Steve good game .. was about to say sorry for your loss… OT it is

Now I will .. sorry for your loss 🤡

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

At least we got a point, last team in the league with an OT loss

It’s been the same all year except most of Dec, injuries taking their toll

      Goalie out
      Top line is all out
2 of 3 top defenders out

We fought our way to first place once we got mostly healthy

Missing the top line really showed in OT and some in zone TOs that lead to goals

I HOPE Ross uses the next few days to think about turning control of the franchise over to Bruce Beal real soon. In case you forgot, the NFL has already pre-approved the sale of the Dolphins to Beal whenever thetwo of them think the time is appropriate.

THIS Franchise will NEVER get to, much less WIN, a Super Bowl as long as Ross is calling the shots. The fans know it; the scribes know it; the PLAYERS know it. Many games this year were 50-70% vacant, seating wise, at kickoff. MORE will be vacant NEXT SEASON. I have attended my last game in Hard Head Stadium for the duration of Ross’s ownership. I’ll tell you MORE about it in a couple of weeks. There are still some pending issues which you guys no NOTHING ABOUT. But I hope this is all clarified in the coming weeks.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Ah, thanks, learned something today. I didn’t know anything about Bruce Beal or Ross’ succession plan, I had to look him up.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Come on, man. It’s not about Ross, it’s on Grier/Flores at this point. If they don’t make the playoffs next year they’re both gone. Ross gives them everything they need. We need better players, not a new owner.

Someone will buy your tickets. Your threats of not going to the games anymore is not a big deal to the franchise. You’ll be replaced.

You don’t think any of the people involved with the Miami Dolphins wants to win? They want to win more than all of us fans. They actually work on that everyday as we fans just hope for the best.

OD, not sure where your dislike for Ross comes from? He took over a team that was at an all time low. He didn’t ruin a successful team, we were in shambles. No it hasn’t been good for the most part under his ownership, but he didn’t start that trend. There was 4-12 in 2004, 6-10 in 2006 and 1-15 in 2007 before he took over.

The nostalgia with the Miami Dolphins was already over.

  9. sb7mvp's avatar sb7mvp says:

I didn’t watch much of the game, but the little bit that I did get to see. It looked like we didn’t bother doing anything remotely close to what we have seen in the last 7 games in regards to coaching decisions. Combine that with Tua looking off and it’s just a recipe for disaster. I don’t feel our coaching staff put our players in the best place to succeed, especially in the second half when we needed it the most. It’s just a game that we have no control over so there’s no use getting upset about any of it. There are more important things to be concerned with.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I’ve been spending my concern wondering how Antonio Brown got home…

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

You didn’t watch much of the game but think we were out coached? How does that happen?

I watched all of it. We got outplayed because only the defense played well. The Titans were even better in all phases. That’s why they won. Nothing more. No play calling or putting guys in the best position was the reason. Outplayed!

The man is on a mission and he’s winning now that he’s finally healthy. Put him in our rotation for honest money and we’ll reap the benefits.

FWIW, I’ve seen several interviews with him recently… and it sounds as though he really would like to stay in Seattle. But at the end of the day, $$$ talks.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Russell Wilson seems to want out and that’s a big deal.

Good call on Penny though, he’s playing at a really high level. Maybe durability is a concern, but the talent is still there.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Thanks, Bro. If Penny’s durability is a concern (and it IS), put him in a rotational system like ours. Two bruisers (say Penny and Duke) and two scats (Gaskin and ???).

I’m really bummed about today’s game. 8-8, and in the middle of Mediocrity Avenue once again. Oh, but it gets worse… we have the 49ers’ 1st round pick, and they are doing better than us. SMH

  21. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Screw it… I was going to wait to drop my 2022 Phins’ Blueprint after establishing my first Phins’ Draft, but I’m too giddy:

My 2022 Miami Dolphins Blueprint (1/1/2022)

    Staff:
    – New O-Line Coach (either proven in college or the NFL)
    – Definitive OC (not this Co-OC mess)
I’ll provide names at a future time

    FA:
    Re-sign: Mike Gesicki (TE, 26 YO/$11M) and Emmanuel Ogbah (DE, 28 YO/$10.1M)
    – Power RB (not to be mistaken as a 3-down back): Leonard Fournette (26 YO/$6M), Rashaad Penny (25 YO/$?), or James Conner (26 YO/$5.9M))
    – OT: Terron Armstead (LT, 30 YO/$23.9M) or Trenton Brown (RT, 28 YO/$?)
    – OG/T: Connor Williams (LG, 24 YO/$10.2M)
Estimated cost: $62M of an estimated +$75M cap space = $13M after the fact

  22. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

We need upgrades on the OL, we know that. But playmakers on offense has to happen. RB and WR. We don’t make enough big plays and it’s not all about Tua.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

EXACTLY, man! And we’d better be willing to spend in FA to figure out if Tua is our definitive franchise QB. Remember, we have two 1st rounders in 2023 in order to trade up for a QB in 2023 if need be.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

If Tua kills it next year (I believe he will), then we have two 1st rounders in 2023 by which to continue our youth movement.

  23. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I honestly believe Tua just had a bad game, in the elements, against a formidable team in the Titans today… don’t think that should have any bearing on his future with us. However… if he lays an egg next week against the Patsies*, I have this very bad feeling that the Deshaun Watson talk will continue for the foreseeable future.

And I’m not just talking about the media being the media… I think Steve Ross may intervene to get Watson. Time shall reveal…

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I’d imagine it would go down something like this…

Steve Ross: Coach Flores? I really like you, but if you can’t get us to the playoffs next year, it’s over. If you ride with Tua and you lose, it’s over. Maybe you buy yourself an additional year with Deshaun Watson at the helm, but you’d better make the playoffs next year or it’s OVER.

  24. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

THIS would be my O-Line going into the 2022 season, as GM M13

RBs will be able to run and Tua will be protected to pass

    LT: Liam Eichenberg
    LG: Conner Williams
C: Michael Deiter or early draftee
    RG: Robert Hunt
    RT: Trenton Brown

  25. Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

    Scratch that one

  26. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

THIS would be my stable of RBs going into the 2022 season, as GM M13

Power backs: Rashaad Penny and Duke Johnson OR draftee
Scat backs: Myles Gaskin and Patrick Laird OR draftee

  27. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I can’t believe we couldn’t stop the run today… and Derrick Henry wasn’t even available to play: we’ve got to do something to stop it. Perhaps a STUD LB falls to us with our 1st pick (49ers’) in the 2022 Draft.

We’re GREAT at shutting down a passing game with our incredible secondary, but we fail to stop the run against run-heavy teams. We lead the NFL in sacks, so we’ve got to look at shutting down the run.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I’ve stated it for MANY years… looking for the next Brian Urlacher. A LB who is both a super-stud in coverage AND a killer run-defender.

Once we find that cat, we’ll be unstoppable with our current Defensive roster.

And that’s NO DISS to our man Zach!!! It’s just that Urlacher had the speed, height, hands, and coverage ability of a taller CB early in his career… while still being able to stuff a runner in a heartbeat, like Zach.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Jerome Baker was AFC Defensive player of the month. Our issues are not LB.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Baker — at least IMO — is not proficient at stopping the run. He got AFC DPOM for his sacks. Again, JMO.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

What’s more, Jerome Baker didn’t stop the run today! 😉

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

It’s going to KILL ME if we have to yet again draft a DT/NT early. If that has to be the case, it’s time for Grier to be fired.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I’d rather see us use some of our FA $$$ on a DT/NT — at the sacrifice of landing a FA WR — than to spend yet ANOTHER early pick on a developmental DT/NT. It takes YEARS for them to develop.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

In terms of WRs, remember we’ve got Allen Hurns and Lynn Bowden Jr coming back to us next year. Perhaps it would be wise to spend some FA $$$ on another DT/NT if we can’t stop the run as currently constituted… rather than spending it on a FA WR.

  31. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

There’s a huge elephant in the room, can anyone see it?
if you look at Mahomes, Rodgers, Herbert, Brady……etc don’t you find it odd that Tua plays totally different from them? they operate the entire field throwing strikes 20 to 30 yards downfield on a consistent basis. Tua operates in a 10 yard box 99 % of the time. this is why his comp % is so high, the degree of difficulty expands the further downfield you throw it. and i’m not buying it’s due to lack of protection. there has been protection issues but not on every play. i doubt he does that because he has to get rid of the ball quickly to avoid being sacked. the offense is schemed that way. the only conclusion as to why they do that IMO is his lack of arm strength.
I believe they already know they screwed the pooch on that #5 pick and have plans to correct that prior to March 16th.
i think Tua is a total bust! and that does not make me happy.

    • you should watch boxing, that is an individual sport and you wont ever have to google up what team sports are

hes still a jets fan IMO

  33. Orob, be happy, the futures are up, and you can crawl out of economic ruin, by whats called the January effect in the markets

  34. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I think Ross made a calculated decision in Nov, he waits until March when the Texans backs are against the wall and they have to commit 40 mil to watson or trade him.
with his no trade clause that will devalue what he will demand in a trade, especially if he targets one team like Miami.
the Texans will be in a bad situation.

  36. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

Tua is 28th in the league in passing yards, that’s why our offense is anemic

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Rob, I do have my concerns with Tua, yesterday was just one of those games every QB has. He is not as bad as that game was. Go back and look at just about every teams games and you will find that one or two games their QB was made to look like trash. Even the elite ones.

That said, I do have my concerns about Tua. Especially in future bad weather games. Our offense is anemic because of a number of factors. Tua, OL, lack of another go to WR and lack of a running game. It’s the whole picture not just Tua though he is part of the issue.

I said yesterday, give Tua the Titans OL and running game and they would probably be in the same position they are now. Same with Pats. RT and Mac Jones would not be going to the playoffs either if they were they QB of this Dolphins team.

      My 2 cent.

  37. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

David, Do you ever read older posts? Say like from Ken, Piggy or Herd?

    Didn’t think so.

  38. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I have to give Rob credit on one thing. He’s consistent in his disdain for Tua. I absolutely hate the frauds on the WQAM morning show, Joe Rose and Zach Krantz. They were hammering Tua until halfway through the 7 game win streak and all of a sudden became Tua believers and just gushed about how good he is. Then one bad game and they’re we need to look for an upgrade, Tua can’t play in cold weather, Tua can’t throw more than 5 yards, he’s limited physically blah blah blah. Couple of phonies who don’t know any more than any of us.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Every QB faces these bad games, see Brady recently

Though it’s like Fonzi said, in order for someone to fear you you’ve had to have hit someone before

In this instance you have to have some great games on your resume, which Tua doesn’t for a stinker game to be a 1 off

      • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

That’s kind of a good response to my response to Rob above and makes sense also. He did have the game last year vs AZ but has not built on that at all this year to garner that respect.

  39. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

GM M13, I really like your off season plan. Love Armstead who you turned us on to years ago when he was being drafted. We could use him for sure but not at his cost. I think we have to stick to getting a RT in Trenton Brown and a LG which you did in the end.

I believe Eich continues to get better especially with getting a stud LG. I am not for using an early pick on an OC. I think our weakness at LG hampers both. A stud like Connor Williams will make both Eich and Deiter better.

    Again, this:

    LT: Liam Eichenberg
    LG: Conner Williams
    C: Michael Deiter
    RG: Robert Hunt
    RT: Trenton Brown

I’m 100% all in and we can draft at #99 LG/LT Thayer Munford or OC Jarrett Patterson for solid depth.

  40. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Mentioned before the game, that this was a scheduling issue, after playing Monday night away, so already a short week to face a fresh team coming off of Thurs and being 2nd seed in AFC

These games are usually only won by elite teams

Last year we played I believe Seattle in the reversed scenario, but we were far from #2 seed and both the games weren’t on the road for them

End result we were beat down at the end, go figure

These disadvantage games should never be scheduled

Could say the same about us against the Saints, but it wasn’t scheduled

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I can agree. Every year there seems to be a scheduling issue or two. It’s like the schedule makers are like, “It’s the Dolphins, fuck it”.

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Or whatever team they’re trying to help they give them the soft scheduling, Rams this year, they have no bad scheduling games, don’t face anyone coming off of a bye or Thursday

Coincidence? I think not, SB in their stadium this year

Said, when the schedule came out, that it’s tainted for the Rams to be playing in SB

  41. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Wyoming, don’t go! I look forward to your 100+ mocks to compare with my 10,000+ mocks. lol

  42. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I feel like BBM does about Tua. He’s not as bad as he played Sunday. I don’t see any reason why he can’t play in cold weather. He has bigger hands than most QB’s, so that’s not an issue. I suppose his arm strength will be questioned until we see him throwing deep more often, if he ever gets the chance. He was bad yesterday, inaccurate, and like I said in my article, TEN, with Mike Vrabel a Belichick disciple, was going to take Waddle out of the equation. Without Waddle, Parker wasn’t getting open and Gesicki didn’t have his best game either. There was play where he had it in his hands and the DB punched it out for an incomplete pass, I thought he might have had another drop too. We’ll see what direction we go next season. I hope we don’t look at Watson but I don’t control that so I’ll deal with it if/when that happens.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

I remember a Joe Montana game back in the day at home against the Eagles, they lost 40-8, because the OL had a couple of guys out

It’s still a team game, wonder what team Flores and Grier are on sometimes

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

The int was Gisecki’s fault as well. That said Tua didn’t play well yesterday. His arm strength is not the issue. He showed it again yesterday with another beautiful deep ball to Waddle. He throws a really nice deep ball. The problem is that we don’t do that enough. Rock posted the stats yesterday about how infrequent we go deep. Is it because of the scheme or the OL? The answer is probably both. I chalk up Tua’s game to having difficulty with the weather and facing a good defense that frustrated other good QBs including Patrick Mahomes

  43. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

  46. Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

I really hate to say this because I wanted continuity this offseason!

But we need a true blue OC!

Tenn. came up with a brilliant game plan against the short passing game!
Nickel and Dime almost every down!

And our answer too it is the deep passing game? On a shitty weather day????

After running the ball very well against their chosen D we just decide to chunk it????

I’m done with Parker to! When’s the last time he got 4′ of separation??????
Or all the WR other than Waddle for that matter????

Get some receivers that can separate and CATCH the fucking ball!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

I agree on a singular OC I think the dual OC is hurting us

      • Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

I wouldn’t care if it was 4! If they could come up with something brilliant (or functional) every now and then!

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

It did look like they went out there with the same old, same old instead of thinking, Hmmmm, I wonder how Vrabel is going to attack our Offense. Short week? I don’t know but they sure as shit didn’t come up with anything different.

  47. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Anybody frustrated with Gesicki and his inability to run after the catch. He is a big physical receiver and can make the tough catches. Huge catch radius and can really “Moss” some DB’s.

That all goes away after the catch and he looks and runs like a wounded giraffe with the ball in his hands. He can’t bull his way for extra yardage. He doesn’t possess that animal instinct. Don’t think I have ever seen him break a tackle and gets tackled by a single, much smaller DB.

That one play yesterday on a 2nd and 10, I think, he caught the ball on like a 5 yard in. The defenders were off him and just beyond or at the first down line. He caught it, turned up field and dove down at their feet 3 yards short of the first. He didn’t even try to fight for the yardage and they didn’t even have to tackle him.

Don’t know if he meant to do that or if he just tripped himself up when he turned up after the catch which would support my wounded giraffe theory.

I would like to see him back but not at top TE money. I would hope around 7mil, 8mil max and preferably 6mil per. He doesn’t give you anything else other than a great receiver for a TE.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Hard to disagree, think Long was supposed to be more of the TE type they want, let’s see, if he can put it together

Watching bowl games I see 50% of the teams have that tough running TE, they can’t be that hard to find

The Ravens’ Andrews plays that way, couldn’t understand why he wasn’t the top 1 or 2 TEs the year he came out

  48. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Brady ran the short passing game to perfection in NE, why is that?

If you tried to stop the short stuff he threw over the top, if you tried blitzing he got it out quick, if you rushed 3 he’d stand back there all day

Don’t think Tua quite understands yet how to make a D pay

Once he does no one will be talking about his arm strength, if he doesn’t, it will continue

  49. New Age's avatar New Age says:

    O Rob,

I think you’re trolling half the time, and I agree that Tua has not looked like a franchise QB, but your support of Watson is sickening to me. I don’t want to personally attack you, but I strongly think it’s a bad idea to support this guy. I won’t go much further but anyone who can support a guy with his issues and a lot of questions behind his behavior just because he might win us a few more games, isn’t really supporting the right things IMO. I could go on and on about TYWENTY TWO accusations and why does any person need TWENTY-TWO different masseuses in a short period, but we all know he’s a scumbag. I don’t want that dirt bag in a Dolphins uniform, won’t support him or the team if he gets traded, and don’t care if a hypocritical scumbag named Steven Ross approves it.

  51. New Age's avatar New Age says:

    O Rob,

I wish the NFL used a strict football assessment, but they don’t and we’re talking about the face of the team. I don’t want a guy accused of sexual indecency with 22 different women as the face of a franchise I support. I also don’t want a guy who quit on his team and is unwilling to play the game as the face of my franchise. If he doesn’t want to play, I think he should follow AB out the door….from a purely football perspective.

  52. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I dont think he quit on his team. Hes available to play. Its houstons decision to not play him not his. He just asked for a trade. Taking into consideration of the previous moves by them its not that hard to understand. Hes collecting 10 m and they are not requiring him to play. I think he wants to go to court. Thats why these other issues have not been settled. If hes found guilty hang him. Hang him twice. But until then i will give him the benefit of doubt. Its funny that you have him convicted even though hes yet to be indicted. If they had something on him you can bet hed be behhind bars

Don’t think I have ever seen him break a tackle and gets tackled by a single, much smaller DB…
    ————–
I feel the same way but never said it. And we have another guy who plays the exact same way: DeVante Parker.

Both Gesicki and DeVante are STUDS, but they leave much to be desired after the catch.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

So that brings us to our burner or YAC receivers. Waddle had a career year for a rookie, yet we rarely got to see him kill after the catch… but he’s a KEEPER, for sure!

We got skunked by Will Fuller, we traded Jakeem Grant mid-season after yet another bout of the dropsies/fumbles, and it seems to me that Tua and Albert Wilson just couldn’t get on the same page, plus Wilson’s dropsies.

Yes, we have a screaming need for another burner at WR, it would seem. We do have Allen Hurns and Lynn Bowden Jr coming back next year, but I’d love to draft Jameson Williams.

IDEALLY, I’d like our WR room to look like this…

        DeVante Parker
        Jaylen Waddle
        Jameson Williams
        Lynn Bowden
        Mack Hollins
and ??? (Ford, Preston W, Hurns, Merritt)

Here is Crabbs January Dolphins 7 round mock draft just released. I agree with him (as most here will) and we have discussed his points on here numerous times. I like where he drafted players and why. I just prefer different players at some spots over who he took.

His main thing was he was all in on addressing/fixing the OL through free agency.

I found it interesting he drafted another TE and sounded like it was to replace Gesicki based on the guys talents he drafted.

Like Wyoming, he doubled down on RB but he went big and fast and then big and powerful.

The pick I didn’t like was his 1st round pick, WR Chris Olave. Not sure what it is but I am not His biggest fan. He took him the pick before the Pats who he had selecting the other OSU WR Garrett Wilson. Wilson is much more explosive and rather have him over Olave any day. I would even like Dotson over Olave. Heck, Olave is not in my top 5 right now.

Wyoming, you might even like his LB pick…

Wyoming, I love that draft and would take it in a heartbeat. I am not sure about Pickens though. Seems like he would be another Parker. His fastest 40 time, I believe, was a 4.59 and that was prior to his ACL tear he just came back from a month ago. I think we would see the same separation issues we have with Parker.

It’s a tough call and probably close to the best available picking around the 100 spot.

Your 2nd WR taken was a steal!!

I’m like Tim. I want that impact receiver who is going to give you what waddle does.

  68. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I like that draft but may would have to sacrifice Walker for a WR in 2nd round and take a RB in 3rd like Ford.

Watching a few players from Cincinnati, I like WR Alec Pierce. He is 6’3 215 and runs in the high 4.3’s. Great red zone threat but also can stretch the field and beat you over the top.

I am not sure Pierce lasts to pick 100.

  69. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

When talking about our WRs don’t you see the same thing most of the time. Even if they run a post or slant whatever and the ball hits them in stride say between 7-12 yards there is always a guy right on them and they get maybe a couple of more yards. They rarely get a step on anyone where taking it to the house can be a possibility. You watch highlights of the games and you see that happening all over the league. The same with RBs breaking runs. We have to add that to take it to the next level. You can’t rely on long drives all the time. We need more BOOM!!! plays.

    • Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

Absolutely. I don’t know if it’s our receivers, play calling , or a combination of the two, but they rarely get the type of separation to be able to get those YAC.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I think it’s both, they can’t get separation on a consistent basis and the play calling is due to that. The coaches know we can’t do it.

We all know we need to get better on the OL no matter how that happens. But if this is the type of offense we’re going to run with more quick throws even with a better OL, we need another Waddle type WR where it’s not just one guy teams have to focus on, then we need at least another WR who doesn’t have to be a one trick pony guy deep speed guy, but a guy who has a knack for getting deep but can also runs other routes. There are WRs who may not be the fastest in the league but they’re savvy in not showing their hand and sell the corner on a shorter route and then they stick their foot in the ground and turn it up field. I’m not seeing that with any of our receivers.

Jerry Rice was the best at that, not the fastest guy but was so smooth in his routes you had know idea when and what his break was going to be. Next thing you know he’s wide open and looks like one of the fastest guys in the league.

  72. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Prediction: if we don’t re-sign Mike Gesicki, the Patsies* WILL sign him… and turn him into the worst enemy (former Phin) we’ve seen since Wes Welker.

We need a REAL OC (not Co-OCs), and a legit O-Line. If we can do that, Gesicki is worth every penny to re-sign.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I want EACH and EVERY ONE of you to think about this… Mike Gesicki as a Patsie*… he’d KILL US.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I’m not so sure about that. The Co-OCs is just a title like Steve pointed out awhile ago. Godsey is the OC and play-caller. I’m not saying you can’t find someone better, but it’s more about talent than it is play-calling to me.

I’ve become kind of on the fence about Gesicki lately. He looks more and more like a one trick pony to me. Seam routes with posts and outs at 10-15 yards is his bread and butter. Every teams knows this. He’s not good on short hitches and once in awhile he catches some slants/ins for 5-10 yards. The way he runs does not allow him to catch short stuff and turn it into anything. Giraffe syndrome. He gets tripped up easily that’s why he tries to hurdle which usually ends up in not much more other than awkward falls. He’s most effective in full stride beyond 10 yards.

So depending on what we do in the off-season with this offense, does he fit what we currently want to do? I’m not so sure. He’ll get signed by someone but I’m not sure he’s going to get big money from us.

  73. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I agree it’s time target a physical RB in the draft. A guy who can get more yards after contact than what we have. We’ve seen some good runs from our backs but it’s not consistent. We need more special.

  74. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

There are 4 WR’s I would take with our 1st round pick.
    Jameson Williams
    Jahan Dotson
    Garrett Wilson
    Treylon Burks

Burks has grown on me and a very interesting prospect. He comes in at 6’3 232 pounds and runs a 4.45.

  75. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

A nice stat on PSU WR Jahan Dotson, per “thedraftnetwork”, he had 58 receptions for 1st down and 12 receptions for a TD.

That means 70 of his 91 receptions went for a first down or a touchdown.

    • Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

All he does is make big plays . I’ve seen every single game of his. He’s fast, can high point the ball, runs very well after the catch and has great hands.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I just watched some highlights, he reminds me of the other Waddle we need.

If we’re going to build around Tua and the offense we’re running, he’s a perfect fit. Now opponents have to deal with two guys who can do a lot of things with speed and quickness. But the intangible is both of them have toughness and great hands at their size. Waddle 5-10 182 and Dotson 5-11 183. Both 4.3 guys.

  76. Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

    Tim,

The problem is this is a pretty weak crop of RBs coming out this year. Not one of them has a first round grade. I think we really fucked up the last two drafts by not drafting one, and that’s not hindsight. I felt the same way after those drafts. But hey hey hey, at least we have Noah Igbonaginhe! (I don’t care enough about his to look up the spelling)

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

It’s doesn’t have to be 1st round. We need a more physical presence at RB. Like I said a week or so ago, even adding an A.J. Dillon type for game situations in short yardage and goal line. A guy who can hammer it in there and pick up the 1st down and TD.

That said, good overall RBs can be found in later rounds. I’m kind of on board with M13 with Reshad Penny though. He still has it and fits the physical mode. Then draft another RB like him. Our backs our too slight. It’s okay to have a couple like that, but not the entire group. Malcolm Brown fit that mold but he hasn’t played in quite awhile and he’s not a special back.

The OL, RB and WR positions need upgrades. We can be productive with our TEs so not too worried there. Then we have… is Tua the answer at QB? Don’t know yet, but we never will with this offense.

      • Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

Agreed. I kind of feel like Duke can be that back. Not that we don’t need to add talent, but we have to be smart about it and add if the value is there.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Duke has done a nice job for us. But at 5-9 210 and 29 years old next year I don’t see him as a long term answer. Maybe him and Gaskin along with Penny is a nice committee. Ahmed has fallen out of favor and Lindsay is limited. Brown probably won’t be back if we signed a guy like Penny. Then draft another big back. It can’t stay the same.

Happy New Year FU’ers and great news that Stanger has made a positive step forward after a few setbacks in his recovery. Stay strong mate.

I’ve followed the ups and downs of this roller coaster season (and this board) and boy has it been a white-knuckle ride. I disagree with most of what ORob says generally (not going to fall for the endless circular debates that accompany that comment however – sorry Rob) but one thing I did agree with, is that we were never as good as we thought we were during the 7 game W streak, or as bad during the 7 game L streak.

In the final analysis, however, one thing that really depressed me is that we have too many players who are not winning their 1 on 1 match ups physically or mentally, sufficiently often enough to even get us into the play-offs, let alone to actually win one. There are, of course, lots of flavours of Offense and Defense, and how one matches up against another goes some way to explaining “any given Sunday”, but the one conclusion I have come to (and also alluded to by JoeW below) is the way we have built this team is not conducive to winning cold-weather, play-off football sadly (and arguably to even get us to the dance).

I know most on here have a high football IQ, so I am not pointing out anything new, but these tweets from Baldy tell you everything you need to know about why we will have (yet) another season sat watching other teams in the play-offs. They are also dispiriting.

    https://twitter.com/BaldyNFL/status/1478173275251429376

    https://twitter.com/BaldyNFL/status/1478188188602707972

I really don’t know where the bulk of the blame for this lies – personnel selection or coaching – but when you get man-handled on both sides of the LOS, even Tom Brady is going to put up an L.

I believe we are better than we were when Flores took over. The professionalism and culture has improved. The team has stuck together. I also like Tua. All I can really say is that my gut tells me both deserve one more season.

The problem is that so much is wrong with the rest of product on the field, that it isn’t going to be fixed in a single season and the man charged with recruitment probably isn’t the right man for the job. As others have pointed out, we have eked out wins largely with smoke and mirrors, against weaker teams mainly as a result of trickery. We all saw where trickeration took us on Sunday. If we can’t put a solid 45 man roster together which can play sound fundamental football and consistently win one-on-one match ups, we are going to be subject to this for too many more years to come and have to suffer yet another of Rock’s nuclear options and too many of Hulk’s “Green Days”. I long for a team which can physically dominate an opponent. We have had a couple of defenses which have done that over the years, post-Killer B’s, and wasted the Marino years, but we have never assembled a complimentary roster capable of striking fear into an opponent. Quite the contrary actually – I feel that our opponents probably take the field knowing we have plenty of weaknesses to attack and exploit and if they keep the pressure up, it’s only a matter of time till we buckle. I hate typing that, ‘cos it sucks, but that’s how I feel about the Fins right now. I doubt I’ll tune in next Sunday. My expectations were never high this season, but I’ve had enough Dolphins for one season. I hope and pray for some root and branch analysis and reform, for problems to be fixed and a new dawn, but I’m not holding my breath. I stopped doing that several seasons ago.

Sorry for the D-length post, but it feels good to unburden!

    ocalarob and the admins.

I will make it real easy for everyone. Herd stopped me in my tracks with her rant but I can’t let this one go. Ban me if you must.

If ocalarob ever again suggests/insinuates/threatens/states that his retaliation for my dissing him on his football opinions or “stalking” his football opinions is: “what if i included your deceased wife? how would you feel about that?” I’m outta here!

I don’t want any part of a fest, community, blog, social media environment that would support this type of behavior. I find it low-life and evil. Disgusting comes to mind, too.

I firmly believed one’s family were off-limits here, let alone tragedies in one.

You crossed a line, dude. Who does that? What is your fucking problem? Why do I even have to say this? You do not have my permission to ever speak or refer to her again, especially on this Dolphin football blog. And, if you do, you win, and I’m out…lol.

    It’s that easy.

    KISS

    P.S. I guess I hit a nerve and as a reference:

UK you can see Tenn operates out of a pro set, they are not a dink and dunk shotgun rpo whatever you want to call it offense like us. our scheme makes us passive tenns scheme makes them imposing. and now you add play action to tenns scheme.
    that’s the difference.
Football is a physical sport, you have to impose your will to win, and scheme matters.

as for our defense, the first three series by the Titans were three and outs, we hung with them until the forth after the BS no call on parker. the lopsided score was not indicative of the game.

Rob – Do us a favor here and please don’t bring family into this. You can do better than that. There’s no reason to get to that level. Thanks

I didn’t say anything bad about his wife, the guy keeps stalking me with stupidity and i asked him how he would feel if i did the same to him and said things about his wife. just trying to get the guy to stop harassing me, he’s fixated on me, stalking me. you’d think he’d have something better to do in life instead of stalking someone on the internet. anything to shut this mother fucker up!!!

i’m done talking about this guy, if you have any concerns go back and read all his responses to me.

I don’t have any concerns other than bringing family into it. Just stick to the people here please, the ones that can represent themselves.
