive, then store it away for the next game

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

Because he has such a fast release. He really is playing well no matter what some people around here say

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

Brissett is like a statue in the pocket

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Not true, he just has a slow reaction due to his lack of knowledge of what is happening, but once he recognizes what’s happening he’s pretty good, sometimes too late though, thus the sacks, throw aways, and bad plays

        Statue is Flacco or Goff

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

Statue in that he holds the ball way too long and has a slow delivery

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

Put Watson back there and he would have a boat load of sacks

  85. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Myles Gaskin is 25th in most yards (433) rushing and tied for 15th in the most carries (123). Doing the math, it only comes down to 3.5 a carry. Not good as compared to the NFL as a whole BUTTTT, just ahead of him (RB’s with 100 carries or more) at 3.6 a carry are:

    Najee Harris, Pitt (188 carries)
    Mark Ingram, HOU/NO (137 carries)
    Alvin Kamara, NO (146 carries)
    Darrel Williams, KC (100 carries)

  86. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

The key to cover zero for us is frequency of use

Use it too often and it gets figured out

Use it in key situations and the element of surprise is a factor, that leads to TOs and wins

We need to learn how to play D without the tricks of the scheme

  87. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Ken are you just throwing shit at the wall🙄

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

No. I think Tua is doing just fine and we are starting to see big plays out of him. Watson takes too many sacks and comes at too high a price

  88. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

DON’T EAT THE DORITOS IN JAPAN

  89. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Watson actually had 62 sacks before the Texans traded for Tunsil

It’s part of the reason they gave up so much for a LT

He had over 40 in each of the 2 years after that
So no question, he takes a lot of sacks

Hard to dismiss a good QB for the IMO though

I’m pretty sure Houston plans all along was to trade us back tunsil eventually bc they regretted that trade….lol

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Again you guys use these clueless stats to promote your POV

When a QB like Watson, Wilson and Jackson get sacked a lot, you have to also look at how many plays they extend and what that value comes of it

In other words 40+ sacks from Watson isn’t the same as 40+ sacks from Tua or RT

  90. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Jaylen Waddle is ranked 26th in receiving yards (622) and ranked 5th in receptions (68) which is not bad for a rookie. BUTTTT, he is tied for 60th in 20+ yard receptions with a long of 36. Out of the top 38 in receiving yardage, Waddle is the only one with less than 10 yards a catch (9.1). There are 16 TE’s with more yards per catch than Waddle. He is also only ranked 27th in YAC.

Something is wrong with our scheme and/or there is not another WR threat to take defenses focus off Waddle.

On a good note, Waddle is ranked #10 in receptions for first downs.

  91. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I’m with Ken on Tua doing fine

I don’t think we need to rush big plays. I would like to see them – but I think under the circumstances, we should not be blaming the QB for that

    Our OL is bad
And the scheme is just ridiculous

I mean it’s not a little bad, it’s really bad IMO

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Saying Tua is fine is one thing, which I think he is, but he surely needs to step up, and he hasn’t produced close to his offseason hype

  92. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Do you know who would be good in this offense?

    Jarvis Landry

I just read that he’s not a free agent again until 2023, but his cap hit in 2-23 is 16m but on1.5 is dead cap money

    I smell a waiver this off-season

Would be cool to get some use out of one of my jerseys again

I always like Christian Kirk and I wanted to draft him once upon a draft, but he feels very close to what we have in waddle

And Kirk has missed some games bc of injury whereas Landry is durable and plays almost every week and right now, looking at our WR crew which doubles as extras from ER, I’m putting a premium on healthy wideouts

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

Waddle is significantly better than Kirk imo. Kirk is not really what we need. We need a healthy Parker type of WR not sure who that is at this moment

  97. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

if you took a poll and polled a lot of people most on the time the majority is correct.

i just wonder why that standard doesn’t apply here?

Tua will never be the QB watson is. sorry it just won’t happen.

and if you won’t take my word for it, just ask the professional evaluators who were relentless in their pursuit of watson. and some of them run your favorite team.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

Majority of talent evaluators have never said Tua has a weak arm

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

FWIW I don’t necessarily think Tua will be as good as Watson but I think the price of trading for Watson and the cost of his contract will be very detrimental to the Team and I think Tua is plenty good enough

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

but what if the price for watson is not that bad? the texans will be against the wall come march 16th. he has to approve the trade, if he only will approve miami the texans will have a choice. take what Miami is offering or get hit with a 40 million cap #.

as for the cost of his contract it will be inline with any other QB of his stature.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

There was one team that was relentless in pursuing Watson – the Dolphins….and it looks like that came from Ross who I wouldn’t call a professional evaluator….lol

Stats don’t lie – Watson takes a lot of sacks and he produces a lot of yards and TDs too

I’m not sure why you think people here that don’t want to pursue Watson are missing something. Stats aren’t the only reason I don’t want Watson. There’s more

      – it will cost a lost of pics
      – it will take a chunk of our cap room
      – he abandoned his team and demanded a trade mid contract. Watson is not missing games now bc of legal issues. WATSON is a holdout
      – he’s got serious legal issues that may jeopardize his career but a a minimum will probably hurt some playing time
      – we just drafted a QB a few years ago we should be committed to

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

he will get paid just like other teams pay their top qb
        – he abandoned his team and demanded a trade mid contract. Watson is not missing games now bc of legal issues. WATSON is a holdout
the texans are holding watson out, after the disfunction there do you blame him for wanting out?
        – he’s got serious legal issues that may jeopardize his career but a a minimum will probably hurt some playing time
not sure how serious they are, it would appear he was ready to settle until the deal went south, so obviously there’s a number on the table, also no indictments either.
